Dr. Kestler is a WONDERFUL teacher. I had him at 8 in the morning and he made going to class fun. He is wild and entertaining you will laugh through his class, but you learn soooo much. Definately need to study for his tests, but they're funny too.

This prof made Microbiology entertaining. He had amusing ways of describing and explaining things. I ended up liking this class way more than I expected. Friendly and good teacher.

He's kinda tough, and you should study and go to lecture in order to know what's going on. But if you do that he's great! Also a really helpful teacher, he'll sit and help you with anything you don't understand.

Dr. Kestler is the best bio teacher I've had. He's very funny, we were always taking about weed in that class, lol. He knows what he's talking and I recommend him to anyone.

Microprof is a very funny professor. He kept me rolling! Easily distraced and class time spent on anything but micro! Tests were difficult! You really have to read the notes and book chapters to do well .

He is a very interesting teacher. I had a lot of fun and learned a ton of things. He keeps you entertained and interested in the material. It is a challanging class but I found that he makes you want to learn the material. Microprof is an awesome teacher.

Albert Einstein has nothing on Dr. Keslter. He is without a doubt one of the most intllegient man that I will meet. yes he does get side track his test are not easy but it like anything you get what you put into it. Reading and coming to class is required,if you want to do well.

I thought he was insane at first and maybe he nearly is, but he's a very smart and friendly guy. His lectures and exams are very funny and I wish he would have been a bit more serious. During his lectures he tends to wander alot and he doesn't go into details nearly enough. He's relatively easy and gave plenty of opportunities to earn bonus points.

Very nice professor. I learned so much from him and he kept me interested in the subject. If I had the time, I would take all of his classes. He is very fair to the students. LCCC is lucky to have him.

VERY entertaining! However, you MUST know the material and KEEP the book even though you're told its not needed. Be prepared to print out massive amounts of material in order to comprehend the lectures.

unbelievable.i so did not want to take this class but dr k made this entertaining and very interesting to the point that i actually learned alot.his tests are a challenge but he wants you to learn the material and will go out of his way to help you. microprof, i will always remember you and that a virus is an obligate intracellular parasite.

Previous commenter never deserved straight A's if they couldn't pull an A in 161. 161 is principles of bio I. That class should be a walk in the park regardless of the teacher for someone who had previous bio knowledge. Getting A's in easy classes where a teacher hands out grades doesn't make you smart & doesn't entitle you to an A in real classes

The Microprof is the coolest!

This is a teacher who loves this subject and it shows. He makes a hard class much easier. He provides Power points and podcasts of his lectures. These are wonderful tools, if you use them(duh). Some say things are on the tests that he never covers. If anything is on the tests and he didn't cover it then he gives credit for those questions.

Excellent teacher! Made 8am micro something to look forward to. Tests were fair, and he throws free points at you left and right! Thoroughly enjoyed the class! Way to go Microprof!

I enjoyed this class not knowing what to expect.Dr. Kestler is one of the best just a very special kind of person, we are are lucky to have met and learn from. YES you must study that's what your there for and you'll use your thinking skills in many directions, which is a good thing; you learn in life from experiences, stories you've heard, facts.

Dr. K is HILARIOUS! But right on the money w/ what you need to know for his tests. If you study; you'll do fine....If not; don't bother! Micro is not an easy "A", but you can get one if you really apply yourself! Take Dr. K's 8:00am class....he's guaranteed to wake you up; he's so funny!

BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! Woo microprof! Very knowledgable and very very funny! Classes were so entertaining I never wanted to miss! But don't slack because he's cool. The tests are just as difficult and involved as A&P tests. Labs were long but fun and interesting. I would have taken the class even if it wasnt required!

He subbed for my bio 161 class when we went over meiosis. Just made a lot of sex jokes didn't really go over meiosis, but he was really funny. Hopfully I'll have him for an actual class soon.

Great teacher! But my first two weeks of class it took me awhile to understand his teaching methods. In his lectures he relates stories about his life or current news to the subject he is going over. He's an awesome teacher! You can tell how much he loves what he does. He gives out a lot of extra credit. It however is not an "easy" class regardless of the teacher. You need to study and put time into the class. He definitely makes a difficult subject something you don't mind learning about.

The test were difficult. I was sometimes felt like the material was from left field b/c it wasn't on the reviews. the reviews got you ready to know the chapter material. Pay attention to the lectures and review the podcasts, he draws on class discussions. He is an amiable professor. He has a passion for micro and sharing that information!

Hard class. Don't take it during the summer if you can help it. He is interesting and will keep your interest in a subject that might otherwise be very boring. His tests are hard. When discussing answers after with other students the general consensus is to write something on essays - some claimed just writing beer is fermented will help.

I took this class over the summer and received an A. Microprof is not for everyone, but he is the best in my opinion. You will do best to always answer something on his tests, as he gives a considerable amount of credit for putting forth an effort. Demanding class by nature, but you can get an A with hard work.

I have to say that it was an HONOR to be in Microprof's class.He is insanely intelligent.Sometimes I'd just sit there thinking how could someone know so much about such a hard subject.There was never a dull moment inhis class.He provides powerpoints and goes through every single one.If I didn't get an A it was because I didn't work hard enough.

I would have to say this class was my favorite by far! If you utilize the help available with the TA's you will walk out with an A! The first day he will tell you to get extra help from the learning center, follow his lead! Very interesting man overall, lots of dept!

Microprof is one of the best professors LCCC has to offer. He has clear knowledge and passion for the subject and still manages to put everything in terms that students can understand. USE THE TUTORS AND TA'S!!! They can help guide you to a better grade,. They understand the concepts inside and out and help with the given material.

Best teacher I ever had.If only LCCC had more professors like him. Got me interested in things and have 4ever changed my views on life. He speaks with passion & gets students excited about class. He makes hard material understandable, and theories interesting. He gives examples that have to do with everyday life. He is funny 2. Time goes by fast.

Entertaining and nice professor. He cracks a lot of jokes and gets off topic sometimes, but it keeps the class interesting. Some extra credit points are possible when reviewing tests handed back. Tests themselves are challenging, though. You can't just memorize, you must understand the material. Lab is important for grade. Textbook isn't needed.

He is an awesome teacher. Puts his test in the tutoring center! so just go to that are you will get a good grade!

Truly one of the best professors I've ever had. It wasn't just memorizing words of the material, he explained how it was all relevant in real life. All of the material was so interesting, and his stories complemented the material most the time. Coming out of the class I find myself much more curious about the subject. You do have to apply yourself.

Like many others, there aren't enough good things to say about a microbiology class with the microprof. He is cheerful, and challenging, and really has a passion for his work. He wants his students to learn the concepts, and understand them... be able to apply them and really get something out of both the lecture and the lab. take his class!!

I won't say that the Microprof is for everyone, but I will say that he is an awesome teacher. He is always willing to take time and help as long as you ask :-) He has made me truly interested in the study of microbiology

Dr. Kessler is the best! His passion for Microbiology is infectious. Sometimes he has the tendency to go a little fast, so if you can't keep up make sure that you can access the lectures on iTunesU, which are extremely helpful when studying. He grades very fair and truly wants to see his students achieve! I want to take more of his classes!!

Intelligent instructor, very approachable and understanding, a bit confusing in lecture, pay attention to the stories/examples he uses in class, kind of confusing the rest of the time, attendance not mandatory, uses podcasts which does help a bit, very entertaining class.

Dr. Kestler is by far one of the best teachers here. He is very intelligent and will try his best to help you learn. If you have some background in biology and you pay attention, then the tests are easy. The magic pen appears and give you a few points if you deserve it. Take every class he offers, you won't regret it. He has a great sense of humor.

For those of you who believe Dr. Kestlers tests are too hard, you aren't studying enough. Tutoring for this class is free and there are very few people who utilize it. He is an absolutely amazing professor. I'd take him again in a heartbeat. If you are not able to pass his class, please don't consider being in the medical field!

The Microprof is awesome! He's hilarious and very intelligent. During lectures he will go off into stories, PAY ATTENTION TO THESE! A lot of his points are in his stories. Take notes off his lectures and study and you will be fine. Awesome professor.

Loved this guy!! His lectures are interesting and you won't dread sitting though them. He will go above and beyond to help students who are genuinely interested in his class. There are extra credit questions available on exams. He gives a study guide and reviews it in class.

He is funny and is willing to answer any questions you have. But if you send him emails don't expect him to answer.

His lectures are very ADD-oriented, so it takes awhile to get used to, particularly if you are a very organized thinker. It is a challenge in the beginning to get used to, but stick with it, as you'll get used to it and learn without even realizing it. The practice exams that are available to look at are one of the keys to doing well. He's great

Microprof, as Dr Kestler is known, is hands down the best instructor that I have ever had. His lectures are informative, stimulating, and wildly funny. The course material is daunting, so be prepared to work. However, it is absolutely worthwhile taking with Dr. Kestler. He is brilliant and engaging. Two thumbs up!

Instructor makes lectures interesting and funny, which is always a plus. However the class is taught more at an advanced level instead of going over the basics first and the instructor who is very intelligent sometimes skips around, which can be hard for organized people. He does however give extra credit points and really wants everyone to pass.

Microprof is one of the better teachers out there. Overall the class was informative and interesting. You really learn a lot through his lectures. The tests are comical and serious. You will need to study for this course, wash your hands, and quit smoking. The Man, The Myth, The Microprof..

Can be a little scattered but he gives you a lot of opportunities for tutoring and plenty of extra credit. Utilizes canvas and posts the lectures and the slides. Would take more of his classes. Funny guy who knows what he is talking about.

I feel like Lorain county community college is do lucky to have this guy there. He teaches slot. But keeps the students attention and very fun. If I had to take more biology classes I would definitely take this teacher. Tests are hard but if you listen to the lectures and read his power points you'll do great.

Dr. kestler was an awesome Micro professor. He truly has passion for what he does and cares about his students. You have to study! But your grade will reflect the work you put in.

Hilarious man but not an easy professor. I passed his course with an A by going to his study groups before exams, meeting with our class tutor before exams, and most importantly, STUDYING HIS EXAMS IN THE TUTORING CENTER. Cannot stress that enough. Easy points in lab if you do the work. Good luck and dont buy the book!

Dr. Kestler is hands down the best professor I've had here. He is passionate about what he does, and cares about his students. He is absolutely hilarious, and makes class fun. The class is not easy, but if you take the time to study then you shouldn't have any problems. Be sure to attend review sessions, and get help from the TA's!

It was a privilege to be able to take his class and see him in action. He makes learning micro completely obtainable. You will have to study and work for it but he makes it fun.

Highly recommend taking microbiology lecture and lab with Dr. Kestler; he made it fun and I learned so much in both lab and lecture. Be ready to put in effort the class material isn't easy, lots of hands on activity in lab. He gives a lot of opportunity to make up points on tests. One of the best teachers LC has to offer.

Dr. Kestler is a good teacher and tries his best to make it easier for you to get a good grade. He is always offering opportunities to get some extra points. However, he is a bit unorganized and easy to misunderstand. His exams are very hard if you dont go to the reviews.

Seriously the best person in the world. Took his micro class then I TA'd for him for 2 semesters and he's a wonderful person with a great sense of humor. He genuinely wants his students to learn from the class. Definitely knows what he's talking about and is always available to help outside of class. I want to be like him when I'm older!

Dr. Kestler is the best professor I have had yet. He provides you with all of the necessary information to do well, and it is your job to understand how to apply it. His stories, or tangents, people complain about are incredibly important because they apply the concepts he is teaching. I got an A without attending or listening to one review.

I was scared to take his class, bc the reviews said hes all over the place. This is true, but he gives u the resources u need. Listen to exam reviews & read between the lines on the tests bc they are tough. Lab & magic pen will save u. Hes a great teacher & person. It was a pleasure learning from him & laughing with him. Dr Kestler's Micro class is difficult but he provides every opportunity to pass his class including posting his lectures and study sessions on MyCampus. There are many different times to go to a tutoring sessions. Many study guides for tests included as well. I did not use the lecture book but the lab book is definitely needed. Study & Pass!

Dr. Kestler super funny, but a bit confusing. This will not be a class where he'll tell you exactly what to study. You'll need to figure it out yourself. Don't cram, go to his tutoring sessions, use practice exams, take lab seriously, ask TA's for help, study and rewrite notes, use the book and google on hard subjects, take advantage of magic pen.

Dr. Kestler is a wonderful teacher, just not when it comes to lectures. Some people can really learn from them but he goes very fast and some things are not always made clear. But nonetheless, he was an amazing teacher and made a really hard course seem not nearly as hard. He gives extra credit and does review sessions as well as office hours.

Lots of extra credit opportunities with magic pen, make sure you're at lecture the day you get your tests back!! Hard tests, but if you pay attention and do the study guides you'll be fine. Every now and then he talks super scientific and you get lost but you'll be fine. Super funny, he's the best!

Prof Kessler was very passionate about microbiology. Tests are hard, but if you go to tutoring you should do pretty good. I went to tutoring with the SI. He makes lectures fun. Gives extra credit after every exam. Overall I really enjoyed his class and the material I learned.

The class is hard but Kestlee makes the lectures entertaining and interesting. He does post all lectures online but I still wouldnt recommend skipping bc its hard to follow along with the powerpoints when youre not there. He gets off topic ALOT. His review sessions are extremely helpful for being successful on exams.

I really enjoyed microbiology with Dr. Kestler. He is so very passionate about microbiology and hilarious. I really liked having Dr kestler as a professor, lecture was great and the tests were easy. He's super passionate about micro and really knows what he is talking about. My only complaint is how lab was set up and a bit unorganized, other than that overall Im happy with how this semester went!

Doctor Kestler really knows what he is talking about and has done some amazing work throughout his career. My mom took his class ten years ago and he did not disappoint. He explains this difficult topic with funny stories and going into depth in reviews as well. Exams are biweekly, w/ lots of reviews in between, and hard but not impossible.

You will not use the book once. All info comes from his lectures. Off on tangent quite a bit. Sometimes will not get back to you in time. He is a busy professor and very respected. Extremely knowledgeable in his field.

Very knowledgeable professor and very likable. Lecture videos are long but can be enjoyable because hes a funny guy. Not a tough grader on tests, just make sure you know your stuff and pay attention to what he says. Most info is not on the powerpoints. Does study groups throughout the week. Doesnt use the textbook.
