Nice teacher and teaches well - with nice writing and clear notes! She loves Ice Tea so much as I always see her to bring her own bottle of ice tea in during lecture... hahaha

Shes a good prof but when it comes to tests shes the devil!

Dr. Addy brings an admirable lucidity to biology, she has that rarest of sartorial gifts: the ability to explain difficult concepts simply. She is knowledgeable, patient, and approacheable. Her frequently unfunny jokes are all the more endearing for that.

she had no control over the class. Would let stupid keeners ask questions about material not related to course and spend 5-10 mins to answer them. when class was loud, made empty threats. BRUTAL TESTS! need to know everything off by heart from text/notes

She's an awesome proff, who knows her stuff, and applies her own knowledge and research to class. She's very willing to find the answer if she doesn't know. Kudos! Tests are very technical, precise, and challenging, which is OK if you attend class. Really engaging lectures, fun to attend.

Excellent Prof, the tests are quite easy if you actually take the time to learn the stuff. Tries to make lectures a little less mundane than normal; doesn't always suceed, but it's not bad. Very clear and precise; there was nothing on the tests that she didn't cover in class.

She is awesome! I loved her. She helped me with all the problems I had. Exams were tough, but nothing compared to what comes later, so I can only assume that everyone who was whining hasn't taken more courses in biology at U of C. Good luck to you if you do. :)

SHE IS TOTALLY FAB! She is a great teacher with GREAT notes, and she always makes the effort to address all student questions. I loved her and would totally recommend her.

notes were well put together and harder topics were always explained again in a following lecture to clarify.Knows what she is talking about very well and uses alot of visuals to help summarize the material covered in the course.DEFINATELY WOULD RECOMMEND

This is a great class made simple by Dr.Addy's great notes and exam outlines. She the notes on blackboard, so you can print of the notes and fill in the blanks during lecture. The exam outlines make studying much easier. If you can get into this class, do it!

She was absolutely fabulous! She explained everything with such clarity that even the most difficult concepts were no longer a problem. She certainly seems to care about the students and is excellent for first year students. She doesn't expect memorization of all the little details and her notes are very clear and organized. All in all a great prof

What a sweetheart! She honestly cares about her subject and does her best to teach it to YOU! She gets a bit flustered and doubts herself when she discovers a problem or you ask a hard question, but she always comes back the next day with the answer. Genuine, funny, friendly and intelligent. Wonderful professor!

She was very easy to understand and very approachable. Her midterm was really easy but then she made the final more difficult.

Great teacher. This course is basically high school biology, really easy. If you can, take the course with her. She goes over confusing concepts really heavily. Midterm's relatively easy; final is a bit trickier so make sure to study. I love biology and an A+ was easy to get in this course;put a little effort, esp. into lab writeups,you'll be fine.

Great prof... involves the students, which is a huge plus for a 4:00 class! Has great control over the classroom & will go back over anything in class if enough people don't get it. If it's just you - she'll still go over it, just not for the whole class.

She's the BEST teacher I've ever had! She's a good speaker, her notes are organized, and her tests are fair! I don't think you even need to read the text as I found everything that you need to know from the text summarized in her notes. She dedicates a lot of time for helping students outside of the lecture. Do NOT miss any courses offered by her!!

LOVED this prof! Reminded me of my high school bio teacher. Uses really organized outlines that she goes through well.. Really fair midterm. If you study well/read the textbook, its a good class. Also she emails extremely fast and is very helpful. I dotn like plants but it was defs bearable with her. Would defs take her again!

Tests were okay, some challenging questions. Going to lecture helps but the course can be self-taught from the textbook. Very kind, helpful, approachable. Likes answering questions.

Her notes were amazing and she explained the concepts well. The only bad thing was she answered every single question in full detail. People would ask a question about something that she just went over and that they could find the answer for in her online notes, and she spent 5-10 minutes answering it. This was a huge waste of time.

wonderful. she is so clear in lecture, her notes are amazing, i never had to open the text book or really study once and i did wonderfully overall in the course.

She is a great professor. If you attend class and fill in her notes, there is no need for the text. Tests are moderately difficult but she is very helpful in terms of answering questions.

Now that she had implemented written on the midterms and finals, this will be somewhat brutal. Lab exams are only brutal because you have to be precise in that it matches near to exact what the answer key says or else the freaking TA will NOT give you full marks. Since it's Bio, you can convey the same mssge in many ways and that's the problem

She has awesome notes and is amazing at explaining everything. She is great at taking a step back and re-explaining things to make sure everyone understands. She is a great prof to have.

I seriously thought she was an old boring lady, and I thought I would sleep in her class everyday. her voice isn't very enthusiastic. But after the midterm which i didn't do well on, I decided to kick it into high gear and pay attention. I realized she's an AMAZING prof that always wants her kids to do well. I like her now =)

Awesome Awesome Professor. She has really clear notes in class and is really into making sure everyone does well on the exam. Makes sure you have lots of references and practice problems for the midterm. The midterm was reasonably hard but if you studied you were fine. Gives you guidlines for studying. Super awesome for first year.

Awesome class. Crystal clear expectations on what to know, great study guildlines and notes. Read the textbook still, but only 1-2 points would need to be added. I wish she told more higher level science courses, would make getting high marks so much easier. :)

Good prof, communicates material well but be prepared to work hard! Midterm & lab components were brutal, as was the grading scale. Give it a skip if your GPA matters to you.

Dr. Addy is famous for her awesome lecture notes. She writes everything that she says during lecture, so you don't have to worry about missing what she said. Lecture notes & labs make up 90% of tests. Read the textbook because she does test on it (10%), but don't make it a priority. Getting an A+ is not hard. Best Bio prof at U of C hands down.

Dr. Addy is an amazing professor. I had her for both BIOL 231 & 233 and was thoroughly impressed with her teaching. Her note templates are crystal clear and she explains the concepts perfectly.She does an excellent job of preparing students for exams/future courses. Her exams are challenging but very fair. Thank you so much Dr Addy for everything!

Very good prof. Has lots of clicker questions and they help with understanding of the material. The course has lots of material, however the final exam isn't cumulative so it's not too horrible. Never went for help but she seems approachable and she answers questions very well in class.

Amazing Prof! Somebody who genuinely cares about making sure people due well! She also makes classes interesting with use of clickers and videos, expressing enthusiasm with the topic! Potentially the best prof ever, notes are amazing!

AWESOME!! Very clear, keeps control of a class of 300. Lots of clicker quests, movies, had an extra midterm review class, is sure to answer all questions. Very knowledgable and is a great public speaker - easy to listen to. Must attend class, lots of notes and diagrams that are great for test review. But you do have to put the work in to do well.

Amazing. She has a gift for teaching. Course covers a lot so take good notes; PowerPoint lecture outlines are very good. Labs are useful for learning lecture materials but take good notes as lab material is tested. Tests are fair; give detailed answers. Lots of terminology but you can kep on top of it reasonably well as long as you go to class

Amazing teacher! She made me actually want to go to that class :) Her notes, style of teaching, enthusiasm and occasional jokes made me not only love bio but ace it too.

Great professor! Her notes were very inclusive apart from a few definitions - easily found from the textbook. Any questions are answered very clearly Professor Addy knows the material very well.

I had Addy for both 231 and 233 and she was exeptional in both courses. She puts a lot of effort into providing extra information and showing videos about certain topics to reinforce the course materials. Her exams are quite similar to her clicker questions, where the wording may trick you so just read carefully and you'll be fine

There is a good reason why she won a teaching award. If you are lucky enough to have this prof, cherish it because she is possibly the best prof at U of C.

This Professor is gifted. She is extremely fair and if you work hard you will succeed in her classes. I couldn't recommend her enough. In my 4 years on campus I have never had a better professor.

Good prof for the most part. Really cares and is willing to take time with you. However the lab component is brutal for marking and be prepared to get marked hard. As well found the 2nd mid-term to be slightly challenging!

Fair prof, engaging and clear. Knows her stuff and teaches well. Not quite on par with Huddleston, but still a great teacher in her own right! Worth going to class, she assigns some readings but you're never smothered in work. Recommended!

Dr. Heather Addy was the best Professor I had at the U of C! Her notes are extremely organized, and she leaves blanks for you to fill in during class, so it's super easy to pay attention! She is extremely helpful! I definitely recommend her! I did not use the book much. Very clear, kind, and helpful.

I can't emphasize just how great a prof Dr. Addy is! Seriously! Super approachable, very clear and just an overall awesome individual! Without a doubt the best prof I've had in my 4 years at UofC. Deserves a teaching award! The textbook is expensive and just not necessary with Addy.

Best prof I had this semester! Her lectures are very informative, she answers questions, and she really seems to care about the students and how they do, despite it being one of the largest class sizes on campus. Textbook readings are mandatory as there are weekly quizzes. Overall, I cannot recommend her lecture enough.

Great prof!! Super helpful! Always responded to emails politely and promptly! Very thorough lectures, however she hates anyone who talks during them. Course isn't that easy but I'm sure I would have done much worse not having her. Recommend!

She is honestly the most amazing professor ever! She's very approachable for help, and replies to her emails super fast! The longest it has taken her to reply to one of my emails is 1 hour, and fastest is 2-3 minutes! :) The only reason someone will do bad is because they don't do the required readings on time or procrastinate.

Great prof! Her lecture notes are very clear and well-organized and if you read the textbook readings you will do VERY well. Dr. Addy goes through topics slowly and will go back to things if students are struggling. Such a caring prof!!

Addy was a great prof! Wrote quickly, but it's possible to keep up if you come to class prepared. Would easily take another one of her classes again. One-on-one she is very patient and very knowledgable!

Awesome prof, she really knows her stuff about plants and wants to make sure all the students do too. Her test was tough but fair. There was no textbook as it is a higher level course where there isn't a textbook that covers all the material, but she provides a few really useful papers that help with understanding her material.

I loved this class! Dr. Addy is amazing. She is trying something new with group work though out the term and it was so much fun! She really takes the time to explain concepts to you that you don't understand and takes feedback very seriously. Definitely recommend this class for science majors who need a science option

She has changed the format for this course, I just did not enjoy this format at all. The group work every class (not everyone in your group is enjoyable), quizzes, reading guides and the VERY ambiguous labs (designed so that you HAD to ask the TA for answers, not in textbook, or on google). I also felt as though I didn't learn as much as I wanted

Dr. Addy was an amazing professor to have. Compared to other biology courses she tries to engage the class more than simply having lectures in class. While there may be more work involved (e.g. quizzes in class) her engagement helps make the material easier to learn.

Dr Addy is one of my favourite profs I have taken a biology course with. She is super helpful, and nice. Her tests correspond with the lecture material and if you put in effort you can do well. She is a nice person :)

It's clear that she really cares about her students and their learning. She is a lovely person and is very approachable if clarification is needed. Student concerns were discussed and addressed with understanding and compassion. Would highly recommend her for any course. She truly cares about the content and genuinely wants students to do well.

Amazing prof, did her best to make sure everyone understood. Best prof in my whole bio degree. Still not an 'easy A', lots of homework+ readings. Tests mostly written and sometimes marked kind of harsh. Still great prof. Lots of group work so depends on group you get too.

This class was not an easy A but Dr. Addy is a true gem! She is kind, respectful and is understanding and helps you out to make sure everyone does well. She listens to feedback quite well. She is an amazing lecturer and does her best to be engaging. Team work may not be for everyone but not her fault, good balance between team work and lecture.

Dr. Addy is such an amazing professor and one of the kindest people you'll come across. She is will do her best to help you and make accommodations. Took 453 and 435 with her and they aren't easy. Require lots of work and are usually application questions but keep on top of things and you'll be fine. Grade didn't depend on the group at all.

Great prof!! Understands that you have other classes and really tries to be accommodating of that! Does have a lot of assignments but she gives you great feedback and lets you resubmit 4 if you don't pass on your first go. Great courses overall :)

Dr. Addy is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. She really cares about how you do in the course and is extremely approachable. The team-based learning helped you master the content, so don't be afraid of it! Her grading system also allows you to acheive a grade that suits your preference. If you choose to get an A, get ready to work!

My favourite prof in my entire degree. Genuinely caring, gives you 5 free passes to hand in assignments late, grade based on the amount of work you put in. Groupwork is fine- it's just short answer questions in class so as long as YOU know what you're talking about, it shouldn't matter if nobody else in your group does. I cannot praise her enough

Really great class structure! As long as you put in the effort and LISTEN to what her feedback tells you, you'll do well in class.

Honestly Dr. Addy's courses are NOT a walk in the park. She asks a lot of her students. Written answers on tests, plentiful assignments, and a large project are some things you can expect. That being said, she gives just as much-if not far more-than she asks. She is a wonderful instructor, I've learned more from her courses than anyone else's.

A cool/fun class (F19), but the format took some getting used to. Dr. Addy is very caring; always willing to negotiate term work. She cares about her students and sets them up for success. Lots of group work/assignments, specs grading, lab exams but no final. The pass/fail specs grading can be discouraging, but feedback was great. Learned a lot. :)

Dr. Addy is the best prof I've had throughout my entire degree! She genuinely cares so much about her students and their success, and it's evidenced by how approachable and attentive she is when you reach out for help in a fairly large class. She makes it such that you can actually achieve the marks that you strive for.

Dr. Addy is a GREAT professor that takes a new approach to learning. If you're open to actually using your team as a helpful resource and you're organized, you'll do really well in her classes.

Honestly made me feel like an actual student who had a teacher who cared about me. She's an incredibly sweet and caring woman, she's very clear about the work you need to put in and if you do that you can easily get an A. That being said she's very flexible if something goes wrong.

Dr. Addy was very flexible with the online format! Looked for student input and changed her grading and updated the class very quickly with changes to make our work easier. She follows specs grading, but it was pretty good and easy if you are on top of it. I hope your lab group is good since there are weekly labs and discussions.

One of the best bio profs I've had in my entire uni career. She's very caring and gives feedback really quickly and is very flexible. She really takes in student input and applies it. Uses specs grading but it is very easy to get the mark that you want if you go and ask her what she expects from you and also gives you chances to improve.

Dr. Addy was super generous with the assignment due dates, and always gave the class flexible deadlines.

Best professor ever! Awesome at instructing and a very caring individual.
