Professor Kokorowski can be a very simple teacher when taking oceanography. Do the Mastering homework, show up to class, and participate, more than likely you will pass with a C or better. The tests are very straight forward and you don't have to worry about surprises. Everything you need to know is on Canvas for refreshers. Great teacher and class
AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! Whether part of your major or not, You will love the class. Classes include interesting videos as well as the homework-watch the little homework videos you'll have the answers. No book needed 99%. Goes over homework in class. Very helpful. You know what to expect and the professor "ALWAYS-makes class enjoyable. Best science !!
Amazing Professor. Gives homework that is completed online with videos. Homework is easy and must be done for credit. Attend class for in class activities and subject reinforcement. Provides multiple ways to earn extra credit including a field trip. Midterm and Final are worth 10% each, so no stress there. Would take her again.
She has a clear understanding of the subject however she does not know how to lecture. Class was usually boring and off topic. If you do take her, don't buy the book, you don't need it to pass because everything is online.
I took this class online and this Professor was all over the place.I didn't understand what she wanted us to do next even with the Modules and when I would ask her she would tell me to go to my peers online or the modules which I had explained to her already I didn't understand what she wanted.I am telling you ,ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Prof. Kokorowski is an amazing teacher!!! She really cares about what she is teaching, and she cares about each individual student. She is organized and clear about her expectations. She gives regular feedback, and enriches each lecture with real-world examples about her travels and research to help us tie course concepts to real life.
Took the online class. Very organized, and you can succeed as long as you do the homework and read the book in preparation for the exams. Projects actually tied course material to real life, which was a nice change. Prof. K responded promptly to questions and was super helpful when I had questions. Highly recommend.
The instructor is very clear in communicating lessons with students. She goes over material and makes sure her students understand. She often gives examples from her own scientific research, which is interesting. Uses samples of rocks in class to engage and interest students. Highly recommend! Best science class!
Absolutely amazing professor. Very understanding. She is very passionate about geology and it makes for a great learning environment. I drive 38 miles from Camarillo to be in her class. BEST TEACHER EVER!
The information in this class is well communicated and explained. Also are expectations. I really like the homework, and the lectures always relate and make sense with the homework. Class is always interesting, and overall, I like the teaching style.
Great teacher. SHe knows what she is talking about and not just reading out of a book. She also treats everyone with the same respect that she would like for herself. The lectures are really interesting because she uses models or real life scenarios to convey her message.
Kokorowski is very positive and upbeat and excided about rocks. Her stories and personality make me get more interested in the material. Very knowledgeable with clear expectations. Great teacher.
Great Teacher! I took the online class on Oceanography. Great class. I know more about shores, beaches, ocean chemistry, sediments, marine life and ocean features than ever before. Be on top of things when you take this course. Lessons are up-to-date or current information are shared (unlike other professors who use data in 1980's).
Great professor! take this class!
Professor Koko is extremely nice and she always wants to help you if you're ever lost. However, its extremely hard to make up anything if you miss class unless you have a documented excuse which often times is impossible to get. The lectures can also be very boring if you're not super interested in the topic and there is a lot of work.
Dont take this class unless you love oceanography. You have been warned
The instructions offered in each module were very clear and very helpful, and Prof. K replied to any concerns and questions promptly. The course is very well organized, but you need to be sure to stay on top of reading and assignments. This was a challenging but rewarding class. I really liked the discussion board assignments using Google Earth!
Prof Kokorowski is such a pain. You have to show up to every class meeting, make sure you do all the activities and online assignments. There is a midterm and final, and she is NOT a easy grader. The smallest thing could make or break you. If it was possiable I would take it with someone else. I also bought a book that I didnt really need.
Prof. K is the best teacher I have every taken. Yes, she makes you work for it, but she also makes class interesting with stories and ties to real life. Class is well organized and expectations are clear. She is also really helpful if you have a question. I highly recommend her.
Prof. K is one of those professors who puts a lot of thought into her teaching, and she shows that she really cares about you. You have to go to class and do the work, but at least she makes it interesting. The book helps too. You can get away with not getting it, but it will help reinforce what you learn in class.
I absolutely love taking Prof. K's class. She keeps my interest piqued in the topic because of her absolute excitement over the topic. I initially had no interest in oceanography, I've considered a major because of how highly Prof. K talks about geology and her grad research. Prof. K is fantastic and I'm glad I decided to take her class.
This professor does an excellent job of engaging her students and encouraging intelligent discussion on the material covered. In class activities with partners helps us understand the material more. She is very friendly and approachable. Don't be afraid to ask questions in her class. Always organized and has a positive attitude.
The passion that she has for the subject really shows and it makes me excited and happy to be learning from someone that genuinely enjoys what she is doing and has so much knowledge about what she is teaching. Her class is structured so that topics line up perfectly with the online homework to make sure we understand the concepts. Great proffessor!
I just finished the winter online class. It was a lot of work, but the professor has everything super organized. She also gave really helpful feedback on assignments. I liked using Google Earth.
She is a great professor, if you get the work done you will pass. She sets up the class the best way for a student to succeed and understand the material. She is understanding of a situation that may occur that makes you miss class. I took the lab section with her and she made the labs interesting.
For her online class you have to: do the online homework which consists of watching videos and answering q's (3-4 hrs), reading the textbook (2 hrs), doing the discussion forum (1-2 hrs), and doing the quizzes (1). I would recommend taking it in person if you can because it's less time to complete the work. Class average on midterm was a 65.
I am just finishing the online class. I have learned so much about our Earth, I am thinking about changing my major! Yes, you have to work hard... but this is college. Prof. Kokorowski provides really good feedback so I always know how I can improve for next time. I really liked the Google Earth assignments. Clear expectations.
Super hard class, but I feel that it is good preparation for when I transfer in the fall to a 4-year university. Prof. K has high expectations but she is also there to help. It is clear that she really cares for her studetns.
I loved this class & professor! Her lectures really grab your attention & you can tell she's very passionate about oceanography. She wants to make sure you know the material and really wants you to succeed. The only downside about the class is that she is a VERY hard grader and you pretty much have to show up to every class or your grade will drop.
The online class was difficult. She is very hard on grading. If you are looking for an easy grader, take a class elsewhere because she will really make you work for it. I wish I would have known how hard it was just to get a B.
Looking at other reviews I feel like the workload isn't as bad as others think. There is occasionally some 5 point worksheet in class, and weekly homework would take me 2 hours tops and it's not hard or timed. The homework is a series of short videos that you then have 3 chances per question to get right. Overall though I loved this class
Very structured. Material is not very difficult compared to the other science w lab classes like chem and bio. Take your time to learn it and go to class because the tests reflect everything you go over. She is an enthusiastic person and makes the class fun. I would recommend taking Oceanography with the lab.
This is one of the best science teachers i have ever gotten! She is very enthusiastic and genuine. She cares about her students and is determined to help ever single one of them. Her homework isnt hard takes me anywhere from 30-1 hour. Would recommend
Fantastic teacher! Her expectations are straightforward and the material is clear and easy to understand so theres no reason not to get a good grade other then not willing to put in the work. Anyone who doesnt probably thought it was an easy A sort of class. She really cares about what she is teaching and her students!
I was worried going into this class because it is lab but I was very pleased. Professor Kokorowski is incredibly helpful and kind. It is easy to get an A as long as you show up and do the lab and pay attention. The class also says it takes 3 hours, but as soon as you finish your group lab, you can leave. She is very clear about what is expected.
The test are difficult, however Professor gives many points with everything else. If you focus on the homework, show up to class you will pass.
This class shouldn't really be taken online as it is very very information heavy. The modules do help and you have to actively participate in the group discussions which is a very significant part of your grade. She's a very hard grader but does give you 3 chances for the test which is cool. If you want to take an easy class choose another 1
Heather Kokorowski is a great teacher. She just assigns textbook reading and power slides.
Prof. Kokorowski really cares about her students, and provides clear expectations and grading criteria. Online discussions are graded based on a rubric, so those who complain about hard grading must not have read the instructions very carefully. She always responded quickly to questions, and I learned a lot!
I been in her oceanology 1 and oceanology 10 class. She is fair on grading and if you need help she does have office hours and is willing to help. If you do the work than you will pass class.
I enjoyed this class overall. The professor is very knowledgeable and helpful. She responds to email communications very quickly. There are 2 quizzes every week, one online quiz and one in class quiz. If you pay attention in class you will do well on these quizzes. I found the midterm and the final to be difficult.
Show up to class! Due the pre-lab before coming to class( which will help you understand the material). 1 Midterm! 1 Final! You will do great in the class! Great Professor!!!
Super nice and caring. You do have to work, but she explains everything very thoroughly. With a combination of in class notes and online homework there is no way you couldn't pass. Only downside is that the quizzes aren't always based off of what she went over, but there's only two quizzes. One homework assignment due every week and a group proj.
I would not recommend this class without taking or having taken Oceano 001 because this lab class will be harder to understand without the lecture class. Other than that, she's super nice and you have lots of time to work on in-class assignments. Just know you should be explain everything in your answers because occasionally she will mark you down.
Very nice and approachable woman, very passionate and knowledgeable about her topics. Homework and quizzes were given online with some in class activities and minimal tests given. Lectures went over homework, so if you learn things well the first time they can be repetitive.
Professor Kokorowski is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. I am TERRIBLE at all things science, but I was able to understand the material. She is so passionate about the subject and it shows in her energy and enthusiasm when she lectures. She really cares about her students and wants them to do well. Absolutely take this class!
If you are not a science major and are taking this class because it is a requirement (I did) take Prof. K. She is amazing and I also suggest to take her lecture with her lab. You can tell that she really enjoys teaching Oceanography and you learn so much. This class will open your eyes to climate change and everything that is going on in the world
Don't get her for lab. STAY TF AWAY and get another teacher. Take it from someone that NEVER writes reviews for teachers. Biggest regret is not dropping the class.
Quiz's are ever week on top of homework and a discussion's to do. The class can be overwhelming with a lot of reading. She will take points off if you are missing anything. Would not refer taking this professor.
Overall her class was enjoyable, her slideshows are easily accessible. I took her online class and beware you have a quiz every Sunday and a discussion every other week, if you don't need this class I don't recommend it because it can be a bit heavy lectured. The midterm and final I found a bit hard to do.
This class was so rough during a summer session, i highly Recommend you take this in fall. Or spring. Her exams and quizzes are proctored AND TIMED which adds more pressure on you. However, she is extremely clear and informative in her lessons and how to so that is helpful. She also curves your final so its not too horrible. Tons of reading!
I took this class online and I took her lab and lecture class. There is a lot of work meaning a lot of notes and discussion posts. The test are based off the notes but are worded differently so you have to really study the material. I survived through Quizlet and not writing the notes but having the notes open online, earned a low B
Professor Kokorowski is great! Very knowledgeable, gives you feedback on most of what you turn in. I would not recommend taking this class during a winter or summer semester (5weeks), it is a bit much. A lot of reading as expected, plenty of HW, quizzes for every chapter, but I will say that she has done a great job with her online format.
This class was very difficult but if you put in the work you will be rewarded. It was a bit difficult without a lecture but she does a great job of further explaining things in webcast videos. She also provides excellent feedback on assignments and allows plenty of opportunities to try again or earn extra credit.
She assigns way too much work. There is homework on two different platforms you have to keep up with. The google earth assignment is nearly impossible. DO NOT TAKE HER! SHE IS A BAD PROFESSOR! TOO MUCH WORK!
If you are not an ocean major, STAY AWAY! She assigns way too much work for a introduction class! Extremely hard quizzes, and homework! I wish I took another class other than hers. Discussion post were pretty much all essays. She expects soo much from her students. We are not all oceanography majors! Class IS IMPOSSIBLE!
Professor Kokorowski is a very organized teacher. But the amount of classwork given each week is enough to turn down any student from taking this class. The level of difficulty for an oceanography class is extraordinary. I took her class for units, ended up lowering my GPA. If you like a challenge take her class, you will be teaching yourself.
Very on top professor, who will grade and give feedback fast. Assigns too much work a week, followed by very hard quizzes. Expects everyone to dedicate 20 hours a week into an introductory class. Avoid if possible.
AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS! I took the lecture and lab, and had about 2 mental breakdowns a week. This class took OVER 20 hours a week. The tests and hw are absolutely ridiculous and awfully specific, with no way around it. I am not much of a science person but I would've taken any other class. Plus, <10% of the class was actually about oceans.
Prof. K provides detailed feedback and responds quickly to questions. You can tell that she cares. You have to work hard and review the modules, but I learned so much about the oceans and how humans impact the Earth. Well organized class. Manage your time, and you will be fine. Weekly online homework, quizzes, and a discussion. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Very well organized and straightforward class. I had no trouble earning 98%. Lowest quiz and discussion are dropped. Unlike so many other profs, Prof. Kokorowski actually gets back to you and provides helpful feedback. This was my favorite class at Pierce!
Quiz questions are super straightforward and straight from the modules. Feedback is always provided, so I always knew where I went wrong and where to study before my 2nd attempt (yes, she gives us a second attempt). The class is super easy to navigate and the prof always responded right away, which is always helpful.
You can tell the Professor is passionate about the subject. Gives great feedback. Im honestly shocked by these bad reviews. Her class is super clear and organized. I 100% recommend her. My friend took her class and changed their major. Turns out oceanography is a lot about climate change (not necessarily all about oceans). Super interesting!
Professor Kokorowski is organized to the nines and answers questions thoroughly and diligently. Her class was very interesting and I recommend it to anyone with any interest in science or climate change.
Professor was actively present in the class, gives great feedback, allows quiz re-takes, and all quiz questions come straight out of the modules, which makes it super easy. Just watch them and you will be able to follow along. Easy A as long as you just do the work. Pretty standard workload. Professor is quick to respond.
Best online professor I have had so far. Course is well paced and she is very easy to reach out to for assistance. For classroom discussion posts, she will always give feedback when grading.
It is an extremely well designed and organized online class. She is extremely involved with students, available and clear on what is expected. Lots to read but its also very interesting.
Her online lessons were extremely accessible with videos, immersive reading (the computer will read the lesson to you) and an optional text book if you need more help or learn better that way. She recorded her own lectures as well being another way to get your information. She covered all the basis to try to make sure students will be able to learn
Loved this class. Best organized class I've seen online - very clear what's expected of you and the homework is easy - you just watch videos and answer a few questions about them. Plus the information is presented in different ways so it's not boring. Professor really cares about the subject and her students. Easy if you do the work.
I will say this, get very comfy with ur classmates cause u will be struggling in her class. She gives time for extra credit and time to make up class work; her office hours are also accessible, but her 8 week course kills. You will be struggling with the amount of work because of this.
The worst professor ever. I took this lab thinking it would be difficult but not that bad. For one credit, this woman made me do more work than my other three classes combined. This teacher is a great example of someone who knows their class is not important so they harass their students with exorbitant amount of work to make herself feel better.
A lot of work for an online class but manageable
Her online lab class is very organized, each module has all the information you need to complete the lab homework so you don't really need a textbook. She makes clear instructions and is easily accessible if you reach out! The material is interesting and clearly laid out in both text and video format. I don't understand the low reviews at all!
Professor Kokorowski was such a great teacher, I recommend this online lab to anyone looking for a fun class! Not too many assignments + quizzes mirror exactly what was on module lessons. This lab was asynchronous, so I was able to learn a lot and enjoy the class stress-free. Super organized/easy to understand, best class I've taken so far!
I took Professor Kokorowski for my Ocean 10 Lab and Ocean 01 class. I loved her for both and would totally take her again in another class if he had it available. Her course is clear and has many different ways to learn the material she places graphs, videos, reading and discussions to help you learn and is ALWAYS open to help and give feedback.
I enjoyed this class with the professor she made the class clear and easy for me. I would recommend her she basically does videos and quizzes afterwards and allows two attempts
Try your best on the quizzes and go through the material. This is not an easy A. She gives great feedback and is very kind. I would take another course with her, everything was interesting. The videos also have quizzes embedded in them, they don't affect your grade but are a good tool for studying. I love that this was an online course
Difficulty: Very easy if you like learning. Response time: Quick, you can tell she cares deeply for each student and their performance. Clarification on assignments: Super clear, I struggle a lot with understanding directions and look at my grade. Quality of course content: Stellar. I learned so much, better than any oceanography class I've taken.
Well organized online course with plenty of feedback.
Excellent professor, dedicated to students, affordable online text book.
Amazing professor! If I could take her again, it is without a doubt that I would. She makes you actually want to learn in the class and not just participate to receive a grade. She cares deeply about her students and the effort they put into the course as well as their grade and outcome. Amazing and easy professor.
The professor is really easy to reach. She is very helpful with questions. Defiantly an easy study method in my opinion. For all of the quizzes and test there are 2 or 3 tries, so if you fail the first you can redo it right after. Overall a very easy and fun class.
Kokorowski is incredibly kind and a great professor. However, if you are not prepared to do hours of homework do not take this class!!! There are weekly modules full of assignments along with a three hour class every week. She is available at all times and gives great feedback on assignments. Her class isn't difficult just a lot of work.
super nice and very accessible & accommodating. 5 week class is fast paced, but work is not too bad. she has a great passion for earth science/geology and divides the class in a nice way. weekly hw/lecture work, quizzes are open notes/book and final is cumulative. highly recommend if you need this class. have to pay for online hw and textbook
For a fully online course, it has great organization and is easily navigable. Some of the work is time consuming, but not particularly complex. Professor Kokorowski is wonderful, easy to communicate with, and has her students best interests in mind. Would absolutely recommend!
Professor Kokorowski cares about her class, from the students to the material, she puts in more effort than most professors. There are so many interesting things to learn in her class, I highly recommend it.
Honestly super straight forward class. I didn't take the lab at the same time and I thought it was the best move I made. Professor is super sweet but does not bend her grading criteria. You just really have to pay attention to the video and read because then you won't understand what is happening. Be ready to put in work for an A.
I am currently a student at CSUN but decided to take some classes at Pierce. Professor Kokorowski is a great professor. She made oceanography fun and interesting. Though some of her instructions for some assignments were unclear, the class was easy overall.
The class is well organized and instructions were clear. The video quizzes made learning easy and interesting. The professor is responsive and caring, and gives good feedback. Made me want to work hard in her class.
This 1-credit class met my expectations. The workload was manageable and complemented my lecture course. Instructions were clear and helpful, and the class was well-organized. The sequence of an introductory video (set up as a quiz),then a discussion and then lab activities effectively prepared me for each task and ensured I understood the topics.
I was nervous at first, but the workload was manageable, and I quickly understood the material. The class was well-organized with detailed instructions and tutorial videos for lab activities. The professor was great, responding quickly to questions and providing valuable feedback.
Most well-organized online course I've ever taken. The professor clearly cares for her students and offers every opportunity to succeed. I appreciated the videos and multimedia content used throughout the course since I am a visual learner.
I took the hybrid class, and really enjoyed it. The online portion is well organized, and in class she reviews some of the main topics and we do an activity. I wish all classes were organized in this way!
Take Prof. K's online geology class! Her lessons are engaging and accessible, with many videos, interactive figures, and clear communication. She's great at explaining stuff and always answers questions quickly. I am a child development major so this was my first science class and I loved it!
I didn't know what to expect when I took an oceanography class, but Professor Kokorowski did an amazing job of explaining the material. The course was so well set up that is was easy to go through and I loved the video quizzes. She's awesome, and I look forward to taking the lab class with her next term.
The lab assignments were clear and the workload was manageable. Feedback on assignments was thorough, honest, and allowed me to feel seen and heard despite being behind a screen. The organization of the course into modules was intuitive, consistent, and easy to follow.
I loved the video quizzes because they kept me engaged the whole term!! I also loved the interactive figures where the professor explained the figure and why it was important. I really appreciated the feedback I received on discussions. The comments were both encouraging and helpful. She also responds really fast to messages and grades promptly.
All of the lab activities were interesting and engaging, especially the one where we experimented with water density. I did the experiments with my 6-year-old daughter and we both had fun. Google Earth was also cool to use. I also liked that the deadlines were consistent every week. If you need a science lab, definitely take this one!
Before taking this course, I wasn't really aware of oceanography, and I didn't take a particular interest in issues regarding marine habitats or the issues endangering them. However, not only am I now aware of these issues and am researching ways in which I can do my part, but I also really enjoyed the course and found it to be really interesting!
Prof. Kokorowski is an amazing professor! Great feedback and communication with the class. I really enjoyed all the labs. Each assignment was well explained, and it was clear what was expected of us. I really appreciate that there were basically step by step instructions for the labs, and the introduction videos were very helpful.
Professor Kokorowski is an awesome professor, and I loved this class. Her class was super easy to follow, you basically just have to watch the videos then answer questions. I learned so many things and would recommend this class to anyone!!
I honestly enjoyed Prof. Kokorowski's class so much. The content and the teaching style were easy to follow, super enjoyable, and insightful. I'm keeping an eye out for more of her classes. Highly recommended.
Each lab takes a few hours, which is more than I expected, but Prof. K is highly responsive and you get more than one chance on each lab. She gives lots of useful feedback and grades everything right away. The Canvas shell is easy to follow, and the video introductions for each lab are super helpful. If you need an online lab, take this one!
I really enjoyed this class. You have to stay on top of weekly deadlines and there is a lot of material, but the video lessons (set up as quizzes) are awesome and my favorite part about the class. Professor Kokorowski is really involved in the class, even though it's online. I felt like she was really present, unlike many other online instructors.
I took only a lab part of OCEANO 1. Her asynchronous class organized perfectly, but for 1 unit it's a lot of work. I didn't do so much for a lecture part. If her class is part of your major, so probably you find her helpful, but if it's only GE requirement, I'd avoided her.
She was a great teacher. I had a great time in Ocean 1 online course. Prof. Kokorowski and Prof. Lockard at LAPC have really opened my eyes to Geology. You have to take all the quizzes which can take some time but you can get an easy 100% on them. This only allows 350 words but it was a great course.
If you are studying for this type of field then take her because she will give you the info that you need. If you are taking this class just to get your GE requirements done please stay away from her! She is really picky with how she wants her assignments done and tries to fit in way to much information for it to be considered a intro course.
This intro class starts out interesting but devolves heavily. It's impossible to figure out what is going on as the course progresses. Very hard to understand, although the resources are there and she is a good lecturer. She is good at communication but it's a generally hard class. Midterm and especially final are tough
This was one of my favorite professors, she's so kind and the material is super clear. The course just consisted of a video quiz(unlimited attempts), and 2 lab quizzes every week (2 attempts) Occasional discussion The midterm and final project are super fun and easy, you just add to the midterm project for the final, super easy A just do the work!
Prof. Kokorowski is awesome! Her lectures are very informative and easy to understand. She is passionate and cares about her students, and her assignments are very clear cut and doable! I learned a lot from this class.
Great Professor in my opinion.
Professor Kokorowski is great for someone who wants to get an easy A. This course consists of 3-4 short lecture videos (averaging about 20 minutes a week total) and one exam at the end of each week, with the occasional discussion post. Fill out the study guide each week and the quizzes will be super easy!
There are 5-6 weekly assignments, which can be heavy with other classes. Usually, there are 3-4 video quizzes (8 min each), a weekly quiz (15-20 min) that requires studying, and discussions (30-60 min) that are fun and insightful. Video quizzes can be retaken, module quizzes twice, and the lowest discussion grade is dropped. Great teacher!
Professor Kokorowski definitely is passionate about this subject and ensuring that we learn oceanography and the environment. She has a very clear grading methodology and provides very good feedback. Keep in mind that there is work to do in the class but so long as you give the appropriate amount of time and effort you will do well and learn a lot.
she does tries to help you when you ask for help. its a lot of information its manageable. Her discussion matters ALOT do not give one or two sentence she will not give you all the points. Unlike other midterms and finals she does not give you a test, you get to create a planet and do a video you only share with her.
This class is a fun and easy class if you have to fulfill a physical science requirement and don't want to take chemistry. Professor Kororowski is a great teacher is very helpful. She makes the assignments easy to understand.
Professor Kokorowski was an amazing professor, her organization of the class made it feel very manageable. We had a project for our midterm and our final instead of a traditional exam which was actually very fun. I was nervous about this class, but she definitely made the topics fun, approachable, and easy to understand. I would recommend her 100%.
Professor Kokorowski demonstrated great professional abilities, particularly through her clear and engaging teaching style. Her ability to use real-world examples and interactive projects, like a Google Earth Scavenger Hunt and Human Impacts projects, helped connect theory to practice. Take her class! I really enjoyed it.
I took OCEO 001 with professor Kokorowski. She is a very caring and attentive teacher. She gave me good constructive criticism and was very clear on our assignments. My best advice is to stay on top of your work, her deadlines aren't hard to meet. We have discussions due at 11:59 on Thursdays and all other assignments typically due Sunday at 11:59.
I took Professor Kokorowski's class because I checked her score on Rate My Professor. I know there's some mixed reviews but I honestly loved her class. I don't usually like science classes but her Canvas course is the best online course I've ever taken. It's super well-organized, you can retake the video quizzes repeatedly, and she's super kind!
Ms. Kokorowski is a really great professor. There is a lot of quizzes, but they are very easy. She doesn't make the class boring. I don't really like doing a lot of work, but I wouldn't mind for her class. She gives great feedback, and her assignments actually teaches.
Probably the most organized online class I have ever heard of. Very clear grading method. So long as you do your work, you should have no problems getting an A. However there is work to be done in this class. The instructions and feedback are very clear and helpful. Professor is very knowledgeable in this field as well as very passionate about it.
Honestly, this class was pretty hard for me, but I turned in all my work on time and and that's what got me an A. She's a very tough grader, but gives great feedback and lets you fix your mistakes if you turn work in early. Her modules are filled with a lot of reading and graded video quizzes. Her test are also very hard! Studying is a must!!!
Prof Kokorowski was awesome, I wish I could take her for more classes! Her IntroOcean class was textbook-free, and it was an online class so everything was through Canvas. She really set up the content in an engaging way with text, video, audio, and interactive diagrams. You can tell she put a lot of work into it, and it made learning way easier.
RUN.Find another professor if possible. I had to take this class twice and both experiences were horrible. As a student would works full-time you would think she would caring enough to accommodate and allow tutor sessions to run a little bit later for those who work 9-5 and need clarification on some assignments but no. All she says is “good luck”.
Currently taking this class, which I didn't think I'd care about. This professor knows how to make literally anything interesting and is caring, always relating it back to her own studies and career. The midterm is a project using google earth and finding things you've learned about, which is really cool and interesting. This is how you teach.
Prof. Kokorowski is a dedicated teacher who genuinely wants her students to learn. The class is fairly easy: 1 discussion post due each Thursday, 4+ graded videos tied to the modules, and 1–3 tests weekly. The most challenging part is the final project—it's worth a lot and very time-consuming, so use that time wisely to focus and learn.
I loved this class and I can't wait to take more courses by the professor! Sets you up for success in the course, makes the expectations very clear on what you're learning & for every assignment. One discussion and quiz a week (2 tries) then a couple of videos with embedded questions. Projects for mid term and final. Prof very accessible. Take her!
She is very involved in explaining what she expects. She gives great feedback. Good lectures.
If you have a lot going on outside of school, I wouldn't recommend the discussions are very time-consuming, as well as the projects If you like a test-heavy class, straight to the point I'd recommend not taking this class She's a great teacher though,h everyone's circumstances are different in terms of cut out time for school.
Pros: Rocks Are Cool, I Love Them. Fun To Learn About Them. Cons: Nitpicky Overparticular Not Fun Takes Herself Way Too Seriously, Grading Rubric Is A Lot. We Are Learning About Rocks. You'd Think It Was (Rock)et Science. This Class Does In Fact, Not Rock. Do Not Recommend.
She was cool and chill teacher ❤️💙
very to the point.
Very chill, very easy, do not be afraid of the other reviews. Dr. Kokorowski was amazing :)

This class, while fun, is exhausting with a lot of assignments and quizzes. Each week, I had 5 to 7 quizzes ALONE and it got me mentally burned out. If you will take this class take it alone because your other classes will not combine well with this one.
Class is extremely work heavy, with a really bad grading system where certain categories can completely ruin your grade if you miss. My grade was taken down 20% due to a single assignment. Final project is too much work for a simple summer class, is graded way too strictly, and she is very picky with the way it is done. DO NOT TAKE if you want GE.
If you have to take her as a GE class, please don't. The amount of work for a one-unit lab class is ridiculous and actually useless for most professions. Some of the material, I guess, could be relevant, but I can see 90% of it not applying to the majority of people.
Professor Kokorowski is a very good professor. I took her Intro to Oceanography class online, but that did not stop me from learning so much in this class. She had detailed notes for every lesson and unit, as well as video lectures that she made. Her midterm and final were very easy, and as long as you take notes, you will do fine.
Prof Kokorowski is very nice and you can tell she's passionate about teaching. This class has a very heavy workload, lots of quizzes, and strict w/ grading. If you turn work in early you have a chance to correct and turn in for a better grade. Recommend ONLY if you're DEEPLY INTERESTED in the ocean.
One of the most extraordinary professors I've ever had the honour of working with. Her course is intensive, however she cares deeply for each of her students & leaves thoughtful feedback for each of them. She is absolutely brilliant, & her lectures are engaging. She offers extra credit opportunities as well, & dives into many fascinating topics.
This professor was the most difficult I have taken. She is clearly knowledgable in her fields and her class is very well organized, BUT! she is VERY particular with the discussion posts, and if you are not detailed enough you will be knocked a grade. To get a good grade, you must follow everything exactly. If you miss anything it is bad.
Way too much information for this course. A lot of time-consuming homework. Was hard to keep up when you are full time student.
Of all the online classes I have ever taken, this is by far the most annoying and useless. Avoid this class and teacher like the plague.
