This professor is very organized. Tests were graded on time and available for the next class period. She worked off of handouts which were representative of the chapters in the book. The book was used for homework.
VERY ORGANIZED! She doesn't grade homework from the book, but she really stresses it a lot. Occasional 10 pt assignments. Her tests can be kind of hard, but she provides practice exams to help you prepare. She does whatever she can to help her students. If you attend every class period, you will surely do well.
She is a great teacher! Always willing to help. The tests aren't bad if you come to class and make an effort. Not to mention she is pretty easy on the eyes too.
Mrs. Foes is the best teacher I have ever had. She makes a hard (and boring) topic like calculus and makes it fun and even exciting! She is very knowledgeable. If you have to take a math class and she is the instructor, then you would be a fool not to take her section.
An amazing teacher. Always willing to help with any questions you have or problems with understanding a section.
I had her for the 216-217 combo course. the imformation moves fast, but it has to to stay on schedule. tests followed what was gone over in class.
great teacher...very funny and interesting, but easily steers class on topic and always on time. her sunshiney demeanor really helped with staying awake in my saturday once a week 730 am section. really smart lady--i admire her a lot.
Great teacher. Very helpful.
she is a good helpful teacher.she does look good
I hadn't taken a math class in years when I went into her Pre-Calc session. She is extremely clear and helpful with the material. She provided a note packet with illustrations and lecture material so that students could more easily follow along with the speedy course. One of the best instructors you'll find.
Really good teacher. Def recommend her.
Enjoyed her class very much!! Thanks Mrs. Foes!!
I took her for the combined class for 216 217. Mrs. Foes has a good presence about her but if math is not your strong subject DO NOT TAKE THE COMBINED COURSE. you would think it would be easy, but to more than half the people in my class...it isn't. all the homework is a MUST if you want to do well on the test. also the first day she will give you
Took her for Pre-Calc. She is pretty hard but she gives you ALL of the tools you need to succeed and then leaves it up to you to work for your grade. She makes an awful class like Pre-Calc a little more fun with her stories and happy outlook. Great teacher and I'd take her again for any class.
Took her for pre-calc and she does her best to make you do well. One word of advice, STUDY and do every homework assignment! She is very helpful when you have questions and even allowed us to take in notes for the final. ( online class )... I recommend her! She also grades tests VERY quickly, usually the next day its posted. Great teacher !!!
Doesn't ever let you make up an exam, no matter the circumstances.
Just a giant waste of my time
Dont let this semester make you stray from her sprg2012 course. the strike that is going on is affecting all the teachers, she confided with the class and explained. Im a student who is taking her i didnt understand her circumstances or methods, but once i put that aside she is helpful, will talk after class she just has a different teaching style.
great teacher highly recommend her for stats! yes there is homework but it is easy she goes over problems in class she gives good examples and will for sure help. very good for math teacher
This teacher is more concerned about keeping her job than she is about actually teaching her class. The homework that she is giving us has little correlation to the stuff she is showing us in class. & the test is nothing reflective of what we have learned & well I am failing even though I understand it I just can't seem to show her & cant get help.
waste of time, shes putting this book together & it has many typos but ontop of that she refers for us to ask if we need help & she says its in your book.. not helpfuleven when i ask the teacher to explain she says go to the book. might as well teach myself. on top of that she puts you in groups. good luck if you take her, or try not to.
waste of time, shes not helpful at all wish i took a diffrent class. its easy if you already did 93 and 94 otherwise just skip to mth115
Terrible teacher... Neglects her.students
I took her for the online class. The Class its self was pretty easy if you remember when the discussion posts are due. She is very slow at emailing back, and if you are close to the next letter grade she will not bump you up. Over all i was not impressed, would not recommend the online class.
Very difficult teacher. Brutal grader. Impossible tests. This professor shows no mercy.
She was a really good teacher and I thought she was really clear on the notes. the only downside was the amount of homework but that was fine if you stayed on top of it. plus she wasn't that bad looking on the eyes.
She is very rude. I tried to get help from her on several occasions but she was hard to reach and avoided meeting with me. Harsh grader. LOTS of homework. It was a mistake taking this class with her.
Horrible teacher. exams are hard. Neglects her students. Unwilling to meet in person for extra help. Overall disappointing.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. I took this class online instead of face to face for a reason. She is not flexible at all which is hurting my grade. If you can't take this class face to face then don't bother taking it at all.
I'm taking two online courses this semester, and there is such a huge difference. Professor Foes' online class is great! The online discussion boards make it feel more like a classroom, and she responds quickly. I wish my other online class were half as good as this one.
I was scared going into her class as I am 16 and this was a 200 level math course, and I suck at math. She did a great job of helping me feel comfortable and encouraging her students when we felt like we couldn't succeed. You definitely have to study for tests, show up for class and do the homework but if you do, then you can pass no problem.
HORRIBLE. Do not recommend!!!! There are so many better choices for math professors at RVC don't waste your time and money with Foes. Seriously. I had to beg to get help outside of the classroom and even then she only gave me 10 minutes of her time.
She's one of those people that are too smart for their own good. Tests are intense and don't expect ANY of the problems on the tests to be like anything in your homework assignments, textbook, or on-line resources. Her tests are sadistic. Run away. I'm not kidding- RUN!!!
Professor Foes is awesome. She had the best noteslectures, answers all questions, and is very clear. Tests are tough and worth a big percentage of your grade so STUDY, especially conceptual questions. She allowed a reference sheet on the final and a few extra credit opportunities. It's not an easy class but if your going to take it, take Foes.
Professor Foes is awesome! She's willing to clarify anything you may need help on, and is pretty open with office hours. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!
would not round up my grade when I was at a .02 away from the grade change.
Questions on her exams and quizzes do NOT coincide with that in the homework. QUIZES WEEKLY!! Not lenient when it comes to missing a class. You must attend to understand anything! I had her 3 days a week and she moves VERY QUICKLY! You only need the online software, not the paperback. BEWARE
She is really thoughtful in how she teaches. At first, I thought we were going through the materials too fast, but she told me that as long as i keep doing the work, ill be fine. Here I am at the end, with a final A grade. She has been so helpful and she will help you no matter what.
Falsely puts on a smile when it comes to students who need additional help. I understand the trig portion of the class is difficult, but whenever I would go to office hours did not really seem prepared to go beyond what we talked about in class to help. All I have to say is to be prepared to work hard, and get screwed over on hard grading.
She is ridiculous honestly. She always says "If you need help, email me!" but if you need help on an assignment that's due the next day, you won't receive the help you need. She takes 2+ days to respond, which makes your grade suffer.
She's okay, you just need to put in a bit of work and care about the class.
DO NOT TAKE STATS ONLINE!! Hardest thing I've ever done! She was a decent teacher but there was a lot of unexpected discussions or assignments we were not told about or reminded to do. Too much material was covered without quizzes or tests, and did not offer extra credit or assistance for help. Maybe it was my mistake for taking it online
Reads right from the power points. Although she does the work in the workbook in front of the class, there's no real explanation as to what she is doing. Definitely would not recommend .
Took this class over the summer and it is the perfect summer class to take. Yes, there are 1 (sometimes 2) sections of homework due every day (Mon-Fri) but they are so easy if you just take the time do them. Be prepared to spend at least an hour on each section of homework. Unlimited tries on HW and quizzes. If you want an A take this class.
I've had her twice before and continuously have had issues with her. Some things she does are not in the syllabus, and she is not very good at communicating with her online students. She's not horrible, but she is not very direct and often assigns things last minute and gives you little to no time to finish it. I'm taking an online class right now and she requires to take tests (1 per week) on campus; which isn't that big of a deal but I'm taking an online class so I wouldn't have to go to campus on a special trip.
LOVED HER. Lectures are so easy to understand, she uses calculator commands instead of old school charts. There's homework for every section, as to be expected with math, but you get unlimited tries + there's a bunch of tools to show you how it's done. Gives out a notebook she makes, it has all the notes printed out. Always ready to help you out!
She is a really nice person, and explains everything very well. She gives out a workbook that she makes with notes in them, all you have to do is show up and fill out the notes with her. She answers any questions that you have. Lots of homework that takes about 1-2 hours per assignment. Don't make the mistake I did, show up and fill out that book!
One of the worst professors I have ever had. She literally stands at the front of the room and reads off of the screen where she has the work book pulled up. When you ask for help she just says refer to the Etext on my math lab. Her sample exams don't even have the same material that is on the exam most of the time!
Amazing. Simply amazing. I am not so good at math and I was able to understand almost everything. She gives you pre-made notes in this booklet and it is such a great thing for organization purposes. She lets you use a page of notes on the final and a formula sheet for every exam. I highly recommend her.
Professor Foes is the best teacher I have had at Rock Valley. She is super organized and everything is spelled out in the syllabus and on MyMathLab. She always responds to my emails within less than a day. Her note packets are a life saver. You would be a fool not to take her. Best math teacher ever.
Professor Foes was very nice. Her lectures were sometimes hard, but she always is ready to answer any questions. The material can be tough, so showing up to class regularly and studying hard helps you to get the grade you want!
Homework every night before the next day of class and it will take you over an hour or 2 to get it all done. I remember one of my homework assignments being 4 hours. However doing all the homework really made me learn the material well and the tests weren't as hard. Great teacher, but lots of homework.
She really helps when you don't understand something. There is a lot of homework but it is never to hard because MyMathLab helps a lot if you need help. Also there is very detailed notes.
Seriously one of the nicest professors I've had and so helpful! She was always available when I had questions on the material taught in class and replies to emails super fast. Only downside is the large amount of homework, but since you have the opportunity to get full points on them, it's not too bad. (I am horrible at math by the way!!) got a b!
Mrs. Foes is really kind and helpful. She is so sweet and funny. She does give homework but always easy and little.
Professor Foes is easily one of the best teachers at RVC. She is so kind and funny She really cares about each student. If you dont understand something she really will break it down for you until you understand it. Most homework was done on MML and was usually 20 ish points. I highly recommend Professor Foes!
I had Professor Foes for MTH 93/94 and now 115. She is a very nice professor and she is funny sometimes in her lectures. Test can be confusing but if you show up and follow her notes youll be fine. She also gives a lot of extra credit for points toward the exam which will help your grade a lot. Overall cool math professor. Take her!
Would highly discourage you from taking Foes, didn't explain the material or help with understanding the basic structure of the class. She made mymathlab and eagle FAR more confusing that necessary and then took off points when things were late due to misunderstanding. OVErall probably the worst professor on campus, dont take.
Professor Foes is a very nice teacher and will do what she can to help you. However, she does make you work for it and needs to see effort on your part. She used MyMathLab for homework assignments, which was good practice and helped me prepare for tests. Her exams can be a bit confusing so pay attention and study and you should be fine.
Currently towards the end of the semester and Ive had a wonderful time taking statistics with Foes. I am taking the online course, but she is very helpful regardless. Although, she wont call students out personally, she isnt clueless when it comes to students using chegg, quizlet, or other online sources so keep that in mind.
Decent class, most of the online work she herself does not teach directly however the set-up certainly helps and is pretty straightforward. If you are capable of simply learning by videos and examples, then I would recommend using this class as a resource.
This class has a lot of work attached to it. I took notes for each section then did work to go along w/ it. So at least three days a week I was doing math assignments. She gives extra credit for asking questions, but I never did that. She had a very structed online class. In the future I would probably choose a different teacher but she wasn't bad.
Professor Foes is a great teacher, but you do need to show her that you are willing to do what she needs you to do. I failed the same class in high school but with her teaching, I got an A. Would diffidently take her again if I needed another Math class.
the homework took forever to do and some days, you would have to do multiple sections in 2 days
Professor Foes is a great person. She is so nice and she is always willing to help. She is very organized and every single class period you just fill out a note packet that she provides at the start of the semester. However this class was very hard. You get a lot of homework and quizzes. I did not like that at all.
Foes a great person. She actually cares about the student's learning the material. She listens to feedback and will help you succeed if you let her. There is a lot of homework, but it doesn't take long if you understand the material.
She is a nice teacher and helpful, but she makes it almost impossible to pass an exam. Quizzes and homework would always be easy but the exams were difficult. It was almost as if she made the exams out of criteria we didn't go over. All work is through mymathlab.
She truly likes her subject and makes it interesting to her students. On the first day of class, she had us pair up and do a fun group activity (I'm an introvert so that's saying something). Quizzes were all completed at home and the final exams were weighted less than the quizzes. Additionally, she had multiple extra credit assignments.
I struggled with this class because overall I am not good at math and professor Foes did not make it any better. The assignments are difficult and if you ask for help she gives very short vague responses. If you struggle with math pick a different professor
So for the class we had a total of 32 hw assignments, 7 quizzes and 6 exams. Hw and quizzes are online and are ok difficulty but on her exams she adds in some trick questions that you don't see on the hw/quizzes. I struggled a bit in her class but that's on me, she goes over a huge packet of notes for each chapter. Go to class for extra exam points
If struggle in math like me, professor Foes is the professor for you. She simplified complex topics very well, and although the midterm and final are worth 1/4 if your grade, the other 3/4ths are homework that you can retake infinitely (it also helps you understand the problems of you struggle), and the online quizzes are based on the homework.
At least 3 homework assingments per week but they hardly count towards your grade. Exams are always on Monday or Tuesday and there is no review. All the homework she assigns is harder than what she covers in class and the program she uses leaves a lot to be desired. Ruined my freshman year with loads of pointless homework.
I took online, 8 week course, good amounts of homework and a good amount of lectures to watch during shorts period of time but tests and quizzes were straight forward and just like the problems practiced. Overall good class.
She's very kind and good at teaching the topics
I wasn't a big fan of the MTH220 class (I think I just wasn't a fan of the subject), but overall, as a professor, she is decent.
Kind and caring professor, but the whole class is on a separate program that's all automated, so there are no lectures or feedback from her unless you ask for it. Program prioritizes its own stats program instead of calculator or Excel usage (what's used in the real world). Only take if you don't plan on using stats in the future. Otherwise easy.
This teacher is terrible. She assigned so much useless homework. I had 26 assignments due within one week. I took her online class, and she doesn't even teach the material; she assigns random videos that she didn't make. She does not teach anything.
Prof Heather R. Foes doesn't really teach anything at all. She didn't even teach us how to use our graphing calculator........Like how are we supposed to do our homework?? She assigns like no lectures or videos. Highkey confused on how she expects her students to pass. Her tests and quizzes are due in the same week too... weird.
Professor Foes is really one of the best professors I have ever had. She is super organized and always available outside of class. I would absolutely recommend.
I almost never leave feedback here, but I had to when I saw the ridiculous feedback people are leaving for Professor Foes. Didn't teach the graphing calculator? No lectures or videos? These are nothing but lies. She did all of that and more. She is so nice and accessible. If you just do the work, you will pass.
I have a weird work schedule and Professor Foes would answer my questions late at night and on weekends. She was very helpful and definitely knows her stuff. I highly recommend her.
Isnt a good professor, is super strict on honorlock, makes you get a external web cam and doesnt give extensions even if its a family emergency.
Overall, she is such a nice person and did explain everything well, but she taught a lot of information in one day, and it's hard to gather everything at once.
Means well but struggles to explain her material is a meaningful way. Lots of homework with a billion parts. Exams are worth 50% of your grade, but the final is only 20%. I feel like the only way to do decent is to be as into stats as she is. Can't answer questions to save her life.
I showed up to class everyday, I do all of the homework (most being 90% or above) and the quizzes. I am a bad test taker and feel that her tests were very difficult. I understood everything in lecture, but nothing outside of class. Homework has lots of questions with a lot of parts, and is sometimes confusing. Takes at least an hour
no absolutely not do not put yourself through this
Professor Foes is my foe. This class ruined my gpa. She seems like a nice-ish person, but the way she teaches is NOT IT. Tests are worth 50% of your grade and are very difficult. Homework takes over 3 hours, and there's a lot. No amount of studying helped me understand the material. No extra credit to help boost grades. Get out if you can. RUN AWAY
