Dr. Hopgood is insanely smart, and that shows when she teaches. However, CHEM 1210 is already fast-paced, and the fact that she is an expert makes her hard to follow sometimes. Posts powerpoints on tophat, which helps with that. Nice lady, gets back to you quickly, and genuinely tries to help students in the small amount of class time. New teacher.

She treats the lecture like a classroom, walking around to help you with your in class problems on your computer. She talks really fast, but will help you in and outside of class if you need it. She doesn't normally post her slides online, so go to class!

Professor Hopgood gives you multiple ways to try and understand the material. I didn't use my textbook ONCE. You use TopHat, which is online slides and interactive problems everyday in class, and it's kinda fast paced but just make sure you understand. Also, the TA's usually grade tests wrong, so you can get points back if you try.

this class was very difficult, and the flipped classroom model doesn't help with having to spend hours almost nightly teaching yourself the material. she really is a good person, the course is just ROUGH. exams are hard, and the final is much easier and will boost your grade A LOT. if you take this alongside bio you def need to find balance.

Be prepared to teach yourself everything. I understand it's a flipped classroom but it made learning way more difficult than it needed to be. She explains things to us like we are toddlers instead of explaining it the way we need to learn. We also have ALEKS homework which took me about 3 hours per assignment because she did not teach us in class.

DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!! This is the worst class I have ever taken. If you're going to OU for nursing, just don't. They make the pre-reqs impossible to pass. I had to take this class twice and still failed. You learn nothing, you can't cheat, and the average on her exams is a 60. just go to a different school for nursing.

If you're in the nursing program and have her for chemistry don't stress out. Her class is homework heavy so just DO YOUR ALEKS. Skipping and falling behind on ALEKS is the #1 reason people fail. Take notes on her videos BEFORE class. As long as you stay on top of your assignments and don't slack off the class is really enjoyable. I LOVED Hopgood.

This course is hard, however Dr. Hopgood is a great professor. The practice exams are just like the actual ones and she has very open office hours and is willing to help. You will get what you put into this course.

Dr. Hopgood would do well in a smaller class where she could explain complex topics directly instead of over-simplifying. The flipped classroom model ends up placing more responsibility on students, which I really don't like. As others mentioned, you get out what you put in, and if you don't invest time or attend PALs, don't expect a good grade.

Overall, she was an amazing professor. Her class style is a "reversed" classroom, so all the learning is on you, and she just helps you practice. This is a great set up for chem, and she's super helpful. She gives great feedback, is encouraging, approachable, and accessible.

She is an amazing professor, what you get out of this class is what you put in! She is so helpful during office hours and I was able to make a great connection with her. Her out of class work is a lot but is crucial to get buffer points to make it easier to pass. She gets a bad rep because of her class but it is not her choice what she teaches.

Dr.Hopgood made this class managable. She has a "flipped" class where all lecture videos are assigned out of class. I was scared of this originally, but couldn't imagine it any other way now. Go to PAL sessions, her office hours, do her practice exams, do the ALEKS. Don't lose points on easy things! Hopgood gets a bad rep but its just a hard class!

While it is a very difficult and content heavy course Professor Hopgood creates a space where you can succeed if you put in effort inside and outside of the classroom! Her classroom it set up flipped so lectures are expected to be watched prior to attending class, and examples are worked through during class!

Dr. Hopgood's class is very tough but very doable. She gives you numerous resources to help you pass, the best being partial credit on exams. Do not skip class, it's the only way you actually learn the material. Go to PAL and office hours, do your aleks and watch your lectures and you won't get lower than a B. She's super nice too!!

A lot of people give Dr. Hopgood a hard time because chemistry is a difficult course but if you put in the work you will be fine. Don't even think about getting behind on ALEKS!! She is super kind and accessible outside of class and won't stop until you understand something... IF YOU take accountability and ask for help when you need it. Good luck!

This is a HARD course. I took this class because it filled all of my chemistry requirements in 1 class. That being said it feels like your taking 3 separate classes. Lab is easy, lecture wasn't really that helpful. She just gives you practice problems for an attendance grade and you really don;t get an in depth analysis of anything.

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE !!! Take it at a cc and transfer it, she is awful and does not teach at all. the flipped classroom is awful, lecture is tophat questions she barely explains but expects you to know, Lab is easy but barely lined up with lecture. She does have Top Hats for attendance, but you do not have to be there. I personally enjoyed having her as a professor, but you HAVE to go to lecture regularly to receive a good grade, I swear that is the only reason I was successful in this course. There is A LOT of material, but if you keep up it is not too bad.

As nutrition student this class is useless it's more for nursing students
