He's excited to teach and clearly presents what you need to know to understand the concepts. There is time worked into the class to just have a conversation about the subject. This is the first teacher I have had who has gotten the class to give him written feedback on his teaching in the first couple weeks so he can make adjustments.
Excited to teach, funny, helpful.
this guy was amazing, so helpful, and so funny. I could sit In his class all day :)
Harris is awesome. His lectures were really enjoyable and not to mention hilarious. I could definitely sit in that class all day. He's really helpful and understanding. I would definitely recommend taking any of his classes. My favourite prof @ MRU for sure!
Loved having Harris this semester! His little jokes are amusing and his lectures are interesting. You have to put in the effort for a good mark, but overall he was fantastic!
Great teacher! So funny, super nice and is always willing to help. His lectures are very clear and organized; make sure you read the assigned textbook chapters beforehand. His good-looks are a little destracting though. Would recommend to anyone.
Great Prof. Makes even the most dry material seem interesting. His applications were very helpful as they helped you understand how the material applies to the real world. agreed with having to read textbook before class, and go to class. You need to attend to get a good grade.
Fairly easy course outline, tests are pretty easy and is hilarious
Very clear with what his expectations are. Funny, interesting and hilarious. He definitely knows what he's teaching and his notes very clearly list out the main key points in the chapters. I hope I can take him for other classes.
I don't understand what the fuss is about. All he does is go over powerpoints in class. Very little care about being comprehensive with course material. I highly suspect that he also curves, because he insists on average grade for the class being 65 - 70. Keeps bringing this up again and again. Why? Guess it makes up for his teaching shortcomings
Well prepared lectures. Tells you what you need to know, and takes time to answer questions. Office hours are helpful if you're not understanding the material. Read the textbook ahead of time and you'll be set. Other than that, very nice prof. and brings candy to tests. Nice bonus.
As a science major, I'm surprisingly very intrigued with the class, and this guy's the culprit. He makes the class engaging and livens up the material with his jokes. Very approachable and easygoing! I've already recommended Harris to a plethora of other students. He's really a great prof.
With the exception of attending the lecture for a mandatory participation grade, there was no point in attending this class. The lectures are directly read from power-point slides that he posts online, you could read the textbook and get the information he provides. Not at all helpful with group projects.
Loved having class with Harris - I'm saddened that it's over. Harris is a phenomenal teacher with a lot of great insights. If you read the textbook and went to office hours regularly it's an easy win. Okay, maybe not an easy A, but you'll learn a lot more. He's helpful and genuine. He makes you feel like you're his only student. Recommend!
Very helpful. Loved him...
Good guy, decent class, but marks very hard for a first yr requirement. I barely passed for participation and spoke up and attended more than most.
Harris is great. He has a funny sense of humour. But this course is DRY (not his fault). Marked the group projects a bit more difficult than I expected. For midterm and final you really do need to put some effort in to study. This is a class where memorizing processes and important details comes in handy as it makes even application questions easy
The lectures were fun and he has a way of capturing his students attention. The tests are pretty easy if you actually read the textbook. He is a very likeable guy.
Awesome prof. Turns an otherwise dreary class into something fun and engaging.
He's definitely the best prof I've had at MRU so far! Tests are easy and straight forward as long as you put the effort in to actually study! Very down to earth and makes class interesting! Would recommend him to anyone!
Harris was a great prof, very funny, nice and a little quirkyshy. He made lectured interesting and fun, used allot of mnemonic devices to help students remember lecture material (Eg. "Hippocampus - Structure of the brain that contributes to memory, If a Hippo was on campus you would probably remember that!"). Will pass on lecture notes alone.
Most reasonable and chillest prof ever. He is a really qualified academic but talks to students like one of them.
Best prof hands down!!!!! i would take him over and over and over again! and his bad jokes are so bad it actually makes you laugh!. But seriously, great lectures, very clear on his expectations, and the tests are very fair if you study (and he gets the red paper ;p)
Harris is a great prof! Super nice guy who will go out of his way to help you and make sure you understand the material. His lectures are always well prepared and he keeps things interesting by using games/class activities. Assignments and tests are pretty easy, he is really clear on what to expect. I would take another class with him in a second
He's a great prof, but he's a stingy marker and definitely uses a grade curve for projects. He's funny, and will help you understand anything if you talk to him. I definitely enjoyed his class and didn't miss many lectures, but you're going to have to work extremely hard to get anything about an A- in this class. I still would recommend him though.
Don't bother showing up to class, everything is posted on blackboard and Harris just reads word for word from them. Lectures are long and boring, same stuff every class. Plus to add to that he is a tough marker!! Would NOT recommend!
Great lectures , a good class to take. Very helpful and very approachable. He is a tough grader so be aware !!
Awesome teacher! lets you ask questions at any time. For the Midterm and Final READ THE TEXTBOOK his lecture slides wont cover everything despite him saying that it while. Either way great teacher and funny dad jokes.
From a personality standpoint, he's probably one of the best profs I've had. Really laid back, and funny. However, his lectures are literally pointless. He does provide marks for attendance, which was really the only reason I showed up to class. Otherwise, if you read the textbook and lecture slides, you're good. He's a HARD marker, be prepared
He is a good teacher, but the lectures can get a little boring. Read the book and you will get good grades. He gives exam reviews and marks a little hard on the assignments. The exams were not hard. I would recommend him and take his classes again. Just attend classes and read the book and you will prob get an A
Harris is clear, concise, fair, & hilarious! He makes the lectures interesting & the material easy to remember. If you participate in class and activities you'll barely need to do anything extra for the midterm/exam, you'll just remember it. He's very fair. You get the grade you work for. No freebies but also not an impossibly hard marker
Harris is a great prof, the course content was a little dry but he made the class much better and I would definitely take a class with him again!
Clutch prof. Definitely recommend this beauty. Show up to class, participate, don't be a dumb dumb, and you'll get a good grade. Miss a class and you can catch up easily, but you'll miss some solid jokes.
The course material is very very dry and Harris tries to make it relevant. All his course material is on Blackboard so you don't really have to go to class but its easier to retain the information if you do.
Harris is probably one of my favourite profs. I have taken 2 classes with him, in different disciplines, and they were structured the same. He posts slides before class, but with blanks - I recommend going to class, FOR SURE. He is a great guy, answers your questions, and he makes it SO EASY for you to pass his classes. Take his section if you can!
One of the best profs i've had for sure. Marks fairly and makes lectures interesting and fun. Take his class if you can! The final exam is tough but if you do the readings and put in effort throughout the semester you will be fine.
Lectures very bland, reads directly off of boring slides in a monotone voice.
Cool guy. The material is dry, but Harris does what he can to make it interesting. He is also a fair marker. Show up to class and you will do great.
Take OB or STRAT with Harris and you wont regret it. The dude is a legend at MRU. Lectures are decent and he marks fairly while providing good feedback. However, group projects can be a drag. Make sure that you end up with a solid group and you should be fine in both courses. Otherwise, if you have a poor group, except a long and brutal semester.
Good guy Harris. Will answer emails as soon as he can. Can be a tough marker, but it's fair and pushes you to do quality work. Textbook isn't mandatory, but it does help to read cause he will reference it in quizzes, midterm, and final. Even if you don't know the exact answer, if you can explain you're thinking, he'll still give marks.
You like dead-pan quirky? Harris is your guy. He knows his material, has no problem coming up with examples, and is very transparent when it comes to group assignment requirements. As a quieter guy, I could see why some people would think the lectures are boring if they're looking for something dynamic, but I found it to be the best way to learn.
Harris is an OG. Its hard 2find a prof who is very smart, funny, chill, & a great lecturer. I love seeing Harris in the hall with his back pack, he honestly looks like a middle aged student, hes such a chill guy. You'd never guess hes crazy smart& well spoken. Love this dude 100%. Gives good feedback too and it super approachable. Marks a lil hard
Harris is great, highly recommend. I found he was quite specific on what needs to be studied and known so if you pay attention, you'll get a great grade.
best prof ive ever had at MRU! The course material is super boring but Harris does a good job on making it enjoyable, he has an example for everything so you can visualize the content better. He has little funny jokes he makes along the way which are always great to keep things entertaining.
Harris has a nice dry sense of humour. His tests are straight out of the textbook, so if you don't read it, you are screwed. His group marking is tough; but not brutal. He does give you lots of opportunities to reach out and confer with him
Harris is a nice person but somethings could get in the way of doing well. He is not very responsive with emails. When he says you don't need the text, you actually do because he tests you on it. Be ready to lose grades without enough feedback to explain why. I would not take his class again. He is not flexible or willing to meet. He's handsome!
There is lots of clarity to help you do well, but there is no understanding of student situations or any easy marks. The course has nice topics related to psych. Be aware of tough multiple choice questions - so do your readings and dealing with case studies. Tough with deadlines and firm on grading. Cheerful, funny, good looking, organized person.
Very harsh grader. Very boring lectures with us having to read up on stuff to learn
If you're trying to make the best of a mandatory class, there's no one better to take it with then Harris. He makes boring lectures interesting and tries to inject dry humour into technical concepts to help memory retention. He can be tough but he isn't unfair and is always available to discuss concerns or feedback with students. One of the best!
Harris helps you do well by providing you with exactly what he is looking for. He provides lots of time and support for the project and creates exam review materials like the jeopardy game. He literally helps you by giving out some questions in class. He makes the class fun despite the dry content. I LOVE this prof and hands down he is the best!
Harris makes a lot of funny jokes in class but still grades fairly tough for the group project. Although a few MC questions (3ish) come from the textbook on the midterm I would not say it is enough to buy the textbook.
Absolute beauty of a prof. Great guy, gives great lectures and reasonable marker. Highly recommend taking his class
Really great guy that makes class interesting. I can only imagine the level of boring possible for this class, but Harris made me want to come to every lecture. Shares funny videos and references that help connect to the class material. Was the most capable prof to have during COVID-19 too, providing a professional level online lecture stream.
loved both his class and Harris as a professor. Attendance is 10% of our grade but missing a couple classes didnt affect my mark. Gives very detailed rubrics for projects so its easy to do well. I didnt buy the textbook but the midterm had 2-3 questions from the textbook so if you dont care about missing out on a couple marks then save urself the $
Harris is one of the nicest Profs I've ever met, also very hilarious. He gives detailed grading criteria and gives good examples during class that really helped me understand the topics. Highly recommend taking his class!
Harris is a super nice guy and he made the class really enjoyable. I wish it had been in person so I could have had more lecture time in class (we had one pre-recorded lecture per week and one synchronous live session). The course content was alright, not the most exciting stuff, but harris made it bearable and fun to learn about.
This is my first year at MRU online. Professor Rubin is a very respected teacher and made the course interesting with his funny commentary. As well as showed his compassion for understanding our situations. Also, made sure you understood the content and were able to apply it to real-world situations instead of just understanding the terms. :)
Harris is a really great prof. hes one of the only professors who genuinely cares about his students and their success. Hes also super super funny, so he makes online school someone more enjoyable. Would highly recommend!
Mr Rubin is a good professor however his class is very assignment heavy and it wasn't clear what he wanted to be included in the assignments. Lecture attendance and participation are mandatory as you get marked on it. He does care for his students and is very understanding and if you do the reading and finish all the assignments, you will pass.
Harris is an amazing prof! The content of this course was easy to grasp, and I attribute that to Harriss teaching style. Class is synchronous one day/week where we discussed a case relating to the chapter. Gotta participate. This helped a lot for the exams. Used the textbook for the assignments (2) and thats it. Id take a class w/ Harris again!
He is a good prof and provides nice and easy to understand recorded lectures. He is also a relatively easy grader as I have gotten decent grades in this class, even though I am a horrible writer. He does not record lectures and you have to participate as he grades participation. If you are extroverted, then this class is for you.
Harris has to be one of my favorite professor. He is an easy grader, especially essays, his lectures are a bit dry, but he tried his best to make it enjoyable by doing activities. This class is an easy A if you show up, review through the material before midterm & final. You will do well. I would recommend taking him!
Harris was a great prof. Exams were tough but fair and marking was very generous. Participation grade, so make sure you go to class. Classes were fun and extremely beneficial, he provided an online link for people who preferred to be online. Provided lots of support with group work issues. I would definitely recommend taking this course with Harris
Harris was so nice and gave good clear lectures with easy-to-read slides. He kept classes light-hearted and respected students. We had one main group project and it was pretty easy if you understand the course material.
Nice guy. Funny sometimes in class. Down to earth. Super helpful when asking questions for assignments/group projects. One of the best profs at MRU
very dry class, but if mandatory take professor rubin, makes the dry content bearable and is a funny dude.
Hands down one of the best professors at MRU. Super chill, is helpful for feedback and walks you through assignments. Take his class!!
Love this professor, such an interesting person who gives great lectures, grades things reasonably and is so nice. I would take this class again without hesitation. if you're taking organizational behaviour he is 100% the best option (friends in other classes). Loveeeee him
Harris really cares about his students, and really tries to make his lectures interesting and applicable to not only our day to day lives but also to other content we learn in psychology. We were tested on one paper, two midterms and a final exam, but they were very straightforward, open book, and easy A's if you study.
Harris is awesome a probably one of my favourite professors I have ever had at Mount Royal. The content required to be taught in this course is a little boring but if you need this class definitely take Harris. He makes the learning material more interesting and is also super funny. Wish I could have him again!
Very good teacher, class is not very hard but he made it enjoyable to attend.
Harris is an amazing prof, he cares about his students and wants them to genuinely do well. If you need help with stuff he is always making sure that we understand. His lectures were not boring and he actually engages with his students.
Awesome prof, reccomend for first years taking mgmt2130. Harris is a goated, best prof
Harris is the definition of a prof who just gets "it". Very laid back, respectful, understands student stress, gives great feedback and gives ample time for you to ask questions. Helps a TON with exams and essentially tells you what's on the exam, ive never felt so confident going to tests than with Rubin. Open book midterm/final too. Goated.
The class wasn't too difficult, pretty common sense concepts. He grades pretty fairly. He lets you have cheat sheets for the midterm and the final. The only thing is that he didn't give much feedback on assignments. Overall, it was a good class. I would for sure take another course with him.
Harris is an amazing prof, he made this course interesting, and he cares about his students.
Harris is an amazing professor who takes lots of time to make sure you're succeeding in his class. The class itself is a little on the dry side but he does a very very good job applying it to real life and making applicable scenarios. If you're taking this class you should definitely pick him to take it with.
Harris Rubin is a laid-back professor. His classes were engaging, meaningful and straightforward. There is not much course work, just two tests (Final and Midterm) and two assignments, one being a group project. The exams are not hard, but not easy either because of the requirement of being able to apply course content when analyzing case studies.
I had him for 2310 and now for 3276 and one thing is for sure… HARRIS IS THE GOAT!!!
Dudes chill and personable asf lol
Great prof , very helpful if you need it , If you show up to class and participate and ask questions where you need then you will do great.
This guy is the best! His lectures are passed well and he leaves time in his lectures for people to ask questions and he will always provide insights. He is the most personable professor I had while at MRU and it really feels like he cares about the students as people rather than a student I'd. If you have the chance to take a class with hum DO IT.
he is amazing! He is chill and an easy grader.
This guy is the GOAT. he explains things so well, prepares you for the exam so well, and overall just wants you to do well. his lectures are interesting and he cracks jokes all the time. Show up and you will do well. he is awesome. dont buy the textbook tho
He's super caring about his students and is probably the most chill professor I've had. Attendance and participation matter (10% of your final grade), so make sure you're in class whenever possible. Show up, and you'll do just fine in his class. He is a bit picky on the term paper, though, so make sure you start right when you get the documents.
The material wasn't the most exciting, but Harris tried to keep students engaged. He doesn't give ANY individual feedback on exams (even when asked), so there wasn't much room for improvement. Overall he was a good professor, would've loved some feedback for the amount of exams, though.
Harris is a great prof for this course. He explains concepts really well and prepares us for what is expected on the exams. An A would have been possible if the group projects had been marked more easily; nonetheless, he is a great professor.
Great professor. Very understanding, cares for students and makes boring content enjoyable. Open-book midterm and final. Participation is graded but he develops a respectful and welcoming environment.
