If you end up in her class, be sure to sit close to the front, as she is cvery difficult to hear. Bring a voice recorder too, because she tends to whiz through the notes and lectures. Shes kind with the best intentions, but is a difficult teacher and expects the most of her students.
Hattie does mean well but she grades on emotions. If she's having a good day expect a good grade otherwise you better be perfect. DO NOT have you phone go off in class, she gets really upset. Hattie is a good teacher overall. Yes, she does breeze through notes and lecture but you do not need a voice recorder.
I really liked her. The expectations of the class are clear. It is said that 1/3 of the genetics class fails, but I breezed through it. Labs are boring, but that is assumed. My 1 complaint: when students ask dumb, unrelated questions she answers them thoroughly. Which continues the belief that there is no such thing as a dumb questions. there is.
Great teacher! Occasionally gets flustered but not very often. I found her very honest and would try to answer questions so everyone understood. She does work fast, so if you have a question be sure to ask or she will just assume you understand. I would take a class from her again!
Hattie is kind of odd. I felt like she put out this vibe that when you have a question she will sort of make you feel stupid. She is very clear about what you need to do to pass her class and there is not much homework. It is mostly just the exams that you need to worry about doing well on. I would'nt reccoment genetics with her.
Genetics was extremely interesting with Dr. Dambroski. She made it interesting and the labs are cool. Be sure to do all the labs, if you miss 3 in a semester you automatically fail the course. Tests are moderately hard but not too bad as long as you study a little outside of class and take notes in class. I would take another course with her.
OMG worst prof. ever!seriously DON'T take her class! Not only is her class almost completly inchomprehesible, but if u have a question/dont know something, she will answer ur question with another question/tell u to figure it out!Accuses u of cheating & then when the cheater finally admits, she still gives a 0!ps ha8s paper clips or anything unstapled!
I loved her! the first day she came off as a cut throat but after that you realized she was just marking territory. She is always available for students who are willing to try, and if you keep up with the work, and respect her, she will respect you back and help you at any time. also i have never had a email not responded to in less then a hr.RECOM
Great teacher, very helpful. She geniunely cares about the subject she teaches. Interesting lectures, tests are difficult but read the book and there shouldn't be any problem. She seems like she'll be difficult the first day, but she's just laying down ground rules. Follow those and it'll be a great class.
WORST CLASS EVER!!! If you dont understand, she makes you feel stupid and mlike you should automatically get it. you can pass all 15 labs with 10/10 and do so so on the test AND THAT WILL FAIL YOU! Seriously worst class ever, shes really rude as well. Do NOT take her, I ended up dropping te class with 5 other students
I loved her class! She's very helpful and always available if you have questions or need help. She appears really tough in the beginning but she just wants your respect as she respects you. Exams are tough but you should be fine if you read and understand the textbook. I would take another class with her.
Great class i really enjoy it and she presents material in an understandable way but as a person i can find her very short and rude at some points def not short of strict. Blames alot of students and test averages usually lean towards failing but I've been doing fine so if you don't get it drop it. Miss 3 labs you fail.
Hatti is enthusiastic about bilogy. She is always available and will take the time to answer all questions in lecture and recitation. The tests are hard. She does not play around and gets irritated with students who are not serious and who disrupt. She is fair. Do NOT skip labs, read chapters and Prep-U online & study hard.
avergae
She doesn't appear interested in teaching the class and is often irriated with the questions that her students asked.
WARNING! don't take her!!!
Love her! Tests are difficult and labs are easy but a lot of work. She is EXTREMELY passionate about Biology which inspired me to be as well (and I HATED biology). Readily available if you have any questions. Doesn't have much tolerance for laziness. Do the work and put the effort in and you will love this class.
Probably the worst professor I've ever had. She always seemed to be angry about something unlike a lot of professors who seem to actually like their job. Don't bother asking questions in front of anyone, she will make you feel stupid and embarrass you in front of the whole class. I dropped the class due to her rudeness and poor attitude.
Human Genetics. It was hard. I'm glad I stuck it out, but I know a lot of people who dropped. The reasons were because she can tend to be rude and makes you feel like an idiot if you ask 1 question and don't get it after 1 explanation. Also, don't ask in front of the class. Sad to say she makes you feel kinda dumb. Great in person.
she shouldn't be professor at all. she is bad.
Hattie was a wonderful professor; one of the best I've had! That being said, DO NOT take this class if you're lazy; she expects you to do assignments, read the textbook, & attend lab each week. I really had to work for my A. She's a bit strict, but she wants you to succeed, and she's clear & firm on her expectations. Approachable outside of class.
I loved Hattie, she was super helpful, super interested in Biology. If you love Biology, she is very interested in helping you get it. She is strict, and takes control of the classroom, which I appreciate. I don't go to college to listen to 19 yr olds try to sound smart.I would definitely take a class from her again. Exams are fair, not easy.
I wouldn't take her again. In order to earn an A you will have to read every chapter, take online practice tests, and attend every class, making few mistakes along the way. Even if you have a 89.99% final grade you will still receive a B. Half the class dropped by the end of the semester. Fight for your points, but she'll resent you for it.
Anyone who didn't like Hattie is probably right out of high school and got mad because she told them to wake up and turn their cell phone off. She is an excelent teacher and loves it when people ask questions. It shows you are learning or at least trying. You must study hard. Her tests are dificult. In case you forgot, YOU ARE IN COLLEGE!
Hattie is a fantastic professor! I am currently in her Human Genetics class and it is so interesting. She is very passionate about what she's teaching which makes it so much easier to learn from her. I personally do NOT think she makes people feel stupid. She loves questions, and if she can't give you a good answer, she'll look it up for you. Love!
If you want to keep your GPA, do NOT take this course. If you want help with your class, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. Speaking from a 3.97 gpa student, I would NEVER take her class again. Wait for another professor that I heard is very helpful and approachable and CLEAR! Grades even labs hard. "Ummmm" "Are you getting this" NO HATTIE WE ARENT!
Don't take this class, I'm still in it it and everyone wishes they would've check ratemyprofessor.com! So here's your warning.
Hattie is phenomenal. Yeah, you have to work for your grade, but this is college, is it not? She's funny and clear, and she won't move on until everyone gets it. If you don't get it, & don't speak up, how is she supposed to know? She can't read your mind! I just hate to see people bash an amazing professor because they don't want to work. Love her!
Great professor, extremely nice and approachable. Always willing to answer any questions and expects you to attend each lab. This class covers a lot of great stuff. Pay attention and you might learn a little something interesting about how life works:)
This is a great class. It is definitely not a class for slackers, but its college. Come with a thinking cap and willingness to learn. Hattie is super helpful and really approachable. Highly recommended
Simply amazing. Great class, great professor. She is so enthusiastic with people who are interested in her class. You ask one question and she does her best to give you the most possible knowledge on anything that has to do with that subject. You can tell she loves what she's teaching, and to me, that is what makes an extraordinary professor.
Hattie is one of the best teachers I've ever (yes, ever) had; and I didn't even get a very good grade in this class. Just be respectful and do things when she says. She HATES cell phones and talking during her class. She's very nice (unless you ask questions that have already been answered or off topic) and you can see how passionate she is.
I've heard many people say that the biology department at Normandale is not very good and the professors are bad. Except for Hattie. She is a brilliant professor and teaches a really interesting class. If you're looking into biology, take Hattie!
Unlike many professors at Normandale, Hattie actually knows what she's talking about. She doesn't feed you all kinds of crap and try to sound smart. She actually IS smart and is very educated on the subject she teaches. I really like her enthusiasm as well. It's so much better than having some monotone professor who puts you to sleep. Take
Human Genetics is seriously the BEST biology course at Normandale. Such a fun class, I would take it again. Great professor.
SIMPLY AMAZING.
Really great, actually. Knows what she's talking about and teaches you some pretty cool things. Labs are actually kind of fun and helped with the learning experience. I'd recommend Hattie.
Hatti is fantastic. She doesn't mess around. Homework is do at the begining of class or 20% docked immediately. Tests are hard. I put in 25 hrs a week including lab outside of lecture to get an A. An A is attainable, but she WILL make you work for it. You learn a lot!
Do you like you GPA? Don't take this classs by her. She probably wrote all these reviews because she does mention RMP.com on the first day of class.
Not gunna lie, the class was fairly difficult and Hattie is kind of strict, but I really enjoyed the class. From day one she's clear with what she expects from you so it's up to you whether you want to put in the effort or not. If you do you'll get a lot out of it, because she really knows what she's talking about.
Hattie is somewhat strict, but incredibly nice. When I say strict I mean with handing things in on time and CELL PHONES. My advice: don't even bring it to her class. But she really is very kind and I enjoyed having her as a professor.
Really good in the lab. She's very helpful and doesn't get annoyed when you ask lots of questions. She does pace around the room a lot during lectures though which'll keep you spinning around constantly in your chair, but I guess it keeps your attention...
Hattie was great, she made enjoy biology. Some students had a hard time, but if you showed up, paid attention, & did your homework you could easily get an A. She made me want to make biology my major.
Hattie is one of those professors who either inspires you beyond words or is one you don't quite care for. I feel like there's not much of an in between. I know many students, myself included, who are biology majors solely because of Hattie. Then there are the people who thinks she's a hard-ass. Put in the effort and she could change you.
Just a warning, she comes off VERY intimidating. Half the class is afraid to approach her outside of class, but if you can get up the nerve you'll be glad you did. Not sure why she puts up such a strong front, but that's all it is; a front. She's actually very sweet, kind, and helpful when you talk to her one on one.
Genetics is a hard subject. Hatti will honestly let every body know about the course on the first day of the class. She is very strict on home assignments and lab reports. Attendance is mandatory. Read the syllabus line by line .Extremely helpful one to one and in lab.Work hard A is attainable but not with 89.9%. Be sure you will get 90+.
She is a really good teacher especially when you ask questions. You will not get the most out of her if you just sit and listen to lecture. You get so much more out of her when you ask her to elaborate because she really does her best to try and answer your questions completely.
Hattie is intimidating and can be condescending. If you visit her in office hours she will be nice and helpful though. Everything was straightforward. Going to lecture is A MUST to get an A, though. I didn't miss one class and barely made the A. Study and youlll be fine. Perfect class to take to satisfy bio requirement.
Genetics is not an easy topic, so it's not an easy class. You really have to work at it if you want to do well. Dr. Dambroski seems intimidating at first, but if you need help she's more than happy to help you, especially if she can tell you really want to learn. She's really a sweetheart once you get to know her.
Hatti is unskilled as an educator. I pray she does not become tenured. Her mandatory lectures are dull, incoherent, irrelevant; I have never seen a prof stumbling through lecture notes like she does. She is rude and treated some students with contempt. My recommendation is: take Genetics elsewhere. I received an A in this class DESPITE her.
Good professor, offers valuable help when sought out. Her class is by no means easy and her exams are on the difficult side, but it is a very interesting course. Not to mention she has the most beautiful head of hair and blue eyes that I have ever seen. Unless you do something to irritate her, then those eyes get to be quite cold.
This class was pretty hard. There were times where Hattie treated students in a condescending way but if you are on her good side (meaning you interact in class and with her) she can be a great teacher! She knows her stuff and is willing to explain it in detail outside of class if you need more help.
You had better hope she likes you or you're not going to have a good experience. She can be two different people. I've seen the way she interacts with students she likes and those she doesn't, and let me tell you right now, DON'T PISS HER OFF. I've found it's pretty easy to do.
I confirm, Hattie is like 2 persons. Very nice personally, but a bear in class. Reserves the right to change her mind every minute. She asked to be reminded to talk about our next exam. When reminded, the answer is no! She wrote on the board exactly what to study for a quiz; changed her mind at quiz time. Loads of work & I can't learn from her!
Great professor. Very intelligent. She is one I advise you to take advantage of.
She grades hard and likes to dock you points but won't tell you what is wrong or what you could do to improve. She is a very smart person but terrible at teaching her knowledge to her students. Hattie talks in circles during her lectures.
Great person, but does not know when to stop talking. I took this as an intro class, and I have never been more stressed for a class then this one (genetics), she talks really quickly and her study guides are semi helpful at best. In our class she was way behind so she tended to try and cram two lectures into one, leading to confusion.
Hattie is a wonderful professor! Lectures are clear and make a lot of sense. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE LAZY. Study for the exams and do all of your labs thoroughly. If you truly don't understand something, she WILL help you during her office hours. Don't use your cellphone or talk in class. Be respectful and she will do the same back.
If you don't like to think critically about things and want an easy A, Hattie will be a nightmare. If you want to be challenged and understand the world in a new way, she is phenomenal. She is intimidating but will absolutely do her best to help you understand the material. She demands respect from her students, and will give it to you in return.
This class itself is really difficult (Human Genetics), but Dambroski isn't helpful and it's terrifying to approach her. The tests are difficult and she grades hard. You better listen to every word she says in class and memorize it all, because you won't find the info anywhere else. The textbook doesn't have everything in it. I hated this class.
She is a great teacher! Her tests are extremely difficult. You must know EVERYTHING she talks about in class or you won't get higher than a C on the tests. She is always open to questions and loves students who ask questions. Labs are easy but she grades them tough. Take your time on the labs!
Hattie is a wonderful professor away from class and helpful. She can be shady, rude in class. Hattie has a passion for her love of science but can easily make you lose your love for that passion by the way she explains her theory of science in class. Work must be on time and neat, a little confusing at times when grading. Hattie will take points off
YOU MUST GO TO CLASS! She is a very good listener and answers any questions you have. You should make it a priority to read the textbook and go to her office hours. Also try and do your labs when she is there. She won't do it for you but give you a lot of helpful pointers and explains what is happening and relate it to what you learned in lectures.
Hattie was a great professor. She is great in lecture and has all of her power points online to download, follow along and take note with in class. She will make you work for your grade and when you go to her office and ask questions she wont just give you the answer but help you learn the answer to your question. Such a great Professor.
Hatti is great! She cares about you learning the material. Read your textbook then go to class and listen to her lectures. She is really knowledgeable. Take notes in class. She only tests on the material she covers in class. If you want to learn, this is your professor! She seems to love it when people come see her for a better understanding.
Hattie can be real rude and harsh to talk to and is a hard grader. It is always good to ask questions if you felt like something was right and was graded wrong. Wished to have another professor while taking this class. Notes must be taken during every lecture in order to get any kind of decent grade.
I have yet to get higher than a high c on her tests and that's with reading the chapters, studying her powerpoints and her study guides for hours. You have to be able to retain her lectures. If you are a great auditory learner and can take notes on strictly listening you will do well. Otherwise the book and assignments will only help you so much.
I learned a TON about biology in Hattie's class. I have high academic goals and she helped me tap into the type of work ethic I need in order to reach them. Hattie did a great job of encouraging and supporting. Very approachable and kind. Wants you to succeed!! Would take again!!
So basically, Hattie is a real life Professor McGonagall. She is sharp, knows her stuff, demands (and gives) respect, and has little tolerance for wasting time and unnecessary questions (if it's in the syllabus, don't ask). These qualities allow her to command a classroom, give amazing lectures, and teach you a ton. Hattie is funny as heck too.
Hattie was simply awesome. There was a lot of work involved in this class, but she gave plenty of time to complete it. She was very helpful outside of class and in lab. I had questions about research, and Hattie went above and beyond to help me find a summer program. I highly recommend her classes, but come prepared to learn and work hard.
Long boring lectures, gives out more homework than anyone has time for, tests are incredibly hard. Dont take this course if you dont have at least a grasp on biology
Hattie is an amazing professor. She is very passionate about biology and it absolutely shows. She truly wants to share what she knows with everyone, so she is always willing to answer questions, see you outside of class, and help during labs. The tests were pretty difficult, but she is always willing to help you understand the material beforehand.
I took this course as an accelerated summer class so her normal class might not be as hard as the accelerated course. If you want an easy A this is not it. However, you will learn a lot in this class and for the most part she makes it interesting. She is strict about phones and technology so beware. Sometimes she can be condescending.
I have had Hattie for two different courses and she is just amazing. It seems at first like she is very intimidating and unwilling to help but youll find that she is incredibly easy to approach and always wanting to answer questions. Her tests are hard and she is not the type of instructor that will hand out As if that is what youre looking for.
Hattie is wonderful! She is available for questions and clarification almost all of the time. She is so nice, but won't sit and do nothing...A+
This course does require you to do the work and participate, but she does accept work late; this helped me because sometimes the workload would be overwhelming and I'd fall behind. There were assignments related to the readings, labs, discussions, and a few small group projects. I found the class manageable, and she made everything understandable.
Pros: Has great knowledge of what she teaches and willingly and happily shares it. Textbook material is made relevant to life (e.g how do energy drinks actually work). Homework provides good textbook summary. Cons: Perhaps a little more homework than is necessary. Slow grader. Heads-up: Your lab questions are graded on correctness.
Isn't helpful AT ALL. Millions of excuses to why assignments aren't graded and then has the audacity to take points off every little thing but you won't even know until the end of the semester. She's good when she's in person but online? NO THANKS.
The workload was okay, not overwhelming but not small. Lots of group discussion on Teams reading a book. She had a very hard time grading with my class. She didn't really grade most of everything till the last 3 weeks of the semester. She was quick to email and understood situations. Would take an in person class and give her a second chance.
I haven't even completed the course but I know registration opened so I want to put this here before you take her class. she does not grade assignment. there are labs for the beginning of the year that haven't been graded. I spent time on my work just for this to happen im going through the semester blind and I don't know what my grade will be
Her quiz questions on Achieve can get very confusing. She takes too long to grade something, which gives me stress and anxiety.
She grades the labs and other types of assignments late. Be ready to not have any kinds of feedback until the end of the semester.
Taking her as an accelerated 5-week summer and learning a lot from her class. I felt intimidated at first but then I realized that it's not as difficult as I thought. She opened up the modules early so you can work on assignments early and avoid late work. I took this class just to fulfill biological lab to the U but I then ended up learning a lot.
I took this class as a 5-week summer and the workload is not too bad but required time to study and complete the labs and assignments. There is no test or exam, so the workload is reasonable. She's a little tough with grading and grades assignment late, but you'll be fine if you put yourself to work.
I honestly wish this professor gets fired or disciplined because she doesn't grade everything, until right around the final semester, which gave me stress and anxiety.
Everything is due by 9:00 on FRIDAYSWHY. Doesn't make sense .Just make it due on Sunday.Way too much work even for an online class. I get the vibes that if you disagree with anything she has to say she's just gonna diss you and give you bad grades the rest of the semester. Bro it's only week 3 and I want to drop it. BUT I CAN'T AHHHHHAHAHAHA
She nitpicks every little thing on assignments. She only grades like a couple times per semester. I have a D in the class. A FREAKING D like goodness I did all the labs but obviously i'm not an expert why do you expect us to know everything plz I can't get a D. honestly don't recommend her. Homework heavy if you take online.
The labs are not graded until practically the last two weeks. I've spent more time on this class than my others, combined. The labs are graded entirely on correctness; it is hard to know what to fix when there is no feedback until basically of the labs are already done. The class is basically just busy work. I'm begging you to not sign up.
She literally grades everything last minute for reason. She makes the due date for everything at 9pm. I work on this class the most of all of my other classes out there. She thinks this a University classes. This class does not have a final exam, but there are many useless projects. If you don'e do it, you fail. She does not care. Very rude teacher
Hattie made this class incredibly difficult for no reason. She made things due on Friday at 9 PM but didn't start grading anything until over a month into the semester. The workload was unbearable and made worse because everything was due so early. If you have a class with her, know you likely won't succeed in your other classes.
I took BIOL1100 online and went to campus for a lab approx. every month. She's very nice and helpful. Homework heavy course, some assignments take long and are tedious but easy. Labs were easy & straightforward; not a harsh grader at all. She took time to explain when needing help and created a pretty relaxed space to work in. Patient and pleasant.
Had a horrible experience and was rude to some of the students. The homework and labs were often useless and unnecessary. Basically taught the material myself. Spent an excessive amount of time on the course compared to my other STEM courses.
Hattie grades everything to the very last minute, it is the end of the semester and she has still not graded half of the labs. She is a very tough grader as the labs are just based on correctness. How is a student supposed to learn from the feedback when everything is already submitted? You are doomed from the start. Do not sign up.
She grades everything literally last min. She makes you submit everything by 9pm CT on Friday. The labs are crazy long. She nitpicks every single assignment you turn in. I talked to her in office hour, and she is honestly very rude. She uses turnitin, so be aware. Overall, don't take this professor. Save yourself from unnecessary stress.
Took as 5-week asynch online summer course. 3 textbook chapters (with 3 quizzes for each), 3 labs, and 3 miscellaneous assignments per week. Hattie didn't create video lectures; she insisted on reading the textbook. Workload was intense, but not difficult. Hattie was a slow grader, but didn't grade harshly. With effort, the class is an easy A.
Hattie cares about the subject and the students she teaches and is always available if you have questions or need help, that being said she is a very late grader and this is a very homework heavy class with three textbook quizzes, a lab and a discussion and reflection on another science book, that being said the trade off is there is no tests
I really liked this professor. She Did a lot of experimental things with group work and class participation that didn't always work, but this was her first semester back in Environmental Bio since covid. The homework was eeeeeasy if you read the text, the exams were a bit harder. Usually emails back quickly.
Helpful professor, I learned a decent bunch. I had to take it as PSEO and I think workload was managable.
This class seems like it's made specifically for you to fail. I've wasted more time on this class than I have in any other class in college. There's too much homework and it's near impossible to get 100% on any quiz or assingment. Don't take this class it's not worth your time. Homework heavy, labs are far too long, and everything is nitpicked...
Very difficult with flexibility/understanding, lots of homework was assigned, 1-2 labs practically each week. It was a difficult class with an even more difficult professor, would never recommend to anyone whatsoever.
This is my honest review as a student who took the survey of biology class. I would never recommend this class anybody. She has a lot of requirements and ask you be flexible with her but she grades everything last minute. She is a horrible teacher and should not be teaching students. Every second of her class was stressful. Just don't do it.
Tons of work, 1 lab plus an essay, discussion, etc. each week at least. Plus she doesn't grade anything until the last minute, it's the last day before grades are due and I still do not know my final grade even though I turned in everything on time. Interesting enough and could be worse, she seems to care about biology, but be warned for workload!
Has everything due by 9pm on Saturdays for no reason since she grades everything at the end of semester.. she's a harsh and lazy grader- also expect the first few weeks to be the hardest out of all the HW. she does NOT care about her students, and is thoughtless to people's situations. there are no tests in the class only labs and projects.
Gives very vague instruction in lab. Expects you to know things.Wouldn't recommend her. As the class gets longer the more irritated and impatient she gets. She makes you feel dumb, when you asks a question. I have anxiety and it goes haywire around her. Nervous to approach her don't know which mood she'll be in.
She's just moody for no reason and is difficult to talk to in or outside of class. If you take this teacher I wish you luck!
-Knows her science well & loves it -Grades harsh, class avg for exams were in the 60's -Takes 20% off late paper assignments, labs, exams no matter what -Attendance mandatory -Grades slowly but expects all assignments to never be late with no flexibility -Took this class as a pseo student, im average at science, it was difficult but not impossible
Honest review from a student who struggles with science. This class depends heavily on the textbook, so if you don't read it, you'll fail. Lectures are okay, but she talks at you. In lab, she gives vague instructions and makes you feel dumb for asking follow-up questions. Fast email responses. Fairly understanding, but overall, never again.
As a person who always gets A's, I managed to get a B but it was very difficult. There is a lot of work and by the last month of the semester I started getting behind and those late assignment point deductions can really add up. ADVICE: there were two "secret" ways to get extra credit, one was in the syllabus and one was in an announcment in D2L.
This teacher is someone you would want if you like feeling unsure/uneasy. You just don't know what side of her you will encounter each time. Her tone could use some improvement and also her condescending remarks should end. Overall when she's nice it can be cool but doesn't last long. Overall reading is ur best bet. Take ALL notes you will need it.
nothin else that the other students should know
Hattie's class is quite challenging with a heavy workload, but unstuck study can be a helpful tool for managing the coursework. The lectures and labs are engaging, but the late grading and nitpicky feedback can be frustrating.
Professor is not great at teaching algorithm, have to teach it yourself. People ask questions and she makes you feel really dumb, so someone with anxiety I am terrified to ask her anything. Doesn't have to answer to many questions, always responds saying “I don't have the answer to that” very stressful class. Only three weeks in.
I am an A+ student and I made it 2 weeks before I had to withdraw from this class. In one week, she expects you to read a chapter of the textbook & a chapter of a different science book, do a HW assignment, take 2 quizzes, do a lab, and (depending on the week) either do a discussion or write a 3 page paper on the previous week's discussion.
I talked to multiple people who are science majors in college and they said there is nowhere near this much work in a non PSEO college class. Withdrew from the class 3 weeks in due to the workload. I have taken 6 PSEO classes and have never had near this much work expected of me in just 1 week. Will take this in person in college instead.
Oof. This professor treats her classes as if they are at a prestigious university full of students with no life behind school. As a full time working adult, you will fail her course.
The lecture class, the professor only talk about the presentation and PPT is on the D2L Is too heavy for self study for prepare the exam for this course The experimental lab took too long, a total of 2 hours and 50 minutes, which was a waste of time Blind box exam The professor does not post lab grades on time
Hattie Dambroski is one of the worst professors I've ever had. She was rude and would make you feel dumb when you asked her questions. I was constantly confused in this class, and the workload is a LOT. I took this class in my first year as PSEO student and had a negative first experience. She doesn't teach well either. DON'T take her class.
STAY AWAY. I'm usually a solid A/B student, but I'll be happy just passing this class. Tests are brutal (class averages around 60%), and asking questions feels like setting yourself up for embarrassment. I rely on classmates and GPT because speaking up in class = pure regret. If you have to take this class, prayers up. You should AVOID if possible.
She barely answers questions, often saying something vague or rereading the question to you. The workload for this class is extensive. Each exam is a lot to memorize, often taking me five or more hours of studying. If you are taking multiple classes, I do not recommend taking this class. She's a harsh grader.
This professor knows her biology, but her attitude makes the class really difficult to enjoy. She grades lab reports very late, sometimes not until the end of the semester (like what are you doing all semester) She is often passive-aggressive both to students and her TA it doesn't feel like she's trying to help more like she wants to prove a point
I took this class online so experiences online can be tough but I would say this was my top hardest for my semester because of the workload. There is a good amount of things to get done during each week but it was all very straight forward to me. The only issue was the fact that practically all my assignments did not get graded until the last day.
Deadlines are inconsistent. Our class was consistently behind in lecture, but was still made to do labs/tests acting like we understood what wasn't taught. Says the tests are "easy" but expects at LEAST 15-20 hours of studying in an INTRO class like students don't have other necessities. Hattie is a nice woman who cares about the subject, otherwise
