he's funny...always in a good mood
awesome guy, lots of fun
Hasan is the man! He rules! Very clear and a good guy
wonderful professor
Very helpful and caring teacher! Take any class that he teaches
This is the guy to take. Avoid Casiple.
he is hard to understand the first day, but he is a cool math teacher
Take his class! He knows you by name and you're not just a number in his class
awesome professor, wants to make sure students actually comprehend the work
He's super sweet, and wants to make sure you do well in the class
awesome professor! always cheerful and wants you to do well!!
SO funny... one of my favorite teachers. Very helpful.. definitely take him!!
AWESOME teacher! Wish I could have him for all math classes!!!!
I hate statistics but he is a good teacher. Funny guy, Tests are fairly easy.
He's really great! He's definitely the best prof I've had my entire time at JMU.
the funniest dude ever...take him if you have to take 220-trust me!
One of my fav. prof at JMU. Very nice and helpful.
Funny guy, that Hassan!
He is my favorite teacher, sooo funny! Always helpful, even DURING tests!
Best teacher. Always in a great mood and you learn a lot
Really nice guy always willing to help...even on tests ;-)
awesome guy - take him (easy grader)
Hard to understand at first, but extreamly nice and wants to know everyone
Hasan is the man.
HASAN is awesome.. Highly recommended!! Great teacher.. SO nice!
If you take stats, take him. Stats sucks but he's really nice and generous
GREAT teacher. Helps out during tests. TAKE HIM!
a truly wonderful professor
He's a great teacher but stats is just a very hard class. But he knows his stuff and is always willing to help out his students.
Cute accent, but difficult to understand. Funny, adorable professor. Hard material, but if you go to class and put forth a visible effort you'll get at least a c guaranteed. He WILL learn your name by the second class, and he will call you out.
lets you use whole sheet of paper front and back for tests. Grades pretty easy and good explaination of material. Nice guy too
Funny funny funny!! Really cares, Smart, but hard to understand...Non sexual crush...
Hasam is great. He really explains things well and wants you to get it. He's funny in a cute way.
Very funny. Made an effort to keep students interested. Tests were tough, but fair. Seems to enjoy material. Accessible after class.
Hassan is really caring and amazing...he wants to see everyone get an A in his class.
He may be an easy stats teacher, but he's a REALLY REALLY HARD Math 235 teacher. No one got an A on any of his tests. He will help you if you go to office hours. If you aren't prepared to work hard, then steer clear of his calculus course.
don't let him take you to lunch or he will never leave you alone, hard to understand, he'll help you out on tests though so always ask, cares about students making good grades, just a little too weird for me however
Stats is hard, but Hassan helped me more than any other professor has. He is really interested in his students, and will take as much time as you need to help you succeed. If I had to suffer through more math, I would seek Hassan for help!
I've never had a more helpful math prof. He's so funny and helpful. Hard to understand at times but always willing to go over the material if you ask. Gives lots of take home stuff-go to his office and he will practically do it for you! take him if u can!
I absolutley love this guy! He is an amazing professor. He is so willing to help and really cares about you getting good grades.Go to his office hours! I practically lived there! Its a hard class but get this professor and you will be ok! He is the best!
Hamdan is not only my favorite professor but one of my favorite people! He is always there for all of his students. I am very happy to have someone like him as a guide.
This man stresses me the hell out. It's not difficult but he pulls quizzes out of nowhere. Responsive to the general opinion of the class. Will definitely tell you how to do everything if you ask.
Hasan uses great examples in class and is very funny.. Now to the bad side, projects take years to complete and are worth almost no points. Test are long and extremely hard. You might get a B.
really nice guy, wants everyone to do well, grading is fair, can correct exams if class average is low, drops 2 lowest quizzes, if you do the work, YOU WILL DO WELL!
none of us were math majors, but he still made the class interesting, and wouldn't move on until everyone understood. very nice, caring, funny, i wish he taught more than just math! very smart and helpful. i never wanted to miss a class!
He is always willing to help out, but his lectures were a bit confusing at times. Not a bad teacher or a bad person, just needs some work.
The material is hard but he tries to teach it to best of his ability. He drops the two lowest quiz grades and go to his office hours, he will help you.
I love Hamdan. I hate Stats. Go to class, take your work to the Math lab in wilson.
I love this man!! He is the best statistics professor in the department. He makes sure everyone understands the material and he understands that not everyone taking stats is a math person. He is always willing to work with students and he is hilarious. "My friends" you will love Hamdan!
i love this man to death!!!! stats is def not my thing but he is soo willing to help you whenever you need it! he will do anything for you just to see you succeed. warning:tests are tricky! i will always stay in touch with "my friend". even if you don't like stats take this class - he is worth it!
Loved this man! He is hilarious, and a great profesor. Its difficult to understand at first, but he writes everything down, and you get used to his language. Definitly worth taking :-)
Hamdan is awesome. He is very funny and is helpful if you go see him in his office. Difficult class, but thats more a reflection of the material than the teacher, he does the best job he can with it
Not bad.. just do the work- Test corrections, projects and quizzes bring up the grades. Very easy to convince to change quizzes to take home. Take him!
Wow I as much as the next person hates Stats, but he explained the material well, is very nice, and helpful. It is a hard class but thats just the subject not the professors fault. Take the time to go to the lab to get help and you'll do fine! I would recommend Dr. Hamdan!
A little difficult to understand at first. Very helpful, all you have to do is go to his office and he'll help! Tests are a little difficult. Drops some of the lowest quizzes. Group project fairly easy but time consuming. Projects/quizzes help pull up grades.
Hamdan is a great teacher. He is extremely helpful and funny. Accent is hard to understand at first but you get used to it quickly and he drops two quizzes and helps out a lot wtih grades. If you study you will get an A!
he really knows his stuff, is willing to help you understand and get a good grade... a cool guy, funny (the accent helps too), and an enjoyable class... a little hard though unless you like math
He is very understanding and fair with every student. I am essentially retarded at math and managed a B-. The topic is inherantly awfull but he is good at expaining it. He is far and away better than the other stats teachers
Hard to understand but does his best to make jokes and help out. I am the worst person in the world at math but he refuses to let his students fail...it will not happen unless you like forget to take the exams! Let's you correct your exams for extra credit and quizes and projects boost your grade. Trust me, I failed every exam and got a C :-).
take him for statistics trust me all the other instructors are extermely difficult this guy will not fail you if you try! thick accent and messy handwriting but he will work with you to help you understand..... if you want to pass the first time around take him!
Best professor I've had at JMU! He's so helpful and so funny, I definitly enjoyed going to class. Make sure you go to all of his classes though, I only missed one the entire semester and I fell way behind.
Dr. Hamdan is the coolest teacher in the world. I highly recommend his class.
Hamdan is the best stats professor there is. However, if you have trouble with accents, you might have a prob. He's really sweet though and he will not fail you. He wants you to do well.
great stat teacher, will try to make everyone have good grades. he gives you many take home tests and if you go to his office he will give you the answers! i am horrible at math but got a b in the class!!
i've been terrible at math since i could add. i'm an art student, go figure. i also failed stats the first time around. all i can say is this: take hamdan if you really, really suck. just TRY and do the work, and you'll be fine. i ended up with a B in his class.
Dr. Hamdan is awesome. He's nice and very approachable. He really cares about his students as well.
Outstanding - I was scared to death to take statistics - his love of teaching and clearly of stats and great sense of humor - hard to come by.
Prof Hamdan is a great teacher, goes over each example until everyone gets it. Fair grading, and gives you chances to redeem yourself with things like test corrections. Really cares about you understanding the subject. Great teacher, take him if you can.
Prof. Hamdan is the best. He is always in a good mood and refuses to move on to new stuff until everyone understands whats going on. Lets you make test corrections to boost up your test grades. Quizzes come from recommended questions. I got a C without very muc effort at all. Also, extrememly helpful during office house & a great person in general.
Best teacher I've ever had, he explains things really well, he's extremely helpful, friendly, and kind. You should definately try to take him if you get a chance!
Very good teacher who clearly explains statistics. Test are easier than the quizzes he gives and some of the quizzes are take home. 3 project, 2 exams, and a final. If your good at stats you should do well
Class was okay. Quizzes and group SPSS projects helped me grade the most. Tests are difficult but he's very generous about the cheat sheet you get to bring in. If you attend each class and study a lot you should be able to do good.
Do not take this class online. I took quizzes that were on a specific chapter but it was sometimes on the chapter before or after the one it was supposed to be. Ex. Chapter 1 quiz had questions covering material from chapter 4 or 6 etc. One time I took the same quiz twice for different chapters. I think stats is important your learning will suffer.
Really great guy like everyone says, but his class did not follow the book at all. I tried many times to ask him what chapters/sections a quiz/test would be on, and he would have to think about it, and a couple times gave me different answers. Made it really difficult for me to learn stuff I missed.
Was fair teacher but quizes did not follow assigned reading. said that practice exams and real exams were very similar, not true. Was fair about cheat sheet.
Dr. Hamdan is the man! he is the nicest most fair prof i have ever had. it is hard to jump into 318 without ever doing stats before but he is helpful and he wants everyone to do well. his accent is a little thick but you can still understand him. take him if you can.
He is a great guy. For our class he let us do corrections on the first two tests. He changes his weights based on which test is best. Lets put it this way, I got a 51 and 63 on the two tests, and a 71 on the final (no corrections) and I got a B- in the class. He is an amazing guy though and will help you out all you need. He is great!
math220 was okay. He rushes a lot during class especially at the end, and class drags on. Statistics is never really a fun subject though, but he is enthusiastic about the material. Alot of the time I got lost during class, so the take home quizzes saved my grade!Go to the Math+Science center for help! SPSS is weird but it boosts your grade also
Hamdan is a great teacher. He doesn't follow the book but he breaks everything up and gives you examples for everything he is teaching you. He lets you do corrections on your tests and there are weekly quizzes but some were take home. He didn't go over SPSS which is probably the only negative thing, because it was hard to figure our the project
Hamdan is a really nice guy but the opposite of what I look for in a teacher. He will not use the book- actually told me no when I asked if he could give me some examples from the book on what we were doing in class. I will probably get a C+ or a B- without doing much work but do not feel as though he has taught me anything. Just no structure
Took the class online this summer. He definitely focused on the book. He was always helpful when responding to emails regarding the midterm and projects, final exam was almost directly from the book. If you do all of the assignments and quizes on time, it's not that difficult to get an A. He's also really fair and will curve grades if necessary.
definitely take him! he is the nicest professor ever and really tries to make sure everyone understands the material. there is usually a weekly quiz, but some are take home and some take questions right out of the suggested homework questions from the book.
He's a great teacher, clear in explanations. No required homework but it helps to do the suggested problems before the test as in he usually takes some of the problems and puts them on the test.
He's a really great guy and I like him a lot. 318 is a difficult class by nature, but he does his best to help us get through it. If I went to more classes I am sure I would have gotten an A. Definitely take him if you need the class, or any other he is teaching! He's a riot!
He is a really nice guy but he teaches more stats rather than math235. let's us out late everyday (even though we have class 4 days a week). The class is somewhat hard but do the recommended problems which help a lot. he also does curve and let's us make corrections to our exams. definitely cares about his students and will help if you ask
WORST MATH PROFESSOR EVER. He is extremely confusing and even if you ask for help, you end up more confused than when you started. Only reason I got a C was because I taught myself. He's a nice guy but a terrible professor.
Takes attendance just about everyday, though it is still okay to miss some since you will be doing a lot of learning on your own anyway. Every lecture is just one big example that he won't clearly connect to the next. I would stay away from this class if you could but it is a pretty easy A if you take the time to learn things on your own.

Professor H is a great guy but not the best Stats professor out there. He does have an accent that is a little confusing but you get the hang of it. He doesn't really teach but just kind of skims over things. There were 2 tests, 1 final, and 3 group projects. He offers test corrections which is a huge grade booster. Not the worst but not the best.
COOL DUDE
Professor Hamadan is really cooperative and willing to work with his students. Although he is a bit unclear and disorganized he tries his best to make the material understandable. Allows test corrections and drops the three lowest quizzes, which are online and open note. The group project is a little frustrating but go to his office hours for help.
I loved Dr. Hamdan! He's super sweet and wants his students to do well. If you struggle with math like I do, use the practice questions under resources on connect math. That's what really helped me learn. He usually gives an online open note quiz each week, four group projects, and 3 tests.
As an international student, DR. Hamdan made the Math220 class very clear to us.
He was one of my best professors ever! the sessions were full of fun, and he himself was energetic. The only critic that I have is the final exam.
When he teaches he yells at you because he doesn't think you can hear him. Also when you ask him a question, you need to ask it 5 different ways in order for him to understand what you are asking. Also the webwork he posts are due at weird times like precisely 8:11pm. I would avoid him at all costs!
He is THE WORST professor. He does not know calculus enough to be able to teach it in a way we would understand. The whole class is confused 90% of the time. The tests are very hard, but he will give a small curve. Also he gives very few practice problems to review. I don't know why JMU let him teach this class.
Dr. Hamdan is a great guy, like the kind of guy you'd want as a neighbor. However, I don't want my neighbor teaching me calculus. In addition, he expected us to know more from Calc I than we did. Also, on each test there was at least one problem we had never covered how to do. He's not very calculus minded, but I might take him again for Stats.
I had him in an 70 person class and HE WILL learn every name in the class. If you hate being called out in class then he is NOT the professor for you. Takes attendance 95% of the time. Homework and quizzes (at home) are through connectMath. He has a tendency of doing problems in a hard way, the textbook shows easier explanations so read it.
He was funny even when he didn't mean to be. His math jokes are super corny but brake up the math material. The only work sucks but is bearable. He will help you if needed. Really great with making sure everyone understands what is going on.
I enjoyed Dr. Hamdan's class. He understands that not everyone likes/ is good at math so he tries to make it entertaining. He tries to make sure everyone does well and is very understanding. The online math program that we used for quizzes and test was terrible though, so if you aren't a math person, this class might not be for you
Hamdan is all over the place in his lectures. He is very caring and he wants his students to succeed. He has only two tests throughout the semester but he does offer test corrections.
Dr. Hamdan was a good professor. He only gives out 2 tests with corrections after and the final and you get a list of formulas. He often does not understand what students are asking so he does not answer your questions but the online textbook and practice problems is a huge help so use that. He gives online quizzes but 2 are dropped. Take him!
Really great guy who also has funny, different, sense of humor. Has a bit of a thick accent but you will get used to it. However, he speed teaches so if you have taken algebra before you will be fine but otherwise the class itself can be difficult and easy to get lost in. HW online and attendance thru an online code.
Professor Hamdan does not want to assist in learning if you ask him a question he'll just refer you to the learning center. He listed three different locations and times for the midterm. Keep up with the HLS there's a lot before the midterm.
Worst math class I have ever taken. He was the opposite of a help. Formula sheets don't provide all the information needed for the tests. When you ask questions he gives you wrong answers. Lost one of my group projects until I showed him that I submitted it. So unorganized and terrible when you come to him with questions.
Since this class was online, it was most obviously hard to understand the content sometimes. However, professor Hamdam gave so many opportunities for us to succeed. There were only two tests (the midterm and the final) and he let us retake the midterm with notes, and gave us the final ahead of time. Just do the modules and you will pass!
Hamdan is the man! he is chill and his class was straight forward! do not expect an easy A as it is a 400 level math class!
very tough class but he is cool and fair! Not the best lecturer tho but he cares about his students a lot!
Took him online for 220, not bad at all. You have to complete a lot of "certifications" kinda like homework, but easy if you stay on top of the schedule. Discussion questions but only takes 20ish minutes to do. Group SPSS projects as well. Gave study guide for mid term. He is very accommodating with any issues you have. Highly recommend!
Prof Hamdan is truly a good person and he's very nice, but he is not the kind of person I want to teach me math of all things. He words things weirdly making it hard to understand, and he isn't very engaging. I basically teach myself from the textbook. He also isn't accessible and never answers emails, and his canvas is unorganized.
He's very kind and understanding. I wish he taught 329. I thank him for his humor because he never fails to put a smile on my face. The class is a lot of work though, but worth the experience.
Great guy that cant know any less about how to run a class. The class was disorganized, unclear, and full of work that we didnt know how to do; I could go on and on. Its obvious that he is a smart man, but be prepared for constant frustration if you get him. Easily the worst class I have ever taken. Avoid his class like the plague.
Hassans math 229 class is difficult because of how much work it is. However, he really cares about his students and he will always answer your questions and help you get the homework and quizzes right. He is one of the best professors I have had and I would highly recommend taking him. Just put in the work and you will do great.
He's a great professor, but a little slow over zoom. It's a pretty easy class if you pay attention. The worst part of the class is that he assigns group projects and, if you end up with a bad group, it'll be a headache to deal with. Overall, he's an amazing teacher who loves what he teaches.
Dr. Hamdan is a wonderful professor who genuinely cares about his students. My class with him was hybrid, it was at times hard to understand him on zoom. But that is def. not what defines him. His in-person lectures were some of the best lectures I've ever had in a math class. He genuinely cares for his students. I cannot recommend his class enough
So I have professor Hamdan currently and the material he presents is relatively easy . However, he overcomplicates the heck out of every concept because he is all over the place with his lectures. Sure take this class if u gotta but be prepared to teach yourself homie.
Worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't explain clearly and his hand writing is so awful it's hard to read or take notes. I have no clue why he has a good rating.
Good professor who genuinely cares for his students and everything. Attendance was mandatory for a grade, and all the homeworks/exams were online. Pretty clear instructor and was almost never confusing except his accent and somewhat unorganized handwriting. However, he does a very good job explaining and those who complained never showed to class
HIs class is extremely frustrating at times. Tough to understand, he rushes at times. HIs accent is hard to understand. Only positive side is that he doesn't grade hard and you are allowed retakes each test. Do not recommend taking him
It is important to go to class as he takes attendance and his lectures are not really based off of the slideshows he posts on canvas. He uses real-world examples in order to help us better understand the material. He is hilarious but has awful handwriting and can be hard to understand at times. He makes statistics as interesting as it can get.
Dr. hamdan is the goat. math 220 is supposed to be such a tough class, but he makes it way easier. his tests are all open note and so are the quizzes. you also get unlimited attempts on the homework and they are fairly easy. the only thing that sucks is the spas but you have to do them for the class.
Told us he dropped the ball and has not been teaching us everything we need to know. Very sweet guy and does care a lot, but it does not matter because you will always feel lost with his way of very disorganized teaching. Comes to class with no preparation and has made me think about a major switch to avoid taking his classes.
He was entertaining at times but he moved through the material so fast and the class all fell behind and he didn't seem to recognize it. I grew respect for him as the year went on but I would not take him as a 205 professor if I could avoid it.
Avoid professor at all costs. He might have been good in the past, but he has completely given up. Taught us a lot but none of it mirrors the exams. Sweet person, but really horrible professor.
Its sad because hes a very nice person and really tries to get to know all of us, but not a great professor. He is very unorganized and forgets to teach us stuff. i never knew what to expect on exams or anything in this class. My whole class was so confused and no one really preformed well because of it.
The class itself is easy as long as you are prepared to put in the work to teach yourself or go to the roop hall math learning suite, you will be fine. I got cold-called every single class but I could never understand what he was asking because of his accent. I'm sure he is very smart but he is not a good professor.
i was gonna give him a 2 but he changed the grading scale to make my 78 a B- so he gets a 3 instead. here's some fun facts about my 327 class with him; -he never used my correct pronouns even though they're on canvas the whole semester -we were gonna get 2 group projects but due to poor time management we got 0 -we all got 16 points back on exam 1
He's a good person and likes to joke around with the class. However, it was hard to learn anything in this class. The only way I passed exams was taking hours out of each day to teach myself the material. Good thing is all exams are online, he lets you use cheat sheets, and he will drop/replace some bad quiz grades.
AVOID at all costs. Never responded to emails, cut me off during questions, took attendance sometimes, awful handwriting, hard to follow, harsh grader, once gave us a pop quiz because we looked "tired," never posted notes, put you on the spot, took forever to grade things, would say one thing, then do the opposite. Worst professor I've ever had.
Class is a little boring, his lecturing is all over the place and often I go back and teach myself how to do things from the textbook, the group projects are an easy 100, tests hard but he gives multiple takes and will take the average or your highest score. Not learning a ton, but solid decently easy class.
This is my favorite professor I have ever had. He is so funny and nice, and he really cares about his students success. All of our exams have been take home, and we've gotten multiple tries each time. Homework is easy and on aleks, and all exams you can use cheat sheets. He is a slow grader, but an easy grader. Four easy group projects.
He explains the concepts really well and engages the class with good topics. He talks about the projects and lectures in class which he walks you through. He isn't too tech savvy, but he writes notes on paper then shows it on the camera so go to class. He cares about his students and wants to help so ask for it. Favorite prof would take him again.
I love this man with my whole heart.
Professor Hamdan's teaching style can be hit or miss, but he genuinely cares about student success. While lectures can be disorganized, the open-note exams, lenient grading, and helpful study tools like unstuck AI make this an overall manageable course. Worth taking if you're willing to put in the work.
Dr. Hamdan is amazing! I was so scared to take calculus , but he made it as easy as chocolate cake :) I will say his lectures are fast paced but if you review the material the day before, you will be just fine. Also the final, midterm, and homework are online- in person. Take him, hes awesome!
If you don't have a Stat background, avoid if you can. He is very sweet and if you have a problem, he'll try to help, but you cannot understand a thing that man says. I feel horrible saying this, and he insisted that his accent is "not an excuse for doing poorly in my class", but I don't know what he's saying! Be ready for a lot of self-teaching!
Took Online so my experience may differ but, he was very nice and would help students with homework and questions often when he was asked. All homework and tests were online, the grading system for it kind of sucked but he was willingly to change stuff if you got it right, bad about answering email, but he's nice, I'd recommend taking him.
Really nice, funny guy but has a very thick accent that is hard to understand which makes the course very difficult. He often teaches things that are not reflected in the homework's and the homework's have no correlation to the lesson.
Very good guy. Genuinely cares about all of his students and wants every student to succeed. However sometimes is a bit disorganized with his lectures which leaves many students confused. The class will be easy if you've taken AP stats in high school.
He's a nice guy and makes jokes in class. However, if you are not good at stats or math in general, do NOT take this class. His explanations are not thorough at all and I never felt prepared for the exams, no matter how much studying or self-teaching I did. All the homework and exams (except the final) were on ALEKS.
