He's a really great teacher. His material might be somewhat hard but if you ask him for help, ur gonna be ok. I mean come on...i took him for financial AND managerial. He has to be a good teacher.
Don't expect to get good notes he races through notes on board and uses overhead projector a lot. He does put examples on his web page though. You will need to read up on the chapters to help yourself to get all the points due to lack of notes.

Harry is a decent teacher. Pay attention to deadlines in his class, do the homework that he assigns, and you should do just fine.
Im an "A" student and I stuggled so hard in this class. His lectures are confusing and he is very fast. Im sure he is a great business man but he is a very bad teacher.
This teacher is great. Tests are easy. Test have ?s that add up to 150pts, tells you to do as many as you can. only have to do half to get a 100 so if you dont know some topics its ok. Super easy. Tells you the topics of ?s the day before. Pay attention in class and you will do fine!
I feel sorry for anyone who took this class with another professor just look at his resume.Mr Hooper brings reallife examples to class, he keeps the topic interesting... as far grading check out his sylabus he is generious with points,reguardless of who you take you will have to work to pass ACG2021
great class..he is an amazing teacher. i hated accounting before this class...now i just kind of dislike it. he made it interesting. definitely take managerial with him instead of anyone else.
the guy is smart i guess. he's obviously successful outside of class, but hes a really crappy teacher. do the practive problems he assigns in class, and you'll be ready for the tests. notes and just about any other lecture in his classes are useless. just do the practice problems, you'll pass.
Harry takes a bit to get used to, but if you put in the effort in this class, you will learn far more than you could imagine. What I learned in this class has been more useful in business classes at UF than any other class I have taken. (Statistics is a close second) Just keep up with the material, and don't be afraid to ask questions!
His lectures are really hard to follow as far as what you are suppose to be getting out of it for the test. But they are very applicable in the business world. I've had him for two classes in the past too, deffinately takes getting use to for the tests. His classes do puch you to learn the material.
This guy is a total assbag. All he does is talk about himself and his business adventures, that have obviously failed since he is at a CC now. He doesn't actually teach anything, his notes look like 2nd grader chicken scratch, and he is the laziest prof I have ever encountered. If you need another reason to hate accounting, take his class.
He is the worst teacher ever! He talks about his businesses all the time, and refuses to answer questions related to the material he will have in the test. Acts very arrogant and condescending so don't even bother seeing him during his office hours because he will not tell you anything useful. The tests are mainly exercises and some terms.
Professor is very hard to understand and NOT helpful at all. He tries to make you feel stupid if you ask a question and what I noticed is that he can't actually work out the problems himself. Some of the work he gives for review is a waste of time. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

Spare yourself the money and time...don't take him! He rushes through every topic and he is so hard to follow.
i took him for both financial and managerial. if you can follow his lectures and read through the book you'll do fine. he's very generous on grading the projects and tests. if you put the effort in and he sees that he'll help you out. just ask him questions. he's actaully personable. take his class!
I really think he goes too fast and his lecture is all over the place. He is really personable and makes the class interesting. I haven't picked up the book to do any homework and my grade is an easy B. I think his test cover the material but easy to get an A or B without too much effort. I say take his class and you'll be happy you did! :)
Mr. Hooper is a great teacher if you actually come to class and pay attention. You can very quickly get lost if you miss classes. His lectures can be very hard to take notes from, but the tests are out of 150 points. If you pay a lot of attention and practice preparing the financial statements you will be fine.

this class is a hard class no matter who you take. Hooper is a good teacher, very easy to talk to before and after class. If you need help you can always ask. His tests are hard but out of 130 points. If you put the time in you can definitely get an A or B. If your not planning on putting in 8-10 hrs a week, 20 hrs per test dont take this class
Very difficult class compounded by a difficult professor. When he says you must invest 20+ hrs a week to the class, he isn't exaggerating. Grades homework very thoroughly and exams are quite difficult. Prep exams are nothing like real ones. I took this online, and would not recommend it.
Very good teacher in a very hard class. If you go to every class and do all the homework you should be ok.
Probably one of the laziest teachers I've ever met. He's forgotten about our class twice (no show), and the text book is something he's written, and asks his students to proof read for him. He routinely forgets to upload sections of the text (online). He "may" be a great businessman, but when it comes to teaching, he's awful!
Disorganized, scattered, difficult to follow. Text book is his own writing and not very clear. The old adage holds true "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." I wish I could drop his class without getting a W on my transcript--or could finish the class with another instructor.
Constantly complains about his "meager community college salary", makes the material frustratingly difficult to understand, and seems to really hate being in the classroom. He acts as though it is beneath him. This is an important class, take it from someone else.

Professor Hooper is a great teacher. If you do what he asks, show up for class,join in the class discussions and put in the necessary study time you will make an A or B in his class. Just pay attention and you will learn. He is also available before and after class.
He was terrible about answering direct questions related to material. This class is a prerequisite course for business majors; take this class with someone else if you don't have an accounting background.
Pro Hooper is a good teacher if you are interested in learning. I recommend his class if you are accounting major and want to learn. He was very helpful when I had questions and his test are not easy but they are not suppose to be.
Hooper is a classic chalk board and mouth teacher. He rarely uses powerpoint and he gives out a lot of hand outs. When he lectures he just mumbles non sense. He goes off topic a lot of times in class. He has two exams. Midterm and a Final. If you fail the midterm, you will not pass. Uses the text book alot. Had to teach myself accounting.
Hooper is the worst teacher I have ever had. He gets angry when you ask questions and expects everyone to know everything. He rambles in class about useless, off-topic information, and wrote his own text book which he was finishing each chapter on a weekly basis. He doesn't give you any idea of what will be on the exams and is very rude. AVOID!!
This class is a lot of material to cover. Professor Hooper offers onsite reviews and I would not have done as well without attending these onsite reviews. Do the homework and look to him for guidance, he will help. Some of the information does not necessarily make sense, but that is way the accounting works, you just have to learn it.
Accounting is a very tough class no matter who you take. Hooper has a strong accent and can sometimes be hard to understand. Although I failed the midterm I was still able to pull out a C in the class after acing the final and project. Overall if you can read the book and asks questions this is the guy to take for accounting just pass the test
Took this class scared to death bc it's the class w/the highest drop rate in the school. Material isn't hard, just LOTS to cover. Prob spent 40 hrs a week on hw. Fair prof, a little unorganized (had to email him about my project grade cause he had me down as a 0, I turned it in early, he put it in a 'different file'). But very nice and helpful.
Professor Hooper is the man. Accounting is a hard class but he breaks it down and explains it well. Make sure to do well on your H.W and project. Those are easy points to get. There is also a midterm and a final. He posts a review for each which is extremely helpful.
Difficult subject, and it is at 3000 level. However, he did relativly well covering the material, but he could have done better. I felt the project in class was a waste of time, and I think he felt the same. It was most helpful to have an exam review online, but the exams were murder thanks to being blank forms without any guidance. Study hard.

STAY AWAY!! He is one of the worst prof. I have ever had. He is scatter brained and does not follow through with what he says. Accounting is not easy to teach, but he could do a lot better at it. The book he chose was a blunder and so was his teaching skills. I would expect better for someone teaching a 3000 level course.
Professor Hooper doesn't get enough credit for his teaching style. Demanding and puts onus on students to get assignments done in a timely manner however has been ore than reasonable to assist when needed. I think he is a great instructor and deserves more credit than given. Good job sir.

The 1st half of this class is accounting and is pretty easy. The 2nd half is the managerial portion and is very dense material. You will spend probably 20 hours per week in the 2nd half. There are 2 exams and a project. The project is easy. Spend time studying and you will do fine. The book is messed up, confusing, and it is very unorganized.
He teaches MyAccounting lab, everything on that site DO! He considers it participation and will give you credit. OMG THAT PAPER

You can either answer a list of questions or do a case study on the exams. The case study is more math based so you get to choose.
Professor Hooper can be rude at times, but he's helpful and will answer your questions promptlyregularly. You must follow his instructions for assignments exactly or you will fail have points deducted. He does grade on a curve because many students struggle with this class. Pay attention and do what he says and you will at least pass.
The class is pretty much straight forward. The work assignments are available via Pearson lab and you pretty much go in weekly to do the hw and take the quiz. Grade are posted immediately. You will need a lot of help with second half of the class. The prof uses his own online book and it does not help. Prepare to attend tutoring sessions.
Worst teacher I've ever had at Santa Fe. Very scattered and the material is not clear. He expects the formulas and material to be common sense and doesmt do a good job explaining the material. I made an A in financial, but Hooper makes this class way too confusing and difficult. I would highly advise taking another teacher
If you have the ability to take the hybrid course, take it. Taking this course online is rough. The first part is financial, be prepared not to use the textbook assigned. It was useless. The second half of the course is, of course, managerial, via his very own textbook material. Also, the quizzes for the second part do not coexist with his text.
Just take him. Plan to work - I have had much worse at SF. Plan to learn; novel idea?! Learn to communicate - long before you have a problem. U r a managerial students right? Let's build those skills now and Hooper is a great choice. I put off taking him for 2 years, now I am asking myself why. Good, solid experience!
Hooper is the worst prof. I've ever taken at SF. He is rude, unorganized and publicly ridicules students that ask questions in class. Unfortunately there are currently no other options for ACG3024, which is a disgrace, given his horribly poor rating. The majority are correct, he's terrible.
His lectures were pointless to go to but he would sometimes give out points for little things. Only 35% of his lectures helped me understand the information. Would teach in class and it usually had nothing to do with the online assignments. His study guides didn't help. Class is based on your online grades. Tests based on online assignment info**
I highly recommend taking this course online. I took the hybrid course and he rambled on for almost 3 hours. He is very confusing, and doesn't make much sense during his lectures. Going to class is pointless. Once, he showed up 45 minutes late. There is a project split into 2 parts. It's very difficult so do not wait until last minute to complete.
My biggest issue with this class was that half way through the semester the textbook we were assigned simply ended we were not given an alternative resource. Students were left to Google answers to their homework. Not kidding. Everyone in the class was completely lost and Professor Hooper thought that was normal. Average grade in this class is a C.
Professor Hooper is excellent. He provides exactly the necessary information to complete the assignments well, he doesn't deviate from the textbook because he knows the textbook to be well and true, and he does provide feedback on when the texts become out of date because of new laws - informing us on how the new laws update the texts.
I read some reviews and I don't understand why people dislike him so much. I will admit he can be a tad confusing in his lectures but he really does want you to do well. He cares about participation a lot. You can tell from listening to him he really knows his stuff. At the end of the day he's a good guy and helped me do well in accounting.
First half of the class is ok. Practice, homework, and quizzes on each chapter. Must make a 70% on homework to take quizzes. The practice before the homework is for your participation grade. One project split into two parts. C.13-17 are very new and difficult concepts and formulas, takes a few pages to do one problem. If ur dedicated you will pass.
Awful teacher for this class. He didn't know how to use the computer tech and ranted about personal life at times. He talks to you like you are a PHD student. Being a visual learner DID NOT help me cause he talks a lot and writes a little. He offers minimum help on his "project" (10% of your grade) and expects you to basically teach yourself.
Unfortunately, ACG3024 is required for the business programs AND Hooper is the ONLY instructor option. The assigned textbook and assignments that go along with it are easy, but he also wrote his own text book (each ch has 40 plus pages) and it makes no sense. Don't bother asking for help either.
The financial accounting aspect of this class is fairly easy, if you've recently taken financial accounting. The managerial part is entirely his own PDF "textbook" with 2005 clipart and is very long and difficult to follow. There are two exams, a mid-term and a final, worth 50% of your grade and a project worth 15%. DO WELL ON THE QUIZZES AND PROJ.
Financial part is easy. Managerial is the difficult part. If you learn well independently and by reading, you will be fine. Chapters applicable to project came after the project was due, so read ahead if you can. This is one of those classes you just have to get through, that is part of college. Adapting to what you get and making the best of it.
He will not help you on the homework he doesnt teach in class hes a very strict grader. If you ask for help you annoy him im halfway through the class and i can see this going bad for me and everyone around me i do not suggest taking hooper you will not learn. Oh yeah he also makes his own curriculm and its ridiculus.
Hybrid class. He assigns work studies to do and I didn't find out that I was doing them wrong till a month later when I got my first one back, and I've already submitted two since then. I had a 3.5 GPA coming into this class. My son had surgery so I missed a class, and thats when he announced the midterm. Never put on canvas/connect so I missed it
Just a terrible professor. Loves to drop case studies that are due in like two days. So much homework. exams required to do calulations then type a paper about it in like a hour and half. had a 3.5 gpa till i took his class. probably gonna fail it.

be ready to type alot of papers and have alot of homework. he doesnt allow "check work" option or retakes in connect homework. one week we had 14 things due (connect homework plus a paper) and it was intentional. oh yeah, and you never know what you grades are in his class. to lazy to make connect and canvas match. just be ready to type papers alot
The case studies are hard and sometimes unclear. Don't take a heavy schedule with him. His classwork consumed more time than all my other classes combined. His inclass sessions are kinda pointless don't really learn anything.

Uses complicated terms to try & confuse you on lectures & tests to make sure you're "paying attention" as if there wasn't enough to study in this course alone, now I had to memorize all the synonyms to the word compensation -_- He uses his own book (pdf) which is as confusing as his lectures & grades half the course the last day grades are due!
Dr. Hooper is a great professor for a tough subject. I did not think the entire course was extemley hard, but you will need to do the homeowrk, quizzes and practice tests to be sucessful in this class. Dr. Hooper is accessible, fair, and really cares if you get the content. He drops your 3 worst grades so that helps alot. Definatly recommend!
Professor Hooper single-handedly made me create a rate my professor account. He grades maliciously short-sighted (despite saying there are multiple correct answers), doesn't provide useful feedback on assignments or tests, and does not give clear instructions on assignments. Professor Hooper may be the most inconsiderate professor I have ever seen. He posts online lectures where he just reads the slides that we already have access to, offers no form of exam preparation, and gives no feedback on grades. I am having to teach myself the entire course.
Lesson Learned! I will check the Rate my Professor always so I don't make the mistake of taking such a terrible profesor like him :( I feel so frustrated because I could not drop the class and I am now having a bad grade because of his lack of good attitude, commitment, and over all readiness for an online class.. Harry Hooper is all in all the worst professor I have ever had. He does not define what he wants in his homework at all, is a terribly tough grader literally saying "No one can get 100 there is always room for improvement". Not ready for online at all, no communication, boring pointless powerpoint lectures. Just the worst. Avoid at all costs.
The case studies are graded really harshly. You usually get 1-2 sentences of feedback and in-class you talk about what the "correct answer" should be. In my case, it feels like I did one thing wrong for the last case study and that alone failed the assignment. I don't think I've really earned anything here.
I have no desire to bash the guy personally, but I will say that a lot of the complaints in the previous reviews ring true and there is a reason he rates at 2.4 with only 18% willing to take another course with him again. He is incompetent with online classes and his lectures are just him narrating the book's power point slides. Waste of time!
He is so rude. You go through the entire semester not even knowing your grade. He just lets McGraw Hill teach you. Doesnt even screen anything.
This professor fits none of the above tags. He is not fun, does not lecture, definitely is not inspirational nor respected. He chose to teach many in person classes and decided only one would be online which was my class. Not to mention he changed it to online from in person about a week before school started. Does not explain things only reads.
Worse professor ever! He is very rude and won't help. He'll grade paper so harshly yet won't specify what needs to be done. Lectures are a nightmare since all he does is read the PowerPoint from connect. I would suggest transferring to a different school if he's your only choice for this class.
I was hesitant to take his class at first because of the poor rating. But the moment I took the class he is kinda funny and lenient especially when it comes to quizzes, it is not timed. He don't give a lot of homework just like what I experience with Professor Cunningham. Attendance matters to him. Midterms and Finals are all multiple choices.

Nice guy, bad professor. His lectures were rushed and he does NOT explain things well at all. Be prepared to read the textbook word for word. I studied a lot for the midterm and still got an F, it was really hard and people who did pass it cheated. The midterm is worth 50% of your grade and is 400 points. Sometimes sarcastic and comes off as rude.
This teacher is completely unclear and horrible. His accent ruins everything and his teaching style sucks. Never goes over the correct material which leads students to completely fail his exams and quizzes. Not even joking, save ur GPA and avoid this guy.
The class has a lot of long and time-consuming homework. Overall, I didn't find his lectures very helpful to the concepts on homework and exams. You will need to learn the material yourself and through outside sources to understand and pass. The SLO assignment is long and a bit annoying, so start on that early.
Professor Hooper is really annoying to deal with. He has no lectures at all and gives very poor (and sometimes incorrect) feedback on papers. There is very little guidance on what he expects out of students. Also, there were constant problems with Connect and the actual structure of the class was extremely bad.
Absolutely HORRIBLE! Does not teach anything. Extremely tough grader. Stated in class he purposely makes it a C average. His class is based on case studies and if you don't write his opinion, you get a horrible grade. He also does not follow a rubric. When asked what he is taking points off for, he stated he "adds them up" and does not deduct.
Professor Hooper is a tough grader and takes forever to grade. He doesn't value his students time. He will give an extensive amount of work due in a very short period of time and keeps us past the time to leave class because he loves to hear himself talk. He gives very little feedback. He is not very good with technology and forgets everything.
Professor Hooper has probably been my worst professor at Santa Fe. He only has two exams throughout the semester, worth 50% of your grade. He does not like females in the class, he seems to only call on the girls. I felt like I could not learn anything, as I was always worried he would yell at me. He does NOT know how to work Canvas!
Tough professor, but there are ways to get through the class. Attendance is a must, and the two exams are worth half your grade. Utilize resources like unstuck AI and the textbook to stay on top of the material. Overall, not the most enjoyable class, but manageable with effort.
