Tests are no brainers!
She does not help and seems to have an attitude all the time. She expects everything done right or not done at all. She is a hard grader and all you can do is pray if you are not good at English
I dropped the class because she was such a ****. Everytime I would ask for help she would talk down to me. I'm sorry, if you talk to the student like she's a moron then that doesn't help. Nearly flunked when I usually make A's in English.
crazy!!!!

If you have to take a Lit. class DO NOT take British Lit. Haidusek knew a lot but wasn't a very good teacher.
DONT TAKE BRIT LIT!!! I BEG YOU FIND ANOTHER CLASS IF POSSIBLE. UNLESS YOU LOVE TO READ AND PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS. OKAY JUST DROP THIS COURSE!
The previous posters must have been immature/rude because Haidusek was a cool teacher. I made an A and missed a lot of class. Just take notes in class and read the material and it is an easy B at the very least. You have to READ in a LIT. class in order to do well. There is a research paper in all sophmore lit classes at LU- hardest part.
Mrs. Haidusek has a horrible attitude. She is knowledgable about all subject matter, but acts as though you are stupid when you ask her a question. She seems to have a lot going on in her personal life that interfered with class (cancelled class a lot with no notification). I passed with an A, but it was a horrible experience.
Worst English Class Ever. She talks down to everyone, she assigns lots of busywork, and she is very picky. She is also very strict about attendence and will turn you away if you try to come in even a minute late. Haidusek's class is painfully boring and a waste of time. She looks like even she doesn't want to be there. AVOID!
talks down to students, picky about work, does not listen closely and answer all questions when u ask her something, u can tell from the moment she walks in what her mood is. not extremely hard, but she is picky. her exams r not multiple question..ex. if asked what a word means..u must write the whole definition out.
I agree she does talk down to her students and can get annoyed by questions. Other than that shes really easy! its very elementry work and shes a fairly easy grader. She will talk about her life and stuff but dont try to add comments from your own.
VERY PICKY GRADING on essays. She makes you go back and revise them. You have 5 essays throughout the semester and like 40 homework assignments. DO NOT WALK IN CLASS LATE...she will call u out.
"I love the colts" I love you Ms. H. Very good professor. Turn in a descent essay, get an A. Best eng. professor. Only one problem, shes taken. Very attractive :)
Although I must say that it was interesting at times, Mrs. H's class is hard. She is a picky teacher. When you thought you done the best that you can on a paper, she will put red lines through the whole paper. Sorry, but this teacher is horrible.
You do your homework, which is really easy, then you get A's on your tests it is pretty strait foward. She is funny and involves the class, only if willing of course. I got an A
She gives out a syllabus that she exactly sticks to thru the whole semester. Essays were not too bad, and she gives you a chance to edit them after you get them back for extra 5 points. Only bad thing is that if you're sick and out for 4 days, she will not count it as excused. Other than that, I loved it..oh, and she loves the NFL Colts.
I struggled through this entire class. She expects WAYYY to much from you. I had 2 papers, an outline and bibliography due all in one class at one point. She makes the papers extremely difficult and talks down to students alot.
It's not that it is difficult to do the work. It's that she has many stipulations that must be met. Thankfully she lets you make corrections to get a better grade. You are allowed to be abscent for 4 classes, after that there are penalties. Make sure you have your books, you will use them. And DONT be late for class. Can't come in after.
she was really nice and aweseome. well, i took her for brit lit in the winter mini, and it was easy. one essay and there were daiy quizzes and three tests which was soo easy. you just need to read the story that is assigned.
This teacher is alright. Its good to stay on her good side bc if not, she will be hard on you.
at first it seems like you have to read all these various readings and its a lot of work, but its worth it. quizzes are easy and nice to have for more grades and she teaches the material accordingly. yes reading is boring but it opens your mind to what has happened in the past that which is important.
I took her during the summer. She wasn't too bad. I got an A but I did notice she plays favorites a bit. Sometimes she talks down to students. Used the books a lot. Not a horrible teacher but there are better english teachers. Donald Carey is the way to go.
She is a wonderful teacher and her passion for literature shines through to make her class interesting.
At first I really didnt care much for her, but she ended up being an okay teacher. She loves her job and her students. The relationship with her is one you should look forward to carrying througout the course. She gives alot of book work, but in the end, you will have learned alot and know how to write a "College" paper! Cool Lady
I took her Fall 2008. Her class is not hard if you actually do the work. There were no grammar test as with some of the other professors so that was a plus. We had homework almost every night, and like 5 essays including a big research paper. She requires rough drafts, peer editing, and a stapled paper, w/o them, she deducts pts. Take G. Johnson!!!
She loves to mark out all over peoples essays. Leaves long notes at the end of every essay to let you know what you did wrong, not what you did right. She comes off as a smart mouth. She laughs when she proves someone wrong. I think she cares about her students and her job, but she could be less harsh. Lots of book work and about 5 essays.
Dont expect nice things from her...even when she edits your paper it will be about all the bad things. she grades hard and has a slight attitude issue.. i advise just about anybody else
She is a rather difficult teacher. Make sure you buy the books because she uses them daily. She assigins a lot of daily work which is rather uneeded. She does not use Blackboard, which makes it difficult to figure out your grade. Even if you are agreat essay writer you will stuggle a bit with her class. I wouldn't take her again though.
I took her in the fall of 2012. Almost every day we had a reading assignment (sometimes ridiculously long, and sometimes reasonable) then she would lecture. Every day we had a quiz over the reading assignment, the questions were very specific, then she would lecture. This class may be easy for some people but it was very difficult for me.
I BARLEY PASSED.I DON'T RECOMMEND YOU TAKE THIS TEACHER SHE IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL..THERE IS A PAPER DUE EVERY WEEK.BUY THE BOOK BECAUSE SHE GIVES POP UP QUIZZES ON THE READINGS. THE SLIPS SHE GIVES OUT TO UPDATE YOU ON YOUR GRADE ISN'T RELIABLE.THE FINAL MEANS NOTHING. EVEN IF YOU SHOW INTEREST IN WANTING TO PASS SHE DOESN'T CARE.. DON'T TAKE HER!
This professor is extremely difficult. I do not recommend taking her unless you are an English major, and even then, only if you want someone to grade you harshly. She is TOUGH, and demands 4th year college level essays even in your first semester. Honestly, a very painful and dull experience.
She expects much out of her students, but do not confuse this for rudeness. If you stay on top of your assignments and come to class everyday, you should have no problems. Otherwise, she knows immediately when you're not trying/reading the assignments and she will grade accordingly. Great teacher. Tough, but would take again.
I have mixed feelings about Professor Haidusek. I managed to get out of her class with a B but it was pretty hard won. I expect my college courses to be difficult, and she did not demand anything really crazy, but she just was not an enjoyable person. I just dreaded going to her class and that just ruined the experience for me. You could do better.
There are no tests but there are about 4 essays. She grades them harshly and if not full 2 12 pages, its an incomplete grade. She will give them back for revision but only to increase grade by 3 points. At the beginning there are reading quizzes and book exercises but then a group project. I ended up doing all the work but did good in presentation
Do not take her class if describe her as the devil of you make a bad grade or miss class no mercy
If you attend and do all of your work you will be fine. She gives a lot of quizzes at the beginning, a few papers, and a group project. I managed to receive an A even with low quiz grades.
Show up, take an easy quiz over your reading material, then listen to a lecture. Occasionally a group project in class, usually just summarizing poetry in laymans terms or analyzing a characters traits. Will not let you in class late. Will ask you to put up your phone. If you're willing to read easy material and glance at notes, you will pass.
Mrs. Haidusek loves to assign essay after essay after essay. DO Not Take her!!!!!
She explains things very poorly, talks to her students like they're stupid, doesn't give back essays (which on the first day of her class she promised to do), and her class was easily the hardest one i had my first semester. Thank god the guy sitting beside me had a since of humor or i would've dropped
Egotistical woman, pretty much useless in every way.
She is so infuriating. At the beginning of the semester, we were told we would get papers back in a timely manner. We got all 5 papers back at the end of the semester to correct and return. Nothing was ever good enough for her. I will never take her again and I recommend no one else take her either.
She said that there would be optional extra credit for paper revisions then turned around and said that if you dont do them then five points will be deducted. Got into a car wreck for the finals arrived to class late showed her the report and literally told me there was nothing she could do and made a confused face and stared at me...
I am an Englsih Major, and typically I get an A in all English classes, This woman? Horrible. She didn't give us back several of our essays, she has no positivity in her grading (only really tough criticism), and accused me of plagiarism I did not commit, and looked at me like I was a groveling peasant when I explained that there had been no crime
Day 1dropped. She was rude offensive and extremely egotistical. Said no leaving class early even if a family member died because "they'd still be dead anyways". Was rude to a guy who spoke broken english. And insinuated that all students in the class were illiterate and could only succeed with her help. List goes on, but do you need to know more?
The teacher has strict tendencies, like if you come in while roll is being called, don't expect to be able to enter the classroom. Overall she is pretty nice and likes to laugh with the class. Every assignment is straight out of the textbook, and easy if you follow the directions.
Really tough grader. She always seemed to be in a bad mood. The vibe of the class as a whole was more like that of a high school where you can't leave without permission, no phones allowed, no talking or even whispering, and an overall bad attitude all the time. She asked me to leave the class times because my paper was not properly formatted.
Lots of quizzes over reading assignments. Usually have homework. Teaches a lot of grammar. Treats students like children, no water in class etc. Freaks out if she even hears a phone vibrate. Does not let you come in late to class. Definitely makes you work for a A.
I have never hated a professor more in my life, and I am an English major! She grades exceptionally hard and is insanely picky, if you write something in the wrong format she refuses to take it. We did not get our grades on the first paper until after the drop period was over. Did not know my average until right before the final. DO NOT TAKE.
She is very sarcastic during class meetings
Didn't give essays back to grade like she said she would.
Very difficult English teacher
I don't get her class at all
Haidusek is an interesting character. She is nice when addressing the full class and sometimes, actually, funny. BUT, when one-on-one, she can be kind of degrading and it's rare when you get grades back. BUT, she gives you papers at the end of the semester to receive a better grade. She's okay. Wouldn't be first choice, but you can deal with her.
She was a rude professor. I would not recommend anyone to take her class.
Confusing, blunt, non-punctual. If you get stuck in this class just hold on tight and try not to displease her (not easy). She means well and gives lots of feedback, but fails to explain assignments fully and scolds students for not understanding unclear instructions. Oh, and don't expect your graded essays back on time. Good luck...
I would NOT recommend. Very disorganized, never got essays back so essentially my classmates and I did not know how we were doing until after final grades were posted. Very rude. Would not recommend her at all unless you like someone who is very rude to her students. It was not a good start to my first semester of college to have her.
Professor Haidusek is a great teacher. There are no tests, only 4 essays and a group project essay (it's not bad at all). If you have a reading assignment theres a high chance there will be a quiz. Quizzes can be a little specific so just pay attention to the details. If you follow her directions, easy A. She truly isn't a bad teacher or hard grader
Not much
Mrs. Haidusek is probably one of the worst teachers I have encountered during my college experience, and that may be harsh but it is true. Shes always late, shes extremely sarcastic, and when you ask a simple question, she always has to be rude about it. I dont recommend anybody to take her honestly I wish I did not take her.
Worst professor Ive ever had. Shes way too picky about unnecessary things. 21 lines on your rough draft instead of 22? Dont even bother coming to class because shell kick you out. Will give you a 50 if your formatting is wrong. reading quizzes will be over the most trivial info such as what color shoe the character was wearing. stay away.
I did well in this class. As long as you show up and do you papers how she asks you to you will be fine. If you miss more than 6 days (i think) you will fail. Very sweet lady if you respect her.
She comes across as rude but seems initially very sweet. She doesn't take late assignments and she doesn't do make-ups. if you have questions, try to make a buddy in the class because when you ask her even if you don't get it, she comes across as rude and mean and and Superior like you're stupid for asking.
Shes pretty good with updates, but very specific when it comes to formatting.
I took this teacher because a friend recommended her to me... worst mistake of my college career. I wouldnt recommend taking this teacher if you have a creative mind. She limits your thinking and talks about nonsense every day in class. This teacher will waste your time!
I took her for composition 1 and she was good. She asks for outlines, then drafts, and then final drafts so you prepare your essay little by little. She gives good feedback for your essays but it's sometimes hard to know what she actually expects in your essays. She also gives quizzes for all of the assigned readings.
She is serious about grading and provides feedback for you to figure out how to improve your papers. She is not afraid to joke around with the class but when it comes down to business, she means it. Put in the effort and you will get the grade you deserve. As a freshman, her course can be best compared to an AP level course in high school.
Worst english teacher i have ever had. Does not care at all if you are going through personal probelms, if you dont come to class you will get a zero. Nothing is good enough, I would do EXACTLY what she would ask for on my revision papers and i would still receive low grades. She clearly talks down students when you asks questions. Terrible.
This professor shouldn't even teach considering the way she talks to students. If it's not her way it is WRONG and there are no exceptions. If you try to so much as offer your two-sense be ready to get ignored and practically shamed for even thinking of what you said. She makes you feel like a lesser being for asking a question that she knows
Worst Teacher in Texas refers you to the syllabus never actually teaches at all and the pop quizzes are the worst and don't have anything to do with the curriculum not recommended
I learned a lot from Professor Haidusek. She made me a better writer. After taking her class, I feel a lot more confident in my writing abilities. There are a few steps you have have to take before submitting final drafts. She teaches you certain skills for a reason. She gives students easy worksheets. Overall, my experience in this class was good.
She's very flexible with your work. We only had to do four essays and some small working assignments and make sure to turn in your work in time.
She is very specific with what she wants you to do and you could follow her instructions to a T and she'll still reject your work, extremely contradicting. She can be very sweet but very condescending when you ask a question. Also if you like creative writing, do not take this class, she will diminish whatever inspiration you had.
Difficult teacher. Often would hold me back and was stubborn on how a particular assignment needed to be. Was not as helpful with the information she had given me. I felt belittled and felt as if the class was not on my level.
Most people didnt like her however if you get the chance to know her she is very kind. She always checked up on me when I missed a class. She bumped my B up to an A. Essays come fast but for the most part she helps you compose them to get an A. I would definitely take her again.
She does not give second chances if you forgot a paper or accidentally write in pencil on a quiz or test. One of her students just stormed out of the class because of a pop quiz. She does try to "teach" to be responsible, but in the classroom she does not care to help your grade or give any extra credit to bump it up either. I hope you can pass.
Worst teacher ever, the most useless, boring and annoying class ever. And she is the definition of mental, physiological and emotional stress.
Professor Haidusek has a "shove off" attitude, I noticed with every student she tends to give generalized answers when you ask specific answers. She tends to leave you questioned on what route to take then blames you when you act because of you not knowing or not being sure what to have done. I wouldn't recommend her as a professor to eng freshmen
I would never take this class again. She is very rude and does not care about your feelings. She is a hard grader, and it's her way or the highway. She does not teach. get ready for useless pop quizzes, and do not purchase the book it is a waste of money, I truly never want to see or hear her voice ever again, she is the reason people drop out.
She was moderately tough. If you have the mindset of, "do exactly what she says however she says to do it" then you'll be fine. If you ask her for help after class or during office hours, she is very very helpful.
Avoid taking her if you can. She is very particular with what she wants in her essays and will dock points if it's "wrong." My essays were not as good as they usually are because I had to downgrade them to her liking. She doesn't usually grade essays above a 95 because she wants everyone to correct their essays for +5 points.
Definitely recommend. For the first paper she let you make corrections and still receive full credit. If you just do exactly what she says you will pass. ATTENDANCE MATTERS! she gives quizzes:if you are late on those days she will NOT let you take the quiz. Total of 4 papers, she gives examples on how they should be written.
Oh my god.
Just know that she is very hard and kinda disrespectful and wants your essays her way! Her class has been real hard on me that mentally I was going insane I prefer to take a different approach next semester.
She is absolutely brutal when it comes to grading essays. Forget everything you know about writing essays prior to the class, cause her criteria is completely different. Although she does give good feedback on the essays, some of the corrections are odd, such as using the wrong synonym or writing a sentence that's too complex.
do not take this professor. she is very quick to put zeros in the gradebook, even if you turn in your assignments on time with all the components in the grading criteria. instead of having a clear grading schedule, she fluctuates due dates on assignments/essays and expects you to just "know" when things are due with little to no communication.
DO NOT TAKE! She refuses to accept any thesis statements or papers unless they are exactly how she wants them, which often limits your freedom of thought and creativity.
I took Mrs. Haidusek for both 1301 and 1302. Attendance is mandatory. Both classes consisted of quizzes and ~4 essays. She is clear on grading and if you adhere to her requirements, its easy to get a high grade. Some of the essays are required to be written in class. She also lets you revise most essays for a higher grade. Good teacher overall!
If you do one small thing wrong she will throw your paper away without even telling you and then you will end up having to redo the whole thing and or process. She talks to her students like they are in elementary and acts as if she is above everyone. She is not one to care about the students she teaches but rather would just like to get class done
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I will tell everyone that if i can. she's the opposite of what you look for in a teacher. Lamar needs to get rid of her. she's disrespectful to all students and does not care about anyone but herself. She has made me cry of anger twice already. avoid her at all cost. not a good teacher.
She is disrespectful and rude to her students for no reason other than her large ego. She doesn't communicate with her students at all, instead of helping you she will just throw your paper away and give you a zero.
She insists on having everything completed precisely as she desires. I can't even remember how many times I've written thesis statements, but every time, I would receive the same response: NO! You cannot compose the essay until she approves the outline.
Get ready for a ride she's a big talker, lots of side stories, and has a very bubbly personality which kinda helps to get through her lectures. our grades consisted of short essay questions and a few tests. She gives very goof feedback on why you received the grade you did and allows retesting after each one. 100 percent recommend
Hard to get along with her. No freedom in writing class; she oversees everything. I believe that she is bothered by everything I send her. I hate when she corrects my work and then I send it back, and she makes further modifications when I email it again. I realize she's trying to help, but why didn't she inform me in one email instead of many?
If you were not in class when she called roll, you were not accounted for. Her lectures were well-presented and clear. The worst part was getting papers back. She had us write 4 essays throughout the year and I did not know the final grade of my first two papers until final grades were posted. These essays were worth 20% of our grade.
She wasn't bad. Shared a lot of interesting stories about her life. She is very picky about how she wants things to be, so if what you do isn't what she likes, she won't accept it. Essays feel as though they are back-to-back, so be ready to write a lot. She explained things relatively well, so I will give her credit for that. Just a tough grader.
please pick a different teacher yall...
Please pick a different professor. She is very specific about how she wants things done, and if you forget to staple your papers, she will not let you quickly staple them and turn them in because it is considered “late,” even if you try to submit them within the same class period. You absolutely cannot miss class, or you will fail.
Please pick a different instructor. I usually give grace but she was cruel to students and very rude. If you don't go to class just drop out of her period, you will fail. It really wasn't a very hard class, but she was just rude and disrespectful. She is a high school English teacher from hell.
