A great professor, a great person! Getting an A is not easy but he makes the material very interesting and explains everything thoroughly. An especially great class for those who are really interested in reading different types of literature. Two big essays, midterm and final--gives extra credit.

I got a A- but it was hard work for me cause i have bad writing skills. He usually criticized my papers but he allows rewrites. His sybllus consist of 2 papers(40%) and 1 midterm(15%) and 1 final(15%) and 30% participation. The exams have id's which is recognizing quotes. It was k Good Luck.

Helluva professor, I'm in his class this summer and don't know my grade yet but by now the class is so good I'd come even if I wasn't enrolled. Manages to teach everything well and with a straight face, but if you're with it you'll notice a witty remark in everything he says. Really smart guy, his class fills up quick so don't hesistate.

Take him. He is so great and funny. Even though we have papers and readings in class, I think that's what every professor requires. He is so nice that he makes everything easier. He explains really clearly in lectures. And you'd better come to class everyday cuz that 's the material u need to know for assaignments and exams.

Readings were SUPER long. But class discussions were great. Everything not understood at home was explained in class. I loved the topics and the material discussed in class actually gave me a better/broader view and opinion about personal life experiences. Prof Ramdas Harold is an excellent teacher who teaches with his heart and soul. He is highly educated not only in area of English, but also in many other areas and aspects that he incorporates into English, which in turns makes him one of the greatest professor I have ever known. Professor Ramdass is an incredibly wonderful teacher. It is amazing how easily he can pass on his knowledge to his students. Those of you whinning about how difficult this class was are just slackers! This was a class with minimal homework, tests, and essay, and yet you learn more than you would in 5 years with other professors! ABSOLUTELY WONDEFUL

HE TAUGHT ME HOW TO READ! I mean, really read -analyze text, understand the author's meaning, understand teh relevance of the literary piece to the time and universally. WONDERFUL. Expect to learn to delve deep into literature and understand. (Midterm, final, a few essays, participate, - but if you're shy, you can do so on Blackboard - be on time).

A++. I got 3 C's for all tests and I received a final grade of B+. This man makes me want to take more English advanced courses. Very analytical. Observes every sentence, every word. It's like he can teach a paragraph for an entire semester and you can learn so much. I absolutely love him. HIGH RECOMMENDABLE. This was the only class that I enjoyed.

I've just completed my summer course, and let me tell you this professor is amazing. The experience has definately made my summr worthwhile and believe it or not, I looked foward to going to class. A challenging course; but a brilliant Professor. This course derives a wonderful english experience. Both lingusitically, and conceptually. I'm a Finance major, and im erring towards lit II. This guy is amazing. I used to hate English classes, but the semester I took him I actually enjoyed getting up at 5:15 to make it to his class by 7:30 (he didn't care about people being late). He knows A LOT and he creates real enthusiasm for the stuff he talks about. Relax and participate, and you will really have fun in this class.

I took his class last semester and I can say this much, he is very gentle, kind and extremely helpful if you difficulties with your paper. I miss his class and if I could, I would take his class again. Highly recommended. I wish him all the best.

His class was a great experience. I would highly recommend him. He's a little strict when it comes to grading, but he's a great guy, and a nice addition to the english dept. His class consisted of an in class essay, take home extra credit, midterm + final. There was a lot of reading, but what else do you expect to do in a lit class?

cons: hard grader; absent once in a while, doesn't email and notify of his absence beforehand, takes a long time to answer emails. overall he is worth taking though. 8:40-10:20 class and you never want to sleep because he's hilarious and connects to students so well.

Just when I was losing hope in finding a good professor in Baruch, Ramdass came along. Definitely one of the most interesting classes ever. Great discussions. He is easy to talk to (asking and answering questions). He makes you comfortable in his class. Sometimes he doesn't show up, but who cares, we all need a break. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Ramdass is an excellent professor. Class is fun if you participate and do the readings. Tests are fairly difficult, and he is a hard grader. One con is that he didn't show up a few times without any prior notice which sucks if that's the only class on the day.

Amazing Professor. There's a lot of readings, but I enjoyed all of them, even Shakespeare, and I hate Shakespeare. Great sense of humor, doesn't allow cell phone usage during class, grades fairly, and always provides comments for you to improve. I was very impress with his teaching style. I do not like Literature, but he changed that, all my fears went away when I was in his class. Great professor. Helps you truly appreciate literature. Crazy insight and the class covers all types of topics, ranging from economics to history and linguistics and anthropology....all types of ill ishhhh...his teaching style should be the norm at all grade levels. Register early.

He is an amazing professor. He is serious about the subject and his job. He is very good with e mails and office hours. "Be prepared to write though". He does several writing workshops, which are very helpful and fix your writing skills. Class discussions are amazing, its like discussing a reading in a bar.

Very loose environment and very funny professor. Not much work to do besides the readings, two papers, and the final. Many items on the course syallabus were postponed or even canceled altogether. excellent class. Ramdass makes a boring class fun and interesting. one of the few classes that i enjoy going to at baruch.

Great class. He managed to keep everyone in the class hooked to the discussion and make a two-hour class go by so quickly. I took this as a summer class, and I'm so happy I did. I actually looked forward to going to this class. He's funny, but most importantly he is respectful. Highly recommend taking him!

Professor Ramdass is really care about students. He wants everyone to learn. Even though he is not a easy grader, he explains clearly what he expects. He allows you to bring notes and outline to midterm, which I find is very helpful. I did not get a A, but I deserve what I got. Overall I strongly recommend you to take him.

Ramdass is a great professor. He makes the class very interesting and the two hours fly by. He tends to extend the class for an extra 10 minutes but it definitely doesnt drag on. I am actually eager to go to his class. Always do the readings though. He will give quizzes of he finds out the class isnt reading!

His class is fascinating. I really enjoyed the selection of readings, and the in-depth conversations we had about them. He is a tough grader when it comes to writing, but he's very fair and looks for improvement. Great, and u will learn, but like others said, tough grader. I got B on midterm/final; most ppl got B or C, only 1-2 got A on midterm/final. I ended up with a C grade, did all HWs, and such. Well, I didn't participate much. Anyways, my suggestion is, if u r a quiet person, AVOID HIM, gonna kill ur grade. Also, he reads all comments posted here.

"The best professor ever" is probably an overwhelming understatement. I had always hated humanity, but his altruistic dedication to help students to improve really touches me and motivates me to perform well. I cried on the last day of class, not because of the workload or that we had, but because that was the last class I will ever have with him.

Professor Ramdass is one of the best professors at Baruch and I wish every professor was like him. He makes his class so interesting and fun that time flies by. Make sure you participate because that is one of the main things he looks for. This man is the greatest.

I always scare of taking English classes because i am not an expressive person, but after Ramdass' class, i realized that English is actually a very interesting and useful subject. Ramdass taught us a lot about our life and the people in the society. I like him very much! He is my abecedarian. I will miss him!

Prof. Ramdass is perfect for English Literature. His readings are well selected for a business oriented school. He is very funny &my only complaint is that he gets distracted easily (according to him there is a meaning behind his pauses). However, I wish he could stay focused longer, so we could absorb all his knowledge while maintaining the flow!

Great professor, down to earth. Never knew some stories had such a deep meaning until the professor went over the text in class. Would definitely take this professor again, too bad I finished all my english credit requirements. 2 3-page papers, participation is mandatory!

Greatest professor in Baruch. He really makes you want to learn, very funny, has great stories to tell, and is ultimately an inspiring man. Sadly, you also have to do the reading or else he will randomly give out a pop quiz. He will sometimes check if you did the hw randomly as well. So just be a good student and do the work.

He wants to be there and teach you. He jokes around a lot but also knows when to be serious. Worrk load wasnt bad at all. People who gave bad ratings want an easy a without putting effort. i didnt do all of the readings but his class lectures made me want to learn and retake him. Im done with my english classes though :( def a memorable experience.

Took him for Shakespeare this summer. BEST. CLASS. EVER. Loved the close reading. Very helpful in creatingwriting your paper. Looks at the meaning of one sentence and it's wonderful! Great way to end my time at Baruch.

He's one of the best professors at Baruch. Very attentive, doesn't drag on lectures, rather uses class discussion as a way to have students figure out literature. I will remember all the readings as they were very insightful. I guess I was very lucky with the class I got too, but he is really AMAZING! Long readings but all very interesting.

Professor Ramdass was one of the best English professor I ever had in my years in college. You have to make sure your go over the readings, take a lot of note ( because whatever he explains about the readings he kinda likes to see it on your paper). I would advise you not to miss a class as you will miss important informations

Professor Ramdass is one of the best professors at Baruch, and thats not hyperbole. He is enthusiastic about what he teaches and is easy to get along with. His class discussions are great. The grade you get is directly proportional to how much effort you put in. Participate, do the readings, and youll be fine. All in all, I enjoyed this class.

He's absolutely amazing. He brings such a fresh take on ancient tales, and it makes you want to read. If I could take him again, I would in a heartbeat. The homework isn't hard as long as you apply what was taught in class. The best English professor I've ever had, and he's very hot.

Hands down the most interesting and fun class that I've taken at Baruch. I don't usually write reviews for professors, and Harold is probably the only professor that I will review for my entire undergrad career. His in class discussions really dive deep into the text and he compares them to modern and funny familiar concepts. TAKE HIM, NO REGRETS!

Participation, Participation, Participation!!! This really makes all the difference. Participating in class discussions & online will make all the difference in your grade. You don't have to know the material inside out, as long as you can contribute textual evidence to the conversation, you're guaranteed at least a B. I would def him take again

He makes class incredibly engaging, and gives great feedback on writing assignments. Although the class was mostly about historical texts many of us have read before, we learned how to analyze them in ways that I have found useful for other classes. Fantastic Prof.

Prof Ramdass was amazing. It was a hybrid class so we only met once a week. We may have gone 5-20 mins over time every week but nobody would ever complain because class was so inspirational and entertaining. He simplifies things for you and will never set you up for failure. One of the most memorable ones. His lectures really make you think, not just about Shakespeare, but about a world in general and its repeating history. He leaves feedback on your assignments and as long as you put an effort in a class you should not worry. Make sure, you read the books to know individual characters. He is fun and engaging. Hugs

Took ENG 4140 in summer. Loved it! -Read 3 books (initially 4). Frequently changed the assignment schedule to extend due dates. -Attendance taken every day at the start of the class. -Group works in class; everyone had to say something (participation). -1 Midterm, 1 Final - essay exams. Allowed to bring outline & notes. -1 Exploratory Essay.

There is so much to learn from him if you take him, but this class is NOT an easy A. You have to read, participate in class, and spend some time to come up with a good thesis for your essays. He is a tough grader, so be prepared for that. There are also 10 minute presentations that you have to do every class.

Professor Ramdass is a wonderful and interesting, one of my greatest experiences at Baruch so far. Participating in class and showing that you read the book is important and necessary to get a good grade. He grades quite harshly on papers but don't worry about doing bad on the first paper because he grades on improvement.

He was a great professor definitely my favorite one that semester. His class is not hard at all. All the text we read were free pdfs. We had to write 3 compare and contrast papers that were about 4-5 pages long (double-spaced). The essays are really easy if you go to the lectures. I really enjoyed his lectures and highly suggest taking this class

It's rare you'll find a CUNY Professor as invested in your thesis as you are. He takes his work serious and teaches with passion. Once you enroll you'll have no regrets. The assignments are lengthy but the challenge is ultimately satisfying and I guarantee you'll walk with new perspective each time. He loves his work and it shows, don't miss out.

You'll be reading each time for class and discussion about it will be applied for the class. He gives VERY good feedback and have a one to one conference about the essays. As long as you know how to write specific writings, such as paper analyze, argument, etc. then you'll pass.

Ramdass gives lot of homework and drafts but he also gives guidelines and examples to follow. He is grading everything and lots of comments. I thought disney was easy when i register but he goes deep and shows how it is with the race, gender, cultures etc. If you have a problem he give more time and shorten the final paper too. c

Ramdass expects a lot but shows you how to do it. I had another prof for 2100 we talked a lot but ramdass is showing you how to write the thesis and paragraphs. I needed extra time for drafts because of covid and ramdass was okay and didnt take off any points. The dude is jacked.

This man really knows how to teach. We did 3 plays, a 7 page paper and a presentation. He really pushes your skills with close readings, different drafts & detailed feedback. The individual conference was super helpful. I took his fall 3010 after Shakespeare which was great too.

Not much hw, mostly readings and A LOT OF GROUP WORK. Not a fan of group work. Overall was fair and really engaging. Clear feedbacks and straightforward.

Hes a great professor who helped me improve my writing skills. He walks us through the assignments, and gives great feedback. Although he grades harshly, the overall grade he gives is always higher than what you received on the assignments. This is because he values effort, attendance, and participation. The professor so nice I had to take him twice ! I took him for ENG2100 and 2150 and honestly In my entire life I've never had a professor that was this good. He's a tough grader but he will grade you individually- meaning he will grade you in reality of your own improvement and such. Extremely kind and understanding. Please take this man.

This is hands down one of the best professors you can take at Baruch. In Spring'22, we had a Disney theme for the course, and it was very interesting and we dug into the actual meaning behind fairytales. Ramdass' class is never boring and there are always great conversations in class and great readings. Be prepared to read, write, speak & dig deep.

Prof Ramdass is a harsh grader, but don't let that scare you. He values effort above all. If you show that you improved your grade will be curved at the end. Furthermore, it's not a typical English class, it's definitely more participation heavy, but the topics are interesting and you choose what you read. He practically builds the syllabus w/ you.

He is super nice and understanding. About 2-3 papers and they are pretty detailed but he gives good feedback telling you exactly what is needed. There is a lot of reading and analysis but this helps you in the long run when writing the papers. Overall super caring and always down to have a conversation.
