Made writing fun. You can write your papers on any topic you want, not something that someone else picks. She wants you to do well and will help in any way she can. Speak up in class, she loves that.

TAKE HER!!! She makes you want to learn. Class is interesting and papers are not bad at all.. When everyone else is slaving on there boring 12 page papers, you'll get to write about stuff that interests you and papers are never longer than 4 pages.

Best English Prof. EVER. She'll read over all your papers before you turn them in! She's not too far out of college herself, so she relates to students really well.

Not too big on writing, but she keeps it interesting. Go to class, write the papers, and don't get behind on the journals. She's definitely willing to help and NEVER criticizes. So nice. No tests and cancels or shortens nearly every class. Made a B+. Not to shabby for hating writing. Take it!

Shes a real nice person but there's tons of work. She also grades papers inconsistantly. Whenever I turned in a paper, there was an equal chance I'd get an A or C. It seemed that she graded papers sort of randomly. But shes nice.

Great writing professor, extremely nice, and helpful with papers. She is very approachable, down to earth, and generally very great to get along with. I enjoyed taking her class, as well as some of the things we got to discuss about society, arguments, etc. that generally went beyond the class reqs.

The best prof. I've had at JMU. She's such a sweet person, easy to talk to and very approachable. She likes to help her students in any way she can. Great class, take it even if you've never written a poem, cause by the end you'll feel like a poet!

Everything I hoped for in a college prof... Comfort is an amazing teacher and goes out of her way to help you. The readings are really interesting and the discusions in class help you understand the readings even better. this class helps you not only become a better writer, but it also makes you look and think about everything in a whole new light.

excellent gwrit professor. she didn't lecture, we had discussions which made class so much better to go to. a few papers, but were broad and fairly easy to write. go to class, read the readings and do your journals and you'll be fine. VERY NICE and WANTS you to do well. highly recommend

overall a decent professor her classes are rather bland we sit in circles and discuss topic but no one participates, she grades accordign to what she thinks your abilities are

Classes, especially tues/thurs can seem to last a while but she cancels class often and has only kept us the full length of time maybe 3 times this semester. She grades based on your ability. She reads handouts word for word which can be somewhat insulting because you should know how to read by now but better class than others. Only THREE papers

Extremely easy class. 3 Essays that can be done in a couple hours each. Read her assignments though as she has daily class discussions and grades on your participation. Say a few words, write a couple essays and you got an A. No final exam, this woman is very nice and very helpful and clear. Wouldnt suggest for aspiring writers, but if u hate GENED

I LOVE Miss. Comfort. This is the best class I've had so far. She has wonderful insight on things and really teaches you a lot. 3 essays, no final, a really fun class and probably the sweetest woman I have ever met in my life, TAKE HER!

Do the reading, participate, and write good papers and this class is easy. She is so cool and open to all interpretations of the readings. She is young and so nice. She get you really thinking and I never felt like the class was a bother. It was such a good class.

She's a cutie and the class is pretty easy. Do your work and go to class, you get a week off like every 2 weeks so you have time to read and do the essays. Easy B if you have any work ethic at all

She's such a nice lady- a little quirky, but nice. Essays only, no tests. Pop quizzes on readings are possible. Essays are supposed to be a reflection of different writers' styles, which makes it really easy to know what she's looking for. She grades subjectively, so an A is not hard to get.

Great GWRIT class! She is so funny. You read an essay from the book for homework, and during class you discuss it. I enjoyed her class discussions though because she doesn't force you to talk, she just encourages you to. She's always enthusiastic. You get 4 free absenses. 3 essays to write. No tests. She is one of my favorite professors so far!

The easiest class I've taken at JMU. Only 3 essays and and you really only need a basic knowledge of writing papers to do well in this class. Fun, interesting,and easy A.

This professor is inspirational. I truly looked forward to coming to class. I felt like I learned something not because she talked "at" us for an hour, but because she encouraged us to participate & learn on our own. Loves helping students understand the material. If you don't get it at first, don't sweat it. TAKE THE CLASS!

Best professor I've had at JMU so far. I look forward to her class. She is SO open to new ideas, and makes it easy to for students to express ideas. Only used the textbook twice in her class. I'd reccomend splitting the cost of the book with a friend in a different section.

Take Heather no matter what you do. Intelligent, caring, passionate, and always smiling and energetic. I looked forward to this class every week. A great elective for anyone that loves practicing different styles of writing with student feedback. No textbook either, she prints out the readings. One of the best!

LOVE LOVE LOVE HER!! Literally only two papers we have to write and she feeds you what she wants you to say. All classes are discussion, but it's not that bad. She is really relaxed and knows this is a Gen Ed and doesn't expect that much from us. She says the funniest things and just a really great person. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!!!!!!! DO ITTT

If you ever have to take a WRTC class, and she's one of the professors teaching, TAKE HER! She's so wonderfully passionate and engaged with the material and she loves interacting with her students. If you're in the class just for an easy A and no homework, don't take her. If you care about the subject about learning, take her. She's awesomesauce.

Professor Comfort is great! She's very down to earth and willing to help you. Her classes are pretty informal and consist of a lot of article reading then class discussions. You also have one large project but you basically get to pick whatever interests you because she wants you to enjoy doing the work for it. Definitely take her!

She's an awesome and its more of a philosophy class than a writing class. Super nice and really fun to have a conversation with. Classes are funny and she's a great person. Love going to her office hours just to talk.

We only had two papers and they honestly were not that painful to write-they were so different than any other paper Ive ever written that it made it enjoyable; plus you have tons of time to write them. There are no wrong answers in her class & her passion is admirable. Cancels class frequently!

This class is very little work. There is reading for homework which she gives open book quizzes on occasionally and one final project where you can write about literally anything you want. Shes a little quirky and loves the word "awesome-sauce" but she is really nice and cares that you do well.

Heather's class is so easy. If you are looking for an easy A, take her! There are only two assignments all semester. Very easy GenEd. No final exam.

Professor Comfort is a must take for this class. It was fun and easy. She lets you write about yourself instead of forcing you to write long and dry papers. As long as you do the work it should be an easy A.

I really like Professor Comfort! She is different and her teaching style initially took some getting used to, but I ended up getting a lot out of her class. She is very encouraging, and if you put in the effort, she will as well.

She is a really nice teacher. No quizzes and no tests. You don't read that much and when you do they are really small articles. You will have two weeks off during the writing portfolio time, which is really nice. The writing portfolios are the test grades. As long as you can write a good essay your grades should be good. Attendance mandatory.

She is the most adorable and amazing human being. I am so glad I had her for writing. She helped me switch majors and is all for feedback and one on one. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who asked

Comfort is the best writing teacher I've had in a long time. She is so sweet. We only wrote two essays the whole semester and spent most of the semester workshopping the essays. She takes attendance everyday so be there if you want credit. Also she doesn't assign much homework so do it when she does.

She is so funny and sweet. There are like 3 papers you have to write the entire semester. And there are no quizzes or tests. The papers you write are super easy. And the reading is manageable. You don't even have to do the reading if you don't want to because she doesn't quiz you on it.

Professor Comfort is an all around amazing lady. She is hilarious and super interesting. She cares a lot about what she is teaching. There are a decent amount of essay readings with a discussion about it the next class. Participation is key! Your grade is made up of two papers and participation.

Dr. Comfort is a very nice lady, she's a little bit weird during lecture but she's caring none the less. This course is very easy. As long as you show up to class, do the readings, participate, and complete the writing assingments to the best of your ability then there's really no way you could get less than an A in this course.

Prof Comfort is a goof. Class itself is the most boring hour of my life and you sit in a circle and think critically about a reading. She sometimes takes attendance but it doesn't actually affect your grade. Comfort is an absolute breeze, two grades the entire semester are two papers which she doesn't give anyone less than an 80.

Easiest wrtc professor at jmu. You don't have a textbook, and you only have to write 2 papers. She gives you tons of time to do them. Only 3 grades, the two papers and "participation", as long as you talk once during class you'll be fine. She gives you giant packets to read and discuss during class, but no one reads them and they aren't quizzed on.

I LOVE Professor Comfort; she is a fantastic teacher. We read stories in class and apply it to our essay. We only had two 1250 word essay one at the beginning and one in the end(final exam). She is excellent outside of class for feedback. It was the only gen-ed class I did not have to worry about. EASY A.

theres 2 essays. they are based around reading assignments that are discussed in class. shes so nice and i wasnt ever stressed out in this class. before peer reviews u meet w professor comfort, and she gave me so many ideas! shes an essay grader too but you still have to put effort into ur essays. shes super spunky and nice. i miss her

LOVE HER! During the pandemic she always sent us emails updating us about the class and making us feel safe. Theres 2 essays. Shes an easy grader but loves everyones ideas for their essays and is super supportive. I never stressed in this class, especially during corona when other teachers expected so much of us. Shes the best. Take her!

Professor Comfort is very enthusiastic about the class and the readings. Overall we did not have a single test, just weekly discussion or reflection posts on the readings which are very short. One paper at the end of the semester for the final but it is very personally guided. Easy A.

Dr. Comfort is a solid choice for the gened writing course. She truly cares about her students and is fascinated with the topics we chose to write about. There were no tests or quizzes. She didn't hold class very often and mostly just had us submit work week to week. Overall though, her class really wasn't that hard.

I adore her! She's so funny and genuinely cares for her students. If you're mentally struggling or anything else, tell her and she'll gladly make extensions and accommodations for you! In my course, we had weekly meetings, a personal narrative, TV review essay, and then whatever writing project we wished to make. Super doable under COVID times :)

you have to take this lady. she is sooo sweet and caring. i think we only had a couple of papers and i got a 100 on all of them. shell probably the easiest class ive ever taken. easiest A of your life. take her!!!!

ms. comfort is very nice. she's a little odd, and when she goes over the content it can sometimes seem all over the place, but all the work for the year is some reading assignments in the first 6 weeks than an essay that you can write about anything for the rest of the year. she takes a while to grade, but it is worth it overall.

My favorite professor at this entire school

Professor Comfort had a lot going on this semester and had to cancel a number of classes, but she was extremely clear about our sole assignment and even gave us one-on-ones to help us draft. The grading took a while and didn't display on Canvas, but she was really friendly and made the class relaxed for everyone, even if you're not a great writer.

prof comfort is prolly the nicest prof at jmu and i cant recommend her enough. even tho the entire grade is on one paper she doesnt grade harshly whatsoever, most of these reviews have A's as their final grade because shes a firm believer in everyone has their own style of writing. class is easy and lowk rarely happens but def take her

Comfort is such a nice woman & cares sm about WRTC. We didn't have many grades (1 essay portfolio and a few pop quizzes) & she would post stories for us to analyze instead of requiring a textbook. You have can 6 absences before you're penalized. She wants you to have fun with writing & doesn't expect super quality work from freshmen! take her

Prof. Comfort's WRTC was different from the other WRTC 103 classes my friends were taking. We did readings every week and had discussions on them after. She loves when you participate and it will make your class easier. We only had one grade the entire year and that was the final paper but she makes sure you are very prepared to write it.

Prof. Comfort is the absolute sweetest professor. She is very quirky and is often late to class, but you can tell she wants you to enjoy writing. While she can be a little frustrating in the way she doesn't check her emails often (like never), she is flexible and wants to help you. If you have questions, go to her office hours, she is awesome!

Vey easy class. You basically dont have to attend her classes and you will still come out with an A. As long as you turn in your writings which are very easy.

She changes the deadlines for assignments, barely uses Canvas, and cancels class without telling us. I barely know what's happening or what's due because she always goes off-topic. She was a great first-semester professor as freshman. She was funny, talkative and very understand. She does basically no assignments and the assignments she does are like 3 essays total based on readings that arent diffcult or boring, atleast to me. she takes attendance but doenst dock it off your grade. She also doesnt imput grades in canvas.

Professor Comfort is a great professor. She is very understanding and the class is not hard if you go to class and do your assignments. There is a lot of in class discussion for reading she assigns and if you read them it's easy to participate. She is very willing to help and loves to get to know her students.

Heather is a really nice professor and really cares about her students. She can be organized and talk all over the place but other than that it was a nice course. She asks you to read 1 to multiple readings before every class, they're never too long. Your grade is only based on 3 essays.

The class isn't that hard if you do the readings and participate in the discussions. Most of the assignments are participation except for the final essay and drafts at the end of the semester. She did alter the schedule a few times, but the changes were minor. She allows late submissions and is easily accessible after class and in her office.

Really straightforward and easy course. She's really nice and cancels class at least once every two weeks which is pretty lit.

Review for 434- Not too many assignments, a few readings and a couple of film review essays. Super caring and wants you to do well. Professor comfort is very passionate about TV/Film and teaching! She's not the best at communication but is always willing to help if you approach her in Harrison Hall!

Heather Comfort was probably the easiest writing teacher I had by far. Her class is lowk boring but it's so easy. She always cancels class but to be honest it's so clutch. There are two essay that are so easy and as long as you do the assignment you'll be fine.

Save your money and your time and do not take this class if you'd like an actual education. Heather is a very sweet lady but is all over the place. We have had only half of our classes held this semester and half the time she ends 20-30 minutes early. There are very few graded assignments through the class, and you rarely do anything of substance.

Would definitely recommend, such a easy class 2 big essays and that's it, she cancels class a lot, super easy though with little work.

Not sure why so many people are complaining about her. It's legit a writing class and it's very easy. She seems a little wild sometimes but is genuinely a good person. Basically just 2 papers no homework almost. If confused on something she will help you through it. Still don't know why the other comments want a challenging WRTC teacher
