He's the greatest guy, but he's used to teaching child geniuses.
He's very helpful if you have any problems, nice guy
Very difficult. Tests are much, much harder than homework
Very helpful, but tests are hard
No Comments
Tests are hard, but he adds lots of extra credit to tests to help you
Very nice man but VERY VERY hard tests compared to practice problems.
nice class, very helpful, For an A, study/ review material at least 3 hrs/week
hard tests,
If you like Math, try him! If NOT, don't.
too smart for his own good. 48% of our class recieved
His class was indeed hard but he provided a lot of help
if you wanna work ur @ss off for a C, hes ur man
Arrogant Asymtote Personality
This guy's more concerned about his stamp collection than teaching the class!
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! HE IS AN A$$.. that is all there is to it!
Too smart for his own good, NOT a good teacher at all...don't take his class!!!
Don't ask a question unless you want a smarta$$ remark
complete jerk don't take his class whatever you do, not worth the time and $
Nice, funny jokes, tests are harder then homework, but lots of extra credit!
doesn't answer questions!!
bad teaching, but still easy to get a good grade because of all the extra credit
goofy, a bit hard, but very willing to help
dont recommed, homeworks hard & so is following lectures he also plays favorites
No Comments
Hard material, but have alot of extra credits. HW doesn't matter much
No Comments
Doesn't answer questions. Doesn't explain material clearly.
doesn't answer questions!!
Wnat to have fun and at the same time learn Discret Math. Take him.
Dr. Reiter is goofy and it's a hard course, but he is always willing to help you if you need it. I would recommend him.
Doesnt answer questions and hard hard test, dont take him, find someone else!! shouldnt be teaching
nice guy. speaks english but the class should not be this difficult. be ready to bust your ass for a C
You must go to class to do well with this guy...can be a bit critical.
Very bad teacher, does not know how to teach. When solving problems, he usually writes out his solution and starts to say no no this isnt right...and starts all over again...NOW IS THIS A TEACHER?!!! NOOOOOOO DONNNT TAKE THIS LOONEY!!
you can at least understand him
This guy CAN NOT teach. He is very confusing, although he does speak english. He is more worried about telling his classes funny jokes thean tecahing us and then wonders why people do bad on his exams. I would be better off trying to teach myself!!!
This is the worst teacher that I have ever had in a math class. I had to goto tutors all year to learn the material covered in class. Teacher taught to one student in class and just forgot about the rest of us. I highly recommend not taking this instru
Can not TEACH at all. He get stuck on problems him self. Try not to take him or you will be in major trouble.
The worst Teach with a Doctrine. He need to go back to school for some teaching courses. You will fail if don't do well and get help form others. He is Very wierd and confusing teacher. Don't take him.
This guy knows math so well that he will make you feel stupid. Even asking for help he sometimes laughs in your face. With his level of knowledge, even he can't do many of his own homework assignments.. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE!!!!
took this class in summer so shoulda been even harder but busted my buns for an A and exemption from the final. this guy knows what hes talking about and taught some interesting stuff. nerds only apply for the interesting stuff
HE IS AWFUL...DO not take this class, he isn't understanding and accused about 15 people in my class of cheating when they weren't...he is old and grumpy DON'T TAKE HIM
great teacher. his homework is EXTREMELY hard/time consuming, but he is there to help. cares about the students and is very easy to understand and follow along with. very hard class but very beneficial
Great professor, if you do your very time comsuming homework, he teaches very clear and tests are not that bad, thought I would do terrible in his class but ended up getting an A.
Oh my Lord, I dread this class every single time. He has hearing problems and doesn't help students. If you go visit him in his office he will make you feel like an idiot. His tests aren't good. No easy homework and definitely NOT an easy A.
STAY AWAY!!if you don't like math or don't understand he is not the professor for you. he doesn't like you asking questions, i learned more in high school then his class. He's a JERK!!
extremely biased teacher; not very helpful or invovled with students
Great teacher who was very helpful with classmates made an A in the class. if having trouble go and see him and he will help you out a lot. some like some dont like. i thought was good teacher
He really can't hear and the tests are hard as hell.
Great, knowledgable teacher. Has fixed his hearing by getting hearing-aids. He is always willing to help. He really cares if a student does well. He saw I was struggling in his class, and was concerned for my achievement. I spent alot of time in his office for help.
IF YOU ARE PREPARED TO TEACH YOURSELF BUSINESS CAL. THEN GO FOR IT, IF NOT THEN PLEASE!!! FIND A NEW TEACHER!!! TESTS ARE HARD AS HELL EVEN WITH THE CHEAT SHEET...VERY AMBIGUIOUS IN TEACHING METHODS
He has a sense of humor. Hearing is terrible. Very enthusiatic about the course. Hard tests, but lots of bonus points possible. I thought he was awsome.
Very hard teacher, doesnt take time to explain examples. Very hard homework assignments which he assigns before he teaches the material which only hurts your grade. Please find another teacher!!!!

Don't take Reiter for Business Calculus.
Reiter is the worst professor I've ever had. Really bad hearing so you have to hell when ur right in front of him. Doesn't care about his students. There's a**** load of homework which he hasn't taught yet..kills ur grade. Tests..well lets just say they're murder. Don't take him if you want to pass. This man is evil, good luck staying awake!
Lots of extra sessions. Extra points available on tests. Very helpful 1 on 1. Hearing is a problem. Hard tests. I learned a lot!
Always avialable in his office for help and suggestions. Encouraging if you show effort.
WHATEVER YOU DO..DO NOT TAKE RIETER, YOU'RE GPA WILL THANK YOU. THE GUY IS EVIL AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENTS, CAN'T HEAR AND IT'S REALLY HARD TO TALK TO HIM. TAKE WAFAA SHABAN IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE!
Reiter's a smart, nice guy. He's always in his office and eager to help his students. If you read the book and come to class and listen you won't have much trouble.
quite posibly the worst professor at this school. avoid at all costs. he assigns graded homework for topics he'll attempt to teach AFTER it's graded. He only does 1 or 2 examples per class, and more often than not, he gets them wrong and won't know why. you're better off teaching yourself.
What an awesome guy! Hes very willing to go over things you don't understand. Dedicated whole classes to answering your questions. Grades homework, but you can usually do well if you try. Goes over tests, and he is funny and cares!!
This man is very interested in his students. He will actually learn everyone's name. Not only this but he's very helpful and can make things clear if you talk to him outside of class. If you get confused in class talk to him. He will be very abliged to make sure you know the material for the tests. DO THE PRACTICE TESTS.
A lot of work. But definetly worth it. He really enjoys his students, and will learn everyones name. You might need to work with others because he does leave a lot of lessons to be self taught, but he's def worth taking the class from.
This professor gives a TON of homework! Don't take his class if you are taking a full course load. Doesn't take attendance so if math is easy for you then you don't really need to go to class. His lectures are vague. I don't recommend him unless you are a math wiz and can teach yourself.
Dr. Reiter is a GREAT proffesor. he loves his student and are willing to spend extra time explaining problems with you. A lot of work but I took 18 credits and still managed a B. Do the webwork, hw, and go to his review session and you'll do great. attendance optional.
Great teacher, take him if you have the chance. Do all your homework and you will pass the class. Very helpful with any problems and test are 140 pts but 100 pts is an A plus. He is worth taking.
Sitting in the lecture hall of this class, I feel confused almost the entire time. I know that I am not alone. Almost every day, at least one student will raise his hand and say something like "I have no idea about any of the concepts of the entire problem, could you please start over?" The lectures are vague and the skills are unimportant.
he is a horrible teacher, he gives us homework then pushes the due date back because he forgets to go over the material in class. he also is really disrespectful to the students who have had issues come up that wasn't their fault. he doesn't know the material as a teacher, there is no test from previous years, nothing to study with!
The material he teaches is not in the book, there is no other professor who teaches the course, and there is no graduate student who has mastered the items to help. If you do not understand something, then you are simply stuck. If you are not a math major, do not take this class, extreme difficulty.
Possibly the worst teacher ive ever had....its like he is on a different brain wave than everyone else. Not Clear, Not Helpful, He is a nice smart man but is not a good teacher and tries to teach much bigger concepts outside of what is suppose to be taught within the class. I dont recomend at all!!!
I would not recommend taking his class. It was hard with a lot of work. Majority of the time we would turn in assignments before he went over the material in class.
study the old tests!
The practical application of this class is very high (for Computer Science). Nonetheless, his class structure sucks. We do the homework before he goes over it in class. He is really confusing at times and will spend an hour on something and then at the end say, “Well, don’t be too worried about this material.” I made a B and you can too.
Awesome teacher! If you took calculus in high school I wouldn't recommend him. HW due every class, webwork twice a week, both very easy. He gives final exam exemptions and you can earn up to 140 pts on each test + you get to use a cheat sheet. Do every hw, webwork, & study practice tests and u will get an A.
He is a great professor!!!! He helps his students a lot!!!! He schedules study sessions and anytime you need help you can go to his office. He gives hw every night and webwork once a week. He is very nice and friendly. He goes over practise tests, but they're a little challenging.Take him!!!!
Good person, very smart, but horrible teacher. Wants you to know how to do everything before he covers it. Class time is spent covering things that are not in the book. Tests are very hard. You will need to spend two or more hours per day with a tutor to pass this class with him teaching. (So what are we paying him for?)
Doesn't explain what you need to know for homework assignments and believes his student's should already know everything he's "teaching" when that isn't the case.
absolute worste teacher i've had at UNCC so far. Our class started our with 50 people and ended in 20. He makes you do the homework and grade it, then he'll teach you the lesson after.Teaches backwards.Test are very difficult. If you ask a question he tells you to work it out yourself. Stay away if youdont want to screw your GPA
Horrible teacher! Went over homework that was due that day for 90% of the class then just assigned more homework that we were "supposed to know already". I went to his office many times and he just made me feel stupid and never seemed to learn anything from him. If you need calc and he is the only professor left, beg to get into another class!!
I took him for business calc and I thought he was amazing. He would go over the material you needed to know with many examples and very clear. I got over a 100 on each test and didn't have to take the final. There is a lot of homework but if you do it, you'll pass for sure. By far one of my favorite teachers.
He is such a sweet guy! I love his cheesy yet cute personality. The class was a bit difficult. He assigns homework before teaching the material. That is always super hard! His exams are advanced but are usually curved and he allows a cheat sheet. Overall a hard class but dedicated students can do well!
True, homework is due BEFORE he teaches it, which is not my preferred way to learn. You will be in math tutoring more than you ever imagined unless you are math oriented. This class takes far too much of your time. He's a nice guy, willing to help you in his office. He is just on a math level that is far above most business calculus students.
This class was so hard, but it's because I'm not good at math. Do the homework and if you need to turn it in late just go to his office. Very willing to help and talks fast. If you do well on his test your exempt from the final. Take this class only if your good at math and enjoy it.
He grades on a point scale and the tests are pretty hard, but he is eager to help. My test scores were pretty low but I did all the homework and attended all of his classes and went to him for one on one tutoring before the final and ended up getting a B. He's a sweet guy and I loved his corny jokes.
By far the best math teacher I have EVER had. Grades on a 15 point grading scale, all the previous tests and finals are online for you to look at, there is alot of opportunity to improve your grade with homework and webwork if you do bad on the tests. You can make over 100 on every test and be exempt from the exam. Take him if you can!!!
Dr. Reiter is a great teacher. There is a lot of homework however without practice you will not learn anything in this course or basically any Math Course. I had done poorly on the three exams however got over 200 points on the final. I finished the class with a "B". I feel that Dr. Reiter is an asset to anyone that enjoys Math. Take Himfor1120
This class was extremely hard. He would assign homework and then teach it. BOO! I would not recommend taking him for calculus.. he teaches too fast and I did poorly in his class for making an A in algebra.
Mr. Reiter is an excellent professor, one of the best I've ever had. His class is not "easy", it requires a lot of work and attention... 5+ hrs/wk outside of class for me. He assigns a lot of homework straight out of the textbook, but he is very generous with extra credit opportunities, if you try hard enough you can definitely make a B or higher.
AVOID professor Reiter! Gives homework from book AND webwork. On top of that, he teaches AFTER the hw assignments are due! The tests had material on them that we didn't even go over in class. He's a very funny guy but the course just requires too much work. DO NOT get behind!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Teaches after you do the homework and explains everything in a way more difficult way than necessary. We had a sub 4 days and I learned more those days than any other day in that class
worst teacher ever. would not teach the material on the tests and most of the test was not covered by him or in the book. nice guy but I learned nothing from him and half the class either failed or quit coming.
REAL work required. 2-3 chapter section homework EVERY class session & webwork. Plan to spend atleast 5-7 hrs outside of class a wk to do hw/webwork. U can bring cheat sheet to exams but considerin that half the class failed still failed...I was dedicated on my hw but did bad on the exams, ended w/ a D. Take him if you are in for a challenge.
Calcus is very difficult no matter whom you take. Reiter is an excellent professor. If you truly put in the time & effort, you will not only pass but you will be well prepared for future courses. I did get an "A", but I did do all my hw, ww, and got a tutor because I knew that I would struggle otherwise. If you want to learn the material take it.
Dr. Reiter really pushes you in the first half. HW's are long and intense. Calculus is hard at first. His tests are curved, but he gets too creative with them. He expects you automatically recognize things you've never seen in class or in the book. Once you get the third test, he gets better, its like if youve made it this far, youre proven
I didn't really care for Prof. Reiter. He seemed more focused on attendance, people talking in class, etc. than teaching math. He taught like it was a high school class. He also would cram material in to fit it on the next test. I did well in the class, but I feel I did not get as much out of it as I would have liked.
Prob the worst teacher I have had in my college career. He didnt teach anything, you had to rely heavily on the book. His tests were pulled straight out of thin air and he doesnt seem to care for any of his students. a class of 60 turned into a class of like 17. AVOID THE OLD MAN unless youre trying to teach yourself calculus- which is hard
He gives homeowrk before he teaches the material and then grades it. He does not help you unless you go to his office hours. He assings a lot of homework and a lot of webwork. Don't take this class unless you're a math genius.
I really enjoyed having this professor! I had taken calc in highschool and learned nothing but I learned so much in his class. He does try to teach most the stuff before hw but takes hw questions at beginning of every class. Go to class and pay attention, do hw, ww and go to exam review sessions! You wont pass any calc w/o hw and studying!
!WARNING!:DO NOT TAKE HIM! He really needs to retire! atleast now before the decay function bites him and he loses his social security. Reiter is unable to connect or teach for that matter to students. HW is so awesome though because you have no clue how to do it, and its randomly graded. f(x)grading system=unclear, f'(x)=screwed, build sign chart!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! Speeds throught the material and only tests you on the hardest concepts in the section. If you don't understand the first time he tells you to get a tutor or read the book. Tests comprised of material you've never seen. Always had A's in mathematics and squeaked by with a C.... HORRIBLE!!!
It's only been a few weeks and I hate him. He assigns the homework before even SPEAKING about the topic in class. I really wish another professor would teach this class! I hate the feeling of being lost and spending endless hours trying to figure out 1 question when I have other homework to work on.
This professor teaches strictly by concept and uses little formulas to help students understand. Basically, he goes around the world before actually telling you how to solve the problem. His teaching method is very hard to grasp if your use to learning from formulas and rules like me instead of logical concepts such as why x approaches the origin.
DO not take! He doesn't really teach. He doesnt give you a chance to succeed in his class if you struggle what so ever because he is so unclear. You have to teach yourself by the book and he assigns homework before he covers the topic; his tests are just ridiculous. there is a reason why a class of 75 turned into 20 on test day.
Do please not take a class with oldish reiter, unless you want to get a C studying your ass off.
He assigns hw before we go over it. He randomly grades 4 problems of your hw when you've spent hours figuring it out. He gets an attitude if you ask him to go over an "easy" problem. He needs to bring it down a few notches. Most of his students earn a D or F. What does that say about him? He makes it wayyy harder than it should be.
This professor is HORRIBLE!! His notes are crap he barely teaches you the concepts he just does random problems. He assigns WAY to much homework and don't bother doing the practice exams because his tests are nothing like them. I dont't think I can stress enough how horrible he is!
Definitley have to work hard in the course, but once you make an A on the test, it's well worth it.
His class was hard because he spends too much time going over homework and not enough time teaching. He was a very nice man and very helpful, but he knows his stuff so well that he cant come down to our level. If you have taken calc before then you should be able to pass, but you need to pay attention and study. He also gives awesome curves
If you're great at math this class isn't that difficult. It will, however, be a lot of work. He utilizes book homework, webwork, practice test, and individual worksheets. All of it goes toward helping you actually understand Calculus and the concepts so that you know the material come test time w/o having to cram. If you're lazy, look elsewhere.
Horrible Professor. I have never worked so hard for a class to only earn a C. If you don't answer the questions exactly the way he wants it done on the test, you only get half credit even if you got the right answer! I do not recommend him for anybody, and I regret not dropping his class when I had the chance.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. Webwork due ever Friday evening, tons of homework problems from the book due every class period, though he said attendance is not mandatory. Expects you to already know what's going on in the class. Went to the MLC every day just to pass the class. Messes up examples, not very clear.
Doesn't teach. He only goes over homework he has assigned. Never take this professor!
Worst professor I've had. He's all over the place with notes and teaching. I never know what we're were talking about exactly. He tries to help but it just doesn't work. Definitely regret not dropping when I had the chance.
Awful professor. The assigned homework and webwork are pointless simply because the test is completely different. You never know what to expect on the test. Class average on Tests are always a failing percentage. Run away from the chance of taking this professor.
This class is great for those who wish to earn Their degree. If you do well on the final, you will do well on your final grade. Spend a fair portion of time working on the previous tests on his website, and use youtube to understand the material if necessary
DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU ARE ALREADY GOOD IN MATH. I'm not good in math in general(A&B in other college math). Very nice old man and really does want to help but he excepts you to understand everything. I went to everything and still failed the first test. Do the hw, the webwork is extra credit but I still dropped. There are better professors.
He is a really nice guy and wants to try his best to help us. It is not an easy class, to be frankly. Even though I am really good at math, I have to study very hard because some questions are kind of tricky. If you go to class and take notes and finish the hw, you will get at least get B in this class. This is college class.no pains no gains!
Seriously do not take him if you have any other options! I repeat...Do not take him if you have other options. Worst teacher I have ever had. Rushes through things, tells you not to get the book and then doesn't clearly go over things. Grades you on stuff he hasn't even covered yet.
Very nice guy. He actually cares about his students. However, he has no clue how to teach. Tests are 70% on concepts and idea's that have never been covered in class. To get an a on a test you have to get 50% of the test right, yet 80% of his students fail. To pass you only have to get 35% of the material. 80% of his students can't get 35% right.
Mr.Reiter is a very friendly teacher. He is one of the very few teachers who actually care about the students. As far as the course, the material is hard. He can sometimes be confusing when teaching however the methods he uses to teach the material are effective. If you take good notes and replicate how he works out problems you'll be fine. Study!
Most of the time, when a student fails, he tends to blame it on the teacher. Now how can you explain that you fail and in the same class, some succeed ? I think this is due to hard work. I recommend this class to hardworkers. The Teacher is open to any student and and helps a lot... being from a non-english speaking country, I still made an A !!!
The material of this class is difficult, but the class is not impossible. Professor Reiter doesn't teach directly from the textbook, but the textbook follows what he teaches. DO AS MANY PRACTICE PROBLEMS AS YOU CAN. Also, ASK FOR HELP FROM THE PROFESSOR. He can explain it better than your classmates, and if you express interest, it might pay off.
The class material isn't easy therefore the class isn't easy. If you want to be spoon fed answers don't take the class. Professor Reiter always tries to help. Make sure to practice outside of class. So worth the work when you finally understand!
Worst teacher experience I had all of UNCC. I am an over achiever, work super hard. He gave me a D on the first test, I went to him to talk about it and the way he treated me was insulting. He told me he should take more off my test for using the calculator for a problem. He was just unhelpful. I am passionate about math, but he could careless.
seems like a great teacher at first, but DO NOT TAKE HIM. EVER. EVEN IF YOUR FUTURE CAREER DEPENDS ON IT. Even if you go to the review session or see him in his office hours, it will not be helpful. if you take this class, make sure you already have passed a calculus class with flying colors and know everything there is to know on every topic.
If you are good at math, this class is not hard. As long as you do all of the assigned problem sets and webwork, you will understand. If you already learned how to do something in a previous math class, don't try and learn another way. That makes it confusing. Overall, not a bad class.
Very sweet old guy, but his class is hard. He has been teaching for forever, and has some confusing procedures. His homework is hard, but its the same stuff on the test. You really have to work hard in this class. He has a weird grading system. If you visit him in his office he is very helpful and friendly.
He is very caring, learns everyone's names by heart, and invites everyone to tea and cookies in his office. As a teacher he goes fast and is hard to understand, but don't quit!! I failed every test and every homework, but showed up for every class and did the extra credit webwork and he pulled my grade up to a B. He won't fail you if you try.
Reiter is a great old guy and means well. However he expects alot out of students and his lectures arent that clear you really have to bust your butt to do well. Passed the first test and failed the other two and pulled out a B. As long as you try and show up to all optional practice sessions and reviews he will make sure you do well.
Harold Reiter is one of the best professor I have had. He explains the concept very clearly but can be confusing sometimes. He takes great interest in his students. He hosts tea and cookies session few times in the semester. He is not only a good professor, he is good professional guide. He provided great advice for professional development.
He's a sweet guy and he means well. He holds sessions before every test for any questions. He keeps all previous tests on his website for practice. The tests are very hard. You get to use a sheet of notes for the tests. His notes are all over the place and isn't the best at explaining things. I used a tutor for this class. There is hw every week.
I loved Professor Reiter! He is the cutest grandpa ever, plus he is great at teaching calculus. He allows students to use cheat sheets on tests and he always has review sessions as well. He brings tea and cookies to about half the review sessions. I loved having him as a teacher. He brightened my day!
Professor Reiter is great. I'm in his business calculus class right now with a B. You definitely need to study for this class though. He has reviews very often and he is always willing to help during office hours. The course can be hard at times but it's not out of reach. Professor Reiter is also a boss.
Hardest class I've ever taken. His homework is close to impossible to get full credit for even if you know the answer. His grading is insanely tough. Tests are SO hard even if you know the material. Not a horrible teacher but he makes the class close to impossible. I regret not dropping out of it like the other half of the class
Good Calc teacher. You will need to get a tutor. He is easy to talk to if you need help. The class is difficult though, you need to do all the homework and make sure you work on it with a tutor. I got an a but I barely made it because I started poorly in the class. But over all he is a good teacher and I would definitely take him again.
Dr. Reiter is the toughest math professor in the department. If you are reading this message you are being warned. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH! He goes really fast and doesn't explain where he gets the numbers from. Great person but horrible teacher.
Professor Reiter is a complete boss. He knows his stuff. Students complain about him because they clearly don't put effort into their studies. I have taken his class and the only two tips I can give is to attend class and be careful on the weekly problem packet he assigns. They are graded a bit harsh. Grading scale is set up so you can pass.
If your not the type to study on your own and you require guidance every step of the way, his class is certainly not for you. If you have no issue putting in a few hrs of study a week this class is an EASY A! All of his old exams are posted online, so if you practice those your golden. Oh, and for an A on his exams you only need 85150 pts!!!
Dr. Reiter was a very helpful professor. In his class, you get what you put in. You really have to be willing to understand the material to be in his class. He is more than willing to help his students. Practice old tests online and you should be fine. I went to class everyday and never opened my book and finished with the highest grade.
First class I ever made less than a C in. I spent hours doing his homework and still failed most of it. The tests are tough. I only passed the first one and the final.
He was a nice professor! Very helpful and friendly if you come to his office! I was failing the course but studied hard for the final and managed to make it! Couldn't have done it without his help! His grading is hard and he does tend to go over your head sometimes when explaining things but try as hard as you can and go to his office!
Absolute worst professor I have ever had in my 3 years of college. Gives homework on things that were never covered in class. Makes things very difficult to understand. Don't even bother going to his office for help unless you want to get yelled at for not understanding something. Wish I would have dropped at the beginning of the semester.
I loved this teacher. He taught us the reason behind our math problems. This class challenged me and it was the best A I had ever earned. You are in college, it's nothing wrong with a little challenge. This class is lecture- based and does require you to figure out things, but Dr. Reiter was open to helping students who were motivated to learn.
This was my favorite class. His teaching is very proof-based, so you really understand what is going on behind the math. You will do fine on the tests if you really figure out what is going on in the problem sets. Homework is not mandatory but you should really do it if you want a good grade. Very nice man and he will help you learn calculus!
He is very good at explaining proofs and so forth. Can be quite funny as well.
Extremely harsh grader, you get little to no credit for things you did right on the test. Harshly grades the homework as well and provides little to no feedback.
He really is a good guy, but if you don't have a good base-knowledge of math, DON'T TAKE HIM. The webwork was pretty easy, but he gives problem sets that are usually super hard. I'm an A/B student and will be lucky if I make a C in the course. And don't bother going to his office, he gets mad/frustrated if you don't understand something. Very harsh
absolutely horrible teacher if you need a good grade. Is not helpful or understanding. Endless amounts of homework & the tests are near to impossible. There is a lot of extra credit built in but rare to achieve a high enough grade for it, even if you have a tutor it's still hard. The toughest grader i have EVER had.
Dr. Reiter is a great guy, but his teaching style is not good for a student like me. He goes really fast in his lectures and goes over one example for each concept and expects you to already know it. His tests are difficult and some questions on the test will be problems you have never done before. Take him only if you know calculus good already.
Dr. Reiter makes you work very hard for your grade. I barely managed to get a C and I worked my butt off to get it. His lectures are very confusing since he rushes thru everything. I wouldn't recommend taking him, but he isn't a terrible option. Very nice guy and will help you when you go to his office. Just not a fan of his teaching style.
Dr. Reiter is a very genuine profressor and he loves when students ask questions. He tries to help in any way possible along with his TAs. Calculus is a very difficult course itself, but attending the extra study sessions and not missing a day of class helps a lot!
Absolute worst class I've ever taken. I've made all A's for 3 years until this class. I've taken 4 other math classes and was successful in all of them until this one. All previous reviews are accurate. Impossible problem sets, take forever and you don't know how to solve. Won't help outside of class though he says he will. Nice guy but no to class
Ever since 7th grade Pre-Algebra, I struggled with math. I needed constant help from the teacher and smart students in class. Dr. Reiter teaches you how to LEARN the material so you can puzzle through difficult problems with things you already know. He gives you everything you need to succeed: Lots of problems, review session,& good grading.
I'm in love
Get out while you can
The hardest section of all the Calc1120 classes and he admits it on the first day. He's straightforward and does want his students to succeed even if he doesn't act like it sometimes. He teaches so that we understand the material and not just memorize it. Nice guy if you actually do your best and show that you are trying.
This is by far the worst professor I have EVER had. He's almost 80! His lectures made NO sense whatsoever. He didn't TEACH anything, he automatically expected us to be able to figure out how to do problems in the class. Like what is the point of having a TEACHER if I have to teach myself. He assigned homework before the topic was covered in class.
Worst professor I've ever had. His method of "teaching" was awful, as he expected us to know how to do everything and didn't really teach. Upon emailing him and asking him about my grade in the class because the grades were not posted to canvas, he insisted i consult his website which was an external site from canvas. Would not tell me midterm grad
He makes his sections of the class harder than the others, and openly admits that. Not the most interesting guy either. Only positive thing is the 15 point grading scale.
He uses a lot of technical terms and moves quickly. His way of teaching is to give you a problem, have you try and figure it out, and then teach you after you stare at your paper for 2 minutes. Basically be able to memorize everything on the paper in 30 seconds tops because you dont have time to copy.
A genuinely good professor. Honestly cares if students pass or not. His methods of teaching are a little diffcult though. Makes things much more complicated than needed. Still with a little effort, an A is very easy in this class. Offers a LOT of extra credit on tests which made my grade higher than a 100.
Harold was an amazing teacher that really cares about his students. If you show up to class and ask him questions, you will do well. His class is pretty tough but don't fear. He will try and do everything to help you if you show him that you will put in the effort. Go to the TA sessions! Harold still meets with me to just talk about how I am today.
Weird guy.
