Haven Abedin is a totally awesome professor. She is very friendly and doesn't bog you down with too much work. You'll have to write some papers (duh), but if you do your work, you're basically guarenteed a good grade. And, as a plus, she's not hard on the eyes.

Great when it comes to grading your essays. You must want to get a good grade, show up for class, utilize the peer reviews. She is very helpful when she grades the essays. There were 3-4 total essays. Syllabus is clear on expectations.

Ms. Abedin made the class activities that I usually hate (class discussion + group PowerPoint presentations) surprisingly pleasant. She is very personable, intelligent, and knows her subject well. The class wasn't terribly challenging. Wish we read more instead of watching movies all the time. Overall, she's a pretty good teacher.

The grade is based on ad analysis essay, film review essay, scholarship essay, and one in-class essay along with 10 short response type of assignments. She lists all the things that students need to have on the essays. Must start early to work on the assignments in order to keep up. Good luck (=

I love her!!! She is great and encouraging even when you express views different than her own. If you take her, you won't regret it unless you are lazy in the class. It was an easy A for me, but two people I sat with didn't pass because they were lazy and didn't do the homework. Keep up and pay attention! She gives you everything you need to pass.

Haven really helped my writing. I was in one of her hybrid classes and for a paper in her class she would usually give 3 weeks to complete it with rough drafts in between. What I recommended is to make sure and do the rough drafts she can really help you if you do that. She's also got this cool hipster thing going on and she's kinda hilarious.

Haven Abedin is the best teacher I have ever had. Before each project she clearly explained what we would be doing and had multiple examples to show what she wanted, what she didn't want, etc. Before every major paper she went over our drafts with us to make sure we were on the right track and understood everything. I would recommend this teacher!

You will have around a month to develop each essay. You will turn in week by week "revised" versions till the last deadline. Haven is really funny and understanding. Will help if you ask for it, and also has class conferences to help develop paper. She grades hard, so take the essays seriously, and do not procrastinate. 4 essays are your grade.

She is helpful but she has a category in her mind, and you need to work by that, if you want to go your way, she don't believe any new thing or innovation. She also can't understand the second language people, because this is very hard for them to do a professional work like the mother tong language

I'm glad I took this class during the summer. I didn't think one paper a week was too fast at all. Participation is important during class discussions. Overall, great teacher!

Hello, if anyone is reading this. Well I can honestly say that Ms. Abedin is my favorite English teacher ever and I'm not exaggerating. She's also my favorite Professor at Brookhaven College. It's just something about her that makes you feel like the class is so much easier and not difficult. If anyone is taking English in the near future take her.

I took Prof. Abedin's class Fall of 2016. Your grado is only 4 major papers but you have a month to write it. I got an A+

You always get the sense that Professor Abedin really cares about her students. She teaches you a lot about the different forms of writing without making the class difficult

She really takes her time to sit down with you and go over whatever you to need to go over on your essays. I really wanted to take her again for my Eng 1302 but she wasn't teaching it in the Spring, unfortunately ,

I took Abedin's 1301 and I enjoyed it so much. She cares about her student and does one-on-one workshops to help you complete your essay. She does not do extra credit but she does do daily grade exercises so you want to be in class for those. Don't try to make up excuses in her class because she will see right through them. I would take her again.

I can confidently say Professor Abedin really sharpened by writing skills. She's warm in a no-nonsense way. Very quickly responds to emails and always gives specific feedback on essays. Takes the time to bring in multimedia so the class is actually interesting. Wish she taught other English classes because i would take her again in a heartbeat.

Mrs. Haven has been such a great professor. I tend to overthink things when writing essays and anytime im unsure of something I know I can always reach out and ask her for advice. From someone who struggles with correct grammar read the textbook!!! It helps a lot more than you think.

I'm not even done with finals yet and this is the easiest class I've ever taken. We had an essay due at the end of the week and I unexpectedly had to take to bf to the hospital and was moving in the same week and asked her for an extension and she said yes when no one else did. Professor Haven let me focus on learning and had great communication!

The Professor is very compassionate be sure to do the best work. She maybe a tough grader only because she wants you to grow as a writer & recognizes mistakes are natural for improvement. She gives a handful of extra credit take advantage of it & if you do not understand something just ask she responds back quickly. Overall I enjoyed her class.

Professor Haven was the greatest. I took Engl as a summer class, so pretty fast paced but she sends daily emails to keep you on track. Always willing to help out, great at giving ideas for essays. I was worried that there would be a ton of textbook reading but nope. Would definitely recommend and would definitely take her again.

I took Professor Haven's ENGL1301 class during the summer term. The class was pretty easy and she was really nice. We wrote three papers (about 2-3 pages each). For each, there was a discussion board where you posted your ideas and she gave feedback. Overall it wasn't a whole lot of a work and some of the papers were actually pretty fun.

I absolutely enjoyed this class and I am sad I couldn't sign up to take Comp 2 with her, online student. There were three papers and discussion posts where you would start a rough idea on your topic. Also there was composition structures modules that were impossible to fail, answer more questions you get a better grade. Always positive feedback.

I have taken Abedin for Engl 1301 & 1302. She is a wonderful professor! I think she is the best professor I have had so far. Her class was very easy and the assignments were manageable w/ a full-time job. She is a VERY caring professor and offers extra credit. I would completely disregard the previous review. I wish I could say more good things about Professor Abedin. She is cordial, calm, and will do everything she can to help with staying in touch. Most of the grading is for essays, but I highly recommend her for improving writing skills with as little anxiety and stress as possible. Excellent professor!

She is super nice, kind, and polite. If you get writers block she will help you get some ideas and give great feedback on anything you already have. She is super empathetic so she understands if you have any conflicts going on, and she will work with you on the deadline. Can't say enough nice things about her.

10/10 Recommend taking Professor Abedin's class! She is very clear on her instructions, gives great feedback, is very caring and grades quickly! She is very encouraging when it comes to reaching out to her, something not many professors do to be honest. I wish she taught other subjects, I would sign up for her classes in a heartbeat!

She might honestly be professor in Dallas College. She would always send positive feedback. Only 2 assignments a week which was note taking and a essay (Took a 4 week semester). Very easy grader never got anything under a A. Seems like she actually cares for student even though its virtual. I might even take her ENGL 2 class for Fall.

she is very good when giving an example and clarity when it comes to assignments. She allows you to write your papers in your own interpretation which allows students to really think about what they read and their understanding. and gives you great feed back on what to correct and the extra credit helps too

Absolutely love this professor. Couldnt recommend her more. You only have one research paper that is due as the final, and all the other assignments in the class get you ready for it. Professor Abedin is great! She shows lots of empathy towards students, and gives very direct and clear instructions. We were given more than enough time to work on our writing assignments including the last paper, which counts for an important grade. Simply try your best to follow her instructions and you should do just fine!

I have trauma from previous english teachers and their harsh standards that make no sense whatsoever, but Professor Abedin was the complete opposite. I just finished my ENGL-1301 class with her; it has to be my favorite DC class ever. She was so kind and understanding of my late work and an easy grader! Theres only 3 engaging essays and some notes.

Best English Professor I've had, she gives us the work well in advance and gives us help every step of the way. If you use AI, don't show up to class, or think you have to do nothing then you WILL fail. She even helps you find sources, format sources, and encourages you. I would have loved having her for 2 years vice one.

Her course is designed in a way that anyone can succeed if they put enough time into doing the assignments. There are weekly assignments and one final essay. Easy A ! Professor Haven is one of my favorite professors that I've ever had! She gives easy assignments, gives good feedback, and genuinely seems to like her job. Professor Abedin is an excellent English 1301 instructor. She teaches writing in a way that feels natural and intentional. Early assignments may seem simple, but they build skills needed later. Nothing is busywork. Her feedback is clear and constructive, and if you put in the effort, you will leave the class a stronger, more confident writer.

Professor Abedin exstinguished my fear of learning MLA. The way her curriculum is set up is so user-friendly and gradually teaches MLA the proper way. Her class is responsible for building my confidence in MLA writing. Her grading scale is great and she's very accessible. I suggest choosing her early, clearly, her class fills up quick.
