Very well qualified/knowledgeable. Fair grading, and will boost you for good attendance/participation. Generally helpful, but lectures can be a bit boring/confusing and he doesn't always answer questions in a straightforward way. Hard tests.

Very knowledgable teacher, and very interesting class. Read two chapters twice and test every week. Lectures are long but interesting. He's straight foward about grading and it will do you good to go to every class and pay attention.

Mr Saterfield is a fair instructor. Your will learn a great deal. His tests are related to the readings. You need to be commited. Do not take more than 10 units for the qtr, requires lots of reading (18 Chapts). Don't fall behind/

Tough class. He knows his material well, but sometimes seems to expect his students to know it just as well. Weekly exams, mid-term, and final are very hard. His lectures tend to make no sense; he goes off on unrelated tangents. Attendance helps grade!

Do the reading! You have tests once a week and they are hard! Its is not an easy class and it is sometimes hard to follow his lectures and take notes.

He was by far the best teacher I'd ever had in any subject. He's very knowledgeable in his field and is eager to answer questions. Very organized, straightforward, and interesting course. I would definitely recommend you take it.

*Yawn* It's hard to stay awake in his class with his monotonous voice. Tests every friday, which for the most part were hard. To pass this class: don't go to the class; just read the book and if u understand the book, ur guaranteed to pass the exams.

He's intimidating but it's just a facade. He gets irritated easily. Difficult tests every Friday. You're better off reading the book than going to his boring class. He has his funny moments. Taught at Stanford..he knows his stuff.

If you are looking to get an A do not take this class!! Very hard, but you learn a lot. Only problem is there is a lot of reading. Wouldn't reccomend if you are taking more tahn ten units.

Very kind and patient. Speaks in a monotone, but does his best to engage the students. If you read and put effort into paying attention, you'll come away with a lot--fair but not easy. Lectures around the book--DO THE READING BEFORE LECTURE!!

Was not a very active teacher online. Aside from comments and grading I didn't feel like there was much teaching going on. The assignments were mostly reading. Not an easy A but no final. Not very encouraging. Good text though.

The Key to Starfield is doing his online classes. Psych 4 (televised) a while ago, all the tests were take home, Psych 14, no test, just a page or two comment on a question weekly. But from what I hear in class he can be tough and demanding.

This man gives incomplete lectures and unrealistice reading assignments. He asks very detailed and tricky questions on his exams. His lectures are a waste of an hour. Skip class and spend the time reading the book. He's also late for class every day.

This class is not worth the effort. He is not totally upfront with what the course requires. Getting an A is almost impossible and he grades based on the memorization of the book and not real knowledge. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS.

I think Mr. Satterfield really means well deep down inside. A "good" man to say the least. Not a good teacher at all though. I think he is so above "us"(students) that he can't even relate to us. My ADVICE find another teacher....

It seems to me that most people responding to this prof. are simply crying about have to put in a little work... welcome to college. If u do what u should do and actually oh, I don't know... maybe try, he's a fair prof. Ofcourse if you're lazy in his class he's going to fail u, what did u expect?

The work is very hard, community college or not, this is college level psychology. Psychology is intensive on vocabulary anyway (medical terms, theories), so that's to be expected. He was very flexible with our class. He does have a monotonous tone, but he is very very well versed in psychology.

This class is hard, but again, this is college! His lectures were not helpful, even confusing at times. If you have an interest in psyc they are not boring. He gives weekly tests over two chapters. I am an average reader and it took me four hours per chapter, so expect to read if you want to pass.

You will learn something in this class. There are tests every week for 6 weeks, an autobiography and then a final. The tests are very hard and require you to read the two weekly chapters at least twice to do well on the tests. If psyc is your major, take Saterfield, otherwise don't.

I don't know about his class on campus, although I attended one class and it seemed very informative. Take his online class if you would like a quick "A", very easy. His class online is reduced to 7 assignments, instead of daily test and a presented project in class.

This is a MAJOR science class. You need to memorize TONS of information. The study guide is HIGHLY recommended. Yes, he has a very monotonous voice, but lectures are really interesting for curious people. He answers questions succinctly. Weekly tests are HARD but fair. He's a little bit lazy sometimes.

Saterfield is an intelligent teacher that teaches on a different level. So, if you are not interested in the class or in learning something you will not enjoy his class or find him "monotone". Engage yourself people... His tests are not difficult.

I took the online class. Prof. Saterfield is very clear and concise in his instructions. Any student in his class has to be very self-motivated-learning is on your shoulders-as it should be. If you work hard and apply yourself, you'll earn an A. He's there when you need him and not a heavy workload.

dr. saterfield is by far my favorite teacher at foothill. his lectures are fun, the material is fascinating and if you study, the tests are easy. he is always available to discuss an unclear theory or around just to chat. he is extremely intelligent, funny and a wonderful person. my friends who are not psych majors enjoyed him as well.

If you insist on wasting your time in a psychology class, you could do worse than Saterfield. 1 important flaw: he absolutely, completely, totally will NEVER admit that he is or was wrong. Of course, in modern psychology, no one ever is wrong...

This professor is flat out, unbelievably boring. I went into the subject interested, and could not have been more disappointed. Monotone delivery, poor visual aides, lack of focus, constant repitition of non-relevant things... Terrible classroom experience.

I came into the Dr. Saterfields class greatly interested in Psychology, I left his class bored. I did not learning anything from his lectures.You are better off reading the textbook rather than attending his class. You will probably learn more. In closing, Dr. Saterfield has a talent for making even the most interesting subjects totally boring.

Dr. Saterfield is without a doubt the most boring teacher I have ever taken a psychology class from. He is boring, unclear, unhelpful and in general useless as a teacher. In other words, if you have any intention of learning anything about psychology for your own personal growth, do not take his class. by the way, his tests are extremely difficult.

I thought this class was going to be fantastic. I never thought I could find a teacher who would make this subject boring. BOY was I wrong. He is monotone, his lectures are identical, the way he tests is awful (there are almost always several answers that are correct) and heaven forbit you ever contradict anything he says. He is NEVER wrong.

Yes, he's sort of monotone, but he does find it a little difficult to admit that he sometimes may be wrong, but he has a TON of experience in the field, so he really does know his stuff. Also, if he can tell that you are trying and you go to class, he'll do his best to help you out. Overall, I liked him :]

be prepared to do a lot of independant study and text book reading because he does not really know who to lead an organized lecture. He's really smart and experienced on the subject but he needs to work on his teaching skills.

It was one of the worst experiences of my life. He is unclear and does not give any grace for anything. Normally I love on-line classes and thought this would be fun, but the tests are insane. 50 questions with only a 1 hour limit. Do not go there you will not come out alive. Awful, awful, awful,..aa total jerk when you communicate with him.

His class is awful and his instruction is unclear. Furthermore, our class does not have very warm discussion forum. Of course, his class is bore. His teaching does not have too much material, and his exam makes you to feel suck within 60 minutes.

Nice guy.Attend class,take your test results to him, ask question on the ones you missed. I got a C+ from points and got it moved to a B- simply because of my participation and attendance he said. Not easy A! I was frustrated and I studied a lot.Class was interesting,but was not helpful for the tests.Lots of reading test every 2 wks on 2 chapters

I got an A in this class (because I made myself read the whole book) but would never recommend the professor to anyone. He is arrogant in class and he does not respect his students. He rambles during lecture so I had no notes to take. Most people realized not to bother attending class. Poor choice in a textbook.

class is ridiculously easy to pass, because you only need 200 out of the given 400 points to pass. getting an A on the other hand, is extremely hard. aside from the first 5 quizzes which cover the first 10 chapters, you have no other points except the autobiography and the final which covers 10 chapters. lectures are boring.

Child and Alolescent development online was a terrific class. 9 assignments. Thanksgiving week off. People who scored enough points could skip the last assignment. No tests, no final required. Finished two weeks early with an easy A. TAKE PSYCH 14- SATERFIELD. He doesn't say much, but who cares when you can get through with it easy as this!

I was a bit worried at first but started to get the hang of what he wanted. Granted it is not an easy "A" but it is still attainable. I took his class on-line, everything is based off the textbook and there are no class "interactions". Basically, just do the assignments from the designated chapters and you'll be fine. Extra credit avail. too.

Easiest online course EVER. 9 simple, straightforward assignments. DO NOT CITE WORK (he marks off if you do it wrong) just simply summarize and paraphrase what you read and answer his questions directly. You must be able to write/read well!

Dear hard-working GPA 4.0 students, He is a GPA Killer. Every students got Bs. Never take in-class PSYCH from him. He won't guide you in how to study with all mutiple choises tests. Very nice, one big project, however quizess are 50 q's, some q's are worded tricky. I get b's and c's on all quizzes and was still able to get a B in the class. You must get all A's on the quizess to get an A in the class.

literally his class is like a hypnosis. do NOT be surprised that you'll fall asleep in his class b/c his monotone voice is "magical". all u need to do in his class is listen, but then all u need to do outside the class is to read the 50% OF THE 2-INCH THICK TXT BOOK. of course you'r not forced to read it, if ur not interested in passing the class.

Completely disrespectful and on a total power trip. His instructions were unclear and when I asked him for help he basically told me it was too late and I should drop the class. He repeats himself constantly and it always feels like teaching us was beneath him. Find another teacher.

Dr. Satterfield is very knowledgeable, but his lectures are EXTREMELY unclear and have no organization/structure. He spends about half the time reminiscing about his days when he practiced. Your grade is based on participation, random attendance, 1 paper, and final. IF you want to learn something, I suggest you find another instructor.

he knows his stuff, but he also knows how to put you to sleep! have to goto every class, take notes quickly cause he never keeps anything on the projector for more than 30 seconds, I thought this would be easier considering how much I love the topic.. I'd steer clear of him after this class- PS doesn't give you any study guide for final (only test)

Saterfield is very smart but i wouldnt say he is so good at teaching. You have to read half the book and memorize it and understand it. There is only one final for PSYCH 1 so be prepared to read a lot and to teach yourself.

Dr. Saterfield is very flexible. All three tests were take home, and we convinced him to let us take home our final too. We even discussed some of the answers with him. The presentation was relevant, and appropriate for psychology. Hes actually a pretty nice guy. You do need to work for your grade--its college.

Easiest online class EVER EVER. 9 assignments, each one or two questions. don't have the book? answers are online everywhere. Don't attempt to cite the book. He'll mark off for incorrect. Assignments are easy but you also learn a lot by doing the small questions. It'll be with you for life.

Well, he's a psychology professor alright. Unfortunately, he seems to forget that his students are not. While his class is not impossible, its about as close to impossible as you can get. Its a good class for psychology majors, but not really anyone else.

Expects you to understand the details of the book in full detail,mostly on your own, and exams are hard. He allowed us to use book on exam, and later extended the time limit. Average scores were c's WITH the book.Didn't lecture much, too fast. Forgets we don't master the subject yet, and just goes too fast.Take it w/someone else if possible.

I had Dr. Saterfield for general psychology, human development, and biopsychology. His style was very academic, hands-off - he made expectations clear from the start - read before class, come in to review and discuss. It was hard. This is how major classes should be; I learned a great deal, earned all As. Great sense of humor, too.

He knows his subject, but his instructions are unclear and sometimes even contradictory. Syllabus had the bare minimum of information. Did not have an assignment sheet for final paper, expectations conveyed verbally, and were quite unclear. Lectures are unhelpful and not relevant to tested material. Relies on "group discussion" to fill time.
