Gill's not that bad. If you fall behind in class early on you'll be totally lost later, but it's a hard subject. If you have questions he'll show you where in the book the question is answered, and if you know the material well the tests aren't that hard
The worst professor i have had in my life. He is extremely boring. He is unhelpful, and in class the only thing he does is read from the book. He gives no homework but the tests are very hard. Do not take him!!!!
His teaching is slow but if you listen carefully,he gives the hints to what tricks there are in the tests.His test is short and mcq but it is not an easy one.You got to know the stuff inside out.He is an advisable teacher with a good sense of humor.
This is a very easy class. The teacher has a good sense of humor, and the book (self-written) that he uses is like econ for dummies , very easy to understand. There's no homework, but once you realize how easy the math is you'll be set on tests.

Gill is one of the most most easy going teachers on campus if u do not want to stay in class he will let u go to the beach.

Gill is a good teacher. if you want an A in the class, you will get one, and there isn't too much work. His book is self-written, which makes the class even easier because if you miss class you can just read the book.

Mr. Gill is HILLARIOUS! I like his class, and this is the first time I actually enjoy a 3 hr class. I don't know why there r so many negative comments, people are just WIERD. He helps me learn, I don't know about others, but i like the class!
If you have ever taken a econ class before, and if you went to highschool you should have, this is the teacher for you. You only really have to show up for test and the test are not hard.

Oh man I love this guy. Treats you like an adult with his if you care come to class, if you don't then I don't. Study the assigned "book" which is more like a lecture outline. Pretty straight forward.

Read the book, pay attention to the details of the curves and a little practice will get you an A. He is very nice guy if you just don't cross the line. He'll give you every opportunity to catch up and get ready for the tests.

WOW, Great attitude teacher, teaches everything from the book which is great, no need to attend. Tests are manageable, and He's great to ask for help. Many disagree but if you talk to him, he's great!!
I hated this guy. His jokes are lame and always repeats them as well as his boring personal stories. Test questions hardly ever cover the main topics, they're mainly details that he never even mentions in class. The book he uses reads like a computer or radio manual. You'll hate that book so much you'll want to slap Gill with it across the face.
Somehow makes the world's most boring subject bearable. He's a pretty funny guy if you pay attention. He grades on the sickest, easiest curve I've ever seen!! In fact, its not a curve, its a freaking crater!! I swear, he drops the lowest test and a "B" on a test will be bumped up to an "A". Crazy, just crazy. As for the haters, stop whining.
I enjoyed taking his class. His tests are hard but he is a overall great teacher. Will go over anything you don't understand. Has office hours for tutoring but just gotta study and put in the time to pass. He let me make up a test after I missed it TWICE!! Really nice guy.

He makes it interesting and the fact that he goes over chapters twice is cool cuz he makes sure you get it. you fill out a form for every chapter and if he didnt cover something well enough he goes back till every1 gets it. he is easy... and so nice. dont listen to the other people... theyre just ****en lazy ... y ru in college? his class is nice, cos what's on his lecture is exactly on the book and he's lenient about attendance. he wants us to come to his class based on our own conciousness. so just come to his class and listen, no need to take note, and review when it's near to exam, then u'll be fine !! if he's lecture is too boring, u can leave...

Amazing professor -- grades you objectively via test scores, *not* favoritism. His unique and interesting life experiences with economics really make the class enjoyable; coupled with his humor, expect a semester of engaging lectures. Currently in, A little unclear, but always there to help, goes over test reviews. A bit boring, very nice, doesn't care if you're late. No hw, only tests, but goes over them. Read the book and do the review a few times and you'll get at least a B. Nice guy, very polite, jsut don't talk or he'll embarrass the F* out of you. I'd take him again.

VERY EASY A. But i strongly don't recommend this class for econ major. He doesn't know how to teach, or more likely he doesn't even know econ itself. He needs to learn before teaching students. There's no difference between listening to his lecture and juss "skimming" the textbook. i can teach better than him. Except for super easy A, he's nothing.

Prof and the class are a JOKE. Read the book, do the study guide questions. Show up to class every once in awhile, you'll get an A. BTW, the final isn't cummulative. He drops ur lowest test score, which can include the final. So if have an A before the final, don't bother with it. Not a good choice for ECON majors who actually have to learn. Good for those who just need a GE. The class full? No worries. He adds everyone.

Took econ 2 with him, he curved the marks a little. and i agree witht he comment below, his first 2 tests are the same/ EASIER than econ 2's! maybe cos i took him in summer for econ 1. he tend to be kinder to us! but i see a pattern: in his 5 tests including finals, ONE OR 2 TESTS ARE ALWAYS VERY HARD. so get ready to take advantage of the easy one

Read the textbook and do the studyguide and there's no surprises on tests. Lectures cover the textbook and sometimes examples from "real life" which are interesting. I like this teacher!

he's a very lazy professor. Does not care about his students at all. I got an A in the class but i studies on my own; however, going to class really helped because he points out the problems that 'll for sure be on the test. Study the chapter tests at the end of each section
I took the online class. He's pretty useless if you need help or have questions about the actual material. There is no homework, the grade is based solely upon 4 tests. If you follow the study guides, you should have no problem. It's REALLY easy to get off track because there is no homework or anything to keep you involved.

The online class is worthless. He basically fails to follow/ignores you unless you constantly pester him on email/message forum. He takes FOREVER to grade your tests and the questions he posts are not anywhere nearly as helpful as the test itself, which is a joke. The book and study guide both sucks, it's really a luck of the draw. Avoid.

He has an "i don't care b/c you don't" attitude which makes it very hard to learn. The book is very unclear and also has many typos. Don't they edit texbooks?! He doesn't teach, just reads from book. Not the class to really learn this material. VERY frustrating experience.

He is funny. I can tell that. Everybody says he's easy but it's NOT THAT EASY. If you miss more than 3 classes, it's kinda challnging to follow up. Tests are getting tougher and tougher. Even if you get A on the first test, it doesn't guarantee that you still can take A. Although Mr. Gill is pretty funny and humorous, the class is quite boring.
The textbook pretty much sucks. His online class was tough because there's no homework, so you really aren't 100% sure if you understand the material until you get your test grade. Grade based solely on tests. No quizzes or anything else. Printing the study guides is the only way to pass the class.

I took his online class. This is for ESL students. You must his study guides. then you will get A or B. Study focus on formulas. 4 exams(25pts)+ 1 final(20pts)+ (5xtra pts) lowest exam will be dropped. easy GPA boost class.
I can't believe that Gill is actually the best Econ teacher at SMC, b/c the others must really be terrible if he's better. All those who are complaining about him are dumb and were certainly hoping to get a free ride for an A. I had him for econ 1 & 2 and thought that going to his lectures was helpful. Moreover, his textbook was EXTREMELY helpful for me coz almost all the stuff was similar the intermed n upper-div classes at UCLA. Seriously, YOU SHOULD TAKE HIM!!!
He is Ok. I don't know any better micro teacher at SMC I would not recommend taking micro and macro at SMC at all. It will not be an easy A unless you memorize each and every practice question from his book. You have to have his current version of course. His book is a ripoff but hey, he teaches economy :)

What are you guys talking about! This is my second semester taking professor Gill- I love him, it's four tests (he drops your lowest) and then if you have an A you don't have to take the final! He's funny and really straight foreword, read and do the study guide and you're guaranteed an A - that's all there is to it!
You have to buy his book, cost arnd $100. 4 tests 1 final. All 25 questions each (MCQ-worth 25% for your total grade for each test). 1st,2nd,4th test is all frm the study guide questions. 3rd test is bit tricky where he used questions from txtbk. total 5 tests, can drop the lowest score. Doesn't care abt attendance,easy class for lazy students.

Worst teacher I have had my entire life. I dislike econ and only took it to fill a requirement. The reviews on him here were decent so I took it. Worst mistake. He's so bad and boring no one shows up. Exams are "based on text". There's a huge gap in what is being taught and what is on exams. Filed complaint with counselor. He should be fired.
I've posted a horrific review on Gill before, but I forgot to add that I am not just a pissed off student. Well, I am mad at myself for taking the class but not at him per say. I am a straight A student, majoring in psychology and pre-med. I'm not a slacker or dumb. I failed his class. Literal F. He never cared once to help.
Honestly only take gill if its your last resort. I think he is a funny guy but thats it. You walk away with no knowledge. He wrote the book which is very unclear. Study guides are no help,they avg 180 questions and its the same question repeated just with different names, but on the test there is 25 questions? Most people fail. Dont take this class
I got an A for this Econ1 class. To the poster below, I can't believe you find the study guide useless. The thing is, as long as you study his study guide and do it over at least 3-4 times, you will get an A. Oh, and most people fail because they are lazy, not the tests are hard. I agree that this professor isnt that good but it is an easy class.

Professor Gill's class is famous for being one of the easiest at SMC. Attendance isn't required, but if you don't attend you wont be able to ask any questions. He wears a turban & speaks with a thick Indian accent, so ESL students may have a difficult time understanding his speech. So, if attendance & comprehension are not problems, enroll.
This is the first time I ever rated a professor online; however, I feel the need to warn you all NOT to take this professor. I signed up for his online class, and HE DROPPED ME 3 DAYS after without a reason. It was a 6 week class. He did not reply my email until the 2nd week, and he never gave me the add code like he said. Very irresponsible.

High use of the textbook. You have to buy the textbook to get an access code for the study guide which you will need it for the tests. In order word, you NEED to buy, you have no other options. Easy class but i despise those who cheat in the class.
Prof Gill is not as bad as what most people think. I mean, in terms of comparing him to the rest of the prof in the econ dept, he is considered pretty decent. Prof Carter will be better though as I took him for econ2. The only thing I hate about this class is the smelly MC1 classroom. Yuck.

There is a reason why only about 30 out of 90 students turned up for his classes after a few weeks into the semester. You go figure yourself if Gill is for you. He can be funny at times though even though his teachings are boring. Yawn....
Professor is funny, a little boring, explains things clearly. Class is difinitely on the harder side (tests are kinda hard). Recommended for those that are into economics and business. I took his ECON 1 and 2 6 years ago, so I hope that this review is relevant.
The best thing about him is he doesn't try to trick you like those other teachers. To get a good grade all you have to do is attend the class, and read the book.
I took both ECON1 and ECON2 in this semester.I got an A in past four tests, so I can be released from the final. In ECON1,just do study guide and read textbook. However, for ECON2,you have to try to memorize all details in the book. If not,you will fail. Mr.Gill doesn't care less about an attendance.On the test day,you can see a bunch of new faces

The best professor you can have at Santa Monica College.. There are like 3 or 4 tests which come straight from back of the book. No homework just go through the book and his lecture and trust me you'll get a A....

One of the most overrated professor in SMC. 5 quizzes, drops your lowest test score. The class is curved. First quiz is super easy, then it gets really hard. No extra credit, does not take into account students effort.

He threatens to fail you and uses intimidation such as "young lady if you write on the test you'll get an F" I've seen this man yell at his students in a very unprofessional manner so many times, I'm considering filing a report on this professor. Harry Gill should not be teaching period.
I wouldn't take his class again. It consisted of 4 tests 25 pts each that's it. Straight up grading. Many times his tests had correct answers marked wrong and vice versa. He is unresponsive to emails and does no teaching at all. There are much better ECON prof's at SMC such as Bruce Brown. Taking Harry can cause a 'Hairy' situation.
Honestly, the one best classes I have ever taken. Everything is straight from the book. He is easy to understand, and very funny. If you read the book... the tests will be very easy. The study guides are also very helpful.
I can see that he well deserved his Teaching Excellence Award in Fall of 2009! His teaching style, clarity, and humor are just excellent! And he is very easy to understand!

Gill is a great prof. I have him for macro and I took micro with him last fall. You need to go to class if you want an A, but attendance isn't mandatory. Those who are in class get an A and those who don't usually fail. You need the book for this class for the online study guide which the exams are based on.
The only mistake I made was not buying the new text book! I ended up failing my first test, because I was unable to access the online study guide! other than that its the best class, he is very understanding, and you don't even need to come to class. But make sure you buy the new book, or you will not be able to access the study guide!!!!!

Do not believe the ratings on here. Guy has thick Indian accent. Although he is nice and humble, he is the most boring teacher in SMC. Book is rubbish and his tests play word games. Avoid. Take Al Sabea for a good experience.
Gill is a solid teacher. Keep in mind students who don't like him, usually have failed his class and/or did not attend. He gives you all questions for test. You just have to study. Questions are taken right from online review that he provides. He is a wealth of knowledge if you just ask him. He used to work for the World Bank.
Horrible professor! There are more than half of the class feel hopeless because he has been in SMC too long that he doesn't care about helping students. If you ask him questions after class, he will tell you to ask him during class. And good luck finding him during his office hours. He tells the whole class," Don't you dare email me."
Gills an amazing teacher. Its no surprise he has constantly won teacher of the Semester. Everything is straight from the book- and the study guides are amazing!! He responds to his emails pretty quickly- and hes always breaking things down so its easy to understand. I totally recommend taking his class!
He is greatest prof. I've ever taken. Actually, I had taken before 2times Eco1 class with strange professor and got "F" letter and retake Eco1 class. When I take Gill's class, the Eco is became so much easy to me and helpful to understand. After you take this class, you will love Economic and his teaching style and do not give up. No pain no gain.
Gill is the most fair teacher at SMC. If you show up to class and do the study guide you are guaranteed an A. People who get low grades in his class are the ones that never show up or do the study guide. Tests are VERY fair because he goes over on what is going to be on the test in class. Gill is hard but fair professor. he does not assign homework or make it mandatory to go to class, but if you actually care about your grade and go to class it will pay off because he gives great hints on what will be on the test(his study guides are really helpful too) overall though it was a great class and was able to pull an A out in the end.

Students who make bad comments usually have failed his class and/or did not attend lectures and/or are just lazy.
Got a B, rarely attended = easy class. BUT I would NEVER recommend him to anyone, he's the most arrogant idiot I have ever met. Had me do extra work for class (over Christmas) to retain my B saying I got a 79% when he already sent out the grades which showed I was clearly over 80%. After I corrected him he didn't even have the decency to respond..
Most questions (chapter 1-5) are from his study guide. But in later chapter (chapter 6 - chapter 15) you need to read his notes. Easy class but I end up learn nothing.
I took Gill fall 2010.Gill will really help you if you ask for it. He'll repeat things in class and he tries to make jokes to keep things interesting. Don't expect an 'easy a' because you wont get it. you need to study. book/notes=crucial. Oh and if you cant follow directions [like not write on a test] don't take him! I got an A in the class.
I have took Prof Gill for fall 2010, and all I can say is that he is a great teacher and a fair grader. Do buy his textbook to get access to the online test sample questions, so that you can be prepared for his exam. I highly recommend him as he is very patience and approachable.
Gill is the most unfair teacher at SMC. My score was B but I got an A because I got a 6 extra points. My friend score was D but he gave him 10 points so he got a B. Also he didn't take a final test because gill already gave him a B.
Gill is Chill. He doesn't care about attendance. You can literally walk in checkmark yourself present and leave. He doesn't care. But do show up for the tests. The tests are your main concerns which are not easy. You can't just guess on it. Just make sure you make time to read all the material beforehand. Oh and he'll drop the lowest test score.

His online class is way to much. he grades only on Test and has discussion questions for you to answer but he does not give credit for anything other than tests. A lot of people were upset with his class and many did horrible on the tests. I dont recommend his class unless you can teach yourself the material.
His online class is way to difficult. Grading is based solely on tests. No way to make up points. Do not take him his class becomes way to stressful. If you know how to teach yourself then this class will be fine for you but if not look elsewhere.
I really regret this class and I think it's a shame he is teaching online because he is horrible. He isn't willing to work with his students at all even though we are asking for extra credit or any kind of assistance in order to not fail. I feel like his class might be better in person because that way he can't be lazy and would actually teach.

There are 5 multiple choice scantron tests and he drops the lowest test score. Teaches straight from the book and takes most of the test questions from the textbook study guides. He isn't much help if you have questions but if you read the book and do the study guides, you will do fine.
Super easy! Took the online spring class- He posted the distribution of the grades after every test. The final grade distribution- Top 1/3 percent got an A, next 20 percent got a B. The Study Guides are extremely helpful, all the questions from the test came straight from the study guide.
Online Class is very SIMPLE! Use the online line study guides, all questions are very similar to what you will see on the tests. His grading was simple, and always there to reply to emails. Enjoyed the class, Great Discussion questions
Really easy class. Just read the book and use the study guides and you will pass the class. He doesnt care if you show up as long as you take the quizs your good. He drops your lowest quiz grade and the quizs usually focuses on one or two chapters with only 25 questions and gives you a chance to make up any missed quizs. Super chill guy.

Super Chill Dude. He explains stuff really well. English is my second language but Gill makes everything understandable. He shows you the grade distribution after each test majority of the time 18 percent or more get A's. Curves Exams & Drops lowest. Use the study guides and you cant go wrong. Must Take- Planning on taking him for Econ 1.
He doesn't care if you attend the class or not. Teaches strictly by the book. Claims that questions are from the study guide BUT they definitely aren't. Very monotonous and not interesting at all. No homework. Take him only if you are VERY interested in Microeconomics and have prior understanding of the subject material.
Excellent professor and great guy. You will learn a great amount about the subject and be able to translate it in the real world. Textbook is very detailed, yet very simple to understand. Online study guide is the basis of the exams. Lectures are fun. He stays on track and is very funny and intelligent. Highly recommended.

His tests are VERY HARD. The questions asked are very specific but they do come straight of his 2,000 page book/study guide. The good part about his class is that he rounds all of the 4 test scores which most people fail so one could get away with a B in the class even if the get D's on all tests.
I took both his econ1 and 2 and found that econ2 is much easier, at least the test questions match with the study guides. Econ1 is just the opposite. Lectures don't help much. READ THE TEXTBOOK. No homework ever.
I really liked this class. No homework, he teaches that econ like simple math, and follows the texbook/studyguide so read and do that and the tests wont be too hard, and if you do well all semester you can slack on the final since he drops the lowest grade. Good class for people who dont have time for busy work :] plus hes pretty funny.
I took his econ1 online class. The questions on his test are SO difficult.The professor often does not answer emails and does not actually teach the class. After ch.4 theres no material online to help you! you are on your own and just have to read the book. You are basically teaching yourself in this class! No point of him being there. Watch out!
He did not tell us that there were 5 chapter on the final till a few days before the final. He doesn't answer emails and sends you emails saying to please not repeat emails to him. I had a 4.0 before this class. It's doable if you have people to study with and take the tests with. Good luck!

Harry Gill can be funny at times. That is the extent of his capacity as a teacher though. His classes are boring and are very hard to remain attentive in, and his tests are very difficult. At least 7 questions were subjective upon interpretation because said questions did not provide enough contextual information. AVOID THIS TEACHER!!
Warning: If you have a short attention span, DO NOT take his 3 hour class. Gill is a pretty interesting fellow. Participate as much as you can and he'll end up liking you. The study guides are really easy. However, the tests and study guides differ significantly. The wording of the tests is like the SAT- tricky and confusing.

His lectures are EXTREMELY boring that its hard to learn his class.I learned mostly on my own and got help from classmates,but he is a helpful teacher during his office hours.His tests are easy only if you understand everything covered in the chapters and all the study guide questions.
If you apply yourself and understand how important an Economics awareness is, Professor Gill will provide you the education. He knows through direct experience how the World operates. His personality is chilled back with a great sense of humor. We are lucky to have someone with his knowledge and real life experience.
Worst online class I have ever taken. Zero lecture materials, only unnecessarily confusing tests. Said the textbook was not required, but tests are taken from the textbook. You take the tests online, but if you save answers you can't change them. Probably the worst college class I've taken.
Horrible teacher. I am a straight A student and I dropped this class because I was getting a C. He is very boring which makes it difficult to concentrate in class. His lectures involve him reading word for word from the textbook. He teaches you the simplest form of math during his lecture and his tests are the hardest version possible. just BAD

Gill is great. His test are multiple choice right out of the book. The online study guides will help you immensely as he does pull some of his questions from there. TIP: his first test was right off the study guide. I think he did this to help students get off to a good start. I would definitely recommend Gill. Study hard A wont be a problem.

I took Professor Gill's online microeconomics class over summer for the 6-week session. His class is very straightforward. Read the book, do the study-guides on BKmultimedias and take the exams. No homework. The professor is very slow when it comes to responding to emails and you have to teach the class to yourself. Lazy professor and hard class.

Gill is a very quiet man who literally needs a microphone in class. Sit towards the front to make sure you understand his lectures (which seem to drag on forever). The tests are pretty difficult and there are no study guides. Which mean, if you want an A, you better make sure you know the text book. Plus side: skip class as much as you want.

What is the purpose of having a professor if there are no lectures, no interactive discussions, no feedback, and no help. If I wanted to CLEP this course I would have. Are all online classes like that? Where you just read the book on your own? The book is so complicated and hard to understand without someone explaining all the formulas.
Although there are only 5 exams during the semester, they're pretty hard and lots of people are having problems finishing everything on time. His wording for his study guides and exams also may confuse some people. Not a very good teacher imo.

Its so interesting to see how many people say he doesn't have study guides. when you buy the book you are given an access code- which provides an online study guide for each chapter. There are so many questions on there to study to help properly prepare. His exams aren't tricky if you use the resources that he PROVIDES on the ONLINE STUDY GUIDE.
One of my favorite teachers, very dry wit. If you use the online access code to study, pay attention to lectures, and are somewhat smart you will get an A+ I'd recommend sitting near the front & participating in class bc otherwise you'll get lost. Got an A. He is a very straight forward professor. The material on the exams is representative of the textbook and online study guide (which you get access too when you buy the book). You have to study the online material. I took his class online, and without a doubt I would take it again. Exams are pretty easy if you study the material provided.
Easy tests if you use the study guide. At the end of each exam he posts the grading distribution. The final distribution for our online class was 38 percent for an A and 16 percent got a B. so he is fair and generous grader. Easy class is you use the study guide
Grades are based 100% based on 5 tests and he drops the lowest score. He provides a study guide that comes with the book (over $100). The study guide questions are not bad, but Professor Gill's exams are hard. His questions are confusing, therefore, knowing the subject doesn't mean anything. Too many emails (confuses you), and he threatens to drop.

Very tough exams (5 to be exact). You're better off taking a clep test, it is basically the same thing, but much more affordable and easier. The formulas are hard and it is difficult to teach yourself how to do them. The exam questions can be confusing.
Although his class is relatively easy to get an A in if you read all the assigned chapters and do all the online study guides, he is a clumsy teacher. I had gotten 5 problems wrong on his final, and after emailing him about it, discovered that 4 of them were actually correct. You must check up with him if you think something was graded incorrectly.
Professor Gill is a really understanding teacher. He is available at office hours and is very helpful. I suggest using the online study guide. Don't hesitate to ask questions, he is always willing to clarify. The material is difficult but he tries his best to make it understandable, but expect to learn a lot.
I don't really get why people think the tests are hard. As long as you read the chapters, do the study guide, and UNDERSTAND the materials, the tests are fairly easy. Even tho he doesn't take roll, I would still suggest you to go to class. Save your time from reading and understanding the chapter. Always willing to answer questions! Not a bad prof!
If you read the book, and pay attention in class the exams are straight forward. I would suggest going to office hours, and asking questions. He is a really understanding professor cares about students, especially those who show they are putting in effort. And do the online questions, his exam is basically just like that with different numbers.

I took this class my first semester back after a long absence from school. I knew nothing about how to study much less Macroeconomics. If you buy the textbook and actually read it there is no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class. He literally tells you exactly how to do it. Do the online test review, its long but worth it.
I took his Econ 1 online class and did not pass. He doesn't provide any online lectures to actually explain the material. The textbook is confusing and the tests seemed near impossible. I'm sure this class would be much easier if taken on-campus, but I definitely do not recommend his online class.

Not a big fan. Relies way too much on the textbook as he literally just reads it to everyone for the whole class period. He can be a bit hard to understand at times as well. Luckily, the book is well-written and makes the material easy to understand. Also, the class is curved so you should be able to do well.

I'm a DSPS student (disability). Professor Gill was difficult. He gave me accommodations to begin with & slowly started to give none at all except minimal. It was confusing to me and hurt my grade. There was no homework or extra credit and the grade was based only on 5 tests (about 25 questions each). Basically have to teach yourself from the book!
Great professor. Lectures can feel dense and slow. Practicing the numerical examples in the book and memorizing formulas are important but easy. Tests are based on the numerical examples in the book, things he tells you in class, and the online study guide that comes with the book, but there lots more questions than on the test itself. No homework.
One of the best professors at SMC. I took his econ 2 class this past semester. He is very thorough and will make sure everyone understands everything. Will go over test questions in class so when you get to the test, you know what to expect. Gives extra credit, and drops your lowest test score, so you have to be very lazy not to pass this class
I honestly have no idea how he grades because I got B's on every test and still wound up with an A, didn't even take the final. He drops the lowest test score and gives the top 15% of the class an A, the second 15% a B, and the next 30% a C. So either my class didn't study or he just liked me. You literally do not need to show up to class.
Professor Gill is not the best teacher i've ever had but if you work you will pass the class. His lectures can be boring but he is funny and care about his students. Give one extra credit. No Homework. Drop the lowest score and curve the grades.
His lectures are a bit dry, but he give it to you straight. He rarely if ever gets political, and doesn't give into the social justice narrative. I highly recommend professor Gill to anyone who wishes to learn econ without having to hear about 'muh opression'. Overall, 9.3/10
This dude is the worst. First day of class he seemed ok, just this soft speaking Kenyan guy, but taking his class was a mistake. If he catches you with your phone twice he drops you from the class, if you make ANY mark on the test paper he hands out he fails you (apparently to save paper), he's extremely disorganized and his tests are worded poorly
He was probably the worst online professor I have ever taken. His exams are impossible. The book is really confusing and long and just hard to understand. He messed up on the exam questions a lot and on the answers. The book for his class was expensive and terrible. My grade in the class has been below 50% the entire semester. Ruined my GPA.
Harjinder's a nice guy. Get ready to read. His tests can make you sweat, but put in the effort and you'll do well! The final was a piece of cake though.
This is the worst professor I've had at SMC. He can be nice and funny at times but the second you make him mad he turns into a completely different person. He will literally get in your face and harass you in front of the whole class if he sees you on your phone. Reads the book word for word during lectures. Wouldn't recommend.
