He talks a lot but the class is fairly easy just don't take 7 weeks course
Best English professor I have ever had.
He is a very nice man, cares about his students, and wants the best from you. The class isn't hard at all! Just take the assignments serious and you will pass. Seems as he grades on effort not being perfect. You will learn a lot from him, he is a very knowledgeable man.
Wonderful teacher! I loved this class because he gives great feedback and the work is super easy. Just make sure you do the discussion and come to class and you will be sure to pass
Professor Beasley is a great professor. He is very understanding and his work isnt hard but can be challenging. Public speaking was hard for me but professor Beasley made me overcome this fear.
Get ready to read. I took this as a 7 weeks course and by the time the course finished, the entire book was read. Homework is not too difficult, but you should take every effort to learn the material because you may be required to present a speech for each type that is discussed in the book (up to 3). If you skip class, you might miss a pop quiz.
Professor Beasley is an awesome professor. I enjoyed his teaching style or has he would put it, his "pedagogy." He is very passionate and knowledgeable of the subject and sincerely wants to help you succeed. You DO need to show up and complete your assignments (as you need to with any class). This will help you in the long run!
Gives feedback on your speeches and lets you know where you excelled and can improve. This class has 3 speeches although we were cut short in time for the semester and could only do two of them.
a very good teacher. show up and pass. very considerate and open-minded.
Was relaxed and understanding that it was an entry level course. He lets you pick the speech topics and is generally funny as well. I really enjoyed this class and wish I could take it again, as ours was cut short.
Gotta say, there are a lot of assignments but they're easy. Take notes but tbh you'll pass without them unless he tells you to do something.
He was a good professor and is understanding when it comes to real-life problems. Just make sure you put an effort into whatever you turn in or present and the class is easy.
By far this was the best class I have ever taking professor Beasley gives a clear and constructive feedback which enable his students to succeed in his class. He cares about his students success. There are four speeches to give just take the assignments serious and you will do fine. He helps his students in any way he could. Take his class.
very good teacher. the class is not difficult. He gives good feedback on speeches and assigns homework due at the end of each week.
Gives great feedback on all speeches given. Explains concepts in lectures thoroughly. Attendance and participation are for a grade. He taught a lot about how to overcome your speech anxiety, as well as many other forms of public speeches that you may actually need to do at some point outside of school.
Professor Beasley is a great teacher. He's funny and he is very understanding.
Great professor! Extremely understanding when it comes to being anxious a.k.a apprehensive, I myself have extreme communication apprehension and got a B on all of my speeches. You only have 3 speeches. Have your speeches prepared before the deadline and if you present early, you'll probably get extra credit, which otherwise isn't given out.
Very professional and inspirational. Not a tough grader. Grades off of attendance. His dry humor is the greatest part.
professor beasley is a great instructor, i never thought i would be able to take speech and pass but he made it so easy! he's great and made me so comfortable standing up there presenting
An excellent Professor! This was my first speech class and I really enjoy it. Thanks to him, I've been able to control my apprehension to speak in public and also to develop good speeches.
first speech class , made it a breeze and excited to speak on speech days
Prof Beasley is one of the best professors I've ever taken. There are lots of small easy assignments, keep up with those and you won't have a problem getting a good grade. Don't worry about being nervous during your speech, he grades on academic performance, not if you were nervous or not. He works hard to help relieve you of apprehension too.
You will enjoy this class if you like to have fun and learn at the same time.
He is a helpful professor. clear and descriptive in his directions. I recommend him. I won't take him mainly becase I like to change my professors every semester and I don't do as good if I repeat one professor but if that't not your things then I would recommend him to you more than once. lol.
He was really great and made a connection to everyone in the class. Made it easy to get extra credit and grade recovery.
Great teacher! loved his class and I would definitely take it again.
Great teacher. Would take again if I could. Cares about helping students for when a career presents itself.
He's really good. Gives you time to turn in your work and easy to talk too.
Great teacher. Really makes you feel comfortable with public speaking.
Professor Beasley is one of the best Professors I had at FSCJ. He's down to earth, very reasonable, and always gives feedback and is open to hearing anything a student has to say.
Great teacher
Professor Beasley is one of those teachers that is very memorable. Very helpful and understanding when it comes to assignments, attendance, and feedback. I was nervous about taking the class at first but he made sure to make the classroom like a safe place to talk out loud and share your own views and opinions. Definitely recommend this class.
Professor Beasley was great! He always showed up to class with a great attitude and was always willing to work with you in order for you to pass.
When it is time for speeches be prepare to submit online assignments and discussions. Great professor give his best to explain the concepts and techniques on giving types of speeches.
he's great
Great teacher if you are ready to work hard. Very understanding which is really appreciated since some professors won't always listen to what you had to say.
The class was a lot of fun. The hardest part was just staying on top of due dates for assignments.
Professor Beasley is a great teacher, always ready to start the class and get to work. As long as you follow the rubric for the assignments you will have no problem in this class.
Professor Beasley is great! The textbook work is tedious but being in his class makes it worth it(:
Great Professor! Very nice and understanding, communicates very well. Easy A, just go to class and do your speeches.
Great teacher. Very understanding.
Very thoughtful and listens to what you have to say. The speeches require a lot of research so be prepared and ready in advance. I highly recommend his class if you need the credit!
Going to class would really help with your grade. He grades assignments not to harshly. Makes a lot of jokes but does his best to make you feel comfortable in the class.
Speeches do require a lot of work and research. Go to class and you'll get a good grade.
Professor Beasley is great! Make sure to keep up the reading, he does random pop quizzes every now and again. He provides clear information on what is expected and is also very lenient with grading. Enjoyed taking my speech class with him!
I have avoided taking my speech class! On my way to Prof. Beasley's class day 1, I almost dropped the class out of fear. I am SO THANKFUL I did not. He is my favorite teacher I have ever had. Thanks to this class and specifically Prof. Beasley, I agreed to my fiancé that I would write my own vows :) I 100% suggest everyone take a class with him.
Professor Beasley is a great professor! There's a lot of online work, but as long as you try your best, you will do great in this class.
Overall Good Guy! All he wants is for his students to feel more comfortable in a speaking environment and will help to get you there. Show him that you care and he will be more than willing to help.
The speeches are based on your own topic which is nice. He is very caring and encouraging. Online homework is very simple and you just have to buy a small notebook with the assignments in it. I thought I was going to do bad because I am scared of public speaking, but the class was small and teacher made you feel anything, but pressured. take him!
A lot of reading and writing in discussion posts/written responses due every week, but work itsself is not difficult. Attendance is part of the grade and bellringers and popquizzes are sometimes given and cannot be made up. A lot of fun and makes class very interesting. If you have a legitimate excuse, he will work with you to extend deadlines.
A wonderful teacher who cares about his students. This class requires work, but it is all very easy and he explains everything thoroughly. He makes sure is available outside of class to answer any questions and always responds in a good amount of time. He is one of the nicest professors I have ever had, I would have him as my professor again.
show up to the class and give an effort. Very supportive when it comes to speaking apprehension.
Excellent Class! Public speaking can be challenging, but Professor Beasley made it so that we could get over our apprehension and deliver meaningful speeches. I feel that he did an excellent job combining the course material along with a human approach. I highly recommend Professor Beasley.
Fantastic Class and Professor. He is extremely engaging and wants to see you do well. He incorporates humor and really makes the class enjoyable. Easily the best professor I have taken so far at FSCJ. I would, without a doubt, recommend Professor Beasley. Do the work, try your best, and if needed ask for help. He is more than willing to help.
HES FINE
Professor Beasley definitely helped students overcome their fear of public speaking. I took him on Monday nights which was already tough because it was a SUPER long day but he managed to make class enjoyable and he was able to make everything have some relevance in our lives. I definitely recommend this professor.
There are four presentations that you have to give, one of which is a group presentation. I overall had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, there is a lot of written homework with one discussion and one assignment due each week. The discussion and assignments are multiple paragraphs long, because each question requires a 5-8 sentence response.
If you want to learn how to speak in public, this is the class you should take. Mr. Beasley is friendly, and his feedback will help you improve your public speaking skills.
Professor Beasley is very knowledgeable. His class is fun and you learn a lot about everything. I took the class during Summer term and it was intense in terms of homework. If you do you work and participate in the class, you will be just fine. Be ready to learn.
He was a great professor, really interested in the topics. The class was kinda boring, but that was expected I mean it was a three hour summer class at night.. other than that it was perfect, only didn't get an A because I was lazy and didn't submit things on time but if you do that then you should get an A easy.
Prof. Beasley is a great instructor. His expectations are clear and not too overwhelming. You will have online discussions/assignments nearly every week and four oral speeches. He is not a harsh grader, as long as you apply yourself and do not slack off.
Has great conversation and is very personable.
Easy to talk to and does his best to make everyone feel comfortable. Very lenient towards presentation grading, but little more tough towards assignments. Wouldve received a high grade had I done better on the pop quizzes.
Very fair. I wouldn't say an easy A but I would say that if you participate it should be an easy B at least.
Professor Beasley is one of the best professors that FSCJ has to offer. I had been dreading taking a speech class for some time, but Professor Beasley made this class so accepting regardless of if you were comfortable speaking in front of strangers or not. I was honestly sad that the class had to end.
As long as you do the work assigned, this class is a breeze. Prof Beasley makes it clear what is expected and is very personable. I would take him again if given the opportunity.
Great class, my public speaking definitely improved.
Professor Beasley is a good instructor. He will stop his lecture to address question. I've had professors that would not.
Professor Beasley made learning how to publicly speak very comfortable. In the first half of the semester, it may seem like a lot of homework (online). The homework is not difficult, but time consuming. After the second half of the semester, there is pretty much no homework He gives feedback after each speech. Public speaking became easier for me.
Professor Beasley is an absolutely amazing professor. Theres not enough room to type how great he is. Most people dont want to take public speaking but professor Beasley really takes alot of the stress and anxiety out of it. I watched every single student improve dramatically and by the end, I was thoroughly impressed with myself and my peers.
This class is very easy, if you need a speech credit please take this class. Professor B is very cool and not uptight. He does talk a lot but gives good feedback. I like that he gives us access to his phone number so if something went wrong with an assignment you can text him and he will respond. Just do the work and enjoy the speeches.
Professor Beasley is a great professor. I thought that public speaking would stress me out, but he actually made it enjoyable. He also made the class simple and easy to understand. I feel like I got a lot out of that class, it really improved my public speaking skills.
Professor Beasely is very clear and precise about everything that is needed for the speeches and does very well with keeping the class interesting
I came in to this class a little apprehensive, Professor Beasley really opened my mind and showed me the ropes on how to speak publicly with out the feeling of anxiety. If he ever teaches a class I need, I will gladly enroll! Im sad this class is over! Thank you Professor Beasley!
Professor Beasley is an amazing teacher. he's really funny. I would recommend taking his class. he's pretty laid back, which I like. there are a lot of discussions but if you read the material then you will be fine. he gives great feedback. I began the class being really nervous because I don't like speaking in from of people but he made it easy.
Really a gem and helped me a lot with public speaking and gaining that confidence and really helped me out for my future and I thank him for every bit of it.
Dr. Beasley was great at communicating with the class in a way that made the work interesting and simple. I'm definitely going to recommend this professor to my friend who still have to take this course. He also took the time to teach the class tips on how to behave during an interview with nonverbal communication.
Very good professor I would recommend anybody to take him.
Professor Beasley was polite and gave good feedback. The only drawback was not necessarily the professors fault, but the assignments were not clear on Canvas and caused a lot of confusion. Do your work to the best of your abilities and you will be successful.
Professor Beasley was really considerate and encouraging when we were giving speeches. His goal was not to grade us based on perfection, but rather to get us to enjoy public speaking or at least know how to speak in our future careers. The only problem I had was with some late uploads on canvas and a few due date confusions.
Professor Beasley was a good teacher! He could be funny at times and most of the homework was dished out the first month but was very hard. We did 3 speeches and were taught how to prepare and after a student gave a speech we would talk about it and he would highlight the good things and the bad things we did.
Gave good feedback, improved my public speaking.
He will try to crack a joke in calls and call one people to get everyone involved in the conversation. Which is nice. However, he assigns a lot of homework. If you do all the work it is a simple A. All the work can get very stressful or even overwhelming at times. Due to the fact this isn't my only class. But I did enjoy the class for sure.
I was very nervous about this class but Professor Beasley created a positive learning environment that helped with my fear and anxiety about public speaking. The speeches were fun and not difficult at all. There was a lot of homework for the first 2 months but if you put in the effort it's an easy A. I had a lovely experience in this class.
I had a great time in this class this past semester. I learned alot about public speaking and definitely improved and advanced my public speaking ability. Definitely would recommend the professor.
He is a great professor. I had him for my honors speech course, and he was very understanding. If you have a concern on an assignment, just talk to him. He is very understanding and will work with you. I highly recommend him as a professor, but if you are not willing to put in the work this is not the course for you.
In the beginning, the workload was heavy. I was anxious to take this class but after a semester in his class I can say that I still am anxious when it comes to public speaking but I do feel more comfortable having knowledge and use of materials when it comes to a speech. Overall he was a wonderful and super nice professor and would recommend .
I would recommend ayone to take this class. I had Professor Beasley for my honors speech course, and he did a fantastic job teaching how to control apprenhesion during public speaking. He gives a lot of homework but they are not difficult, only time consuming. He let us choose our own topic for our speech and gives a good feedback after we present.
Professor Beasly is a great professor. He's very welcoming and caring to his students. He wants you to succeed not only in his class but also outside. He is always ready to help you. We have to do weekly discussions by reading the required chapters and four speeches. He made his students comfortable learning and speaking. He's very understanding.
Going into a public speaking class I thought it was going to be difficult and terrifying but I ended up really loving it. He doesn't make you feel pressured and will help you in any way just ask or stay after class. He's hilarious, makes you feel very comfortable, and enjoy to come to class. Work early on but its to help you. Take this professor.
Professor Beasley is incredibly passionate about teaching and it shows. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the topic of the class but he is also the most charismatic person I've ever met. He does a great job of making everyone feel comfortable which is important, especially in a public speaking class.
Professor Beasley made this class (intro to public speaking, honors) a good one. He was very understanding and really cared about our success. His teaching style is more active, and you learn more by doing than reading/studying. There is a lot of work that sometimes piled up, but he was appropriately flexible when the situation called for it.
In the beginning of the course Professor Beasley lectured using PowerPoint, and then started to assign us homework. The textbook was online and we had a few assignments each week to do, one being post in a discussion board and reply to two of your classmates' posts. We did 4 speeches in the class, and each time he gave a new template to follow.
One of the best teachers I have had, he makes assignments clear and easy, the class room is a very comfortable space, and he makes giving speeches fun.
Even though I didnt do many of the assignments he still graded my speeches fairly. Hes a man of his word and will help you out when needed. I might not have passed his class but Im glad I took it. It will grow you in your ability to produce great speeches.
Lots of homework and stuff. Overall grateful for the experience because it helped me step out of my comfort zone even more when presenting speeches etc.
Not hard at all. Do your work and you'll do well. For a speech homework there is too much homework in my opinion but overall he is very accommodating and understanding and works with you to address issues. Great guy, nice class. Annoying homework though.
Although He gave me a lot of Homework, He was still understanding if I didn't get it in on time. If you explain to him your situation, he is more than willing to help you. He's even kind to Christians which is rare in this school.
He was a great professor. Hes very easy to reach outside of class and you will always know whats going on in class. His expectations are clear. He grades discussion boards and written assignments a little harsh so follow the syllabus. Hes way more lenient with speeches and its easy to get a 100. Its not an easy A but its very doable.
I took this class because my anxiety is horrible and public speaking was my biggest fear. He is very friendly easy going. The only reason i wouldn't take him again is because he makes you read an online textbook so much and it has no point. IF YOU AREN'T GOOD AT PUBLIC SPEAKING, TAKE THIS CLASS. He makes the environment so friendly. No judgement
Professor Beasley is AMAZING - I've put off taking this speech class for years and am so glad that I finally decided to take it with him. Excellent feedback and always available for any issues/concerns/questions you may have - really wants his students to succeed. Take his class - you'll learn a lot!
great professor, easy class, respond to questions very fast. fair and clear grading. we did 2 long speeches and 4 short ones and 2 outlines. could be a lot of work but it is worth it. and an A when we put the effort.
Such a great professor. Really gives encouraging and positive feedback. I think he must be the nicest human at FSCJ. If you have the opportunity to take him for Speech, definitely take him! His qualifications, outside of being a professor, are impressive - and that makes him a wonderful teacher!
My favorite thing about him is how understanding he is when I fall behind due to circumstances beyond my control.
He is a great professor and is very passionate about speech but the homework is very heavy!! One assignment would take me 4-5 pages to complete. The more detail you give in your assignments the better your grade will be. He will call on you in class and likes participation.
if you stay on top of your assignments and follow the criteria for grading speeches you will do great!
Such an amazing Professor ! Maybe one of the nicest ones Ive ever had too ! If you dont do an assignment right, he lets you redo it for no points off if you redo it right away ! Always responds right away... the longest I waited was maybe an hour ...
Professor Beasley is very passionate about his class. He is a fair and understanding professor. Be prepared to participate in the discussions and lectures.
Being an introvert was a little difficult. However, Professor Beasley made his class fun. I learned a lot even. Professor Beasley was interactive in the online class and available to answer any questions I had. I feel Professor Beasley truly enjoyed teaching and it shows. Awesome class.
Professor B is a GREAT instructor. Hes very understanding and provides exceptional feedback. He allows you the opportunity to resubmit assignments for better grades. Homework can be LONG as he is very specific with his instructions but overall its mean to help you learn the material and apply it outside of his class rather just for a grade.
Professor Beasley gives you a lot of freedom to choose topics you're interested in and/or knowledgeable of for your speeches. His grading criteria is clear, and he provides great feedback and allows you to fix mistakes in order to receive a higher grade. He's caring and sincerely wants you to succeed in his class.
I really enjoyed my class with Professor Beasley, he made the speeches fun and he was very clear in what he expected from us. Class was originally supposed to be on campus but because of Covid-19 had switched to an online platform with video conference. I would 100% take Professor Beasley again and I hope I get the opportunity.
Lack of attendance will hurt your grade. The speeches arent difficult, but if you take the class online be sure to stand while youre recording them.
Took this class during covid19 times, so it was all online. Speeches were not difficult, but you need to follow his exact outlines or pts off. Homework is tedious and you must explain and discuss EVERYTHING or pts off. He blamed students for technical difficulties, and said the same things over and over when asked questions. not a good prof online.
I am a first year college student and i was very skeptical when it came to picking professors. I can say that i made a great choice here and a lot of my anxiety was put at ease.
He's great a giving good feed back and communication in class
He is very respectful with situations at home and he is a very understanding. His curriculum is clear and he gives good lectures that arent boring which I think is the most important part.
Great professor who encourages class discussion. It is important to participate to get a participation grade. There is a lot of work which he sometimes is not clear about how it will be graded.
He is very passionate about public speaking, is non-biased, and he wants you to succeed and will do everything he can to help you succeed. I really enjoyed this class and would suggest it to anyone looking to pass a public speaking course.
If I had to take a public speaking class, I would pick this prof again. He wasn't my favorite professor ever but the A is obtainable if you work for it. You HAVE to participate in lectures, he will call you on to respond. Gives extra credit at the end of course to rate him on here.
Prof. Beasley wasn't horrible, but he wasn't my favorite professor ever. He will call you out to answer questions during class, and requires participation for a grade. He has a 50+ page syllabus with guidelines for the class, and online free textbook for written assignments. Gave extra credit at end of course to leave rate my professor review.
Professor Beasley is an amazing professor. He really loves participation, so dont be scared to add on to the class. Hes very easy going. There is lots of homework on the first half of the semester, so have your priorities straight and dont slack off. If youre having any issues, just contact him and be transparent. He responds within an hour.
This class was hands-down the best class I have taken. I have been doing FSCJ courses for relatively two years now and he makes learning so easy. Not only is the work clear to have done, but he is more focused on you trying rather than perfection. Showing up to class is pretty mandatory. I had him online and everyday there was an attendance grade.
Good professor. A lot of reading and homework, but it is easy work. Do the work, you will pass with an easy A.
Partcipation in this class is a must. If you are taking this class online, don't expect to log in to the Conference and chill. He will randomly call on you, so you have to be active. There is a lot of reading in the first semester. It is tedious, less details-less pts. He gives you good grades on the speeches just follow the outline and practice.
Professor Beasley is a very great professor. I've truly learned a whole lot in his class. I've learned how to stand-up and do my best at Public Speaking and always make preparations before you do your speech and just Practice, Practice, and Practice. I pray that as I do my Stand-up Comedy in the Future, I can stand tall and upright when I speak.
This course should not be hard but I did take it online because of Covid. He is understanding and gave us outline templates and clear instructions for every assignment. Lectures feel a little boring sometimes but overall if you have to take a speech class, this is a good one.
just join the lectures and pay attention this class can be an easy A.
He is super nice! Your grade consists of long response questions from the textbook (easy but time consuming), attendance & speeches (he provides outlines). The class is pretty easy, if you attend the lectures and do the work on time, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A.
Professor Harry Beasley is just that a real gem, his excitement about the subject is catagious, he respects his students and gives great feedback so you know why you got the grade you got. It's not a hard class as long as you keep up. I have autism and speaking is difficult for me, but i felt comfortable speaking in this class. Participate!
great professor very helpful when dealing with technological issues
Professor Beasley is a great professor to learn from especially when it comes to speech. He was a great help to me and was very understanding when I wasn't able to turn in an assignment in on time and gives up to a week to turn in work late. If you are unsure of what professor to take for a beginners speech, he's the way to go!
Professor Beasley is an amazing teacher. He really cares about the students and tries to make the class as easy as possible.
Prof Beasley is a very involved, clear and caring professor. He takes the time to really clarify and try and deep dive into the various subjects throughout the course and really challenges you to think more outside of the box. His course will challenge you in a good way to improve you for your future endeavers.
There are quite a few assignments in this class, normally one assignment due each week but they are easy if you are putting effort into the class. Good lectures and always ask if there are any questions for the class
This class was amazing!! I took his class online and loved it. The written works are very important but very easy to do. His lectures were very informative but also interactive enough to keep the online learning environment fun and interactive. Definitely recommend this class to someone who likes speeches and a great professor.
Professor Beasley is a great professor, he explains and give multiple examples so that the students can grasp the lectures better. He also gives you excellent critics to better your outlines and speeches. I would take his classes again in the future.
He is good professor but you just have to do the work if you want the grade. You do like 4-5 speeches in the class but you have to submit outlines for like 3 of your speeches. These speeches are recorded by yourself at home so it isn't too hard but honestly it is really detailed outlines that take time to do.
Professor Beasley cared about his students like no other teacher. He listens to you and will help you with your grade. Explains assignments thoroughly and gives good feedback.
Professor Beasley's class was very homework heavy, however he opens up all the homework from the beginning of the semester, just turn it in on time. Homework relies on the assigned reading & as long as you are detailed on your response, you'll receive full credit. He's great with lecture and attendance was graded. Participation is key!
I enjoyed professor Beasley's class. Be prepared to attend class! He is very helpful and easy to reach if you need assistance. Awesome guy!
Wonderful teacher, and very caring. As an introverted individual who has difficulties with public speaking, he did a very good job to give us clear goals and outlines for what needs to be presented - along with reasons why. He is a master in his field and will work with you to ensure your success. Highly recommended.
Professor Beasley is an amazing teacher. There are not many assignments but in order to get a good grade, you have to be detailed and read the online textbook (which is free!). I took his class online so lectures were important. Not to mention, his response time to your emails is extremely fast compared to other teachers.
Great class lectures and very open to participation.
Very fun lectures and encourages participation.
Best prof. He makes everyone feel comfortable in the class, especially for someone who may come off as an introvert. He is clearly passionate about teaching and offers great advice. I have learned so much interesting items in his class that i will continue to use forever. He teaches how to deal with apprehension head on! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
The professor really wants everyone to succeed. He is very fair and tactful with his delivery. I would suggest his class to anyone who needs a speech credit.
Professor Beasley is a wonderful professor, he gives good feedback if you need help on assignments and is accessible.
Professor Beasley was one of the best professors I have ever had, not just in college but in all of my years of education. He is very open to questions, understanding to the outside life situations, and is an all around great teacher! While participation and attendance are mandatory, he makes class fun to where its not a big deal!
I was quite nervous about taking a Speech course, but I honestly wish I had taken SPC2017 during my first semester. I have gained so much confidence thanks to this course. The homework is quite easy and it's very straightforward. If you put in the effort, it's an easy A. No tests. No quizzes. 3 speeches total.
Always great at giving feedback. Made creating a speech very easy by providing outlines that were helpful in guiding me towards what I should include. I definitely feel confident about any future speeches. I would take this class again.
Class was clear cut. One of my easier classes. Professor was very good at his job .
10/10 would recommend professor Beasley for any SPC classes. He was very detail oriented, very knowledgeable and a bit of a jokester. If you pay attention to his lectures you are sure to follow suit with an A. He is also very good at explaining things if you do not understand them the first time. all and all great class!!
Great choice.
Harry Britt Beasley is a great professor, I recommend you all to take this class if you have not because he is a great teacher and he is very good at explaining. he is patient and hilarious. he is really good at his job.
Professor Beasley is a great professor and I would love to take his class again. Not only does he listen but he has no problems answering any questions you may have pertaining to the class.
Professor Beasley is the best professor I could ever have. He taught me a lot in regards to public speaking. With the help of his lectures, videos and other educational props to help us learn, all of these things have helped me become even more confident as a public speaker.
Always great at giving feedback. Made creating a speech very easy by providing outlines that were helpful in guiding me towards what I should include. I definitely feel confident about any future speeches. I would take this class again. Also provided a free online textbook.
Very caring and understanding teacher. He wants you to succeed and gives phenomenal feedback to help you improve. There isnt too much work and its a great class to take if you have troubles speaking in front of people
I loved his class so much! As someone who absolutely dreaded the concept of public speaking, he helped make the class bearable. Written assignments weren't that difficult to complete since he was clear about what he wanted answered. He's really patient and it feels like he actually wants his students to succeed.
Professor Beasley was great! He really cares about helping you to be more comfortable with public speaking. Entertaining lectures, clear requirements, and willing to work with you if life happens, just ask! I fell behind due to some personal issues and spoke with him about wanting to improve my grade and he gave me extra credit to help out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class! I am not a fan of public speaking because I get really nervous, but Professor Beasley is patient and encouraging. As long as you put in the work and participate, you will do well!
Professor Beasley was the best! His assignments do take time and you have to give details and descriptions. I was nervous about public speech but he helped and gave the class lots of confidence! I would definitely take him again. Very funny in class! Attendance is graded each class! 3 speeches and about 6 assignments. Loved it!
Professor Beasley was great! Loved his class and the speeches we all did. Would definitely recommend him to others!
Great professor! He likes participation and respects your input while giving great feedback, very genuine and caring about the class as a whole and each individual student. A lot of reading and homework but no tests, I enjoyed the class and would take it again!
This Professor was great! He gave me some time to think about an answer for a question in case if the question is more complex. He was also very confident and gave us the opportunity to take extra time. He additionally did an awesome job presenting what to avoid when public speaking and/or otherwise entertaining.
I highly recommend taking Professor Beasley's class. He is extremely helpful and understanding. His feedback is very helpful and his class is easy to pass if you pay attention and participate.
I enjoyed his class!! Lectures were not bad, do your work and you'll pass. The homework assigned was not hard but make sure to answer every question completely. It sometimes took me 3-4 pages to answer everything as it was supposed to, but then again you can find the answer to everything on the textbook, which we used for only the homeworks.
He is a Good professor
Mr. Beasley made me more comfortable giving speechs in front of people. I didnt realize the importance of how you say things and controlling my facial expression is until he educated and help me. He is very passionate and caring.
Professor Beasley clearly cares about the subject matter and how the skills you learn in this class will help you in the future.
Hes very nice and chill. Just make sure you practice your speeches before hand.
Took a fast-paced 7 week class. Pretty accomodating professor who is available outside of class. Fun person, and there to help you pass. Never gives mean feedback and has a positive vibe. Lots of dad jokes. Always ok to ask questions, very straightforward organization. Good A when you follow his instructions, submit in time, and come prepared.
He Solid 10/10 He is a Very Good Teacher And Laidback No Negative Vibes Only Good Vibes He Teaches respectfully and professionally.
Great professor. Very understanding.
Great teacher !!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!
Great professor. Do the work, try your best.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Professor Beasley is a very passionate instructor and very detailed. He takes the time to answer questions and is pretty accessible after class hours. I definitely learned a lot that I will be able to apply both in my career and personally. The homework is pretty heavy, so procrastination is not your friend.
Just expect each homework assignment to take you at least two hours.
He gives you enough time to practice your speech/presentation.
Excellent Public Speaking professor!! You can tell he cares about his students success and passionate about his job! I would definitely take another class with Professor Beasley again!
I really enjoyed this class! Professor Beasleys creates a teaching environment that is fun to be in. Its almost like an educational conversation. He sets the platform, and we dig in. I learned so much about public speaking and I will use this information for the rest of my life. He has been my favorite professor ever!
Professor Beasley was phenomenal. he helped me break out of my shell and learn how to really be successful in public speaking.
Good professor but get ready to be loaded down with work. Assignments can take a long time to complete and multiple are due in a week.
Professor Beasley was very straight forward in his assignments and grading rubric. If you listen and put in the work you should have no problem getting an A.
Loved him! He really cares!
If you don't mind going off on 10 minute, repeated tangents over and over, take him for Public Speaking. You will pass, check a box, and be done with it. I learned nothing, but it's a required class, so whatever.
Professor Beasley is a fantastic, caring, and thoughtful educator. His assignment may appear difficult in the first few weeks, but after that, you need to use a little more effort to achieve fulfillment. I would highly suggest other students to take this class because you will gain not only knowledge through his lecture but also experiences.
Make sure you take his advice in terms of the speeches. His class definitely isn't hard but if you're not used to giving speeches, presentations, or talking in front of people it may be a little nerve wrecking for you. He makes you feel comfortable, my class was very supportive. If you're thinking about taking this class, just get it over with.
Allot of speaking required
I was EXTREMELY nervous to take a public speaking course & made that extremely clear with Professor from the beginning of class, he assured me that we would make it through and we did, with an A! He's so sweet, he gives great feedback, he only wants you to do well & sets you up for success when it comes to giving your speeches. HIGHLY recommend!!!
On of the best Professors I have taken by far.
He really cares about what he is teaching, but be prepared to really cram in some homework. Lot's of reading and essays.
Professor Beasley actively encourages his students to be involved and give their all, even if you think you're not a good speaker. This was a hybrid class, so there were often technological hiccups, but Professor Beasley always gave us 110% to make sure we were comfortable and confident. The most important part is putting effort into your speeches!
Overall an excellent teacher, and he really encourages his students. But be prepared to put in effort for any speeches, as no option to read from a paper is given, and it mostly relies on notecard use.
I enjoyed this class!
Thoroughly enjoyed being about to take this course in person. I would not have gotten as much out of it without the classroom environment he created.
Enjoyed having this class in person. I got a lot out of the classroom discussion, due to the environment he creates.
I received the grade I got due to my lack of preparation for the class. But if you do the work and prepare for all of the speeches, this class is a breeze and enjoyable. Prof Beasley gives great feedback on your speeches and is not a tough grader. Would recommend if you have apprehension about public speaking.
Professor Beasley is passionate about the way he teaches and very informative on the topics. He gets everyone in the class actively involved during class. I went into this class thinking it was going to be hard because I was not comfortable with giving speeches. He helped with my apprehension to become a better speaker. He is very knowledgeable.
This professor was really nice and made the class fun. There is a normal amount of work load and attendance is mandatory. I would take him again.
Mr. Beasley is a great professor! Just finished up his fall speech class, thankfully it was a smaller group. With his outlines and in-class help, you can easily succeed and build great confidence. Due to personal complications this semester, I didn't do as well as I would have liked but if you do your work there's no reason for you not to get an A.
Professor Beasley really helped me see public speaking differently. It's easy to pass as long as you try and find something you enjoy speaking about. I was always so nervous but tried to hide my social anxiety behind a smile. The class was small, but oh so supportive and kind, we always had some amazing laughs. Highly recommend!
I wholeheartedly recommend Professor Beasley to any student seeking a speech class! I've dodged this class for years but when it finally came time to take it Professor Beasley made the whole experience 10x more positive with his reassuring and humorous attitude when it came to public speaking apprehension. The textbook is provided as well. :)
So, if I had an option to retake this class with this professor again, I would. There were about 5-50 point assignments and about 2-3 speeches that made up a lot of the grade. Thinking back I couldve done better, especially since he gives us all the materials you need to get a good grade. Show up, listen in class, follow the rubric and youre set.
Professor Beasley is a great professor. He gives back feedback on work which I liked. Attendance is mandatory and Important. He Makes great jokes and very informative. Syllabus laid out great. I Took him for a 7week course, 3 speeches you have to present in class. I don't regret it, Great professor would recommend and take again.
Mr. Beasley is a real gem. I am so glad I took this class; I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. As long as you do you reading assignments and research you will be fine. It should be a super easy A for you. Plan to participate in class, be on time, try not to miss a class. those 15 points for participation really help your grade point average
Might catch him by surprise but I loved his class (hint hint would avoid public speaking at all cost) he is very sweet, makes public speaking more of a learning experience than a speak or fail I am a creditable speaker for this (pun, sorry that joke was lame) but overall really helpful and nice !
He is an amazing professor, he is passionate and loves participation to get to know his students on a deeper level. Also, he definitely helps with gaining confidence with public speaking and breaking you out of your shell.

Professor Beasley's curriculum and instruction in class were very clear and easy to follow. Class attendance and participation are very important to obtain information for both written and verbal assignments. He gives phenomenal feedback after presenting speeches. Honestly, if you attempt and turn in work on time, you can pass with a B or higher.

Professor Beasley is by far one of the best instructors that i've come across. He really makes sure you are comfortable speaking in front of others and makes the class interesting.
Professor Beasley was amazing. Engaged with the student making sure they reach their desired potential. Great with feed back and what he wanted from his students. Great conversation in class! Overall the class was informative and learned mechanics to public speaking. Will take any of his classes again!
The outline was messy. Participate and make sure you get all dates for the assignments. He's kind in his criticism and grading at first, but will get more strict as the class continues. All lectures count towards grade, 3 speeches and 12 chapters & writing assignment. He grades slow but contacts back fast.
Professor Beasley has a clear grading scale. Accepted late work with points off up until a certain date. Our speeches were graded with accuracy. Professor Beasley is down to earth and opens the floor to real world conversation within the class relating to the topic. Recommend everyone takes this class!
Professor Beasley is a very knowledgeable professor, and is very willing to help add in any assignment or speeches given for the class. He is very respectable and his discussions are engaging. He offers many different point of views for speeches and can give advice to improve your speeches.

Truly makes public speaking something to not fear. He loves seeing your growth from your first speech to your last. He not only helped me gain confidence but he also helped my class as a whole. The best teacher!
Tough grader. Make sure you submit every assignment because they will help your grade if you are not getting high grades on your speeches. You have to read the book to do the assignments and get high grades on them. He wants to see that you have read and understood the readings he has assigned. 3 speeches. Attendendence is mandatory. Good professor
Incredible professor. Extremely fair grading; challenges you as a student to tap into your true potential and builds your confidence over the course. Lecture-heavy but is never uninteresting, monotonous or boring. Kind, funny, approachable and fair. If you're hesitant about speech class or speaking in front of people, Prof. Beasley is the one.
This class is a great class to take as the professor does care about his students and their grades. Participation makes the class go by faster and a lot more fun to learn. I've learned more techniques on Public Speaking.

You will get better and will learn some great long-lasting skills in his class. If you need this class, take his for sure!
Professor Beasley is a really good Professor. He allows late work although to keep it fair he doesn't give as much points as those who turn it in on time. He is pretty fair and is clear about what he expects from you. Has homework that has a lot of parts but it is manageable. Just do the reading and work and you'll be fine.
I was nervous about taking a 7 week speech class, but Professor Beasley was awesome. You do get 9 points for coming to class, which was twice a week. Make sure you are there the day of the speeches or you will lose points. The textbook is reading and writing homework involved, but it's not hard.
That he is respectable and kind.also understanding if faced with a problem with the given assignment
He also expects you too not be afraid to speak when the opportunity presents itself. An to be certain you read his syllabus carfully
Great teacher just do all the work

If you have a choice take the longer class to give yourself time to prepare your speech. Take the class in person if possible there is so much value to be had in this class that you will not get from online.
I recommend taking Professor Beasley if you are nervous about public speaking. This class was daunting for an introvert like myself to take but he made our class feel comfortable and confident as we progressed.
One of the best teachers at fscj.Just do your work on time and should get a good grade.
Professor Beasley is a pretty great teacher, as someone who had taken off from school for a short break (due to life changes), he was a good reintroduction to college! He makes sure to be clear in his instructions and directions and is fair in his assessments on speech days, putting emphasis on building confidence and our skills as public speakers.
He was an amazing professor. He was so encouraging for every person and understands the complicity of public speaking and understands the anxiety that comes with it.

Follow his tips for speeches and overall he will help you and give constructive criticism after speaking. Overall he helps you become a more confident and better speaker.

Grades each student individually based on their own progress in their speeches. Grades are weighted heavily so make sure to be diligent in your homework, and be prepared for your speeches.

Don't judge a book by it cover is my first thought. The first day of class I thought he was going to be tough and I wouldn't do well. Wrong... Professor Beasley gives great feedback and questions are welcome. He made it very clear what was expected and advised on resources to getting it done. We had 3 speeches and 5-6 writing assignments.
