Prof. Haines allowed us to do ALOT of homework and extra credit and had a unique grading system which allowed you to choose are you gonna get an A? That's up to how much u put into it. Environmental sci was fun. Sometimes interjected his own liberal views but thats ok. Freedom of speech,right? Nice guy. Good class. Enjoy.

His outlines made me understood Bio 110 because he practically made me wrote notes on the outlines and by that, following him in class when he was teaching.He was very good and ready to help.His labs and exams were very detailed. This was expected of any students who listened to him in class and studied.Sucess takes hardwork and motivation.

Doc is a really great teacher. Took this course 2 another college & dropped it. He gives you the objectivies & then teaches to them & he tests to them. PowerPoints are great, easy to follow. Starts every class w/ any ques on last class before we move on. Has many examples to illustrate discussion. Made class really interesting. BEST TEACHER EVER

I am not abio major, but if I had had him in Freshman year I might have changed my major. Really interesting guy, asked lots of good questions to get you thinking. Always willing to give students time after class for help or just to continue w/ class discussion. Never had a professor who was so enthusiast about his subject. A really special prof.

I am a graduate from a A list school changing fields. he is by far the BEST TEACHER I ever had! Expected a lot as class is for majors, but gave powerpoints, and lots of out of class time to help you succeed. Lots of great examples & questions to make you think. Every teacher should be exposed to him.

Not a Bio major but found this prof very interesting. Lots of good examples about the material that made the subject very personal for me. Lots of good class discussions on materials. Gave good objectives, taught them, & tested on them. NOT ALWAYS the case. Better than any prof I have had at my regular college. Summer class here. Nice guy

Not a bio major but loved this guy. Expected a lot but was VERY HELPFUL in giving out of class time to help you pass. Great powerpoints told you what was important and that was what was on the test. Really good examples made the class more personal. If I had to take another science class this would be my guy.

Really sweet guy. Hard, expected a lot but did his best to make it possible for U to succeed. Unit objectives given, powerpoints covered objectives, and tested on the objectives. No suprises. Got a D in this class at PSU. This guy is fab!!! Very easy to listen too and great powerpoints to study. Really knew how to explain material. Great examples. Not like prof at PSU. Willingly gave me after class time for help. I feel I now have a strong base in Biology. Everyone should take this guy. He is really 1 of a kind teacher!!!!

Professor Haines is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is very clear in class about both the information we are learning and what he expects. In the beginning I thought his class was going to be impossible but as long as you study the information that you learn in class you will be fine! For bio 110 pick professor Haines!

Failed this class last semester. Got a B+ w/ him. He is a great teacher. Not only does he make everything crystal clear but he makes knowing it important w/ great info. Plus always willing to spend time w/ students in office or online. He wants you to do well. But U must know your stuff. He doesn't give grades. Take him if you can.

Prof Haines is a GREAT TEACHEr. He teaches because he wants to, not because it's a job. Really helpful but very demanding. You will learn Biology from him but with an appreciation of it. The man is passionate about Biology. he loves what he does and it shows.

One of the hardest teachers I've had. However, he ALWAY makes time for questions. He even answers questions via email on the weekend, and holidays. Explains things very well, and gives students every opportunity to succeed. Wonderful person, and shows respect towards his student body.

Really HARD!!! If you are not willing to work, don't ntake him. BUT if you want to really LEARN & UNDERSTAND Bio, then he is the MAN. Tells you what you have to know, explains it in class & will go over it w/you again & again in hours or on email.Test are multiple choices and short answer gight from power points. NOT a bio major. In class by mistake but loved the prof. He was really helpfull and gave me lots of private time after class to explain material. He LOVED Bio and it showed in class. Made class interesting w/ examples and discussions. Loved him.

He knows his stuff and wants you to do well. You can ask him questions 24/7 through e-mail and he'll always respond promptly. I personally don't think the class was that hard (I seem to be alone in that), he rarely asked anything that wasn't on the powerpoints. He also frequently gives a handout with your grades and final average, which is helpful.

Great teacher! Very clear with how he taught and made sure his students understood what was going on. His test came from his PP. He was always willing to help before and after class. I would def. suggest him to a friend and take another class he taught!

Very tough course, especially if you are taking it in the summer which is only 8 weeks long. His expectations are high, he makes sure you know exactly what will be on the test and is available outside of class to help. He will go over it over and over again until you get. You can tell he loves what he teaches!

For lecture, know his objectives and only study his powerpoint slides (book is NOT needed!). For lab, know objectives and bolded words. Extremely helpful and great at giving examples. Poor pronunciation but a fabulous teacher. Attendance and participation are Mandatory!

This class was a killer, summer session 6 weeks long 2 1/2 hours per day plus labs. But prof really made it cool. Funny in class, always willing to answer ques, lots of extra examples. U could c he wanted everyone to do well. Great on email help, always in early and stayed late to help. PowerPoints were the best. Taught/tested from them. Take him!!

This guy is good, take him. Bio major course so he expects a lot. But his objectives r right on and his PowerPoints teach right to them. Plus he he VERY available for help in office hours and by email. Really wants students to learn Bio. He has a real passion for the subject and for teaching. Very hard teacher for someone coming back to school 20 years after HS. Really expected a lot of time on course. But was a real doll w/ supplying help. Would not have made B+ w/o his extra time. Class materials are easy to follow and understand. Just took me a long time and help to learn them. Really wished he toaught Bio 111.

VERY HIGH expectations but it is a class for science majors. But he was the most helpful Prof. ever. Great unit object. taught to them w/ great Power Points, always available after class & on line. If you are genuinely interested in pursuing a degree in the sciences, and are willing to read the chapters you're assigned, and spend a decent amount of your week studying, then I would absolutely recommend Professor Haines. He is so nice, and genuinely wants his students to comprehend the material and do well. But you have to be willing to study.

Mr. Haines is a great professor!! He does not like his students to fail. He answers all questions, emails, and has good office hours. I will say the tests are really, really tough. You really have to read and study if you want to pass. Other than that, great teacher. There for his students in anyway. He curved 2 exams that we scored really low on.

If U want to really understand Bio and just not get a grade then take him. Great lectures, ties things together, always showing adaptations. Clear expectations, great Power Points. He is clear on what he expects. He hands out an objectives sheet at the beginning of every chapter. Tests are a little tough, but if you study the objectives, you'll do fine. He gives many opportunities for grading. Weekly quizzes, five tests, and one 3 page paper. The paper is the hardest part of the course, but he grades the paper generously.

By far , Professor H has been the greatest science instructor thus far. The course was challenging and the lectures are heavy but he DOES NOT RUSH which is crucial for material absorption. Encourages students to ask questions and even made himself available to attend our pee class study session. Wish I could take him again.

Not a BIo Major taking required class for transfer. Class was so hard, so much material in depth lots of vocab. Prof H had very high expectation. But he was a really WONDERFUL teacher. Gave great objectives and vocab lists, had great power points that covered objectives. But MOST IMPORTANT gave so much time after class to help students.

Prof H had very high expectations but it was a Bio major class. To help w/ expectations, he gave very specific objectives, well done powerpoints, and lots of extra material on Canvas. Plus he was always available before and after class for help. He encouraged questions during class. He was available by email all the time and responded quickly.

If anyone gets a grade below a B it's because YOU have not put in the work. It's not enough just to listen to the lectures and read the textbook. He posts various links to bio videos. Please watch these videos they will help you so much in this class. There's a lot of reading but the actually course is not that hard.
