What other prof.s whant to be when they grow up. biting wit, funny and entertaining, taught a tremendous amount of fascinating information. 2 exams and a paper. He was by far one of the best I have ever had. might just minor in comunications bc of him.
Tons of material, but broken down very easily. Interesting lectures...great overall personality.
This guy is so cool. He makes class really entertaining, and he really knows what he's talking about.

Awesome teacher! Great class!
HE IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT WSU. YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ TO PASS THE TEST, JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU GO TO EVERY CLASS BECAUSE THEY COME FROM LECTURE NOTES. HE MAKES THE CLASS VERY INTERESTING AND HE IS VERY SMART.
Very interesting class, very engaging teacher; pretty fun class over-all
This guy was terrific. Very knowledgeable and pretty good looking too. He uses a lot of humor in his lectures which make it easy to stay involved. Highly recommended
Oshagan is awesome! Takes the edge of the material with quality humor. Don't waste money on buying the course pack- all the exam info comes from his in class lecture notes. You only have to take 1 test and a final, but go to all the classes, because you'll need the notes for the final.
He's great!! He's also very funny! Don't buy the course-packs b/c you don't need'em. Just pay attention to his lectures, take good notes & you'll do fine. All his tests are essays.
His lectures are really interesting. You learn a lot. I would recommend his class to anyone. He is also really nice to look at.
excellent lecture skills. Even though english is his second language, his grammar and verbal skills are great. you dont need the course packs, but dont miss a class...you shouldnt want to miss anyway because hes very intriguing, i've learned so much from this class...i highly reccomend this professor and only this one for the class.
Oshagan has the cutest accent ever, he is funny without trying to be. He is a good teacher and is fair. He is good about asking if there are any questions. His tests are all essay but he drops 1 of the 2 worst grades. He helps make the class interesting but all he does all class is lecture, and sometimes it gets tedious.,but id take him again.
Attend all of his lectures, pay attention, and you will do well. He has a good way of explaining everything he teaches. He was only there for half of the semester, though. John Arnold was a top replacement.
He is the hottest man on campus. His class was interesting although if you miss even 1 lecture you will falll far behind. His test are based on notes. DOnt by course pack.
Great professor! Interesting class! You will pass if you put forth effort and will get an A if you attend all the classes and take great notes! I wish he taught a follow-up course because I would glady take! Did I mention he's an awesome professor!
his accent is so cute and the way he says some things are so funny....i wish i had more teachers like this... class seams more interesting becuase he is so cute...
I really enjoy this class. He keeps you engaged while sticking to the topic at hand and not going off on a tangent. This class will be a breeze if you come to class and take notes on the lectures!
The man looks like he belongs in a Humphrey Bogart film. He is a very charismatic instructor and very passionate about the subject. He also has a very hot teaching assistant...not say that has anything to do with the class :)
Take this class! It was very easy and very tolerable. He is a good teacher, and really funny too. You'll actually find yourself laughing out loud in a lecture with 100 other students. No homework + only three easy tests + good lectures = no good reason not to take this class. (Don't buy the course pack; everything is based on his lectures.)
DO NOT buy course pack. You don't use it & they don't buy it back. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't go and take good notes you will fail the exams. That is all the exams are based on, so if you understand the lectures this class is an easy A. There is also a term paper due, but it isn't too hard. I actually learned something. WOW!
Though this class was more or less a useless requirement, I will say that Professor Oshagan is probably the best lecturer at Wayne State University. I knew all of the material beforehand, but he still managed to be interesting, enlightening, and entertaining.
Keeps it real.
He's a good guy. Sometimes he's even funny. I recommend him for 1500. I got a 4.0 and all I did was what he asked. Here are simple do's and dont's for a 4.0 in his class. DO's: 1.Attend all lectures 2. Take good notes (exams are based %100 on lecture) 3. Do the extra credit. Here are the DONTS: 1. Don't buy the coursepack 2. Don't skip class.
I thought this man so super adorable, half the time i wasn't even listening to what he was saying cause i was to busy thinking about what a cutie pie he is. It's not that he's gorgeous but he is so attractive, lol. Oh maybe i should say something about the class, it was easy, take it.
I have to agree with everyone else Dr. Oshagan is deliciously adorable, and he is one SMART cookie. Profound knowledge of media studies and he will try to make sure you understand, just ask. I would recommend that anyone take his class. Don't skip and take good notes!
Really fun class. Although attendance is not taken, it is extremely unwise to skip. Tests are based entirely on lecture, don't bother purchasing the coursepack (it's completely unnecessary). First half of the class isn't the most exciting, but once you get to theory stuff it's outstanding. Easy + informative = Awesome.
He's Great!
Show up to class. take notes. do paper. get A in class.
Class subject is boring, teacher is great and hot. He makes the subject very intersting and he is very entertaining.
Prof. Oshagan is a great teacher. He's intelligent, funny, and very charismatic. I wish his class was more than one semester!
Most straight forward easy going teacher ever!!! his lectures were amazing, not boring! he grades on a curve if you ask nicely and show effort, i don't even write very well and he still gave me an A for my paper. Awesome teacher!
Oshagan is the smartest man I've ever met. He's very funny, not boring. Make sure you attend each class. The tests deal almost exclusively with his lectures. There are two tests, of which only the highest score counts, a 6-7 page research paper, and a final. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. It's available as an e-book for $15, but it's just not necessary.
Professor Oshagan makes class very interesting. He also adds humor into his lectures which makes them more fun. You do learn a lot. Just make sure you dont miss class and take really good notes. His tests are based on his notes.
This class was very interesting and informative. Professor Oshagan likes to crack jokes and makes clear the main points of each lecture that you should remember. Tests are based on main points from the lectures so this class requires taking a plethora of good notes.
Best teacher I've had in my entire schooling career. Go out of your way to take this Professor. He is INCREDIBLE!!! Best I've ever had.
BEST TEACHER EVER! His lectures are very interasting.. you need to take notes because the tests are based on them. he has a great sence of humor. easy class if you attened.
The class is really enjoyable. LOVE the professor. The exams and paper are straight forward and not difficult. Just don't buy the course pack, it's not necessary.
ONE WORD: AMAZING!!!!
Excellent instructor, very knowledgeable. His lectures are great.
He is hott first of all. Don't need the textbook or even to purchase the online version he suggests. He is very knowledgeable and smart. He is straight to the point and the lectures are all the tests are based on. Loved him and the class!
This guy was amazing. Go out of your way to take a class with him. He knows his stuff, and knows how to communicate it effectively. A very charismatic and skilled lecturer. I can't sing his praises enough. I would love to take another class with him in the future.
Even though this old coot is a hot hot hottie, you better go out of your way to schedule this guy's class. Mmmmm (like Mr. Herbert on Family Guy...)
He was born to be a teacher. Doesn't stand behind a desk and read off slides, but actually walks around and interacts with the class. Explains topics in a real life matter and makes everything interesting. GO SIGN UP FOR HIS CLASS RIGHT NOW!!
REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS RIGHT NOW! Not only is Dr. Osh fine with that gray hair and tailored suit, he is the best lecturer ever. He discusses real-life things and provides examples from his own life, very interactive. I got an 100 without buying or reading the book!
As long as u take notes and attend class you'll do fine. iSight even bother buying the bookie reading the online articles and still got an A. The prof is very engages so class doesn't drag on and on.
Great Professor! Take this class! He has a way of engaging the class on any topic!
Attendance is MANDATORY, he doesn't teach from the textbook or post his lecture notes online. Tests are straight from the lecture notes. Lectures are well organized. If you skip class you will not do well. Students should have him review your final paper before you turn it in, as it counts for so much of the grade.
I absolutely love this man!! An asset to Wayne and a perfect example of how ALL professors should be!!
Dr. Oshagan gives you so many opportunities to succeed in this class. You don't need a textbook--just show up and take notes and you'll be just fine. There is NO NEED for the textbook, so please do not waste your money!
This professor said he can say whatever he wants because he has Tenure. Our graduate class scheduled for three hours went one hour at the most. and we were instructed to check the APA manual for future instruction.Prof is great, if you just want to wiz by and not learn anything. If you are looking to get your money's worth this is not the professor
If you pass the first exam you dont have to take the second one! I wish I would have known that before hand. He seems like a good instructor, but I have no interest in the subject and couldn't follow the course very well. I attended all lectures and studied a lot but I still. If you are going into communications take him if not id find someone else
Take good, detailed notes and actually study for the exams and you are golden. Very interesting class and Dr. O is hilarious. The lowest of your 2 exam scores are dropped. He gives a lot of helpful examples and encourages participation. His T.A., Sherri, is helpful too! Dr. O has a lot of experience in comm and is credible.
Dr. Oshagan is great! He's super knowledgeable and informative. His lectures are never dull and he keeps his students engaged. Attendance is mandatory since the tests are all based off of his lectures. As long as you attend the classes and study your notes, you should do well.
GREAT PROFESSOR
Honestly, not a fan. I am still in the class and his exams are 5 questions (worded poorly) and all essay. 6 page paper and one final exam. He does drop lowest test grade for first two exams but he is a hard grader. Listen, take notes, and pray to understand. He gets off topic a lot in my eyes. I don't like it. Good Luck
Took his mass communication class. AWESOME! His lectures are fairly interesting. He usually didn't keep us the whole time and if you take notes, and review them before tests you should get at least a B no problem. Definately recomend this class. I would love to have this professor again.
Too much ego.Thinks he is funny
AWESOME prof!!! He is hilarious and makes the information in the class really relevant. He is also very friendly and helpful, and had a nice TA who was helpful as well. Take this class!
He was very knowledgable and clear in his teaching style. Made the content interesting and relatable. This class was very writing intensive, including the essay-format exams. Awesome professor and class!
SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR! He's so funny, his lectures are always very interesting, uses power points to help with note taking, very easy class if you show up and take notes. Loved his class!
Good teacher. Knows what he's talking about. Pretty easy A if you're good at writing. Exams are all short answer, but he drops one and offers you a full grade upgrade if you do all the extra credit.
Such a great professor. Show up to class, take notes, and you'll pass. He makes lectures interesting and encourages the class to participate. You'll learn a lot of cool facts. Tests are short answer, but not bad if you study off of your notes. Only 3 grades in the glass, 1 test is dropped. Gives out plenty of extra credit. You'll love this class.
Your grade is based on two tests and a paper. I loved his lectures he was very interesting. Sometimes hard to get a hold of. We had a TA this semester so that was helpful, if he wasn't there I don't know how you would get ahold of the teacher. Tests are 5 essay formed tests. Take good notes you will be fine. Paper was easy, don't wait till last min
Prof O was very interesting. This class is based off notes, notes are NOT posted online. 3 tests (drops lowest test grade) and 1 paper. Everything on tests & paper is based off notes taken in class. Thankful for the TA, bc the prof never answers emails. Overall just show up, take notes.
This class is ALL lecture, but he's a really good speaker and very dynamic. There's only 3 grades for the class because he drops one of the three tests and there's an essay that's pretty easy. But besides that it's a really cool class, just make sure you go!
Lectures are cool but his note writing is all over the place. I say study and you will be fine. He is negative and doesn't respond to well with peoples opinions and questions. He is not available via email and limited via office. He seems to be all about him. And "even if you get an a on the first exam you can still fail"-him. study your notes
He is unclear about assignments and does not post on bb or respond to emails. Updates grades only once per semester. Talks abut himself a lot and give nevative feedback only. His grading is easy. Don't miss class.
Don't just write down what the professor does, he only writes down key words so pay attention! Read your notes to study and you'll do fine on exams. Several extra credit options, if you do them all you get your grade bumped up to the next highest grade (A- to A). Do what he asks of you for the paper and you'll get at least a B. He doesn't use Bb
Easy A, interesting class. Grade is based on 3 things; 1 of two quizzes (he'll drop the lowest one), an essay and the final. You can't expect to just show up during exams, though. He doesn't take attendance but he doesn't give out study guides, either. And i'm not exactly sure how passing this class without your notes could work. Overall, 10/10.
I took him for Mass Com and the course materials were very interesting. He never takes attendance, but I wish I would have gone to class more. It seemed that if you attended class regularly and paid attention you would get an A. He also offered a few extra credit assignments that were very easy. Study for the exams.
HE IS NOT BAD.
Oshagan is a great lecturer, so get ready for some really interesting lectures in class. I loved to listen to his classes and learned a lot.
Hayg was a great professor that made every lecture interesting. 3 exams, lowest score dropped, and 1 research paper. Exams are 6 essay questions and each question comes from a major lecture so as long as you take some good notes, you should be able to get an A. Lectures aren't posted, so make sure to have decent attendence!
Dr. Oshagan is amazing! Attendance is not required but the exams are based strictly off of the lectures so it is in students best interest to attend.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PROFESSOR. VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT HE TEACHES AND DOES IT VERY WELL. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY, BECAUSE THE EXAMS AND PAPER ARE BASED ON THE LECTURES, BUT THIS ISN'T A CLASS YOU EVER WANT TO MISS. HE'S VERY HELPFUL IN PERSON, BUT DIFFICULT TO CONTACT OVER EMAIL.
I don't like public speaking and I'm not very good at it either so this class was stressful. Professor Oshagan always provided you with critiques after each speech so you can improve. He is extremely hard to reach through emails. His instructions and deadlines are very unclear, overall just a very unorganized class. Surprisingly graded pretty easily
He is a very professional person with tons of experiences (he flies out of the country almost weekly for speeches). He is very kind and funny and gives you truly good feedback, and genuinely tries to make you a better speaker. Does make you a touch nervous because he himself is so professional, but he makes it a very enjoyable class.
Took Honors portion of COM1010. Class was a hybrid, so we met once a week. Dr. Oshagan was clear in his grading expectations, but could sometimes be too critical in his feedback to students, especially since he gave feedback in front of the whole class. Made me a better public speaker and was easy to talk to, in and out of class.
There are 3 test, 1 paper, lowest of the first 2 is dropped and that is your grade. Enjoyable class, but you must know theories and how to use them and explain it to pass the test. There is no book, all questions are from notes in class. Study hard and make sure you know how to work the theory. Good luck, this is one tough class.
Hayg lectures were informative. He missed class quite a bit so his SI who has a thick accent had to lecture and made the content hard to understand. He wasn't available outside class. Grading criteria was not very clear and his writing was hard to understand.
Examples are easy to understand. He explains things in an interesting way that keeps my focus. Fair grader, and will tell you what information is going to be on the exam. He can get a bit sassy sometimes but it's hilarious. Tests are lecture based so GO TO CLASS!
Amazing professor. Make sure you go to class because the tests are based on lectures. There is extra credit that is very helpful. If you go to class and pay attention its and easy A.
I would HIGHLY recommend recording his lectures because all the exams are based off them and you don't want to miss anything. He's clearer about what will be on the exam sometimes more than others. He's genuinely one of those professors that will give you an "oh wow" moment EVERY class meeting. So smart and caring. No doubt would take again.
He is a great and professional public speaker, giving big speeches on a near-weekly basis. As a result, he knows what he is talking about. He doesn't expect perfection, but expects improvements to be made, so he will give feedback right after a speech in front of everyone. Take his words into account for your next speech.
Professor Oshagan is very smart and funny. He does not take attendance but if you do not attend class you will fail. All tests are from lectures, only two tests and one final. Lowest test score is dropped. There is one paper and three extra credit assignments. I never knew my grade in the class so make sure you ask. Ask questions and pay attention.
He knows his stuff and is really good at lecturing. Be prepared for Mass Communincations to take good notes because the exams are exactly from the notes. There are no study guides but he grades fair. He wont fail you if you try!
There are two exams, one literature review paper, and three extra credit assignments. I could have easily obtained an A if I wasn't lazy so don't be that guy. Pay attention to his lectures instead of only writing down notes for what he says in class. First exam is easy, second and last are tougher. Lowest score dropped except final exam score.
Technically attendance is not mandatory, but you must show up if you want a good grade because his exams are based off the notes. His notes can be hard to follow sometimes which is why it is important to listen to him lecture yourself rather than getting notes from a peer. His lectures are interesting and one exam is dropped so can't complain.
Professor Oshagan is very respected! His lectures are intuitive and make you want to learn. He helped a lot when/if it was needed. I recommend taking one of his courses.
Come to class a decent amount of the time and youll get an A! The lectures are fun and easy to understand. Your grade is made up of one of Midterm, a final, and a paper. He has expressed that the paper is meant to boost and help your grade. Super knowledgeable in the field of communications!! Awesome prof overall! No book required. No homework.
Very good lectures, he makes the material interesting to learn. Show up and take good notes and youll pass the exams. No textbook needed.
Professor Oshagan was a great professor. Textbook is supplementary. The only work you really have to do is show up to class and take notes. The only grades you have are 2 exams (the highest score is what he'll put as your final grade) and an essay. As long as you come to class and take notes it's an easy A!
He is highly respected and does speeches almost every week. Had him for the Honors portion, which involves doing speeches on social justice, and he does a great job explaining how the speeches should be done and what should be improved upon. The only downside is he takes a long time to put in grades. Great professor for a communications class.
He is very credible as a professor and probably the best person to learn from just because of his extensive experience with public speaking. His feedback is very helpful although its put in a very blunt manner lol. He isn't a tough grader at all and recognizes improvement. I definitely suggest taking his honors section. Very solid professor.
He is a very nice professor and obviously people enjoyed his class, although you are only graded on 2, 5 question exams (lowest score is dropped so technically you take 3) and one essay. For me, this class structure was difficult there is hardly an opportunity to raise your grade if you do not do well on the two tests.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Honestly run the other direction. Very rude and un accommodating in his online comm class. I had many technical issues that I couldnt control and he did not care and made it difficult for me to present my speeches because of this. Do not take his class.
This professor was not accommodating at all when we enter online and berated students in class after their speeches. Unfair grader and unnecessarily harsh and complicated. Avoid if you can.
Great course! Professor Oshagans lectures were very helpful for the 2 essays and 2 exams. The final was optional. Definitely recommend this course. Make sure you show up and take good notes, he doesnt use Canvas.
Dr. Oshagan is a nice, easy to get along w/, funny guy. However, he is often vague in his directions and does not always clarify what is due, when, and sometimes forgets to assign things. I got an A- in the course because he gave me (and the whole class) 0/10 on an assignment he never assigned. When I emailed him about it, he never got back to me.
First off: Hayg has an accent but you TOTALLY get use to it. He is so nice and asks the class if they did anything fun over the weekend etc. Gives me good vibes. He does not take attendance BUT his class is lecture based. So listen and take notes, 3 exams, no homework, just a paper. This class was the best take it he makes it interesting!
I found Professor Oshagan rather rude sometimes, but he was a fairly nice guy. It was VERY confusing to know which assignments were due when and when speeches were scheduled as he didn't communicate through email and NEVER responded to emails outside of class. However, he gave great feedback on our speeches and I definitely improved thanks to him.
The class I took was hybrid, but he offered very little communication about the online portions of the class. The online portions were through an online textbook section, but it wasn't very well integrated into the course. He doesn't really talk about deadlines or upcoming assignments. The syllabus and pacing schedule are really important.
Professor Oshagan is extremely knowledgeable in the communication field and gives many current examples in lectures. The only downside of this class is your grade is based off of two exams and a paper. He allows you to drop a third lowest exam score. He always asks students to share their weekend plans or anything going on around campus. Very nice
Professor Oshagan is an amazing teacher, and is really knowledgable. Each speech has a clear outline, he gives very good feedback, and you will 100% improve your speeches with him as a professor. Only downside is if you're sick, you have to get a doctors note. He's very strict on attendance, and doesn't respond to emails that well.
Overall, he had good knowledge of speeches, but I would not recommend him. He made us stand up in front of the class while he criticized us and our speech. His syllabus was also not accurate. He would ask us for things that both the syllabus and the assignments in canvas said were not due for a week. Very unorganized!
Go to every lecture!!! He makes the lectures very interesting and keeps you engaged in the conversation. There was no homework or quizzes, but the final grade was based on two exams and a research paper. I really liked learning from him because he was so passionate about what he was teaching!
Professor Oshagan has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class can be worthwhile. Attend lectures, read the free textbook, and use tools like Unstuck AI for study prep. Grading can be inconsistent, so stay on top of deadlines.
You got to go to lectures if you want to pass. Gives you all the information you need to know to pass exams. Can reach out and ask questions, good help.
Extremely clear, knowledgeable, and confident in what he teaches. Very few grades besides 3 exams and a final paper but otherwise he preps you to ace all of them. Super respectable and smart man.
Very chill dude, mostly lectures
