She is a definite slave driver you will not get through this class without at least 2 hours of homework a night. I spent more time on this class than I did on all 5 of my other classes combined and still did not do as well. She is tough but put in the work and you will learn something!!!

Heather was super helpful. If you didn't understand something she would take the time to explain it. If you put forth an effort and show that you want to be there and want to learn, she will go out of her way to help you. On the other hand if you just show up to class and don't participate she also wont show an interest in helping you either.

Heather is a good teacher and you will get a good understanding of the history of the American economy. There is a lot of work in this class, but all of it is valid to the class. I feel like I got a lot out of this one. Anyone who would bad mouth this teacher is just lazy. You are in college to learn. Good class, well done Heather.

I agree with past comments that Heather is a hard teacher. She makes her class so that you have to attend and keep up on course work. That being said, she is very knowledgeable and fair. She drops a few quizzes and gives opportunities for make up. She even gives a little extra credit. Come on people this isn't high school anymore!

Best teacher ever. I had both Macro and Micro (2010 and 2020) with her last two semester. very knowledgeable about the material, organized and really care about her student . too many quizzes but she can work with you if you miss any quiz. if you want to learn Econ very, well she is best option. definitely recommend her

Really good teacher and helper. She gives her best effort to make sure you get work done. If you show commitment, she will make sure to help you earn the grade you want.

Heather is a wonderful teacher. (I am 47 and I have been a teacher.) Heather teaches the material and does so in a variety of ways. She also incorporatesteaches variety of technologies, which was intimidating to me, but I learned to trust her on that, too. She knows economics, stays on topic, and is an interesting person. I enjoyed the class.

Heather is an engaging and effective professor. She presents the information clearly and provides excellent examples to help you apply the concepts to the real world. Her teaching style incorporates a variety of activities and assignments. There are quite a few quizzes, but she makes herself available to help anyone who needs it.

It's not a surprise to me that the individuals criticizing this teacher, did poorly in the class. The MATERIAL is difficult. Very difficult. Heather is an excellent professor. She very obviously tries to help as many students who are actively trying to learn and participate as she can. During office hours, she gladly offers help.

The class was easy as long as you show up. She is a fun teacher. The homework is pretty easy.

Heather is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is always willing to help students and makes economics fun. I've learned a lot from her. She is big on participation and attendance, but if you attend the tests and quizzes are easy.

Great professor. This class was an easy A. Just do the homework and you're fine. I never had to ask her questions outside of class, so I don't know how well she handled that.

Professor Schumaker was a very fun personality to work with. The class was heavy on homework and quizzes. She took time to fairly grade everything turned in. If you don't know what to do, ask her, she will be happy to give you clarity in anything. The class was very time consuming but if you're going to take it she is a great choice.

I am shocked some gave a poor rating. She is the BEST teacher of the 30+ I've had at SLCC. She uses a lot of class participation, so her lectures are not boring. She ensures the class is understands before moving on. She requires the average amount of work, all of which I felt was beneficial. Easy A, just do the work, study, and come to class.

Heather is amazing, she honestly made everything make so much sense. There is always food and extra credit. I got a High A in her class.

Professor Schumacker makes her lectures interesting and is enthusiastic! I learned a lot from her class. Despite a lot of homework, it was easy to get a good grade. She does give out many assignments in a given week, but some are simple, or done in class, and she gives you plenty of time to do them.

I took her online 1740 class and she was amazing to work with. She is easy to talk to and really works with you. I would suggest this class to anyone.

Professor Schumacher was has a good sense of humor, and is very easy to talk to. Some of the homework and assignments seemed mundane and was difficult to interpret. Luckily she offers a lot of extra credit, so don't be too worried if you don't ace every assignment. If you participate during class, you should have no problem receiving a good grade.

She was a lot of fun, I dont like history, but learning about the US economy was easy because of how she taught and how easy it was to ask questions.

Great content, honest feedback and you get LOT'S of practice in writing papers. A plethora of homework but worth it because there were not very many tests. Awesome Professor.

Online course was fairly easy, she gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Responds quickly to emails. There are a lot of writing assignments. A couple of group projects. I had surgery mid semester and she was very understanding. No penalty for late work as long as you communicate with her. Definitely recommend

Schumacker is an amazing professor! She gives you the opportunity to do a good job and learn something. I would take her class again in a heartbeat! There was a lot of work, but as long as you do your work you will pass. Easy A. :) Take this class!!!

This was a fairly easy class. There are a lot of videos and writings required, but if you watch the videos and take good notes, the assignments and discussions are easy to complete. There are some group projects as well, but they weren't very hard as long as you did your research and stayed on top of your work throughout the semester.

I had a really tough semester, this teacher was willing to work with me to get my grade to a decent place. She gave me really good feedback on the projects I submitted, and let me improve on one or two of them. There was a group project, and my partner never responded so it was left up to me, but it was accomplished fairly easily.

Would absolutely take more classes from Heather! She is a great professor who I feel lets you know exactly what she wants and doesn't really hide anything like other professors do. I have had a rough semester at home and she has worked with me on everything. She is super understanding.

She has a big work load but it honestly makes you appreciates that other teachers don't. The work load is two or three assignments a week but there not hard assignments. If you can't get them done in time of being do she lets them put you off until you can. She is extremely understanding about life happening. She is sooooooo good at teaching.

Although this is a difficult class, Ms. Schumacker was probably the most helpful teacher I've ever had. She has no problem with helping you in her free time and she made it clear from the first day I met her that she was there to help us all no matter what. Her class may be stressful and hard but she realizes that and teaches/acts accordingly.

The information that is covered in this class is difficult and you would need to spend a lot of time studying, reading and memorizing. However, Heather is amazing at teaching the subject and she makes it clear that she is there to help you succeed. One of my favorite classes that I've ever taken at slcc!

This is a super interesting course to take, however, of all the courses I have taken, this was the most work. It had the most assignments, group work and larger projects. Many assignments required extra research. Lots of weekly quizzes and assignments, and portions of writing. Fulfils the US Institutions requirement and uses E-Portfolio.

While she is a tough grader, she is very understanding of situations and accommodating. She gives a lot of good insight I would never have gotten outside of her class.

She warns everyone about the time needed to spend outside of class to work on homework in the first week of school, so it's up to you if you want to be in her class. But she has been really helpful, gives great feedback, and even though it is a lot of assignments, just attend, pay attention, manage time, and you will succeed, trust me.

If I remember right she has a PhD in US eco hist plus MS in both anthro &comm. I had bad health &marital problems but I talked to her thru the semester. Grading policy was anything B- or better you can skip the final. I didn't take the final bc of the stress of my marriage with a solid C+ &she passed me. Trust me what u learn is worth any effort.

I really enjoyed my time with Professor Schumacher. The course was a little intense with the amount of homework, but usually the notes were pretty straightforward, and I really liked how every assignment had a clear purpose and was useful. There are occasional one-page write-ups, and quizzes every week. There is also a big group final project.

Heather Schumacker is a great teacher! She explains concepts clearly, includes group work, and makes classes interactive. You need to stay engaged during the semester, but it's simple—attend lectures, do the homework, and the final will be manageable. The late policy is flexible. Highly recommend!

I took this as a summer course, thinking it would be easy... it was not. This is a very intense class, lots of homework, lots of assignments, group work, and a LOT of moving parts at once for this class. Heather was amazing, though, and was there for you if you had any questions or needed extra time on something. Would rec as long as you plan right
