Professor Hasan is a really nice person, he is easy going and will give a lot of extra credit in this class. The class itself is not hard since its only a 1 level course, if you are ok with microecon you will be good for this. Im sorry to hear the other persons situation, but i think homework is still required for complete a course.
This man is one of the most hard to listen to people. Easy class but his lectures are long and he is so monotone its hard to pay attention
the test is exactly like the practice test, if you do the work you will be completely fine
It is a difficult course but he makes it easy to understand. Tests are based on the practice tests he posts before each exam. Just attend the lectures and do the practice exams and you will be fine.
His class is super great! He offers attendance bonus points through Socrative and you can still earn points even if you miss the questions. He also allows you to get the most points out of your homework attempts instead of the average, as well as offering partial credit for late homework. His tests are almost the same to his practice tests he gives
I'm not very good at econ, but he taught super well. If you go to class and actually do the homework it's pretty easy.
A really nice guy but a pretty dull lecturer. Luckily his exams are super easy and he's really generous with extra credit, so it's not like he made life difficult. His lectures just tend to be pretty slow and repetitive, which I guess could be good if you're having trouble understanding but most of the time it just ended up boring.
He literally reads off the slides, but he grades so easily it's not even funny. He posts the slides he reads off of on blackboard so even if you don't show up it's fine.
genuine guy and wants his students to do well. tests are easy if you go to the lecture before and pay attention because he does the practice exam which is almost identical to the test and he explains every answer. offers so much extra credit its insane. lectures can be boring but attendance isnt required and he posts all notes and slides
Hasan Isomitdinov is probably the best economics teacher there is. He may not be the most interesting lecturer, but he has an undeniable charm that never fails to entertain. Either way, he is an absolute inspiration to all. If you're not an Econ major, you might be after his class. You will pass his class if you study. Hasan forever!
Pretty good overall. Lectures can get boring but as long as you somewhat try youll be fine.
Tests are exactly like reviews and insane amount of extra credit. Easy a
I personally struggled in his class because I am just not the best at math and econ. But, he was really nice and helpful during office hours. Attendance is not mandatory but going to class helps you stay on track and he occasionally gives bonus points. Tests were similar to the reviews but watch out because he would change a few words.
ECON 110 with Hasan was a great experience. He is very reachable outside class, explains things clearly, and as long as you do well on the homework and study a little for the tests, you will do fine.
Hasan is a pretty good professor. He is accessible outside of class and seems to really care about his students. His only downside is that his lectures are pretty boring. Other than that, the class is fairly easy and he is willing to make it as easy as possible. Attendance isn't mandatory but he does give extra credit occasionally.
I love him hes amazing and always willing to help. Not a lot of upperclassmen had him so I was scared but hes super cool and understandable!
I would definitely recommend taking Hasan for EC 110. He sends out practice tests before each exam which have 80% of the same questions as the real exam and his review sessions before the tests are very helpful. His lectures are boring but you can pass without attending. His is very nice and only gives homework once a week and it is usually easy.
Hasan is overall pretty solid. He gives lots of extra credit both in class and for homework, uploads all the presentation material, provides practice tests that are very similar to the actual ones, and is flexible with changes to the grading scheme. Only thing is his lectures can be mind-numbingly boring. Still, an easy A if you need the class.
Hasan is overall a great guy who genuinely cares about his students. As others have said his lectures are indeed quite dull, but he doesn't skip over anything and if you pay attention the homework and tests should be a breeze. I never really paid attention in class/skipped occasionally and still did fine since he posts the slideshow on Blackboard.
Just learn the Econ and you get an easy A+. Homework bonus gives a lot of points and is easy to get a 100 on all homeworks. Do the homework and you will pass
Great Professor, super flexible when it comes to real world situations and allowed me to make up two test due to unfortunate situations. I would highly recommend him. A lot of bonus points and takes care of problems if you alert him about them.
Dr. Isomitdinov is an AMAZING teacher. This class is quite literally one of the easiest classes you could take at UA. He offers so much extra credit, gives bonus points to those to come to class, (although it is not mandatory) and posts study guides for each test. These study guides are exactly like the test. Take him for an easy A!
Hasan is the GOAT
One the best econ profs I have taken so far
Hasan is amazing! This man deserves a raise!
I LOVE HASAN! I had him for Micro and built my schedule around his Macro class so I could have him for that too. GO TO CLASS! He offers so much extra credit if you simply show up to class, with how much effort I put into it (not a lot,) all the extra credit he offered raised my B to an A. He's also just a really nice guy, love him.
Hasan is the best econ professor you can take. Clearly explains the material. If you don't go to class you may struggle with the material if you don't understand econ that well. Very quick responder to emails. Assigns homework and gives you a week to do it. Tests with lockdown browser and webcam!
Professor Isomitdinov is a funny guy and explains the material well in class. His lectures can get a little boring sometimes, but it may just be the nature of the material. Our class did badly on a test so he curved it and added an extra opportunity to raise your grade, which was super helpful. Extra credit opportunities in most lectures.
Great teacher. Took him for both 110 & 111. I got an A in 110 and an A plus in 111. I highly recommend him.
would definitely recommend for EC 110 or 111! grading criteria is very clear and if your someone like me who doesn't understand econ all that well, his tests are graded fairly (will curve if needed) and he provides practice tests before. also, provides extra credit and wants all of his students to do well; he's a great professor!
I have taken both Hasan and Zirlott, and though both are great, I would prefer Zirlott. Hasan is super nice and is clear about due dates and course requirements, but Zirlott has way more experience and it's very evident. Hasan's tests were easier, but Zirlott's extra credit was insanely helpful.
Hasan is the best teacher to have for any Econ class you are taking. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and does not care about grading. His exams are almost identical to the practice exams that he gives out. Attendance is not mandatory but sometimes he does a surprise quiz and gives you extra points if you are in class to take it.
Hasan has a dry sense of humor that makes class fun. His lectures aren't super necessary, but he offers frequent extra credit just for being in class. Review days he tells you pretty much what is going to be on the exam. Enjoyable professor for a boring subject.
Hasan offers a lot of extra credit for attendance, and will curve exams as needed. Classes are a bit dry, but that is more due to the material than teaching style. I took him at 5 so the class often felt a bit empty, but this was one of the classes I didn't have to agonize over to do well in.
Hasan is a great person and always accessible for help outside of class. If you email him and ask for help you will get a timely answer and he wants you to succeed. Sometimes gets a little distracted when lecturing, but good information from lectures. Tests are hard, but similar to practice test.
Hasan is the goat. Don't ever disrespect the legend.
Hasan is the worst professor I've had at Bama so far. In my experience, his lectures have little to no correlation to homework assignments. You only get the "extra credit" for attendance if you get the correct answers on his daily Socrative quizzes, which he doesn't show. The textbook "required" is never mentioned in class and barely helps.
Hasan is a great guy but in my opinion he didn't teach the class well. He definitely was using a program for the homework he was unfamiliar with, as he would do a few questions and class and often get them wrong. it was long and didn't correlate to the exams. other then that he's fine, but not as easy a prof as the other guy for this course
Lectures were all over the place and he consistently got answers wrong when helping my class w hw. Office hours are useless he's no help, just tells you to try harder. Also went to econ tutoring and the whole room was filled w students that had him as a teacher and needed help. One hw assignment per chapter and extra credit opps for going to class
Overall very easy class. There are practice exams with pretty much the same questions before all the tests. Attendance isn't mandatory but extra credit is available if you go to class.
Very nice professor and SO MUCH extra credit. I will agree with some of the other reviews that his lectures can sometimes be hard to follow, but at the same time I feel like that is just common when it comes to econ courses. He gives out reviews for each tests which are helpful. As long as you do the homework, & do the extra credit, you will be ok.
Hasan was great! Attendance isn't mandatory, but I recommend going if only to do your homework because you get bonus points for going. His lectures are hard to follow, but the content is easy enough to get by doing the reviews and homework. Tests are easy if you do the reviews. He always answers emails and is very helpful.
Hasan is by far the chillest professor ever. I can agree with some of the other reviews that his lectures can be dry, but he always posts exactly what he goes over in a pdf. There is HW that is somewhat difficult because of the software used. He posts practice tests that are nearly identical to real test. SOOOO much extra credit; almost 10% worth.
His class was ok. tests were hard, could probs find a better teacher
He gives so much extra credit. There are extra credit quizzes at end of most classes and extra credit homework. Practice tests are also very similar to exams.
Amazing professor. Someone who wants his students to do well.
AMAZING
He's fine, Hasan offers a ton of extra credit if you just go to class. I think his tests are really hard but he gives a practice exam for you to prepare with.
Very fair teacher. Lectures can be boring, but he makes it very clear what we are meant to learn. Very understanding and flexible when things come up. I think he has a very clear and concise teaching style and doesn't make you do busy work. Tests are similar to the practice tests and gives in class extra credit participation points every class.
Beware, his lectures make no sense. The tests are hard. BUT, if you pay attention and go to class it will be easy! He offers so much extra credit for going to class, and some hw will be extra credit too. One exam and the final was online, lockdown, no cam. Its a hard course, but theres extra credit that can pull you up two grades.
Definitely recommend Hasan! He offers tons of extra credit and he posts test reviews that are identical (or the exact opposite) of the test questions. Participation isn't mandatory, but he offers Socrative points as extra credit during every class. Macro isn't the easiest, but his lectures are helpful. He is always willingly to help if you ask!
Hasan's class is not hard. It's not very interesting but he does try to make the content better by showing real world examples. The test can be challenging if you don't prepare, but he gives a practice test before every test so you can study. Easy class overall.
While his tests are difficult, Hasan offers a ton of extra credit so everyone can pass. You can get up to 2 extra points for each lecture just for showing up, which is a good motivator to get students to come to class.
Professor Isomitdinov is very nice and funny during his lectures, but they are boring and do not provide much information past what the powerpoint says. The homework is easy, but tests are difficult. If you attend class you get extra credit everyday, so it makes it much easier to pass.
Had him for both macro and micro and was exceptional in both. Show up to class, pay attention to lectures and homework and you will get an A+. Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives extra credit quizzes every class that will boost your final grade a ton. Overall great guy, easily accessible and is funny during lectures, take him if you can.
Hasan has some very good qualities about his lectures, although I found them difficult to follow due to how quick he goes by with class. If you're able to teach yourself the material, you can get an understanding and pass the tests. Overall, he's alright.
Great Professor! He uses all of class time and uses the iClicker app to track attendance and do in class questions (both of which give LOTS of extra credit). Tests are fairly easy if you do the homework, pay attention in class and do the practice exam. Something to think about, however, is that only tests and homework make up your grade.
Great guy, very funny guy. Tests were difficult, you are only graded based on tests and homework. That being said, if you attend the lectures you have in class questions that can be completed for extra credit. Lectures do not really help in terms of the test material but he does put a practice test out before every test.
Hes overall a good teacher however his study guides can be pretty different from the test and his lectures can be a little boring but he gives a ton of extra credit if you show up to class
A ton of bonus opportunities! you can get up to 2 bonus points every class. He also offers a lot of bonus homework. His teaching is sometimes hard to understand because he side tracks sometimes, but he is overall. a really great professor. His tests are pretty much the study guide. He will also send you the notes he takes if you ask. I Recommend!
Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives you so much bonus points if you come to class! He is so sweet and genuinely cares about his students. His lectures and homework both help a lot on the test, and the practice exams are almost exactly like the exams! I ended is class with an A+ because of all the bonus points he gives you! He is so great!
Tests were quite difficult, but the homework prepared you well. Attendance is not mandatory, but suggest you go as you will receive extra credit for in class participation.
Take Hasan for EC110! Definitely the best professor compared to others that I have heard. I got around 60 points of extra credit added onto my grade because he gives in-class bonus quizzes. So attendance isn't mandatory, but beneficial if you need the bonus!
Hasan IS the goat. He's probably my favorite professor at the school. His lectures are so funny and he makes the content very easy to understand. He also gives a TON of extra credit if you attend lectures (which are optional btw). The books are not mandatory so I didn't get it and wouldn't get it if you take this class. Hasan is the best!!
He is a great teacher, his lectures are helpful and can sometimes be funny. He gives a ton of in class bonus, so if you just go to class you will probably make over a 100.
Hasan is probably my favorite econ prof at UA. Gives tons of extra credit if you just show up to class and pay attention to what he says. Lectures can be boring at times but he brings up some real world examples that make it easier to understand. Practice tests he gives are super helpful towards the exams. Highly recommend him!
Although attendance was not mandatory, it was awarded with iClicker extra credit, which changed my grade from a C- to a B. Hasan is a professor that teaches with powerpoint but somehow manages to do it in an effective way.
Hasan gives out so much extra credit that even with consistently low B's on my tests I still made an A in his class. His lectures are not helpful so be prepared to teach yourself the material. Study guides are practically the test so if you understand that you are set. Homework can be difficult but not too bad- it is econ so it isn't easy!
A very good teacher understands the material well. Extra credit comes from in-class questions. Was able to get an A+ while not getting an A on any test because of extra credit. Highly recommend for intro to macroeconomics.
Hasan is a good choice, given that he gives SO much extra credit that it is almost impossible to fail if you apply yourself. Extra credit is given through iClicker questions in class, so attendance is not mandatory but very beneficial. Homework is relatively easy and tests are pretty straightforward if you take notes. Nice guy.
extra credit for attendance every class, can get 80s on every exam and still receive A+
Amazing guy. He also gives a stupid ammount of extra credit just for showing up to class. There was a second final exam that would replace your worst test grade which was cool too.
The best economics teacher ever. His lectures are extremely boring but he offers extra credit during every single class so I would go. Macro is hard but Hasan trys to meet you halfway.
Pretty laid-back professor who knows what he's talking about but he's still young and would come to class at times less prepared. Graded completely on homework and exams but all of which you could either look up or study fairly easily.
Hasan is a great teacher and gives out a ton of extra credit (i received ~15 points on my overall average just from extra credit alone). He gives extra credit just for attending class and answering a question, as well as extra credit on the exams. He does curve the exams as well. Also his practice exams are similar to the real ones.
His lectures felt a little unprepared at times, but for the most part he taught what was on the exams. He gave practice exams that were pretty similar to the real exams. Overall, not a difficult class if you attempt to actually learn.
EC111 isn't too difficult, and Prof. Isomitdinov gave many extra credit opportunities. However, final grades are not rounded, no matter how close you are to the next letter grade. I was 0.01% away from an A+, but my grade was not rounded. For this reason I recommend attending class and paying attention to earn as much extra credit as possible.
Easy class. Grading scale is favorable to students, and he offers 5% in extra credit on your overall grade through in class bonus questions. Show up most of the time, answer the questions, do homework and practice tests, and you shouldn't struggle too much.
He does a great job at reviewing his notes and laying out what is needed for the tests. He lets out early sometimes, but he cares and is very empathetic when helping students. He also is very funny and connects well with the students throughout the class. Would 10/10 recommend him to anyone looking to take an Econ class!
Hasan is a very nice guy and was very genuine. He has lots of helpful TA's in class that were also super willing to help. The tests are hard, and I don't necessarily think that his lectures helped that much, but it is doable with studying. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are extra credit opportunities i class that can boost you a letter grade
Hasan is a really chill professor, lectures felt a bit unprepared sometimes but hes young and it was 8am. Homework light and easy, textbook unnecessary. Four exams w/ optional cumulative exam. Attendance only for extra credit clicker questions. Didn't find the class too hard but lectures could have been a bit better. Gave practice tests for exams.
Great teacher, sometimes the lectures get a bit tedious but if you pay attention and take good notes its not hard to get a B. He's also super chill, I had work during my normal class hours and he let me attend his earlier classes.
Great professor, preps you very well for exams and also gives practice exams days in advance, which are very similar to the test. I recommend taking him—super chill guy.
This class was very easy to pass. He is a great lecturer and gives a bonus for attendance but I don't think you need to go to class to pass. Homework for the entire unit is due the night before the test and he gives detailed practice tests.
Hasan is my favorite professor. Would recommend taking him (took him for 110 as well.) EC 413 is a difficult class. Didn't know any coding but he made me literate in 1 sem. The first written exam was insanely hard but I recovered back to an A. Material is hard but it is directly applicable to real life jobs. A valuable class, but a tough one.
He was a good guy but an extremely average professor. Sometimes unprepared for class but tests were easy if you understood the practice tests. 4 tests and homework due before each test. I never went to class and did fine, but read the textbook if you don't go to class.
EC413 was probably the hardest class I have taken at UA by far. It was a ton of coding, but I definitely took away a lot from this class. I ended with a B+ but this was the only class where I felt like the stuff I learned was more important than the grade I received. I would say take it only if you are actually willing to put in the work.
Super easy class if you do the practice tests and homework/read the powerpoints. Also go to class and do iclicker for easy extra credit. However, I did not love his lecture style which was very scattered/not prepared before class, which led to us not fully covering some important concepts from the powerpoints in class.
Hasan is a great guy but not the best prof. Reason behind this is all lectures just seem very unprepared and last minute. The notes kind of follow the PowerPt but not really. I would recommend him just will require some outside studying. 4 test 20% each. HW 20%. Bonus for attending. Optional cumul. rev. test after final that can replace lowest test
Hasan is a good guy, but the way he teaches is very unprepared. The homework is easy, and you can pass the exams with little effort if you study. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you get a lot of extra credit if you get the attendance points. The class is boring and hard to pay attention to, but it is doable. He reads a lot off PowerPoint
Hasan is a great guy, although his teaching style is a little different he definitely makes this class easier than most at Bama. As long as you go to class and do the homework, even if you do bad on the tests you can still pass. The class itself is hard but as long as you put in effort, it's not bad.
Mr. Hasan really is a sweet guy and cares about his students, but he does not do a great job preparing you for the test which make up 80% of your grade. He gives extra credit for coming to class if you get the questions right, which is nice. I just think he needs to do a better job of going over the most important part of the material.
Class itself is a standard Macro class course. 4 tests all year with online homework due before every test. He does some of the homework problems in class and gives you a practice exam for each test. Hard to align his lectures with the slides but has TA notes and powerpoints to help.
He is funny and cares about his students. The lectures aren't very helpful. The homework also barely brings up your grade. I've done well on most of the tests but they are hard. He really expects you to know more material than what he teaches and there are concepts on the tests he's never taught.
Professor Hasan is a very impressive and intelligent guy and cares about his students, but he does not do a great job preparing you for the test which make up 80% of your grade. Extra credit is given from showing up to class and answering questions correctly, which is nice. Study a lot for this class because he only reads off powerpoints.
Great professor! Very funny, great teacher. Lectures can be slow, but I took the course at night, which might be why. Attendance is for extra credit (5%), and homework is due before the tests. Tests are tough, but take notes and study a little bit, you will be fine. Final isn't cumulative, but you can opt to take one to replace a low test grade.
Exams are very difficult but he gives up to 5% bonus points if you actually go to class. HWs aren't too bad. Just show up and study and you should be able to do somewhat decent.
Hasan is a good dude. Lectures are pretty boring, as expected in a class like econ. Exams are tough, but you can get up to 5% added to your grade just by showing up and participating in class. Homework assignments for each chapter are a little tough, but they help to keep your grade up. Hasan is a great guy and makes econ as good as he can!
Not the easiest class but he provides practice tests before each exam which are helpful. Bonus points for being in class up to 5% of your grade. Lectures can get boring at times but that might just be econ. Homeworks are easy and he does some of them in class. Overall, a pretty doable class.
Hasan, is a great professor; and an even better person. He wants you to succeed in his class. He gave us up to 5% extra credit which was very generous. It is all based on iClicker points I received 4.5%. He gives practice exams for the exams. Decently similar; uses iClicker questions again. The only thing I didn't like was the TAs doing the reviews
Dr. Isomitdinov was a solid instructor, although there were times it was hard to follow him. The tests can be tricky but the the homework counts as a test grade so make sure to do it all. He also offers up to five bonus points for answering attendance questions. Also, a 95+ is considered an A+ so you really only have to make a 90 to get an A+.
Hasan is an amazing professor, and he made me love his class! The way he teaches makes you want to know more, and going to class, you do iClicker, which gives you a 5% bonus. Tests are tricky, but economics isn't easy. The homework helps boost your grade, and he cares about all of his students and wants to help them!
He is a good professor imo economics is not my strong suit at all but he makes the material easier to understand and the lectures go by fast for me I 100% recommend you take him hes by far better than most econ teachers attendance isnt technically mandatory but you get extra credit for going, four test and the final, homework for each chapter
Answers many questions in the lecture and genuinely cares that you understand. Homework not due until day before exams.
Prof Isomitdinov is a great teacher! Classes count toward your final grade so it is important to attend. The tests are very similar to the practice tests and homework. It is not as difficult as Microenconomics. Would take again!
Good guy overall. Class can get kinda boring sometimes ngl, but he gives bonus questions which is nice. The exams are pretty much the same as the practice tests he gives, so if you look over those you're good. I went to his office a couple times and he was helpful and actually explained stuff. you can tell he really cares about students
Hasan does a great job of explaining concepts and his lectures are actually very well structured for an entry-level econ class. Exams were varying in difficulty and some reviews were better than others but overall a great class and instructor. The math is easy and he provides formula sheets on every exam.
If you aren't good at tests don't take this class extremely test heavy.
Hasan is a great teacher. He is quick to respond to emails, and is accessible outside of class. If you can't get at least a mid B in the class you are doing less than the bare minimum. Just show up to class, do the homework, and pay attention. Very clear teacher, has extra credit for attendance questions. Super cool guy too if you talk to him.
Coming from having Zirlott for micro, this man was amazing. Thoroughly explains topics and typically goes over and gives some answers to homework during lectures. You don't have to go to class, but if you do you get extra credit at the end of the semester. It is a hard class, but Hasan is the best professor for it.
He would do the homework questions in class and get them wrong and had no idea why. He is just super boring and hard to keep focus. He offers extra credit for lecture participation.
I really enjoyed this class. The professor is engaging and has a clear understanding of the subject matter. Tests are not difficult if you complete the practice test given - you get an equation sheet. Attendance is measured with participation questions, and is given as extra credit at the end of the semester.
He was a super nice guy, made the class more fun than what it is. Offers 5% bonus for your overall grade for in class participation. Tests are majority of your grade, do the practice tests he gives, they are very similar to the real test. He also curved our final because it was harder then all our tests. He also offered a replacement test.
He doesn't use the textbook so don't pay for it. He didn't open it once and provides everything you need to know in class. Exams are kinda easy Exam 1 is just micro. Exam 2 was the hardest for most people but was conceptually easy if you can wrap your head around AE and AD. Grade boost via clicker is nice. Averaged 91 on exams and passed with A+.
