She is a nice person, but a VERY asinine grader. She also assigns a ton of homework. We're talking at least 10 hours a week of studying to get a good grade in this class. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're very interested in Biology.

No offense or anything, but science is suppose to be hard. If you went to the u of m, it would be ten times harder. she is a very fair teacher

I disagree completely I think shwe is funny and witty but somewhat of a self admitted science geek. Everything she expects is talked about in the lectures and if it unclear she will explain things better in a positive way. Great teacher. IMO!

Heather made the class interesting. Her class is easy compared to other Bio. teachers. I like how she's really passionate about her field. I think it helps if you are going into a biology field. If you ask her to write you a letter of recommendation, she's usually more than happy to. I really enjoyed this class with her.

I have taken Heather for three classes and I think she is one of the best teachers at Inverhills. I would take her for 10 more. She knows her stuff and her passion is evident everytime she teaches!

Very easy online classes

Heather is a good teacher who cares about her subject and her students. She always has time to clarify. I think some people don't like her because the material itself is sometimes a lot, but she is a good teacher. Make sure you get her notes from the bookstore and fill them out during class. If you know those you will ace the tests!

She is an great teacher! She makes the complex material much easier to understand with all the visual aids she uses! She explains things very well and the tests are all reflections of what we have already learned in class! BUT YOU HAVE TO BE IN CLASS! If you like to skip once and a while, forget passing. You gotta be there to learn the material.

Heather was a great teacher! She was extremely helpful in and outside of class. She was always available in her office when you have questions. She is also a very fair teacher. If you write notes on your slides, write in your lecture guide, and ask questions you will succeed in this class. She was also very passionate in her teaching of this class.

This was my second time taking a biology class. She was very thorough and explained everything. If you had questions, she would answer. Tests and quizzes are off of material in lecture. If you listen, you will learn. She kept it interesting.Would definately take a class with her again.

I really enjoyed her online class Biology of Women, however there was some inconsistancies with grading. The class starts out easy enough but gets harder and less clear towards the end of the semester. Be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to the class midway through.

I think it is strange that others expect science classes to be easy. I had NO problems with this instructor. She was very helpful and available and made the material fun and interesting. If you expect to earn a degree from a four year university this class will help prepare you for the workload and expectations of instructors.

Fair and kind she is very likable

I took the 5 week summer course (lecture/lab). It has a fairly heavy online component. Once you figure out where she puts everything online the class is much less stressful. She's got a decent sense of humor and is very helpful as long as you come to her.

Heather is a really great teacher. I took exploring biology and it was a really tough course for me but Heather was very helpful and made the material relate to the world as much as you can. I would take another class from her if I needed any more biology.

This class was so much fun! It was quite a bit of work but as long as you did the work you got a pretty good grade. Heather was very clear in what was expected and was always happy to help you with anything you didn't understand. She also offered a lot extra credit and you got 2 chances at each of the weekly quizzes which was extremely nice!

Heather is an amazing and astounding teacher! If you keep up with the amount and work time required outside of class you will pass. It is difficult material, inverest time in it. She is very reasonable and cares for the success for each student. She sets time aside to help you out, I will be taking another class with her in the future:)Shes awesome

Heather cares about the success of her students. She was available twice a week in a group setting for anyone needing help. She makes a difficult subject interesting! Her willingness to explain and help outside of class made all the difference. She's a wonderful, considerate teacher extending herself to students. Tests were not cumulative.

I took Biology w/Heather, she is an AWESOME professor. She took a difficult class and made it interesting and understandable. The material being taught can be tough but go to lecture/lab,print off the power points and study review guides you'll do well.She is super helpful,always willing to explain things. Heather is great! Print the lecture guides AND Lecture notes - All you will need is there and it covers each chapter in concise and clear way! She does go over every slide very well, energetically and clear. She always had time for questions, plus she held an open hour and office hours! It is a high content course, but she makes it easy and fun!

I myself was never good at sciences in high school, and coming to this class I was very nervous that I was even going to pass. She managed to help me along the way! I looked in the book about once throughout the entire time in the class. Her tests were mainly on the lectures and do the STUDY GUIDES. I came out with a B :)

Works hard and always prepared for class. Her lectures are helpful. On line material is exceptional -- lecture notes, power-points, study guides, assignments. Very accessible -- office hours and common hours. Interested in her students -- learns their names. Tests and grading are fair. She even brought coffee for students to the final. Smart, too.

She loves biology, you can tell when she lectures. She makes them interesting by using real-life examples and showing short videos on youtube. Always willing to help, very thorough explanations for labwork. Will go over things with you more than once if needed. Very patient. Was disappointed I couldn't take more than 2 classes with her.

I totally recomend her, she is the best teacher I've ever taken, I wish she would teach all my biology classes. She have common hours and she makes it easy to understand. TAKE HER YOU WONT REGRET IT

Best teacher I have had at the college level very helpful and gives you the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. Efficient way to get a good grade. Did have to spend extra money on any textbooks! Put all pages into a understandable powerpoint online.

Loved this teacher! She provides many ways for you to get help: gives study guides that aren't due, but are there for your benefit, provides common hours after class, is flexible with 101 time, and best of all she has lecture guides that explain the material. This made it super easy, and this is coming from a student who failed college bio once!

heather is amazing professor. her lecture is clear comprehendible. she has study guide and lecture guide which helps for exam. if any one read her lecture and do the study guide will do good inn her class. she takes time to review what we learn for exam. also, she is always offer help for students and have common hours for extra support.

Heather is awesome! She provides a very high quality of instruction and so much support. She works hard, shows up early, and grades tests quickly! Her class great example of how awesome community college can be. I will fight any university that challenges these biology credits because I so highly value the education I received from Heather.

Be sure to take ORGANIZED notes during lecture and on the study guides. lecture guides are helpful, but sometimes too overwhelming & wordy. However, Heather is amazing! She is always available to talk, and explain things over and over again.

I've taken a couple of courses with Heather and she's awesome. Print her powerpoints and study guides before she starts a topic. She plays a lot of funny youtube videos when she can which is always a nice change of pace. Her tests line up with the study guides really well. The guides can be tough, but worth it for your tests. She's really great!

Professor Brient-Johnson is simply amazing. While the subject matter is definitely challenging, she goes out of her way to help anyone who is having difficulty grasping the material. Her lectures are wonderful. Keeps your attention from beginning to end. Would take her again in a heartbeat!

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CLASS OR THIS INSTRUCTOR TO ANYONE. BIOLOGY IS NOT NEEDED TO TAKE THIS CLASS BUT I WOULD RECOMMEND IT. IF YOU READ THE LECTURE AND COMPLETE THE STUDY GUIDES, YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE TESTS. ATTENDING LAB IS A MUST SINCE THE CLASS IS HYBRID.

This is one of the easier classes I've taken but it does require effort on your part. She gives out a power point, lecture guide, and study guide to print off for every subject that you cover which are all extremely helpful and as long as you use them you will do good on the exams, but this makes the $200 textbook I bought basically worthless.

Good teacher

If you're taking a bio class take it with Heather! She is very passionate about this subject and is a master professor at teaching it. Always print out guides before class to follow and complete them during lecture. Has great open study hours and is available easily through email or after class. Lab is easy but the subject is not easy to learn.

Heather was is very approachable and will help you if you are struggling. I feel like I always had alot todo for this class in order for me to prep the exams. Her exams her alot of trick questions to it so be ready to study. Her lectures seemed very inspiring. Her mastering biology assignments and textbook were really confusing and disorganized tho

By far my favorite professor in all of my college career. She is determined to help you understand the material & contact of the class. She does not tolerate slacking or skimping/cutting corners to come up with answers. She respects your privacy but requires attention in lectures/classes. She is very Intelligent, caring, & always willing to help!

Best teacher I have ever had. She is willing to help you and is very supportive. She is always making sure people understand content and modifies teaching techniques to best fit the class. I highly recommend having her as a professor. Heather is one of the best teachers at this school! Work hard & you will pass!!

I loved taking Intro to Bio with Heather! She's so funny and engaging, I had no trouble paying attention (as someone with attention problems, that's saying something)! Her lectures are so informative that I would say the textbook is unnecessary if it weren't for the Reading Activities that you need the book for. I highly recommend taking her class!

After having to withdraw from my completely online class with another professor i was nervous to take Bio again. To my surprise the hybrid class with Heather was not as bad as the 180 page power point , teach yourself online class i withdrew from. Heather is patient and always willing to explain things 1:1 if you are struggling. Great teacher.

I love her class. I 100% recommend taking her class. Weekly quizzes are 10 questions with a 15 minute time limit. Do the study guides, read the book and use learn smart and you will be fine!

Heather is really nice. If you didn't do that well on the assignment she gives you feedback and allows resubmissions. The course wasn't hard, as long as you watch her lectures, take notes, and do the study guides. We were graded on weekly quizzes, labs, and a few assignments including a group project. 10/10 reccomend

Wasnt an easy class for me, but I worked hard and stayed in communication with Professor Brient. She is an amazing professor who truly loves what she does and it shows! I would take her class again no doubt! She is excellent with communication any day of the week and wants to see you succeed just as much as you do!

Heather was great! Ive got a D in biology for multiple semesters, it was my problem class of mine. Her organization and clear criteria made easy for me to keep up. She uses video lectures (records them if you miss a class) which are broken up into segments to keep your attention, super beneficial. Doesn't test you on whats not covered.

I took her class last semester mostly online with labs one day each week and it was great. Her lectures were clear and she provides study guides for each chapter and doesn't stray from them on the tests. So long as you watch all of the lectures and fill in all of the notes you'll get an A. I definitely recommend!

She is such a sweet professor and her teaching is amazing! Class is quite lecture heavy but she is willing to always help, and honestly it can be long at times but overall enjoyed her class.

She is clearly passionate about what she does and cares a lot about the success of her students. I enjoyed lab with her. Also, she does not stray away from the study guides. The study guides are a lot of work, but if you do them then you can do great on every test. Just do the study guides and work hard... take that advice and you'll get an A.

She is incredible. She made me fall in love with Biology! I wouldn't recommend anyone else. She genuinely cares about her students and it comes through in her lectures and feedback. Don't take anyone else!

Loved her teaching style. Labs were very engaging and exams where not too hard. She had study guides for each chapter and exams were based off of them. All quizes were online and multiple choice. Exams were also multiple choice.

Loved Heather! Class was pretty difficult but this was expected. She gives study guides and has videos of each topic which were EXTREMELY helpful. She took points off my labs after checking them, which made no sense but had extra credit opportunities. She is an intense professor but in the best way possible. Approachable and always wanting to help.

Heather is great! She gives you a study guide for the unit and all the lecture content you need to fill it out. If it's on the test, it's in the study guide somewhere. You can use your study guides on the test.
