Stromberg is by far the best teacher I've ever had. I got A's in both of his classes, and got by with rarely doing any of the reading, eventhough you'll need to do it for his quizzes. Just take good notes and you'll be set.

LOVED his class... I was dreading history, but now I want to take another one of his classes! I don't understand when someone said his facts are wrong- It's HISTORY! He always explained both sides to every senerio. 3 "pop" quizes (NOT pop) and 3 essay tests, take good notes, study, and enjoy!

He is one of the most entertaining teachers I have ever taken, but his facts are Exaggerrated. I visited the Little Bighorn National park in Montana and fought out that some thing I was told like 250 of Custers men wasn't totally true. He tells you what you have to do to get a good grade.

Mr. Stromberg is a wonderful professor and humorist. He teaches very coherently and keeps the class period interesting. If you are given the opportunity and you are willing to put in the work you should definitely take this class.

His lecture is very entertaining and will keep you awake. However I don't recommend him to international students. The eassy tests are just too difficult for non-native english speakers eventhough you study hard (Like I did).

This has got to be one of the best teachers EVER! If you dont like history, you will love History. If you think classes are boring, you will think twice when youre done taking this class. Be careful, his essays tests are not easy. You want a good grade: Go to class, take notes, and READ THE BOOK!

He is the most amazing teacher! The people who do not do well or complain about his essay exams are just afraid of a little work, which is what they need to transfer. Essay exams are how you are tested in the UC schools and Stromberg prepares you. He's great and inspiring!

He makes history fun which is great but if you really want the "A" don't risk taking him. It's a pretty easy "B" but a hard "A". It's all essay tests and if you mess up on the first one it's over. Go to him for extra help he likes to see you care. Don't bother reasoning for a better grade.

Take him anyway! He is entertaining, and that's hard to come by in a history class. His class is very hard though, so do not take it if you're not willing to read and study a lot, and then come back on here and give him bad ratings. You were warned! But if you're willing to work hard, take him!

This guy is AMAZING! he's very funny and interesting. I took him for both history 11 and 12 and both times the class was packed to the brim. only 2% of the class ever drops which speaks very highly. Fair and entertaining. Lots of reading required, but he's so funny it doesn't matter.

read, take notes in the lectures-go to class! tests are hard if you don't study a lot and really KNOW the material. quizzes are easy if you read..he lets you know a week or in advance before a quiz.

I had Stromberg for History 11 & 12. He is an amazing teacher! He has been doing this so long that he doesn?t even teach from lecture notes anymore. He has everything memorized. His tests aren?t that bad if you read and take excellent notes.

Professor Stromberg, thank you! He made a class which I thought would be very hard but which I was very interested in very exciting and easy. Though the material was quite easy, you need to study the notes, read the text, and pay attention to his fun and easy to understand lecture to pass. I can't wait to have him for Hist 12 this Fall. Take him!

Yea he reports history similarly to CNN, or Fox. A very biased view of US history. He tries to make light of all the atrocities US have done ex:indians,internmentcamps. He might actually brainwash few students from his stupid comments in2 believing him. But he's quite a character and his comments are worth a laugh. Gullible students beware.

Best professor I have had despite having been to a UC. Engaging, knowledgeable, and commands control over the subject. A real rarity among teachers and professors. Straightforward but very clear about what he expects, yet makes himself as available as possible to his students. Makes you laugh even at 8 a.m.

if history interests you, take this class. i got B's from him by just taking good notes and studying off them. as long as you can pay attention in class, you should be guaranteed at least a B.

Pro. Strombergh is on of the best instructors @ smc, second only to my Dr. Gunn. He is hallarious and know stuff about history that most people don't even think of. He tells the real deal and grades with complete fairness, but you better READ! He is strict on that and it's only fair cuz he gives a grade a lecture. TAKE HIM! It will change ur life.

Most damn entertaining class I've taken in a long time. Stromberg is a really goofball. He makes really corny jokes, but they rock. This guy will show you the real deal on American history. His lectures are very interesting and fast paced.

Always hated history from the depths of my heart, until I took his class. He's halarious, interesting & informative. Gives 3 short-answer/essay tests, but grades them very fairly. Also gives 3 surprise quizes from the book but warns a week in advance. Just read the book(s). I honestly say, that I wish he could only teach all of my classes.

he's nice man, but the tests are kind of hard. if getting good grade is ur first goal, its not recommended. but if u wanna enjoy listening to the history lectures, it's good choice.. but remember the tests are not so easy u have to read the textbook, and he's strict grade giver..

This prof makes Hist soooo entertaining! The only problem is, he is a ridiculously hard grader! I worked my BUTT off the entire semester and I worked harder for the final and I got a "C"! The first "C" I've gotten in like a year and a half! I've gotten better grades w/ MUCH harder professors.

I took this class over summer session, and at the begining I thought I would DIE. Just took Stromberg's final today and I find myself coming out very confidently. DO THE READING. You /can/ get by without it, but just BARELY. Stromber's a funny guy, and I've heard that he's retiring soon. If you're thinking about taking him, DO IT.

By far the best professor/teacher I've ever had. Being in his class is like watching a good movie. The way he lectures is like telling you one of the most interesting stories you've ever heard. Getting a good grade in this class is not easy, but you can score high if you study your notes and READ the book. he will not try to trick you.

The man tells it like it is with a great sense of humor. He tells the side of history that the books pass over and makes it something you actually want to listen to. He doesn't ask more than you can give and expects nothing less. The tests are in class essays with three i.d's and an essay and all the topics are from lecture or covered in the book.

Wow, I can't believe someone actually did not recommend him. I think Stromberg is GREAT. His lectures are VERY interesting and you learn alot. There was not one day in class that I was bored. He cracks jokes to keep you entertained. You have to study alot and read the book. I believe he is a lil hard grader, but his class is definately recommended

Very demanding teacher, says all the time how many people won't pass the class, really good for interested in history but not for others who want to take for IGETC. This class seems like a 8-10 unit class or even more I really don't like history and I think its not fair for those who are takeing it for a requirement.

The best history teacher you could take. Took the class in summer so it was a bit tougher. You will come out of his class really learning something. Before his class, I hated history. Although I still hate history, the way he teaches drags you in and he makes everything very interesting. There are 3 "pop" quizzes so you MUST do the readings. The tests aren't hard and the final isn't cumulative. He is a great teacher, TAKE HIM!

Great Teacher. All you have to do is read the book and you will be fine. He gives you plenty of notes and his test are very fair. If there's a pop quiz coming up, he will tell you what to read and when the test is. He will usually say "ignore the part of the chapter that focuses on such and such" so you don't even have to read the whole chapter

Stromberg is awesome! You have to read the chapters on time & take plenty of notes, but he makes the class entertaining. He makes it very clear how much work you need to put in and when you'll be having quizzes. He likes to see what you know not what you don't know. I worked real hard & got an A.

If yer wondering if his lectures match with tests; they really do. The tests are done on blue books and broken down into two sections which he goes thru, day before exam day. focus on Laws, people,concepts frm books& lectures, vomit it all up (correctly) and you'll get a hi grade.Take distinct notes

i would say, he should be the background of what professor should be. he's lectures are amazing, and fair player. tests are based on the lecture and readings. if you dont follow assigned reading then..seriously, you need to work your butt off to catch up. overall i am very enjoying his class, although catching up with reading was really a pain...

Great teacher, his lectures are unforgettable as he is very clear and simplifies difficult concepts. his tests are %90 of the grade which generally focus on his lectures (be sure to include EVERY detail he asks for) and has "strageties" in his test to see if you did did the reading. He is extremely funny and a very likeable man.

Stromberg is a nice guy, but will lecture nearly every class for 10 mins about reading the book. It's pretty irritating. He gets annoyed when nobody has read the book, but you do need to keep up because you can't pass by lecture notes only. I personally did pass but read about 3/4 of the book.

this guy is funny everything he says is like story format..i hate history but would take a class with him again... be SURE TO WRITE EVERYTHING HE SAYS... and MEMORIZE YOUR NOTES they'll save you come test time... its only really necessary to read the book for quizzes and be sure to read the smaller book!

I actually looked forward to Harvey Stromberg's class every week! Taking his class is like getting a free comedy show for an hour and a half (he even commented on this website the first day). Very helpful and gives great lectures. You DO need to read the book however, or you won't pass. 3 essay exams, very fair, and a few "pop" quizzes. YES OR NO?!

Love this man! He is why I am a history major today. His lectures are concise and interesting and he really loves what he teaches. I have a serious issue with teachers who have to read off of a page to be able to lecture. If you write down everything he says, you will get an A. Simple as that. I didn't open the book once and I aced all three tests.

His lectures are always insightful & entertaining, but he seems mentally unstable, which affects his grading and use of class time. I really liked him at first, but once he started spending time berating us rather than teaching, I felt a little insulted. There's no need to take out your anger on students. Perhaps he's just trying to motivate us...

Wonderful professor. Comes to class every day with energy and always very clear. He is extremely knowledgeable about the subjects he teaches. Read the textbook and take good notes and you can get an A. If he tells you to focus on something or to study a certain part of the text or notes, definitely do it. He is very straight forward.

Honestly the best professor I ever had. Hilarious, insightful,and fair tests. He expects alot but his lectures are great. Took his class for general education requirements even though I hated history. Took a second class with him just for fun. I'm really sorry he's gone.
