Harvey changed my life. He is a fantastic and dedicated teacher who looks at the Big Picture and encourages individual growth. Everything I learned from him continues to be invaluable.

Great teacher and made the class fun, the use of outside material like music and videos was great and made the class better. Helped me see things differently really opened my eyes. Take his philosophy class you wont be sorry. Do the reading and participate and pay attention and you will be fine.

He's a good teacher but he's tough. Make sure you do you're readings. He says that participation is mandatory for an A, but as long as you get A's on your quizzes, tests. midterm and final... you'll get an A. That's what happened to me. Otherwise, you should participate.

Beware that is class is EXTREMELY CHALLENGING. Class participation is absolutely required. Homework is only reading, but it may be up to 60 pages per week. Tests are NOT multiple choice or true/false, they are entirely essay style and LONG. If youre looking for an easy A, wrong class. However, Harvey is an EXCELLENT and devoted teacher.

For anyone, who ever decides to take a course with Harvey Jackson, I will forwarn you, it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!! He will show you a light, that once might not have been there, or maybe it was there the entire time, and the right material just needed to be laid before you eyes. This course is not easy and can be very challenging. Having said that, Professor Jackson is the BEST teacher I have ever had. The class is absolutely AWESOME !!! His classes require lots of reading and thinking and the classes are challenging. Yet, he is the most fantastic teacher you will ever have! Yes, Harvey is a great, passionate professor. However, do NOT take his class if you want an objective view of philosophical frameworks. He does not tell you what to believe, but he focuses the class HEAVILY on Eastern thought and Buddhism. Plus, the class is reading intensive with ridiculously hard tests & pop quizzes. Not an easy A.

Harvey is without a doubt the best, most passionate, caring, and inspiring teach this college, or any college ever had. The class takes a world philosophy approach and I learned soooo much from him. The class has lots of reading and is complex but his passion is to transform your life. I always disliked school, but he changed my life forever.

I took his Intro to Ethics class. Ethics can be a very boring, but he made it the most interesting class I had this semester. I took PHIL-101 with him last year and he is without doubt the best teacher you could ever have. He keeps the bar very high, but he makes you believe in yourself so deeply that you can accomplish anything.

My sister took his class and she told me it was the best class she ever had in school. One of the things she said was that Prof Jackson was always willing to spend time to help everyone and he really cared about students. She loved his passionate way of teaching and said he was f***in awesome. I am taking his intro to philosophy class in 2 weeks.

I have never had a teacher that was as passionate and caring as this man. I had him for PHIL 101 and he is really inspirational, he taught me things that i will carry in my life for a long time. I don't think i will ever have an amazing teacher like him.

Interesting class, I def. learned a lot, and Harvey is a nice teacher. However for this class attendance is mandatory and you MUST be on time, or he will call you out in front of the class. This class also requires a lot of "thinking outside the box" I got an A in this class, so it can be done, but I had to work hard for it.

I took his PHIL-101 class. Is the class challenging? - YES Is attendance required and being on time? YES. Lots of reading - sometimes. But let me be honest. Professor Jackson is the BEST and MOST inspiring teacher you will ever have. He makes himself available to students around the clock. What he taught us completely changed my life forever.

Taking Harvey's class left me speechless. He is by far one of the smartest people I have ever met and is extremely inspirational. His class is a MUST TAKE. If I could pick more than three tags, I would. Harvey is down to earth with all of his students, he is inspirational and very helpful. If you have an outside problem, he will be there for you. In Ethics, we did A LOT of reading, but I found the information amazing. He does lecture, but also watch videos and have many discussions.

I have never experienced a class where the impact had changed my life in such a positive way. The way Harvey teaches the class makes it relevant to today's world and in our own lives. I would definitely take this class again for a humanities credit or just in general. SIGN UP! It's no shock his seats get filled up extemely fast.

People are not lying when they say he will change your life. I had very little interest going into his ethics class, but it was my favorite course of the semester. His lectures are amazing, he engages the class, and challenges you to truly think. His class is not super easy, but if do the readings and participate, it is pretty straightforward.

He is amazing professor. He usually stays at classroom 1 more hours to help students or talk with them. Before we start the lecture, we listen to musics. We frequently watch videos during the class. He really take care of you if you have a passion in your class. Is not philosophy your major? It does not matter. It will change your attitudes.

He was very excited about what he taught and tried his best to get all of his student's involved. He was very friendly and social and truly does care about his students. He says his class will change your life and it can, though it didn't mine, i was still presented with valuable information. I would recommend this class.

He knows when you are texting or when you try and make it seem like you are taking notes on your laptop but really are just on FB or whatever. Good professor overall. Knows a lot about philosophy and interesting class in my opinion. Mainly lots of reading at home and very lecture heavy in class. Most tests are open note, some are take home, and many are essay questions. Reading and paying attention in class are pretty important to doing well on tests.

Mr. Jackson is a really cool teacher, he wants everyone that he is teaching to get the most out of what he teaches in lectures and our readings. Class is solely based on OPINION so be able to justify both sides to an ethical situation. Assigned textbook writing every week. I honestly never read but I had an A. POP QUIZZES !!! Other than that. SHOW UP TO CLASS. He literally gives out 150/150 on quizzes and you wont have to take them. Lectures can be brutal but there are a lot of videos and movies.

Prof. Jackson was amazing, his lectures are unique and engaging! There were a few pop quizzes but as long as you read the textbook, you'll be fine. ACTUALLY READ! He is always available for his students and will help you on the assignments, don't be afraid to ask.

Professor Jackson's teaching style and ability to convey the material are accurate and clear by speaking and summarizing the content and reading material. He is a great conversationalist and is great at bracketing and discussing many if not all philosophical viewpoints. P.S Please Read, bracket, and have a love for the Truth.

His class is really easy honestly. He grade based on knowledge and understanding. If you write down the lectures (which he will say if something is important) then you should pass. He is strict on showing up on time but he rather you come then not come at all.

Very thought provoking professor and quite an amazing fit for the lecture material. Only pieces of advice I can give for taking the class is to make sure you actually read the book and to show up to every classes. Random pop quizzes are a thing in this class and there are NO make ups for them.

If you're taking a Philosophy course, be sure to ask for Professor Jackson. He's cool, intelligent, laid back, and funny. Attendance is mandatory, so you do not want to miss a single class. As far as homework, it's not too much, but as long as you put in the time, you'll be in good shape! He's readily available outside of class too if you need him.

I would 100% recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a energetic, funny, and interesting teacher. Ethics is a class that can get a tad bit confusing or deep but Professor Jackson makes it the opposite, understandable and straight forward. I enjoyed the classes I was able to attend.

Generally cares about his student's success in the classroom. Requires deep thinking about yourself and the willingness to be open to learning. If you read every week, participate, and have an open mindset, this course is really enjoyable. Just be ready for some pop quizzes, but they're open notes, so you don't have to sweat it.

I came into this course with low expectations and he managed to surpass every single one of them. The lectures are fun but are graded and vital when it comes to most tests. As long as you pay attention to the lectures and the reading, you should be fine on the tests, which are mostly evaluation writing tests.

Professor Jackson prepares his students very well for the tests/exams with the lectures, and all the tests are open book and open note. Not many assignments, just a lot of reading - about 20-30 pages per week. Participation is 20% of your grade, but he gives lots of chances to participate. Overall I rate this subject like a 3/5 but the professor himself a 5/5. He's very lenient and understanding, and honestly just such a genuine person. A very easy grader, and gives easy assignment, just be prepared to actually put in some work.

Textbook is mandatory for home readings for potential "pop quizzes". A discussion class where participating by talking matters more than the assignments. Teacher wants to hear your views and opinions. Teacher is very kind and funny. He will make the class more interesting. Probably the best teacher at HCC currently as he makes learning fun.

He is good at explaining the material and putting emphasis on the most important parts that will be on the exam. He also loves pop quizzes, so it is important to stay on top of the reading assignments.

I enjoyed this class a lot. It touches upon some heavy topics, so be wary of that, but they were really important to talk about. If you dont like to participate in class, then this isnt the course for you. Discussions are crucial for learning the content of this class and also your grade. Professor Jackson places emphasis of being present at class on time because he uses participation as part of your grade so you would need to be present. He is very good at communication and is consistently there for you when you need to contact him. Professor Jackson is very passionate about what he does which are reflected through his lectures.

This professor is a really good professor if you want to take PHIL101! He makes every lecture classes fun. Participation does matter though, so make sure to raise your hand to get those points! Most lectures go through chapters in the textbook, so as long as you read the assigned readings and attend class you should be fine.

If you can keep up with roughly 15-30 pages of a textbook reading weekly, you should have no problem being able to succeed in this class.He makes lectures very entertaining and engaging with his teaching style. Professor Harvey Jackson was a wonderful professor and his lectures were easy to understand as he goes in-depth revolving around tough subjects. I kept hearing that Prof Jackson would change your life. At first, I thought that was BS. Now that I took his course, he not only changed my life but awakened me to this serenity, purpose, and something that is beyond description. If you open yourself up to him, he will walk with you on your journey in life. He is the greatest teacher I ever had.

I took professor Jackson's class 14 years ago. I still talk about the impact it had on me. I'm so pleased to see that he's still imparting wisdom on students. A very dedicated and kind professor who is there to help or talk to you about literally anything whether its school or outside of school. Very good and dense lecture, MUST TAKE NOTES. Tests are hard and long if you do not do the reading and participate in lectures. His students come first and all topic are thoroughly explained. Never use AI.

Very passionate about the subject. Participation is extremely important, for the reading I mostly skimmed and got by, but I suggest you real in full. Tests aren't too difficult but are time consuming and require you to think deeply. Come to all classes or you will have a hard time on exams and truly miss out.

I have accommodations for ASD, and professor Jackson respected all of them. He helped me throughout the entire course and gave me amazing feedback. I had a really hard time understanding the material, but he did everything he could to help us learn it. He truly cares about his students. I highly recommend this professor.

Prof Jackson will be one of the most beneficial professors you will ever have. He will literally do anything to help you succeed and get through his class. The courses can be difficult and it's a lot of reading but just make sure you show up to class ON TIME!! and read the text book and I promise his classes will change your perspective!

I like the Professor. He tries his best to make sure every student is included and understands the material. If you don't get something, he will always go out of his way to explain it to you until you absolutely do get it.

Reading the textbook is super important and so is participation + showing up to class on time!! Prof. Jackson is very caring and will be there for you both academically and emotionally. He's a little preachy, but if this is your first PHIL class that'll be good for you. Overall great professor, very smart, and SUPER passionate about philosophy.

Professor Jackson is great! His lectures are awesome and he makes them fun and engaging. Participation and attendance is important in his class and you must be in class on time. The homework is predominantly reading and a few case studies. The exams are pretty difficult. They are long with a lot of writing and require a lot of critical thinking.
