Dr. Kasfy was so great! Even though I wasn't a native speaker and haven't study mathmatics for 3 years, I was able to get an A,, beacause his explanation was so clear and the tests were easy! You just need to do all of your homework and concentrate what he teaches about.. I really enjoyed the clas :)
Not a good choice if u want to get an A....hw and attendance are mandatory, be sure to be on time. HW = exam and exam = final. do all hw cuz is exactly the same problem in the test...PS:dont take his short term classes!!! very difficult!!
very interesting teacher. intimidating at first, but after the first week it wears off. very helpful and straightforward. exams questions are from the HW, and Final Q's are from exams. if your good, he will bump up your grade if you are boarder line.
Professor Kasfy may seem friendly and chilled at first. I took his class thinking that he was one of the easiest professors in the field because of the previous ratings but do not trust! His calc class is extremely hard... he hasn't thought many 5B classes before... a lot of hw and hard tests! And he is not very clear explaining the material.
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER AND I LOVED HIS CLASS HE WAS VERY HELPFUL. MAKES MATH FUN AND I LOOK FORWARD TO TAKING HIM AGAIN....TAKE HIM HE'S GREAT HIS TEST ARE EASY AND HOMEWORK IS EASY AS WELL....TAKE HIM TAKE HIM...
I have got to say, I am so lucky I am taking this teacher. He's so clear and offers to help, encourages to aske questions and the people in the class are all great with each other. I can't wait to take him for my next mathe classes and Calculus.
Very clear, friendly, a very good professor and seems to be a happy person too. Take him but study and do your homework! Very easy material, friendly atmosphere in the class, he's like an older brother for us but I have to tell you that he's pretty strict on the attendance, homework and during the tests he's ... clueless. :)))
Professor Kasfy is an amazing teacher,he covers material in depth and never leaves anyone behind. Simple fact is if you are in school and you happen to be in his class be respectful and courteous, study,do HW, and you'll receive the grade that you've earned. I look forward to taking in upper division math classes. Mr. Kasfy your the BEST.
Great teacher, my first college teacher and made my experience a good one, very helpful always answers questions...a very nice funny person.
somehow helpful but the quizzes are a bit hard than usual. he gives partial points for trying the problem and the best part is HE GIVES 10 POINTS JUT FOR WRITING YOUR NAME CORRECTLY!
HIS EXAMS ACTUALLY ARE NOT THAT HARD. I THINK AS LONG AS YOU DO YOUR HW AND PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS, YOU'LL BE OK. HOWEVER, BE PERFECT! HE'S NOT VERY LENIENT IN GIVING SCORES. SO, BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MAKE MISTAKES. EVEN SMALL ONES! COZ HE'LL TAKE POINT OUT FROM THAT. *SIGH
He's ok. Wish he can be more helpful and clear on some important things like how to remember the Trig. circle. Trying to learn that circle ruined me. Pre-calc was better. His tests were HARD, really need to study and especially do the hw. Attendance is mandatory in his upper division math classes. I think it's easier to take him for Algebra.
BEST MATH PROFFESSOR i have ever had.. very clear, makes sure u understand the subject, very smart man, funny, class is fun.. easy tests.
He is the best math teacher. You can tell he loves math and it shows in his teaching style. He never wastes a minute of class time. I wish more teachers would be like him. Also, his tests are the easiest... always from the book. If you don't like math, you will after his class.
So bad, I am compelled to go on here and actually rate him. Please do not take his class, if you want to keep your grade. He does not teach, only does homework questions (this is his idea of a lecture), and sometimes, he can't even answer them. He is the most unreasonable grader when it comes to tests. Worst professor ever. The end.
Well I find him quite an interesting teacher. Sure, he makes mistakes in class. He is but a human and at least he jokes around with it. I've got to say that his way of teaching is interesting and at least keeps you focused in class unlike some other teachers. I find his class refreshing even if the material is a bore.
I sat in the front of class since day 1. This class is no joke like all math classes out there. Make sure to do your homework w/o solutions manual and practice (previous math materials like trig. and etc). No drop tests, no ec, no leniency. Fight for your grade. In the end, this class will help you realize how much more studying you need to get a A
do not assume he is an easy teacher. The testes are hard. Also he grade them unfairly. no extra credit, no curves. Unless u r those supersmart students don't take him
*For those reading these comment and those prior to mines that rated Kasfy low.* Disregard all ratings that result in 3 or lower. Kasfy is an excellent professor. You earn what you earn. Listen in class, don't fool around. I suggest people rate properly, just because you failed doesn't mean he's a bad teacher you just didn't pay attention. ~J.L.
I meant 2 and lower**
great math teacher!! math 8,9,5a,5b! i got 3 As and a B in 5b but thats what i deserved! do your homework! without the solutions! that wont help you! go to class! even thought he doesn't care if you do! his explanations make the Difference!!!
took for math 8,9, 5a,5b. wonderfull professor. helpful during office hours. good classroom speaker. seeks to relate to students. hard tests, but check our some of the other teachers tests; they are hard too. recommend for students looking for a compassionat yet passive teacher. hard to adjust to other teachers afterwards!
His calc 5b in the summer is impossible. you HAVE to be literally really smart to get an A. I literally studied all the time, and did just ok on the tests. Hard work and effort will not get you an A in his summer calc 5b class. Maybe in the regular semester because you have more time to study, but not in the summer.
My first class at PCC was math402.Took Kasfy.Loved math after that.Took him for Math3 and MP2.He gets straight to the point.HW everyday.Defines things before we enter new sections.Helped when I needed help.60%exam avg,10%HW, and 30%final.You have to work hard and put effort. He's the real deal. No pitty for you. You earn what you put into the class.
I forgot to say, he does not use the book as much. He knows the shortcuts to problems. Encourages us to do well. And of course I won't be taking him anymore, and I'll miss the man dearly. YOU ARE THE BEST Mr. Kasfy!!!
Great professor. knows his math and knows how to convey it. if anyone wants to take 5B in intersessions, even the best professor cant help much. his tests are fair, neither easy nor impossibly hard. you can ask him for help anytime and he will explain without ridiculing you. he's a great professor. if anyone disagrees, they need to stop taking math
He is the best math professor in PCC!!!Awesome and very helpful! You would learn a lot from his math class, and he has his own way to teach that make you learn more clearly! He is always proud of his exams! Not really hard but really challenging and interesting~!
Prof. Kasfy is not merciful and he is not afraid of failing students...Nice guy but as a professor sometimes anal..gives partial credit on exams but runs too quickly on lectures...assumes you know much of the material from prior classes
kasfy super dope yo...tells you every thing u need ta know and some.. down ta earth.. not a robot u feel me... can interact with you.. answers all your questions...and never losses his cool.
Great guy, and a very good teacher. If he is not clear, he will take time to go over it for you. But you must do the homework and be diligent about learning the material. He is unforgiving in his test and is of afraid to fail you...
Hassan Kasfy is the best professor I have ever had, HANDS DOWN! Not only is he funny but he has a great way of translating mathematical concepts. He is also extremely helpful and takes time to ensure you know the material. Anyone who says otherwise didn't work hard enough. Consider yourself very lucky if you can get into one of his classes.
One of the BEST Math Professor in PCC. He knows how to convey Maths and his lectures are crystal clear. Highly recommend him. Those who say otherwise need to stop taking Math
i took his class a while ago i really learn alot. i wish he teaches math 131 he is an excellent professor. he makes math fun and easy to learn. hopefully he teaches math 131.
By far the best professor ever!! I hated math before I met him. If you take him, give it some time before his teaching style sinks in...after a few class sessions, you'll be flying. He makes math very enjoyable. He has a true passion for math. Wish I would've taken him for math 3:(..I might just drop my current class and take him again..miss him
For everyone that is logging on to RMP and saying anything negative about professor Kasfy, there are one of two things. 1, you're a complete, disrespectful moron who should just shut up and leave. 2, get a head inspection. Have some respect for on of the greatest math professors out there. I can say that with EASE. I love Kasfy x10e234
there's really not much to say besides the fact that professor Kasfy knows how to teach. His math skills are great, there doesn't seem to be anything he doesn't know. honestly. I highly recommend him حب
The best Math Professor I ever had. Although I took his class last year, he's still the math professor I wish I had for all my math classes. At the end of his class you'll be saying "DO IT THE KASFY WAY"
THE BEST!!!!
he's a really good professor.. his teaching is clear... however, he tends to do things quickly... therefore sometimes, many students get confused.. however he's there to answer all of your question in class or in his office... tests are somewhat hard.. really have to study.. A is achievable for those who study hard.. and don't bail on anything, study
very helpful and excellent professor. He makes his class very interesting. I learned alot. Math is a hard subject and he made it so simple and easy to understand..:) please teach math 131.. i really reccomend to take his class.
Math 133A is the first half of Math 131. This is slower paced and you learn the first 5 chapters in this course and the remaining in Math 133B. Professor Kasfy is a great teacher. Breaks everything down for you and answers all questions. I ended up getting an A in the course. Do all your homework and really get it. Take this course!
THE BEST TEACHER ALIVE! Will help you with anything and everything. I LOVE MR. KASFY c:
he comes into class, and is always energetic about the subject, which makes it a fun class. Sucks to have him because you'll get to attached to his teaching style and never want to have a different teacher :(
Honestly, this teacher is amazing! clearly explains things and actually makes you enjoy math! He's not too hard because he explains things well and if you do your homework you'll be alright, highly recommend if you actually want to learn and understand math! favorite math teacher thus far! you won't regret!
kasfy is an okay guy. jokes about problems pretty easy going. Work-wise he goes straight into how to do problems and you will know how to do a majority of the problems. But!! he goes over no concept just shows you how to do problems. when questions are changed and require reasoning you wont fully understand. grading should be no problem though
He's really a professor who is passionate to teach. If you want a class of great teacher and some hard work, 7a and 7b class good for you. The tests are pretty tight, you must know each concept well and not to get careless hopefully. Overall he is a great teacher, worth every penny that you spend in the class.
He is a great teacher. Listen to his lectures and do all the homework, you'll be guaranteed a B in his class.
Good teacher. Tough class in general. I liked that he was to the point. HW everyday and due the next meeting. 5 Tests and he drops the lowest. Final is cumulative.
Kasfy is definately one of the better math teachers at PCC. Holds his students to a high standard,(but your PCC students so what the heck)Go to office hours when you need to, do your homework, you should do fine. The material is challenging but he is fair. Good teacher.
Fairly easy class to get an A in.Since you need to turn in hw, txtbook is mandatory. However, test problems are based upon hw problems so it is very helpful to do the hw. Not very bright on concepts but clear on how to do hw problems. He does even problems in class so hw problems are clearly understood. Attitude-based: nice and friendly.
I had been a math idiot until he turned me into an "A" math student..Highly Recommend.
test is not easy, no extra credit, no drop, no curve, but you can learn a lot of things from him.
took this in the winter. had seven exams in five weeks. test are hard if you don't do homework. does not curve or drop any exams either. personally think you should not take this class if you dont have a good background in math, otherwise you would fail.
Do your homework and you will do fine on the test and his class. ask as many questions as you want he will answer them all. he help me get math a lot better than ANY of my last math teachers. super helpful!
Took MathPath 5A&5B this fall.He is nice and fair, but he doesn't give any extra credit or drop the lowest score, so you need to be really careful when you are doing the test. Tests are not that hard as long as you do the hw and understand how to do it. Got two A's from his class. :)
One of the best professors I have ever had. Extremely nice and helpful. Actually teaches the material. If you don't understand he is more than willing to help you.
Fun guy. Great class.
I had Kasfy for Math 125 and Math 133A. He is really helpful, goes over any home work problem you have trouble with, and goes over every section thoroughly. take lots of notes, his tests are from his in class notes and a few homework problems. He is funny and overall very nice and helpful if you do the work.
The best teacher EVER!!!! I took his math 5A currently and GET AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I was not that good at math, but Prof Kasfy teach well and so approachable that I improve gradually. I was getting a B at first but then I keep on getting an A. AMAZING TEACHER! He also gave bunch of extra credits. CONLCUSION : TAKE HIM DEFINITELY!
This is my third semester with Professor Kasfy. I went into pre-algebra in my 20's with no interest in math because it was always hard for me. He helped me learn and actually LOVE math. I never want a class with a professor other than him...so nice, amazing teacher, and very self-aware. Amazing person.
Practice the textbook problems and homework problems and youll be golden! He's really helpful and really wants you to understand. I used to hate math and he made me love it. totally recommend him
even though my English is terrible, but I have learned a lot of thing from him. I understand every thing during the class. he always ask student for help. some students let him resolve the problem, and he always does. he explained every step when you raise your hand. when you falling sleep, he gives you stories and makes you to focus on his lecture
great professor, lectures well, love the tricks and short-cuts he showed us, but a TOUGH grader! practically need to be perfect on the exams. i usually don't get too many points taken off from the usual mistakes (ie. signs, minor calculations; sometimes he doesn't allow calculators on exams) but goodness this guy is brutal! so be aware of that.
Very good teacher, crystal clear with his explanations and added some stories to take the monotony out of the class. Do your homework, the tests are homework problems. Study for about 2-4 hours the night before the exam and you should be golden.
Kasfy is an awesome teacher. I started in MathPath 7A/B & after 5A/B/C with him, I'm a converted math major! He tells relevant stories & jokes to keep your interest in class, cares a lot about his students, & really teaches the material. No online hw, & ALL the concepts on the hw are on the test. Listen when he says that & you'll be ok. TY Kasfy!
Kasfy is very clear and concise. I'm a consistent A student but I had lots of trouble with Kasfy. He is very tricky and makes the tests much more complicated than practical. He doesn't show any sympathy, by that I mean: No curves, extra credit, dropped scores, or any free points. Think MANY times before taking this class.
He is a great prof. He is willing to go over the same problem over and over again He does not give free passes No E.C/MakeUps He is always trying to make math relevant W/awkward jokes/gives inspiring stories HE IS CLEAR and always shows diff ways to solve 1problem gives alot of HW If you want to learn TAKE HIM if you want an easy A keep on looking.
The best math teacher at pac, he makes every thing become simple and fun.I have never felt math can be that easy.
His lectures are clear, but his tests are really hard, he assigns all odd problems for homework, his tests is about 45% odd problems, 45% even problems and 10% he makes up, the problem with his test is some of the even problems are much more difficult than the odd ones, you will get no exposure to these problems
This professor is very kind and the best math professor I have ever had. He cares and that is refreshing. Pay attention, do not miss class, and you'll pass your class.
Great teacher. He teaches clearly and tells stories to explain practical applications. He is passionate about math and will re-explain concepts if you ask. You don't need the textbook; everything you need to know are in his lectures. He replaces the lowest test score with the final. As long as you pay attention and do the homework, you'll be fine.
Great professor! He doesn't mind explaining similar math problems over and over again in class. If you listen to his lecture, and understand the homework, you'll do fine. His test are all based off the textbook. No quiz, no make up test (have to be there on test day, or he will replace that missing grade with your final). He can make math easy&fun!
WOW. Prof Kasfy is the most amazing teacher I have ever had. He explained concepts clear and doesn't mind repeating himself 100 times if you ask. Funny and amazing. I HIGHLY suggest him. Just do the work and make sure to STUDY FOR THE TESTS!!! Not hard to get an A, just don't slack off. Take it from me. He just wants you to succeed. TAKE HIM!
Love this professor. He really wants students to succeed and does not mind repeating himself if you did not understand something. Just make sure to ask. He is clear on whats going to be on the test. Like he says he includes everything on the test so you have to make sure to study. I would most definitely take him again. Recommend this professor !
the best math professor in Pcc that I ve had. His lecture is super clear, interesting. I took his 5B in fall 2014. No review before the test, no extra credit, not dropping any test , but It is worth to take his class, because he could make you understand every single topic of 5B. I miss his class a lot.
I took professor Kasfy, and i'm warning you to not. I'm a really hard working student, but his very difficult exams, and harsh grading, really blew my confidence away. I cried for days after receiving an F on an exam. I'm not saying it's his fault, but don't take him unless you are already sure that you know the stuff, because his exams kill.
He's okay as a teacher. He once accused a student of cheating even though they clearly were not. Not very approachable when you ask him questions after class.
So just let me break this down for you, this professor is a very difficult and unhelpful professor. He says if you come to class and do all your homework, you'll pass, but i'm telling you that's a lie. He often doesn't prepare you well enough for the exams, so you'll encounter things you never even learned, and he's a mean grader, no curves.
Great teacher and I'm expecting to take him again. Gives a lot of homework but his test are pretty easy so not much of a challenge but if math is not your area you will struggle.
He is very organized and has a motivating attitude. He lectures every class (usually 1-2 sections) and assigns homework daily. The lectures are posted online daily which is so helpful when you are absent or need to review the material over again. The homework is based on the lectures and are not too lengthy! I would highly recommend Prof. Kasfy!
Here's my advice for higher level math path students (5A - 55) -Do not take more than 15 units while taking Kasfy's math path. This stuff takes time to learn. -The day you fall behind on your homework (homework everyday) is the day you resort to cramming and you will forget all that you've crammed by finals. -5test20hw8 weeks.
His an amazing teacher, he goes step by step with everything he does on the board and if someone didn't understand something he would go back and explain it again until he she starts to understand. He gives tests after every chapter of the book that he completes and homework everyday, so that the students can better understand his material.
I took his 5B5C Math-Path on spring. 5B was a tough subject; especially in math-path. He couldn't have time to cover all of those useful stuff. However, his tests were OK and "setup only do not solve" those annoying integral calculations, but you need to do home work if u want to get A.
Took him for summer. 6 weeks long, 8 ch tests, and a final. Collects HW everyday. AMAZING professor, makes the subject easy to understand. Do the HW, you'll do fine on the tests. I wouldn't say it's an easy A. You get what you put into the class. Dont expect to pass if you dont do the work. Test Qs are taken from HW, so theres no surprises on exams
He is so boring, I didnt really get his lecture, i never paid attention to him. As long as you know how to do exactly all the homework assigned by him, then his tests will be easy. His tests are based on homework. I taught the class was hard, maybe because i took it during the summer.
STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED. I've never scored less than an "A" in a math class prior to attempting Kasfy's 5B5C MathPath class. He is a fine teacher but his tests are ridiculous. He doesn't test on concepts, he tests on the hardest problems assigned in the homework. Study the homework, not the concepts. I withdrew; aced a 5wk class elsewhere easily.
Best Math teacher by far! really has the student interest at heart. Pay attention, do your homework and ask when in doubt and you'll be good!
one word his just fair
Don't do it!
The math path class is very challenging and requires at least the for each students to do the minimum amount of HW assigned by Prof. Kasfy in order to just pass the class. Overall he is a great prof.
Kasfy is by far the best math teacher I have ever taken. I took Math Path 7A/7B and it was such a breeze because he was such a clear and concise professor. His notes are online and his homework is exactly what you will see on the test. THERE ARE NO TRICKS. Who ever said he was a monster is a COCONUT LOON!! He's a professor who genuinely cares.
Kasfy is seriously the best, I used to struggle so much in math and was scared to take math path . His lecture is so precise, don't get it ? He will teach it again and again until you do ! he gives homework everyday but it's helpful and keeps you focused. Take his class he is awesome College classes are hard but work harder
His class is all about him doing exercise and expecting students to learn by looking at him. He gives a lot of homework which are the thing that helps learn but he won't try to help you if you are failing even if that's what he promises in the beginning of the semester.
Tests are 90% of your grade and there's about 8 in total. He's slow paced which helps those who struggle with math. Do. The. Homework. Not because it's extremely necessary to pass, but because it does help understand the material. He started the semester stressing over that.
Amazing math professor, very thorough! There's daily homework, not worth much, but you'll see it pay off when taking exams. There's nothing you don't see on the notes/homework that will be on the exam. If you go in ready to learn, you will gain so much from his class. I plan to take other levels of math with him, best math teacher in my experience
He uses one note, so that you can review his lecture easily. He respects his students; therefore, he answers every question from HW. If you can not understand, just ask to him. HW is little bit heavy, but same as other Math classes. Every odd# is HW. He teaches easy way and very simple. Every test problems come from HW. He drops the lowest exam.
Proffesor Kasfy is one of the best Math Professors at PCC. He gives lots of h.w,but it helps one prepare for the test. If you didn't understand something from the h.w he'll go over it in class. I'm definitely taking him again!!
Professor Kasfy is a really good teacher! I am not good at math, but i still manage to get an A in his class. You have to show up to class and his tests are based on the hw/book. Great Professor!
Kasfy must have been the best math professor I have encountered at PCC. As recommended by a friend, he really is a good professor. If you don't get something, just ask, "don't be shy". Take his classes if you really want to learn math, otherwise you may not like it. Sadly a major change ended my math career with him, but would definitely recommend.
Just do it. Just take him. -Shia Labeouf
The best Math instructor I have ever taken at PCC. Fair, tough and caring.
He was amazing. Just take him. He will literally help his students out with the same problem as many times as they need for them to understand.
I failed 5B 3 times prior to taking Kasfy's class. It is a hard class, but he cleared a lot of things up that other professors had trouble communicating. His lectures are done through Microsoft OneNote and are posted on Canvas. He is an open book of information; if you are unclear of something, ask him, and he will be happy to clear it up.
I genuinely lost faith in math before having him. Though his class was challenging, I have to say that his class was perhaps the most fun I've had in math. Math shouldn't be all theory and no application. I'm glad to learn that math has applications to daily life. He really is a great professor. I hope he will continue to teach for years to come.
i had given up all hope on math until I took Kasfy. he knows what students struggle with and focuses on correcting those common mistakes. if you struggle with math but are actually motivated to learn there's no way you won't pass his class. the notes he gives are practically a literal study guide to the test-there's never anything he didn't go over
Kasfy is well respected. He's a tough grader but cares for students education. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a professor. Do the work! It's math. In math you do not learn by example alone.... "Anyone who loves discipline, loves Knowledge. "
He's great! Just take him
He's the bomb dot com. JUST TAKE HIM
I tried taking 7B during the 6 week summer course and although I got a D, I just want to say Kasfy is hands down the best math teacher at PCC. I wish he was teaching 7B again this fall. This is my second class with Kasfy, I hope I get to take him again while at PCC. Tests are difficult but WORTH IT if you are serious about learning math!
Kasfy is the best math teacher i have ever had, if i could take all the math classes with him i would . he is very understanding , kind, with a good sense of humor professor.I learned a lot from him and i respect and appreciate him for that.
Do every single homework to help you understand the material. He drops your lowest test score. However, final exam is 30% of grade. Fair grader; I had several mistakes in a test and still got 100. Easy class if you pay attention and revise well.
Great Professor, he helped me conquer my struggles with math. Not being a math major, he really helps you understand the lessons, he put it in common terms. The tests are difficult if you try to cram the night before. Do your homework, show up and youll pass. Hes a great professor to work with. Theres a lot of homework but its not his fault.
Professor Kasfy really knows his stuff and shows you how to do every problem in the upcoming homework in OneNote during lecture which can be reviewed later at home. It wasn't until I took another math professor later on that I realized how effective his lecture strategy is. Great lectures with some jokes thrown in made for an enjoyable class.
You won't find a better teacher, who answers questions, is thorough and truly interested in your gains. He wants the class to participate. He gives a lot of homework. He is one of the best Math teachers - profs I've ever had. Take him, you'll grow and learn, and be using your time wisely.
good professor. good lecture. I ace all the exams and finals. test questions is homework-like. if u know the homework. ill be fine.
I took his math 55 differential Equation actually, there is no exact course number but it doesn't matter. The reason why I want to rate him is because I learnt a lot from his class, he tells you how to do problems and get to know the concepts, but I would say you need to read the textbook throughout as well. He always laughs at his own cold jokes.
Kasfy is an amazing professor, he teaches very simply. He is strict on how he wants his work but it's easy to follow. All of his tests are straight from the homework, and he will explain anything if you ask. He is very fast but it's possible to catch up. If you can pass his class with an A you will know everything within that course.
Even though I didn't pass 5stars! 1) Organized: amazing lecture notes, great canvas support. 2) clear grading criteria. If you did well on HW, you're ready. 3) Tests are very straightforward and can be finished in a reasonable time. 4) He's not the best for 1:1 support because he gets bored going over things, he is the best at positive enthusiasm.
He gives pretty good lectures, and tells exactly how to do the problems similar to homework questions. The tests are heavily based on homework. If you complete the homework, tests cannot be a problem. Besides, Prof. Kasfy is also helpful to answer your questions. I think I would take him again if there were any math course I still need to take!!!
DO FOUR THINGS; 1)Present (physically and mentally) in class 2) ALL homework, Skip and HIGHLIGHT problems you have ATTEMPTED but still cant answer 3) Learn how to do HW problems you HIGHLIGHTED day before. 4)BEFORE EXAM, make sure you KNOW how to do ALL homework problems. DO ALL of the above you will have an A
Professor Kasfy is the most funny professor I have ever seen. I really appreciate his lecture since he wants us to help him correct the wrong answer during the lecture.
This professor doesn't even know what he is talking about. Always gives us problems we have never seen during his test, neither does he mention at all. He even couldn't figure out the questions himself. I don't recommend him at ALL!
Attendance does not matter. I was not absent one day, turned in all of my homework, would participate during the lecture and did not pass the class. Students would be absent over 3 times and would not be dropped. Seeing students go to class to just take the chapter exams discouraged me, especially since I felt I was making a genuine effort.
Best math teacher Ive taken! You get the grade you work for. If you do and UNDERSTAND the homework you will be fine! He literally goes over any problems from the homework and exams that you didnt understand.
Good teacher but doesn't mean he is easy. Work hard and you will get an A unlike other classes. On tests he usually puts some of the most difficult problems so study those especially. He has lecture notes online but, notes are meaningless if you don't attend lectures and understand them. Study notes and homework for tests. Final is test questions.
He is a very knowledgeable professor, however to pass this class you need to keep up with lecture, you cannot fall behind on any section, if you do you fall behind on thew chapter, or to pass you do need to be proficient on the previous corse. Lectures are very clear, however lectures are available online but his writing is a bit confusing at times
I really don't know how to describe how good this professor is. Took 5A during winter, and would take him again. Basically do all homework problems that are assigned, and you will be fine for the class. Thanks him for being a perfect example how professors should look like.
I took Mathpath (for reference). He takes notes on Onenote and uploads them to canvas. Tests are more or less from homework, but he chooses the hard problems for the test. *ALSO* grades progressively harder on tests as the class goes on. He is happy to answer questions, but make sure you have specific problems, if you say "I'm lost" he won't help.
Professor Kasfy truly lives up to his RMP rating. He is fun, accessible, and knowledgeable. I recommend him to all math and non-math majors alike. However, I'd caution students who prefer when professors explain concepts really thoroughly. Although he is the best at PCC, Kasfy is so fast-paced he often skips important steps he assumes we know.
Dont take him. Exams are so hard. Hes so mean as well. Hes the worst math professor Ive ever had. Good luck if you take him.
Prof. Kasfy is extremely difficult. His tests are extremely difficult because the problems are way harder than the ones covered in class and on the homework, and he gives no partial credit. Even if you make a tiny mistake, it can end up costing you the entire problem. He doesn't curve. There is no extra credit. Don't take him if you value your GPA.
I enjoyed his class, but you have to show up for class if you want to pass. He does explain everything, but skipping class means that you end up with pages of non-hw problems for notes with no idea what to do. This class was very time consuming, be careful which classes you take at the same time. Always do your hw.
gives too much work, thinks his class is the only one at PCC, tests are hard as well, does not review before tests, doesnt let you use calculator on some tests, his handwriting is so bad you cant go back and read his lectures
The best professor at PCC. Lectures are very clear and posted online. His exams are challenging but if you attend all his classes and do your homework you should be okay.
His class is very difficult. If you looking for an A or B, don't take him. He makes his tests way more difficult than the hw. no curve. no ec. no partial credit. . I come to study from China, and take pre calc, math 5a, math 5b, math 10, and get A's in all the courses. I take math 5c with him, and i getting C. His tests is harder than hw.
Exams too hard. No curve. No extra credit. No partial credit. I get A in all other classes, but he give me D in this class. Don't take his class. If you cheat in course, he give you an F as course grades. If you study extremely hard, you might be able to get away with a C, but A and B grades in his class are nearly impossible.
I took Math 5B with him, and I failed. Then, I retook the class with another professor, and I got an A. Then, I took Math 5C with him. Now, I regret it. His tests are unreasonably hard. He doesn't curve. He gives no partial credit. His exams are way more difficult than the homework and examples given in class. Don't take because you get bad grade
He is unreasonably difficult. He chooses unbelievably difficult questions to put on the exams. He doesn't curve. There is no partial credit. There is no extra credit. If you make a small error in something very minute, he could end up taking all the points from the problem. No amount of studying will help you pass. Take him at your own risk.
The best teacher I took so far. I learned so much in this class. He is willing to answer as many questions on the homework. Most of his exam questions are from homework. Do not skip class and ask questions in class, he is very knowledgeable. You do need to do the work otherwise you will not pass.
It is too hard to pass not because of the material, but because of the professor's methods. There is no curve, no extra credit, and no partial credit. His exams are more difficult than anything you have seen. We started with over 30 students and only about 10 remain while most of the other profs have nearly full classes. He is way too difficult.
His class is very difficult. I'll put it into perspective. In MATH 5A,5B, 8, I got an A+ in all those classes. I mean I got 100% on all exams in all those classes except 2. When I took MATH 5C with Kasfy, I got a C-. My scores on his tests were usually around 65%. No curve, no extra credit, and no partial credit in his class. Exams are too hard.
Attend all of his classes and ask questions in class and on the homework. If you skip class make sure to ask him questions during office hours. attend all the classes and do the homework and you'll get a good grade. He is very knowledgeable and welling to help.
On the final today, the questions were way harder than the ones on previous exams. In fact, we haven't even seen questions that related to them on the homework and on the previous exams. The ones that somewhat resembled the ones we have seen were made a lot more harder, and they were extremely tricky.
He very lenient with homework. The problem is with his exams. He don't curve, and they way too hard. His final exam is unreasonably hard. He will test you on random concepts that you haven't even seen before. About 5 questions on today's final were on things that were never covered. He doesn't give you a study guide, so it is impossible to study.
We started with so many students that they had to open up another class to accommodate them(about 45 students were there on the first day). After the drop deadline, we were only left with around 10 students. He picks the hardest questions for the exams. On the final, many questions were ones that we haven't even seen before. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!
His exams are way too difficult, and the final had concepts we haven't even seen before. Don't take him.
Overall, he was pretty lenient with homework. For the exams, he would put problems that are extremely difficult. He doesn't curve and doesn't give extra credit. The final had some questions that we have never ever seen before. He doesn't even give us a practice test nor study guide, so we don't know what to expect. He is very unpredictable.
This final was unfair. Don't take a hit to your GPA from him. Didn't you notice that it was strange how some of the questions on the exam didn't even resemble previous exams. We can get better grades if all of us appeal our grades and complain about him. Don't take a bad grade from this guy. If all of us do it, the department will listen.
Truly great professor. The notes he writes are available online and are very useful while doing homework. The tests have some hard problems, but most of them are from the book and the final has mostly problems from previous tests.
He doesn't explain the concepts very well and often yells at students who need help. I got 100s on most exams because I sat in the classes for MATH 5B, and I write many solutions on Slader. When students ask him questions in class, he usually has them read the solution manual, and if they need some clarification, he asks them if they can read.
There isn't really any way to study for his exams. He usually uses random questions that are way too difficult. Put it into perspective, the homework has level 3 difficulty, and the exams have level 10 difficulty. Even if you know how to do every single homework problem, it doesn't mean you will do well on the exams. Don't take his class.
too hard. don't take.
He grades very harshly. no extra credit. no partial credit. no curve. the test are hard as well. no way to predict the type of question on test.
Lectures unclear. When you ask him question he isn't very helpful. I took math 5c with him and got F in the course. i retake course with another professor and got an A with the other professor. kasfy's tests are way too difficult. he expect us to have the same math knowledge as him and be master of math 5b and previous courses. be prepared
Too much homework. Tests are arbitrary. Some of the most obscure questions are asked on the tests. There is no practice test to guide your studying and no study guide. Basically the tests are unpredictable. He gives word problems that are very obscure that isn't covered in class. No curve. No extra credit. No partial credit.
he way to tough on grading. also, tests are unpredictable. he asks questions that aren't covered in class on tests. for example, he will teach you a concept, but on tests he will give you hard word problems and the problem that isn't word problem is a lot harder. in grading tests too harsh. 1 error in calculation can cost you entire problem.
The tests are arbitrary. He exposes us to certain applications and tests on completely different ones. Lets use derivatives as an example. He would expose us to relative rates and test us on optimization. That's the best way to put it. He does this on our exams: teaches us certain material and tests on different material. Also, grades harshly.
I wouldn't recommend. The best part about kasfy is that he doesn't care how you do the homework. tests are hard. real hard. incredibly hard. if he were the only prof available for a class i needed, i still wouldn't take because tests are arbitrary. especially over summer. tests us on problems not covered. expect you to be on his level. don't take
grades test harshly. no curve. no extra credit. no partial credit. even if you make small arithmetic error, you can lose all points on the problem. also, you are tested on problems that were never covered. lectures are also unclear. if you ask question he will complicate it even more and will sometimes get mad at you. he also way too fast.
Very difficult professor. Test questions are very random. No way to study for his exams. Professor is very degrading when you ask questions. I would recommend any other professor. If this is the only professor that offers the class, I advise that you wait until next semester to take the class.
When Kasfy lectures in class, he does the simplest problems for that section without clearly explaining the steps on how to do those problems. This causes us to need outside resources. Then, for the tests, he gives us extremely difficult problems that require a mastery of the material. He even gives us word problems.
on tests, gives problems never seen before and grades very harshly. he sometimes takes away all the points from the problem if you make a small arithmetic error or get the correct answer while skipping a step. test questions are arbitrary and do not reflect what we covered. suggest taking with Riley because Riley is fair.
Don't take him. He asks unfair questions on tests, which we have never seen before. He shows no mercy in grading, gives zero partial credit, and doesn't like to help students. He also brags about how he failed so many students, and he talks about how he totally destroys students' careers by "failing them so hard." I wouldn't take his classes again.
His tests are too hard, and they contain questions that were never covered in class. In class, he goes so quickly and expects you to understand everything at his level of mastery even though he doesn't teach you everything. On the tests, he gives you the most complex word problems and takes away all the points for the problem if you make an error.
M5C is really hard when you take with Kasfy. There's no curve, no partial credit, and no extra credit. He will give you extremely difficult questions on the test, ones you haven't seen before. Very few test questions are from class. He is just way too hard. He is also very rude and not willing to help students. He get mad when students seek help.
The best, highly recommended.
I took math 8 twice and there is no comparison between Kasfy and the other professor. I learned so much in his class. Take him.
took his class last year. Very clear lectures. Knowledgeable, funny and caring. will definitely take again.
we get lot of homework but i dont have problem with it. test have too many hard question. he also always late to class and expect you to be there on time. for homework in beginning of class when student ask question he copy solution from solution manual on to the board. class harder than need to be.
Always tells students about how he failed so many students and how he is "better" than other profs. He doesn't explain concepts well, and expects you to master them. In class, he does easy problems but test you on hard problems.
Too hard
The best professor ever, he givens extra credit on every test, the exam questions are from the homework.
Excellent teacher. Knows the material and explains it well. Simply put, he makes a very hard subject easy to understand.
Will definitely take again.
Extra credit on every test, the equivalent of two questions. Exam questions like the problems done in class. Highly recommended.
This prof makes the class harder than it should be. Don't be fooled. He spams good ratings for himself. He makes the exams harder than they should be, and gives out too much homework. Also, he doesn't explain concepts clearly during lectures.
Excellent teacher.
Tests us on concepts we have never seen before.
Gives too much homework. Tests are too hard. Hes mean as well.
He is way too harsh on us. He would sometimes threaten students to fail them if they give him bad ratings. Don't take.
He is a bad prof. He makes exams way too difficult. He give way too much homework.
He is very strict with points he gives. He wont let a single point slip through the cracks. What I mean is that if you make a small calculation error because, you know, youre human, he wont forgive and will take all the points away. He is very ruthless with the tests. Also, he tests is on material never covered in class, so be prepared for that.
He gets mad at students easily. He also always shows up to class late. He makes lots of errors in class. Tests way too hard.
Got our third exam yesterday and he listed the exam questions on the board by section and numbers. The entire exam was from the homework with 10% extra credit. If this is not easy, I do not know what is? If you do the homework and ask questions, you will definitely pass the class.
Exams impossible to pass. No extra credit, so we cannot pass. If he give extra credit we will be able to pass. He also very unapproachable. Dont take. Worst prof ever.
By far the most direct professor that I took so far. Tells you what to study, tells you how to study, and what to expect on every test.
He looks for ways to take away points on tests. For one of the tests, he gave me zero points on a problem even though I got the steps correct but made a calculation mistake because he wanted to keep my grade below an A. He even said that he doesnt want half the class getting As, whatever that means.
Doesnt explain concepts clearly and expects you to be at his level of math by the time the test takes place. He doesnt teach you everything that is on test.
Expects too much from us. Grades too harshly. I dont think it is good idea to take discrete advanced math courses with him. Maybe you do better in general basic course.
If you are a science major, take this guy. He will prepare you well for what to come. You learn so much from him.
Makes class harder than it should be. Says math 5b needs to be difficult and that hell give you a run for your money just because. Makes tests way too hard and gives us no leeway whatsoever. Tells funny stories about former students and other classes though.
He is very rude and he doesnt help very much when you dont understand concepts very well. His lectures are very unclear. He even makes fun of students who dont pass his class.
Very bad and mean prof. Dont take.
Excellent class with an excellent professor.
A hard class that can be managed if you do the work.
Tests us on questions we have never ever seen before and grades way too harshly.
Worst prof ever
Puts hard questions that we have never ever seen before on tests. Doesnt curve, no extra credit, and not good with partial credit.
Focuses way too much on making the class difficult so that we dont get high grades, but he doesnt really put an emphasis on true learning and honing ones desire for the pursuit of knowledge. Instead, he on purpose makes tests harder than they should be, and if the class does well on the tests, he makes the next one astronomically harder.
Its not that the material is hard. In fact, the material is relatively easy to learn, but Kasfy chooses to make it harder than it should be to keep out grades down. I got a D when I first took it with him a while back, but I got an A with another professor. I also got As in 5A and 5B as well.
His class is harder than should it be
He always shows up to class late and is very unclear in the lecture. Also make tests hard than homework and everything. Also he dont teach you everything and expect you to know all the problems.
Bad prof dont take
Lectures unclear and tests arbitrary. When you talk to him about it, he tells you to blame previous professors.
Dont take. Not inclined to help answer questions.
Makes so many mistakes in class and blames the students. Dont take his class. He is a bad professor.
Tests us on things we have never seen before. Also gives out way too much hw.
In this class, hard work doesnt mean anything. I worked so hard throughout the semester and I am not getting an A. Some of my classmates cheat and get better grades than me. It is unfair.
Puts random things not covered in class on tests. Also, he spends so much time deviating from the regular material we need to learn. He doesnt understand that he did so many levels of education and there is a huge gap between our knowledge. He sets the bar too high. Think of it like this he teaches integrals and expects us to know all applications
Prof Kasfy seems to make class more difficult than it should be. He makes tests way too hard with questions we have never seen before. Also gives too much homework that is due before each class.
At beginning of semester kasfy said he will help us to pass course if we struggle, but after the drop deadline, he became a lot more worse. Always telling students to blame their previous instructors for having a little trouble on some of the exams. Kasfy doesnt teach much of the stuff on tests. Not even fifty percent of test question from class.
Kasfy assigns too much homework that is due before each class. Also tests are harder than anything covered in class and on homework. There is no partial credit, no extra credit, and no curving at all. That means that missing one problem because of a small silly mistake can cost you your grade. He will show you no mercy.
Kasfy put questions on the final that were never ever covered. He totally deceived us.
Kasfy told us that we should use the previous tests to study for the final, but the questions on the final were extremely different. Also, they were a lot more difficult.
Final had some questions that werent ever covered, which really lowered my grade. If you take his class, the exams are one thing, but the final has things that were never covered.
He intentionally made the final not represent anything in class.
His lectures are unclear, and his tests are very difficult. The final is a completely different ballgame. His final has questions that were never covered in class. I strongly suggest taking math courses with other professors.
This prof sucks. He made his final too hard. Dont take his class.
Kasfy makes the class harder than it should be. His final was near impossible. There is really no way to study for it. In this class hard work means nothing. You have to be one of those students who just gets everything to pass math 5b with Kasfy.
Lectures are unclear, and he doesnt thoroughly explain how to master the concepts. He just does some of the easy problems in class. Hw is similar to things in class. The tests on the other had are a lot harder and have things not covered anywhere. The final has questions that were never covered and is very hard.
He assigns too much homework. The tests are difficult because they contain problems we have never even seen before. The final was unreasonably hard. The final contained questions that were so complex and questions on things we havent seen before. There is no partial credit, no extra credit, and no curving/scaling. He also doesnt teach well.
I wouldnt take his class because his tests are unpredictable. Also, he is very hard to approach, and he gets made when you ask him questions. Also, he assigns way too much homework.
do not take this class, he does not care about his students, his tests do not cover anything taught. His lectures do not prepare you for his tests. go with someone else if you care about your gpa and learning experience.
A friend highly recommended this professor. I was nervous about taking his class from the previous reviews but I registered for his 8 week class this semester anyways. He shows us a previous test and our test is almost the same as the sample. I can't speak for previous reviews, but our test questions were all from the homework.
Took mathpath 8 and 5A this semester. Excellent professor, his lectures are clear and posted online. He givens extra points on every test.. Highly recommended.
Took this professor for Math 5B and Math 55 last year. He is funny, smart and caring. His class prepared me well for Calpoly.
He is a carrying professor and his lectures are amazing. I recommend to take this class with him.
Very good experience i highly recommended
Highly recommended ,care about students
Great professor highly recommended care about his students
This review is long overdue. Professor Kasfy is very intelligent and very patient. If you have a question, best believe he will answer it with patience. I took Math 150 and left the class with more confidence in math, took Stats and passed and now I'm taking BUS 14A and doing well, all thanks to him. I wish he was teaching business math.
Great professor to take your class with highly recommended
Kasfy is funny, patient and welling to help outside of class. He answers as many questions as you have on the hw. After two math classes with him, my faith in math is restored.
If you want to learn math properly, and are willing to put in the time and effort for the A, then take Kasfy. To pass the class, you have to do the homework, end of story. His notes are done on his computer using OneNote and he uploads it after every class. He is truly passionate about math and will help you if you ask. Highly recommend.
This guy transformed me from a C student to an A student. I never liked math and after his class I'm loving it. I wish he would teach the sequence of classes every semester at the same time so that I could take him for all of my math courses.
You need to find the time to finish your hw is what he tells you over and over and he is correct. To pass his class you need to finish the homework. The lectures for the class are available on Canvas you need the hw questions from the book( you can copy from the library). He give extra credit on every test. Test questions are just like the examples
Amazing lectures, very harsh grading. Partial credit grade depends on what he thinks of you or how he feels that day. Compare your exams with other students and see he gives different amounts of points for the exact same work. He gets very frustrated if you ask a question he thinks is too simple. Great lectures man. Just dont ask him any questions
I'm so happy this I took this class during winter and I'm getting an A. The material is hard but Kasfy makes it manageable. Extra points on each exam and his test questions are from the homework. Will definitely take again.
The lectures are great. You'll see for yourself within a matter of weeks, they've been iterated and honed in over the years to be intuitive and easy to understand. Test questions are all of the same type as the homework. Partial/extra credit. Last thing, I've never seen prof. Kasfy be less than patient and open with students. Highly recommended
Kasfy is a great and funny professor. Content of lectures and exams is very straightforward.
Very inconvenient and doesn't think about the student's life outside of school. very heavy amount of homeworks and the tests are very difficult NOT counting the fact that he sucks at teaching. just runs through the lesson and calls it a day. WASTE OF TIMEE, save yourself and take another professor :)
He was a decent teacher. I ended up doing a lot of learning by myself through YouTube and I feel like his lectures didn't cover everything. Test were sometimes harder than the homework which is whatever, but be warned. If you apply yourself and work hard you will definitely get an A
Kasfy is the man! He's an honest, acquired taste sprinkled w/ dry humor, but that's math people for you. Tests aren't easy, but they're curved. Do as much HW as abled, and turn it in for full credit. Ask what for help w/ you didn't understand. He wants you to succeed. Take notes from his video lectures. Lowest test grade replaced by final's grade.
It is so hard to take his class. Tons of homework and exams are so hard. Dont pick him.
DO NOT Take him!!!
HW is given after every lecture that is due by the next one. Exams are very similar to the HW. Kasfy expects you to know content from past classes, but offers resources to keep you on track. Additionally, this class was mainly focused on calculations rather than theory. Overall, the class is a breeze if you are capable of staying on top of things.
he is so nice
Professor Kasfy is the best math teacher I ever have. I take him for math 8,5A and 5B. His explanations are very clear and the test is based on homework, make sure to do homework and you will pass the class. He also does homework discussion and he always replies e-mail fast! If you don't like math, take him and you will understand math.
Professor Kasfy is an amazing teacher at PCC. He really wants us to learn about the critical thinking and how to approach a problem using the calculus concepts. Although there are homework assigned for every chapters, his intention is to make us learn how to solve the problem. He explains the problems that we can't solve in the class meetings.
Worst learning experience if you decided to take online classes. All his lectures are on his Youtube channel that you can easily access, however most of the time volume are too low including mic pops which make it barely understandable. He calls you out and yells if you ask something that you trying to understand. His ego is too high. Watch out!
Just avoid Professor Kasfy. The exams are nothing like the material mentioned during the lectures neither from homework. When he grades your test he will not provide a feedback of why he is removing points from your test. He hates when you are bothering him by asking questions, so avoid asking him any time of question related to the course.
By far the most difficult class Ive taken at PCC. So many homework assignments and they dont help at all with grades, they only bring it down if you miss one. Tests are difficult and the notes barely cover it, plus theres barely enough time to complete tests. I do not recommend this class if you are not already proficient in math.
I took professor Kasfy for three semesters in Math 3, 5A, and 5B. All of his lectures are on YouTube. He uses the class time to answer as many questions as we ask. His exam questions are from the book. Every exam has one extra credit problem on it except for the final. Keep up with the homework and you will be okay.
YouTube lectures: bad sound quality and key uncorrected mistakes that make content more confusing. Put a question on final from a 5B course on accident! Taught myself, but a lot of my peers struggled. He is accommodating sometimes, but overall rude. Don't get to ask questions about new content until after we turn in HW (?!)
Professor Kasfy is very blunt about the class being difficult but does not lighten the burden of the subject and puts the responsibility of teaching on the student through lecture videos that are dry, numb, and an overall nuisance. If you cant teach yourself this is not the class for you. Furthermore, the majority of the grade is only the test.
We pretty much work on our own. He'll give a link to his Youtube video and we'll have to watch it. During class time, he's always there to answer your question. If you're good at math and can keep up with HW, just take his class. Every single question on the test is from the lecture. Easy for some people, hard for me.
Excellent class. I work two jobs and he is willing to meet with me late nights and on the weekend via zoom. I e-mail him questions and ask if could work them out and he e-mails me the worked out problems in no time. Highly recommended.
His Lecture videos are great. His exam questions are from the lecture notes. He gives extra credit on every exam.
Exam questions from the homework. All his lectures are online. Extra credit on all of his exams.
A very nice guy. Helpful in zoom meeting if you attend. Exams are challenging but it is from the homework. I would take again.
Don't get fooled by these wonderful reviews. Professor gives so much hw and you can barely understand what he is trying to say from the lectures. If you don't want to pass, then take his class. Otherwise, please take another professor.
be prepaired to fail. tests are almost impossible to pass
This professor is really hard to work with, he does answer emails but occasionally, his video is too fast, his test is hard compared to what we do in homework, and his handwriting takes some time to get used to. But overall, it is your own kind of class. Would not recommend it if you are trying to learn something.
Lectures are garbage, unhelpful, and riddled with mistakes. You have an hour and only an hour to download, print, complete, take pictures, convert to pdf, and upload 3pg+ exams, only handwritten exams are accepted. Exam averages for entire class sat around a D. Additional 1pt off every min that exam is late.
I got A+'s in all of calc5A, 5B, and 5C, but this class was so tough. Exam averages for the class were never above a C. Lectures consist of many errors and gross coughing fits. Many tears were shed
he never actually lectures he just uses class time to "help you" with your home work. all the learning material is online in his lecture videos but it doesn't make much sense because he skips a lot of steps when doing math. he mumbles and coughs a lot its really weird. if you're okay with self study then take it.
This professor was horrible to work with. He doesn't really teach in person, but rather, answers questions you have in class. His exams are hard and sometimes aren't even like the ones assigned in the textbook or his lecture videos. He also doesn't really answer his emails (if not at all). 100% not recommended.
Worst math professor at PCC. Worst professor at PCC. Does not show up for office hours. No curve.
He wouldn't teach at all he would just ask us questions about the homework and then go over those questions and then when we asked him for help he would tell us to just study more and we would be fine. The test have almost nothing to do with the homework and the lectures. He was also a tough grader and wouldn't let you re-take the test.
this guy is a totally horrible. the worst of the worst, like really bad. His lectures and videos are of poor quality. i don't even understand what he is teaching in his lectures because it isn't clear. He also assigns a bunch of homework and takes the testing too serious. I warn yall that you will expect a hard time and he will get on your nerves.
Taking this class as a current student at a 4 year. Lectures are 3 years old and posted on youtube. You can't understand a thing this guy says and he is one of the harshest graders I've ever had, even more so than the professors at my actual 4-year. Would NOT recommend unless he is your absolute last choice, even then just take Calc somewhere else.
Take it if you've already mastered the course you want to take and don't need any help. The tests determine your whole grade yet the homework is due every day and there is no tolerance for late work. No test prep at all, and when grading the test it is either you do it the exact way he wants or you fail.
Might be one of the worst classes I have ever taken. He takes several days to respond to emails, his lectures are completely useless, and 80% of your grade is based on tests that (in my experience) people could only pass by cheating. His class was so awful that it is the first one I have ever dropped. Do yourself a favor and avoid him at all costs.
No late work is accepted unless you have proof you did it before the deadline. All lectures are online, watch outside of class, and then you ask any questions you have in person (he encourages you to do so). Homework/notes are 10pts, tests are 100pts, so missing one assignment can put your grade at a disadvantage if your bad at taking tests.
Lectures were all on youtube and only vaguely covered the topics, homework and the tests were completely different (he even admitted to that). 22/30 of the people who took it dropped, and during the tests half of the people were cheating. Maybe i'm just stupid, but this is one of the worst classes I've ever taken.
He's very lazy, takes forever to respond to emails, he took 3-5 business days to respond. L Professor bro. Save yourself the time and don't bother taking him.
I hope this professor isn't your last option if you are planning on taking Math. I finished the test on time but he still took away 1/4 of the points from me, and said it was late. Lectures are unclear, he does not teach at all. Unless you are very good at math, or else please don't take him. His tests are weird and hard too, unrelated to HW.
A very easy class to pass if you watch the lecture videos. Most of his exam questions are from the lectures. Extra credit points on every test and he curves the class.
Easy. Guided notes are provided which can use in quizzes and exams. Watch her lecture videos and fill out the guided notes, and then nothing hard.
The exam questions are from the lecture notes(exact problems). Good lectures, he need to work on his writing a lillte better. Great class, wish he was teaching Math 5B.
On 2nd test I did 1 question correctly-I forgot to actually write the numerical answer, even though I solved it. On 4th test I did 2 questions correctly-he refused to give me partial credit. Another classmate informed me that she challenged for more points and got 10 extra points. The professor is unfortunately biased, and should be reported.
Took this as a six week online winter course, and I probably shouldn't have. Lots of assignments and lectures to watch. Attendance wasn't mandatory for every class, they basically served as office hours. But all exams were in person. Definitely possible to get a good grade if you watch the lectures, do the homework and study for the exams.
Lectures cover the material well, but tests can be tricky. Using unstuckstudy ai and the provided guided notes helps a lot. Overall a manageable class if you stay engaged.
He was very fair and understanding that calculus is hard. His homework was very fair and actually pretty light. But tests are almost your whole grade and the nature of free response calculus is tricky. So make sure you lock in on every test.
Professor Kasfy is not a bad professor— just talks a lot. He's open to helping you when you ask for it. I liked his notes a lot, and he worked out problems with us. We had 5 exams in total, and 1 final cumulative final exam. He had his notes online so majority of the class didn't come until the final. Be prepared to do work, though, it is calculus.
He has a pretty strong accent but it didn't interfere with my understanding too much. He makes it clear that you must practice and go to class in order to succeed, which I completely agree with. He definitely cares about his students a lot and is always available for office hours.
Just run away!!! The points he gave at the exam is heavy, and he'll deduct your all points on the question even you have some parts of the ans are correct. And he'll also lost some questions to correct and give points. The email is also delayed replying. Really don't recommend to take his class, unless if you wanna punish yourself.
Be prepared to learn on your own. He has lecture videos but the videos have small mistakes in them that can throw you off. He has note templates that are helpful and sometimes the questions used during the lectures will be on the test. Overall only take if you are good at math or willing to work hard.
Took his 6-week winter Linear Algebra class. He only does applications, no proofs. Exams are problems from his lecture videos. Classes were glorified office hours. He's very straightfoward. Let's you use shortcuts to solve problems. Lenient on grading. It's not an easy class because LinAlg is just a tricky subject in general.
Hard, Online = self teach DON'T TAKE WINTER SEM. If u do, only watch lectures, often uses difficult/notable problems on tests. Textbook = useless. 5-7 HW weekly, worth nothing. Test proctored & majority of grade. Curves heavily but rule where final needs to be 65+ to pass. No calculator on final, more than half dropped. V nice guy tho rounded 77-80
Good teacher if you have prior knowledge in Algebra and pre calculus. Provides textbook, in the hybrid class you do the odd numbers and the professor does even problems from the book in his lectures. Most problems in test are from the homework, but he adds some from his lectures, so be attentive in watching the lectures (yt). Flexible class.
a very good professor, explains the material very well. His 5A class with the free textbook had barely any homework and the work is SO much easier than the Stewart book. He never made us simplify work on tests which saved time. Attend class it helps. Bit of a tough grader and tries to scare students away for the first week. Def recommend his class
I wish I could say he was a good professor. The textbook was basically useless, video lectures were confusing sometimes, and homework wasnt that helpful either. My issue was that he never replied to any of my (many) emails and I missed two tests while being in the hospital which lowered my grade severely and I had to withdraw. Not accessible :(
The class average for Final was 58%. More than half dropped the class. Hassan is a nice old guy, but his teaching material is straight garbage. Online vids have scuffed microphone and video quality. To pass this class, you need to self-teach very well. Using ChatGPT taught me better and more than his lectures. His Final was similar to his review.
As someone who has never gotten a grade below a B-, this was an extremely had course, there are many errors on his lecture videos which are also the only resource you can rely on as attendance is optional so you only show up to take a test, and there are no practice exams. I suggest taking this class with another professor.
Doable but difficult class. Tests make up 90% of grade. He curved our class pretty generously. Most questions on the test were taken directly from homework and most questions on the finals were taken directly from pass tests. There were a few questions on the tests that were just not covered at all on lectures/homework.
Lecture videos are from 2-5 years ago, bad audio quality, illegible handwriting, and lots of mistakes in his videos. His office hours are from 7-8am, and his email replies are two to three words. Clearly, he does not care about communication. Overall, a professor who puts no effort into this class, and grades the exams quite harshly.
Didn't take math for almost 2 years and had to quit my job to take this class but he is a good prof just do the homework and go to class. 90% exams final worth 30% but its an easy final. My class was curved 70%+ was a B and 85%+ was an A.
love this man. he helped me get an a in calculus as someone who isnt good at math. respesct!
