He taught me how to write essays again. He made me appreciate literature and the films he showed us were incredibly interesting. He takes into account how much you improve on your essays, which helped me a lot to learn how to write again. Great class, would take it again. Smallenburg is nice and his lectures are good.

Not enough useful criteria. He is a tough grader and will not ease you into things. He will ramble on during lectures.

Teacher himself is a nice guy but his classes depends a lot on essays and he can be very unclear on the criteria of said essays. Requires reading of different books from class and comparing them to other works including movies.

Very great prof. Funny guy, explains just what you need to know for writing papers. Get ready to read a lot. He gives a lot of quizes, which you can pass if only you read the books. Watched The Incredibles, to write a paper on it. Watched other movies, so make sure you come to see those.
