Professor Stark is a excellent teacher. You will love him and he is also funny. Just come to class and you will pass with flying colors. The test is to the point and he ties it in with real life stuff. Please take him it is a easy class!!!
easy class dont be a fool take him
If you come to class and take good notes, it's all you need to get an A in his class. Very interesting and not borring.
Dr Stark is the best. I highly recommend you don't miss class and if you do get someone's notes because you will be lost for the test.I also recommend you do every reponse paper he assigns because if you are missing any of them at the end of the semester your grade will be affected. Make friends in class...you'll need them. I loved Dr. Stark!
He is an awesome teacher. He makes the class very interesting, he is not hard at all. Definitelly need the book and as lon you go to class and take good notes, you'll do good
Great Professor, do all the work on time and you should have no problem passing with an A. 2 Take home test, 4 one page written assignments, that's it! The letures are very informative and actually interesting. He's got some decent jokes and he love the YANKEES!!!! Super cool dude and you can actually learn something that will stick with you.
Ironically, every Wednesday night I wasn't very motivated to go to class, but once I got there I enjoyed myself very much and time FLEW. He's got an incredibly dry and wonderful sense of humor. He actually reminds me of James Spader. Class is interesting and easy. I RECOMMEND HIM - HIGHLY!
Best teacher! I loveddddddddddddddd his class!
He is a funny professor who keeps the class interesting. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Stark is the BEST teacher I have had at CSUN. His class was easy, but I learned a lot. He has a great sense of humor, and his lectures are always interesting and entertaining. I was actually disappointed when the class was over. I HIGHLY recommend him!!!!
Excellent professor. Of course he'll brainwash you into an alderian (ha! ha! just kidding, sort of. Not that's a bad thing). You really learn a lot about yourself and others in this class. Take this class, it's very interesting.
He foster acuity of mind in his students. Each Wednesday I look forward to psy352 because each class there is something new and interesting to learn.Easy teacher, Mid and Final take home. It is important ot Make friends.....An easy A
Very Cool class, very interesting subjects discussed. Tests are based on lecture 99%, everyday the class discussions where interesting. Must take teacher, easy A. Don't need the book so dont' BUY IT !
Greatest teacher ever, his lectures are the best, i took him at night and i was still awake!! I worked 8 hours, sometimes more and then went to his class and I was fully alert because his style is so upbeat and fun. He makes sure his students understand, which is the point of teaching. LOVE HIM!!!
The best kind of professor. Knows his stuff and teaches it well, but understands that students have other responsibilties. Book is never used. Lectures can be long but he's very funny and has a great sense of humor. Two take-home tests; go to class and take good notes and you'll get the A. VERY laid-back and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Dr. Stark is the best of the best. He is a caring teacher, very helpful and we all can tell he knows his stuff and he likes what he does. I actually have learned in his class, and not only memorized stuff. I love his teaching method, and the way that he tests. The tests are not easy, or the class, but he is The best! A++++++ for him! I recomend :)
Loved the class, however lectures were never ending and sometimes unclear. Take-home tests are great but material is strictly from notes. Go to class, stick with 2 1/2 hour lectures and you can get an A
Awesome teacher, funny, and knows his stuff. Interesting topic too! classes are too big though! tests are take home but not easy at all.
Not a bad class to take but some of the lectures are hard to sit through. While he tries to make them interesting some of the subject matter is just not fun. Hang in there your get through this class.
Good teacher, really knows his stuff...Both tests are take-home, but they're not easy. Textbook not needed, but you must go to class and take good notes to do well! Highly recommended!
Very nice and helpful. You must go to all class meetings and take good notes in order to pass the class. The book is not necessary but it does help at times. He gives plenty of extra credit to help you bring up your grade. Tests are take home and not that easy but if you try you should be able to get a good grade.
Great Professor, clear, organized, funny, and interesting. Lectures sometimes feel long, important to stick with it, class notes more important than book. Book not really necessary, but helpful. 4 written assignments, take home midterm + final (multiple choice/essay), lots of extra credit. Hates papers more than 1-2 pages.
Funny, insightful, and intelligent guy! His tests come 95% from lecture, so if you can't attend all the time, find a good notetaker. Some students even used tape recorders! The major tests are take-home and he hates long papers, which works great for me!
easy class but only if you take very good notes 2 take home test that are very hard but you have two week to do the test so ask classmates to work as group. plus like 3 paper that are 2 page long. HE HATE PAPER LONGER THAN 2 page so stop after 2 page. he seem mean on day 1 but after that he is very nice. book helps but you do not need that much
Best professor i've take at csun! I actually enjoyed and looked forward on attending this class. He makes the lectures interesting and fun and he makes everything understandable. take him you won't regret it! You should go to class though because the tests are from lectures so if you don't have notes then not good
unfair grading for the papers. make sure you make it obvious that you are answering the question or he wont notice.
Prof Stark is a great professor. He is all lecture but he makes it interesting and funny. I'd recommend his class. There are two take home tests (not hard) and a couple of papers, plus lots of extra credit opprotunities available. I must say though, you only get what you put into it, so try a little and you'll do just fine.
Two exams, both are take home exams. There are a few short papers to write as well. The textbook is helpful for the exams but I did not buy it and did fine. It is an easy class but it is rather boring. The professor is not very friendly and has a dry sense of humor. If you can handle boring, then take him.
This professor is awesome. He teach really well and he make sure you understand everything. There is just one midterm and a final its open book and open notes but you have to turn off your cellphone in class and no laptap in exam. There is 3 random written assignments and you have to listen to him if he said just 1 page he meant 1 page thumbs up!
very easy class. midterm and final are both open book/notes. he randomly gives out homework and extra credit. he does count attendance. it's a boring subject but he's funny. this is the second class i've taken with him.
He's a really relaxed professor. I never worried a day about this class. Take him if he teaches this course again. Open book, open note multiple choice midterm and final. All of it is from his notes. You rarely get homework, maybe 3 one-page summaries of what was discussed in class. Take him!
Dr. Stark is a clinical psychologist teaching part-time at CSUN. Some of his core knowledge in psychology is dated however he brings a wealth of clinical knowledge to the class. He lectures in a conversational style, interspersed with ?humorous? asides. Exams are taken from his lectures, NOT the book. He does not distribute a study guide.
GR8 prof.lectures are too the point and clear.midterm& final are open book.so listen to lecture and take good notes.i nver used book.hw assignments are easy.just use theories xplained and write about them.gives EC.he gives hw and EC on random days,so attnd lecture.he usually lets us go early.2x ive takem him and always did great. he is a fun prof.
I heart him. He's the best. Gives random assignments/extra credit. He's really entertaining and the midterm/final are open book/notes. Can't beat that.
Course - Cognitive Psych - Took this class last semester. He's now my favorite teacher at CSUN. He's just a smart guy, and lectures and teaches in a logical manner. If you are tired of dumb teachers, take this guy. If you pay attention in class, there's absolutely no reason you can't get an A. A joy to take.
Take really good notes, attend class and do the extra credit. He gives you 100 points for the class, so you really do need the extra credit points.Even though the exams are open book you still have to be at the lectures and be familiar with the material as they are not easy exams.
GREAT professor to take Psych. All his midterms & finals are open notes and open books so technically, you could pass his class without even attending the lectures. He's also very funny and uses examples that relates to students so it's easier for us to understand. Tests are multiple choice and he curves them anyway, so easy A.
He is a very interesting professor. He knows what he is talking about and he is pretty funny. You don't have to come, but the exams are easier if you hear the material from him instead of the book. Reading is important, but to pass you need to be in class to listen and get the assignments.
I truly enjoyed his class and learned a lot of information. He really cares to make everyone understand his class and will not move forward until all questions are answered. He also gives great examples so you can understand what he is talking about. Show up to class, take notes, do simple assignments and you will do great.
great professor. he's really funny and fun to listen to. had the class 8 in the morning so imagine. Im not a morning person, but Dr. Stark was a great man. 3 exams all open book/notes and 1 paper. total points in the class are 100 points (25 pts each assignment). I recommend to everyone.
There are 2 exams all multiple choice, and they are open note/book. He also assigns term paper. He's a good professor in that he makes the material interesting and entertaining with his sarcastic jokes.I would recommend him. You'll enjoy the class.
If you show up to class and take notes, you'll have an A! There are only two open book/note exams and two papers. No need to buy the book, you only use it for the papers and can get it on reserve. He goes off topic very often and likes conversing with the class. No power points, no outside reading, etc. Just show up to class and take notes.
Easy class. Pretty straightforward about what he wants. 2 essays, and midterm and final exam. Just attend his class, take really good notes, and use the textbooks for your essays. You will get an Easy A.
Very difficult class, was not what I expected. Hard grader must put a lot of work to do well. I regret taking him. Do not take Him! Unless you want to work hard!
Professor Stark is very competent to teach this course because he is also a licensed psychologist in private practice. I learned a lot from him about aspects of clinical work with clients. He is very helpful during office hours. Definitely take him if you plan on pursuing a career as practioner.
Tests are open book, open notes! It is greatly beneficial to go to class for the notes.
Although he's mean and stuck up, and doesn't like to answer questions. He teaches well, and cracks jokes here and there. He has a midterm, and final with 2 papers all 25% of grade. Everything is easy given the midterm and final are open book and note. I would take again for an easy A.
Professor Stark is direct, to the point, no nonsense kind of guy but he is funny, gives interesting and informative lectures. You must attend class because test are mostly from lectures. Take really really good notes, test are open booknotes, do All extra credit and regular assignments, show up, study for test, you should pass.
Get the book Gerontology because you can use it and notes on tests!! Dont get the book Aging; you never need it. There are only 2 papers, a midterm, and a final. He grades papers a little hard; make sure to follow the directions closely. He gives some extra credit. He's a clinician, so he knows his stuff. Honestly, the subject is depressing.
Professor Stark was quite entertaining, the subject was simple enough to comprehend. Papers were not too difficult as long as you followed the proper Criterion and both the mid-term and final are open note, open book. He also gives extra credit so you shouldn't have any trouble getting a high grade in his course.
Professor Harry Stark is the worst professor to take for Cognitive Psychology. He talks more about his wife than the course material. Take Darrel Richards instead of this guy. He tests on stuff he doesn't teach and lectures for 2 hours and 30 minutes without a break.
His lectures vary depending on the subject. The class I took the second time had not power point slides. He only dictated, which wasn't all that bad. His sense of humor is dry
Dr. Stark is a very helpful & intellectual professor. He is always there to help guide you in the right direction. I took him for two courses and enjoyed them. He is someone who really wants everyone to succeed. I appreciate all the help he's given me this semester. He gives awesome extra credit opportunities that will really help your grade. TAKE!
Professor stark is a great professor. Open book and open note tests. You need your notes to pass his tests. Just follow everything he says, do all the work and you'll get an A. Took him over the summer and I got an A. He's funny too! When he says no more than 5 pages, that means don't write more!
One of the worst professors at CSUN.
Easy class however he is not the friendliest person ever. Completely into himself and arrogant! Wouldn't want to spent another second listening to his monotone voice.
One of the best professors of the Psychology department at CSUN. Professor Stark has a lot of knowledge and you will learn a lot from him. He is funny and has a very interactive and intelligent way of teaching. The class is very interesting. Take him!
Dr. Stark is an awesome professor. If you are a psychology major or enjoy learning about psychology you should take his class. He is very funny and if you think he is arrogant you just dont get his humor. There was one interview paper, online quizzes and two tests. Very fair and actually cares about his students. Take good notes and come to class!
Dr. Stark is extremely knowledgeable and a genuine guy, For a 300 level course this is a piece of cake. 5 online quizzes, 2 open note/open book tests and a research paper that's easy. Don't buy the book - it's expensive and on reserve at the library. You don't need it for tests. Attendance is mandatory as he doesn't post lectures online.
I LOVE DR. STARK! If you care about life and your future and the body you will love this class. Subjects were never boring, it is all open note tests, 1 paper-very doable, you never get bored. He explains EVERYTHING through PP, no book necessary. He is amazing. Pay attention and interact through lecture, and you will do great on exams! Enjoy :)
Dr. Stark is amazing, he welcomes feedback and is a caring Professor. I recommend you pay attention to every story tells you in class, he links them with the ideas he's teaching and later tests on it. Pay attention to the lectures, the tests are based on them.
One midterm and a final. Five online quizzes. One 9 page paper. All of which are easy to pass. You won't get anything lower than a C on exams. You MUST show up to class in order to do well on exams and quizzes. Everything is based on his lectures and he doesn't post them on moodle. Don't skip any lectures
An easy course where if you listen to lecture and read you will be sure to get an A.
i thought it will be an essay A class but it is not even though the midterm and final are open book and open notes but the choices are so tricky. 5 online quizzes which u can also use your notes. he does not post the power points on moodle so everyone have to come to class.
All quizzes online, tests are open book, open note, and all tests straight from lecture. Heavy lecture. Go to class, take good notes, will pass with good grade. Dr. Stark is very knowledgeable and can be a be arrogant but in a funny way. Calls himself a AH but totally not!
If you take REALLY good lecture notes and attend class you will do great on the exams. Open notes for both exams and online quizzes. Gives some extra credit, one paper, two exams, and a quiz every week online. He's an easy grader in my opinion so don't freak out over the paper.
Hes not very approachable but hey, his class is easy in terms of how he really wants you to pass so he allows open notes, open book tests, lots of extra credit and his lectures are easy to comprehend. One paper, few quizzes, and 2 tests.
One of the few good ones at csun. Pay attention in class, take notes, do all of the assignments (paper, weekly quizzes, midterm and final + extra credit papers) and you should be fine!
He is amazing. What you see is what you get. Make sure you go class or get the notes bc exams are open book/note. There is a lengthy paper, but it isn't bad since he explains that the pages listed on the syllabus are set at a maximum requirement and not a minimum (b/t 3-7 pages but no more than 7). Easy online quizzes.
Dr. Stark is down to earth and very approachable. Online tests and OPEN notes midterm and final are based on the power points presented in class. You must show up and take notes, or pics of the powerpoints because they are not on canvas. He makes the topics relatable to everyday life and likes to joke around. Extra credit opportunities.
Double lectures tend to be dreadful, but not for this professor. Lectures tend to flow very well. Offers 10% extra credit, and term paper was super easy. He actually writes his own tests unlike a lot of other lazy professors. Tests are open note btw. Basically, if you show up and take decent notes, you're good. If you fail his class... then wow.
I really recommended aware of his class. His lecture is too bad and his exam is very hard . The exams are4 open book, but you can not able to find the questions any where. Although his lecture is very confusing. He is not orgonized also.
Dr. Stark is a little harsh in some regards, not everyone will find his sense of humor appealing. However, he is by far one of the nicest professors I have taken a class with. He gives several opportunities for extra credit and his layout of lectures is very smooth and easy to understand. I would definitely recommend his class to any and everyone.
Great Professor!! Honestly, I did not use any of the books he mentioned. Just payed attention in lecture. He literally talks about everything thats on the quiz/exam. He gives quizzes (not every week), extra credit, a midterm, and final. Pretty easy and interesting class. He also goes over the quizzes and exams with you if you have questions!
-Professor Stark is very knowledgable and gives great examples from his practice. -He is lecture heavy, but his dark humor makes up for it. Not many would take to it though. -He has 11 quizzes. One midterm and one final noncumulative. -Pay attention during class. -He gives lots of extra credit!! This semester he even took out the paper!
Dr. Stark is nice and overall I enjoyed this class. The only thing is that he does have weekly quizzes that were pretty hard. Be sure to take notes from his lectures because most of the questions were not on the powerpoints. He cancelled a paper for this semester due to COVID, not sure if he'll do the same for next semester. He did offer easy E.C.
the textbook was never used. all quizzes and exams are based on his slides and lectures so pay attention. he is a funny sense of humor but is very stern in general. Easy A tbh. He offers plenty of extra credit that should help.
COVID Edition: I never used the textbook. All the quizzes and tests were all based on his lectures. He is very funny and makes concepts more relatable. He also had many different extra credit opportunities. Also, attend lectures if attendance is low he will give the class some kind of advice on any upcoming quiz or test.
dr. stark was one of the best psych professors I've ever had, he has dark humor, but it helps the time pass, and it sometimes could be relatable for test, test are all based off his lectures, so no need for the book or internet other than for class! if he could teach all the classes, then heck yeah I'd take them all! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM!
Comes off as rough, but he's incredibly funny and caring. Very dry sense of humor. Teaches everything really well in person. The covid transition mid-semester was difficult, but overall he managed it well. Caring outside of the classroom too, and does his best to help his students. Also responsive to direct feedback.
Great professor, tests are based on lectures; not the textbook (which isn't needed). He is straight to the point, shares stories from time to time which keeps the class environment interesting. He truly cares about his students and it shows.
Professor Stark was an amazing professor especially during tough times such as this pandemic. He offered lots of extra credit, had clear powerpoints, and always kept lectures captivating with great examples and interesting material. I thoroughly enjoyed having him as a professor and he is so funny and sarcastic which was a bonus. Take him!!
The best cognitive psych professor at CSUN! Dr. Stark is incredibly passionate about the subject and he makes you feel welcomed. He gives 2 tests and multiple quizzes, easy to pass if you attend class because they are based solely on the lecture material. You wont regret taking his class!
This was my 2nd time taking a class with Dr. Stark. I wish he could teach all the psych classes at CSUN, he's truly a gem in the department. His lectures are interesting and he applies everything to real life which makes it easier to understand. You won't regret taking any of his classes!
Im not sure how this professor has a good rating .. This mans lectures are the most boringest thing ever I suggest not taking him 8 am, and more later in the day because you will fall asleep! His tests are tricky and confusing.. it is not straight forward . He gives you power points but trust me you actually have to understand this material.
He purposely tries to trick you on every exam/quiz. Everything on the quiz is from random things he said during lecture and the powerpoints don't help. If you miss a class you're screwed for the quizzes/exams. His lectures are also super boring and he talks THE ENTIRE TIME without pause. Usually even goes over class time.
Class twice a week, but lectures feel very slow/boring especially at 8 am. I recommend taking lengthy notes while he lectures, because his quizzes are based on the notes/in-person lecture. About 1-2 quizzes each week - 10 questions each. 50 questions on the midterm & final exam - taken on canvas. He does not take attendance.
This professor is great. His assignments are all based on the lectures, so go, take good notes (I suggest typing the PowerPoint for that lecture ahead of the class so you can just fill in the blanks during the lecture), and you will get an A.
Motivation psych with Stark was a class I looked forward to. He is very funny and keeps you interested in class and his humor can come off mean but just don't take it personal. If you show up and take notes you'll pass, he's not trying to trick you or make it harder than it is. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, I definitely recommend.
Pretty straightforward professor, teaches you everything you need to know. Attendance is not mandatory but missing class makes the quizzes/tests harder. Go to class and take notes and it will be an easy A. Quizzes every week, make sure to check canvas because he doesn't remind you about them. Midterm and final that are open note.
I thoroughly enjoyed prof. Stark and his class I think he provides a great insight on the course material. he is so funny, and very nice. He is willing to answer questions and makes himself accessible. I am looking forward to taking his motivation class. he also provides plenty of extra credit opportunities. take advantage of that!!
Honestly, I had this class at 8 am and despised going, but as I continued to go I looked forward to this class just because of how good of a teacher he is.
Best professor I've ever had and I loved this class. I had the 8 am and I loved it. Professor Stark is hilarious and cares about your success as long as you make an effort to reach out. He appreciates participation and makes lectures enjoyable. Tests: midterm and final, both open notes, and a couple of short quizzes. Highly recommend!!
One of my favorite professors. His class was quite easy with only a handful of quizzes throughout the entire semester and two exams, one midterm and the final (both open note). Be sure to show up to his lectures though because most of his exam content is about what he lectures. No worries though because his lectures are very funny and entertaining
One of the best professors I've had. He makes lectures fun, so always participate. Make sure to take good notes because they will be useful for the tests. He is always available for office hours and is more than willing to help you.
Dr. Stark is a fantastic professor. He has great stories to tell and ties them into the lecture material. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go. Do all of the extra credit, Exams are online (you have to come to class and sign your name on a sign-in sheet to get credit for the exam). They're open notes & easy if you take good notes.
One of my favorite professors. His class features only a handful of quizzes throughout the entire semester and two exams: one midterm and the final, both open-note. Attending his lectures is crucial, as most exam content is derived from his lectures. He is the funniest professor I have taken at CSUN, and there is never a dull moment in his class.
BY FAR THE BEST PROFESSOR AT CSUN. DR STARK IS A WONDERFUL PROFESSOR I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS CLASS HIS LECTURES WERE SUPER INTERESTING AND HE MADE THE CLASS ENJOYABLE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL SINCE HE WANTS ALL OF US TO PASS. I HAD HIM TWICE ONE FOR 8 AM AND ONE FOR 9 AM I DIDN'T MIND THE DRIVE TO SCHOOL JUST SO I CAN ENGAGE IN THE DISCUSSIONS.
Great professor. I stopped going to class halfway through the semester and still ended up with an A. Was having a tough time at this point in the semester and he was very understanding about it. His quiz questions are worded very weird and kind of hard to understand, though
literally the best professor ever. he's hilarious with some jokes, chill and super patient. NO HOMEOWRK , he has quizzes that are online, theres like a "pop" quiz after each lecture and 2-3 exams (also online) but we have to be in class to take them. but overall definitely, recommend with extra credit my score end of the day was 110%.
Harry Stark is a super funny guy. However, he's not very tech-savvy which can be frustrating and he seems more concerned with making his students laugh then teaching them the course content. I did get a bit frustrated at his disorganized lectures but overall he's not a bad professor. Just do the extra credit and quizzes and you'll be fine.
Professor Stark's lectures are lively and engaging. Though attendance is mandatory, the content is manageable with diligent note-taking. Quizzes and exams are open-note, and Unstuck ai proved helpful for exam prep.
One of the best professors at CSUN. Interesting class with many stories and you really do learn without being worried about exams (as he helps you tremendously to prepare). Took 3 of his classes. Wish I could take a fourth one!
One of my favorite professors! Professor Stark offers extra credit and replies to emails in a timely manner. Quizzes are given weekly but if you use the slide shows you'll get a 10/10.
Excellent professor, thanks for a great semester. Made his lectures fun with his sense of humor. Highly recommend. 10/10
Such a wonderful professor. His lectures are engaging and really helps you understand the subject. He cares about his students and wants people to participate. Take advantage of his office hours because he will take the time to help you truly understand what is being discussed in class. He offers several extra credit assignments. Take him!
He is amazing. The second time I have taken him. He is so chill and is just such an intelligent man. I would definitely recommend him. And his classes are based on quizzes based on lecture and 3 exams! Also tip: to ace the exams, takes notes on almost literally everything he says. (not the slides). Plus open notes tests.
Dr. Stark had great lectures, even though attendance was not mandatory coming to his lectures will benefit you because you will understand the material more then on your own from the powerpoints. He explains very well, time flies in class. Two papers, online quiz and there is a midterm and a final, and open note.
this professor isn't bad but wasn't my favorite. attendance isn't mandatory but the lectures are very helpful for exams because it's mostly verbatim. two papers during the semester that didn't have clear rubrics but he is not super strict on grading anyway. the class was easy but i don't feel like i gained too much information from it, so easy A!
Amazing lecturer, super kind and caring, he genuinely wants you to understand the material and do well. Two term papers (nothing to stress about trust), one midterm and the final, both open note. Take notes on what he says in lecture, will be so beneficial. Attendance not mandatory but you really benefit from what he has to say. Great class, take!!
Dr. Stark is hilarious and a great professor who genuinely cares about what he's teaching! Attendance isn't mandatory, but I honestly recommend going because his exams and quizzes are based off of lectures, not just the slides he posts on canvas. Exams and quizzes are open note/open book!
This professor lectures were funny he's not bad . The good part is that he doesn't take attendance although he may have quizzes to check attendance randomly his lecture were based on canvas and if needed help he would reply through email and in class would talk to me about it
