she is an awesome teacher! she may assign a bunch of work at one point but the things she assigns are fairly easy. she is one of my favorite english teachers EVER! she is funny and always has a story to tell about her family.

Ms Benes was an awesome teacher! As long as you do the work and follow directions you'll get a fair grade. If you're in her 1A class you'll do about an essay a week, but they're only 2 pages or so, and as long as you follow the proper format for references and such you don't even have to be all that great at writing.

Great class. She challenges students of all levels and gives excellent instruction on how to write an academic essay. It is a little demanding with about one essay per week. She is very passionate about what she teaches and likes to talk about hot button issues. I definitely recommend.

Benes assigns an abundant's amount of homework to the class. However, she has a superb passion for English and her students. You will learn a lot about her family and all about the rules of M.L.A. She also has a terrific sense of humor! Because of her, she has helped me out tremendously with my writing! Essay's in my other classes are A's!

This class would have been a lot better if it was not full of idiots. She could have taught to her full potential. She makes the assignments CRYSTAL clear. There were only two tests and no final. You just had to discuss your success in her class with her. She was a good LIFE teacher; although her liberal beliefs clearly shine through.

There is a lot of writing, and she grades pretty hard. However, you can always rewrite or attend office hours. Take this class if you want to actually learn.

I took her for Eng 001A in the fall and her Eng 1B course during Winter Intercession. I thought my input would still be valid since I took her a few months ago. She is an amazing professor. Englis 2 is a cool class. Counts for critical thinking course. Benes is fantastic! She turns learning into a life changing adventure. Every one should take her. . . And she CAN teach. Every class is worth going to!

I had her for 1B and I absolutely loved her. I had a tough semester and she was always there and very understanding if I was having a problem finishing my work. Do not take advantage of that because this is a very detail oriented class and you need the book. I never liked poetry and shakespeare until I took this class. She explains things so well.

Benes will teach how easy to type up and essay and what goes into it. In addition ,she will also teach you what is not allowed in an essay. She ishilarious and has some funny stories. If you can't handle foul language then I would not recommend taking her for Eng 061.

This is a fast winter session class, but OMG. Every day I learned something! Terms, analysis, papers, projects. Benes really did pack 16 weeks into 16 days. By week 2, she knew every single students' name and though she keeps it real, she's organized and on task. A must take professor! Highly recommended if you want to learn.

English 2 is critical thinking through the study of poerty, fiction, and drama. Benes focuses on art appreciation, analysis and arguement, and literary cultural criticism. She is fair and fun both with assignments and projects. Students respect the heck out of her as she is on call and really cares about student success, academically and in life.

The best Kick ass professor you could ask for. Pretty easy going gives you time to complete work. Everyone learns at their own pace and she honors that. She makes a boring course FUN!

Professor Benes is a very good professor. I loved her. I highly recommend taking her, I learned a lot from her.

Best professor I have had in college. She teaches structure of English and it will help you all the way through college. She is as real as it gets and truly cares about the students. Once you learn the structure, the class is easy as can be. Their isn't any other English professor i'd rather have.

She is very motivating, inspiring, hilarious and really cares for her students but as for teaching... didn't learn anything and was not prepared for English 1A. You will pass that is certain but students don't even show up half the time plus she cancels a lot

Benes is real. She cares. She's over the top knowledgeable about her subject matter. Just Finished Eng 2. On the last day students stood in a line to personally say goodbye and thank her. I've never seen or experienced anything like it. By far the best professor at COD!

Benes is probably the best teacher I have ever had. She is a real teacher who cares, goes the extra mile, and makes sure her students do well. The homework load is challenging at times, but she gives plenty of time to complete it. The final is intense and I wish you luck! I would take Benes over and over again if I had the opportunity!

She talks a lot about her personal life but only because she is trying to incorporate it with the lesson. Also, I love the b contract. That doesnt mean you do minimum work. You still have to work for it. Absolutely amazing instructor.

She is HILARIOUS and tells some pretty great stories. The work load was easy until she started throwing multiple essays at us. Im a good writer but she told me I had the possibility of not passing because my attendance wasnt great. So show up. She does care A LOT & will go the extra mile if you communicate with her & show that you care as well.

Out of all my English Professor I have found Heather to be a amazing Professor, she is someone who tries her best to relate to her students. Whether if your having a bad day or problem she always there to help you out, she also gives many chances to her students unlike other professors.

Professor Benes influenced profoundly throughout the semester. Although, this is an English class, be prepared to learn more than just grammar. Benes is flexible, understanding, and passionate. People who did not like this class were usually the lazy ones. Nothing is for free, she will make you work for that A! I am taking 2A for sure.

This was my first college class after a hiatus of 25 years from stepping into a classroom. Wow, was I lucky to have randomly chose her as my professor. She is nothing short of amazing. Overall quality 4.7 is really a 5.0, but do not expect an easy A. Unanimously the best teacher I've ever had. Inspires & grows students' towards success, for both academic & life goals. Entertaining anecdotes relating to the lecture's topic. Comma rules and essay formatting are taught extremely well, resulting in easy comprehension and retention.

Professor Benes has changed my life for the better. I took her English 001A and 035 and I can honestly say I am better person because of it. Her lectures are engaging and really makes you think. She has this way of making ANY subject interesting . She assigns a lot of reading/homework but it doesn't feel like it. I recommend ANY course she teaches

This is my second course with Benes, and I have already chosen to take her during the winter and spring. If you participate, you will find that she makes it extremely comfortable to express yourself and become confident using your inner voice.

She's by far the most inspirational professor I've ever had. I took her for winter session (Enlgish 1B), and yes it will be a lot of reading and a lot of writing but you learn so much along the way. Don't think twice about taking a class with her, seriously, you'll regret it if you do!

Learned a lot in her class, would definitely take her class again. When she tells you to read or study, DO IT!! she will eventually test you on it. attendance is important as she gives a lot of information during each class session.

If you want to learn something, TAKE BENES! I learned more in her class than I ever did in my four years of high school. If you are expecting an easy A, this is not the class for you. Benes will make you work for that A, and youll be a better student because of it. She cares deeply for her students, so if youre struggling, ask for help :)

Easy class and very helpful professor! Sometimes she assigns a lot of homework but very easy. One of the most caring professors Iv'e ever had! She actually makes lectures fun and can be hilarious. Makes learning very interesting and enjoyable.

I took professor benes back in 2014. She was very assertive and expected you to triangulate/peer reviews rough drafts. Also expected you to identify fallacies. This is very important when wanting to spot concrete fact-based arguments. It was a half decade ago but she deserves a good rating and helped with English 2a

If you put effort into all the assignments that she gives you and show that you're participating in class, you will pass! She is a professor that you will never forget; I promise you.

I had Professor Benes my first semester of college in 2019, but she was an inspiring teacher that makes you think a lot even after class ends. There is a crazy amount of work, but gives you a template that helps a lot. She is very caring and is a great story teller. However the final paper is a 20 paragraph research paper and is half your grade

I took her during the pandemic she was really helpful and understanding shes really easy to contact outside of class she responds really quick and gives study guides on how she would like the essays if you just follow the packets you will definitely get a good grade in her class She doesnt mind A lot of questions and her Instructions are clear

Professor Benes is wonderful. She did an amazing job working through this pandemic. Very understanding, gives feedback on all assignments, and interesting lessons. Her class is quite demanding, but it is duable just figure out a schedule.

Professor Benes gives fun and interesting lectures!! Transitioning to online classes was tough on everyone, but she did so well with keeping us motivated. Her assignments and projects are genuinely interesting and I've learned so much thanks to her. Can be a tough grader at times, but overall pretty reasonable. Highly recommend!!

If you do your work and participate you will do very well, she gives you time to turn in late work. Writing process of essays was a little tough but if you had a hard time, reach out to her and she helps you understand and get through the process with ease.
