GOD HE WAS NICE UNTIL THE END OF THE SEMESTER. BUT THE FINAL TEST WAS KILLING. EVEN THE CHEAT SHEET DID NOT HELP. BUT STILL ENDED UP WITH B. NEVER GO TO LECTURE, JUST GO TO THE RECETATIONS. THAT IS IT. AND DO YOUR HW.

Nicest guy you will ever meet. The course itself is not really difficult if you put marginal effort into it. Recitation classes are more important than the lectures. He is very reasonable in grading and he curves accordingly. I haven't seen anyone complaining about his curves or 8 points extra credit problems on the exam. take his course

Lecture was boring, his jokes aren't the best either, but he is a very nice guy. Class material isn't that hard, and his sample tests are almost identical (besides the numbers) to the real test. He deffinently spends way to long tying to make his points.

I'm above average in math, so the class never failed to make me yawn. Mean, median, mode, and those silly business-math formulas...big yawn! I took the class simply to avoid having to take both Stat250/341. In all fairness, he's a nice guy and a decent teacher. The subject matter is just too darn simplistic to make me feel interested.

Dr. Singer is one of favorite prof in GMU, he talks and explains alot but it is ok. it is easy to get A in his class. I really suggest you take his class.

The material is relatively simple, which explains why everyone thinks he's boring. Lab is more important for sure, but the lecture isn't that bad. Do the homework and practice exams and you SHOULD get at least a B...an A is not difficult-he allows a study guide at times.

I went to the first and last lecture. I went to all but 3 recitations. Got a B for the class. Do all your hw, go to recitations... you'll be okay. Professor Singer is booooring but a nice man. I had 2 hws that i didnt have a grade for b/c TA wouldnt fix it, i went to his office and he gave me credit for both on the spot.

Singer is awsome! The lecture is a little boring, but how much of stats isn't? If you are having trouble he is more than happy to help, also go to every lab and do all the homework. If you do that there should be no problem. I got an A, and he let us use study guides for all of the exams.

Pretty Easy Class, got an A-, went to only 2 lectures all semester.

The best professor i have ever taken at mason. Took him in the summer and he is very helpful. He realy cares about his students and wants you to learn the material. read the power points, practice the problems and ask him for help if you don't understand something and its a gauranteed A!!!!...very nice professor!!!!! I highly recomend him!!!!

He really wants the students to learn, but with a large class it's hard to stay awake since there's no interaction. The lab is better with his teacher's aide.

A great teacher considering the boring material that's being covered. His PowerPoint’s are a good synopsis of the books. Allowed a one page study guide during tests. Attending recitation is a must. The TA's are great and try hard to help.

Great professor. Takes a boring subject and tries to make is easier. His lectures are a bit monotonous but they get the point across well. He has a good sense of humor and is very fair. The real issue is with lab, it is critical that you attend the lab. Dr. Singer is a great way to go for this class.

One of my favorite professors at Mason. I didnt even have the prereq but he allowed me to take the class. just go in to talk to him along with the TA for recitation and they help bump up your grade big time. I managed an A in this class hardly going to lecture, 1 page of notes for quizzes and exams help big time. Great teacher in my opinon

i went to his lectures first and last day and that's about it. all you have to do is go to lab that;s where u learn all the stuff.

This was one of the easiest math-related college classes I have ever taken. It's simple statistics. Prof Singer spends too much time drilling in simple concepts, so the lectures are a drag. The lab is where you learn everything and even then it's not that much. And do the minimum required HW problems and you'll be fine.

Very clear professor--goes over sample test questions repeatedly so there is no wondering what will be on the exam. Go to the lecture and the RCT for an A or just go to the RCT for a B or C.

good teacher. he gives way too many examples to help the slow people. he gives short cut equations and skips parts of the book he doesnt think are important. go to class for a few practice problems and youll be set for the course

as long as you attend recitation and go over the examples and harvey's slides you can easily keep up with an A. but the questions on the tests are little tricky because of the wordings

Man, lecture was boring. While he knows his subject matter, I was in the back deciding how I could off myself because there are no breaks and he often runs overtime in a 2:40 lecture. Recitations are the key to a good grade in this class.

Professor Singer is incredibly knowledgable in this course. He's a really smart guy and interesting to listen to because he is so smart. He will go above and beyond for you and want you to understand the material. Explains everything crystal clear. Take Professor Singer vs. the other Desc. teachers.

Singer definitely knows the material and loves to hear himself talk for extended periods of time. But he is more than willing to help you with any questions. The actual lectures don't help you much because they are terribly boring and difficult to pay attention thru. Pay attention in the recitations and do your homework and you'll do fine.

statistics is in general a boring subject. but singer tries his best to make it interesting. he gives examples when statistics were used in some very important events. lectures are boring and LOOOONG but VERY helpful. they build the basis for the REC.

Singer is okay. Lectures are boring as hell and you have to go because he has lecture quizzes..sometimes he is entertaining..most of the time he isn't. I learned a lot, but most of it was in recitation.

Dr. Singer is freakin' hysterical. His jokes are outdated and over-played, but they make class actually worth going to. Unfortunately the only reason to go to class would be to pay attention occasionally and listen to his corny jokes. He's easy and understands the material. Tests are simple and common sense. Take him, you'll laugh.

Like most other people have said the lectures are nearly impossible to follow. I just brought movies and watched them on my laptop, and got credit for being there during his pop-quizzes(write your name on a piece of paper and you get 20 points). Practice tests have same questions as the real tests just study them and go to Rec and you'll be fine

He talks way toooo much! The class does not need to be that long. He could condense his slides into half the amount and we would understand it better. He NEVER lets you out early, even when he says he will.

Lectures were dull--be sure to keep yourself entertained or busy. Gives pop quizzes (basically free points) during some lectures, which is why most people show up. He's a fair grader, though. Homework will get progressively harder. His slides reflect what's in the book, and sometimes other formulas to make some problems easier. Good prof. overall.

I'll just get to the point..Class is EXTREMELY BORING, but if you can stay up for up to 20 minutes of each lecture you will be on top of your game..the rest of lecture is him repeating what he said over, and over, and over again..tests & quizzes are a joke & they r pointless, to wrap it all up if u can do 5th grade math this what you will be doing

Singer is a pretty nice guy, always willing to answer questions. Lectures make you want to shoot yourself but at least the material is pretty easy. Like that other guy said, if you can do 5th grade math you'll do fine in the class. Overall, boring as hell but easy

He's such a great professor who knows his subject inside out and teaches it very well. He is extremely helpful and positive. He has a high expectation of his studetns and wants his students to do very well. I normally don't doe well in math like classes but I got an A in his class b/c he believed in me, and helped me a lot during office hours.

He knows his stuff and his tests are brutal. However he will bend over backwards to help you if you go see him. The LAB is where you learn all the real stuff..but he gives pop quizzes that forces you to go to the lecture. He put EVERYTHING online, which is good because he goes over stuff in the lecture to fast.

He puts more information on blackboard than any human could read in two lifetimes. He definitely knows the material and seems to be a really smart guy. Go to lab to work problems and this class will be no problem. Overall, he is a good teacher.

Nice guy, but takes him 2.5hrs to teach what should take 30 minutes. I have NEVER fallen asleep in a class until this one. Good thing there's recitation, that's where you really learn. He knows people will start skipping so he gives random attendance quizzes. Tests are straight forward and easy. Cheat sheet allowed.

If you find word problems challenging,this will not be easy material for you.That was my problem.However,this is a great professor,who wants you to succeed,and is open to questions on email,after class or by appt. I recommend him.He tries to make lecture as stimulating as possible.His slides may seem overwhelming, but they are better than the book!

He's funny if you're paying attention. His lectures are pretty boring but they are EXTREMELY relevant to what the tests and quizzes are, contrary to what other posts say. He has 6 recitation quizzes, 5 lecture quizzes and 3 tests. All of which he allows you a one page cheat sheet. He has 10 homeworks which are pretty simple as well.

BBBOORRRIIINNGGG!!! Lecture is by far the worst I've ever had. Lab TA's are all Indian and hard to understand. I'm Indian and could barely understand them. Singer gives pop-quizes which are a free 20 pts. Quizes are tough, Exam 2 is hard as hell. I would not recommend skipping class unless you can teach yourself out the book

Got an A, BUT I HATED this class. If I hear of the game craps again or the roll of dice through a mic. again I might lose it. You will have a test and have hw due on the same day on diff chapters many times.You will NOT get anything back on time and will not be able to keep most of the return material. Professor Singer is great I took two classes with him OM210 and 301. I just studied his slides and made sure how to do the homework and I did really well in both classes. Don't even need to buy the book except for assigned hw problems. He has lot of knowledge I wish he taught more courses. One of great professors at Mason and extremley helpfull.

I took stats in high school so this class was easy for me but I don't think it wouldve mattered. HW's easy, posts worked out example problems on blackboard if you dont know how to do them. Tells you exactly which slides cover each quiz and test. You have to go to lecture only because he gives random lecture quizzes (sign your name on a paper).

Tends to keep you in class for a long time, drones on and on with lectures. Funny guy though.

Professor Singer is THE BEST professor I have ever come across. He will go out of his way to make sure his student succeed. He even took time out on Saturday to prepare us for our final exam. I would highly recommend him. GMU should be proud to have a professor like him.

I really Like this professor, Excuse me guys if you dont find his sample tests helpful, but it is really helpful as long as you go to his lecture and listen. It is not a hard class. Just show up, do your homework and You will be just fine. He is a really nice guy. People who complaint usually are those who dont go to class.(period)

Free 20 point lecture quizzes which you get for showing up so don't skip. Allows cheat sheets on tests and quizzes. You will get screwed depending on your recitation TA, mine was Madhu, very hard to understand verbally and in his writing. I probably got a C in his class despite having an A before the final. It is heavily weighted and HARD!

This is not a class for dummies. You have to study with pen and paper or you'll forge the methods. The tests are mathematical and require handwritten essay-like answers. The final is insane because it is worth 400 points while the other tests are worth only 200. Odd way to grade for non-cumulative tests. The TA's grade crazy.

So, the first time I took this class, I bombed the final because I didn't study and got a D in the class. The second time around, I did all my hw, only went to recitation to turn in homework and take quizzes, then leave. I attended maybe 70% of the lectures. Keep up with the homework, study for quizzes and exams(plenty of practice!). I got an A!

How can anyone fail this class? He gives you sample homeworks and tests and he lets you have a cheat sheet for every test and quiz. All you need to do is write down the formulas and know how to plug the numbers in. He is very boring and talks forever but if you just go to class and try to understand the basic concepts it's a simple class.

You have to make an effort to get an A in this class, people. He gives you every opportunity to do well. The sample tests are exactly what the real tests contain. Took this in summer, no recitation. Was pretty intense but worth it to get it over with in 4 1/2 weeks.

VERY happy this class is over. Hard class, but if you take a genuine interest in it, Prof. Singer will take a genuine interest in you. I'm glad there was a recitation, or else I would not have passed. I learned much more in the recitation. Our TA went over the most important info, where the Prof. can take a while on not much info.

This professor is a Genius. The guy knows the subject. Most students have lost the sense of what being a student means so, if you are the kind of student who loves sleeping in class you are screwed and need to make some changes. first time i leave a review. He talks non-stop for 3 hour-class. People fall asleep every time. His slides are extremely long with word to word. You have to memorize 500 slides for each test. He was nice at the beginning of the semester then became so rude and mean when giving the tests. He will not answer anything during the tests and make the atmosphere very heavy.

Professor Singer is a great teacher. Yes, he goes on and on but he knows that. He's a talker! Lectures can be boring but he is very helpful. The TA are also very helpful. Very knowledge and passoniate about teaching. I just wish students weren't so rude at times. Take him you won't regret it!

OM301: Exam is pretty straight forward. Textbook is useless, but needed for HW, study his slides and BB materials. Exams are composed of Mult-choices and 2 calculation probs. Lectures drag on, but his real business stories are interesting.VERY STRICT on tardiness, he will not accept tardiness for exams. There are random attendance sign ups too.

As long as you complete the sample tests, study for quizzes, attend all classes and do all homework, you will get an A too. If you aren't willing to do ALL of those things, this will not be an easy class for you.

Took over summer. Great professor and one of the few quality professors the SOM has. You have to work for your grade, but he is always willing to help you.Review the sample tests, do the homework, and you should have no problem getting a good grade in this class.

U know i think he's a great nice kind teacher. He knows how to explain. while he explains problems, he comments on what that firm is so it's like we're learning other stuff too besides statistics that's helpful for busines ppl. his lecture does get boring if U don't focus! so u better focus and take it easy.n u'll be good if u dnt get intimidated

Take him in the summer. This class is an easy A if you take some time outside of class to study. You don't really need the textbook, his powerpoints explain the key functions needed. I am horrible at math but I was able to breeze through this class.

Extremely helpful professor. Knows his stuff. Need to buy book and attend lectures. 3 take home tests were given. Very detail oriented excel and minitab based tests, but straightforward if you go to class. I would recommend this to anyone needed a good elective. Hw comes straight from book problems.

He spend the whole first class (3 hours) talking about his resume. He's annoying and boring. He IS very clear and organized. I didn't attend very many of his leftures cause I had a great recitation professor. I would take him again, even though he kinda drove me nuts.. he is very educated with the subject.

He is a great guy. If you show up to class, he definitely notices that and will give you credit by the end of the semester. I don't know why people rated him badly. I took his class in the summer. And this is the most enjoyable class I took in GMU so far. Statistic is not easy and this is 4 credits class. If you study hard and follow his guidance, you should be fine. He is very helpful when you need his help. Do all HWs and sample exams, you will get at least B.

Not the best teacher I have had. What he asks of the quizzes and tests are things that he hasn't taught us how to answer in such a short time period. Doesn't really teach. USE THE BOOK! He goes through a lot of small examples in class but doesn't really help when it comes to quiz time and exam time. Try and take another teacher.

God... This guy is one terribly boring guy... Like the stuffs are so easy that you'll fall asleep. There are classes that you can't go manly, but this one you definitely should! Oh, all classes are mandatory so find a friend you can chat for 2 hours.

His lectures can be boring but are full of information. However, you can basically teach yourself using his slides he posts online. Quizzes and test are simple because he lets you have a cheat sheet. Dr. Singer is a good professor, but it was more important to go to recitation that the lecture. The recitation TA's are really good at teaching the material. Lecture gets a bit boring at times, but Dr. Singer has a great sense of humor.

Professor Singer is very straightforward and organized. Attendance is mandatory. There will be pop quizes in the lecture.Make sure you follow his slides, attend all his lectures, do the homework and you will do fine. There are 3 tests and the second and the last one are not easy. This is my second attempt at Professor Singer's class. My first time my sentiments matched the majority of these reviews. However, if you do the homework and samples he provides everything makes sense. Also, I have a feeling he saw all the posts about "cheat sheets allowed" and this semester he has FORBIDDEN their use. Do your homework and show up.

Dr Singer is by far the best professor that I have ever had!! He teaches stats in an easy to understand format. Even though I previously took stats, which sadly did not transfer, I have learned many things in his class. Stats is boring by itself its not Dr Singers fault. He has a wonderful sense of humor that make his lectures fun and interesting.

Great teacher. Really cares about his students and is willing to work with you and your schedule. If you do the problems and study, the material is logical. If you do not do any work, you will get lost.

Course begins with easy ideas to grasp but the final is incredibly difficult. Professor no longer lets students use any notes or the text during exams. Very time-consuming studying ideas and applications. Professor Singer lectures too much without actually showing how to do problems or getting to the point. Prepare to put in lots of time.

The recitation instructor will teach you as much as there is to know. Class is easy if you can understand examples. Certainly suggest doing the practice questions he gives you and staying up with the homework. Singer is an awesome guy. Yes Yes, you are going to have to study. I didnt stop studying after the first week and you shouldn't either.

He is the best OM PROF(s) along with Prof.Pendola. Truly passionate to help his students and avail during non office hr. Subject is confusing with math calc, but prof explains in class. 3 take-home exams but do them in parts. He WILL help you setup model and guide you if you are stuck, so ASK. Tough class though but learned heck of a lot.

He is a very good professor, if you go to class you WILL learn enough to get an A. He posts sample exams that are just like the exams on Blackboard. Can be rude but doesn't mean to be. He is one of the best teachers in the School of Business. He gives you EVERYTHING you need to do well. Answers to the homework problems and sample exams made it so that I actually learned something because I knew I was doing the problems correctly. The people saying he is rude were probably the ones asking dumb questions. Highly recommend him.

He's quite knowledgeable and will be helpful if he thinks you're trying. If you show up to each class, pay attention, and try to engage, you will be fine. He goes out of his way to help students he likes. But he also gives a hard time to those he's labeled as slackers. Very approachable in his office after class.

He has about 30 minutes worth of information for every two hour lecture. Other than that he is a very good teacher. He has a very dry sense of humor which can make him seem like a jerk but don't be intimidated, he is very willing to help.

Although the lectures can drag on and the TA's aren't much help, Prof Singer runs a well organized class. He tells you exactly what's on the quiz's and tests. Know the in's and out's of the practice tests he gives and you'll get a solid A. He demands and earns respect from the student's, doesn't tolerate disruption, but will answer questions.

Speaks about irrelevant stuff just to hold lecture the entire time. The final is easy if you study.

This was my first Stats class, and I was so confused in the beginning. I studied a lot and asked questions when I needed to, and he was extremely helpful and he does care.

The clicker quiz are given at the very end most of the time. Bring other class work to do in the lecture and just wait until he starts doing problems and copy them as he does them (usually an hour in he will start a problem). Attend the labs, take notes and do the homework. Don't fall behind - it gets more difficult

His tests can be confusing because they are not worded the same way as the text book and he throws a lot of information at you so it takes some time to decipher what you need to know. Otherwise he makes this class painless, if you listen to what he is saying you'll do good.

Great professor, very knowledgeable and helpful with students. Class starts out easy but becomes extremely difficult and complicated, esp if you've never taken a stats course. He provides ALL of the resources (sample exams, homework solutionscalculations, formulas) to pass wan A, you just have to put them to use.

OM210 is a very easy and straight forward class and Professor Singer is very helpful. His lecture is extremely clear, detailed and slow, and he shows every step to solve a problem. Once I understand the concept, I don't even need do any review before quizzes or exam. Just follow the professor on his lecture & do the homework. Understanding matters.

Come to class prepared, get ready to read and listen attentively. Great professor you just have to adapt to his style of teaching and humor.

Professor Singer is awesome. The negative reviews are from lazy students who don't study and don't attend class and expect an A or B. He gives sample exams. If you get a bad grade after viewing his sample exams, then you are truly stupid and lazy and deserve whatever bad grade you get. His lectures and notes are clear and he is willing to help.

I took professor Singer over the summer and he was great! While I did have to work very hard for my grade, I found that he gave me most of the tools I needed to succeed (i.e. practice exams, step-by-step problem solving etc.). Don't let his yelling get to you, DO try to attend class every session, and do all the practice exams and homework.

I really enjoyed Professor Singer and would take him again if there was another class he tough that I needed. He can seem rough around the edges but he is actually very caring. Be personable with him and you will see a side that a lot of other raters didn't. He tells bad jokes that help keep you alert during lecture.

I expected the worst from these reviews but I really liked him. Everything is pretty organized and you know what to study. Study off the PPT, do the homework, practice the problems a few times and you can get an A. I recommend showing up 'cause he explains the problems and may give pop quizzes where only the people in attendance can get an A.

I do not understand how anyone can give him a bad review. He is a great professor, very passionate about what he does and wants everyone to pass. If you are respectful and show up to class on time each day like you are supposed to, there is no reason why you should fail. I did not study too hard for the 3 exams and I received A's and a B on them

Harvey's lectures are enjoyable to listen to, even if the content is boring. Gives little homework, one 10-questioner per chapter, and its all online that you gotta buy access to. Lenient grader, some trick questions in his exams but otherwise easy to get at least an A- on em.

Not a bad class but long lectures. Tests are off PP slides (a lot) and text book examples he does in class so it helps to be there, he also gives credit for attendance.

You will either love Harvey, or you will hate him. Theres no middle ground. I loved him, however. Very caring guy, and a very dry and sharp sense of humor. This class is straight forward, just make sure you attend EVERY class after the midterm as there are pop quizzes almost every class. Also, check blackboard every week as he hides announcements

Singer is a fine professor, but I just found the OM course to be very dry and boring. Very definition-oriented. Read through the PPTs and practice problems in the textbook and you should do fine, but I'm just glad I'm not an OM major.

I highly enjoyed his course. The slideshows are long but just take notes on the key points and it'll cover what you need to know. Exams have problems like the homework, do those and you'll be fine. He gives you the formulas so if you did the hw at all, you'll remember how it works. Great guy who cares about the students and has a sense of humor too

This class is very easy to pass. Attendance isnt required however, he does have quizzes that he "announces" but you need to be in class to hear that announcement. Exams and quizzes are easy and he makes the topic and course enjoyable for the 3 hour lecture.

Best professor I've ever had!

Slide heavy but the course isnt bad. Prof Singer sets you up to pass. Quizzes are group activities that prepare you for test problems and you get full credit for just being there. His tests arent to bad and he honestly makes class pretty interesting for a 7:30am class. Would recommend him over the other OM teachers.

4/5 quizzes were group activities and as long as you were there that day you get 100% credit for it. HW is easy, exams are kinda tough because some of his Powerpoints have 80+ slides. He's a nice guy though with corny jokes so I'm not sure why people said he was rude. But I managed to finish with a B in this class even tho I got 70's on all 3 exams

Prof. Singer is a solid professor. His quizzes were essentially group assignments that where you show up and pass. He also lets you know exactly what's gonna be on each exam in terms of content and what slides to study. Just show up and enjoy his grumpy demeanor and jokes and you will pass.

Singer was funny to listen to in lectures and HW was always easy and helpful for test expectations. Never used the textbook except for one HW problem. Studied straight from slides. Make sure to study in advance because the powerpoints go up to 100 slides each and it can be daunting if you wait. Test was hard with lots of trick questions, so study!

hilarious and approachable professor. heavy long lectures. hw is due online every sunday, super easy. 2 exams and 5 quizzes. the quizzes he will give everyone a 100 for those who show up to class that day. exams are easy, study the online hw problems and quizzes. no group project. easy, fun class and he cares about his students a lot!

He curves a lot and he gave has a huge curve on the final exam.

So many jokes. He really tries to lighten the mood. He is amazing. Really tries to explain everything. Tough grader but nice.

Professor Harvey is kind and caring. He understands what we are going through as students and is very flexible. I don't understand why he has any negative reviews honestly, probably lazy students. His tests come directly from the powerpoints/lectures and are long, but easy. Take him for sure.

Best Professor at Mason. He posted all lecture videos, was available when needed. Attend office hours! Super helpful! Easy Quizzes and Exams! Do the work and you'll do well!

I was very hesitant to take his class because of some reviews. But im glad I took him!! He's a great professor. Class isn't too hard and he is very organized. Send reminders of assignments been due. Gives you enough time to turn assignments in.

He was a great professor, and I was honored to take his class. He will give you all the lectures and give you sample questions. If you had taken the time to study, you would have at least earned a B. The following bad rating only shows that they did not take the lesson seriously and did not study properly.

Make sure to understand the calculations and read both the textbook and powerpoints. Prepare for the quizzes and tests by practicing the calculations. I would have done better in the class had I done this from the start. Watch his lecture videos if you need to but I think the powerpoint and textbook provides enough info.

The material is so boring but he is definitely not. He has a great sense of humor and is a fantastic teacher. If only he had better office hours, then he would've been perfect (which he basically is). You can tell hes from NY from his accent.

You will have assignments which are easy given that you have multiple tries to get the answer right. You will also have 5 quizzes. For my class we only had to do 3 and he awarded 40 points (the value of the quizzes) for the other 2 quizzes without having to do any work. There are 3 exams (2 midterms and one final). Overall great professor.

Professor Singer is super sweet and cares a lot about his students. I went to his office hours quite a bit and he was happy to answer any questions I had. He also responded to my emails super quick (even on weekends). The class was super easy, and he wants to help his students pass, I seriously wish I had this professor for every class.

Very easy weekly assignments. Tests are not that difficult and has no lockdown.

1 group project & homeworks graded only for effort & completion - reviews answers so everyone can get 100%. Lectures are very dense but he's funny and gives real-world examples. Midterm & final are HUGE part of final grade - all multiple choice & from his lectures and slides, so study those well! He curves exam grades. Extra credit for evaluation.

He really tries to make a boring subject interesting and really wants his students to pass, grades on the curve and gives extra credit, the class is boring but he's really passionate about what he teaches
