Excellent professor. You learn so much. He is indeed very patient and helpful. Tests not too hard, and VERY FAIR when it comes to grading. Relly not hard to get a good grade.

My experience with Prof. Nagel was a good one. I found him to be extremely fair and very willing to help out students. His exams can be somewhat difficult, but all items were covered in the text or in his review.

I am an above average student and Harry Nagel is not near average in his explanation and clarity as a professor. He tries but his ego is so huge that he forgets students are here to learn because we are not yet aware. My suggestion is to take him with caution but avoid him at all cost.

HORRIBLE!does not teach,just asks mundane qustions about things he never went over and his tests have very specific questions that if you dont read text front to back you will miss. hw not hard,very easy hw but the test are bad. HE TEACHES NOTHING!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Class is not hard. Tests r impossible. Makes u do it without a comp. Mostly straight out of the book, which no 1 reads. However, it is extremely boring. He talks 2 u like u r retarded and makes u do stupid time consuiming projects. You do not learn in this class. u vegetate. If u r good with comp applictions then u should do fine.

Nagel is way too uppity...he puts you on the spot A LOT and doesn't let students volunteer, which drags class almost to a halt each time. The material was relevant, but he can make students feel stupid, which bothers me.

OK professor, lets you use a cheat sheet for tests, put the obscure stuff and shortcut keys from the text on it and you'll do fine. Gives extra credit or curves grades. Class was fun only b/c of the people in the class; otherwise he can make you feel uncomfortable, picks on students randomly. He's no Russakoff but not bad if you know Office well.

First of all, I have worked with computers all my life, and even run a computer consultation business in the summer, and I even think this guy is unreasonable. Asks you mundane questions for the test (default pixel width of cell in Excel... wtf????) Should have been a good class, but it really blew the big one. Take someone else.

This guy's pretty cool. Takes some getting used to. I had Rusakoff for DS 2333, but Nagel is much more thorough. Write down EVERYTHING he says cause I guarantee you that it will be on his exam. Calls on you so make sure u study. I caught up too late and ended up with a C+. Do not take this guy if you're looking for an easy time.

Horrible. The worst teacher i have encountered here at st. johns. for comp CIS he gave 3 tests. drops the lowest grade. that does not help cause his tests are impossible and include information that he doesnt even touch or review. Final is impossible and is worth like 30-40%. he gives h.w which is not that hard, however it isnt worth much at all.

He has a huge ego and his tests are impossible and mundane. Gives 3 exams and one final which are worth a lot and are impossible, and easy HWK which is worth next to nothing. His reviews for the exams have nothing to do with the material and are so far off topic / not relevant to everyday use that it is laughable. Avoid if you can.

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! im going to predict your future if you take this class you will think your going to ace the test because you know everything that he went over in class. test has 80 of things you never discussed. Like we would do things on excel using the mouse then on the test he's asking for shortcuts with the keyboard which we never did

I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. The tests are easy as long as you make cheat sheets using the textbook.Attendance is not mandatory, but he does like to call on everyone in class.

He was absent no exageration like 1/3 of the days then when finals came he puts everything on it even items he didnt teach b/c his boss probablly reads it. So to boost our grade cause its obvious everyones gonna fail he puts easy points questions on the test. actual example: what is a cheap form of internet that is slower than cable or dsl? dial up

the class moves at a slow pace, which i appreciate for a 3 hr night class. he likes to call on people, so you'd better listen to him once in a while. hw load is ok. test is easy if you put all the shortcuts, numbers(e.g.file names can be up to 64 characters)on the little piece of paper he allows you to bring. he's very into DETAILS on the test!

READ THE TEXTBOOK. It is big but it will get you a A on the test. He lets you have 2 sheets of notes for each class include the keyboard shortcut and crazy details that you wont remeber (e.g the width of a cell is 64 pixels) Bring laptop to class but follow along and do the hmwrk as he does it dont get distracted! Easy A if you work dont be lazy!

Dr. Nagel makes a habit of going through his stack of index cards and calling on people at random. Bring your laptop to class, and you'll basically have all your homework done. Exams are a toughy though. You basically need to copy down everything from the book on the 2-sided piece of paper he lets you bring.

Dr. Nagel... what to say. If you are an idiot he will treat you like an idiot. He will never remember your name. The class itself is very easy, test is HARD. The class average was an F, I got the only A and I think it was rediculous, completely irrelevant. Test is based on textbook, which you never touch in class.

All the tests are multiple choice and come straight from the text book. He lets you bring in a sheet of notes to each test. Just prepare the notes ahead of the test n you will do fine, he also drops lowest test Grade. Overall, not a good teacher but you can get an A easily!

Studied straight from the books and listened in class. Did his projects and did pretty well. Came to the test, and it was irrelevant to what I studied for. FYI, a pixel of a cell is 64 pixels.

Honestly he can be intimidating at first. But he ends up not being that difficult. He lets you have a cheat sheet and reviews before exams and he practily will do the projects for you. Also the final is a combantion of all three tests in the semester if you write down what you got wrong and put it on your sheet you will get an A. I would take him.

Honestly, he isn't as bad as everyone says he is. You get what you put in. If you pay attention in class, you will be fine because he literally does the work for you. Follow along with your laptop and your hw will be done. For tests, he lets you use a cheat sheet and drops your lowest test grade. If you put in nothing, it will reflect on your grade

He is not a bad professor. He does the homeworks with you during class and follow along and DO NOT GET DISTRACTED. The tests are decent, most people failed the tests, I actually got one of a few A's in my class. The tests are based on the textbooks so that is the only thing that they are useful for.

Terrifying professor. Took him for Stat 1 &Stat 2 because he was the only option open and he expects you to know all the material before hand. I learned more off the internet than in his class. He also gives you 0 on a test question even if you got the question right if you don't show work (even most simplistic ones).

Here's an honest review. To all the people who think his class are easy, they have taken some form of stats in the past. If you have never taken it this class is a nightmare. Alot of the examples he has on the board are hard to read, or wrong. He does not teach and when he does it is over complicated way. Do not take him at all, horrible.

This class is NOT an easy A. But if you REALLY pay attention in class and ask questions AFTER class you'll be fine. He really cares about his students. Its hard to see that during class but meeting with him during his office hours makes a difference. He is honestly a sweetheart with a tough exterior. (dedicate @ least 1-2 hrs for hw)

you just do either excel or access things with him. no homework because you do it together in class and then you just hand it in next class. 2 tests and none are cumulative, pretty easy

Professor Nagel is the best statistics teacher I have ever had! I have never had such an unbelievable teacher in my entire life. He clearly explains everything there is to know about the subject and gives easy tests. I was always afraid of statistics, but after this class I think that this is what I will major in. Dr. Nagel gave me an A because he saw that I tried in his class. If you prepare in advance for his tests and not wait until the last second to study, you will do well. In addition, he also lets you bring a cheat sheet, but other than that, he does not allow any form of cheating at all. If I could, I would take him again for any other math class.

Nagel is a good professor who likes his students to participate in class. There is a homework due each week (which you pretty much do in class), a midterm, and a final. You are allowed to use a cheat sheet for both the midterm and final. Not too hard if you pay attention.

I took Nagel's hybrid class. we met once a week and he showed us how to do the assignments in class and then we would hand it in next week. He showed us how to use Access and Excel, but he did not prepare us for the midterm and final. The tests are based on the textbook and he allows you to have a cheat sheet. Fair class. Make sure you read text.

The midterm and final are based on the textbooks and as long as you read them and take good notes, you're good to go. He's a really nice guy and will help you after class if you need any. Homework is done in class and we just print it out to hand in the next time we meet. Fair class, just do the readings.

Do not take this professor! He is the most lecture heavy professor I have ever taken. First off, make sure you have a pc, and the hw is done in class and done very quickly. If you have have no experience in excel, this is not the place to start. Those that have experience might do well, but he is quite cold and distant with his students. Good luck

Online class centers around MyStatLab, an online program to do homework and take tests. Lectures consists of him going through doing the hw questions so students can learn the process how to answer. The tests are the same questions from hw with changed numbers, they are straight-forward with multiple attempts. One linear regression project.

Overall, He's average for a math professor. If things are not done his way, it's a big problem. I made carless mistakes for the project and he took off so many points because it wasn't his way. He uses pearson which is an online test and homework website and 1 project for the semester.

This professor purely goes through homework on Pearson for each class. He doesn't actually teach the concept just goes through each question. Its hard to follow if these come to be new topics learned. I feel like I had to teach myself on Pearson because I learned nothing in each class. Would not recommend. Get a teacher that will actually teach.

I don't know how he is being paid to be a professor because all he does is assigns homework on Pearson, gives one project that if you don't do it exactly his way, you will fail the project, and honestly fail the course too. Doesn't teach the class and doesn't care for his students as it is not normal to learn math through homeworks on Pearson.

If you're fine with teaching yourself, the class isn't bad, certainly better than alternate professors. Tests are just the homework but with the numbers changed, nothing hard. You probably won't retain the information this way, but beats failing. Project isn't hard either, just follow the examples he posts from previous years.

20% HW, 50% exams (3-4), & 30% project. HW is due in May. Do not leave your HW for last minute! Do it weekly. To pass with an A: when he opens Pearson & does the steps in class, have your Pearson HW open as well & do it along with him. For each question write the steps in a notebook & relay back to it on the exam. I did this & passed with a 98%.

He is a nice guy but his class is so boring. He is very old and often gets lost during lectures. He bases his whole class on Pearson which you have to pay over $100 for. I'd avoid him if possible but not the worst.

Took his online course. Graded on 3/4 quizzes. There are a few homework assignments he goes over in class. Also one term project. I failed the first test so show up to class. I ended up boosting my grade by writing out the homework problems and learning how to do them. He doesn't really go in-depth with teaching the homework problems.

Most boring online class I've ever taken. The entire semester was just going over Pearson HW which would take the entire class just to finish one HW assignment. Expects you to know how to solve things on your own, gets mad when students don't understand how to do something. Tests are homework problems with different numbers. Didn't learn at all.

He was an ok teacher. 4 exams all on Pearson. And a project for regression statistics. The only thing we did through the lectures was go over the homework questions. He does not RESPOND TO EMAILS at all. So if you have any questions ask him in class. I would only take his class if no one else was available and you don't want to go in person

This man is over 60 and still single for a reason. After overhearing his odd egg convo during an exam, I realized his only joy is telling students they're wrong. The course isn't hard, but he's rude, sexist, and bitter. If you're a woman and miss a question, good luck! Speaking from experience. His outdated attitude is just sad and frustrating.
