Lectures way too much but Very knowledgable in history. His test reviews are a book long. His classes usually start out with 30 students, by the end of the semester there are only about 15 or so due to so many withdrawls.

Doctor Damerow was extremely difficult ... I withdrew late from my class which was permitted by him (at least he has a heart)... his classes begin at around 30 and at the end they drop down to about 4 with the only one passing getting a "D".
class was a little to much for the avarge student going to school and also working. i study for every other day every chance i got and still recived a d on his test
he lectures about random stuff. you must read the book for his tests cause he makes them up. his style of tests are mult choice and essays from the lectures. his lectures are very boring. many people drop his class.
This professor is so hard. His lectures are way to long and his tests are very hard. He is not that easy to talk to, so he normally doesn't give anyone a break. I ended up dropping his class b/c there was no way anyone could pass it.

I have never met an arrogant professor like him. If you want to hear somebody brag about their knowledge and want to be made fun of because you're not quite as knowledgeable as him, then this is your class. I dropped out after 2 weeks there is no way you pass this class without having a PhD in histo

He was pretty hard....His lectures were pretty boring... I got a D+ in his class.. The only great thing about his class is that I met my wonderful boyfriend there....

Just cruised this site and wondered why this guy was still teaching.I had this guy back in the 80's and nothing changed in 20 yrs. Same thing as other post, had all A's and he gave me a D. Time to retire this nutty professor! I went on to get a MA degree, no thanks to this bum!
The second I walked into his classroom I noticed this wasn't going to be an easy teacher. And I was right. I ended up dropping after the first test. He's never close to helpful and beats around the question and just avoids it totally. Drop/switch if you get this guy.

he is setting a pattern, I believe he is a **** he should be teaching in a prison of lifers with out paroll.
ALWAYS teachers past time. very hard tests and tells the class the first day he doubts anyone will get an A in the course. strictly grades the essay part of the test, not that helpful when you ask for help. annotated bib. is worth 20% of your grade, not that hard so it boosts your grade. only lectures, a very boring class. not recommended.
Wimps! The exams are from a TEST BANK. Study the entire book on your own, do the research and you'll get a "C" at best! No one ever receives an "A". Skip class - the "BS" is a waste of time, stay if you enjoy irrelevant commentary. The entire department Economics-Government-History is the same.
I didn't have him for anything but I could always HEAR HIM, all the way down the hall. Must love the sound of his own voice, if that's what you want to call it. Sickening.
He's a nice guy. Always with a smile on his face when lecturing and "teaching", but his classes are boring and it's as if he talks to amuse himself with his own knowledge of the subject than to help the students learn...hence the smiling. Lectures and even studying from the book doesn't help when it comes to his tests. Not recommended at all.
Lets just put it like this, started class with 25 people, ended with 6. He must have gotten beat up in High School, because he is one miserable human being. Stressed out the whole semester over this class, would not recommend it, 13 page chicago style paper, will never get an A on a test.
where can i start ! supposly hes the head of the dept. of history..he knows all his stuff but seriously he cant teach for his life.. someone told me it was because we dont study too much and its bull cause i am still in the course and i think im passing with a D :( and no one has passed his tests! now do u really want him as a prof?
I had him for one day and withdrew from the class. He actually says that no one ever passes his class with an A. Please dont waste your time with a teacher like, he makes you do unnecessary papers..professors like that find joy in watching their students fail

had him for geography 101. he seems to have very bad reviews - don't believe it! if you are serious about learning, he's your guy. he tries very hard to make class interesting, use technology, and he's always willing to clear up confusion. the class was challenging, but i learned a lot.
this class was the hardest class at UCC. the only reason i got a D was because of the annotated bibliography was worth 20 percent and was easy. his tests were near impossible and the essays on the test were graded strictly. class started with about 40-50 people ended up with like 8. don't take this class unless you want a D/F or withdrawal
His test are extremely difficult. But besides that, the is a excellent professor, he is a genius.
he was the hardest professor i have ever had he is so hard to understand and he covers every single chapter in the book. He takes attendance every single day and never lets you out early

I hated his class, but I have to be honest. it is the only class so far that I have actually learned something from. and I'm on my fourth semester at UCC.

Prof. Damerow is very knowledgable. He is difficult, but you will learn a lot from him. I've read that he doesn't give A's. That's not true ( I received an A). I would definitely recommend him to serious students who want to learn.
He is a challenging professor. IF you do you best you will end up passing. When class started there were 30 now there are 4, the reason they all failed was because they didn't bother to try. College is about doing your best not about taking it easy. if you end up dropping his class your pitiful, i ended up with an A.
Though he is extremely knowledgable, he is arrogant and rude. His job is to teach, not to brag of his intelligence. He often smirks condescendingly and mocks his students. He may be a very intelligent man, but not a good professor. Avoid him.
There is no one that I've met that said they got an A.Everyone who has passed has only passed with a C. Hes a horrible prof, he knows his stuff but doesnt know how to knowledge others with it.Even if you try to study your bummed. If you dont want your GPA to lower please dont take him.Trust me.Only way to get an A is if you know everything already!
He is not that evil. He might be very inteligent, i agree, but he s not that good teaching. Kind of confusing lectures,goes back and forth. Hard grader, gives tests with lots of multiple questions + 4 essays...! Final paper of 13 pages with chicago style and this and that..You work too hard for a C! Not worth it.

I think I did poorly in his class, and I feel very bad for it. Why? Because even though he was very difficult, he was right; college isn't supposed to be easy but challenging instead if you want to get somewhere in life. I learned a lot of things here, but I know I could have done A LOT better. A word of advice: STUDY VERY HARD FOR THE TESTS!

OMG. it's A LOT of material that he covers and he DOES NOT let u tape record his lectures. I'm constantly taking notes & making study guides & i still didn't do well on the first test.it's not that he doesn't know what he is talking about, it's his presentation i think. ur so bored cuz he isn't interactive.class can never participate, jus listen!
By far, the most challenging class I've taken. He has a lot of knowledge, but cannot communicate effectively with his student at all. He's monotone and I just basically feel like ripping my hair out in there. It's just very frustrating to study so hard for his tests and still not be able to receive anything higher than a C.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. He is the smartest man that i know, however he does not know how to teach. I have learn more about history from my math and sociology professor then this guy. Test are extremely hard. No one in my class gets higher then a 65. He is the absolute worst. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.
If you are interested in history, or are pursuing a degree in a related field, take Damerow. I agree he is not easy, but if you can stick to reading one chapter a week you should be okay. He provides detailed outlines on his website, print them and take them with you to class for reference. Do the online tests.
HE IS SO HARD !!! he is very intelligent and knows the material well but he's way to intermediate to be teaching HIS 101. His test are hard and DO NOT take him in the summer. YOU WILL FAIL ! YOU read 4 whole chap. within a week. Unless your not intersted in history I don't require him. he gives no assignments to help raise ur grade. hes the worst !
i don't understand how you can have the essays written in pencil on your desk....and then get a D on the test with a note saying "weak essays." blows my mind. i withdrew from the class.
The class was hard but I was not too committed. And I think the prof was on your side in so far as you put in what you get out. Marked him as hot for fun because I liked his old hair cut which kind of swished when he walked. Also used to be our old club advisor for Model UN. so he was a good sport to help out as well. Had fun writting this :)
HE IS THE WORST COLLEGE PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. HIS TESTS ARE RIDICULOUS AND IS A VERY HARD GRADER. HE WILL PUT YOU TO SLEEP WITH THIS BORING AND USELESS LECTURES. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL THIS COURSE.
This professor is NOT that hard... you just have to read the chapters in the book and you will do fine. I got a B and I didn't work hard at all. If have to withdraw or fail your just not putting forth enough effort.
His lectures are in addendum to the book readings. You grade relies mostly on four tests given through the semester. He tells you what chapters will be on the test. This being the case, you will almost always get the essay and scantron sections of the test wrong since there's no clarification as to what he wants. Good Luck.
This professor is not easy, but he his class is certainly challenging. You must study to pass this class. If you like history, you will increase your interest. Very knowledgeable professor. This class is not for those looking for an easy A, but for those who actually intend to learn something.
He is a serious professor and expects you to participate in the class. He's very knowledgeable, explains very well and likes to hear our comments. I enjoy his class.
I read all these reviews before taking his class and they are not true. First, he is a nice man and he tries to keep interesting. His tests are hard, mostly because of the essay questions. If you study, you can deff. get a good grade. If you are a lazy student looking for an easy A, you shouldn't be in college.... drop out and do everyone a favor.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. While the course is very knowledgable, his exams are INCREDIBLY hard. His texts are ridiculous beyond belief. He is RUDE, gives attitude, not helpful. By taking this course you're just asking to get a grade of a D or F in this class. The people who claim to have an A just got lucky. Save your time & your money.
Overall I found this teacher to be particularly unhelpful. Unless you want an extra headache that you do not need, please avoid this man! His lectures are extremely off topic and his tests are incredibly difficult. Even if you study hard, you will not pass this course. I had to drop it in order to save my GPA. Once again stay away from this man!
His classes are a bit hard. You must put effort in order to get a good grade. But overall, he is a very good professor, very knowledgeable and helpful. One day I was 40 minutes late for a test and he let me take it anyway and let stay after class to finish, how many professor would do that. I recommend him, he is a nice guy.

Dr. Damerow's class was incredibly difficult. That being said, I think he's a highly intelligent man and his lectures really do touch on the heart of history. His tests are excruciatingly difficult and I was unfortunate enough to be in an apathy spell while taking this class. Take if you like a real challenge.

His class is very boring and the lecture tends to go longer than the class period. His tests are hard and you have to do a lot of reading from the book to help you pass. The book and the website he tells you to use helped me alot more than he did. Also within a week half the class dropped the class.

Prof. Damerow is a challenge. I feel sorry for everybody who want everything easy .. Get an A easy not doing any work. Wake up , y'all. This professor is extremely smart. He took the class to a different level.
His class is very hard and his lectures are horrible and also long!!! He is boring and rude along with useless. He says one thing and does another. His tests are impossible and his homeworks are long and annoying. Overall I hate this class and can not stand his rude and horrible behavior!
Terrible professor. I will never take him again. He wasn't clear about what we'd be tested on, answered questions without really answering them. Very upset I didn't realize how bad of a teacher he was.
He knows what he's talking about and very intelligent, however his classes are very boring and sometimes he is rude. I asked him for a review for the test and he said NO! he doesn't like to be recorded, and was not interested in helping the students.
He is a good professor an helpful, but if you have a heavy work load don't take him. A lot of reading, you are cramming 4 chapters for a test every 3 weeks. I studied from the textbook,the book he wrote, online practice test from the textbook AND his notes online, not to mention my notes and i still couldn't get a B or higher on any of the test.

I chose his class simply because it worked with my schedule. WORST DECISION EVER. He's very rude, his lectures only show off his knowledge, & he's not interested in helping his students. Please, don't take this class you won't pass his test, he barely gives HW & he doesn't offer much of anything to give you alot of grades. Worst teacher ever.
if your looking for a class to pass easily this isn't the class for you. this class is extremely difficult and you need to read the textbook daily in order to pass. in my class right now almost no one passed the first hourly. the average grade was like a 45 and it just gets harder the longer you stay in the class. don't take it you will regret it.

Terrible Terrible Terrible, Stay away from this one. He makes offensive jokes and does not let you record his lectures in class. He gives you a HUGE paper to right and his tests look like a phone book. If you value your GPA, I recommend going elsewhere. Class began with full participation of students 30 -35, and ended with around 7.
I ended up with an A but I really worked hard for it. You need to read the book thoroughly before each test. Even minute details from the book make it onto the test, so attention to detail counts. The term paper was quite lengthy but it was an easy enough subject manner, so it can be done. Watch the citation on the paper, he's keen on that.
Tests are near impossible. This class is all on you. Prof is not very helpful or clear. You'll have to attend all lectures, read, take notes, and teach yourself the material. I'm typically an A student, lucky to have made it out with a C+ Good luck!
I am a history major and this professor made me hate history for that semester... enough said. he's just AWFUL! avoid him!!!!
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. I always get A's and I thought I'd be able to take him, but I was dead wrong. Getting a 'C' is like getting an 'A' in his class. It is extremely hard. Lectures are pointless and nothing on the test was ever mentioned in lecture. No one gets an A, literally. Studied for hours, yet failed all tests. This class messed up my GPA.
Professor prefers stating his opinions on politics rather than actually teach them. Passed all the tests, but only because I read the book. Didn't bother taking notes after the first test since I realized he rarely went over the material on them in his lectures. Takes FOREVER to give back your teststerm paper.
Stay away from this professor. Worst professor ever. Took him this semester. Failed every test. He doesn't repeat himself. Also gives a 11-19 page term paper. Gives 3 tests the whole semester very tough. Almost everyone failed in the class and failed all his tests. In order to pass you must teach yourself from the book. Do not take this professor!!
if you give one care in the world about your GPA just don't take him
