She is fun and interesting. Very nice, I enjoyed her class. Be careful on the tests they are hard. Do all study puzzles!
Very helpful. Plus she's hot. Hard class but not bad if you show up every day
I guess the last guy has a thing for pregnant women... She was nice but you have to write 7 250 word papers during the term and get a 3 on them to qualify for gordon rule. It is not especially easy to get a 3 either.
shes good but makes the test harder then it should be, i took her for iss2270, she made this 2 credit class harder then it should have been, the the test were hard and she grades hard to i guess and the class is boring because all she does is talktalktalk
She was really cool and nice. She makes class interesting and teaches witha lot of enthusiasm.
Requires a lot of memorization, but if you put a decent amount of time into it, this should be an easy class.
Teacher a little too hot to listen too her lessons. Good class.
Don't take her if you are a slacker. Class is alright, but the final is hard. Doesn't curve anything so don't look for a break.
This professor is nice but I DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT recommend this prof for anyone who has a desire to pass the class and recieve three credits.
I felt very inspired by Mrs. Hall's presentation!!!!!!!!!It was so intresting I had no problem passing it seemed easy.
This class was very easy, attendance counts somewhat but you dont need to attend class to do well on the tests. she puts all the power point right on webct and gives you a study sheet for the test. Just follow that and with all the extra credit she gives out it should definitely be a breeze.
I didn't realize how much I love anthropology! I'm not sure if its the class or the professor - she really makes it interesting. Tests can be difficult just becasue there's a lot of materail covered. Most everything comes from the notes which are also posted on-line. would reccomend.
Very nice teacher, very boring class.I used to want to study anthro in more detail, but this class turned me off.Tests are about 50% fill in the blank, and all of the papers that that person down there was complaining about? Optional. The papers are extra credit, and they are little more than journals.
She is real cool, but the class can get boring. Easy to take notes in class, because every day she does the same thing and teaches off of some slides. The tests can get a little hard, but she gives a study guide before each one. I did the study guide for each test and averaged a 90% + extra credit
She's preg now so I dunno about "hot", but whatever. Her class is all note taking. No attendance so you can skip as much as you want as long as you have a net connection to d/l notes. Her tests cover too much material and it's hard to get everything right. Extra credit is abundant. She's an ok teacher, nothing too special.
This professor was the best I had in the two yrs of community college. She gives lots of possible extra credit. The tests are complicated and mostly fill in the blank. If you study the test will be easy and there is normally extra credit possible in the tests. The class had its boring moments, but for the most part was a great class.
She is so great. She's fairly easy but its not a blowoff class. If you need credits in the humanities dept, I would highly recommend this. She is so great!! If you're somewhat of a poor test taker, this class is good because you have plenty of papers and group projects also.
Her class was pretty easy, but the tests were the hard part. She uses powerpoint and you have lots of extra credit that you can do. She gives extra credit on all of the tests, even the final, and you can even get 5 points just for visiting her in her office.
cool teacher... very intersting class...lots of extra credit available...no homework...no attendence...notes available on Web CT...I'm studying anthro and this class got me very interested in linguistics. Take her!!
Heather is Totaly Awesome. Her wealth of knowledge and work experiance is so vast, it's mind boggling. Her lectures are very detailed, and easy to follow. Lots of extra credit is offered. The tests and exams are difficult, but that's what makes them so good. You HAVE to KNOW the material to pass. And isn't learning what it's all about anyway
She was the best teacher that I have had so far at Santa Fe CC. She was very well informed and taught the information with such grace that I never realized the I was learning something until the class was over. :) She had funny stories and kept the class engaged.
Pretty easy class.. Very easy to get an A on papers... big ethnographical project but thats it..
N ICE
This lady is awesome, she's really nice and offers tons of extra credit. There were also a lot of study group sessions the semester I took it, helpful for tests. She's got teacher aid's kinda, very helpful when studying. The tests are pretty easy if you pay attention or just go to class it shouldnt be a very difficult class. Powerpoints r all onlin
She's great and patient. its annoying the presentation , but she really likes you getting up in front of the class and bumbling it humbles you,so be prepared to speak.the exams are off of her lectures ,so if you miss she will not tell you,ask another student.quizes are extra points. There are three main projects if miss you can fail. She's fun! rela
She uses power point for her classes, it is very easy to pass if you read the slides and do the extra credit. She is very easy to talk with and very helpful. If your lucky for your final she will come in singing the Rocky theme song and dancing.
Awesome teacher. Your best bet is to take this teacher; if you don't then you are retarded. I don't even need anthro, I took the class because of the teacher and that was the best decision I've made in my college career. Be smart, take her class.
She is a fantastic professor, I took her for two classes at Santa Fe. She gives many chances for extra credit during the semester. Her test not easy though; you have to learn the material, you cant just take up space in the class room.
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS!!! By far, the WORST online professor I have ever had. She does NOT reply to your e-mails, and if she ever does, she replied ridiculously late and with a SMART answer. Her instructions are very UNCLEAR, and I had to ask her several times to clarify, but of course, no response. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
She is very nice, understanding, patient and always happy with a smile on her face. I took her for Multi Culture Comm and got pretty into anthropology. She has a few presentations and projects and she does group tests. Class included a lot of student discussion about the topics we went over and notes are found on webct.
Prof. Hall's lectures are fun and entertaining. You won't be let down. Yes, and she is cute too! Her tests aren't multiple choice so you'll have to actually learn a thing or two but she offers multiple extra credit opportunities so you should probably take her up on them.
Took the class online. Quizzes were a lot more difficult and detailed than I thought they'd be, and the time limits were too short. There are extra credit oppurtunities. Every week there's a discussion and reaction paper due along with a quiz. She responded to my emails quickly and was helpful if I had any questions.
She's very nice but slightly unorganized. Her tests are pretty hard, you have to study thoroughly. Come to class and talk and she'll like you.
She is slightly unorganized. her test are extremely hard. there is a discussion and reaction paper due every week. but there is alot of extra credit opportunities. nice lady
Took human sexuality with her, had a lot of fun in class and learned more than I expected to. Gives time for good class discussions. I would recommend.
Ms. Hall seems to know her stuff and the topics are quite interesting. However, the quizes, which make up a lot of your grade, are extremely hard. They are online, timed, and very specific to the book. Ms. Hall does not take attendance, and you could probably get by with out going that much. However, the book is a necessity for the quizes.
I took her human sexuality and culture class and loved it. class was once a week.it was mostly online. grade is based off 6 online quizes and 2 term papers(one i put together in 3 hours). there's a lot of extra credit too.
One of the best classes I've had at SFC a lot of information but really good. We went on an archaeological fieldtrip and got to dig. Exams covered notes more than book.
Class is really easy. HOWEVER, the teacher is horrible! She is the least helpful teacher I have EVER had!! She will not reply to emails, and if she does they are 1-line emails that don't help! If you have this teacher, just hope you don't have any questions, because she wont answer them, even if theyre about an assignment thats due! She's horrible!
Online Course. Material is interesting, except for some the cultural antropology portion, which should be covered in a sociology course. Difficult tests, lots of reading and writing. If you are a good college student you will pass, slackers should stay away.
Took the online class and it was very informative. There is a lot of reading and writing which is expected. Teacher's quizes are difficult but plenty of extra credit is given. Overall a great experience.
Is attractive enough to be distracting. The rest of the course can be accomplished with a book and her slides available on Angel.
She takes forever to reply to E-mails, and in addition takes forever to grade important papers. Other than that, the class was really interesting. Took it online, so it was pretty much self taught. Offers a ton of extra credit though, so I got away with an A.
This is a great class! Always entertaining - you don't have to go to class but you want to. Professor understands students and is always avalible to talk. Tests are hard but materail easy to study.
Her anthropology class is very challenging but she is very nice. She is so so so FINE!!! Her looks are very distracting.
A lot of information, but really intersting. If you go to class you will do fine on exams. I had some things happen this semester and she was really helpful. I wish more professors where like this. Def. recommend!
Online Course very difficult, near impossible tests and weekly essays. Should be called Intro to Marxism, most of the course is a diatribe of how the west is bad and has caused all the worlds problems. Cultural Antro is just a way for socialists to steal funding from Anthropologys legitimate scientific fields. Cult Antro = University Brainwashing
DO TAKE! She is very social and open minded in class. Great teaching style and gives lectures clearly and organized! Very approachable and answers all types of questions. Do recommend taking any of the classes she is teaching! Online essays are sometimes easy to forget but she gives enough extra credit to make up for unfortunate circumstances.
Hottie! Not the easiest class but worth taking. The material provokes thought and if you invest yourself you will get a lot out of it. LOTS of extra credit opportunities in addition to the reaction papers and exams.
First of all never responds to emails so when there was always problem like quizzes being enabled before due time was always an inconvenience this was an online course btw. Also she would give terrible responses to general class questions making it difficult. I would've liked her if she was more responsive, a key to success with online courses.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS PROFESSOR ON-LINE. This course was obviously not a priority for her. There were always problems with the on-line materials...and it took her days to respond to emails concerning these problems. Two quizzes, a 500 word essay, two discussion posts plus an exam EVERY WEEK & she rarely graded anything.
This was a hands-off teacher. No teacher feedback at all on papers, tests, or quizzes. We read the text from cover to cover plus an enormous amount of 'links.' Professor often assigned the wrong chapters...since her course and tests were based on a different edition of the text. If she responded to emails, it took days. Avoid this on-line class
Very interesting class, fun discussions, but a lot of work. Prof. was very helpful and took extra time to explain things over the phone.
A lot of people find on-line classes hard (obviously) Dr. Hall makes the requirements clear and the material from the text more vivid with links and supplimental material. I wouldn't take this class in the summer becasue its a lot, but you can do really well if you have the time to invest. Highly recommend.
If you can take Heather Hall for a class do it! She is an amazing professor. She makes things easy to remember adn as long as you participate you will get an A. She caused me to change my major;that's how awesome she is!
I would recommend taking her on campus class vs. the online class (way easier and much more fun). Professor Hall is very engaging and knowledgeable of Anthropology. Very laid back professor who encourages group discussion and offers fun writing topics. She definitely influenced me to change my major to anthropology!
Worst teacher I have ever had! There was virtually no communication and the tests were time limited but she would change the number of questions every time but not change the time limit! I would never recommend her for anyone.!!
Heather Hall is amazing. She is very informative and keeps your attention during class. We even played a betting game called Chunky one day and got extra credit for it. If you have a chance to take her, you should do it. You wont regret it.
She gives weekly assignments on Angel, which are easy and interesting but as you progress into the class they do get a bit more time consuming. She is an amazing teacher, made me consider changing my major to anthropology. Definitely take.
she doesnt teach at all. we never do anything important in class. all of our assignments were online and she randomly added things on there. her test were ridiculous and were completely irrelevant to anything we did or watched in class. she does give alot of extra credit because the test are terrible. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
Do not take her many students are telling the truth about the way she is.
horrible teacher, took her two weeks to answer an email, test are set up badly, gives an extreme amount of questions in a short period of time
Great class, very informative and fun. Both Mrs. Hall and her teaching assistant were very helpful and considerate. I appreciated all the extra credit and study sessions for the exams. I highly recommend taking this class.
This class is what made me come to school each day! I always looked forward to it and the prof was great. Do take this class!!
I have changed my major to anthropology. I wish there were more teachers like her, she is very helpful and will go out of her way to help you. I think people who gave her a bad rating must have gotten a bad grade. I have taken two classes with Hall and will take any others she teaches.
I took this class on line and it was pretty easy to follow. The teacher posted interesting discussion topics and great supplimental materials. All the extra credit was great, definatly do it! I had some technical difficulties, professor helped and understood.
Took this teacher for human sexuality. makes class interesting and she explains things well. HORRIBLE with responding to email. Also, makes test hard with less then a minute for over 100 questions(multiple choice, essay and fill in the blank) other then that she is a good teacher. just have to pay attention and take notes!
I have her for an online course, the tests are difficult you have to keep up with the reading and she doesn't give much time for the questions, she takes awhile to respond to e-mails but she's always been helpful when she does, she requires an 8.5 (min) pg paper for the online course, but there are a lot of extra credit assignments she gives you.
I love Professor Hall. Her Gen. Antrho class made me change my major to Anthropology, I have taken all the classes she teaches and even went to Ecuador with her. I would most definitely recommend taking a class she teaches, but only if your willing to try. It's not an easy A course, but if your interested in Anthro, it will feel like a breeze.
Took the online course, teacher was helpful but she takes forever to respond to emails, the tests are VERY hard! She doesn't give you much time on them and they are very specific questions. Some of her assignments are hard to understand, most of the student's just started asking each other how to do them. Wouldn't recommend to take for online class
Online Class. This class is a lot of work and took a lot of discipline and planning to get a good grade. She is slow to reply to emails but helpful if you stop by her office. Take her in class unless you are good with online classes.
Easy class, tons and tons of extra credit. Tests arent as easy as you would think though.
Prof. Hall is Amazing. If your taking anthropology and you don't choose her class you are making a huge error. She gave me an opportunity to raise my grade at the very end of the semester when she didn't have to. I am forever indebted to her :) take my advice and don't miss out on such a great professor!
Even though I made an A in the class, I will never take her again. She assigned the class lots of work and then went out of the country in the middle of Summer A. Everyone in the class had problems with her not emailing back. We couldnt see what grades we made on her 10 pg paper because she removed the class from Angel before giving grades.
Overall, it was an enjoyable class. I do not think the tests are as hard as others have commented. If you read the text and other materials you will do fine on the exams.
I took prof. Hall on campus and on line. On line is not as easy. I recommend both the classes I took, general anthro and human sexuality but if you can, take her classes in person. very interesting and not as hard as some of these other students are saying. Also, I never had any truble getting in touch with her.
I am currently in Ms. Hall's anthro class online. I do NOT recommend taking her class online. The class is interesting but there is tons of work, and I am not a slacker who is getting bad grades. I do not find her satisfactory as a teacher. 3 or 4 times I have caught incorrect answers on her quizzes. Check your grades frequentley! She's UNORGANIZED
I never recommend this teacher to anyone. I just finished lesson 3, and some work from lesson 2 are not even graded yet. She provides a lot of work especially online classes. Sending and e-mail...it takes almost a week to reply back.
Not incredibly easy... however, she give a TON of extra credit work! Truly, a whole bunch of chances to improve your grade here and there! TAKE HER! She is one of the two best teachers in the whole college! You dont have to be perfect in school, and I promise you can get an A!
The problem with this class is that the material is super interesting but the teacher is HORRIFIC. She always has some excuse not to turn up to class. Her tests are incorrectly graded. She is nice enough but whats the point if she doesnt turn up and is poor at responding to your questions via email? Lazy, disorganized and egotisical.
(Online class) There is a lot of EC to pad your grade, and the quizzes are pretty easy. Lots of writing assignments, but all are EC. I did have to email her a few times, and it usually took 2 emails for her to respond. She just ignored one or two completely. Very slow at grading things. Tests were prgm'd poorly, some assignments weren't clear.
Only had 4 online quizzes as your grade and a paper for 40 points, didn't show up to class and when she did she didn't lecture on the material we were quizzed on.
I took Prfessor Hall for gen. Anthro and Humsex and Both were fantastic classes. Professor all really knows her stuff and very passionate about it. She is very interesting to talk to and her lectures are never boring. I will take any class she takes and I really really recommend her. She is the best professor I have ever had, I really admire her :)
THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD, PERIOD. SHE IS ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE I SINCERELY ADMIRE. TAKE HER!!
For me, her teaching style doesn't work. She lectures the entire class period. I would do better if she, maybe, gave out worksheets from time to time. All we really do is take notes. It doesn't sink in for me. If you do end up in her class, do the reaction papers the day they are assigned.
Not horrible, being online required a lot of self teaching. Slow to respond to emails/questions but fair with grading. A lot of fun, interactive extra credit assignments. Make sure you devote a lot of time and research to the term paper.
Professor Hall is super cool and her class is very interesting. She tells a lot of funny stores and her lectures keep you interested. Her tests are hard but she gives a ton of extra credit.
she is one of the best teachers in SantaFe. She is so happy and energetic that makes you feel the same way.she explains everything very well and make anthropology so fun and interesting. but that does not mean that her class is easy.there is a lot of extra credit in her class. but for an A it is important to read the book and take notes
She does not respond to any emails. you have to read all the material she does not give much help. she quizes you on 5-6 chapters at a time. I would say she doesn't really care that some students have jobs and kids to take care of. GOOD LUCK taking her onlune class. i wouldnt recommend it.
She is very passionate about the subject, but I can't say in all good conscience that she is a decent professor. She gives absolutely no feedback with grades and doesn't really announce any assignment. Make sure you check Canvas regularly or you're screwed. Also, her in-class assignments are childish and pointless (involve using clay and/or beads)
She is a horrible professor. I'm in her class currently and I sent her an email on the 12th, no response. Copied and sent the same message the 19th, and again today, the 21st. She doesn't care about us and my is compromised because she won't answer anyone's questions. Do not take this class if you care about your grade.
Horrible teacher, she does not reply to any e-mails and she still has not posted out grades 4 days away from the end of the course. I would not recommend her to anyone who cares about their grades.
As an Anthropology major, I loved the material of the course. But Prof Hall is just a horrible professor. She is all over the place, waits until the end of the semester to grade assignments, and never responds to emails.
I really learned a lot in this class. Fun and interesting. I would def. take another class with Prof. Hall, she is very easy to talk to.
I just got my grade today and I was very surprised! I thought I was getting a C in the class, but I ended up with an A. Professor Hall was very helpful, she let me make up exams, and went over lecture material with me in her office. We covered a lot in the class, it was very interesting. Take it.
Hardly returned papers, so you don't know how well you did. Gave us study guides that didn't help on the exams. Overall frustrating because I liked her as a person, just not as a professor. It's up to you. Go with your gut.
World Prehistory was amazing, we went on a study abroad to Ecuador. Best 2 wks of my life; Heather rules. Shes understanding, full of information + super cool. Show up, participate in discussion and youll be fine!
Professor Hall is an awesome person and she is willing to help with any problems you may have. Her tests are pretty tough and there are NO study guides for them. However she give ALOT of extra credit so its not hard to pass her class.
She is a cool beautiful person, but not a very good teacher. I know most professors are not being compensated justly, so they take on a large course load than they can handle and the result is what I experienced.
Apparently, teaching is not high on Ms Hall's priority list. She leaves all grading until the last second and doesn't cover material that ends up on the exams. I made an appt during office hrs to ask about my grade: she no showed, no email, no text, no call. Had I known my grade earlier I could have brought it up. She negatively affected my GPA.
This was a terrible experience! OK so I have no background in Anthropology. I was trying to participate as required; I asked a question which I guess she thought was a stupid question. I was unprepared for the sarcasm . She mocked me in front of the class! She doesn't answer questions via email and doesn't teach what is on the tests.
I realize that professors are people and have outside lives but Hall just shows up, puts in her time and is gone. She doesn't communicate outside of class, doesn't respond to emails, is not available during office hours and gives no grade feedback until the end of the term. Her tortuous lectures digress and only partially cover material on exams.
I loved the class, but I was not fond of this teacher whatsoever. Horrible with communication and posting of grades. On top of that, she was a majorly tough grader. Half of her assignments are extra credit, which was great, but you better be prepared for the the long reading and the crazy tests that go with it. I would not recommend this professor.
Never answers emails- Im taking an online class I needed her to respond. Two weeks into the class and no grades have been posted Text book never opened it!!!!
Do not take this online class. Over the summer I've had no job and only 1 other online class and I still hardly had time it. EXTREMELY time consuming. Expects you to readwatch 20-30 hours of material a week. She does not give grades back! Grade tab feature is blocked on canvas! Gives extra credit, but it is just as unreasonably time consuming.
Took this course online. It's the weekend after the last day of class. Still dont know what my grade it! SHE DOES NOT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAIL!!! Its an online class for crying out loud. Her tests are 48 questions and you have less then a min per question, and some are short essay answers.I emailed her no answer! Doesnt use the book at all.
Seriously dont take this class... dont even bother buying the book because NOTHING of what she teaches or whats in the book is on the quiz I got a D on every quiz. she has no explanation for this. she has no office hours. This class seems easy but the quizzes are very hard. Nice person but awful teacher. cant see your grade until very last day
She is very funny and really easy to listen to the best part about this class were the lectures by far. Class itself is pretty easy a lot of online work. Watch video answer questions. Learned a lot in this class. One thing I didn't like was the grading system. You wont know your grade until after finals and have to guess based on your total points
Professor Hall is great! Im not a morning person but her class was full of energy and was very hard not to pay attention. Her lectures are great and very descriptive. Although her tests are rather challenging, she does provide MANY extra credit opportunity. Go to class, pay attention, and you will pass.
She is a great oerson but a horrible teacher. SHe subbed in for the original professor we were to have and ended up taking over the class. She hasn't posted grades yet and she is still assigning us work even though yesterday was the last day of the semester. She does not answer emails and does not meet during office hours. Not much extra credit.
quizzes are easy gives LOTS of extra credit too bad I didn't do much extra credit didn't study for 2 tests and came out fine essays are MLA format just bs it with summarizing it for the reaction papers trust me she doesn't understand the concept of a reaction paper I actually did an actual reaction paper got a 3/5 on a bs summarization paper 5/5...
I'd advise not taking Professor Hall online. I'm taking two online classes this summer. One professor is clear, organized and gives good feedback, then there is Professor Hall. You can't see your grades. I have no idea how I am doing in the class. Extra credit is a ridiculous amount of work for 3 points and optional stuff is on the test.
Took online class so seemed harder to keep up. Lots of reading, writing papers and quizzes. Grades fair and solid about helping. Offers A LOT of Extra credit so should take advantage all the time. Tests are hard and course is difficult. A lot of information in a short amount of time. Would take again, helpful to students
I took this course during Fall A. Although there was a lot of reading required, I thought the course was easy, organized, and entertaining. She doesn't post your grades, but you can track it yourself with the grading scale provided. Main complaint: she does take a while to grade papers, quizzes, and extra credit. I'd take it again if I had to.
Overall she is a nice person and makes class discussions entertaining but this class is very pointless. She does not post quiz or test grades until the semester is almost over and never responded to any of my emails. There are no study guides for quizzes so you don't know what to study. Do yourself a favor and find another professor. Unorganized.
Over all bad professor. She mostly lectured about things that weren't on exams. She doesn't provide you with any kind of average grade until after the final. Doesn't give any feed back on assignments. If you value your GPA and tuition choose another professor or just don't take this class. Never there during office hours.
Don't take if you have emotioal triggers as the class revolved around the most intensely negative aspects of human sexuality. Difficult to reach for help and does not give detailed answers-if you get one at all. The grading book was also disabled and prof. did not provide a list of assignments to keep track of grades. Incredibly disappointed!
Professor Hall was very nice and easy to talk to. However, her class was very disorganized and there were times where she forgot to put an assignment on Canvas. Her tests were also not fairly timed. If we had a 45 question test, we would only have 40 minutes to complete it.
professor Hall was AMAZING. She made my time and effort worth it. Though her grades and email skills could use improvement, I loved the course.
She never did respond to my emails, at first it made me mad but In class, she was very helpful and kind, I can't wait to take her class again and do even better next time.
She was so sweet and understanding when it came to the class work. Her quirky jokes make each morning a little better, excited for class to start back up, don't take this class if you aren't willing to work.
I took this class online. The material was mostly common knowledge, at least for me. The questions and essays given to you are honestly quite invading and personal sometimes. The extra credit is typically interesting, definitely made me expand my horizons. She does not grade until the end of the course. There is a lot of work to be done online.
Gonna be honest, don't take this class. I took online, she relies far too much on stuff from the internet to teach students rather than teaching herself (TONS of supplemental material).Worst is slow grading. Says on syllabus "your end grade shouldn't be a surprise", but grades aren't posted until the very end of the class, so you can't keep track
Her teaching methods are disorganized and absent minded. Example: she may spend twenty minutes relating a personal story only to realize she didnt cover half the class material (which she will test you on) In the last two minutes. Doesnt respond to emails. You will wind up teaching yourself if you want a good grade. Does give extra credit though.
A lot you people give her a negative rating because of how unorganized She is wile in class. To be completely honest, its what makes Professor Hall. She has a huge heart, and cares passionately about her students and peers. She keeps everything close and personal like a second mom. I love her way of teaching, even though its not a strick formula.
Only take this class if you absolutely need to. Professor does not interact with students and takes forever to email back. Does not put ANY grades in so you don't know your grade throughout the whole semester. Such a pointless class, although there is lots of extra credit options. Sometimes I forget I'm even taking this class
Unless you're amazing at anthro, DO NOT take this class. I spent hours on end making outlines and study guides and never got above a D on an exam. I also emailed her many times asking for help and she never replied. Ended up dropping the course. You also get less than a minute per question on the exams and quizzes. Takes forever to grade essays.
The class overall is awesome and interesting. There were discussion posts and quizzes, but she gives well over a week to turn those in. There is a GELO paper and a term paper which was not difficult at all. Very clear about directions and formatting. Lots of opportunity for extra credit that consisted of questions for videos and short essays.
Heather is an amazing teacher and one of the best I've had at Santa Fe. I was lucky enough to go with her on a study abroad and wouldn't hesitate to take one of her classes again. She really cares about her students and gives you the tools and help you need to succeed, but YOU will still have to study and and put in the effort needed to learn.
Professor Hall is a very caring individual and values the opinions of her students. She gives ample opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. She tries to make each lecture entertaining and understandable for all. You can skip class a couple of times and won't fall behind. The class is heavily based on the textbook.
She never responded to my emails. Exams werent opened the times she said they would be. Youll have to calculate your own grade because she doesnt allow canvas to do the grading for you (points-based grading system). She tries too hard to influence our beliefs instead of teaching us. Hard to get a hold of her outside of class.
Hall is a great professor and is definitely passionate about the subject, but let me warn you: this class is NOT easy. If you want an easy A this isn't the class for you.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I took this class online fall B thinking it wouldn't be that hard. Which it shouldn't have been but this professor is horrible. She takes weeks to respond back to your emails. She doesn't start putting grades in until the last week of the semester so you have no idea what your grade is the whole semester.
Do not take her online classes. She will not respond to any of your emails. She won't post any of your grades until the end of the semester. Extra credit assignments are 1000+ word essays that are worth a handful of points at best. If you think Human Sexuality is an easy A, think again. Maybe her on-site courses go well, but her online ones do not.
she is lovely would take this class as a easy credit for gen ed
heather is a great teacher but you have to be ready to work
amazing teacher
Heather was funny, charismatic, and made boring stuff fun. Would love to take again.
Heather Hall was a fantastic teacher. I was surprised at first, because she was not the highest rated teacher compared to my other options, but I was glad I chose her class. She is lecture heavy and a bit out there, but she can definitely tell a good story and keep you interested. Her class wasnt too hard, but she did have a lot of hand outs.
Heather has made my school experience much more enjoyable. definitely recommend taking one of her classes.
Do yourself a favor and chill out. Take her class and enjoy the lectures. Ask questions you have, be curious. Trust that Hall has your back and dont immediately get flustered if youre confused with something or didnt do so well on an assignment. State any concerns privately and respectfully and make sure to participate. Her classes are so fun.
I took ANT2000 with Hall online thinking I might learn some interesting stuff. Nope. She won't respond to emails, will fail your assignments days after you repeatedly asked for help, etc. She must be a great professor in person according to ratings but read my lips: DO NOT take her online. I guess she has no patience for you if she can't see you.
she won't respond to emails ever. Tests have about 45 minutes which is not fair because it includes multiple written responses and super specific fill in the blanks. At first, I was glad there wasn't a textbook, but now I wish there was one. Not a very organized class, also the class was canceled a lot.
Professor Hall truly understands and cares for her students. She wants to see you learn and do well. She is passionate about anthropology, so the lectures are very interesting, and class activities are always fun. She strongly promotes in-class discussion; everyone is always free to ask questions and speak their mind. I really enjoyed this class!!
love LOVE THIS PROFESSOR FUNNY AND NICE LEARNED A LOT
fun class! no textbook, have to follow outline from lecture but very interesting. do the extra credit
You rarely learn anything. The class is just her talking about whatever random thing pops into her head and her exams cover info you don't know and never learn in the class. She is very sweet and caring just a bad teacher.
We had 1/2 on campus and 1/2 online due to COVID. On campus, she was just okay. Lectures were her talking and rambling the whole time. Many documentaries. Class is very dry and it can get awkward at times. Online, she never responds to emails and is extremely slow with grading anything. She does offer many extra credit opportunities, though.
She was awful. NEVER answered emails. I got an A but had no idea what my grade was till posted. She literally was unreachable. There was no instruction and the modules were out of order. only assigned work like once a month and no instruction before on what to read or do. Would not recommend her for anything.
DONT take Hall online she never answers emails. The class went an entire month without her posting new material then she posted a months load of work last minute for us to do in less than 2 weeks. She wasnt clear about the GELO paper & she switched it last minute to a zoo project that made no sense. Wasnt clear what book to buy at beginning of sem
ANT2511 Fall 2020. Extra credit, lots of homework, read read read! Loved the class, learned a lot! Come to class for lectures/ labs. Email is not best way to contact her... Very reasonable professor for sure!
DON'T TAKE HER!She is disorganized at BEST. Day late opening the course online, unpublished assignments, cherry picks random sentences for quizzes, does not keep up with grading, pushes back assignments because she doesn't open them on time. She is very nice, but not a good online teacher. Extra credit opportunities, but too much reading to do xtra
DO NOT TAKE HALL! she does not respond to emails at all! also her tests are randomized meaning going over material that was not covered in class, often changes due dates, no communication whatsoever, if you want to make your stress levels even more worse dont take this class!
Does not grade until the last minute. I have stuff from the beginning of the semester that still hasnt been graded and theres only 2 weeks left of class. Overall it was an easy course, but she just doesnt grade so you wont know what you have in class until last minute
I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt; I'm sure she's a great teacher in-person, but I've been having a hard time in her online class. She's not good at responding to emails, which is my only means of contacting her, which makes this class a lot harder than it probably should be. I'll be highly surprised if I pass this class...
enjoyable curriculum. stay focused and you will succeed. shes easy to talk to and is understanding. 10/10
Professor Hall is very knowledgeable about anthropology. However, she is very scatterbrain and all over the place. She's not good with canvas and posting, to be honest, I didn't know my grade the whole semester. Also, her instructions are not very clear at times, and overall, it can be stressful and aggravating, She is understanding and caring.
You won't know your grade AT ALL until the final grades for the semester are put out. She claims you can keep track of your points but you really cant as nothing shows up in canvas and only a few assignments were handed back in person. The semester is currently over and I have absolutely no idea how I did in the class whatsoever.
Loved her as a professor! Only complaint is things weren't graded until the end. Shouldn't be a problem though because class is easy and as long as you do all your work you're good.
peace and love
Professor Hall is a wonderful professor if you are looking for a somewhat easy course. There are a lot of papers throughout the semester though. One large final project at the end of the semester takes a lot of time to complete. She also cancels classes A LOT, check Canvas or your email before every class. Classes were just open discussions.
It was a pleasure having Professor Hall as an instructor. I learned many things in her class. She is passionate about biological anthropology, I truly enjoyed ANT2511!
She makes class enjoyable for what it is. The assignments are pretty easy, you just can't procrastinate in her class. I also wish you could see your grade throughout the year.
she is amazing best professor i've ever had she's so funny too
Very kind and understanding with pretty relaxed grading. As long as you put a bit of effort into each assignment you should definitely pass. She doesn't show total grades on Canvas throughout the year which does get pretty annoying when trying to gauge your performance. Overall a great professor teaching an interesting and fairly easy course.
Professor Hall is an amazing professor. She makes lectures fun and engaging and makes you want to show up. She gives very few assignments and when she does they are super easy and clear. She is always available outside of class hours so dot hesitate to reach out. She is extremely understanding and always willing to lend a hand.
Great teacher just make sure you complete the projects and assignments there is also plenty of extra credit if you mess anything up.
This class was super easy. Apart from a few definitions, it's mostly stuff that people already know. She doesn't grade writing super strictly either, even though we did have several (short) papers to write. There was one presentation but again she was very laid back and is a nice professor who really enjoys her field.
The class was a breeze. I'm in Gator Engineering and needed a Gen Ed course and luckily got this class. Take this class if you want an easy GPA boost. The only thing is she grades work very late, but she will always give you an A. There was 1 to 2 quizzes the whole semester and plenty of in class EC.
Amazing professor! I'd absolutely take a class with her again.
Great teacher! She was awesome to have a class with
wasn't very good at releasing grades or feedback. in fact, she didn't have the grades module posted for you to see at all. NEVER responds to emails, but good lectures. really hard to get in touch with for questions.
