He is a great teacher though. He outlines everything you need to know in your notes for you. There is no guessing on what he expects from his class. He is not the easiest teacher, but if you apply yourself you can not fail his class.

He's a good teacher. I found him easy to understand when he lectures. You'll probably need to get additional help outside of class for questions about the homework, but he does try to make himself available. If you do all of the homework and get your questions answered, the tests aren't that hard.

Professor Washington made me understand math like no other. He gave plenty of notes so you could refer them later for studies. He also made sure that if there was a question, the person understood his answer. If not, he used another example. He is an excellent teacher.

Had him for Int. Algebra. He has his own way of teaching, but follow the notes and do your homework and you will get a good grade. I liked him very much.He will work with you after class and he has a wonderful sense of humor. He liked to pick on me, but in a fun way, not in a bad way.

Too all you clowns who rated him bad, you must be lazy. If you do all your homework and study you will do fine. As for those who complained about not going by the syllabus for the term they had him, we were out for Hurricanes. It is hard to go by a syllabus when the campus is closed.I studied and got an "A". Prof washington is wonderful. He is very helpful and will even stay after class to patiently answer questions. I had his 8 week summer coarse. The pace was perfect not too fast or slow. He is rockin' when it comes to teaching, very good at his craft.

If you do all your homework and study you will do fine. He deviate from the syllabus from time to time. If you do your homework the way he ask you to do it, you can get an a decent grade. The key is to go to his office and ask questions, do it.

It is true that he is habitually late, and it takes him forever to grade tests. But he also has some very good qualities. He is more patient and understanding with students than any other professor I know of, and I have seen too many dishonest and disrespectul students take advantage of him.

After more than two years from being in his class, I am still using what I have learned in the course of study I have chosen: Respiratory therapy. This is probably the toughest class I have ever taken. The test are not easy in the slightest bit either. He is a great instructor and is even willing to stay after class to help you. If you want a challenge then he is the guy to take.

This is a tough class. He is a tough teacher and his test are tough as well. If you study hard, you can make it through. I managed to pull a B in the class. Be ready for a challenge if you are taking him. He will not cut you much slack if any at all.

I took Mr. Washington in the summer and I loved his class. So I took him again in the fall. I am not sure what happened but he stoped teaching the class the last month, he pretty much made us teach oursleves and some of us have a gard time with math to start with. So this just made it extra hard. I really hope that he starts to teach again.

I took Prof Washington for College Algebra and I HATE MATH and it hates me. I tried hard and prof helped me at every turn. He was very attentive and goes the extra mile to help you succeed I just never quite picked it up so I withdrew for a remedial class no reflection on the professor he was wonderful.

This class can be hard. Work hard and do the homework problems and you'll do okay. He was helpful. He did allow us to take test over to better our grades. Some test questions can be tricky.

Good class, we were allowed to use our flashcards during tests. His online projects were very helpful. The best part of the class was the team work, we had small groups and we could all work on one assignment and turn it in as a group.

WARNING! TESTS ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT! Prof. Washington does NOT give grades, you have to work for them. I will agree that his tests are difficult, but not impossible. I had taken 2 years off from college, and and took his business calc class, and I passed with a low A. It was a lot of work, but possible! I would recommend him to anyone who is willing to work for their grades.

I have taken Pro Washington for Elem Algebra to this class and he is a wonderful teacher. He is always available to answer any questions! I always advise people to take this class and if I had anymore math I would take his class again.

Algebra isn't the easiest subject for many, but this professor is by far the best at making it as easy as possible. I really like his step by step approach, and that he doesn't rely on MathLab to teach for him. If you understand the material, you will have no problem passing. If you ask questions, he will make sure you understand.

I took Professor Washington several years ago. I took beginning and college algebra with him. He was very clear on how he taught. He would walk you through the problems step by step. He has a real gift for teaching! Now that I am a teacher, I find I copy many things he did in my classroom including his famous saying "Ask me your question."

I had mr. washington for mat0024 he was a good teacher sometimes late but when you got into class he taught. he always wanted to make sure you knew what he was teaching and would stop if you needed help. i think he one of the best teachers to have for math especially if math is not one of your brightest subjects.

do not buy the book for his hybrid class, we never once used it. the guy never misses a step. great teacher. will make time to help you. smartest guy i have ever met when it comes to the numbers. he could teach a monkey algrebra. highly recomend for even the slowest of learners.

This prof is very helpful. Most of the class is self taught until the last half of the semester. He is very clear on all assignments and what he wants. If you can handle yourself, you'll do extremely well in his class. I'm taking him again in the summer for Intermediate. I'll renew my review then.

This might shock many of you, but I had Prof Washington for intermediate algebra almost 22 years ago. Despite this, I still remember his teaching even today while I help my own children through algebra. His classes are well designed and outlined for clear understanding of mathematics. Professor Washington is great at what he does. EXTREMELY helpful. I say extremely because I've never been a student of his (my schedule always conflicts with his class times) but he always helped me when I needed it at the math lab. He will break down a problem for you and will make sure you understand it, and then show you a shortcut. Amazing.

Professor Washington is very attentive and really cares about his students. The class semester is short so there is a lot to learn. He is willing to help but there are so many students that needs help, so of course some gets left behind like myself in some of the lessons. I did learn but not as much that I hope for.

uses mathxl, textbook is online. he wants you to pass and will help you when you need it but will make it clear that he wont give you the answer. make sure to do the homework and remember that you can print out the Mathxl homework assignments and bring them in with your questions.

My class was a hybrid class, which you were mostly behind the computer. Didn't need the text book, only had to pay for online class. He was super helpful when you needed. His teaching style was easy to understand.

I took MAC1105 twice before I took him and made an F twice. I took him and passed the class. Gives 2 attempts for each test and practice test is identical the exam.

Professor Washington is a solid choice for MAT1033. His teaching style is really easy to follow and he goes over the harder problems in class on the board. If you have a question he will make sure to keep at it until you understand the problem.

Awesome professor. Like many others, math is not my favorite but this guy made it easy to understand. MAthXL is used so there is no need for a book. 5 tests and 6 test is optional. Multiple opportunities to retake to improve score. Grading is quick as its done by the program. Do the work and there is no way you can fail.

Great professor, he's very nice and over explains which is good for me. If you have a lot of trouble in math, I think he'll be able to help you a lot. The class isn't the easiest, I took the 7 week and it was A LOT o f homework. But it was also only 4 tests and attendance wasn't mandatory as long as you kept your grades up.

Took an online CALC class which i thought was going to be rough. Turns out it was great. Couple homeworks/discussion a week. Quiz every week or every other week. 3 tests throughout class. All work can be done from home EXCEPT the tests, which have to be proctored. Gives multiple attempts on quizzes and 2 attempts on tests.

Professor Washington is very good. You do a lot of independent work. Homework is very easy and test are easy. 9/10 recommended

I have taken a 7-week MAT1033 class with Washington and it went by VERY FAST. It was easy, just do the work on Mathxl and you will pass. He cares for his students and wants the best for them. One of the best math professors who has actually taught me step-by-step problems without leaving a step. I will be taking him again for MAC1105.

Haylen is a super nice guy he gives you feedback every week and wants his students to pass. He emails you about how you can get an A and allows retakes on homework, quizzes and tests(which is good because the tests count for a majority of the grade). Pro-student and a great teacher to have.

I believe he is one of the best Professors at Kent Campus. Really cares that you understand the material and will take the time out to tutor you if you wish. He can be found in the Math lab in the library and gives a lot of second chances, If you put in tne work you will pass.

I would absolutely take this professor again. The course is challenging because the materials is new, however his lectures are extremely helpful with homework and test. The Professor uses lab days to go over any questions students may have about homework and quizzes. Always available in the math lab. Gives you multiple chances to take tests .

I took Professor Washingtons MAC1105 on line and was pleased with the outcome. Although College Algebra is a difficult course, Prof. Washington was very kind, helpful & encouraging each week. I highly recommend Mr. Washington if you have to take Calc for Business. He gives you two chances to take the tests which count the most towards your grade. He is a great math teacher and does his best to get you to really understand the material. Uses Mathlab which is eh but overall great professor to take for this course.

I'm not great at math but I did well in this class. The professor was super helpful and gave lectures that were clear and comprehensible. While attending the lectures isn't required, it is super helpful. Would def recommend this class and professor!

MAT1033 online is through Pearson, which requires an access code for the course ($64.99). ProctorU can have issues and costs $11 per session, so be warned! The times I reached out to the professor, he responded fairly quickly and was very nice. You get 8 attempts on the quizzes, and 2 attempts for chapter tests and the final exam!

The thing I loved about Prof Washington was his ability to meet me where I was. Math was difficult and I appreciated he would watch me do my homework, ID exactly where I kept tripping up, and offer ways to help. I also enjoyed we could redo our homework as many times as we needed in order to learn as long as it was completed before the due dates.

Class was cool, everything was open so you can do the course work as early as you want.

Professor Haylan Washington goes above and beyond what an instructor does. He ensures you understand the topics before moving to the next set of questions. Definitely take him if Math is not your strong suit. He is one of the BEST.

Prof Washington is a great professor and cares deeply about his students, with that being said he's also a great instructor that makes business calc doable. I highly recommend you take him as his personallity is hard not to get along with.

Prof. Washington is a good teacher for in person classes. Uses MyMathLab, 3 exams which are most of your grade, lenient on when H.W. is due. Covers material well in class and willing to help you on the outside. Get a full week to attempt each exam twice! Second class of exam week is used as exam day. Overall taught the material better than the book

Great professor, he explained math in a way that clicked with me. If you have issues on a problem just ask him and he'll explain it step by step without being condescending. My class had 4 exams, all proctored. These accounted for 60% of my grade, and while tough ar fair. You get 2 attempts on them and lots of resources before taking them so study.

Dr. Haylan Washington was so helpful! I've never been good at math, and I was recently diagnosed with several neurological disabilities. However, Dr. Haylan was very patient with me, and explained things in a way that helped me survive this course. I would HIGHLY recommend taking his courses. He is awesome!
