ok lets get this straight, this teacher said she wont dock you off for not writing dates and numbers bull, this teacher did exactly that...she never gave a perfect scoreon anything. DOesnt know the material shes teaching...
she is very helpful, understanding and knows alot about what she is teaching. gives study sheets and everything on there is what is on the test no tricky questions always has time to help out on homework or anything you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ms. Ramos is a very fair grader and a very good lecturer. She knows her stuff and expects you to know it come exam-time. She hands out a study guide prior to the test, so if you fail -- it is your own fault!
I knew she was gonna be good, thanks to this website. She actually turned out to be a great instructor, Her lectures were awesome. On the first day she memorized every student's names, that really freaked me out. The class was challenging which I enjoyed very much. Hazel you did an excellent job. Thank you for a memorable semester...:)
She grades very hard, and doesnt explain the material that she gives on the test. she is very unclear and never makes clear what she wants especially when it comes to writing a paper. she gives study guides but only if she would mention the material in class. wouldnt recommend her at all.
This teacher is very into the subject however most of her lectures are not even related to the test. She gives you tests that are pages long. She expects you to write the way she talks in her lectures. But she doesn't give test according to the material in class. So what does that tell you? She expects way to much and gives you so little time.
Class is somewhat easy, yet somewhat hard at the same time. No quizes or pop quizes, yet sometimes before class she'll ask you to do a group project on the book reading, which will be difficult if you didn't do the reading, but overall is easy. However, her midterm and final are pretty difficult, they are practically all essay, alot of writing.
She is a nice person but the assingments such as term papers are complicated. She wants them exactly the way she likes. Term papers which had nothing to do with American history, lowered my grade. For mid term and final you need to write for more than two hours . she is a hard grader and her speeches are not related to exams.
Two research papers, three exams and tons of writing for nothing. After all this effort, she grades unfair. Class started with 50 students and finished with 20.
She is is the worst teacher in GCC. she grades unfair and her midterm and final are very hard. she doesnt even explain the material but she gives test on it. She is the worst. I dont recoment her to anyone.
Tons of writing, keeping class till last minute, unfair grading, not recommended. After first test half of the class disapered.
She gives out 2 research papers that you have to write in a complicated style. When it comes to grading she is a very hard grader. If you are going to take her class be sure to have time to study and prepare your self for those research papers.
Ok it’s really hard to follow her train of thought. She’ll skip around. I very much enjoyed History before taking her class. I am transferred out of GCC now and I have to say it was the most boring class I have ever taken there. We just were not motivated in class. She’s very egocentric.
she is a great professor. she makes sure you understand the material and that your involved. she always let us out early too. she also cancels class a lot which can be a good thing
Whatever mentioned below is pure lie.
Hazel is a good teacher, she is just VERY specific about how she wants papers written. You will learn alot, but you will also be reading A LOT. She likes for students to project positive energy. Advice: speak up in class and keep up with your reading..

Made history interesting and interactive. She doesn't believe in lecturing but prefers class discussion. I will remember more of what I learned b/c of her style of teaching. A little unorganized but she tells you EXACTLY what will be on the test and if you are self-disciplined enough to study on your own it is an easy A. She's also very nice.
Has a different approach to teaching-seems to try to cover up for not really knowing what she is talking about-only knows other's opinions which doesn't matter anyway-doesn't really teach, just has discussions.
Is a very smart teacher. She is very precise about how she wants her homework turned in and tells you exactly what to study for on her tests. She is very helpful in anything you don't understand. I loved going to class because her discussions made history so much easier to remember, and mainly discussed key points that are important.
She is absolutely a joy! She loves history and women making a difference and it empowers one. She is fair and expects nothing but the best from a Womens History student. Great teacher, great example.
Not that good of a teacher. Not really that knowledgeable in history at all, especially U. S. women's history. Tries to act real casual, like she has a different style of teaching, when she really has no style of teaching. She is not really that qualified to teach it seems. Temperamental too.
She is one of the hottest professors Ive had and she has both the looks and the brains to back it up. I recomend her to anyone who wants to learn and at the same time enjoy it just follow her guiidelines and do the essays and you will pass, did I mention shes HOT.
hes alright
She is a great teacher!!! She likes class participation, and to know that her students understand. I hated history b4 this class now I am excited to go to class everyweek!!!
OMG, Let me just say that Ms.Ramos is THE BEST!!!!!!! she is so freaking awesome. taking her class was the best. shes a great teacher and is so so helpful. just do the reading and you'll pass the class!
Great teacher! Very knowledgeable with the material and understands how to teach it. She is very helpful and understanding. Read the book, participate in class and do the work, and you will pass with an easy A.
Mrs.Ramos is very enthusiastic. She didn't really lecture us during class and 90% of the time we did group discussions focusing on critical analysis of the documents. Her tests are very easy, but her final is little hard. You have to do weekly analysis and if you do it will greatly help you on the test. She's very helpful too. Must read text book.
She is a really great teacher, but if you are into not doing too much work this class is not for you. Is somewhat demanding with the assignments you must do them or you have no chance of passing the class.
interesting class easy if you read and prticipate
shes nice but not an easy class...miss one thing nd ur screwed...i dont suggest it...especially if u dont have time on ur hands...very time consuming class
I took Hazel Ramos for history 111. I absolutely loved this class. Because this was a hybrid class, it scared me at first, but you get used to posting homework online. She is very helpful. She is aslo very knowledgeable and very, very passionate about the material. If you need to take this class, I highly recommend her.
Prof Ramos is so passionate about history. She makes her students feel comfortable and is very accepting toward opinions across the spectrum. She projects her voice very loud and clear and keeps you alert. I HATE history, but she actually made it fun and interesting. You ARE at school, so you have to work.. but her expectations are very reasonable.
I know, she is HOT, she is nice, young, funny and makes you to enjoy the class. but none of these gonna make you a grade. she is REALLY HARD ON GRADING. answers email like once a week. you have to turn in your HW to turn it in.com, email her and post it to her website. and if the deadline is passed, then your SCREWED. up to you...
She is very helpful...I took the hyrbid course... it was tense! The blogs are fun but the text is confusing...but when I left the class I had gained a lot of knowledge..But too much work for a 3 unit class...tests are ok if you study your butt off..also her final is multiple choice 100questions...she's really nice
NICEST COOLEST MOST HELPFUL TEACHER AT GCC. She cares so much! Don't complain that she marks hard. It's college. Don't expect to get an easy A. I put in my effort and got an A. Honestly how can you not when she makes it so clear and you just need to do things on time? Course is quite interesting and work load is fair. You will get what you put in.
She cares A LOT about her students. Her lectures are sort of all over the place. She switches up the test taking, some tests will be multiple choice and some are essays. Don't wait last minute to read, because you will NOT do well on the tests or quizzes if you wait until the last night to do the reading you WON'T do well on the quiz/test.
I took the hybrid class, which consisted of on-campus lectures and Internet homework. The class itself was interesting and great. She is an effective teacher and encourages everyone to get involved. Weekly homework (blogs), in-class discussions, few quizzes, one midterm, one final, and one research paper. I highly recommend Ramos.
i took her for a hybrid class. The class meetings felt like a waste of time. Her lectures are poorly structured and lacked significance. there r weekly assignments on each chapt where you blog about 700 words.she is so behind on grading. we're on blog 11 and she has only graded blog 2. she gives study guides for tests. tests are short answers.
GREAT TEACHER
she is amazing. yes i passed with a D+, but still she is amazing. i love her. she cares about everyone! please take her. you will love her enthusiasm! she teaches wonderfully. study notes you take in class, book is not needed a lot. a quiz each week! studyyyyyyyy! =)
If you are not a history person the class might be boring and kinda hard, but I loved the class and I enjoyed the discussions because I am a history person. She really really cares about her students and wants you to get a good grade. All you have to do is read the weekly reading which is like 5 pages (nothing for a history class) and study 4tests
Hazel Ramos is the best teacher I ever had. She loves teaching and is extremely helpful to all her students. The class is a challenge but she helps her students understand the cause and effects of Western European history. The class consists of reading material on your own time*(must read) and class discussions to fully understand the big picture.
Prof. Ramos is a wonderful teacher, full of enthusiasm and passion. There IS a lot of writing to do for the hybrid class, and all of the exams are short answer essays. One multimedia project is due at the end of the class as well, which did require some effort. All in all, she was terrific, and more importantly, I learned a lot.
Great teacher. She's super enthusiastic about what she teaches and cares a lot about her students. Pay attention and read what is assigned and you'll do fine. And she's CUUUUUUUTE! =]
She's hilarious (when she's not talking about history). You can tell she's an amazing person: positive, humerous, etc. She's pretty great. Her class is hard, but managable. As long as you read and take her study guides very seriously, you should do well in the class. If you're bad at memorizing dates, names, etc...then don't take the class!
She is the bestt teacher, i love her ! If you like history then go for it, if not then you'll still get by, its not a hard class just have to read and get quizes every week.. and tests are essays GOODLUCK
She is super hot. If you miss class it really does not matter because you do absolutely nothing anyway. Yet she is the hardest grader ever.
I don't get all this people talking about how hard she is? This people think that they are still in middle school and want to do the least amount of work and get good grades. If you like history this is a real fun class, and you will learn alot, if you don't, you can still do well in the class but you have to study to get your A.
Yes, Prof. Ramos is a nice, easy to talk to person, but as a professional she needs to get her act together. Canceled class 5 times during the semester and decided to change the final to a ridiculous, big project with 4 weeks left. Takes ages to return exams and will bore you w/ lectures. If you get stuck with her, read the book and you'll do fine.
I absoulutly LOVED this class. Professor Ramos is super passionate about history and it really and that rubs off on her students. Don't expect her to be super easy, you do have to work and there is weekly quizes and readings, but if you read the chapter you will be fine. The only negative thing about her is that she is a late grader.
LOVED her. Her tests are all written. Book is a must have. Weekly reading but its usually only 10-15 pages.I worked my butt off but i got an A. The class is challenging and she expects you to critically analyze history not just memorize like most teachers. Not the most organized, but she is a fair grader and it makes the class very interesting.
Amazing teacher! Made the class fun and extremely helpful. Tests consists of essays. A lot of notes, but she does review for tests. Overall amazing experience! You'll enjoy it!
Was absoluty without a doubt the most aswome history teacher... She's excited to teach, and makes you just as excited to learn... All I wanted to do is travel, travel, and, travel to italy.. She's amazing... I dnt belive I ever heard her b unhelpful or uninteresting to any of my classmates..go Ramos
The best History teacher in GCC.
Professor Ramos has been one of the best history teachers I have ever encountered. She teaches with a passion that I wish most educators would posses. She makes the class fun and enjoyable. Her tests are passable as long as you follow her study guides. Just an amazing educator, wish they were more like her?
She is an amazing teacher! Her lectures are always fun and engaging. Her tests are not that hard. I would study a couple hours the day before and get As on all the tests. She doesn't grade too hard but you still have to put an effort into her class. I learned a lot and she is one of my favorite teachers at GCC
Excellent teacher! Very clear and motivating. All you need to do is come to class, pay attention, review for a little while and you'll be good for the test. Not really a fan of history but she made it fun. Definitely a great professor!
Professor Ramos is a perfect example of brains+beauty+personality. I used to hate history but now I love it. TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
best history teacher ever she really cares about teaching her students, keep up with the readings and participate in class and u should b golden
Professor Ramos is the best History teacher in GCC. The class is intensive and uses a lot of up to date technology. If you keep up with your assignments tests are going to be easy for you.
the worest teacher ever, do not take her
she is the best
i took her for a hybrid class.
She is by far the worst teacher i've had at GCC. Her notes are absolute crap, You dont need to show up for class, she doesn't teach, you read all the time at home. She demands extreme clarity for her tests, when her notes are not even connectable. I've taken notes in her class and i looked over it and saw so much inconsistency. She's a bad teacher
Her tests are essay based and require you think deeper about history rather than just reciting facts. If you read the textbook and pay attention in her lectures, you should be able to get a good grade. She is an awesome professor. I really enjoyed her class. Remember, if you want to do well, read the textbooks and put in the work.
She has good intentions but she's horrible about returning work and tests, so it's hard to know where you stand as far as grades. The lectures were useless most of the time. So make sure you do the readings and study!! .. felt like a "independent study"..
do not take her
very bad teacher
It is true that she is a slow grader. She is candid about it and if you are not a strong student you will likely struggle. I did learn a lot and love her personality. Study hard!
Great teacher, must read text book, and take notes! you really need to work for your grade!
Dont take this class, pointless unless you like to be around a computer 24/7. She is a nice lady, but seriously she makes you email one thing three times, nah. I didnt want to drop this class but im not going to email one thing three times, what is the point of that extra work? DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Want to see a lazy teacher? Take H. Ramos. She doesn't return papers, lets students run the class, not lectures, not organized. Boring, boring teacher. I remember my h.s. history teacher: exciting, lots of energy, lots of information, my h.s. teacher better than this college teacher. Take another teacher, not Ramos
Grades slow & doesn't tell you where you stand. Doesn't respond to emails. Assignments are "busy work" like writing blogs & listening to podcasts which aren't her teaching, it's someone else. Doesn't go over the book, but tests it. She talks more about the podcasts which doesn't make sense since the tests are from the book. Overall a lazy teacher.
It's true that you don't get grades back but she's a fun teacher. She gives easy online quizzes every week that take 15 minutes to do. Her class is very interesting and the notes she takes on the board are all on the test. I simply glanced at the book and studied her notes and got an A in the class. Easy A if you attend class/do hw.
Daily reading and keeping up with assignments is crucial to her class. Although she grades slow you tend to have a good idea of what you are getting on your own. She gives study guides for two midterms and the questions are almost straight off the study guide except for her final. Her final is relatively more difficult than her midterms.
I absolutely LOVED this class! She is very helpful and cares about her students. What I would recommend to people who want to pass this class is to buy/rent the textbook she'll use AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and highlight all the vocabulary words she gives you. As for studying you'll need the bigger index cards (5x8)to analyze the vcoab words. Have fun!
by far the worst teacher. she told us we will be talking about WW I when the whole time we were talking about adolf hitler which last time i checked was in WWII. you will get absolutely no solid notes to study off of and you will be told to express your opinion then get a right wrong answer. how do i study for a test that i have no solid notes on?
I regret taking this class-now I didn't slack off, granted I could have studied harder but she is a bad teacher. Honestly class discussions can go WAY off topic and you end up learning jack. She never gives lectures that help on the test-MEMORIZE the book you'll be fine. every test has like 5 chapters-not easy. her 'short answers' are 1 page essays
She is really bad bad bad and bad. Avoid her class seriously.
Regret taking this class. You need to memorize the book like its the bible, otherwise forget about it. Her lectures&class discussions are USELESS. You are never able to take notes b/c the topics she discusses are not on the tests so whats the point..Her tests are extremely hard, she expects 1 page for each short answer..she has like 5. Don't bother
we wrote and wrote 24/7. she does not take care your work if she likes you, you will be ok. it is really not your work to make your grade up. it is only depends on if she interested in you.
My first semester out of high school being a C+ average student I worked hard for this class. The tests and quizzes all came from the book which she posts specific key words and pages to read online. If you want an easy A, not here. Read assigned pages, and take notes during lectures and while reading.Chances are you don't have a photograpic memory.
Hybrid class. Too much work. Bad behavior... She don't care about her students. She it's there only to make many. No teaching, no grading, no lecturing... Totally waste of time
The teacher is knowledgable and helpful. She cares about her students but this class is tough. She posts the homeworks online and usually waits until late the night before it's due to post it. Very annoying. She drops people that miss 5 classes so don't miss.
Amazing Professor. She is extremely clear and concise with the material, gives homework assignments that help you to get an A on all tests, highly organized, and wants to make her class exciting for you. How to get an A: Sit in the front row of class, pay attention, participate, do all homework, do not be absent, and study! I got an A.
Worst history teacher ever. Prepare to teach yourself at home cause you'll learn nothing from her. Lectures always deviate from topic and end in liberal rants of sorts.
She must go!,
She is a tough professor BUT you will learn history and you will learn how to succeed if you "suck it up" and STUDY!!!! One of the top professors I've ever had!
READ THE BOOK. Memorize the key terms she puts on the reading worksheets which are almost essential to passing considering all that is on those worksheets will be on the tests. Show up to class for the questions that she puts on the board because they will be the short answer questions on the test. Goes off topic a lot too.
She was a pretty awesome teacher she got of ftopic sometimes but she definitely gives you tips to help you succeed in her class. I thought i deserved an A but Im cool with a B. She's super cute and very proactive definitely the best history teacher at GCC and one of my favorites ever. Keep killin it Ramos
not recommend her
Great instructor. Very understanding and knowledgeable.
I took this class thinking I would be lucky to pass with a B but ended up with an A. If you do the reading, complete all assignments (which she gives credit just for doing), and participate, you will be fine. She's an exemplary woman, gives life advice and encouragement, and is also very humorous! I loved her and definitely will take again.
Great professor, just do the homework, read the text, and listen during her lectures and you will be fine. She is helpful and explains the material pretty well. Exams are straight forward, not really difficult if you read, do the homework, and listen during the lectures. Also, she is a great motivational speaker. Good class discussions and engaging
Professor Ramos is very clear-cut and specific. She helped me to enjoy history and that is no easy feat seeing as I barely passed most all of my previous history courses. Lectures are great and it is incredibly important to take good notes. The one down side, moodle is so important and she often posts the reading assignments the day before class.
I was torn between being a history or philosophy major and after taking her I chose history! She's an amazing teacher & her lectures are full of passion & they go really fast. I would love to take her again & she really just wants you to succeed. Great class!
Mrs Ramos is an amazing professor. Very active, very funny and yes... she does give you a lot of homework and assignments are not always easy. However if you follow her guidance the tests will seem like a piece of cake.
Ms Ramos is a fair grader. Take time to read and comprehend the readings she assigns, then you will pass the class. If you go one step further by taking great notes, then you're golden. // Miss Ramos stresses the importance of networking; so, talking to classmates will be a norm. // Honestly, class isn't mandatory if you work hard and read. 9/10
She's great. You have to read or you won't do well, if you participate in class you will do better. She likes participation and gives pep talks! Go to class or you will miss information. You will need a computer for her class.
Professor Ramos is not an easy A, and you most definitely need to work hard for it. I took her over the winter session, and she gave a ridiculous amount of reading, and homework to do. She's very positive, and wants you to do good, but doesn't baby you. Overall, take her if you think you can balance it with your other classes.
Took her class over winter. You have to work for an A, do the readings, study well and participate. Take her class if you want to better yourself, take her advice seriously and you will succeed in any class thereafter. She is an excellent professor, knowledgeable and a classy lady. I am glad that I retook her course. You will reap what you sow.
Miss Ramos made me hesitate regarding my major)) I took her class in Fall 2016. every lecture was such an inspiration, she is funny and caring, gives excellent advice on how to succeed in her class and in college in general. Yes, there's lots of homework and tests are not easy, but i would take her again 10 times in a row:)
If you are in College to study, then she is the best Hist 101 prof. ever. She does open discussions in class, she is such a good speaker and easy going professor in general.
Professor Ramos inspired me to be a history major. She focuses on the impact of history on the world today, which makes what you're learning in class accessible and relevant. She loves her students and her job which makes it a pleasure to be in her class. I highly recommend taking her class!! She is WONDERFUL! Great lectures. Lots of support.
Professor Ramos is a very sweet and kind woman, but as far as teaching her class was horrible. Waaaay too many homework assignments. About 30 reading worksheets due every other day. 1 end of the semester project. 3 exams and a final. Lectures the entire class period. You will definitely need the book and actually read the chapters to pass her tests
The class was hard. But she is sooooo hot and it was worth it. She is wise beyond her years. If you want to look at a beautiful woman for an hour and a half, this is the class for you. One of the hottest professors I have ever had. She smells incredible, too.
At times I sat in class and looked at her, and thought, God, she's beautiful. Her beauty comes from a deep place within her. She truly cares for her students and will fight for you. Her accent is South African. If I could take her 10 times in a row, I will.
She changed my mind about everything. She gave me hope that I could believe in myself and succeed. She knows everyone's name and doesn't just see you as a number. She has this South African accent that keeps you on your toes and she projects her voice really loud. She is also really beautiful.
She has such pretty eyelashes. Her accent is attractive. and distracting from the lectures. She has that caring nature that you don't see anymore. She has that something about her. Wonderful teacher.
Ramos was the most inspirational Professor's I had at GCC, and I have only been here two semesters. She does give a ton of reading assignments but if you read it carefully and thoroughly, you will pass the class and have a better understanding of the tests that she gives. Would definitely take her class again and recommend her.
She is absolutely stunning and amazing in every way possible. While the rest of the world is at a certain standard, she makes her own. She will not just be your professor, she will be your friend for life. I hope I grow up to be as beautiful as she is.
At the beginning, she makes it seem like she's amazing but actually, she really isn't that great. She cancels class way too much. Her lectures doesn't coincide with the tests, class, or sometimes doesn't even have anything to do with school at all. She takes forever to grade tests and is really forgetful. The only thing is that SHE IS A HOTTIE!!!!!
She talks about her husband way too much. She slacks off and goes off topic a lot. Comes to class late and ends class early. There's something manic about her that doesn't seem right to me. Really disappointing, since she gave me high expectations on the first day.
She isn't really that great. She keeps on saying "We will go over and talk about this topic next class." But then she ends up never talking about the subject she was going to talk about.
Her lectures consist of partner work and class discussion. She's a really slow grader which can be annoying at times. She's really energetic and passionate about both history and teaching. 2 reading worksheets due every week, 3 tests, 1 class project, & the final. She's a good professor and will really get you interested in history.
Professor Ramos is a great choice as she makes the subject interesting through her class discussions. That being said, reading worksheets are due every week which requires extensive reading and can often become dull, but are necessary for class participation. I would definitely recommend for anyone to take her class.
She is qualified and knows the subject matter; but she gives far far too many reading assignments that require answering up to 15 to (sometimes) 20 questions, in supposedly about two to three sentences. Yet complete answers usually reaquire more than three sentences. Successful teaching requires more than forced completion of infinite assignments
Ramos is a wonderful person and inspires you to be a better person. However, she barely teaches anything about history. You have extensive readings, then you gather into small groups to list out the bullet points. She basically does nothing. We had maybe 3 lectures all semester and although good, that wasn't nearly enough knowledge for me.
Online class is an easy A! She makes you do a bunch of discussion posts, watch short documentaries, and listen to podcasts, but if you like history you'll enjoy it. Even if you don't like history, she's a very easy grader. She's kinda disorganized and takes awhile to grade, but the tests and assignments are very simple and straightforward. Was fun!
Prof Ramos is overall a good professor. Her lectures engage you and she challenges her students to think and share their ideas in class. Her energy is contagious which leads to a positive and fun class environment! She is very clear about her assignments, the only thing is that she doesn't show us our grades. Ever. Very accessible and caring!
Professor Ramos is caring and inspirational, you will learn a lot in her class, you'll also do well if you work hard.
Super nice&caring. I liked her a lot as a person. Though she doesn't teach a lot IMO. Sends you home with a lot of reading&that's primarily how you learn. No lectures. You have discussions with your peers on the material in class then as a class quickly review it w/the prof. Grades exams pretty easy. If you learn well on your own, it's an easy A.
One of the best professors I ever had the pleasure of taking. Her classes are pretty cut and dry. Show up with the material done and in your head, participate in class discussions, and turn in work on time, and you'll do fine.
She doesnt teach anything. Everything you need to learn are from the readings. She gives 2 Online quizzes every single week and expects you to answer like 20 questions and read like 6 pages.(twice a week). Also she does not grade anything until the last week of school. And the last week comes she posts the final grade by assuming it.
The best professor at GCC. You have to read a lot, but that's expected from a history class. As long as you do the reading quizzes and study for tests you'll be fine.
She's nice but I don't recommend taking her class. All her tests are based from the reading/quizzes that she gives twice every week, waits until last week of school AND DOES NOT EVEN GRADE THEM.
I didnt like the way she taught the class. And doesnt really teach anything.
Okay she gives A LOT of work. I had her for a 8 week class and I was drowning in homework. Don't let that scare you. Her homeworks are VERY easy and straightforward you just have to read a lot. She grades EASILY and her. I absolutely love her
HIST 141: This class can be hard or easy, just depending on how your outlook is for her class. She wants you to work for it, but if you tell her what your goals are, she will make it better for you. Making a study group for this class makes it 10x easier, you don't need to memorize dates for this history class
She gives lots of homework/quizzes and reading every single week! She doesn't grade them until school ends so you will not know what grade you have.
Good professor when it comes to learning but I want to give some perspective when it comes to life and school. Ramos gives a good amount of work for such small amounts of overall points. No tests curve! During the pandemic even with the glaringly obvious depletion of class quality she still didn't curve tests or even grade tests more reasonable.
Professor Ramos lets you know from the get-go that her class is filled with readings and homework. Especially in an accelerated 8 week class, though she makes everything so accessible and addresses any situation a student has.
This is not a history class. This is an English class. There's lots of readings and answering questions.
Really good professor who holds together a very organized and efficient class structure. There are a lot of writing assignments, but as long as you follow the rubric you will get a good grade. If you can read and write well then this will be an interesting and easy class.
Professor Ramos assigns a lot of homework, however, if you like history then you will be fine with the assignments. It's expected for online history courses to have a lot of reading assignments/homework. She is very caring and understanding and she provides all the readings and articles so a textbook is not needed.
Prof. Ramos was such a gem and was available even late in the night for help. She went out of her way to make sure we understood everything we were assigned and doing. Please don't hesitate to take her class. yes, there is a lot of work and readings but we covered a lot in 8 weeks. Everything was based on the reading material so it wasn't hard!
Professor Ramos is one of the best professors, genuinely cares for her students, and an incredibly authentic individual! Although her class is somewhat hard, it is rather fun - especially in an online environment. She loves giving tips to students on their professional lives and mental health. It is possible to get an easy A without reading!
save your sanity. this class is not worth it. She assigns tons of work each week and grades none of it till the end of the semester then states if you format it wrong she wont grade it at all, yet does not tell you if it wrong. Accepts 0 late work and doesnt care about students at all. It is evident she is just here for a paycheck.
Professor Hazel Ramos is a very good teacher. She gives you chance to complete homework one day later. She is very caring and can give you a chance to complete a work which she graded 0. This class is not much difficult. If you really want to read and study history this is the best class for you!
HIST170 was all online and quite a bit of work, but Prof Ramos is very clear in her expectations. No big essays, but quizzes, discussions, and small writing assignments every week. If you are a history major like me, you will likely enjoy the material taught in the class. Overall, I would recommend Professor Ramos.
Great online class- lots of homework and reading are to be expected. She gives her students a grace period which is so nice and makes a good grade attainable. Reading material is interesting, assignments are diverse, and she is a fair grader. Be sure to read the material so you do well on the tests.
sooo much reading since its only an 8-week course, and an honors course on top of that. most of your grade is discussion posts and responses based on the readings, which was nice. very clear about deadlines and gives extensions if we need it. if you have any questions she responds really quickly too. overall i liked it more than i thought i would
At first glance, this is a really overwhelming class with all the readings and writings. Once you get into it though, Professor Ramos' grading criteria and deadlines are super clear. She also gives a one day grace period and is understanding when it comes to due dates. Getting an A in her class is definitely achievable if you put in the effort
Professor Ramos was honestly a pleasure. She gave just enough assignments to keep the course material interesting, and everything was graded accordingly. Literally, just do the readings and you will pass. Sure, there was a lot of material to read, but all you really need is to skim over it, just my opinion though, and answer the questions.
She assigns way too much reading and the questions she assigns on the tests were things that she never lectured on on. She doesn't really teach anything. She talks about her life and goes off topic a lot.
Prof Ramos' class is extremely interesting and the most amazing thing about her class is her grading criteria. She is incredibly specific with instructions, which makes it easier for students to succeed. Yes, there is an immense amount of assigned reading, however, the assignments are very doable if the right amount of effort is put in. Take her!
The writing assignments are just too strict, like if the assignment was 2-4 sentences and you wrote 5 sentences points would be taken off.
If you want to pass then just do the work exactly as she wants. don't worry if you disagree with her or other students on any political issue so the less you talk the better. just make sure you get a good grade. remember its your butt that would have to take class again, so don't worry about others opinion. even if someone insults you. i
I took her 8 week HIST 180. Her course was pretty unorganized but she was very easy to contact and she would fix things and give you another chance because it was her fault. 4-5 quizzes a week (around 10 questions each), 1 discussion post per week (200 word post and 2x 100 word responses), Final was just 4 more quizzes (14 questions each).
Took her HIST120 online class. Amazing professor, she actually cares about her students and is really accessible and understanding. 1 discussion and 3-4 quizzes a week. No extra credit opportunities, but the material is fairly easy and actually interesting.
Professor Ramos' HIST170 class is well-structured with consistent due dates. While it's reading-heavy, unstuckstudy helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, a manageable and rewarding course.
Professor Ramos was amazing. This course is a lot of reading, but it's honestly a routine, and her due dates are so consistent that it's manageable and never too much.
There's a lot of reading but nothing crazy. At times her lectures are engaging and fun even though we often go off topic. Her tests are very fair and she provides good study guides for them. She talks about her personal life a lot, including political beliefs. Bit of a warning, if you politically are on the right, you dont want to take her class.
Amazing Prof
If you've taken any AP history course, this class will be a breeze. The online assignments are super easy and as long as you do the weekly readings (which are a reasonable length), you'll be fine for the tests. She makes the lectures super engaging and she is very reasonable if you reach out to her. Def recommend taking her for history!
