Very helpful, fun, and candid teacher. Never a dull moment - one complaint is her tardiness and tendency to cancel class

Great teacher! Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Her class was a lot of fun!

One of the best techers I have ever had at Akron!!!
She made class interesting. Great teacher!
I had her for Greek Lit and Greek Myth. Wonderful teacher, at times it's hard to keep up with her reading demands but she clarrifies everything wonderfully! Great at adding culture to your life. Works with the students for success! Funny, personal, and GR
class is very interesting, more difficult than it should be, she doesnt cover all material, but what she does cover she does well
She thaught me about Pandora's jar :O
hott teacher
AMAZING prof. interesting, thought provoking, funny, listens to students concerns,A+. One of the BEST professors at Akron!!!!
Interesting teacher, impossible tests
Extremely likeable prof. Tests can be a little hard, but she helps you out if she knows they were too tough. I would like to take her again.
Test are hard, but she gives you everything you need to know in the lecture notes. and she is hot.
Wow what an interesting teacher! BUT: her tests are absolutely IMPOSSIBLE. Memorizing 100 pages of notes, and the smallest details will be on the test. But she is the most interesting teacher I have ever had.
Extremely helpful, and one of the sexiest women in the world!!!
best professor i've ever had.
easily the best teacher i've ever had.
Took this in the summer. Is truely one of those classes you will get out of it what you put in. By no means is it an easy course, but it is not impossible. I think most will agree that Pollock is a very interesting and engaging professor and does a wonderful job.
wow, made class and projects so ridiculously fun! plus i'm a girl and even i thought she was super hot.
I LOVE HEATHER! She makes class so incredibly fun and interesting. She also has concern for her students as people, not pupils. She is a 21 year old caught in a 30 year old body. LOVE HER!

This class was absolutely amazing. Heather is a wonderful teacher and really does the subject justice!
honestly one of the greatest professors ive ever had.. super hot, and an awesome personality. she can integrate luke skywalker into mythology.. that kicks ass alone
She was the best professior that I have had here. I look forward to taking more of her classes.
great teacher! makes the class extremely interesting and makes greek myth easy to relate to. keep up on the reading and you should be fine.
Best teacher I've ever had. She just won the outstanding part time faculty award too. If you get the chance, def try and take one of her classes...too bad she doesn't teach more of them.
An amazing teacher. She can relate myth to the modern world, and make it interesting. She is definately in the top five teachers of my entire life.
Great professor and a great class! Tests aren't hard but they aren't a cakewalk. Attendence isn't required but you need to be at her lectures to do well.
The class is pretty easy, if you study then you will do well on the tests. She is a really good teacher, can answer any questions and the information is interesting...if you have to take a humanities class, def. take the sports class, it was interesting, plus she is a good teacher.
Heather Pollock is an amazing teacher, and in my 30's, I have had quite a few. I would rate her as the best all around professor I have ever had...she is brilliant, hilarious, and as helpful as one could ask for. Her class was a pleasure to take.
Heather is truly an amazing professor and she is breathtakingly beautiful to boot. Take any class of hers you can, you WILL learn something.
if you want to take a fun class this is it. You will learn a lot and get a few laughs while doing it.
Excellent teacher!
Great class, very fun, excellent teacher.
Mrs. Pollock Is one of the nicest professors you can have I had none of the pre-req's to the course and I understood everything well It was overall a fun course
Heather's class are always the best. Even if you have little interest in the subject I recommend anything she teaches because she makes everything exciting. Very laid back, forthcoming and actually a real person. It is refreshing to take her courses. Highly recommended.
Heather is a very personable teacher who really is spirited in her work. Her enthusiasm is infectious and you really cant help but be interested. I wish her the best and students should enjoy her class. It is pretty easy to be successful when you are engaged with what is going on in the class, there won't be any surprises.
My favorite teacher yet, Heather was the best you can tell she loves Greek mythology and it really shows, I learned so much from this class and loved her teaching style, take this class if you can you will not be disappointed
Awesome professor, she is the best that I have had and this is my last semester in my senior year. She was great, I highly recommend this class!!!
Heather is one of the best teacher's I've ever had. Class was always fun, she is always willing to help you if you don't understand something, and she made you interested in the subject. I can't wait to take another class of hers!
Awesome class, awesome teacher. You will learn everything you need to know about Greek myth. However, the whole class is basically note taking. Tests are fairly easy and straight forward as long as you take good notes and pay attention in class.
This Prof really knows what she is talking about. Her knowledge of myth is amazing. Easy to understand and she doesn't ask any more of you than any other Prof. Because of Heather I am starting a Classical Studies Minor. Can't wait to have her again.
loved the class. love her. taking greek lit next semester with her. she is hilarious and if you have a crude sense of humor you'll for sure love her!!
Coolest prof ever. I had her for mythology and Greek lit and will probably take sports in ancient Greece this summer just to hang out with her. We even went out to 69 Taps on the last day of class! She makes everything really fun and interesting and relates classical literature to modern life. Guys, she's hot, but married. She takes an interest in her students' lives and gives great hugs!
Awesome prof. She is really cool and so helpful. Explains things really well. Tests are not to bad either.
Amesome professor! I rearranged my schedule the following semester just to take another class with her! She really cares that her students learn and understand what she is teaching.
Take her class. She's awesome and she's hot.
This prof is one of the best I've had! She is enthusiastic about the subject and always willing to chat with students that want to learn more about myth. Her excellent sense of humor keeps class interesting (though the content does a great job already). If you go to class and take notes, you will do well in the course. Highly recommended! :)
Without a doubt one of the best teaches I've ever had the pleasure of being taught by. She really knows her subject, and is very helpful if you have any questions. Her humor makes the class absolutely wonderful. I cannot recommend her enough.
Really a great person and will help you in any way she can. Really funny and makes things easy to understand. Took her for Greek Myth, which I myself love, and made it easy for me and others to learn. Always will listen if you need help. TAKE HER GREEK MYTH CLASS!! SO FUN! And she's hot!
Awesome professor. She's funny and makes the subject even more interesting. She's very fair in her grading. She's not afraid to speak about any topic. Highly recommend.
Fantastic.
If you think that Greek Myth, Lit, or history is irrelevant to your major or education, take a class with Heather. You will learn that in reality, the influence of Ancient Greece on everyday modern life is vital, and unquestionable. Heather's courses are some of the best. She is a uniquely genuine, and smart as hell professor. Loved it.
She was one of the best teachers I've had at UA so far! She makes class interesting and fun. She makes the class involved in discussions. She is such a wonderful person!
She was the best teacher!!! Extremely knowledgeable about what she was teaching and was able to pull answers out of nowhere. This class was not easy but she made it easy to learn. I would recommend her as a teacher to anyone and everyone. Can't wait to take another one of her classes.
Extremely smart and energetic about the course material, genuinely interested in her students. She sets the bar high as brings you up to her level. The University of Akron is fortunate to have her on staff. I can't wait to take another one of her classes.
great instructor !
Very smart and caring teacher, excellent knowledge on pretty much anything having to do with ancient Greece with a clear love of etymology. It's a bonus that she is easy on the eyes as well.
Amazing teacher. Very easy to understand, organized, provides clear explanations for any questions, loves student comments, knows everyone's name, and concerned about students on a personal level. Could not have asked for a better teacher or a more interesting class. Made me want to pick up a classics minor
Heather showed concern for student development and understanding. I enjoyed this class and would recommend it to my fellow students.
Honestly one of the best professors I have had while at the University of Akron. She was always energetic and presented the information in a way that everyone could understand, such as using current movie references. I would defiantly suggest taking a class from her if you get the chance.
Heather was a very good instructor and taught the information well, she's very knowledgeable about the info and she kept it interesting. The tests are not too difficult if you keep up with the material and study. Highly recommend taking this class for humanities requirement or for pure interest.
Definitely my favorite professor. She is energetic and a total pistol, she tells it like it is. I had little interest prior to the class but she kept me engaged and I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Would take her myth class if I needed another gen ed credit
She is a great professor. Probably the best I've had while in school at Akron.
Pollock is hands down one of the greatest professors or teachers I have ever had. Loves the material she teaches and loves teaching it. She's a tough grader but in a good way. Always willing to explain things more than once to make sure it's understood. She's the reason I'm a Classics Minor, and I wish I could take more classes taught by her1
good teacher - picky grader
Definitely THE best teacher I ever have!! She will make you love Greek and Roman cultures more and you would want to take more classes related to them, especially with her teaching the classes.
The best professor I've ever had. She answered difficult questions thoroughly and considerately. She is approachable. She often asked students questions during discussion, which made it easier to be engaged in the topic. Grading is fair. Tests are not hard if you pay attention in class and refresh your knowledge by reading. Lastly, GO TO CLASS.
Overall great teacher. Involves the class and makes it fun.
The class is a general education course, not a higher level junior senior or even major course and it should be taught like a general education course. She received her masters in Greek culture and I felt like she was testing us like we were going to receive one as well. Class is extremely hard, she doesn't like to go over tests. Avoid.
Heather is so super helpful and, if at all possible, she makes mythology even more interesting! This is by far one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. She is inappropriately hilarious when telling stories and she explains everything thoroughly. As long as you attend class regularly, the tests and assignments should be a breeze.
Take this class. She is the most helpful teacher I have had. She truly makes learning come alive.
She's amazingly knowledgable of her content. Details galore. She can be a but blunt at times. She'll respect you if you do your work, ask questions and participate. Most of my research for projects came from online sources rather than the books she requires. Don't slack and you'll pass. Heather is cool with a lot, just don't try to correct her.
She's everything you'd want in an instructor: helpful, clear, friendly, constructive. She made the readings fun.
Pretty much the best teacher at the UA. She takes you on a journey through "greekness" and I would recommend her any day of the week. She is not easy especially in her Greek lit .class, but you walk away having learned something. Her Greek lit. class is a bit tough but her myth class is AMAZING! 1110.
Professor Pollock is a fun yet tough teacher who engages the class and makes it enjoyable. She's like Robin Williams in Dead Poet's Society without the sad stuff.
She is such a good teacher! I recommend her to anyone! She only has a few tests and like 2 assignments (which are super easy). As long as you take good notes and study them, you'll pass. Barely used the book. She says you have to read it and blah blah blah buuuuttt her lectures are on the book so if you take good notes you're fine.
Heather takes this class WAY WAY WAY too serious. tests are hard, and she grades essays harder than both of my English Comp professors. I would never take this class again, and would never recommend heather. I have a higher grade in AnatomyPhysiology 2.. hated it if you haven't noticed.
Heather is one of the best UA professor!! I took both Greek Myths and Greek Lit with her and would love to take her again if she ever teaches any other classes. You will never fell asleep in her class because she will make you fall in love wGreek culture! Take good notes, attend all the classes and you will do well. Her tests are very fair game!
Heather enjoys the subject she teaches and you can tell right off the bat. She is passionate about being a Classics professor. i had her for Greek Myth and she definitely knows her stuff. There are 3 tests, 2 homework assignments, 1 group project which is really fun, and plenty of reading. She makes learning about Ancient Greece truly fun! Take her
Absolutely loved the class! Would take again in a heartbeat and am considering taking more classes of hers just because she is teaching them. She is very passionate about her class and it shows because she makes everything very interesting and made class very enjoyable. Tests are hard if you don't pay attention or read the book.
Awesome professor but tough grader and tough class. There is a lot of work/reading to be done but you can easily get an A or B if you do all the work and follow her instructions. very helpful and always willing to help outside of class. Her extreme passion for Greek Lit/Myth makes it to where she expects you to feel the same way. Very hot though.
The most effective professor I have ever had. The tests are difficult but fair assessments, as are the papers. She is willing to help anyone who is struggling as long as they are willing to speak to her ahead of time. She has great concern for the well-being of her students and a fantastic command of classics material.
The new Heroes class for Honors Colloquia is super easy! Heather is very clear from the beginning about what she expects. No tests, but papers are expected to be written, but they are easy. She expects discussion within the class, but it is easy to get this going. Great class and professor!!!
She is very nice, but her class is hard.
Heather is a friend to all. She instills a desire to learn into her classes with interesting lectures that connect many ideas, not just from mythology. You do have to try, and she will grade you based on what she thinks you earned. I look for classes that she teaches now because she really is that great of a professor.
Heather is an amazing professor! Her lectures are great and really make you think. I had her for an Honors Colloquium, and the subject matter and assignments encouraged you to think outside the box. Attendance was taken daily and we were graded on 3 papers (minimal guidelines) and a final project (subject+structure your choice). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Dr. Pollock is a very energetic teacher who instills a love for the class materials to all. She can be very forceful and domineering, but she is very nice outside of class and is always ready to help. Her Hero class is especially good!
She is just a sweet, goodhearted, down-to-earth, respectful human being. I don't know but all of the nicest possible words that you could ever think of would be applicable to her. She helps and pushes students to their very best. She highly respects diversity in her classes. Her tests aren't that as hard as long you study the material. Love her!
Heather is passionate about teaching and it shows in the classroom. Her projects really encourage you to think, grow and actually apply your learning.
The Hero course is discussion based rather than your typical lectures. Not much work outside of class; just reading selected novels and a few response papers to films watched outside of class. No exams. Wonderful prof, very personal and caring. Good sense of humor. Requires you to think deeply to see the hero in yourself and the people around you.
She is an amazing professor! I took 2 honors colloquium with her because she is that great! There are so many good discussions in class. If you put in the effort, you will get an A, no problem.
She's nice enough, but she grades hard, and if she does not like your opinions, she'll take points off for them.
I took Mythology of Ancient Greece over the summer for a classics elective. I really enjoyed the class, and Heather's lectures are actually really entertaining and engaging. There is a good amount of reading, but it's not difficult. If you follow her lectures and participate in class, it's an easy A, no surprises. I highly recommend her.
Funny, kind and a genuinely caring professor which you rarely find at the college level. Had her for two semesters, if you show up to class, you'll do fine, if you don't you won't pass. I highly recommend taking this class from this professor. n
As expected, there are a lot of stories in Greek Myth to keep track of, but Heather's interactive and hilarious lecture style helped me retain most of the information before even studying. Her lectures line up with the textbook really well, so if you take good notes in class and read the books, this class will be an easy A. Definitely recommend!
Heather is one of the best professors at the university. Her lectures are thorough and entertaining. If you keep up on readings and participate during class, you'll do great! She's very attentive towards her students and does expect participation. She is also extremely intelligent in all aspects, especially origin of words. Extremely hilarious too!
Lectures had tons of information, but if you participated in class and prepped for the tests an A was very possible for anyone. She was very entertaining and a pleasure to listen to and it showed that she really loves her subject. She made a subject I enjoyed studying even better. I would take her for any class.
Heather is one of the best educators at UA. She really tries to help us learn something cool and apply it to the real world. Lectures are both funny and full of info. Note-taking can be hard sometimes bc of the amount of context needed to make coherent thoughts. Exams were easy if study the notes. Highly recommend this class.
I took her for Greek Myth and we talked more about politics than Myth. She's very passionate about Greek Myth but she's also very obtuse to students' opinions if they don't coincide with hers. Personally, I tried discuss something with her and my opinion wasn't the same as hers and she wouldn't even let me talk. Wouldn't take her again.
Heather is a great professor. I took her Myth class to fill my Gen Ed. TAKE HER CLASS! She is very Liberal, and has very intense opinions on certain subjects, I recommend steering clear of those topics. Her lectures are very interactive and fun, if you put in the time, you will learn a lot!
AMAZING professor she was so sweet and funny in her lectures. If anyone is in honors I definitely recommend taking her hero class.
Heather was a fantastic teacher. Lots of reading, but the books were great. She is very encouraging and taught a lot of applicable information. The things we talked about were relevant and timely, but she tossed in some good historical stuff too!! Planning on taking another of her classes in the spring!
If you get the chance to take Heather, take it!!! She is an amazing instructor and her lectures are never boring. I had her in the morning and I think it was the only morning class I never felt tired in. Her lectures are engaging, she's extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the material, and she's also kind of hilarious.
The lectures were engaging and supplemented the reading material nicely. If you do not attend lecture you will miss out on a lot of information. The lectures are fun and easy to engage in, and the professor is hilarious and down to earth. She gives good feed back on homework and wants to see you succeed. Test are easy if you study a bit for them.
Heather was hands down one of the coolest professors I ever had! I took her Greek Myth class and while some of the material is rather dry, she does an awesome job of making it entertaining. She is highly educated in her field, well-versed with current events, and hilarious. I would take her class again in a heartbeat.
I took her for one of my Myth classes and she truly was an amazing professor. Never once was I bored in her lectures. If you miss this class theres a lot of info that may be missed. Overall amazing class and you can tell the professor genuinely cared for her students.
Do not take this class if you don't like group projects. The group project is a skit you have to create with a group of people. very stressful to organize this, with little direction.
Personally, I do not recommend Professor Pollock. She waits to do all of her grading until the very end of the year. It will literally take her 4 months to grade something it should only take a week and don't be surprised when the grade you get back is a lot lower than expected. Boring class and below average professor.
Not worth your time, she is a extremely harsh grader and difficult to work with.
Attendance is not graded, but if you miss a day you miss a lot of material covered in lecture. You will need 4 textbooks for this course which is kind of a pain to go about finding. The class assignments total to exactly 100 points, which kind of makes it stressful when completing the graded assignments.
Heather's Greek Myth class is a mixed bag - engaging lectures but can be politically opinionated. Unstuckstudy and ChatGPT were helpful for studying. Overall, a solid class if you're willing to put in the work.
