nice sweet teacher a little confusing..dont buy the book its a waste...take notes cause all her test ? come from them...be there she takes pts off if your not...1 paper/presentation...tests a bit hard for 100 level course

As long as you pay attention during the lectures and take notes there is no way you can fail. As far as the paper, it was moderately difficult, but she gives you a chance to hand it in early and she will look it over.

This teacher is very enthusiastic and really knows her stuff. She is very organized and easy to understand. Her class is not a breeze, but it's definitely fair.

Professor Barry is a great history teacher. I learned more in her class than in any of my other classes. She is very fair and makes sure that everyone understands the material before she moves on. I recommend this class.

Professor Barry is the best educator that the world has to offer. Her guidance and wisdom (that has been established obviously far beyond her years) has shown me the way to true salvation when regarding academics. She is God and should be treated as such.

took her for american heritage and shes a really nice professor i just found the class a little boring....and there were alot of notes....the essays were alot and you have to do identification on the mid term and finals....that was alot too...

I thought she was a great teacher. Yes, she expects a lot from you, but if you attend all of her classes and review all the identifications for the midterm/final you will do fine!

She gives a lot of work, but in the long run it's worthwhile to take the class. If you get familiar with her, she'll go out of her way to help you.

Good teacher Took her for Amer His level 100 you would think it was a 300. Alot of reading and notes but keep up and it is a easy B. Fall behind your screwed She is nice though the paper is ruff and you will never look at multi choose the same again !

Dr. Barry is great. She is fair, knows her subjects inside and out and doesnt pull any suprises on tests. Anyone who has a problem with her obiously can not handle college level work- she treats her students like adults-if you cant handle that go back to Suffolk.

She's an awesome teacher! Just be sure to read over and study your notes and do the papers. The class then will be a breeze. And a hint, hand the papers in early so you can rewrite them for better grades.

Treats all her classes as though they were second year grad school classes. Needs to ease up a little. Very fast paced and we don't all learn, listen and write at the same pace. Very smart and knowledgeable...nice person...but slow it down

By far, the most knowledgable and helpful professor I've had at the college level. Like anything else, you get out of this class what you put into it. There is a considerable amount of work, but Dr. Barry does not assign anything that doesn't serve a purpose. Give her a chance. If I have the opportunity to take her again, I will! Just do the work:)

she is a very nice and knowledgable. There is a thesis paper, a midterm, 1 mult choice quiz, and the final. In addition she asks you to write about reading assignments at the beginning of class, not a problem if youve read the intro and conclusion. Hard grader on the paper take advantage of her academic center deal so you can rewrite it.

Took her for American Heritage I, she was amazing. Probably the best SJC professor I've had so far. Funny, smart, easy to listen to, and very straightforward. There is alot of reading involved and a research paper, but it's not too difficult. Take her, and most likely you'll love her.

Wonderful professor, very helpful. You have to actually be willing to do work, and if your not than don't take her. She lectures for the entire class, but she isn't boring. You will be taking pages and pages of notes. She tells you exactly what the essays are for the midterm and final way beforehand. Homework and research paper as well, loved her!

She is the best professor ever! One of my favorites. A lot of work for a 100 level class, but it is all worth it!If you dont want to do a lot of work do not take her, but yet again why are you in college? Overall, I actually left her class with knowledge of American History!

I have taken 2 online classes with Professor Barry and she is great. You actually learn the material because she chooses great textbooks and asks good questions. Plus, she has no desire to torture you because you take an online class, she just wants you to learn the material. Genius.

She's a nice woman & is very passionate about her field but her class isn't easy. I do like her but had a difficult time. If youre on top of your work then i recommend her. If you aren't a history major & tend to fall behind (like me) then try to research some of the other history professors before taking her class. Not a bad teacher at all though.

Wonderful teacher. She truly loves her history. Grades fairly on the semester reserach paper. Make sure your homework are comprehensive otherwise she will give you a B. I learned a lot and she is willing to help you.

ok not gunna lie shes tough!! she knows her stuff and doesnt mess around.. she gives u exactly what she wants in her syllabus. lectures aren't bad at all. Its a 400 class come on..ABLE TO REVISE PAPER!!! a lot of info but shes great just email her for help she gets ryt back to you.

Professor Barry is one of the nicest professors that I have ever had! She extremly loves history and makes you like it as well, I always hated history and she got me really into it. She is an average grader not to tough but not to easy, she is one of my favorite that I have had at St. Joes and I hope to have her again sometime again!

i took american heritage with her my first semester of st. joes. she is nice and trys to make conversation interesting, but she is an extremely harsh grader when it comes to her term paper.. u cant use any internet sources. you get ten hw assignments and you have to write at least a page on each one to get an a. i'd take an easier teacher

I usually hate American History but I enjoyed it this year. The class is pretty easy and the only though thing is the research paper but it is only 4 to 5 pages so it is easy. She explains history well and helps connect the dots. RECOMMEND

American Revoultion. I admit, she's a sweet lady and enthusiastic about her subject. HOWEVER, there are some striking flaws. The first is that we spent an entire 1.5 hour class on plagerism, something that should take 15 min at most. Second, it's very textbook heavy with mostly discussion. I appreciate that, but you have to at least teach some.

She is a good teacher in my opinion. She's very nice, but she is an extremely hard grader. You really need to know your info to get a good grade on her homeworks and research paper. It's not the worst class, but you need to really be into history to do really well.

Keep track of your grades, blackboard grades sometimes are off by a lot. The term paper is really annoying to write -- she spends probably five weeks of class time on it. And spends 2-3 weeks of class on the actual curriculum.

i absolutely loved mrs. barry! she is such a sweetheart and is always willing to answer your questions. she gave us the essay question for both the midterm and the final so we could plan it out beforehand. she is always so bubbly and makes the class really interesting (thats coming from someone who doesn't like history) i definitely recommend her!

Professor Barry is great. I have her now for the online History of Southern Africa class. She is so helpful and lays out the entire course for you. She is a tough grader, but the work isnt too bad. Definetly take her if you can for an online class - she's one of the easiest teachers I've had for them!

Dr. Barry is my favorite professor I've ever had at St. Joe's. For us history majors, historiography is one of the hardest classes we have to take, and she presented the material in such a great way that made the information easier to grasp. The concepts are so out there, and I learned more in her class than any other history class. TAKE HER!

This was one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. I don't usually have to spend more than an hour studying for an A or A-, this class was an exception. She is fair, there is plenty of review for the midterm and final, and she gives you the opportunity to rewrite your final paper. There is an oral presentation, don't take it lightly.

I graduated in 2006; Dr. Barry is a great professor and role model. I took several of her classes and earned A's, however, I kept earning only an A- on the final paper. I really wanted to prove to myself that I could earn an A paper from her, so I kept taking her classes until I earned that A paper. I'm a better writer because of her.

Our class is immaturely professional and she goes along with it. Love the class, she just gives a lot of work and it can suck at times.

Dr. Barry is an excellent educator, she has a PhD. Shes going to make you work for your grade big time though. Historiography is challenging but Dr Barry makes it interesting and is really laid back we always have good rapport in her class and discuss many things not related to the material at times. I took her for online His 101. I did very well in her class. No tests, 2 papers, and a bunch of online discussions. As long as you follow her directions and do the work on time, you will excel in her class. I highly recommend. She's super nice, answers emails very quickly. If I had another History class to take, I'd definitely take it with her.

Professor Barry did a great job at making the material understandable and without being boring. Very nice and is always willing to help. Test's aren't too bad- she gives you the material and what you need for the essay portion. HARD GRADER ON PAPERS!!

Excellent professor. She is extremely approachable & shows deep care towards the success of her students. Through her extremely helpful review sessions, permittance to rewrite the paper, & interactive lectures she goes the extra mile to ensure her students perform to their highest potential. An A is 100% achievable if you put in the time & effort.

I would definitely recommend prof Barry. Her lectures were very interesting. The homework was a fair amount, but she graded them somewhat harshly as well as your papers. Very caring and understandable, if she sees you making an effort if you are not doing well she will automatically help you to pass. Always answers emails right away and is always willing to help you if you need it. Super sweet and easy to talk to. One presentation a bunch of blackboard mini assignments mid-term final and a paper. I took Professor Barry's online class, The Non-Western World. It was fast paced, but it is to be expected as it is only an eight week course. The class is very easy to pass if you put in the work and do the weekly online discussions. She is very nice and answers emails quickly.

I had her for my online class, and she is SO helpful. She must keep her phone on her at all times because it never took long to hear back from her. It was a late start course, but the work wasn't overwhelming. She was really nice and understanding that we all had lives outside of our classes, which was so helpful.

She is a sweet lady however for an online class she's tough. Weekly assignments on the textbook reading which are always long but you can usually google the info or watch a youtube video on it, weekly discussions and its close to impossible to get a 10/10. Two 6 page essays throughout the course, no tests though, overall, not a terrible class.

Professor Barry is absolutely amazing. Dont listen to the other comments because yes she gives out a decent amount of work but she shows so much compassion and if you actually try you will be fine. If you are lazy you will probably fail along with the people who gave her bad reviews but if you do have a brain, you will do fine.

So for starters Professor Barry grades hard.I took Professor Barry my first semester and I was being lazy when it came to school work. I did not complete the main paper nor the presentation and still passed the class. I got a 90 on the final but that wouldn't of been enough. I am guessing she felt bad and let me pass for credit which I am grateful.
