He's a good guy. Answers questions in ways we can understand. He writes on the board weird, and i think he only has 2 sweatervests that he always wears, but he definitely knows the material he teaches.

Great teacher. Takes an interest in the material and cares about the student. He's a little weird, but it makes it interesting! Only complaint, he talks softly, so it might be hard to hear in the back of a large classroom.

He seemed to want to be teaching each session. He came in and tried his hardest to make it interesting, which is hard in a class of 150 students. I thought he did a great job considering how large the class was.

This guy rocks! He is so funny and his class is a lot of fun. Especially movie time.

He is a professor worth recommending. Very into his work and really does own only two sweatervests but is a really great teacher. Also he teaches defense maneuvers like getting in a corner and kick and yell when you are being attacked.

How can you not like Mr. Tollefson! He rocks. He brings in old movie clips and records of music from the era being studied. Definatly take him while you are a freshman, he makes coming to class easy

Overall good just pay attention because what he syas in class will be on the tests

he leans backwrds and has some mad wit. also he sings who let the dawgs out quite well. i want to marry him.

Dr. Tollefson is definatly the coolest "old" professor this school has. I loved his video breaks, good times for a little snooze when you are really tired. He also tries to make his class fun!

Tollefson is a nice guy. He doesn't give out any assignments requiring the textboot for the Roots of Modern Europe class. I would reccomend not buying it.

He is great. The gives you every answer for every test. As long as you come to class on the review days, you are guarenteed to pass each test. And he shows pretty good films each class period.

Awesome professor, really funny and quirky. Will teach you a LOT about history. Very knowledgeable professor, has TONS of slides, photos, videos, etc to show you related to the topic. One of the very best at NMSU.

He is a very interesting and nice man. If you struggle with History classes he's by far the most interesting teacher within the department and gives you lots of opportunity to pass with an A. You can tell he really loves his job :)

Mr.T is awesome! It's disturbing people won't go to his class. If they did they would easily pass and learn something. I love his video breaks too. I actually learned a great deal plus an A.

Dr. Tollefson is the sweetest man ever! He is so passionate about the subject! The second half of every class he would do a video break about what he just lectured on. The videos varied to SNL skits to old movies to documentaries! Loved the class.

LOVED this class! totally agree with the previous person, he's super passionate and easy to understand. He loves talking about Egypt, so go into his office hours and ask him about it and he'll love you. Easy, easy B but put some effort in and you'll get an A.

Amazing professor! Makes such a bland subject entertaining. An easy A, as long as you attend lecture every time. Teaches straight off his notes. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! I never opened mine once. Best professor I've had so far at NMSU. Would highly recommend.

I've had professor Tollefson for 3 classes now both lower and upper level. He always picks great books and is willing to help students. He is still in the dark ages and uses an overhead projector. There is a video selection for each class dealing with the lecture.

Such a very nice person and teacher. Really loves his job and and cares for the success of his students! Highly recommend any class offered by him!

He made the class go smoothly even though attendance wasn't counted I still went and received an A. Would highly recommend any classes with him to take both an easier semester and to have a couple of laughs in history.

He really is a great professor. When studying certain things, he offers up his own experience if he has been there (Egypt for example). His stories he tells are really funny too. His assignments are easy and the quizzes aren't hard at all. If you go to class and pay attention, you will pass.

This class was an easy A class. However, you have to study. Otherwise, you will fail. Dr. Tollefson is also extremely nice to his students, and makes his lecture somewhat interesting.

Would highly recommend taking any class from Tollefson. His lectures can be quite interesting and he his very humble when speaking to his students. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I recommend attending every class that you can because he does reward those who do. A great percentage of your grade will rely on how you do on his tests, so study.

This class is not to difficult, make sure you come to class to get more information on the readings he assigns. You can tell he is passionate about history, shows videos & images! He is randomly funny which is entertaining because you do not expect it. Doesn't have a lot of work so makes grading easy and strict. Overall I would take another class!

Great class to learn. Amazing teaching methods mixing in funny stories and relation to modern media. Take notes, study them an hour before class, and this is an easy A.

When taking notes, he let you know what to "highlight" or write down the key points of something. The practice exams were very helpful and prepared you for the actual exam. He is very knowledgeable about the topics and pulls from his research in Egypt. Great professor!

He is the cutest old man I've ever met! He is very knowledgeable about history and nice. He has 2 midterms, 2 short papers, and one quiz throughout the class. For exams he gives you 2 options, 30 question exam or 10 questions with an essay. Has Youtube breaks. Don't buy the book. Uses outlines. Go to class because he doesn't use canvas much.

Tollefson is just a great overall college professor! He will help you and is always accessible for his students! Mini video breaks, and constant corny jokes is what made me love him as a professor!

He doesn't post grades online which can be a little annoying. the tests are easy and he does a review the class before which really helps. his lectures are alright, there interesting and he sometimes has youtube breaks which are nice. I would take his class again because it was an easy A and i only showed up to class about 60% of the time.

Professor Tollefson is a great history teacher and you can see he loves to teach it. His lectures are quick, funny, and give all and only the material needed for his midterms. He also ends each class with a video which made me want to go to lecture. Do not buy any of the books, and be aware he only has 4 grades total so do your best on them.

Amazing professor so passionate about the subject! The text book is never used . Attendance not mandatory but he gives extra credit sometimes to those who go. He shows a clip every lecture. Please answer his questions when hes making conversation! Only 4 assignments, so do good

This professor is so cool, I loved his enthusiasm, he was very sweet and likes to engage with the class beforehand about current events. You don't have to show up, all lectures were available online so you could look at them before an Exam or Quiz. Very cool guy.

Dr. Tollefson is a great guy. He never seems phased by the lack of people who show up to his lectures, and will try to engage the class at least a little bit at the beginning of each lecture with an overview about that week's sports, movies, etc. His exams are multiple choice with an optional essay portion and he gives a few short writings.

Mr. Toffelson was the sweetest most enthusiastic guy. Although you do not need to attend lectures necessarily I always enjoyed his energy and would. He is super passionate about his field and extremely nice and approachable! The assignments are not hard but the tests you should definitely set aside a day or two to study if you want to do well

This class was super easy and the professor really gets into his lectures. Just study the notes he gives you and you're guaranteed to pass.

I took Modern Europe and Mr. T is the sweetest man ever. He is one of the best profs I've had for sure. You don't need the book as long as you read/watch the lecture material he provides, and the only thing he grades by are exams (which are mostly based on practice questions he provides and gives answers to) and a short written assignment. 10/10 :)

This class was the least stressful class all of Covid. He was very understanding and VERY straight forward about what was going to be done for the class. He posted a lot of lectures for the class but they aren't long or boring. If you do the assignments and the tests you're good to go. Also, he replies to emails really fast.

Prof. Tollefson is such a good guy. He puts a lot of work into his lectures and you can really tell he cares about what he's teaching. You got to take notes and pay attention but everything he quizzes you on is in the notes and it's specified in bold what will be on quizzes. It is such an easy A if you study and show up. Very Interesting too

Greatest professor I had through undergrad. I regret not taking him as seriously and being distracted by my phone and other kids. He is the most kind, caring, and funny prof I ever met there. His grading was very fair and gave easy assignments. To anyone reading in the future I beg of you, give him your time and attention because he deserves it!
