Dr. Mokeba is a fantastic prof. I have never met anyone more knowledgeable, yet more humble, than "Harry." He gave me tremendous help on a section of my dissertation back in the mid-1990s. He goes out of his way to help and takes a genuine inter
Mokeba was great - fair, interesting, and a good professor. Wish I could have taken more classes with him.
Harry is awesome! He is so funny, gives take home tests, goes over the test before and practically gives you the questions. I took him for every poli sci class I could. He's very helpful, helped me get into grad school. LOVE HIM!!
I spent a summer in Dr. Mokeba's 4043, and let me tell you - it absolutely rocked. He is a great professor, and makes sure that you know the material - he goes over the questions on the tests before the tests, and is very fair - even if he doesn't agree with you. He went out of his way to give me a test after I got stuck in NH due to a hurricane.
Told me "you have a C. at least it is not a F. be happy. why do you care about your grade?" I tried very hard and ended up 1 point from an A. I will never take his class again.
Nice guy!!!
The class I took with him was over NGOs. He is an awful teacher. He read from the textbook half of the time, and the other half, he harangued the students about what I don’t know, and with no idea of where he was headed or what he was talking about. He has a chip on his shoulder. DO NOT TAKE THIS JOKER!
there are easier teachers to take, and he is hard to follow as far as note taking goes. also, his grading appears abritrary.
He is easy. his first test is take-home, as well as the final. the midterm is in class but he gives the questions a week before. he also gives the answers to each question on the test in class so all you really have to do is elaborate on the answer that he has given. Funny guy!
Genuine and brilliant man. Interesting lectures, but he can be a little hard to follow at times. The take hom final kicked my butt!
I LOVE MOKEBA! I took him for every poli class I could. You will write alot in class, but the tests are easy b/c they come straight from the notes. Basically, all you have to do is memorize your notes and then spit them back out on the test. He is very funny, likes to pick with students though, so if you can't handle that, then don't take him.
I took Dr. Mokeba's class over 10 years ago! He is so amazing! Your eyes will be opened, although we did not have the Internet back then. He is the reason that I understand global politics as well as I do, the reason I decided to subscribe to Foreign Affairs and other publications. Take him, you will work HARD, but gain so much more!!
One of the best political science Professors at LSU!!!
I'm not sure why everyone likes him so much. I really love Poli Sci, but I hated his class. His grading system was entirely arbitrary, he was practically impossible to understand, and I don't think he actually appreciated substance, just length. Try as I might, I just couldn't get an A in his class.
Go LSU, I'm glad Mokeba is stillt here, I took his class 10 yrs ago and he's a very open minded guy who sees reality very clearly
Mokeba is a great prof, and a real character. I've taken one of his classes for the past 4 semesters. Get used to the accent though.
Nice man but probably the worst POLI SCI professor at LSU. He could care less about what you write, he only cares about length. His grading scale is absolutely ridiculous. If you enjoy making good grades do not take his class.
The best teacher at LSU. Anyone who is obsessed with grades will always rag on his grading scale, especially if you don't get that precious A. Having said that, I have gotten A's in all his classes because of working hard. Mokeba is an asset to LSU and is one of the highlights of my college career.
Excellent teacher! Hard to understand sometimes but he is very helpful if you go see him during office hours.
My fave Poli Sci teacher. Taken 3 of his classes, and signed up for 2 more. He's awesome. Def go to class, but he makes it interesting. You really haven't experienced LSU unless you've taken a Mokeba class.
What impressed me the most about Dr. Mokeba is how he remembers his students. I was a typical do my work and sit in the back of class yet he still remembered me based on my work. To this day he is one of my favorite teachers ever. Plus he teaches Poli Sci from a historical standpoint, not a sociological standpoint.
Nice man, WORST POLI PROFESSOR. Grades based on quantity not quality and grades based on a bell curve for a quota so it's nearly impossible to even earn your A.
super nice. easy class. Lots of essay questions. Make sure you write as much as you possibly can for all of your essays. If you're unsure if they're long enough add another page or two just to be safe.
If you like organization, DO NOT TAKE MOKEBA! He is all over the place with his lectures. I have a C in his class now, and I credit that grade to my prior knowledge of this material. I would NEVER recommend Mokeba to anyone.
I really like Dr. Mokeba. He is extremely knowledgeable and exciting. If you have any questions, he is super helpful. His only downside is he's all over the place in lecture and has a think Cameroonian accent. Highly recommended though.
Professor Mokeba is an amazing instructor. Its not going to be easy but he is extremely intelligent and it is worth the effort just to hear what he has to say. I have taken all the classes he has to offer and never received less than a B, and I am no genius. Do your brain a favor and take his class, just be ready to put in some hours of research!
Harry Mokeba is by far the most intellectually stimulating professor that I have encountered over my three years of study in multiple degree paths at LSU. Go to his office hours and go to class you'll do well. Rewarding class from a unique perspective with fair grading. LSU got a gem in this professor, seriously. Take him. You'll learn so much.
I love Dr. Mokeba! His lectures are long but very interesting. However, you need to be able to write A LOT to pass this class. He's a quantity quality kinda guy. I wrote 20 pages for my 1st take home and got a 100. Also, Don't buy the text book!
Feedback was poor and the grading system was unclear His lectures, while interesting, leave you feeling confused as he scribbles illegible notes all over the board. You have to go to class not just for participation grade, but to know anything about assignments or tests as he doesn't use Moodle. Take him if you are ready to pay attention for 3 hrs
He's a nice guy and he tries to make the class interesting. However, his notes are all over the place. You definitely have to go to class because he doesn't use the book at all. Overall he wasn't bad as long as you pay attention and take notes.
He is a very current and always applying current events to class. He is helpful, but you need to go to his office for clarification often.
Mokeba is an awesome professor. I work full time and go to class at night and he is always willing to work with me and my schedule. He never keeps you the entire time and is a pretty funny guy. Make sure to participate. He definitely makes you work for an A, but pretty easy to get at least a passing grade bc he adjusts his grading scale.
What a joke of a professor. His speech is 50% regurgitated notes and 50% mindless babble and the notes he scribbles on the board are incomprehensible. There is no grading scale because he refuses to use moodle; essentially, there is no way to know what grade you have or even what grade you make on assignments/assessments. Worst teacher ever.
Only take his class if you are prepared to write and pay attention for three hours. He has a great personality, and is understanding but his notes are all over the place. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK, you won't use it for anything. Be prepared to write a lot.
Do not take this class. He is impossible to understand. His notes are literally lines across a board with some illegible words scribbled here and there. He expects a lot and provides very little in the way of guidance. He doesn't use moodle (that is, he doesn't even have a course page), and you will never know your grade. He's funny, though.
Great guy from Africa (accent included). Good teacher, just a lot of work & writing. Grades are: research paper, midterm & final, and a FEW participation points. All are essay. This is where I learned that political science is not for me, but some people loved it. Participation points are important, but you have to know what you're talking about.
Mokeba is one of the best teachers in the political science department. I took Professor Mokeba for several classes - my favorite being African Government & Politics. He really cares about his students AND the material that he teaches.
The exams are not extremely difficult, if you study the lectures and what he suggests you cover ahead of time, you'll definitely pass the class. Took this for a credit I needed for HSS, really liked the class and the atmosphere. Mokeba has a slight african accent but it's not like you can't understand what he's saying. Definitely recommend!
His handwriting is difficult to make out sometimes, but he lets you know what he wants from you for essays and exams. Very personable and easy to get ahold of during his office hours. He is very specific in grading, but if you pay attention to what he says he wants, you'll do fine.
I'm taking him for 2057 and 4042. Essay exams with a presentation. He writes on the board and speaks extremely fast with an African accent that is hard to keep up with. Doesn't seem to grade with a rubric--just whatever he feels. Once you learn what he wants it gets easier.
Well, you might be lucky and be on the good side of his whims and make an easy A because he feels like giving you one. Or you might be like the rest of the class and barely get a B-. Your call. Asked what I could have done better and how I could improve and he literally said, "hate to say it, but it's all a game." He's nice and likable, but c'mon.
Dr. Mokeba is.. interesting. He is definitely very knowledgable and knows what he is talking about! However, his notes are impossible to understand. He literally writes on top of words that are already on the board. Make sure you go to class and really pay attention. His extra help sessions are great too. He's funny, in an odd sort of way.
Dr. Mokeba does not have good presentation, based on his terrible ability to present what he's saying on the white board, but he is a must for political science. He will guarantee you know something about the subject, and he is insanely cultured. Talking to him is like visiting another country. If you go to his office hours, you will get an A.
He is absolutely hilarious! Loves to joke around the students and very passionate about the class. There are not many grades in the class but he gives you the answers to the midterm and final. The other test is take home but he grades that harshly.
He really changed the game for me. Being a PoliSci major I was unsure at first, but Mokeba solidified my love for politics. He's literally hilarious and gives you an immense amount of freedom on essays. He's incredibly helpful and gives great feedback!
He's a bit hard to understand, but just actively listen and take notes and you should be fine. The tests are easy because he pretty much tells you what's on them, but be sure to put as much info in your answers as possible. Go to his office for participation points. The final is long, but easy because you know what's on it. DON'T SKIP CLASS.
Relatively easy class, not many assignments, but you really have to pay attention to his lecture and take notes. His accent is very hard to understand (in my opinion) and he makes it worse by speaking extremely fast. Not a class that's an easy A.
I took Dr. Mokeba four different times for four different classes! Love his classes. Even though his class requires a lot of writing its very easy if you take good notes. The more you write on your exams and essays the better your grade. Show him that you care and you'll do fine in his class.
He is an amazing teacher. He's accent is very heavy but just listen and ask questions and you"ll be fine. Plus if you have a hard time go to his office hours. NO TEXTBOOK!! All you need is you, active listening and notes. But look up he writes all over the place. And speak fast. He doesn't use Moodle :(. its worth it I'm taking him again.
I really enjoyed Mokeba but he is definitely not for everyone. He's very vague in his expectations and often changes his syllabus. He also refuses to use technology and uses a chalkboard for all his class notes, which can be difficult to read. If you speak with him outside of class, he will not only help you but also respect you as a student.
Dr. Mokeba is a staple in the Political Science Department at LSU. You need him on your side. He will never give you the answer but help you interpret understanding. He's flexible and very knowledgeable about Politics but, has a thick accent and grades papers with little feedback. Truly cares about students and helps you to grow as a person.
I love Mokeba. He loved to relate to the students and show that he does want you to succeed. I legit just take classes that I know he is teaching. I love him and because I am Israeli he always seemed interested to talk to me, which I love. He cares, he is amazing, and no other professor can even compare to this amazing man.
Literally the easiest class ever
Mokeba is really funny and very enthusiastic in his lectures so the class is really enjoyable. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend not missing class because he says things he is specifically looking for on tests (not many and not hard, graded tough). He doesnt have a moodle page which kinda sucks but he is a really good professor.
Although Dr. Mokeba lectures similarly to other professors, he is unconventional in approaching topics. He likes interaction and won't just give you the answers. He'll make you answer them which is a more effective way of remembering what you learn. He wants you to succeed and acknowledges an active student when he has one.
Dr. Mokeba is one of the most unique professors that I have encountered. He is absolutely hilarious, interesting, and knowledgeable. Nevertheless, if you show up to class and participate, you will do fine. While his lectures are often unorganized, he compensates by telling you what will be on the test. Overall, he is a great professor.
I have taken 4 of Mokeba's politics classes. You have to put in work, but his classes aren't too hard. He does a good job of explaining the material and tells you what will be on the tests beforehand. You really benefit from going to his office hours. His personality is great! He is extremely funny, which makes classes interesting.
Mokeba was a great professor once you figure him out. His exams come directly from the articles he talks about in class so write absolutely everything down and read it on your own time. The more you write on the exams the better your grade will be. He would often give us an answer or two during exams and was flexible with due dates if you told him.
In the beginning, it was hard to understand Mokeba's lecture, but it gets better. Once you get used to his pace, his class is really easy. Midterm and final multiple-choice questions are based on the articles that he mentioned in his lectures. For the writing parts, he will give you the prompt in advance, so there's no reason to failed his class.
I have taken Dr. Mokeba twice and he is an amazing professor! I sign up to take his classes over and over again because he truly cares about his students and his classes are always so interesting. If you arent someone who learns well without visual aids this isnt the professor for you because he doesnt use technology whatsoever. Would recommend!
Mokeba is a very hard professor. I went to class every day, very hard to understand
I've taken Dr. Mokeba 5 times. Enough said!
Was my hardest class for the semester. Very cool dude who cares knows his stuff but he's a person you have to get used to over time. His tests are essay based and are from the notes given in class that are hard to take because he goes off in tangents and writes scribbles on the board. Barley made an A . His teaching and class style is not my type
Such a cool dude who really cares about politics and the world. My class was 3hrs but he never made us stay the whole time. The class is hard and definitely not one you can play around in, put if you put in the work you'll be fine. I made an A+ in the class because I did well on his exams and got B+ on his papers. Loved this course !
Love Dr. Mokeba! This is my second time with him and received A for both classes!
If you have any interest whatsoever in foreign diplomacy and international relations then this class will be extremely easy. Not only easy, but really interesting and Mokeba is the funnest man on campus. He doesn't use Moodle , you do not need the book in all reality, and he has an unusual grading system. Easy tests, unusual final exam though.
People may find him hard to understand because of his accent but it grows, and he truly is so caring and doesn't want anyone to do bad. He is CLEAR on what will be on test and midterms and truly you just need to listen. He doesn't use moodle so it is important to go to class so you have notes and can be in the loop. Funny and wants us to do well.
This is one of the first times I have ever experienced this so it might not be an issue to you, but he has a heavy African accent which made him hard to understand. Most of his lectures are just him rambling on about some current affairs while everyone just drifts off.
I cannot stress this enough, get on his good side or do not take his class at all. His grading system is not a system, it is just him deciding if he likes you and slapping a number on the paper that only he understands. You will not know what your grade is because he does not create a moodle page.
People gripe about his accent, but it grows on you. He is super funny and really cares about his students as long as you are making an effort as well. By no means is this an easy A class, you DO have to put in the work, but the work is not difficult as long as you go to class. He is very specific about what to expect on the exams.
Doctor Mokeba is a really nice professor. The class itself is pretty straightforward. We were virtual for this class due to the Pandemic. He took random attendance and often called on people to discuss. 3 writing assignment, 1 midterm, 1 research paper, and the final was also a writing assignment. He speaks fast but will repeat if you need.
Prof Mokeba's class was my favorite this semester. He gave us a midterm, research paper, and a final exam. The midterm was multiple choice and essay, and the final was strictly essay questions. Mokeba is passionate about international relations and seems to genuinely enjoy teaching. His energy is contagious, and he seems to care about his students!
Very eccentric. For this particular class, the aide posted lecture notes on Moodle making it very easy to have something to look back on. I personally used the aide's notes and just expanded them during lectures. However, class is graded with only 6 grades; it was mostly open book essay-type questions and one multiple-choice exam (closed book).
He truly cares about politics and political science. This is probably his first year teaching POLI1001, but it was so much fun!! He does grade extremely hard on his essays, but he will give you feedback and help if you email him before the due date! He's an amazing teacher, I worked hard for my A, and he knew it. I loved him, would take again!
He was difficult to understand and never made his rubrics clear for the several papers we had to write. He was condescending in class when students had questions or volunteered answered which may have been his humor but it did not come across well. I dreaded this class
He lectures for the majority of class. His African accent makes him a little hard to understand at first but you get used to it. He is really funny and passionate in class and does not grade hard at all. I took his Comparative Politics class and assignments are long papers on a choice of countries but there is a lot of time given to complete them.
I have taken every course Dr. Mokeba offers and I've only been at LSU for 1.5 years. There are a few essays and readings but he makes the class interesting and will do whatever to help you understand the material. Please take any course of his at LSU.
Mokeba has an accent, so just pay attention to context if you didn't catch something. He's pretty cutthroat in class as far as questions and participation go. Moodle is not a skill set he has, so don't expect to be able to reach him.
Mokeba is a good professor, and that makes his shortcomings even worse. He doesn't use Moodle gradebook; from ineptitude or stubbornness, who knows? So you won't know your total class grade until the last day of class. On top of that, there is absolutely no clarity to his grading method, and feedback is far and few between.
Mokeba is my favorite professor at LSU, guy is hilarious but also informative. Have taken him for 2053,2057 and 1001. If you do his essays to his page max you will get an A in the class and he will enjoy you as his student. guy is goated
Here's what you need to know. Show up to class and pray that he likes you so he'll call on you. Class participation is huge, but he only calls on the same people even if you raise your hand. No, moodle and doesn't reply to emails. He grades very subjectively, with no logic and 0 feedback. If he likes you, your golden, but if not. Good Luck!
Dr. Mokeba is one of my favorite professors at LSU. He makes the class interesting even if the material is rather boring. participation is 10% of your grade but honestly if you just show up youll get a decent grade. he gives clear guidelines for the papers, so if you follow that youll do fine.
Mokeba's grading system is super unclear, and his feedback is scant. He's also a technophobe so don't expect to see your grades on Moodle, he'll instead give you a sticky note with the breakdown on the last day of class. His teaching style is disjointed, and if you don't have a front row seat, good luck hearing him.
I highly respect Dr. Mokeba and he is a wonderful person. As a Professor, however, I was really disappointed in his teaching style. No rubrics, vague directions, and doesn't make himself accessible outside of class at all. He doesn't enter grades in Moodle and I didn't know what grade I made on the final. All I saw was the final grade he sent LSU.
I really like him as a person and hes really funny, but I did not like his teaching style. He was very unclear with his grading and homework. You also have to go to class because he is not very good with technology/zoom and you cannot understand him at all if you attend via zoom.
Dr. Mokeba always kept class fun and interesting which made me want to go to class. You absolutely have to go to every class because he does not email very much or use moodle. There are only a few assignments so your grade on everything matters.
Dr. Mokeba's teaching style seems erratic at first, but he is knowledgable and tries to present as many perspectives and insights as possible on the material. You need to read the international news each week to keep up with topics for class that you may be asked to write about. He will help you if you have any questions and wants you to succeed!
The class is based around the notes you take in class, which is hard to take due to his accent and also the random scribbling he does on the board. Very funny and interactive professor but is unclear on many grading criteria and technology (no moodle page). VERY difficult to consult him after class and ask follow up questions. Better options.
He doesn't use moodle, this makes it impossible to work or communicate with him. He only gives 3 assignments so it's a make it or break it class. It's a waste of time.
Don't email, go to office hours. He is very interesting and knows lots of stuff. He can be hard to follow sometimes because he's not very organized and his brain works fast. I loved him, but he is so ADHD. If you are the type of person who needs organization, he might drive you insane. Go to class and he'll tell you what's on the test and paper.
He is so precious! I truly enjoy going to his class. I recommend going to every class and taking notes. He makes it clear the correct answers he is looking for so the tests and papers, they are not bad at all. If you have questions go to his office during hours. He keeps my attention very well, but he scribbles on the board like a toddler.
He is a very nice and funny person, but I did not care for his learning style. He just writes on the white board and sometimes it felt as if I wasn't grasping the information I needed. He tells you exactly what will be on the tests, though, so you can adequately prepare. He only grades on the midterm, two papers, and the final.
Dr. Mokeba is very funny and interactive with the class. The only reason I gave him a 3 star is because I could not understand him. His accent is VERY thick. He also wrights on the white board and is handwriting is hard to read. The textbook that he said we needed for the course didn't help with what was being discussed in class or the tests.
Easily my fav class. He is a really good teacher & its clear that he wants his students to actually learn, not just memorize information. He's very funny and interactive with the class during lectures and will literally tell you what to write on tests to make a good grade. Def go to almost every class and take notes bc its a lot of information tho.
This class was easy enough to make a good grade. I just found it very difficult to follow along with the material. There are no powerpoints just jumbled notes on the board. Dr. Mokeba is passionate and very knowledgable about the material it's just hard to take notes and understand sometimes. This class just wasn't good for my learning style.
There's very few assignments and Dr. Mokeba is really entertaining. Read through the class notes because he goes a little fast sometimes. If you're taking the weekly class, don't worry, we were never there past 5 pm (3-6pm).
Professor Mokeba is a good professor, however his lectures are just usually all over the place, I have a book for his course just in case because I feel as if I'm going to need it, but he usually gives us the answers to the tests while in class, His accent is very thick as a warning and he likes to just scribble things on the board.
Professor Mokeba has a very thick accent and just scribbles on the board so you have to really pay attention to understand whats going on. There is no information at all on moodle because he is very old school so you just have to go to class and take notes and pay attention. He does give answers to tests though, he just barely makes any sense.
Professor Mokeba is an amazing professor! He's so sweet and gives extensions if needed, I would highly recommend his class to incoming first year students! He can be a bit whimsical and just scribble stuff on the board and has a very thick accent but overall he is very helpful in class!
Definitely take him if you can. His classes are so easy and he is a really easy grader. He does have a thick accent, but he posts all of his notes on moodle and will repeat himself a lot to make sure you understood him. He also tells you what the test questions are before the tests.
if you stuggle with understanding accents, don't take his class. But it will be the easiest you take. He makes you write in bluebooks in class for exam essays - but you can cheat super easy cause he gives you the prompt in advance. Show up, talk, and take half decent notes and you will get a good grade.
Professor Mokeba is the MAN. He is so funny and very smart. His lectures are very sporadic and he scribbles on the board, but overall I loved this class. Tests are simple and he is a lenient grader. 10/10 would recommend.
He is clearly passionate about what he does, and he tries to engage students. However, he did make the class harder than it needed to be. First, don't expect anything to be uploaded online, especially your grades. Second, he has a thick accent and bad handwriting. Attendance is taken, but it's taken randomly. He does not share grading rubrics.
I do not recommend this professor at all. He is the most disorganized professor I have ever met. I have never missed a class and I leave them confused every single day. He says rude, embarrassing things to his students; he purposefully embarrassed me in front of the class every single time. Honestly, I don't know how he has not been reported.
he slayed
Professor Mokeba has a thick accent and tends to have no outline for his lectures but that is the fun of his class. He is incredibly witty and is so passionate about what he teaches. If you attend class and put in the work for the research papers you will be fine. The tests are straightforward since he gives you the questions before.
Dr. Mokeba taught us a lot of information, but he's difficult to follow and a very tough grader. His lectures are disorganized and require your FULL attention in order to learn the material. Tests and assignments consist of a LOT of writing, and he grades them harshly. Overall, he takes a lot of adjusting to get used to, but he's alright.
Mokeba is the best. So funny and so smart. He slays fr. He gives you the answers and questions for every test before hand and he is a relatively easy grader. His monday class never goes all the way through, and he usually asks when we want to leave. I enjoyed his class a lot, and I highly recommend him. I am the worst with accents and his wasnt bad
Mokeba is very passionate about what he does, he's a great professor. He likes to joke often. He's a pretty lenient grader and doesnt take points for late work, just don't abuse it. You have to place very close attention during lectures and yes, he does scribble all over the board. Does not update moodle often. Gives questions for exams beforehand!
Firstly, Dr. Mokeba is very hard to understand, be aware. Secondly, I have a disability accommodation, he NEVER answered my emails about it nor my excused absence emails. When I had the death of a family member in class and left he emailed me, "Sorry I bored you." Truly, a horrific thing to say when not knowing why a student left class.
Harry Mokeba cares more about his fedora than he does his students. Email him and expect a response in 14 days, honestly, it might be easier to mail him a letter, USPS is more reliable than him. The syllabus means nothing. My entire grade came down to 3 things instead of 6. I should have an A+ instead of B+. Need to be frustrated, take this class!
He doesn't grade you on very much, and yes he's hard to understand. But, he posts all his lectures and the notes that go with them. Out of your 3 exams, 2 are take home. I barely went to class but he gave me a 80% participation grade. He's not difficult at all, if you put in little effort you'll at least get a B.
Dr. Mokeba was my favorite professor at LSU. I took the majority of his political science classes. I learned so much from him. He inspired me. I looked forward to his classes.
Very difficult to understand paired with terrible handwriting. Mokeba is a really nice guy, but this class was awful.
Professor Mokeba's class is a lively experience. With his thick accent and unstructured lectures, it requires engagement, but the exams are straightforward if you attend and take notes. unstuck AI proved helpful for effective study prep.
Professor Mokeba is probably the best poli sci instructor at LSU. Yes, he can be difficult to understand at times but he records all of his lectures and posts the entire semester's notes because he truly wants you to succeed. He's just old school so showing up to his office hours is better than emailing him.
Mokeba has TERRIBLE handwriting LOL. He teaches more verbally than he does with writing cohesively on the board so you really have to know how to follow along. However, he is SO sweet and accommodating. Has notes posted for the entire semester for you to follow along, and explains EXACTLY what to do to get an A on every assignment.
He's really a nice man. He loves making jokes and is very funny. Class isn't hard at all for a 4000 level. He provides written notes on Moodle. 10/10 tbh. He cool
he genuinely is funny and has easy tests and assignment. only once a week and he doesn't keep you for the full 3 hrs. super chill and easy to pass for sure.
Mokeba was definitely a character. I never attended classes, and he says that attendance matters, but he NEVER entered my grade. He only entered two grades for the whole semester. He did not enter midterm grades or final exam grades. On the bright side, he gives answers to the exams during the class before. I did not learn much in his class.
A lot of these reviews look at him as a person and not a professor. He is one of the nicer professors but he isn't a good professor. entered 2 grades the entire semester, doesn't respond to emails, and I have no idea what I made on the final as he didn't give it back to us. No way to accurately keep track of your grade which is a huge problem.
Nice guy but not that good a professor. Doesn't update moodle so no way to keep track of grades, no rubric and seems to be an arbitrary grader. Accent is very thick and he just scribbled random notes over the whiteboard. Buy the optional textbook as it will give more info than his lectures in my opinion.
Nice guy but that's about it. He's allergic to technology (doesn't update grades or respond to emails) so you won't know your grade in the class until the final. Lectures are difficult to understand as he yaps for half of the lecture and the other half gives disorganized information. Grades on a whim and doesn't give feedback. Wouldn't recommend
I'm convinced he doesn't fully read essays, he just skims and checks for length as he appears to have no grading rubric and doesn't give any feedback until the last day of class. Good luck trying to reach him by email and he doesn't update your grade in moodle. Wouldn't recommend. Odd sense of humor.
He's great! He encourages participation, but does not rely on it. He is a little bit difficult to understand sometimes with his accent and how fast he talks, but as long as you're paying attention you'll be fine. He gives you all the information needed for the exams and papers. Only bad thing is that he does not update Moodle regularly.
He doesn't say, but he keeps a record of attendance, and it goes into your final grade. There are only 5 total grades in the class. He is not a super hard grader, but you have to put in effort and make sure you have a big word count. He always ends class early. He is hard to understand, but you get used to it throughout the lectures.
Make sure to attend IN PERSON class (he doesnt count zoom). The midterm exam took years off my life. I went to office hours two or three times. If you go to office hours and he knows your name then you will get an A. He is pretty much just looking for word count on take-home assignments.
If you are a decent student who regularly attends class and takes notes you will be fine! Most students who didn't do well were the ones who went to class ONCE. His accent isn't that bad so don't listen to what other commenters are saying. It is always better to WRITE MORE than less. I believe he grades off of word count…
