Pretty good teacher. She can come off as being tough the first day but she really isn't. Just don't bring your cell phone into her class!
She is a great teacher but don't bring a cell phone to her class. She will help you out but you have to class. she is helpful when you go to her office.
avoid cell phone, easy to approach if do not understand assignment
Ms Holley was an okay teacher. I thought her quiz and test were different from the things in her notes. If you aren't good at math like me then dont take her class. Youll be teaching yourself.
Holley assumes you know basic steps when teaching the math principles. Don't take her if you need math broken down meticulously to the basic steps each day. Helpful in class and afer, she goes gives extra points for homework. A "real" nice pers
great teacher. Easy to understand and gives credit for more than just exams. Very nice and understanding. Very helpful as well.. I recommend her for mat1033 and mac1105.
Her class is easy if you do the homework and come to class. She is usually pretty easy to understand as long as you know the basics.
Very good professor. Will take the time to teach you the important stuff and glaze over the stuff you will never use again. One word of advice is do not bring a cell phone into class and in the very least remember to turn it off before class begins.
Awesome Teacher! She is very helpful and will go over things with you. If you don't remember something, she take the time to refresh your memory. I am taking her again this semester. I definitely recommmend her!!
Excellent professor, will take the time to go over things you don't understand. More interested in teaching you concepts rather than memorizing formulas. Definitely recommend to anyone.
i learned alot
offers extra credit which really helps
She is very picky and hates cellphones... She kicks out of class someone everyday. Pleassee... be smart and don't take MAC1105 with her... there are many batter teachers on campus.
She is a great teacher. I would recommend her to everyone.
great teacher ,easygoing, no test reviews
I am the worst math student and I got a really good grade in her class. She is well worth taking and if your not a math wiz, she does offer extra credit plenty of times. I have taken several math teachers at SFCC and she is by far the most understood professor. To bad she doesn't teach Statistics.
Holley uses a sense of humor and real life examples to help instruct students better
AWESOME TEACHER Goes over homework in class, does give alot of homework, but alot of odds. Really freaking nice
Great teacher, will not let you fail!!
great teacher. patient and thorough. do not hesitate to ask any questions.
She was very nice but her test are difficult. She is not overly friendly but is a good teacher.I would recommend her to anyone.
She is not a nice teacher , i really think her class is boring we always do the same thing!!!!!
Really bad teacher!!!!Stay away from her!!
If you want to pass don't take this class with HEATHER HOLLEY!!!
If you have taken this sort of math in highschool, you're set. If you didn't be prepared to teach yourself!
Had this class awhile ago. Liked her a lot. Class wasn't the easiest, but I learned a lot. Plus, she's pretty hot.
Failed Capuano and now I have her. I have a B+ and hoping to make an A on the next test. GO HOT BABE HOLLEY!!!
She is the best math teacher at SFCC! Explains everything clearly until everyone understands the material you just have to let her know. Offers extra credit and is availble for extra help. Friendly with an exceptional math skills and knowledge.
Good math teacher, she is real relaxed and a fun teacher. She is also very helpful, gives extra credit, and gives good lectures to prepare you for the tests.
does all hw in class, just tell what u want and she will do it for u. very easy class just listen and pay attention and do hw and you will do fine.
EXCELLENT TEACHER!
Shes great she does offer extra credit. If you have questions during the test she will help you decide if you are going the wrong way with the problem or not. SHe will help you as much as she can as long as you respect her.She has a funny sarcastic attitude.
I'm not great in math but passed with an A. Extra credit helps. Cute teacher, nice ***
If you want a easy A take her. extra credit everywhere. Did not prepare at all for anyone moving foward to calc. Doesnt explaing things well, and if you ask dumb ?'s she will let you know. had to teach myself most of the book.
She is by far one of the best math teacher's I've ever had. If you listen close to what she says, she is super funny! She gives great extra credit and super easy tests (but only because she dowsn't beat around the bush). She is to the point and teaches with excellent examples! Can't ask for a better professor!!
Very easy teacher, no attendance policy. Don't take her if your a math major though, doesn't prepare you for calc...dunno about the chili pepper either.
She is amazing. Great sense of humor, cute, and really helpful if lost. She makes sure you understand before moving on to the next study.I have already taken two classes with her.I wish she also taught statistics.Tip:show up regularly and do the extra credit.
AWESOME teacher! She was amazing and very clear. Best math teacher I've ever had. I disagree with the "doesnt prepare for calc" comments - all of those were from the summer semester, not enough time to.. Anyhow, do the extra credit and homework and you'll get an A. Best math teacher at sfcc. :)
This teacher knows her stuff! I liked her but you need to pay attention and not fool around in her class. If she says something she really means it. no cell phone allowed on in class! do the work including homework (she counts it)and you should do well with her.
Assigns homework, answers questions on it first thing next class, lectures, assigns more homework. Reviews before each test and quiz, offers extra credit, has funny and sarcastic sense of humor. Highly recommend. Easy A.
This was a pretty easy class. As long as you did the hw and came to class most of the time you should pass. She goes over the hw first thing every class and reviews before every test and quiz. I would highly recommend her.
she a very good teacher who knows what she talking about. she goes over h/w and answers any questions that u may have. all of the problems from the h/w are on the quizzes and test. even collects h/w for extra points. have to study and do your h/w to keep up in class!!!
Very to the point. she DOES NOT WASTE TIME!! she is clear and will answer ALL your questions!! I highly reccomend you take her course. As long as you do the hw you will get an A. Her tests and quizzes are all very short and easy :)WONDERFUL TEACHER!!!
Great at explaining things in a very clear, concise way. Read the chapter and learn the concept and the test and quiz will be easy. I would recommend her to anybody who is not at math to begin with
I am currently taking Ms. Holley, and would recommend her to anyone. This was my second time taking this class, I had Eisenburg the first time and dropped because she was no help. Then I took Holley and now have an A in her class she is so sweet and really cares about her students.
great teacher, totally cute and helpful explains the material in the easiest possible way. i usually hate math and barely get out with a C but she keeps your attention span (i'm getting an A) :) tests and quizzes cover the material but don't appear to be written in an ancient dialect. definatly consider taking her.
Very nice teacher. She wants everyone to pass. Gives credit as long as you show work on your test even if the answer is wrong. She comes off trying to be a strict teacher but she is really nice. Take her- class is hard but she tries to do everything to help students. Her extra credit quizzes are very easy!
she is the best math teacher I've had at santa fe!!

She's a cool teacher. Just do your homework, don't ask stupid questions and you will do fine. She expects you to know what she has taught. Overall, I would rate her a 'B'
Horrible experience!!! Did not teach material and had an attitude. I passed the course and know nothing about college algebra. Take someone else if you want to learn!
I hear she is the best at Santa Fe for this subject, I agree..BUT SHE DOESN"T GO INTO DETAIL! Explains info briefly, optional hw, optional attendance, extra credit quizzes, PARTIAL CREDIT IS ALWAYS GIVEN.If you are good at Calc you will love her.If you struggle, just prepare to teach yourself as she explains things her way that are differ from book.
just be there. in 1 day a lot can happen but if you focus more on what the material means than taking notes word for word you be alright.
Good teacher. VERY Nice! Grades come from 5 quizzes (hard) 3 tests, the final, and 10 labs (that definitely save alot of people's grades) Although she is very CLEAR about teaching, she words things VERY on her tests and that throws u off. You can get a B by getting C's on tests and just doing labs!
THE FINAL WAS DIFICULT....THE CALCULATOR IN HER HEAD NEVER HELPED ME ONCE DURING THE TEST.....
College algebra, she is an amazing teacher, answers questions, very clear, she has a calculator in her head! if you do the homework on time the tests will be easy and the quizes and pop quizes will be a joke.....(i would suggest sitting in the front row)
Really great teaching style! If you actually go to the classes and do hw, you will get a good grade. I will take this teacher again in the future if possible.
GREAT TEACHER. I took her over the summer which meant it was a bit harder since everything is in a 6 week period, but its easier to rememebr the material. If you do your homework, come to class (dont come late), your pass. But some of my classmates had troubles with the lessons, thats just from not understanding. I got an A tho. Take her
She does not explain steps in working out problems. No positive attitude and does not make class interesting.
great teacher... not too hard... just do the homework and you'll be ok... for some reason she hates cellphones... so dont plan on using them... expect to do work like in any other math class
Holley is very understanding and helpful. She wants everyone to succeed. Show some effort and you will be rewarded. Labs are extremely important for they add up to your final grade. Do all exercises from text and you will do well in her class. Her grading style is designed to help you in the long run. Great teacher and hot too!
Overall an "Ok" teacher. Her teaching efforts are good, she gives extra credit for homework, but unless you ask a ? in class don't expect too much help. I missed two days and went from an A to a C because I have no idea what was covered. Partially my fault but I couldn't help getting sick! But overall I would say shes an "Ok" teacher.
She is a great teacher. I had no idea about Pre Cal and I HATE MATH! She does move quickly, so if your not good at Math you MUST attend class everyday to stay up. She does extra credit quizzes which will help a lot. DO the homework, she makes test questions out of them.
Great Teacher! Very concerned that you learn and succeed. I had Eisenberg and learned O and walked away with my confidence shattered. Holley made learning a boring subject for me-interesting. I recommend her highly.
She was an "ok" professor.
No nonsense. Hard tests. You can get an A, but you MUST work and attend. Super, super hard final. Must remember a lot from trig to do her calculus. I am a 3.7 gpa student and got a B in her class. Could have gotten an A but didnt do well on the final even though i studied for 3 days. Thouroughly explains material though.
Best math teacher I've ever had. I'm terrible, TERRIBLE at math, but I got a B in her class after doing all the HW and studying for the tests and going to class. If you go to class and pay attention, you'll be fine. Hw is extra credit and very helpful. An amazing professor- SFCC should hold onto her and give her a raise!
Sooooo annoying! I couldn't even pay attention because she said "ok" after every word. She also teached too fast.
She is the worst math professer that I have ever had. Prior to this class I have never got a grade lower than a 98 on any math test. In her class my highest test grade was an 84. I am going to be lucky to get a B- in her class. If you take her you are stupid.
Hard Class, HW is nothing like test. Graphs nothing like HW. Make sure you study everything she doesn't assign. Wouldn't recommend her for MAC2233.
A really good teacher. She does not require attendance and gives you all the test and quiz dates on the first day. Even if you don't show up she will help you in her office. Very nice and offers extra credit. She was a great teacher.
If you choose Holley to teach Survey of Calculus you are asking for trouble. Contrary to what she may say she IS NOT always in her office for office hours, and her quizzes and tests are NOTHING like anything you will ever do in class. Please take this message as a warning so she does not screw you over by a fraction of a point like she did to me.
I took her for pre-calc. She does know what she is doing but if you are not good at math its not that easy. She gives you quizzes & tests and pop-quizzes which are up to 6 pts extra credit. I am not a math person and studied my butt off to pass with a B. Attendance is not mandatory but you'll miss out on the pop quizzes.
Well she's pretty good at knowing what she's talking about, however her test and quizzes sometimes to do not consist of what you learn in lecture. I really didnt like her teaching style, but overall she's an okay teacher. Take her if your really goood in math.
Holley is hands down the most helpful math professor I have ever had. Thoroughly answers every question, HW is EC and go over EXACTLY what will be on the tests. I highly recommend her. Will be taking her again during summer AND fall myself.
I freaking LOVE Heather Holley! She is the most amazing teacher I have ever had, honestly. She puts in an extreme amount of effort to explain the material. She expects a lot of her students and is challenging, but is so fair. I had not taken any math for 6 years and I currently have an A in this class. Truly an exceptional teacher.
She explains things clearly and is willing to help, but her tests, etc are really hard. She puts really difficult problems on them. I studied for hours and couldn't do better than a high B. Do the HW 4 times so you can have a chance at an A. Be ready for the pop quizzes because they will help your grade out enough to make an A.
HW and attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to do well in this class it is. It's not hard to get an "A" in this class if you show up and do the HW which counts as extra credit on tests. She's willing to help you understand anything.
Very good teacher. Attendance is not mandatory, but highly recommended. Make sure that you do the homework, and turn it in, because it helps you on the quizzes and tests. She is one of the best math teachers that I have had. Her quizzes are hard, but her tests are pretty easy. Overall, 9.5/10. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
she is a great math teacher, all you have to do is do the hw and take the exams.
Very good teacher! i took her for college algebra and now im signed up to take her in the fall for pre calc. She answers questions and teaches at the perfect pace. Homework isnt required but if you do it and turn it in for tests, you get extra credit! Also, attendance isnt required but you get extra credit for that too. TAKE HER .
she seems to know how to teach so far i have only been there 2 weeks but she is rude and hard to talk to in my experence she makes you feel stupid.
The BEST teacher I have ever had. No joke. She is absolutely wonderful. You could never ask for more in a teacher. Leaves no stone unturned no corner unexplored, great sense of humor (if that matters to you), always willing to help. Do all your homework, take a lot of notes, study hard and you'll ace the class. Easily the best teacher at SFC.
she is rude i agree.
I enjoyed her as a teacher. She has a strange great of humor, but takes no crap. You think she is being rude but it is more sarcastic than rude. Laugh with her!
I took her for college algebra. She's not a very warm person, and she acts annoyed when you ask a question. I skipped more than half the class and still ended up with a B though. Also she doesn't really review for tests or quizzes, which kinda sucked. She was an okay teacher.
great teacher. pretty helpful and clear. she teaches everything you need and tells you what exactly will be on the tests. if you study, you'll do fine. i recommend doing the homework, it counts for extra credit also.
She was a great teacher. Fantastic. Homework is not mandatory but if you turn it in, you get extra credit and it helps you in preparation for the tests. She is pretty funny sometimes. She is very clear and goes over the homework at the beginning of every class. She explains what to do and why you do it. I would recommend her for anybody!
Anyone who has a problem with professor Holley is crazy!!! she is the nicest teacher i have met at SF thus far, and a GREAT math teacher. She "dumbs" everything down for everyone so ANYONE can understand her. Im not great at math but she makes it impossible to fail. Do the homework because it will help your understanding plus its extra credit!!!
Easy class. Homework isn't mandatory but she uses questions from the homework on the exam. Lab is mandatory and are easy grades. Had 3 or 4 pop quizzes and whatever you get on the quizzes is like extra credit towards your final grade. Good teacher, very organized, easy to talk to.
I'm not gonna write if she is a good or bad professor. This is a honest comment. If u are good with numbers take her, and it's gonna be the easiest class, with an A++ for sure. but if u struggle with numbers, don't take her, she goes super fast. She went through from the first to the last chapter in the book, not kidding!
Very fast teacher. Not very helpful when you need it. Likes to make you feel stupid for asking questions. I wouldnt recommend if you struggle with math.
Do not take her. She does not explain and when you ask questions, she looks at you like you are dumb. Don't take her, she will not help you in anyway.
This teacher does know math, i will give here that. But she cannot teach to save her life. If you ask her a question she looks at you like your a complete idiot, and actually told my entire class that they were idiots. She will not help you if you are having trouble or might be a little rusty on math if it has been awhile. Do not take her.
Hard to understand. Doesn't believe in reviews before test. Doesn't curve. Little extra credit. Does want you to fail. Avoid her like the plague
She is very friendly, but in my opinion not the best teacher. She is very fast and verbal. She will briefly chalk a problem on bored and explain steps. Three tests (start easy and end hard) , 4 easy quiz's, easy extra pop quiz's worth about 25 points. Her final looks nothing like her tests, test format and questions were very different and hard.
Homework is optional, i didn't even buy the book.. 3 tests, a few quizzes, and extra credit pop quizzes.. Class was fun and enjoyable to attend. PARTICIPATE! my class was so quiet, she has a good personality. Went over any problem if asked and in great detail. easy to follow... Uses some hw problems on quizzes, so DO IT
Reviews before every test, homework is extra credit, uses MyMathLab. She's VERY helpful. She makes you think about what you're learning, which helps you learn better.
Great class if you are serious about taking precalculus with a serious focus on learning the material. Tests can be tough, but the class has more than prepared me for cal1. People who don't do well in her class either don't show up, don't pay attention, or shouldn't be there to begin with.
She is the best math teacher I have had hands down! She explains everything and sets you up to pass. HW isnt mandatory and tests are not that bad. I took her for College algebra and pre-calc and enjoyed both.
Professor Holley was one of the BEST math teachers I have ever had. She explained everything clearly and in understandable terms. The homework is optional and so is attendance but combine those two and your are sure to make an A. She is funny and sarcastic but can be taken the wrong way if you can't handle sarcasm. I highly Recommend this teacher.
I took her for Trig. Not a great teacher at all. Doesn't do any proper reviews for her test's and it always challenging everything you say. I never have had to drop a class before her; I am an A student. DO NOT take her.
Took her for Trig and ended up teaching myself with the cd's that came with the book. She teaches too fast, treats you like your dumb if you ask a question,She does know her stuff though, but not a good teacher. Maybe she USED to be.
o.k. teacher, you MUST go to class if you want to understand the material. Online HW and assessments are really easy but don't really reflect the tests. Tests are difficult, you have to study hard for them.
he's so-so. you have to show up and take notes, you miss a day you're screwed. she gets alittle pissed if you ask obvious question but do ask cuz you'll probably need to ask. not my first choice but shes not so bad. she does answer questions via email for hw. hw/quizes are done online. so do your hw 100% and you wont fail.but best find someone else
I took her for both Trig and Pre-Calc (She's better for Trig). She's OK just don't make her piss off.Very strict, if she SUSPECTS ur cheating during test ur screwed. DO UR HW. She dismissed the entire class once bc nobody did the Hw. If u don't understand the material try to reach her, u won't get too much from ur textbook.
All her examples are from the text book but she changes them around. Goes EXTREMELY fast. Only 3 tests. She give pop quizzes a lot. Kids in class talked about how rating were wrong and couldn't agree more. If you're not the best at math.. DO NOT TAKE HER.
If you know math really well, then you should do alright. If you aren't good at math DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!! because you might as well teach yourself. She teaches fast and her tests are super hard. She doesn't use the book except for extra credit. She gets agitated when you ask questions. She made me hate math-AVOID HER!!!!!
class is ok, she goes fast, hw is sooo easy compared to the 3 tests she gives
Unless ur a math wiz or already know your stuff u wont get an A, i advise you not to take her. she is not helpful, her tests are extremely hard and goes thru things fast. Her tests are worth 50% of your grade and the final is 25%. She will not help at all and looks at the class crazy if we dont know the answer.
Does not seem to care about students. Tests are a lot harder than the practice we do and it is almost as if she is trying to trick you on the tests.
No idea what everyone else is on about. Prof Holley was great, she moves along quick sure, it is a summer course so... But while she may be condescending it's not out of animosity, but a desire to teach those who want to be taught. As in everything if you take the class half-assed, that's the grade you'll get....
She makes you feel stupid when it comes to math. She makes tests super hard. For no reason you should take her!
I liked her a lot. She lectures on the topic and makes sure to give a lot of examples in class. Leaves plenty of room for asking questions and is willing to work with her students. I loved her, signed up for her again for the fall! The only downfall was mymathlab :/
Professor Holley was extremely helpful, and explained all subject thoroughly. She was fun in class, and regularly sent emails to update you on grades, class progression, and opportunities to earn extra credit or make up assignments. If I could take her for every math I would.
Prof. Holley is by far the best math professor I have come across at SFC. She explains everything well in class, so take notes! All HW is done online. Prof. Holley has gone out of her way to help her classes, and she genuinely wants her students to do well. If you've had any other math courses at SFC, you will understand why this Prof. is great.
Holley is amazing! This was the second time I took this class and she is a wonderful math teacher. I passed and am so grateful to have had her as a teacher for summer A. If I had to take another math class I would take her in a heartbeat. She explains everything well. Her tests are difficult but they prepare for you well for the final.
holley is amazing, she drops your lowest test score, she's really helpful and considerate and also very fair. the class session before each test/exam is strictly dedicated to the students asking anything they want about the exam. she really got me to understand math.
Holley is the best professor I have had so far at SFC. I recommend her to anyone. If you pay attention in class she teaches you EVERYTHING you need to know to pass. Her pop quizes are extra credit, and she follows the syllabus exatly how it is. Homework is not mandatory but if you do it and have questions, she will work out every problem if needed.
She really knows her stuff, BUT goes through the material VERY FAST! I'm a great note taker but geesh. I couldn't take notes fast enough to understand what she was saying. You MUST have the book for homework to understand the tests, but its not graded, and don't count on the book helping you understand. Kind of a cold lady.:/
Pretty cool teacher. She knows the information very well, but can be very demanding on answers that she won't give you so stay active in the class. The material is a great start for people entering college.
Professor Holley is literally the best instructor I've ever had. I really don't like math, and she is so good at what she does, she literally had me wanting to change my major to mathematics. I know that sounds really dramatic, but it's true. She's sarcastic, but means nothing by it. Do your homework, it's EC, and ask questions about ANY problems.
You are going to get the grade you deserve. She gives some extra credit. She only helps you if you ask for it... don't expect her to care if you don't care. She is VERY FAST but she will talk to you after class if you need her to.
Great teacher, not an easy professor but then again math usually isn't easy. She really understands what she teaches and explains it well. She's a really fair grader on tests. Took her for college algebra and again for precalc.
Holley is a GREAT math teacher. I am terrible at math and she teaches you the material with many examples and in an organized manner. She really helps you understand what you are actually doing and why. You will definitely pass the final exam and you should be able to pass her class. She made math fun for me and I enjoyed taking her class.
Don't take this class IF you need examples broken down. She will write down the problem and get to the answer, but not really break it down to explain how or why you get there. She expects you to get it. If you haven't taken algebra within the year don't expect her to explain it. Great teacher if you are not a visual learner. Go to tutoring as well
GREAT professor! Strict but clear about what she expects, and she makes herself available for questions. Show up in class and pay attention and you'll be fine. She teaches by showing, and she works through each of the pamplets she passes out, making note taking easy. Thumbs WAY up for this teacher!
Probably one of the better math teachers. I hate algebra, but I didn't find her class painful at all. She's very straight forward and will answer any questions. Uses mathlab which is awful, but that's the only down side. I recommend her class any day.
Horrible teacher. She gives you tests on things she never went over.
Holley isn't a bad math teacher, but she isn't the best either. She is regularly tardy. She also is very demanding with in-class participation, and has an attitude with everyone. Like, the attitude of a nine year old. I hate that she uses MyMathLab, as answers on that are often wrong.
Worst professor. has poor teaching techniques, very few assignments and very rare extra credit opportunities. There is barely any prep for the exams, and they are only 3. Take this class if you want to stress like crazy.
I am okay at math and had a feeling that this class would be hard. It was, she is tough. NEED to go and pay attention. She expects you to know everything. She will call you out and make you feel dumb. Is super nice during office hours but stern in class. Will try and trick you on tests! No My math lab. Makes her own tests. Careful she is tough!
You must do all the online assignments in order to have good grade. Try to print the handouts she posts, all exams come based on those handouts. Even though attendance is not mandatory she make group projects non-scheduled.
Horrible Teacher!!!
Take a different teacher. Not helpful- talks down to students. Late to office hours. Test are nothing she goes over in class. HW and Quizzes are on MML.
MML is a major part of the class. If you've never used it before, you should know you can redo homework questions until you get a 100. I suggest writing down all the due dates and checking MML as often as you do with Canvas. She will NOT reopen missed homeworkquizzes and does not go out of her way to be helpful, so consider yourself warned.
Very good teacher, and she is willing to go out of her way to help you. Do the homework and you'll easily pass this course.
Professor Holley was a solid professor. The class is consistent, so everyday you can pretty much expect what we will be doing; unless if there is a pop quiz. If you have a question she answers it and explains thoroughly. Even if you are not so great at math, if you put in the effort, she will help you. Also go to class and ask questions.
Holley was a great Professor, I took her for Summer A to retake Trigonometry. Her pop quizzes counted as extra credit which really helped me. I was struggling and my grade sank as low as a D at one point, but I stuck with the course and ended with a B. Trig is hard, it is what you make it. Holley gives good notes and clear directions. Practice.
Dont take this class. She talks down to you like your stupid when you ask her questions. She can get very rude and upset sometime also. You take a lot of essay style notes and dont do any actual math examples with numbers. I passed but do not reccomend her AT ALL.
She is rude when you try to speak to her about an issue .
I wouldn't recommend taking this teacher. When lecturing, she writes out everything she says (in full sentences), but then doesn't provide examples for practice. The syllabus is the only way to keep track of when the MyMathLab HW/quizzes are due. She answers questions as if they are common sense. (Not as important, but she never greeted the class.)
Heather Holley is a great teacher. Her lectures consists of writing down all the notes on the overhead screen. Basically if you don't pay attention in class you won't understand the homework. Every assignment is on MyMathLab so that book is crucial!! She signs some alone or group projects but that's about it. The extra credit assignments are A LOT.
Professor Holley is an ok teacher. The tests are from the handouts she provides at the beginning of the lesson. THEY ARE HARD SO YOU BETTER STUDY!! She seems intimidating but if you have questions do not let that conflict with you. Uses my math lab so... good luck.
She gave us clear notes, and would answer any questions we had in class. Very pleased with my grade. She used MyMathLab which game us many practice problems, as well as had homework and quizzes on there.
Calculus is tough, Professor Holley is not. She is a little intimidating but very helpful and clear when she lectures. You must be present and do the work if you want to pass. Homework is not mandatory but I highly suggest doing it so you can ask questions when she gives time for review during the next class.
She comes across tough because the class is tough. See her in office hours and she is very nice and helpful. Homework, quizzes, labs, and tests are hard if math is a subject you struggle with. I had to take this class twice and I took it both times with her. She's very thorough but expects you to put in the effort to learn the material. Take her.
Calculus I. One of the best professors I've ever had, math or otherwise. Tests are a bit tricky at times, but Prof. Holley gives so much extra credit that failing this class would be like ln(tan(pi)): impossible. Prof. Holley does plenty of examples and the lectures are fluid. Wish she taught more calc., will miss her. 10/10, Would Recommend.
Prof. Holley is a good teacher. She can be a bit snide sometimes when asking questions, though. She seemed very mean at the beginning of the semester, but lightened up throughout. She definitely knows her Calculus. There are 3 pop quizzes for extra credit. If you come to class and keep up with the homework, the subject is not too hard to master.
Worst teacher I have had in my entire life, she is rude and not helpfull at all , does not care if you have any personal problem aside from College ( which can be a few ). Math is not my favorite course, and this teacher made me realize it a bit more.
Math isn't really my strong point and Prof. Holley was not helping at all. Most homework was based on MML and it isn't even worth much points. The tests and exams are worth way more and she doesn't exactly help you prepare for it either. She does not go out of her way to help out a student and can be rude at times.
She is extremely rude when you ask her questions, if you ask her simple questions she answers you like you're dumb and makes you feel like you're dumb. She does not prepare you well for exams and is really bad at explaining concepts.
Asks a question with a question. Not direct. She really makes you work for your grade and doesn't help out that much. If you take her class prepare to take alot of notes and if you don't go to her lectures you're pretty much screwed.
I was never good at math in high school because I never payed attention or studied. In her class, I payed attention and studied for many hours and still got the same grade. I practiced very hard and still ended with a C. Very disappointing, I would not take her again. She makes you feel dumb when you ask a question. Tough grader, tests are hard.
Test are really hard. Many problems of the test are from the hw.
I have taken calculus before; this course polished my skills. It had been five years of the time I took calculus and I immediately recognized and followed every part of class. With Heather supplemented by exterior practice like Khan Academy, you will be sure that you are mastering the fundamentals of Calculus for the business world.
I haven't taken a Math class in over 3 years, she will actually review the material well. I did take this same class last semester and got a 36 F and didn't learn anything. With professor Holly i got an A, Just do the home work and Study her notes. She will even let you take Pictures of her class notes after Class.
If you need a Calc 1 credit you should probably take someone else if you can. She is very rude when you ask her questions in office hours and more times than not gives you an attitude. The only good thing is that she gives pop quizzes which does help. On the tests, there will usually be 1 question that you've never seen before and have no chance on
A very cool teacher. Pop quizzes (about two per month) are all extra credits gonna given by the end of the semester. All the HW on Webassign and lab question are helpful for the exam. If you just keep up with these things you will do fine and Ace the exams. The only "not good" thing is you have to take a lot of notes during the class.
She's a really good teacher, only has 3 set quizzes and 3 set tests. She also has a few pop quizzes but they're never really pop. She's super nice and super helpful. If you have any questions or requests she will definitely help you out so don't be shy. I would definitely take this class again.
She very clear on topics and always answers any questions. She doesn't waste your time teaching you something you won't be tested on. Just make sure to take notes and do the hw and you should pass the class!
The class was a little intimidating at first, but after a solid review of algebra and trigonometry, the foundation was there. After that it was just practicing the examples and techniques taught in class. three tests, three quizzes, 1 final, and labs make up the grade. She takes the time to make sure material is understood before moving on.
i took prof holly for precalc over summer A while some of the things taught were difficult she really tries to help you as much she can and the pop quizzes are extra credit
Prof. Holley is very thorough in her lectures and it's easy to keep up with her. If you're lost she is open to questions and even stays after for anyone who needs extra help. She does give frequent pop quizzes but they're extra credit and usually pretty easy as long as you paid attention in class. DON'T SKIP! Shes an awesome professor!
STAY AWAY FROM HER. Do not take her, I'm warning you. She cost me an extra semester at Santa Fe by not graduating. Re-took this class with a different professor and went from a D to an A+. How does that happen? Hint: It's the professor. She enjoys watching you struggle and will make you feel stupid and wants to trick you rather than help you pass.
Above all else, professor Holley is an amazing lecturer. She makes everything very clear and concise, and takes a sometimes difficult subject and makes it easy to understand. Copy down all her notes, do all of the optional homework assignments, and her class will be easy.
SAVE YOURSELF THE STRUGGLE! I'm sure there are many other Calculus Professors here much better than her. Her lectures were clear, yes, but her tests were difficult and she took off points for the smallest things. She was SO rude whenever I asked questions about points taken off. I highly do not recommend this Professor. You'd regret it, like me.
If you are someone who struggles with math, stay away from her. She teaches very fast and expects everyone to know what is going. And when she does answer questions they are not very helpful. Lab time was bs. She is not an approachable professor. Quizzes, and tests are ALL on paper. This class was extremely difficult. Find another professor.
I was very blessed to have Professor Holley for MAC2311. She taught the material thoroughly, covering the conceptual topics before moving on to example problems. She was very helpful during office hours, providing further explanations to her students if needed. Overall, she was a wonderful calculus professor.
If you struggle with math, you definitely should not take her. She teaches the lesson super fast and expects everyone to just understand the material simply, which is rarely the case. Shes also super mean and makes sure you know she doesnt want to be helping you, I definitely recommend a different professor.
I know this might not be the best way to describe a professor but there are teschers that cannot teach math because of many reasons, and Ms. Heather is one of them. She definitely goes way too fast while teaching making it so hard to keep up the pace on writing everything down while at the same time youre also trying to understand.
Doesnt review properly before each test, doesnt curve them and she fails so give a good review. You have no idea whats going to be on her exams.A ton of homework but barely counts for your grade. Nice lady though
Shes a very nice lady just a horrible teacher who goes too fast on lectures and doesnt prepare you for the exams
As a human she is nice and approachable. As a professor, she is very impressed with her own handwriting. Endless writing, and example problems, that is just too fast to even be able to take in the material. Had to resort to taking pictures with my phone and then looking them over later to learn. Hardly any homework, tough grader, bad feedback.
Worst professor ever, seriously if youre trying to pass math do not take the class with her. Shes goes so fast during lectures that is impossible to even understand whats going on, she also gets mad if you do not understand the material and when you ask questions she answers you the worst possible way like if she hates you and hates her life.
Toughest teacher, I only took her because she was the last resort. Will never settle for a professor with a percentage thats less than 70 on RMP. Very intimidating, doesn't give good feedback and has no mercy on you. Goes way to fast. She expectes you to know everything after each class. Do not take her!
I took this in summer, maybe it would be ok as a full semester course. She's very fast and expects you to learn everything by the time examples are done, doesn't go over examples clearly. When you asks questions, she's not very friendly about it and doesn't explain much. Tests are hard and worth most of your grade. Find a different teacher
Very dry teacher. Same routine everyday. Class is 100% lecture. There are pop quizzes, but they are extra credit. She knows her math and strictly grades. She can teach fast. And class is very boring. Luckily I knew all of the material already. The class was tough for new learners to Calculus though. There were computer labs. Boring as well.
I had her for trig and pre-calc, she writes non-stop, she does explain the problem as she writes it. She is snippy if you ask questions but make friends and you should be fine.
Goes really fast during lectures and solving problems. I not good about understanding a students question, and never answers the questions you ask, just reiterates the question being asked. Do not take this class if you are new to the subject
She does NOT care about her students and very good students struggle to do well on her tests. If you do not have any prior knowledge for calculus. Take another professor such as Cabral if you care about your grades.
She is not bad. Lectures are very basic going through each problem. She expects you to know the material and doesn't hold your hand. If you have a question she will answer it with a very limited response. She marked a question wrong that I had right on my test and fixed it- dont expect extra points. She is nice with bonus pop quizzes however.
Professor Holley is hyper-articulative so if you are slower paced with your learning than I would not really recommend her. But if you have seen trig before and want to have a class that isn't prioritized on teaching without presumed knowledge than she is for you. She grades hard but for your benefit. If you have her review the worksheets alot.
She gives a lot of work but most of them are extra credit. I recommend the class.
Professor Heather is great! She gives out mini "pop" quizzes that are for extra credit. She is very easy to talk to and gives thorough lectures. Attendance is important as she'll emphasize key points to know for a quiz or a test. She replaces your lowest test score with the final (if it is higher). Homework is due at the end of the week, on Sunday.
Literally ANY time anyone in my class asks her a question, she just answers our questions with the same question and she gets genuinely mad that you don't understand. She gives the most vague directions and expects you to catch on in the blink of an eye. Teachers should be people that want to help you, and she ain't it. Do NOT recommend!!
I learned very early on not to ask questions. If you do choose to ask a question, be prepared for a rude response and grim stare back at you. Just a genuinely mean person. The only good thing about taking this class is
Her notes are neat, but she goes very fast and can be very confusing because of it. I took trig in high school and I did well but I could tell she was trying to cram the material in this class. She was not very understanding about much and did not give a ton of extra credit, but there were some. You definitely need to study if you want to pass.
This class was intimidating at first because she speaks and writes very fast, but she is an amazing lecturer. She explains the concepts very thoroughly before moving onto the examples. She gives examples for every possible situation. Re-write the notes, study, and do the homework after each class and before the next. She is a little unapproachable.
Ms, Holley cares about her students and all you have to do is pay attention to her lectures and look over notes. doing this alone, i was able to get by with almost an A. There is homework on Webassign and this is usually due once or twice a week depending on how many she opens at once. You'll be fine if you take her.
Professor Holley is one of the best math teachers I've had, as she explains lessons very clearly. The homework is great practice, and the tests are actually relevant to the material she teaches specifically. Pop quizzes are easy as long as you show up to class everyday also.
She doesn't answer emails, and I have never talked to her this whole semester. There's homework assigned every week, and it's ALL self study. I pick up math pretty easy so I have a high A. Quizzes and Tests are based off the stuff on the powerpoints and homework which is good. But if you don't learn well by yourself, I do not recommend.
I'll be honest. I did not speak to Prof. Holley once this semester. There are 1-3 homeworks due Sundays and a quiz every 3rd week or so. You get 2 attempts at each question and you can answer 3 times per attempt. You can ask a question on the problem itself and come back to the homework a little later and she'll have answered it.
The class is fully online so you'll never actually meet with her even on zoom, if that's not your cup of tea best better switch classes. She posts powerpoints with the process but it's not that helpful unless you have a good understanding of trig and don't care to learn that much. She is accessible through email.
Worst professor I've ever had. I couldn't gain access to her online class because she uses a website outside of canvas and I emailed her multiple times and she never helped me it was basically a "not my problem" kind of response. The assignments I missed due to this she wouldn't open back up. Had no leniency and didn't care about her students.
I took this online over the summer. I would not recommend this professor if you don't have a semi-decent background in trig! The lectures were very dry and hard to listen to. Tests are worth 55% of your grade. Not my favorite...
Prof Holley is amazing! She always responds to any questions you have. It is a good and easy class to take in the summer however if you are not good at math I do recommend taking a whole semester for it
Worst Professor I've ever had. There were multiple times when I would ask for help with materials or for tips to help with taking the super hard exams she always posts, and she would just tell me to read the text book, no real help. Beware of her exams and tests too because she never gives enough time for the massive amount of questions included.
I am a straight A student and I had to withdraw. 1) her tests are WAY harder than her homework questions. 2) She gives you lab assignments that are on NEW material every Monday and they're due within 4 HOURS of receiving the assignment. 3) each class is on a new topic! Unapproachable and does not want to help her students. Hates when you ask Q's.
Ive never been great at math but I feel like I learn extremely well in her class with her new teaching, I love that she prints out worksheets and does them in class with you that way you have to practice the WebAssign homework with an example, I do recommend her as she is very nice and definitely likes to help students out.
TBH I never talked to professor Holley all semester. The lectures she posts are very vague bc she expects you are also reading the textbook. There are 2 homework assignments every week, a quiz every 3 weeks, and a 3 tests total. The tests have a ton of questions for the amount of time given, but are not too difficult. You teach yourself everything
She was an amazing professor. I have always heard that trig is extremely hard, but she made it very easy to understand. The book is not mandatory to read (its on WebAssign), but I do recommend watching the videos. There are things she doesnt go over in class, that will be on the exam but are explained in the videos.
Worse professor I have ever had. I have never made below a B in my life and I worked extremely hard ended up with a C. Homework does not match notes. Tests are super hard. there was only 3 tests and an exam. Nothing matches her notes in class. Her tests are 50% of your grade. Do not take this class!!! Does not care about her students at all.
Absolute terrible professor. Makes you buy WebAssign (I hate doing homework outside Canvas), no lectures (you just read the textbook). Doesn't post on canvas so check WA everyday. Overall just looks like she is doing teaching as a chore and spends like 5min a day on doing her job.
Truly the worst teacher I had ever had. I mean it when I say she is extremely mean. She teaches as if you guys should already know the work. 4 big exams worth 50% of your grade. I would not recommend signing up for her unless you want to struggle.
Do not take this class if you have a lacking background in calculus. You will spend 3-4 hours a week teaching yourself the material. Be ready to understand concepts after only practicing them twice. Test heavy and were nothing like the study guide.
She was very kind throughout the entire semester, however, I really struggled to keep up in this class. We only briefly cover the material in class, which requires you to teach yourself. I devoted hours on hours of time studying and still barely made it with a low B.
She is not approachable and gets irritated when you ask her questions. Tests are much harder than study guides and homework. You will walk into the test feeling confident because you studied for hours, but look at the test and it looks like a different language. Be prepared to attempt to teach yourself, but it will not be enough
Very kind and easy to understand, I generally struggle with math and made it out of her class alright. Use her lecture notes and study hard!
Homework does not match the tests. Doesnt explain much during lectures, just writes down notes. Very hard to follow along, if you dont have a good basic background of trig and geometry do not take her.
Prof. Holley was by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Ive never felt so disrespected by someone; she thinks she is above you as a human because she has some sort of "power". I would ask her for help on the work assigned and she spoke to me like I was incompetent and stupid. I have never made a D on an exam until this class.
Worst professor I have ever had. Not a nice person and has a bad attitude.
The worst professor I have ever had. Didn't give me the proper information or resources to pass any tests, and doesn't even bother trying to help with any problems.
I just wouldn't even bother. Test's are half of your grade, if she moves the due date on an assignment there is virtually no warning. Drops the lowest 2 HW assignments which I guess is nice. Lowest or missed quiz gets replaced with quiz average, (which makes no sense). It was an OK class, but I'd go a different direction.
Professor Holley was so rude and disrespectful and has no care for you as a person. I had surgery done and it was a hassle to get assignments extended even with a doctors note. Her lectures go very fast and left me stuck at times with nowhere to go for help. Expects you to know everything. I would not recommend taking this professor.
There isn't much to say about professor Holley. She for sure knows the subject matter. But she couldn't care less about anybody in the class. The main thing I can remember about her is that she just didn't care. Don't even think about asking a question about something on the syllabus.
took her for trig and now survey calc and both classes she is really good with explaining everything. if you suck at math shes the teacher to take. awesome professor. drops 2 quiz and lab grades.
She was good with teaching the subject but her attitude towards students was not the best. Did feel hesitant to ask questions because it did feel like she would be annoyed. My overall interactions with her were ok, but not the same when talking with other students. I would only have her again because I understood how she taught the lessons.
Professor Holley has a teaching style that requires a lot of self-study. While not the most approachable, her lessons are valuable if you put in the work. unstuckstudy ai was a lifesaver for practice and understanding concepts when struggling.
While a good lecturer with understandable material, Professor Holley made me feel stupid everytime I asked a question in class. Other students expressed to feel the same way. She would seem annoyed at students for answering questions in class and seemed like she didn't want anyone asking questions ever.
Don't let my final grade fool you. Prof Holley is very rude when answering you and won't answer questions unless you gave an example of the topic you don't get. She called out sick a lot and if you missed a class she expected you to ask others for that day's notes. Don't take unless you're confident in your math abilities and are able to self-teach
I read the reviews and I thought she couldn't be that bad, and I was wrong. If you're a normal person, you might pull a C. She is very angsty and looks at you like you're an alien if you ask a question. Going to class, paying attention, doing homework and studying 2 days before test's isn't enough. Need to pay for web assign for $135, take another.
Not that accessible if you have questions and is not flexible to people's hardships. Don't expect any leniency with her. Her online lectures are terrible all she does is read the slide and underline. I read the reviews but unfortunately didn't have another choice. If you do have a choice do not select her!!
If you are not great at math, don't take this class. The teacher is not good at making tests, and the tests make up a large majority of your final grade. She will give you questions on the test that she didn't go over in class.
Took this class over the summer and unfortunately it was the worse math instructor I have ever had. VERY mean, unprofessional and hard to work with. No corrections or feedback over the exams, tough grader. Don't choose this teacher, get a real professor that's willing to teach.
Very straight forward and clear with everything. Will remind you of due dates. She explains concepts interestingly, and easy to understand. Test are not much different than the homework. Do not feel intimidated by her, she is not mean, just point blank.
Excellent professor. She explains everything clearly and assign lots of HW to help u train your skills. Her online quizzes (3) and in person tests (3) are similar to the HW. She has an extra credit right before the final worth 3% points. Tests make up 52% of your grade.
left a bad review middle of the smester, take it back shes actually the GOAT.
Holly is one of those rare instructors who balances high standards with genuine care for her students. She is undeniably strict, but that strictness comes from a clear desire to see everyone succeed. From day one, expectations are clearly laid out, and she holds students accountable for their work, deadlines, and effort.
Her lectures are so clear and she is very good at explaining things. I was worried because this was my first calculus class, but she made everything so easy to understand and answered all of your questions. She can be kind of scary and intimidating, but I respect that. Her tests are hard, definitely study lots and you should be fine.
