He is one of (if not the best)the best professors in the math department. He takes a genuine interest in students and really seems to care that people do well.
Hassan was very helpful in and out of class. He held office hours regularly and really desired for students to take full advantage of them. One of the best professors in the math department that i've come across.
He is a very easy going and humorous professor and teaches in a very simple manner. At times this can be insulting but that is not too often.
I'm glad I had him for stats.
Easy class, a little unclear at times but good overall.
I didn't have a good experience w/ him. 1/3 of the class dropped by the end. We didn't have a book & he gave us ~ 6 hmwk Q's a test that he made up that weren't like the Q's on the test. It was all theoretical. He was arrogant & talked over everyone's head. He would make a better grad prof, but bad as an undergrad prof.
Hassan was an all around bad experience. He was often arrogant, late, and incomprehensible. No matter how many times we went to office hours, we still could not understand HIS material. We never used the book although he told us we should purchase it, he moved too fast, and couldn't ever seem to actually answer our questions. Avoid him for Calc!
Easy class, bad teacher. His explanations were confusing (class consensus), and office hours did not help. We did not use the book at all and didn't get a syllabus. He is a nice, funny guy, though (not arrogant!), and obviously does want his students to do well. He did complain about that "arrogant" comment in class, though: unprofessional!
The guy's really all right. Not arrogant, apparently contrary to RMP opinion. (It's true that we didn't use the book much, though.) Very available office-hour-wise.
He's funny. Pretty much if you go to office hours u will understand the material and get an A. He is really helpful and wants everyone to do well. just go to office hours. im telling u. u will do well if u do that
allouba definately knows what hes talking about, he just doesnt know how to teach it. hes a nice guy who really does care, but he is annoyingly arrogant. the class was frustrating but in the end i learned a thing or two.
Best teacher ever! And Oh God he's movie star hot!!
I came into the class understanding some calc and confident with precalculous and everything before that. When he didnt give out a syllabus and told us he wasnt going to use the book i was worried. turns out i had a right to be. I believe that he knows this stuff inside and out, but he cant teach it to students. slow down and make it understandable
Without question Hassan is the best teacher I ever had. His style is nontraditional, refreshing, and effective. I learned a lot more under him and in a fun way. He is HOT!! and irresistibly magnetic! An eye candy for sure.
Great guy, not so great teacher. Homework felt impossible, studied more for this than any other class, do NOT buy textbook pointless!!! jumps around a lot and confusing but a lot of memorable sayings and OFFICE HOURS ARE A MUST!! He puts a lot of time into making sure you understand but not very good at teaching. Nice guy though really
He pretty much requires that you go to office hours to pass. The class wasn't impossible but not a piece of cake. He tries really hard to help, just make sure you attend office hours A LOT.
Professor is nice, humorous however his lecture is far from understandable. By the way, there is no sample test for exams. Although exam questions are not hard but it still make students suffer because most of us totally do not know what he is talking about. Self study is the best way to kill it.
Probably one of the laziest professors I've ever had. His lectures were unclear and not specific, so there was very little indication of what his exams cover.
Simply top notch, and he is very helpful. Explains very well and very clearly. He makes complicated concepts simple. I and several other students took multiple courses with him, and I'm sure glad I did. He cares that his students understand and do well. He's funny and hot.
Prof. Allouba is a very funny and caring, he truly wants his students to succeed. But learning from his is DIFFICULT. He makes it basically mandatory to go to office hours, because lectures are so confusing. There were 2 exams and a cumulative final, he takes the best of the two and that's your grade. AVOID if you haven't taken Calc before.
Professor Allouba gives the most enjoyable classes. His lectures are clear, funny, and comprehensible. He really cares about the students' learning. His office hours are like another lecture or review session. Optimization is not taught every year, so make sure to take it with Prof Allouba, believe me it makes a big difference.
Hassan is the best teacher I've had at Kent. His lectures r clear & funny. He really cares about the students & wants them to learn the subject not just pass the course. This was analytic geometry & calc course, but he had to explain basic calcalgebra for many students in the class. IMO those students were wasting our time, they skipped prerequis
A+. Lectures are precise and organized. Office hours are extensive. You basically don't need the book. He's friendly and caring. Gives extra credits and makes you drop the lowest test grade. His classes are funny and pleasant. Make sure to attend office hours.
I took optimization couple of years back and did miserably. I needed to increase my GPA for graduation, so I retook it again this time w Allouba. What a difference! It's like taking a totally different course! The class was taught is a totally different way which I liked and was able to follow. I loved the challenging probs & applications. A++++++
Very nice and funny man but he is not the best professor. Tests are super hard even with a cheat sheet,
Hassan is a really awesome guy, but not a very good professor. You can tell by the way he talks that he is very educated. His explanation of things is extremely complicated. If you have not taken calc yet do not take this class. Tests are hard too, and be sure too fill your cheat sheet.
Hassan is a cool guy. He knows his material inside and out but is horrible at explaining it to students. He cares about the students and is willing to re-explain something 100 times to make sure everybody understands. That being said the class was really confused the entire course.. Practice exams and cheat sheet for exams saved me. Take home final
This class is advanced and technical, however the professor's teaching style makes it fun and enjoyable and not so frustrating.
I took this class with professor Allouba after I heard so many positive feedbacks from other students. He's one of the best professors at Kent, he really cares about the students and makes a great effort to make sure they understand every detail. he's such a great teacher and very motivating. I totally recommend taking calc with Allouba.
The subject is very advanced, the professor is very good and really cares about the students and makes sure we all understand. Office hours are MANDATORY, you get more help there, he's very accessible outside class. You can drop one of the exams with the least score, and he gives extra credit to bump your grade. I'll take more classes with him.
The proefssor is very talented and gives good lectures, he's helpful and the class was funny. the grader for this course was tough but we had the option to drop the least grade among three exams. The extra credit problems were difficult but they helped with the grades too.
This class was fun, the lectures were enjoyable and the preofessor cares about the students and their understanding of the material which was sometimes difficult.
He calls numbers "dudes"
This is Siri's favorite class.
Allouba is a great teacher. The class was difficult at times, but he really cares about your grade and understanding the material. Come to his office hours VERY important! he allows you to drop the lowest grade, he will bump your grade if you submit the extra credits. He really wants you to succeed in the course, but you still have2 put xtra work
glad I took the class with him.
Dr. Allouba is a genius who conveys the beauty of mathematics through his lectures. He is caring for students and make their learning the number one priority. Lets class out early a bunch of times. Doesnt grade homework. 3 exams all take home drops the lowest. Dr. Allouba is a great person first and foremost I would reccommend him .
Taught at a much higher level than necessary for this class
Best math teacher at Kent. I wish I had more classes with this guy he really makes math comprehensible and fun and cares about the students and their learning experience.
His lectures are fun and he makes sure we all get the materials. glad I took his class.
Glad I took this course with him ... great professor and makes classes fun and enjoyable. he's also very accessible outside class.
This class is terrible. He moves on too fast and if you can't make office hours then goodluck. Please avoid him. His class won't teach you much and is rigged to make him look good. If all you are worried about is passing, maybe take this class but you won't learn much unless you have time everyday to teach yourself.
He's one of the better math professors I've had at the main campus but he also explains things using his own methods which makes it really hard to study. Class is made easier by the fact that there is only three exams, the final one is take home and its optional if you don't drop one of the first two which he also allows. Not the best but not bad.
No homework (sounds good, but means you're on your own for practicing), no practice tests/exams, you take 3 tests and the lowest is dropped, so if you're a bad test-taker, good luck, there's nothing else, and you'd better be ready because you won't know what's on it. Strongly believes his way is the "best" and that all other ways are time-wasters.
His teaching is bad but the structure of the class makes it easy to do well. I didnt really care if I learned the content as Im not doing calc 3 so it works out. Drops the lowest of 3 exams, take home final, which is optional if you dont drop any of the first 2. Really difficult extra credit/hw. Haven't really learned much and probably wont either!
Too smart for his own good when it comes to math but he can't figure out how to explain anything, saying it's easy even when most of the class is lost. You're graded on only 3 tests but he drops the lowest which would be nice if he didn't wait until Oct. 27 to give out the first test. I'm a senior with a 3.4 GPA with a high chance of not passing.
First exam was the last day to drop. Didn't receive the grade until a month later and everyone did poorly so he made the next two exams take home. I probably would have failed if it wasnt for this because his teaching was pretty bad. Not a day went by where I wasnt confused and ended up teaching myself.
Tests on the basics concepts/ in class ex's His office hours allow you to clarify until you understand Worst thing would be is he did not give a test until after the drop date. Allows a 11 x 8 cheat sheet( you can put anything on it)10 minute break every class Tries his best to keep the mood up Handwriting sucks. Take home Final Go to class B/A
You know, this class was like eating a turnip after brushing your teeth with cinnamon toothpaste. I was fortunate enough to do well in the class, but every exam was a puzzle. Kind of enjoyed not knowing how to do anything until the night before the exam was due. You will be fine In his classes if you are an autodidact! Dont expect help from prof
Avoid at all costs. Rude and clearly doesnt care about teaching whatsoever. You will learn nothing from his classes. You will however have a good chance of passing his class if you can teach yourself well.
Math classes are tough especially the ones taught by Kent teachers who are usually lousy. This is the first math class I enjoyed, and Dr. Allouba made it easy to understand and comprehend the material. Yes I had to put an effort because we're not in high school anymore.
His lectures are clear and very well explained. He makes sure each one in the class has a grasp on the material and encourages us to come to office hours. I enjoyed the classs and the help I got from office hours which were like another heavy class.
I learned a lot from this class and had a good grasp on the material. Prof Allouba gives great lectures and very detailed. He always insists on us coming to office hours and asking questions. He's very friendly and funny and accessible outside class not only in office hours but we can text him and email him with questions anytime.
This class switched online in the middle of the semester because of the COVID lockdown. Professor Allouba made the transition smooth and easy. His lectures were very detailed and thorough, and made them all accessible for us online outside class hours. Tests were easy, and we had the option to drop the lowest test grade. Cool guy.
Dr. Allouba gives very advanced lectures, but his style of teaching is smooth. He has a clear grading criteria that makes it easy for dropping the lowest test grade. Overall the course was fine despite the Coronavirus lockdown which was stressful.
This class was enjoyable even during the lockdown. The professor is very carring and gives great lectures. Sometimes they are very advanced, but the tests are fine and the grading is reasonable.
Hassan has got to be one of the best professors I've had at explaining complex math in a clear, understandable way. He made calc 2 much more manageable than I expected. His lectures are LONG and plentiful, but I always walked away from his lectures feeling confident about the topic he covered. Would definitely take him again if I could.
Amazing professor indeed. He gives great very detailed lectures and he puts them on the university server to make it available for us thourghout the semester in case we need to go over them again. This has been very helpful for me especially during lockdown when classes schedules are totally messed up and stressful times for family.
This course was not easy, but the lectures were easy to understand and detailed w/tons of examples. He's a great teacher I'm glad I had him for this class. I hope to take more classes w/ him next semester.
Wow. Just wow. It is a miracle he has gotten ANY positive reviews. You only get 2 grades in the class out of 3 tests. All of the lectures were outdated and SO confusing. You are better off teaching yourself. Except that you already are doing that because he doesn't reply to emails and THERE ARE NO OFFICE HOURS.
This man literally did not teach our class. He would send messy lectures once a week, usually late, that were reuploaded from a previous semester. He ignored nearly all of his emails, especially ones that required him to put effort in. Exam grades only, nothing in the gradebook and it is finals week. Has put under 2 hours of work in this semester.
This class was easy, and I like his style of teaching. The lectures are well explained and he makes them available on Blackboard throughout the semester. He makes us drop the lowest grade on tests to improve our overall grade.
lol yeah we know who this student is who is posting all those negative reviews. And he claims he got A+ on May 5th. Yeah Kent doesnt have A+ grading, and the course grades were posted only today for those who got A like me. The rest need to take the final. Fake review. You have to work hard to get good grades, we're not in high school anymore
I've heard Dr. Allouba is good in person, however, I don't think he us cut out for the remote style of teaching. Didn't create new content, only 3 exams, didn't keep his word about the final being optional until 3 days after we received the final. I'm disappointed that I did not learn, as I have been looking forward to this class since pre-calc.
This is the second class I took with Professor Allouba. I took ODE w/ him and aced it, then I took this PDE class and aced it as well. He's one of the best teachers, and I always enjoy his classes and style of teaching. He's always accessible and cares about his students unlike other teachers at Kent.
very caring professor and very helpful with answering all the questions I had via email and even phone. He wanted me to succeed in the course and made sure I understood the material and iron out all the issues I had with the material.
This year was tough with the pandemic & all, b ut dr. Allouba made the class go smoothly. his lectures are very well explained, he takes his time in the zoom office hours to make sure all questions are answered. The tests are based on lectures, and he drops the lowest grade & gives extra credit to improve the overalgrades, what more can you ask for.
Dr Allouba called me to make sure I submit the final since I didn't do well in the second test. I appreciated that. I like how he cares and makes sure we do well. I'll definitely take more classes with him.
This course was not easy for me but the professor had clear lectures and is not a tough grader.
I already took three courses wih dr. Allouba. He is a very good teacher and very friendly and he cares about the students and wants us to do well in the course.
Good overall course, good grading method and teaching.
He's very kind and always willing to help the students. I was sick throughout this semester and couldn't submit the first exam. I also had computer issues submitting the other exam and the final. however, Dr. Allouba was very understanding and allowed me to submit after the deadline and alerted me when one of the pages was missing. super nice!
Mr. Allouba is the worst teacher I've ever had. His lectures are horrible and confusing, it seems like he's trying to teach us higher level math when we're in precalc. There's three tests, one gets dropped, and that's your grade. No extra credit, no homework, and his office hours suck. Should have dropped when I could have. Run for the hills!
WORST PROFFESOR & CLASS IVE EVER HAD! He has a meeting time NEVER once used. His class was 1 hour 15 minutes, His lectures and so confusing and too advanced for what we should be learning. They were close to 2 hours each class and so confusing you have to watch it twice. As an architect student I don't have time for it. DO NOT BUY THE $250 BOOK!!
I took several classes with Dr Allouba. His lectures are detailed and clear, and he has a flexible grading policy. He's also caring and friendly. I would take another course with him, but I'm done with all my math requirements.
Hassan is an easy going dude his classes are pleasant and his exams are from what he teaches us in the class can't complain
He is literally the worst teacher I have ever known. There are 3 tests and the lowest is dropped. He never gave out any homework, gave us 2 examples to practice, and never responded to emails. Get ready to hear "elementary math" a million times in his terrible pre-recorded lectures. He is so unorganized, AND ITS A PRE-RECORDED CLASS.
Great professor with a nice sense of humor. His lectures are elaborate and sometimes go beyond our level but his tests and exams are aligned with the syllabus and he gives xtra credit and allows us to drop the lowest score.
This was a graduate course so I had to work my behind off. The exams were loaded but tehy followed the lectures materials. Dr Allouba is very clear in teaching his lectures and very flexible in his grading criteria which made the course palatable for me. He cares about educating the students in his class and makes sure we all follow.
Hassan is an insightful teacher, his courses are not easy but he always inspires you to do great and achieve. I was fortunate to take so many courses with him throughout my college career. He's friendly and clear in his lectures and grading. The exams do not deviate from the lectures which tend to be at an advanced level at times. Overall 5 stars.
Good teacher overall he puts the lectures online on blackboard even tough this was inperson class. This is a senior course so you gotta put in the work we ain't in high school anymore. I'm gonna take more classes with this guy he makes math more tolerated unlike the other folks.
This is one of the best courses I took this semester I enjoyed the class the professor cares and is friendly his lectures are detailed and he gives a lot of material but the exams follow the lectures . I got an A more power to my gpa.
Hassan is a very interesting teacher. He has a very unconventional style of teaching and I think that it works. The lectures can be very confusing at times but he is always willing to help out the class to actually understand the material. He only has 3 grades: attendance, and 3 tests with the worst grade dropped. Also very quick to cancel class.
Professor Allouba has an interesting teaching style, but it works. The lectures are easy to follow and clear to understand, with the exams following exactly what he teaches. A couple of things to know are that he is quick to cancel class, and the homework isn't graded for points.
Dr. Allouba is a genius man but an awful professor. He made no syllabus, had no homework (so no way to practice), and was very monotone. There were two take home exams throughout the entirety of the semester and that is what your grade is based on. He leaves you off more confused than you went into class.
