She is a hard professor, but just get in study groups. I would say she is pretty hot but that doesn't make the class easier! Her exams are very similar to the book problems. Also memorize the assumptions for each statistical graph for the final exam.

I liked her, but many of my friends haven't. She was tough, but it is stats after all.
She is not a good teacher. She gets annoyed when you ask questions or go to her office for help. She gets distracted & disorganized very easily. Her tests have nothing to do with the work done in class. I was lucky I had had calc 1 beforehand...
Some people didn't like her, I thought she was a pretty good teacher. Goes kind of fast at times and gets mad if you don't answer her questions or dont respond to her, but overall she's pretty good
She is the reason I failed stats! I went in for help all the time and she would get frustrated with me! I retook stats with another teacher and got a B!! DO NOT TAKE HER!
really hard
She is a bad teacher. She gets mad if you do not understand what you're doing in class. I get confused by everything she talks about. Her tests have nothing to do with what we learn in class. Don't take her for applied calc!!!
She teaches at a pretty fast rate and treats the students like they are stupid. One of her favorite things to say is, "If you can't do this, you probably shouldn't be in this class." She doesn't seem like she wants to help you outside of class
She is very prescise
do not take her. she gets mad if you ask questions, or for help. our class nick name term for her was "math nazi"
She went way fast and seemed rude in class but when you went for one on one help i thought she seemed to be very helpful. definitely, if possible find a different teacher for this unless you want to spend 2-3 hours a night doing calc homework
Not very helpful. She doesn't seem to work problems out a head of time so examples take a long time as she tries to figure them out. Instead of explaining she simply repeats what she did already. Lots of people did bad on homework.70% on homework was an
very good. at first she comes off as a little 'high strung'. she gets better though...and is always willing to offer extra help. if you put the time into you will do well.

Overall, the course was very difficult. The sheer quantity of material covered was rough. Expectations were too high, judging by the 1000 points possible over the entire semester. Ouch!
If you are tired of having boooooring math teachers who stand there and lecture you all day, this is the teacher for you. She is interactive, will learn your name and your talent (or not) and is an engaging teacher. She's tough though, but honest.
This woman has a fake Australian accent, erases examples from board before you finish copying them, gets angry at students who ask for help during class, she tells you that it is the most difficult class ever when it is not, dont waste your time
heard she is not going to be here next year... great news for future students. i have retaken this class with a different professor and it is a world of difference. class isn't easy by any means but hulett makes it bad. tests=hard
She is sooo helpful. If you are willing to put in the effort and time, she is a great prof to take. Tries to make it relate to the real world so u can understand. Also is sooo nice!! She is my favorite prof so far...
absolutely excellent explanations of theories with applications to support it. Smart yet can be hard on students that obviously don't do homework. cant blame her for that. id be pissed too.
gets upset if you don't understand what she says
Got bad vibes in the beginning of the semester, but she grows on you. She is tough and comes off to be a ****, but she's fair. Don't be afraid to ask questions, she'll like you better. Only take her if you want to LEARN! Not a blow off class/teacher.
just a ****
One of the worst classes i have ever taken and all due to this teacher. If you like graded homework EVERY day, when was the last time a teacher did that, 9th grad. Or if you like 1 to 2 pop quizes a week. This is the teacher for you. Made me not want to care. Tests are ridiculous. Stay AWAY
she won't even return emails!
Absolutely the worst teacher of the math Deparment, if not the entire university. Hand in homework every day. Flies though 1-2 sections a day and then says "read it and learn it". The kind of teacher that makes you want to get a D so that you can retake it next semester with a different professor
The class is tough, and she really doesnt make it any easier. However, she is a good professor if you are willing to be a good student. If you ever get stuck, go to her office. She will practically bend over backwards to help out if you go to her office. I would take her again.
horrible, for the same reasons written in previous ratings.
Horrible teacher. Demeaning, homework everyday, doesn't know how to handle questions. She'll let you know that she knows it all and then proceed to not teach you any of it.
SUCKS. hw everyday that's not graded fairly. you have to learn the stuff on your own if you want to do well in this class because she doesn't teach it well. take someone else if at all possible.
Take this professor if you desire Unclear Lectures and Homework Every Night(ahhh...the fond memories of high school). She also Locks the Door after Start of Class and Yells at students for not Understanding her Confusing Lectures. Be Prepared to Read your Text Book. She acts Smart but is Not.
SHe started off an ok teacher but then seemed like she stopped teaching. Everything is a verbal explanation not many examples so that is hard. She's better if you go in and ask for help
An absolutly horrendious teacher. Has no patience with students. Gives out homework daily...........Can you say "Heather Hitler"???
Very hard, but all math classes are hard. If you do the homework and show interest into the material you'll do fine.
She is about the worst math prof you could take. Her class is literally agony, and oh yeah, she grades the daily assignments on accuracy for points...welcome back to highschool!!!
She doens't really teach the material very well and grades the assignments fairly tough. By the way, there is homework every night. She will be pretty helpful if you go into her office for extra help, but still may be a little impatient with you.
The class is really tough but all stats classes will be. She does a decent job of explaining the material but you should do the daily homework to keep up with what she's teaching. Not as bad as everyone says... if you come to class and show effort, she will like you and you'll do just fine.
Ok calc 2 is a hard class that is a given. I passed it with her by working my ass off. Loves her proofs. Notes make no sense because they are all proofs. Really doesn't teach you how to actually do something. Also likes putting problems she can barely do on tests. Started with close to 30 people in our class and ended with 13. Its passable, but hard
Her Class is rediculous. She will explain everything as if she hates being here. If you ask a question she will give you a look that says "Why the **** don't you understand this? If you enjoy contributing in class you're already screwed. No matter how right you are she will refuse to admit it.
basically if you dont seek help you wont recieve it and she wont give a crap about your grade. expects you to know the material prior to the class and that ur able to learn from a book. seems to have no interest in the class. MY HS CALC 2 TEACHER IS BETTER THAN HER
she blows! i was sick and throwing up with bronchitis and she wouldnt allow a makeup exam. she is too hard for a class everyone has to take, pretty much. DONT TAKE HER!
she seriously is the worst prof ive ever had. she doesnt explain anything and doesnt even know whats shes talking about half the time, seriously me and a buddy in that class keep a count of how many times she gets stuck doing an example problem during each class, its just sad....
Bad, bad, bad..If you want a class where you're not expected to pass take it. The first thing she said was I don't expect you to pass this on your own. Puts proofs on weekly exams. Extremely difficult and intimidating. Get a professor thats not her, and you'll be much happier.
Professor Hulett is the type of professor you have nightmares about in high school, she makes you feel like you are STUPID and wasting her time.Even if you LOVE math she'll make you hate it, AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I believe she is skitzo, she does not want her students to do well in class, she takes points off for EVERYTHING making it impossible to do well in the class unless you study like 4 hours a night, which she expects. She is unclear and if something isnt done how she likes, its wrong. Stay away from her on all levels.
Extremely challenging class in general, but this woman does not help. Demeaning attitude in general, and loves her proofs!!! Often gets confused when explaining examples in class, tests are always a challenge. I've heard she's helpful if you go in to see her, but she doesn't seem nice in class!
after reading the rater guidelines i had to start my rating over...there wasn't any part of my post that didn't violate one portion or another. question: how does someone like her get hired, moreover married or befriended? bottom line: don't take her.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! She is the kind of person which i expect has square toes. She does not care if you pass or fail her class. Her tests are hard and she moves quickly. She has a bad attitude. In her mind her class is the only class. If you want a hard and unfun class with a teacher that does not care about you, this is the class for you.
She is a two faced evil person. She does not care about her students succeeding and understanding the material. I think she has a fetish for frustrating her students. she thinks shes miss queen bee!! avoid her if at all possible!
She's terrible! she's one of those evil people that treat u like crap and confuse you but do it with a smile on their face--like thats supposed to make it better, grrrrrrr is all i have to say.
How she got hired, I have no idea. She thinks she is miss perfect & makes her students feel stupid & look stupid in front of the class if they ask questions. She writes like a novel on the board & all you do is sit & copy what she writes but youll have no idea what shes talkin about. Whatever you do, dont take her!
This teacher is what i like to call HORRIBLE and other words i cannot say. Her tests are too long and hard and she makes fun of you for asking questions. If you take this teacher you are dumb...so dont be dumb and avoid her as a professor cause anyone would be better
You can never explain what she is teaching and when you ask questions she make you feel like your the stupidest person for asking. She gives you test that are to long for the hour time period and then when you aren't finish at the end of class she treats you as if your stupid even though practically the whole class is still there. AVOID HER
She has mood swings during class-she'll be happy and then just snap on you. Her tests are hard and she grades kind of hard. She's very pick about how you word your answers....putting an 's' can mean 2 points off if you forget it! The class sucks! If you can, take another professor!
very mean, very bad teacher, i did not like going to class, DO NOT TAKE HER as a teacher, she will screw you over, her tests are impossible, i knew the subject material but did not do well on her tests
The stuff she puts on test and quizzes is totally not the same stuff she teaches in class. She doesn't really seem like she understands the material sometimes. Overally just a pain in the heinie. I managed to get a C out of it but still, very bad teacher.
She comes across very hard, but she is very willing to help if she knows you're trying. I still go to her with questions when my own professors are not available.
she is not good. comes across very demeaning. plus she kinda looks like john denver. and we all know from our friends harry and lloyd..."that john denver's full of _____." only take her if you have to.
TAKE ELFASSNI!!! THIS **** IS CRAZY <-- i failed teh first test and she refuesd to show me my grade when i told he i was planning on dropping. SHE WILL TRY TO **** YOU OVER (she has stated that class is designed to FAIL 1/2 of you, hows that for stats?)
i have a problem for her...what is the probability of at least 90% of her students hating her class? probably pretty high. do not take her. avoid her classes like the plague.

At first it seemed kind of iffy, and most of the class dropped, but I ended up liking her as a professor. She is really nice as long as you put some effort in, and wants you to do well. Really willing to help outside of class and do more examples in class if you ask. Just try to stay on top of things and she'll do what she can to help.
makes things way more complicated than they need to be. only helps if she feels like being nice. likes to provide easy examples in class then give way more complex quiz and test questions... overall she's no good
I can say with 95 % confidence that most of you will hate this class and especially the phrase “95% confident.” Class was pretty tough because her quizzes and exams were more difficult than homework problems. Study Study Study else you do poorly.
if you want a generally easy class made extremely difficult she's your lady... I was simply amazed at how hard she was able to make statistics. She is also VERY picky with answers and i feel that your test grades are strongly influenced by her attitude towards you
Holy cow. That pretty much sums it up right there. She really took something that could've been easy and made it into something that failed half the class. The tests were not easy at all. I could do all the math parts right but not write the definitions exactly how she wanted and ended up with a D. STAY AWAY!

Good Ability, Asks a lot
A HARD CLASS which is supposed to be easy..Grading tests, she takes off points with some bs reasons. She makes easy stuff extremely difficult. If she starts disliking u, she will always be mad at you for every little thing that's done by u that annoys her. Deciding to keep taking her class was the worst mistake I've ever made.
Dr. Hulett was an absolutely amazing professor. Her tests were very easy as long as you did your homework. She is a very interesting person to talk to and is extremely helpful. I would take her every semester if I could!
I have always done pretty well in school...she was the first professor I have not liked and couldn't learn from...i transferred schools and I got an A at the college I attend now...SHE IS HORRIBLE and MEAN! Don't take her you will end up dropping like I did or end up wishing you had.
I took this class and got a B. You really have to work your ass off but in the end its worth it. Do the homework everyday and review a LOT. get on her good side by asking lots of questions. If she likes you I think it helps with grading.
It's honestly not that hard, I don't know why people have a problem with her. I mean, you have to do the homework as with any class, and there's a lot of material but that's what stats is about. And she has been helpful to me at least so if you really want to learn take her.
She is awful. Does not explain material clearly many times. You can only solve problems her way otherwise even if your answer is right. Avoid her at all costs.
its like she's a demon that emerged from hell to torment college students. pure evil. anyone but her
She is a horrible teacher. even if you do the homework she words the questions on the quizzes and tests way different. there are quizzes every week and she takes a lot of points off for little things that don't affect the answer of the problem in the end. avoid her at all costs.
She is a horrible teacher. Doesn't care about the students and moves way to fast(6 chapters in two weeks). BAD TEACHER. Worst I have ever had!
I don't know where to begin....i suggest taking her if you want to feel suicidal at the end of every quiz...depressing lady
I'm a little surprised at the rest of these comments. I took this class and have been reccomending this teacher to my friends. It's a lot of material, but I found this professor's logic very easy to follow and understand. You've gotta do the work but hello? this is a college math class! if you cant handle it now, take it as a soph/junior.
I absolutely hate Hulett. Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. If you are a teachers pet kinda person, she will maybe like you enough to give you an A. Otherwise you are screwed. I HIGHLY advise not taking her classes.
I am very suprised that a college with the caliber of La Crosse wouldn't check into her teaching ability and expect more from a faculty member. The students are the ones that are paying her wages. We should be able to have some say in what she does, but it just seems like we are stuck on our own.
As I read through all of these comments, it's pretty sad when she (Hulett) has to come in and write good things about herself. Shes just that kind of lady to pull something like that. Read through and see if you can spot them! Their obvious
Worst professor at UW-L. She doesn't care about her students or their grades. The average on one of our test was a 55 and she didn't curve it. That fact alone should speak clearly about her. AVOID IF POSSIBLE!!!
Horrible! I went in for help and left crying because she made me feel that stupid. She expected me to know what she is talking about, but she does not clarify it well enough. I never went in for help from her again, and I hope I never have to take her class again!
I actually took her 2 years ago and looked back at these ratings out of curiosity....sadly it looks like professor Hulett still sucks
worst teacher i have ever had in my life. never take her if you want a life.
Honestly people, this class isn't that hard, I'm getting an A, even though i might be the only person in the class with an A, I don't even take notes and barely study. She is very clear when she goes over stuff, The Test/Quizes are exactly what she teaches. She isn't the nicest person in the world but you learn alot and isn't that bad of a class.
I took Calc in high school and got an A but in her class I am getting a C. She takes off for silly mistakes and makes the tests pretty hard.
wow, it's week one and i feel like i've entered hell. she is rude and expects us to know everything without her talking about it. she says, anything is fair game. this class is terrible, take at your own risk, she is a sas!!
It was a struggle to keep up and make sense of all the new material coming in everyday. I didn't like the stress or pressure of the quizes coming up at the end of the week, every week...She was a harsh grader, espeacially on the smallest of mistakes, perfection is key...I feel she has favoerites to the students who are perfect = biased on grading?
Heather is quite possibly the worst professor ever. She is demeaning, and offers no help. The only kids who are getting good grades are the suck ups who stay after and chat and probably go back to the underworld with her for some coffee. If you have any other option, even death, take it, it will be far better than this gramatically challenged woman
Never teaches you to use your calculator for anything, have to do everything by hand. She isn't very helpful, has favorites, and gets angry over the smallest things, including not knowing the answer to a question we haven't talked about before. You can get an PASSING grade in the class without a ton of effort. Would recommend anyone over her.
takes pride in knowing she knows the material and you dont. Takes points off for no reason. you have to do perfectly in order to get a decent grade. Unless you did really well in a highschool calc class dont take her. She expects you know or catch on quickly
when i first saw these, i thought maybe they were too harsh and i figured i could get through mth 145 even with her as a teacher because i have taken higher math courses and done fine in them. turns out i was wrong. very tough teacher...have to do it her way even if the book teaches differently or else it is wrong. dont take her if at all possib
Heather Hulett....her teaching is clear, but her tests are disgustingly hard, it's like integrating the alphabet, all over x squared. Do every single problem on the homework if you want anything close to a decent grade. Bottom line, dont take her
Do not take this professor!! I thought everyone was being to hard on her. I was wrong! I went in for help and she basically yelled bc I didnt know what I was doing. Taking it again with PEIRCE right now so much better might get an A instead of a D
I hate this teacher, not only does she have mood swings but she nitpicks and takes off points for sooo many things I have had right its ridiculous I am probably going to drop because of her crazy hard standards and take again with someone not so crazy. Avoid her please oh please avoid her.
Very nitpicky!!! Even if a couple words off, she will take points off! If you do it a different way, still wrong
i dont even want to write anything here because heather hullet is a wast of my life.
Absolutely Terrible. Worst teacher i have ever had
The worst teacher I've had. Regret not looking her up before taking the class. She thought a class average of a 63% was good... thats not good. Everything must be perfect!!! Put a < instead of a >... thats 10 wrong right there. quiz ever week. she is a crazy, horrible teacher. Beginning of the year, no open chairs...end of semester all open tables
very very tough teacher DO NOT take
I am awful at math. I was terrified going into statistics. Prof Hulett is NOT easy, but I didn't expect any different. If I-who mind you, SUCKS at math-can pull off an AB in the class, anyone can. Just study! The tests are hard, not impossible! She curves it when the grades are bad on the exams and she drops your lowest. Put a little effort in it.
A quiz every week. Online quizzes due every other day, and sometimes 3 due within a 24 hour, with one due 2 hours before our tests. Horrible teacher. Horrible class.
Very inconsiderate when helping students. Very poor wording and question placement on assignments, which lead to worse grades on quizzes. I leave everyday with more questions than answers. All I hear from others is how easy stats is, but with Hulett nothing is. She is full of negative attitude and did NOT help our learning environment one bit.
She had a very strange way of teaching. After over half of the class dropped she lost her sour attitude and was much easier to get along with. When posed with stupid questions she didnt put up with it, but if you had a REAL question that she didnt cover, she was really helpful. I thought she was pretty good.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. Useless quizzes due practically every day, and she doesn't collect homework. Takes points off exams and quizzes for ridiculous, irrelevant things. Acts like you're stupid for daring to ask a question. Uses the textbook but lectures don't line up with the textbook. Don't take her if you can avoid it.
The comment before me says avoid if you can. A helpful hint: Avoid even if she's the only one left (which happens every semester). Its much more worth your time to wait until the next semester to get someone else. Does a decent job at explaining, but can "grade into the negatives" on tests and quizzes. If you're smart, you'll wait. Trust me.
I know everyone says this, but she really is the worst prof I've ever had. quizzes every week, book homework and online homework, random pop wksheets, marks answers wrong if not worded or labeled exactly how she says, random attendance, tests very difficult, and just plain mean to students. I cringed every time I heard her speak. Warning Don't Take
Rude, rude, rude!! and won't explain how to do anything she teaches. she makes you feel stupid if you ask her a question and makes you feel very unwelcome if you visit her during her office hours. I would advise against having her as your prof. if you do decide to take her, have fun doing online quizzes on a Saturday, every Saturday...
I felt like I had a hard time because of the material itself. If math isn't your thing, beware. But she is really nice and helpful if you go to her at office hours or after class. But if you take her class STUDY STUDY STUDY
If you're not willing to put any effort into the class don't take her, but if you're willing to study, do ALL the homework, and ask questions you should be fine. This class takes a lot of dedication if you want to get an A but as long as you're a good student and actually try she'll work with you.
If your on her good side she is very helpful and nice. You need to put in a lot of studying time to pass her weekly quizes and midterm tests. Overall I would recommend if your motivated to study the material and remember to ask questions!
She is by far the worst prof on campus she picks favorites and if your not one you don't get partial credit and she gives her favorites more of s curve don't take her unless you want to be a kiss ass to her all semester
Huelett is not that bad. Math is not my strong subject, and this class will be really difficult if you're in the same boat. She has her own sense of humor which can be taken for being rude. She's helpful if you're not disrespectful to her. Take Hulett if you are strong at math, otherwise I'd recommend a different teacher.
She is the worst professor I have ever had. She makes you feel stupid for asking questions and even if you study and know what you are doing on her tests, they are very hard to finish on time. I have no idea how she is still teacher here. She grades very harshly and is not very clear during lecture. Do not get her if you have a choice.
Did not care for her. Favoritism very noticeable. I got all A's in high school, even calc and I struggled to pass this course. Her teaching style is not helpful and she tells you to ask questions but when you do she makes you feel stupid. Dont recommend her.
Terribly Vindictive and unprofessional women. Posters are right she does pick favorites. She snipes with her words and is extremely passive aggressive. Attendance not mandatory however if you don't attend she will grade your exams harder. Terrible professor
Very rude, thinks she knows EVERYTHING! If you ask a question she'll make you sound stupid, even if you catch her on a mistake. I re took stats the next semester and did a million times better, funny. Most unprofessional woman ever! I went to her office to talk to her about an emergency and she told me she didn't care about my excuse to miss, wow
I was pretty nervous after reading the comments about Hullet but I think thats what made me do okay in her class. If you are prepared for it you'll do well, but its not easy. Talking to her does help some.
Unclear about what she wants you to know and about what will be on tests and quizzes. She is not helpful, usually makes you not want to ask questions in class. Makes a lot of mistakes(yet expects you not to)and is just a bad instructor.
worst teacher or my entire life. she is rude, impatient, and demoralizing. she claims to teach from the book, but she does not. i once caculated the right answer using the formula from the book, she marked it wrong because i didnt use her method. she is very territorial and domineering. trys to teach and keep order through intimidation. terrible.
A very harsh grader and should not be teaching math. The way she teaches the material is not clearly understood and half of my class dropped her class
Hard teacher, grades ridiculously hard and marks answers wrong if you do not word it to her likings. Too much word notes when this is math which will confuse you. Don't recommend taking.
Very very hard teacher....teaches through proofs, expects you to memorize things word for word. It is possible to get an A if you have 4 hours a night open to study. Loves her pop quizes. She is nice outside of class though.
Worst teacher in my entire academic career. Consistently forgets some of the things shes suppose to teach you and also makes many mistakes, yet expects you to have perfect answers even if she taught you wrong. Never have I received lower than a C on any math work, and even with studying, I failed 2/3 of the first quizzes. !!!AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
automatic GPA destroyer
Dr. Hulett did not seem very prepared for the classes. She just kind of went through the textbook, showing us how to do each topic as she came across it. Sometimes, she needed a minute to herself to remember how to do something. She did not always seem comfortable with the notation, which is a huge part of the math.
Easily the worst instructor I have ever had!
Doesn't teach. Goes off on tangents every class. Gets annoyed with classes easily. Incredibly hard grader. You will need a study group to actually learn/teach others what will be on quizzes/exams, seeing she does not actually teach in class. Easily the worst teacher I have ever had.
Worst teacher ever!!! She isn't helpful at all, she doesn't teach and she give you not enough time on quizzes and tests. I can't believe she has a job in education. If you get her class first semester, drop it. If you get a choice, never take her class.
She is the worst teacher on this campus. I should have taken the hint when over half the class dropped mid way through the semester because of how bad she is. You have to write answers word for word for what she is looking for if you expect to get even a B on a quiz. Constantly talks down to her students. Avoid at all costs.
Dr. Hulett is actually very nice. She seems very intimidating the first weeks, but underneath her intimidating act, she wants you to do well and will help you if you talk to her, if she knows you, and if she can see that you are trying. I did not want to take stats at all, but her lectures (and Tests!) were very thorough. Be willing to work.
Unfair expectations of showing work and inaccurately describes what material will be tested. For example, she said "Quiz material will be on Ch 12 only" and the quiz includes questions from other chapters. Despite unclear expectations and her intimidating persona, Dr. Hulett is very willing to help you if you make an effort.
She acts like she knows everything when teaching you and also expect her to assume that everyone in the class is naturally good at statistics. If you fall behind even slightly expect to be completely screwed. She is helpful if you go in to see her but otherwise her grading is ridiculously tough and you will have either a quiz or test every week.
Very high demands but not very easy to understand. She expects homework to be completed every day but doesn't really break it down so that it is understandable.
Let me help the poor soul who is thinking of taking her. Imagine a sock(your grade) with a thread(Hulett)coming off of it. She pulls and pulls at that thread making the sock become less and less leaving nothing but a pile of thread at the end. Do your self a favor and cut the thread before she destroys it. Terrible teacher. manipulative. Just mean
She gave me a C because my lines weren't straight enough... on a stem and leaf plot. Gave me an F because I showed all work plus more, and had the audacity to write "I don't know how you got this", even though I got the right answer. Ruined my life/GPA.
She is not NEARLY as bad as everyone says. I did the assigned homework every night, studied for tests and quizzes, went to office hours and tutors when I needed help, and then I was fine! Stats is the most failed class at UWL, so just be ready to put work into it no matter what teacher you have. She is really helpful and wants you to do well!
She is nowhere near as bad as everyone says she is, you just have to be willing to put in the work. She is actually very helpful as well. If you go to her office hours, she is more than happy to help you and really wants you to do well in her class. I actually really enjoyed her both as a teacher and as a person. I would recommend her.
Horrible teacher. Will ruin your GPA and make you hate statistics with a passion. You will never want to go to class simply because she will make you feel stupid, and then on tests she will also destroy any hope you had of getting a good grade.
She is NOT bad! She either changed or people just don't try very hard. If you go to class everyday and put in a medium effort you can easily get a B/C. Put in more effort, do the hw, go into her office hours, and you can get a B or AB easily. She is quirky and sometimes snobby, but it keeps things interesting. She curves everything which rocks!
Please do yourself a favor and dont take this class. I have always been on the deans list, and this class took me off it. Even after going to the tutors and office hours multiple times a week I still could almost never past a test.Even after reading the reviews myself I thought that it cant be bad but it is, dont take her class and save yourself!!
Stats is a really hard class and this teacher made it even harder. she will take of points for anything on your tests and weekly quizzes, such as not using straightedges when drawing lines. spent most my time in the library doing work for a C that would be the work needed for an A with another teacher.
-Pronounces her "h's" in words like where and why and what... etc. -In a way, kind of degrades students (makes students feel dumb)
Not worth it to take this class with this professor. Wait until you can take Stats with another professor. You will not pass unless you read the book every day and go to tutors weekly.
STAY AWAY!!! MTH 145 was a difficult class for me and I ended up dropping her course and took another professor who was head-and-shoulders superior to Hulett. She comes off very rude at times to which then you feel she is unapproachable when you have questions.
If you can avoid her, DO IT! She's definitely smart & knows the material, but forgets that you don't yet. On quizzestests, if you don't do it her way or the way she likes but you still get it right, she does dock points. She also emphasizes her "h"'s on words like what and where... can't handle it.
She's a great and brilliant teacher. If you enjoy math and enjoy routines, take her. She is not scary, she just lays down the law. She is human and will joke around but overall the class is an average college class. She won't cut corners for you for heavens sake it's math, not English. You're either right or wrong, she's very clear.
Dr. Hulett can sometimes be difficult, but if you ask for help she's more than willing to give it.
Hulett is pretty awesome. If you go to her office hours, she'll help you. Sometimes, her sarcasm can seem a little undermining, but if you can get past that, you'll be fine. Her exams and quizzes are HARD. Do more than just the homework. Practice problems and visiting her in office hours are a must if you're not a strong math kid.
Horrible teacher without a doubt. I have never had a more sarcastic and disrespectful professor in my entire college experience. Lectures make little to no sense. Quizzes every week and 4 exams across the semester. Lectures are terrible! If you are bad at math please take someone else.
Horrible professor. Took her as she was the only one available but regretted it as I have to retake the course anyways. Do not take her even if it means waiting a semester... very rude and degrading to other students in the class.
DO NOT TAKE. She is miserable
This professor knows her stuff but she teaches like we should know the material already. She talks talks in sarcastic tone to students in an unprofessional way. I once corrected her on an error she made to better clarify how do so something and she said she didn't care. Avoid this professor even if you have to wait a semester.
Horrible. She grades really harshly, and doesn't explain everything well. she is extremely smart, just not a good teacher.
I like her personality- smart, sarcastic, and a little quackery. Her class is hard to understand tho but I passed with a C so I'm happy. Wouldn't not recommend if math does not come easy to you or you are not willing to try to earn your grade.
I love this woman. If you have questions she will help point you in the right direction, all you need to do is ask. Her quizzes and tests are hard but like in any other math class if you attend class and do all of the homework you will be fine. It is not hard to get on her good side but do not get on her bad side.
Extremely hard course if you aren't good at math. Make sure you know whats going on from the beginning because this course builds on itself. She does make students feel dumb in class but her office hours can be really helpful.
She was the worst professor I've had. Everything was very confusing. She is available outside of class, but most of the times I saw her she made me feel very dumb. She is very strict and not very personable. I do not recommend taking her. This was the worst grade I've gotten in my school career.
Save yourself and withdrawal as soon as possible. You can thank me later
Heather is very smart, but it doesn't mean that students understand what she is saying. There was a quiz every Thursday, 4 tests and a cumulative final. If your not good at math do NOT take her. I spent at least 5 hours every week outside of class studying/on homework
If hate truly isnt a UW-L value it surely isnt represented with Heather. I have never been so disrespected in a classroom environment leaving it hard to focus even after talking it out. She is a very tough grader, even if you study youll still be confused by the exams and when you get something wrong shell be there to make you feel stupid.
While at first I did not like her as a professor, you soon get used to her quirky ways. She is very helpful and is accessible outside of class, and is always willing to help if you have questions. She does have quizzes weekly, but she drops the lowest one. Test average is around 75 with a big emphasis on definitions. If you study, you'll do fine.
I really enjoyed Dr. Hulett's class! She makes lectures fun and entertaining while still covering tough material. The pace was just right and you always felt free to ask questions in class. She graded quizzes, tests, and homework harder than I was used to, but if you go into her office hours and ask for help it really helps.
Dr. Hulett is a very good professor. She expects a lot of student effort, but she makes herself very accessible and is always happy to answer questions. If you don't like math, then I wouldn't recommend taking her. But, if you enjoy math and are willing to do homework, she is an excellent choice.
This professor has been by far the worst I have had at UWL. She teaches you the information, expecting that you already know it, and she'll make a fool out of you if you ask a bad question. Lectures are confusing, you're better off just reading out of the book, and the exams are even worse. Each quiz and exam she gives is confusing and graded harsh
I really enjoyed having her as a professor. She is very skilled. She wants to make sure you understand the material, so she does assign lots of homework and there are 20 point quizzes every week. She doesn't count participation for credit, but I suggest you go to class - it's hard without her instruction.
She's an over-the-top harsh grader, and very proud of it. She's extremely patronizing to students and will laugh at you if you if you mess up in class.
Dr. Hulett is a good teacher, but you have to put in the work. There are weekly quizzes which can be difficult, but the exams are not too bad. I did bad on the exams but I didn't do all of my homework. So, do all homework and you'll be good. Sometimes there is extra credit, and her final exam was very easy, which definitely will help your grade.
She truly care about her students but you do need to put in your side of the work. A good example is that she willingly came in on the weekend to help student study for and exam after one of them asked.
I put in about 4 hours of work for every hour in class. You have to put in the effort to get an A but she really does want you to succeed and is very available to help you. Shes very knowledgeable in her field and pushes you to work for your grade. If you like math youll like her! If youre looking for an easy A, this isnt it :)
Extremely fast lectures and almost no check for understanding from students. Dropped out after the first 3 weeks after spending 5 hours on homework a night and still not understanding. The tutors did not know how to help, and she only answers half of your question before moving on to something new.
Horrible teacher. She constantly makes grammar and math mistakes in class and on tests. She is very passive-aggressive to anyone who challenges her and will put a target on you if she does not like you. Goes over material above and beyond the necessary extent of an introductory calc class. Honestly the worst teacher I have ever had.
Professor Hulett was the worst Professor I have ever had. She is such a harsh grader and her class average was failing for majority of the exams. The only reason I passed this class was because I took AP Calculus in high school and learned majority of it before. If you have the option to take another Professor, DO IT.
I'm not the smartest in math to begin with, and Heather just makes me feel like I'm stupid. It's the middle of a pandemic and the fact that she cannot operate technology correctly makes things harder for me and the course itself that much more difficult. Very snarky, condescending, and misgenders me quite a bit. Doesn't stick to lesson plan either.
Although she is a tough grader, I really did enjoy her class. I am not someone who is blessed with math skills but I did better than expected in this class. She is always open to helping outside of class and goes over many examples that are almost exactly like exam questions. I would take her class again.
Honestly the worst professor I've ever had. If I could give her a 0/5 rating I would've, but the minimum is 1/5 so that's what I was stuck with. She is VERY passive aggressive, rude, snarky, and makes you feel like the biggest idiot if you ask a question. She laughed at me and made fun of me TO THE ENTIRE CLASS on multiple occasions. Save yourself.
I spent countless hours a night studying for this class and constantly felt like I was behind. Very fast-paced and very passive-aggressive. Made me feel stupid on multiple occasions. I had anxiety going into the class every day. She is a nice lady, the class just was not for me.
If you go to class and participate it was not that bad of a class. She kind of expects a lot out of you for homework and she does almost daily online quizzes and weekly in class quizzes but I honestly think they helped a lot. There was four exams and a cumulative final. She is willing to help you as long as you come to class and participate.
She gives you quizzes every Thursday if you are ready or not. I switched math classes into this one and she gave me a quiz the first day and had to learn the material by myself. Very hard grader and if you do not devote every second to this class it is hard to even get a C.
She wasn't as bad of a teacher as I thought she'd be after going on rate my professor. She gives a lot of tests and she doesn't put anything in canvas, so its tough to know what your grade is in the class. Other then that, she is very nice and will help you if you talk to her.
She has a good attitude and will go above and beyond to help you as long as you reach out. My only complaint is that she doesn't always convey ideas clearly in lecture, but as long as you do your book problems and reach out to her, you will do just fine.
The class, I felt, could have been better organized. I also felt that she could be more focused during lectures.
Professor Hulett is a tough grader, but she genuinely cares about your learning and is very willing to help you outside of class.
You must participate to get anything out of the class, and make sure you do your homework. Get ready for weekly quizzes and one project, the quizzes really help. She clearly explains everything you need and is super caring and willing to help out anyone outside of class, from zoom to office hours.
Dr. H is actually a great human and is a great professor if you get to know her. Go to office hours for help and she is very willing to help and explain. Ask questions to get full understanding of topics. She is a little quirky, but once you get used to it, she is good.
Horrendous teacher. Has a superiority complex and is very demeaning. For a homework comment, she wrote "How old are you? Can you not be certain about these?" for using "likely true" or "likely false" for a problem she stated could be unknown. That is one of many examples I have of her unprofessional nature in the three weeks I was in her class.
