she gives great notes, but sometimes the material is not explained well. she is really nice and for her first year here, she is good. she isnt a bad teacher... so i would recommend her to people.
She is really spacey- forgets to mention tests and quizzes- also gives pop quizzes- notes are by powerpoint- everything is staight out of the book.
Tons and Tons of notes. That she doesn't explain very well. Power points notes that she goes goes over quickly so you dont understand what you are writing. She goes more in depth on tests then her notes do. Hard Tests that cover 3-4 Chapters & POP Quizes
Not a very helpful teacher at all. She's more into talking about her daughter then teaching the class. Nothing is really explained that well, and that's why a lot of people fail the tests. The class is down right boring and the notes are endless.
She talks about really stupid stuff at way to early in the morning. Her notes are good, and all you have to do is read your notes and the book and you'll do fine on your tests that she fails to mention until the class before.
I think she is a sweet instructor. You just need to follow the notes and the book, noticed I said the book, and spend about an hour or 2 on material and you're set. She's very helpful if you ask her.
I actually love her class. I am not science oriented but I find her explainations to the materila to be consice and clear. I also find the material in this class to be interesting unlike the lab that goes with the class. She is very approachable.
Her class is fairly easy if you are somewhat good at Bio. She's really nice and very approachable so if you need help do ask her. Just make sure that you study the book and notes. I'm glad I had her for Bio. Her class is better than that stupid lab!!!
she is a great teacher. very nice, concise and clear. nice personality. doesnt talk about her personal as much as some people say. tests are difficult but if youll read and keep up with the notes youll do fine. i got a c just by looking at notes
Heather is super nice. Really laid back and hippied out...but class is easy, even for us non bio major people. tests are multiple choice and she tests only what she gave in pwr. point notes..gives free 100's when attendence is low. so yeah take her class.
Mrs. Pritchard is cute and understanding. Everything comes directly from lecture notes and the book. The tests are multiple choice and not hard if you study and read.
The class was difficult, but it's college, expect that. She was very approachable and willing to work with students during or outside of office hours. You will have to study to do well in the class, no attendence policy, but tests mainly come from notes
I thourougly enjoyed this class in comparison to other science classes I have taken. As long as you showed up to class, an A was possible and a B very possible. I found myself extremely attracted to her by the end of the semester also.
She is very nice, relates things to real life which makes the class all more interesting. I've taken Biology several time before, and this was the best class I've ever had.
She is awful. She talks about stupid stuff that no one cares about. She tells awful stories. She gives pop quizes so you have to go to class. Her tests are insanely detailed. Don't take this class
REALLY HARD!!! Tests are insanely hard and don't cover anything in her notes or the book. Acts like we're majoring in plant bio. I studied for hours and still got a 36 on a test! STAY AWAY!!
It's amazing that I have a low B in this class but have an A average in my 300 level Pols major classes. Take someone else if you want to maintain a good GPA. She seems like a nice lady though.
Heather's class is fun to go to, but her tests are HARD. Don't get me wrong. All bio classes at cofc are hard. Her Test are HARD HARD HARD. I studied 5 hours and made a 68 on the second test. If you want a C, take Heather for BIO 102.
she seems really nice and fun to be around, but as a professor she is way to hard. bio 102 is not for bio. majors and she is making it like it is. we have to know every little detail about everything. this is affecting my gpa.
Not that bad. You pretty much have to go to all the classes to do well but it wasn't that hard for me to get a B and I probably missed a dozen classes. And god she's hot!
Class is not easy. All class every day you take notes and are responsible for all of it. Tests are unbelievably difficult sometimes. The only saving grace is thinking about her naked.
Her tests are insanely hard, but an A is possible if you have all class notes and read the book. Class isn't mandatory but STRONGLY suggested! Even if you hate the material, she's still great to look at;)
Requires LOTS of reading and outside understanding. Grade mostly comes from tests. She teaches from the BIO112 text book. Study from the CD.
For God's sake stay away! Tests will make you cry the moment you look at them. Seriously, if you are going to take this class . . .LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT TEACHER, TRUST ME!
THE F-ING STUDY GUIDES DON'T EVEN LIST THE RIGHT UNITS! TAKE HER IF YOU FEEL LIKE WORKING REALLY HARD FOR NO REWARD.
Really nice lady...Tests are HARD! Study study study....
She seems really nice but class is way too hard for a beginners biology class!!! She doesnt take attendance- though if you never go to class you will do horrible on the tests. Wait... you still do bad on the tests even if you do go to class.
SUCKS! she tries to come off like shes cool, but instead she is completly uptight, and is very UNHELPFUL! youll spend most of your time teaching yourself,DONT TAKE HER, she has no idea what shes doing.
If you aren't good at memorization, don't take bio. She is very nice-but she is too ditzy and she doesn't seem to know as much about bio as she should. Her notes are a waste of time b/c they are so general and repetitive. Test/Quizzes are soo easy!
For the Love of God don't take this lady. Her tests are extremely difficult, and are solely based on concepts. She comes off all cool, but really she is the devil incarnate. She doesn't have an attendance policy, but you can't misss a single class and pass.
EASY EASY CLASS! her quizzes are simple, her tests harder-but EVERY question is on the review CD given with the book...so essentially you get to see the questions on the test. She's also really nice, but kind of ditzy..i go once a week and have a 92..look at the freakin CD people!
Easy quizzes, easy tests, and she tries to make the class fun. The quizzes are straight out of the notes and the tests are directly off of the CD. I don't read the book and all I study is the CD questions and have a 97. Very easy class.
Quizzes comes straight from notes- easy. Tests are impossible- you better memorize the entire book including the pictures. I worked my ass off, went to SI sessions, and did extra credit and ended up with a C+.
She is so cute and enthusiastic! Its wonderful. Class lecture is interesting, and as long as you go over your notes and read the textbook or watch the CD you will get a good grade. Take this class, its def. not too difficult. I got an A
Do NOT take her for Bio101 if u do u might as well buy the bio111 book because that is where all charts diagrams and notes come from. You have the same quizes as 111 class. HORRIBLE teacher can't explain things well makes things more complicated than they need to be.
I had a D in this class before I realized the tests come straight of f the CD in the book. Literally every single question is on that CD so do the practice tests and you can ace her tests without trying. Seems like a nice person, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't like her.
take her only if you have time to read the book and teach yourself everything ... she doesnt teach at all, only power points the chapter, but not good at explaining ... a quiz almost every week and a few tests
UGHH...Couldn't force my self to go to class because it was boring and the notes are online, plus she doesn't have an attendence policy. The test are ridiculosly hard but the quizzes are easy and some of them were take-home. Will never ever take her again, Good Luck if you get stuck with her!!
i dont think it's as much her fault as it is the course structure, but there's no discussion, only copying down bullet point for the entire class. i didnt learn anything, spent hours memorizing definitons, and hate everything about science now.
she was a great teacher and was eager to help... i recommend taking pritchard's bio 111 class...
Nice enough lady, tries to get class involved. Only advice: memorize the CD chapter tests and you'll ace her tests-every question is verbatim from the CD. Decent class
Wow, I don't know what everyone is talking about, she was great. I came in late b/c I forgot we had a test and she let me make it up later. Since there are like 50 students there wasn't much discussion, but copying notes. How much easier can it be all multiple choice tests. Very helpful and flexible
take the CD's chapter tests before taking one of her tests...it will help. tests are difficult, but she offers LOTS of extra credit. very sweet and she LOVES biology!
She's a good teacher and very passionate about Biology. Made it entertaining to go to class. Do Study the CD tests and you'll be fine.
Yeah, def dont take this class! You basically teach yourself the whole book and lectures are pointless to go to unless there is a quiz. She's really sarcastic alot and thinks she knows everything. Her explanations dont make sense, but most of the time she doesnt take the time to explain anything in the first place.
DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID-MEMORIZE THE CD. Seriously, I made a D in the class bc I didnt figured out the CD trick faster. I dont think she made up a single test question, they are all from the chapter tests on the CD that comes w/ your bio book. Memorize it and you'll make an A! Tests and easy weekly quizzes are pretty much the only grades
You basically have to teach yourself everything. Use the CD for the test and you will do fine. SHe also has a very annoying Voice if you can put up with that.
You basically don't need to attend class (except for a very occasional quiz) if you memorize the CD chapter tests--easy as **** if you do that-guaranteed A
Awful class she def doesnt use the CDs anymore DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Im struggling just to make a C. Tests are very hard but quizzes are easy.
Hardest tests I have ever taken!
this class is simple. just go and you will be fine. the tests arent bad at all. i havent read one chapter out of the book and ive gotten A's on every test and quiz just from looking over the notes she gives in class. nice lady..take her
i was excited about taking this class. but her tests are soo hard. for the first test i studied every day and 5 hrs. the night before and still only made a b- tests get harder as they go. it's a boring class dont take her!
This is the hardest class i've ever taken!!! The tests are impossible! I studied for numerous hours for every test and i'm failing. I'm telling you...run for your life! Unless you took a really hard AP Bio class in high school, don't take this class.
She's a terrible teacher! Her test are hard as crap. She goes off on random tangents she made me hate biology and the sad thing is that i'm supposed to be a bio major :(
Give her a break, biology is hard so don't blame it on the professor. Read the chapters little by little and do the online quizzes and you will do fine on the tests. Lectures are not a requirement, but they help in knowing what to focus on when the test comes around. Quizzes are easy, and she is very organized.
Worst teacher ever! Do not take her! She doesn't explain anything and just writes random notes on the overhead!
I loved this teacher! She's so fun! True, the tests are hard...and you have to study alot, but come on, ya'll are in 111! She gives SO many extra credit points. She gives regular quizes wich are easy, i got an A in the class. Just make flash cards from the notes and study hard and you'll do great!
Her tests are sorta difficult but as long as you study you should do well. Her quizzes are a joke because they are soooooo easy. Other than that her class is just a lecture and she's really funny so she keeps you interested.
This woman in evil! Do not take her!
this woman sucks! had her for 111,hard but wasn't that bad...112 whole diff. story. soo boring, soo hard. her tests are nothing like her notes. in 111 she gave xtra credit points, in 112 we haven't gotten the first extra credit project yet. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is a pretty easy teacher if you go to class and take notes! The tests come straight from the notes!! Tests are not that bad, all multiple choice.
Best prof. I've had so far. She's funny and makes microbio lectures interesting. I went to class, did the online exercises, and made an A. A lot of people don't like her, but it's just that microbiology is a somewhat hard subject and those kids won't like any prof.
Very nice, but reaaaaallly unhelpful! Will not meet to discuss grades, she justs posts everything on her door. Tests are tricky!
she is the worst teacher ever. her office hours were during one of my class and she refused to meet with me at a different time. the only thing she does in class is read her power points that are exactly from the book. her test are impossible. i got a B in Bio 111 and i failed her class. do not take her if at all possible!!!
Not very much personal contact with her. She just stands in front of the class and talks, it's not very interactive. The class was hard for me, because each test covers a ton of material. No quizzes or homework.
Tests are a bit hard, but it isn't anything a little studying wont cure for the most part. Quizzes are pretty easy. Class can be dull at times, but its microbiology, so its not the most interesting subject anyway. My only complaint is that class wasn't interactive, she didn't ask questions or show movies much most of the time she just lectured.
I enjoyed her class, i am not incredibly interested in this stuff but she made it OK. easy to meet with at office hours, tests are hard but not terrible. SI and reading the books is very helpful.
her tests are unrelated to what she does in class
Pritchard explains topics very well and gives clear notes. Tests are completely multiple choice, somewhat difficult, but definitely doable if you read the chapters and take good notes. Easy quizzes and very little homework. Would recommend.
I really do wish she answers her e-mails. Her tests are hard (at least hard compared to the other classes I'm taking) and the only reason why I have a B- is because I go to SI. I enjoy her lectures (peppered with quirky biology FYI), but you better read your text if you expect to pass her class.
Pritchard uses a basic power point-lecture format. Whatever is on the power point is on the test. For better understanding of material go to SI and read the book. Reading the book is essential. She is very helpful if you have any questions in class or out. She is spunky/quirky. Had there not been 80 people in the class it would have been awesome!
MUST GO TO SI TO BE SUCCESSFUL! And read the book so you can better understand her lectures. You need to study. Some people didn't like her, but they dont realize that she's doing well for the amount of material she has to cover in a semester. Other teachers would be much much worse. Tests kinda hard. Great review for final=easy. Take her.
Her tests come right from her notes so you have to go to class. Reading the book can really help clarify some of the topics. Tests are difficult, but her final is easy. She covers a lot of material and can be a little dull at times, but overall she is a really good teacher.
Go to class, SI, and read the book and you'll do fine. Her test are kinda of hard but her final is pretty easy. If you're willing to work hard I would recommend taking her.
Don't take her if you have no intention of ever studying. Her tests are hard, but all of the test material is written down on the powerpoints she does, so if you look through the book to clarify the concepts (and go to SI) you should be fine if you're studying enough.
I really enjoyed this class. I was really not looking forward to taking it but she kept my attention are was very funny/spunky. Her test are kinda hard but study and you will do fine. SI is very helpful and is highly recommended. Overall take her!
You will definitly learn alot in this class. The material is very comprehensive, however it will teach you how to study. If you work hard you can do well. But if u slack off you WILL fail. Take notes, READ THE BOOK, and study HARD and you'll do ok.
Mrs. Pritchard is extremely hard to understand and very bad at explaining things in class. It is a certainty that you will have to teach yourself out of the textbook, even if you go to every class and copy down every powerpoint slide. I do not recommend her at all.
I have never met anyone who was less helpful in my life. Reads right from a PowerPoint in class, does NOT answer emails, will not make appointments outside of her office hours (even though I had class at that time) Exams were impossibly difficult for it being a class for non-majors... Worked so hard for a C. Ridiculous in every way. Runnnnn.
Reads straight from a power point. Can go to this class and pass out. As long as you get the power points from a classmate you didnt miss a single thing. Quizzes are extremely easy but her exams are KILLERS! Busted my ass for a C+
Dr. Pritchard's cool! :D People act like that class is soooo hard. Just go to class, take the notes, and study them for the test! She's very helpful and humorous, and she makes the material easy to understand. If you came to college to learn, take her. If your goal in college is to marry rich while doing as little work as possible, don't! DURRR!
HORRIBLE TEACHER! She is very inconsistent and flakey. She does not help students when you go to her only office hours at 7 AM!!! If I could go back, I would have switched professors! Do not take her!
avoid at all costs. since im in athlete, i couldn't go to her office hours. she could not care less. she even told me that athletes were already spoiled enough, why should she go out of her way for one? ...i'm not on an athletic scholarship. nothing is handed to me. got a D+ after studying my ass off. total psycho. don't take her if possible.
She made it a very hard class. I don't like science in general, but I've always done well in Biology. She only gave three tests through the semester and they were insanely difficult and the whole of my average. Very flighty and not a good lecture.
Her class is so hard to do well in. She doesn't count attendance, but in order to get the notes she gives a powerpoint in class every single day. The 4 exams and final is your whole grade. They're all multiple choice but she makes them soo hard.
This is a great class! She does a great job explaining concepts in her powerpoints, but you have to go to class as she doesn't post them online. If you put in the time to study biology you will do just fine on her tests; study your notes and pay attention! Plus she is kind and cracks quirky jokes all the time. Love this class
I love this teacher!!! This class is not easy but she makes it interesting and does a great job at clarifying the concepts. She often make jokes and has funny pictures which make things easy to remember. If you go to class, take notes and pay attention you will be fine. Her tests are very straight forward.
This is a hard class. The material is a lot and very difficult, which would make the class hard by itself but she doesn't like to clarify things at all. She doesn't answer her e-mails or let you make up a test. You do have to study a lot (it's a lot of material). She'll answer questions after class but they're by rote and off of the unfocused pp.
This is a very hard class with a lot of material to cover in a short time. Test are only 50 questions but the wide span of material she packs into them will kill your average. She doesn't really have much advice on how to do better in the class. Don't take her.
I got an A but it definitely took a lot of work. I always read, studied my notes every day, and got tutored at least once a week (normally three times the week of a test). She didn't reply to any emails that I sent, doesn't have office hours, and if you set up an appointment with her, she isn't very helpful. Three tests, iclicker grade, and final.
This class was pretty easy. Just go to class and take notes. I only used my book before the first test and I never used it again. As long as you go to class you should get at least a B.
VERY HARD!!!! Attendance is not required and your grade is only comprised of 3 fifty question exams, the final, and an clicker grade. Great lady, funny, tries hard but she can't do much in a class so large (120+/-)...perhaps take her if the class size is smaller or you are just the most knowledgable person on earth.
Does not deserve the harsh ratings. Class is not particularly hard at all. Just go to class and copy her notes. Study them and thats it. Iclicker quiz every day (everyone shares answers) which also doubles as extra credit. 3 tests of her power points word for word. If you work remotely hard youll do well.
Class is extremely boring, but as long as you copy the notes you can do whatever in the class. Her ppts are very unorganized; the book is super helpful for test prep. Clicker questions daily are easy, so if you go to class every day and don't fail the tests you're basically guaranteed an A. Lab grade is part of class grade, which helps too.
I hated this freaking class. she is boring and the test make absolutley no sense. I was ding good until that bum ass final came out. I got a 29 and i was studyin the whole semester. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
People are way to harsh. Go to class and study your notes and you'll do fine. She keeps it interesting and the powerpoints are very helpful. The material is not easy to begin with but thats not her fault. As long as you study yo'll do fine. Everyone giving her a bad review is just lazy.
Her power points are unclear and disorganized. I think she responded to my emails once. Her tests are brutal. She is awful.
I had her for both bio 101 and 102. The class is really easy. Gives clicker quizzes everyday and the extra credit from that really helped my grade.
She's just not a good teacher plain and simple. The test averages were awful, but she made no attempt to understand why and fix the problem. The clicker questions are really not that helpful. She is such a boring lecturer. Her test are multiple choice but the wording is confusing/tricky. Way too hard for a gen- ed that non bio majors are taking.
Pritchard has absolutely been the worst professor I have had at the College. The lectures were unclear and unhelpful, she posted powerpoints but literally deleted all of the words from them before posting them. And the tests were almost impossibly difficult. Miserable experience in this class.
Heater is a great professor, she isn't hard on the students and as long as you show up to most lectures she has everything ready for you. There are OAKs quizzes that only she announces. The only things you need to worry about are the Poll EV questions for participation (which you can do wherever at a certain time), and ESPECIALLY the Mid+ Final.
Attendance is extra credit. She reads from power points and there are a lot of notes to take. Tests are really hard but you can make up those points by the OAKS quizzes and attendance points. Final was easier than the tests. She's pretty funny and you can get a good grade in this class if you attend. Book never used but helpful for review.
I liked Pritchard. she was super laid back and funny and made her lectures interesting. The only two things I did not like about her class was that her powerpoint were a little messy at times and she doesn't post all of them on oaks. The other thing is that her tests are tough. Do not underestimate them! She does give bonuses via poll-EV.
There are 3 test and 1 final. Attendance counts as extra credit added to the tests. Her notes can be confusing at times because there isn't enough info on the powerpoint to help remind you of everything for the test. Tests can be tricky. Open note, 2 chance quizzes are simple and often and helps your grade. 1 group project but it is simple.
She only gives 3 tests and a final and they're pretty tough, but also gives extra credit for showing up. Dreading going to her class because I could never pay attention to the lectures. Just reads from slides and expects you to learn from that.
Heather is a very funny teacher. She gives notes via powerpoint and thats all the tests are. Study the notes and you will be fine. Even though my test average was an 85(45% of the grade) I easily got an A because of the amount of extra credit she gives. Group presentation is an easy 100% and there is never any homework. I highly recommend
The first day she told us attendance wasn't mandatory. Well come the first test it turns out she moved the test date and didn't send out an email or anything. Then she told me that I couldn't pass anyways because I didn't do the group work we did in class, despite the fact that attendance is optional. She then told me to take it up with the head.
She's super funny and lectures are easy to get through. Tests are straight from your notes. MAKE SURE YOU STUDY DAILY. I would have done so much better on tests by doing that. She takes attendance but is really relaxed about it. Would definitely take her again!
I wound up dropping this class after midterms. After studying for countless hours for all of her test's and still failing, I felt hopeless. Come to find out however that I probably shouldn't have due to the fact that lab is 25% of the grade and there is a ton of extra credit. Will more than likely wind up taking her again.
she letchures, and doesn't use a book. lot of notes, so study a week before an exam
I took this class but dropped it after midterms. I have never studied so hard for a class. Tests are nothing like the notes and unless you have a strong background in Biology I would not recommend taking her. She posts the power points online however the tests are not reflective at all of the material. Would not take again.
Pritchard is really sweet and funny. Basically she just lectures during class but you must take notes. Study your notes every night if you want to do well on the test! She knows the material is hard so she gives lots of extra credit opportunities.
This was probably the worst class I have taken yet. The tests are extremely difficult and she was constantly changing test dates and when things were do making it impossible to stay organized. You also have group assignments. The only good thing was she does give a decent amount of extra credit, which will probably be the only reason I pass.
I absolutely love Prof. Pritchard. Although, her test are kind of difficult- if you study your notes you will do well. One major group project, and multiple open-note quizzes that should be easy 100%'s. EXTRA CREDIT.
Professor Pritchard is great. I took her for Bio 112 which is a challenging course in general. She gives 3 tests, one group project (present and you get an A), a few group quizzes that you can use notes on, and a final. Her extra credit saved my ass. If you went to 60% of the classes you automatically got 32 extra credit points. Would recommend!
I did not enjoy the class much because I took it to complete a general education requirement. She gives lots of extra credit and the class is doable. You have to study hard for the tests, but they are not bad if you do so. The class makes you fall asleep, but its not bad. For the credit, I would recommend.
I only passed her class because of extra credit. She's extremely cool and laid back but don't let the smile fool you. Her test are extremely hard and when she tells you "you'll do fine" don't believe her. Her notes aren't that helpful so be prepared to do some reading, that is if she gives you the right chapters to read. Attendance is extra credit
She really didn't care this semester so we only had one test (the final) and weekly quizes. Sometimes gave extra credit if you actually showed up. Actually, was very generous with extra credit.
