This proffesor is very helpful in the fact that he uses visual, audio, and written examples of what he is talking about. The really helps the class, I beleive, because people learn different ways.

Harv "the hitman" Hartman is great. Good theology + good exegesis = a great professor. Not easy and not lenient but you learn some stuff.

Amazing professor. So passionate about the Bible and its Author. Teaches in a way that makes students hunger knowledge. Loves students so much, and cares about them as individuals.

I love this guy. He is a great teacher. I have him for Genesis and I have learned things in that class that I take to my job. Awesome class!

Good prof. Gets behind on the syllabus practically on the first day, but its because he goes over things thorougly so it makes sense. I learned a lot. Funny guy as well. Not too hard, I learned a lot, and for the most part I enjoyed class.

One of my favorite profs so far. Aside from "story time" he also had wonderful theological lessons and life lessons. If you show up to class, you will enjoy it. He makes the Old Testament come alive, not just a bunch of stories and laws and numbers.

This man is hilarious! I loved classes. I think I only missed one or two. He did a great job teaching. If you needed help or even just wanted to talk about personal issues, he was always willing to listen and try to help. Great man!

I didn't think the class was very hard but many of my friends think it is. Basically take notes, read, and just study the notes.

I love Hartman, he has such a love for the Bible and his students. His class is very clear cut, not too hard or too easy. I respect this man very much, he is definately a man after God's own heart. Altough I don't like that he spreads around thing's such as the Canopy Theory (now disproven) and the Young Earth Model/Interpration as gospel fact.

Tough class if you don't study a lot, but a great professor. You will learn so much in his class and he really cares about his students. If you are truly interested in getting to know the Bible and the heart of God, take Hartman.

Taking this class honors was great. Smaller numbers of studends meant more questions. Honestly- it was a great class!

Mr. Hartman was awesome! If you think he's hard, it's only because you're too lazy to read or study what he gives you. In that case, you shouldn't be in college. You should be flipping burgers at some little-known burger shack.

HArtman was awesome! As long as you pay attention and do your work, you'll pass with flying colors (and maybe learn something in the process!) =)

he loves what he teaches and he really gets into it, what i really liked was how he got into the practical reality of the ot and not just used it as a story book, his tests and quizzes are easy just read your notes

GREAT MAN OF GOD- and friend to his students- what an encouragement he is to all and an example of truly digging into the Word

He is okay but kinda dull after a while. he does not grade for showing up, but has quizes in class like 50% of the time and the quizes count for like 25% of your overall grade so missing class is risky... I got a D due to my playing around with skipping his class. If I had not skipped so much I would have prevailed.

wow- i had no interest in the OT until i took his class. And when i got sick on the day of my final- he said not to worry about it & that he would just average the grades i had because i attended class faithfully!

Dr. Hartman is great. He spends forever on Genesis but makes the subject interesting. He is extremely knowledgable and can be very funny at times.

HARTMAN ROCKS!! He is GREAT!! He is really funny (sometimes dry humor) but I love him! He explains everything very clearly (sometimes long lectures tho) and he is also a great guy outside the classroom. Pretty easy test/quizzes if you copy the notes and pay at least half-way attention. Take him over anyone else!!

Great class. Hartman knows what he's talking about and communicates it well to the class. Awesome sense of humor. My only problem is that I have him for a 7:50 class, and his voice is so soothing that it's hard not to fall asleep. Don't take him for an early class, but any other time, he's a great professor.

Great prof, great sense of dry humor (definitely a history teacher's sense of humor, not that that is a bad thing), presents good subject matter and actually makes the old testament interesting.

tests were harder than i thought they would be but quizzes were easy. easy attendance policy - we all know thats a deciding factor in which class to take!! good prof overall, learned a lot

he's great! he has a dry sense of humor that catches you off guard throughout his lectures. yeah, his tests are hard if you don't study (come on, it's upper level), but he's very clear about what he expects and he's more than willing to sit down with you and help you out.

Except for his look-of-death-if-you-walk-in-late thing he's got going on, he was pretty good. Make sure you do your reading, tests were fairly hard.

Hartman is the man! Very interesting to listen to, knows his subject, can present it in an interesting way. Tests and quizzes are pretty common sense if you read your Bible. Hartman is for everyone who has a pulse, doesn't want to zone out in class, and wants to really learn stuff. Great for everyone.

Hartman's an interesting professor. He's very dedicated to the OT and the class. Can be a hard class. Quizzes need a little preparation and test must be studied for. Overall, Hartman's a good guy.

This class was very hard for me, and he often goes off topic with stories. I wouldn't reccomend him. He's a great person and very heplful, though.

Class isn't too bad if you do the reading and study. Dr. Hartman is very knowledgeable and it is very clear that the Old Testament is his passion. He offers great insight and his lecture on Proverbs is amazing!

He is a good teacher but the class can get hard near test time. Not his fault though because he is very clear in what he wants. For future students: Make sure you follow his formats for the papers perfectly, the content is not as important as the format. Good teacher overall not to easy not to extremely hard and I did learn quite abit.

I loved Hartman's class. He's super interesting and very fair in my opinion. Any prof that can make books like Leviticus and Numbers interesting is great in my book! make sure you study though!

Most people told me going in that Prof Hartman is very boring, you won't like the class, but it was the exact opposite for me. He made the OT come alive to me and i learned so much that i never knew before. I love how detailed he is in his lectures. if you enjoy really studying the bible and want to really learn about it, Hartman is your guy.

He is very intelligent. His quizzes are a little hard so make sure you read your textbook when he tells you to. Also, study your notes a lot for his tests... if you do that, you'll be fine. Not a hard class. Good teacher.

Professor Hartman is amazing! I loved his class...he really made the Old Testament come alive. If you study for his tests you will get an A or B...not hard at all if you study. Quizzes are not difficult at all if you just read and review notes before class. Yes you miss his quizzes if you are late but this is college..be on time!! Not that hard!

Hartman is a great professor. His tests can be a little tough. However, he really prepares you for them.. and keeps you intrigued every lecture. Loved the class.

I was warned Dr. Hartman was hard. I took his class because I loved Old Testament. He was very interesting. He is kind of dry sometimes, but very informative. His tests were kind of hard, but if you studied it was easy to make an A. His map drawings were great.

Good professor that is really knowledgeable on the subject matter-almost knows to much so it can be quite confusing at times. Tests are mult choice but can be pretty tough. READ what he assigns!! Quizzes over just about EVERY reading...

He gives good notes with a camera and projector. If you study the notes you should do well. He has alot of knowlegde (he's been to Israel on a archeological dig). He is funny, too.

He is a great teacher and funny too. He really knows a lot about the subject and as long as you copy down the notes, the tests aren't made to be too hard. He tries to keep the class interesting and tells the Bible stories as if we were right there living in that time which helps me remember the material. He's great.

Absolutely my favorite prof this semester! Funny, yet informational! He has insight that is incredible! He makes so many connections between facts that I never thought of before! Such a fantastic guy!

Hartman is an amazing man full of so much information and entertaining! He just lectures, but his lectures are GREAT! He is so wise and you can see he really cares about the students and the subject! You have to study all the notes for the tests, and make sure you take good notes and you will be fine! Wise man of God!

Had him for Old Testament Survey and Genesis. A brilliant, funny, intriguing guy with a huge passion for his subject matter. Genesis came alive with Dr. Hartman teaching, although he had to rush through some of the end. He just couldn't bring himself to move along as fast as the calendar needed him to, but that was a *good* thing - more depth.

Not only is he funny, intelligent, and a very good teacher, but he is also very committed to the spiritual well-being of his students. He is very kind and considerate one-on-one, and he goes to great lengths to prepare his students to get a good grade, though he also requires a lot from them. Very highly recommended!!!

Can't say enough good things about this professor! His class was the highlight of my semester last spring. If any class has potential of being boring, it's OT, but Dr. H made it come to life for me and helped me see God in a new way.

This guy was awesome, he made the subject matter interesting, the test were easy and his "pop" quiz's were all ways for warned by and over mentioning of reading the chapter in book. but the class was so easy one day i had crammed the night before for an earlier classes test and i was really tired so i respectfully napped and i still passed no prob

Hartman is an excellent professor. I had him last semester. Like most of my professors, he knows how to keep your attention. His test aren't to hard. Read the text and study the notes, and the test should be easy!!

What an amazing teacher of God's Word Dr. Hartman is. Not to anyone's offense, but the OT is usually not something that will keep you on the edge of your seat. However, Dr. Hartman crafted it into one big story, which was definitely a major draw. The work-load is incredibly light, and the tests and quizes are easy. TAKE HIM!!!

Interesting material and great guy, but DO NOT take him at 7:40. I am a morning person- fabulously optimistic all the time, but when the cold weather and rain-every-single-day hits you, you will NOT want to be out that early. The class is easy enough. Really study the notes hard and you'll be fine.

I am in my senior year, and Dr. Hartman is hands down one of the best professor that I have ever had. He does not tolerate laziness, very tough (I got a B) and the big presentation made me learn to actually research well (a skill I wish I had learned my freshman year). Liberty needs more professors like him.

Doctor Hartman is awesome. He presents things that make me look at things in a way I never have before. He's a very interesting teacher, and I really look forward to coming to class. Just remember to take notes from the powerpoint!

Hartman is a good teacher. If you read the chapters, take good notes, listen in class, and study well for the tests and quizzes, it will be an easy class. However, his voice sometimes makes me want to go to sleep. I would recommend you pick a good time or else you'll be sleeping. Other than that, Hartman is a very smart, clear, and kind professor.

Very difficult class. Textbook is used for quizzes; tests are 100% from class notes. If you are an honors student who is struggling to maintain that 3.5, do not take Dr. Hartman. But if you have any questions about the Bible, he is the man to ask. He knows a ton.

My favorite class last semester. I took notes, but I never looked at them or opened the book, still got an A. Just listen to him, it's an outstanding class. It's definitely the "meat" of the Word. He used the Bible, not a bunch of opinions. Will take again if possible.

Take him for OT Survey, if you actually care about God's word and want to learn a lot you won't be disappointed. He's not young and hip, but he's very funny and knows more than most of us probably ever will.

He is a fantastic teacher who displays both sides to the arguments, gives his opinion, and invites the student to find theirs. He loves his students and makes time for them, just swing by his office. If you want easy don't grow up and go to college. It is supposed to be hard. Whoever says he is arrogant does not know the man at all.

Interesting and smart, but bland in delivery. Hard to stay awake at 7:40 T/R. Still enjoyed class. Tests weren't too difficult, quizzes likewise. Studying/reading was a necessity though. The paper was easy and surprisingly fun. Great prof who has hands on experience visiting the locations he describes, which added a lot to his explanations.

Hartman is hilarious. He is one of my favorite teachers! He moves a little slow and tends to fall behind and get caught on rabbit trails, but he usually brings it back and ties it in. The info he teaches is actually really interesting and he makes a lot of cheesy jokes and puns to keep the class engaged. TAKE HIM!

Old Testament with Dr. Hartman was by far my favorite class! He teaches the material in a way that is engaging and insightful! He is very smart and knows the material extremely well! I had him for OT Survey, and took him again for Genesis. He moves slowly but you really dig deep into the first 11 chapters of the book. He was helpful, the assignments weren't hard but helped you learn how to use OT commentaries. His knowledge is staggering at times, you'll learn a great deal and be glad you had him.

Take Dr. Hartman. He is very difficult and a super tough grader. An A will be difficult, but the class is so worth it! Dr. Hartman cares more about his students than any other professor, the class is engaging and you WILL learn about the OT. Make sure you read the textbook THOROUGHLY and always expect a quiz.

Dr Hartman is an extremely passionate, amazing professor. He made Genesis come alive to me and did it with such enthusiasm and clarity! He loves story telling, and doesn't just teach the class as if it's merely that. He loves his students and his job. His love for the Lord overflows into his class. TAKE HIM! =)

For HONORS Old Testament, he was an excellent professor. The class was undoubtedly difficult, but he is such a great teacher it is worth the extra effort. Take his HONORS class. It's wonderful.

He is a good teacher, but not an interesting teacher. I was bored, and slept throughout the class everyday....But if you take good notes, you'll be alright. Beware of pop quizzes! In this class, you get only what you put in.

Rarely have I found a teacher that graded do hard yet I liked. Dr. Hartman has a big heart (no pun intended) for his students and his lessons. Like others have said, the class is difficult but he is an amazing professor and a prolific "story teller". He made the stories of the Bible become animated in the mind and I throughly enjoyed him. Got a B.

Took Joshua-Judges with Hartman after having had Genesis and OT Survey with him as well. He makes the material interesting, has a great sense of humor, and grades very fairly. No research paper, just two Bible lesson outlines to prepare. I'd highly recommend him.

Dr. Hartman is a great man. He is sincere, upstanding, and holds to his convictions. I enjoyed his course on Genesis, however, I am naturally interested in that stuff. I thought his classes were a little dry, but he is clearly dedicated to the material. He has spent time working with archeologists in Israel.

Very good professor! His material on the quizzes is kidna hard but overall if you study and read the book regularly and if you have good Old Testament knowledge prior to taking his class you will get a good grade. He's a great guy, I would recommend taking him.

Gives very straightforward notes with powerpoint slides. quizzes are from textbook. exams are straight from notes so not a good idea to skip classes. overall very knowledgble about what he teaches. take him if you really want to learn!

Prof. Hartman is a professor and a half! He makes me feel like I'm actually experiencing the events of the Old Testament. LOVED this class although many thought it was boring? They just don't appreciate an awesome teacher when they see one.

Dr. Hartman is an excellent teacher who knows the material like the back of his hand, who cares about his students, and who challenges the students enough to encourage them to strive harder without making them feel overwhelmed. Completing this class I know a lot about Genesis. His tests are really hard if you do not study.

Favorite professor! He really digs into the material; although he goes slower than Hindson, you get SO much more out of the class. He has a hilarious, dry sense of humor and is extremely intelligent. Every college professor should be like him - crystal clear about grading & all that. Wish I could take him again. It's harder, but worth it!

Great professor! Lots of reading though, and you have to do well on ALL of your quizzes and tests in order to get a decent grade in the class. You definitely have to go the extra length to get the grade you desire. He is very entertaining in his lectures. I would definitely recommend him.

Dr. Hartman is probably the most detailed prof. for this subject from what I've heard about the other profs. You won't get through the whole Old Testament but you will learn stuff you probably didn't in Sunday school. Because he is more detailed, tests are harder. He cares a lot about his students though and is a kind prof.

Dr. Hartman is literally my favorite prof. If I could take him for all my classes I would. His lectures are very interesting, even early in the morning when I was half asleep! He really knows and loves the Old Testament and it shows in his lectures. He is such a friendly guy and loves to hug! Reading in his class is a MUST! I HIGHLY recommend him!

Dr. Hartman loves the subject he is teaching. His lectures can feel very long, but he at least tries to make them interesting. Put in the effort and his class is an easy A.

LECTURES ARE A LITTLE DRY, BUT YOURE GONNA GET A GOOD OVERVIEW OF THE OLD TESTAMENT. IF YOU CAN STAY AWAKE ANT TAKE YOUR NOTES STRAIGHT FROM THE POWERPOINT, YOU WILL DO PRETTY WELL IN THIS CLASS. OUT OF THE OLD TESTAMENT PROFS, HE SEEMS LIKE THE BEST OPTION.

I like Dr. Hartman. He is a good professor. I did not find his tests hard in anyway whatsoever. If you show up to class and pay attention you'll pass just fine. Anyone who does not pass his class it is because they didn't show up and didn't take notes. Everything he gives on the test he gave you in the lecture. Very good professor.

I loved Dr. Hartman. Some people found him boring, but I found him quite entertaining (you have to pay close attention to pick up on his sense of humor). He is an extremely wise man and I learned a lot from his class. He does give pop quizzes, though, so make sure to pay attention to his lectures, read, and show up to class.

If you show up to class, pay attention, and take some notes, you will definitely pass. Put in a little extra effort and it's an easy "A". He has a very specific sense of humor that you have to listen carefully for, but the lectures aren't too boring! He seems to be the easiest of the OT profs.

I really liked Hartman. He would randomly raise his voice and practically shout a sentence which would jerk the sleeping people in the front row awake. I never got tired it-made class hilarious. He was engaging and passionate about the material. He apologized for going through so much material so fast but it didn't feel that overwhelming.

Honestly the best Bible professor that I have taken at LU. He truly cares for his students and their understanding of the material. I have taken him for two classes but I would take him for all classes if I could.
