Amazing communicator, speaks at the students level. Extremely knowledgable in the field. Hands on in labs, approachable, friendly. Tests are very difficult however, attending every lab/lecture you should be prepared. STUDY!STUDY! Beats the alternative professor!!!
Good teacher. She makes lectures fun and easy to understand many difficult concepts. This class is basically very hard class and there are so many things to remember. Quiz every week, total 6 tests (3tests each lab and lecture), those are not easy at all. But she's very willing to helping students.
Anatomy is Hard, but H. Roberts gets a thumbs up from me! Very direct and to to the point. She is always there to help when you need it. There is no confliction with her teaching style. What she teaches is what she tests on. No "easy" grades. ALOT of studying. DON'T take with another Science!
She takes a very difficult subject and presents in a way that makes sense. The tests are HARD but if you attend class and stay on top of the material you should be okay. She is always available to help.
I have never had a teacher be so demeaning to students in my educational experience. She makes the students in my class feel that they can't ask questions and if they do, that they are stupid. Also, the structure under the chin (that wasn't explained) is the median raphe.
Best anatomy teacher at Sierra College. Very clearly explains things, but its the class itself which is extremely demanding. She is an awesome teacher, I wish she could teach my other science classes!
Depending upon her mood, she will either be very helpful, or you're on your own. She doesn't explain fully her presentations; can be vague on important issues. Is not a hands on instructor; Take another instructor, if possible.

tests are hard
Heather Roberts is an awesome professor!! She explained her lectures at a level that EVERYBODY could understand. She is very demanding and tests are very hard, but if you put in the work -and study time - no problem! I would HIGHLY recommend taking Bio Sci 5 - Human Anatomy from Professor Roberts!

Very moody, she makes you fell dumb when you come up to ask her a question, and she put thing on her test that we did not cover in class and she even tells us not to study them. So if you take her class and you make it to the final(STUDY YOUR PAST TEST)she told us not to study them and more than ½ was on the final test
Heather is very funny and gives interesting lectures. She makes the material easy to understand and puts her powerpoint slides on blackboard so you have ready-made notes. So far I have enjoyed her class. Not much homework, but a lot of studying if you want an A.
Heather is a very cool teacher, she is very approachable, and really loves what she teaches. She's a tough teacher though, and the class requires lots of studying, but is not very homework intensive.
I think that Heather does a great job at explainging the material to us in lecture. She knows her stuff and is eager to answer questions. Her mood on lab day depends on the time you have lab, if you can i highly suggest not taking the friday 8 am lab because she can be cranky and impatient with us.
Heather is very very moody! At times when you ask questions, she gives you a look like "you are kidding me, are you truly that stupid!" She can be funny, however. Her test are HARD. Her labs are a joke as she does not know how to teach them. She is vague bet she gives thorough test. She values her time and rushes you if you have any questions
she explains her lectures very clear and makes the class interesting but when it comes to the test, they're super hard!!! lab was okay, for those that knew what they were doing. as for the people that got lost, she did not help/approach them much to help out. if u can try taking this class w/another teacher!
There has to be another teacher for this class. Be scared - be very very scared. Take another bio/anatomy class before you take this Bio class as Heather will expect you to already know what she is teaching. Her lab should be the joke of the school - is that what you call teaching? 75 slots for 7A 35 for 7B does that tell you anything? RUN RUN
tough teacher with a bad attitude.she teaches info. on a clear level, but is unapproachable for personal distinguish. recommended to find alternative teachers.
I read comments from before and was scared of taking anatomy. But I think those students that don't work in the class are the ones that have the bad comments. Heather is AWESOME. You have to be willing to WORKto get a good grade. But this class is for nursing students-would U want a bad student to pass this class and be in the nursing field?
Heathers class is hard but she is a good teacher. She always tells you exactly what you need to know for the lab exams and is very helpful. She answers everyone's questions even if it takes away from class time. If you actually take the time to study you can pass this class. The lecture exams are hard so make sure really understand what shes asking
Best teacher I have had at Sierra College. I learned SO much from this class. Heather tells you exactly what will be on the tests and is very clear. I would definately recommend this teacher!
She is pretty good for lecture but very unhelpful in the lab.
Heather was an awesome teacher. She was pretty tough; however, if you need this class for pre-med or nursing, you will learn your stuff. Her lecture exams were pretty challenging. She seems a little stand offish at the begining, but she's there for you if she sees that you are trying. Hence, if you're a devoted student, she will help you. No fear.
I have her just for lab, not lecture. She is young and very down to earth. This is a tough class, but she tells you everything that will be on the test, so if you study your butt off, you will do well.
Heather is an awesome professor. The class isn't easy, nor should it be considering most students are going into a health career. Most material is memorization. She's always available for questions via email or cell phone.
Heather is a great teacher. A lot of info. in her classes, but you study you should do well. Very fair on her tests, tells you what you need to study. She is one of the best teachers I've had at Sierra.
Heather was a great teacher. Very knowledgeable in Anatomy. I enjoyed her in depth lectures and her preparedness in class. Study and you will do fine in this class...don't study and there is no way to catch up in the end because there is so much information and memorization.
Heather is a great teacher. Her class is not an easy one so it's important to study and keep up on your work. There's alot of memorization that's needed but she breaks things down in a manageable way. She is very helpful and does a good job explainsing the subject matter. I highly recommend her class.
sometimes says things that are inappropriate but I think she does it on accident
Heather is a great teacher that I ever had. She makes things so fun and her class was so enjoyable for everyone. I got an A las fall of 2006.
Heather is awesome!! She is very clear in everything she explains. She will always answer any questions you have. Better to take Bio. 5 in two semesters- Bio. 7a and 7b. It's a lot easier and funner. No reason not to get an A. Plus it's more time to study.
excellent instructor. Heather is personable and has a way of grabbing your attention. Her lectures have printable powerpoint slides on line. Her quizes contain questions almost identical to the exam. She prepares you well. No nasty surprises,
Great notes, undeniably clear lectures, usually fun. Her personality can get in the way sometimes, but she is a very good teacher. Take zoo with her instead of Dailey for a more modern animals approach (I hear Dailey is more about the dinosaurs). Both completely know their stuff though when it comes to zoology! Think Dailey old, Roberts young.
Intro to Ornithology was super fun. We had 1 take home quiz. Most of the time we walked around campus bird watching and took 2 trips to Folsom Lake. Final project was optional.
Great teacher. Tells you exactly what you need to know. She is very fair in her testing. Study your quizes - exam ??'s come right from them. Definitley recommend her!!
She's the best professor you'll find for Zoology in all of Sacramento. She's very straightforward. Study her slides and study guides and you'll do well on her tests. Wish all teachers could be like her. She really wants you to succeed and get an "A" and will give everyone one if they earn it which is very possible if you study her slides.
Wonderful, wonderful teacher! Attendance is crucial for a good grade. For any science/lab class, you have to expect to study twice as much. You will love Heather. She is fun, fair and patient with questions.
Heather is the best Bio teacher ever!!! She's halarious n often telling jokes in class to keep us entertain. Zoology is hard but she made it so much easier. Grades will be mostly based on Lecture+Lab exam+final+term paper, no HWs. The test comes exactly as in the study guide, so u just need to study from study guide n u'll get an easy A.
Took her summer online hybrid class easiest class ever. Since she posts grades at Blackboard I can say this with 100% certainty that the class average in my class was 95%. Very knowledgeable women with a good personality. Lecture Exams straight off studyguide word for word. It says it's a 4 hour class but really you get out in 1-2 hours.
She is very nice and laid back. Def. hardest class I've taken! Expect a test almost once a week. No hw, entire class is based off tests so if you do bad on those you have no chance. Extremely hard and long tests! But cool teacher other than that.
Took online. Very easy class to get an A in. Easy homework assignments every week and tests every other week (difficult). The teach is very helpful. If you have to take this class, take this teacher and TAKE IT ONLINE!!!
Professor Roberts is great. I took the Hybrid Anatomy course. Lab is on campus and lecture is an online textbook. She has a great personality and is a very fair grader. Is great about answering questions and she always emails back quickly. You can tell that she loves to teach. I would HIGHLY recommend taking her. Lots of memorizing to do though!
Heather is an amazing professor! I took her hybrid course & Anatomy overall is a difficult course with the constant memorization but she makes it bearable! She responds to emails quickly & is there in class to help you succeed. She has an answer to every question you ask. I highly recommend her & if I could take other courses with her I would!
Dr. Heather is awesome. Took hybrid and so glad I did as lecture is online and virtual anatomy has exact labeled pictures of models your tested on. Super nice teacher and very fair.
I have never enjoyed a class more than I have BIO 5. I am so greatful to have learned from Proffesor Roberts. I 100% reccomend her to any BIO 5 student! You will not regret it.
Professor Roberts was amazing. I have no doubt that I passed with an A because I took her hybrid class. She really cares to see everyone succeed. Of course its a tough class and requires hours of homework but she was SO ORGANIZED and helped every step of the way and broke everything down. Made many grading errors but she was honest and helpful.
Dr. Roberts is my favorite professor at Sierra! She is super knowledgeable, clear with her expectations, and cares about her students. Anatomy is a tough subject with a lot of memorization but it is possible to get an A if you put in the hard work. Take her if you can. She's the best!
I currently have Heather for anatomy. Her class is so easy to follow she is very honest and goes by her handouts. 6 exams, 12quizzes (drops your last 2) and homework which is easy if you read, and study. This class is hard but its hard because of the memorization. Put in the work and you will get a good grade.
Heather is AWESOME! She is always very easy to reach, and is clear from the get go about what you will be graded on (and how). She also sends out many prompt reminders about due dates and things coming up so you can truly be prepared. She really knows her topic, and is clearly passionate about it; wish she was teaching physiology! (online textbook)
Heather Roberts is absolutely amazing! Gives exactly what is on the quizzes and exams, so if you put in the work to memorize everything, you should pass with an A. She is very accommodating and wants everyone to understand the material. I wish she was teaching Physio :( I recommend her to everyone taking this class!
Heather is SO SO AWESOME! There are not enough words to describe how legit she is. She genuinely cares for her students and helps you get an A. She does not try to use trick questions. She is clear on what will be on exams and quizzes. The class itself is tough, but she makes it easy. Honestly the best professor I have ever had, HIGHLY reccomend!
Heather is an amazing professor! She is always willing to go over things with you if you need clarification. She wasnt a stickler with attendance but you should show up because the lectures have a lot of important info. Anatomy is a hard class so dont expect an easy A. She did offer a small amount of extra credit.
For anyone who is not good at science, DO NOT take this class online or during summer. The professor herself was pretty good, and tried to make the content relatable, but lectures had little to do w/exams. Prof drops your lowest exam (including final). Had 2 enviro. majors and 2 bio majors help me and said this was the most difficult bio class.
Biology 10 online class was a great way to go with DrRoberts
If your going to take Human Anatomy then TAKE HER! She is the best teacher ever! She wants you to pass the class with a good grade.. She tells you exactly whats going to be on the tests and quizzes so you knew what to study for. The online virtual anatomy that had all pictures of lab models was helpful. Lots of studying if you want a A. TAKE HER!
I took hybrid and I really liked it. The lecture tests were online and a lot of the questions came from the embedded questions of the online textbook and the diagrams of the textbook. In lab, she would give a mini lecture and explain everything like crystal clear. Class is hard over 300 terms to memorize each lab test but she made it manageable.
If you want to be a nurse this class is required. Heather made it so you understood the material and helped bold the important stuff so you knew what to study for test! I took the hybrid class noisy if the online test for lecture came straight from the reading. Loved her. Wish she taught physiology! You won't regret taking her class. The best!
Very helpful and accessible outside of class. Use the bone room for this class, you are tested on actual models that sometimes dont look like the slides provided. Heather is able to break down concepts, makin them easier to understand .Class is short leaving plenty of time to study models in the lab. I would def take her again.
Professor Roberts is absolutely awesome. She is by far the best science teacher I have had to date. She is compassionate and genuinely cares about her students. This class is super hard due to all the memorization but she is able to make it attainable and enjoyable too. Wish she taught Physio! Take her you won't regret it!
Heather is absolutely amazing. She made the online transition as easy as possible for us. It's a very difficult class, but she does a great job teaching. I had mental health problems throughout the semester and she was very understanding. She is very knowledgable and is quick to answer any emails. Easily one of the best profs I've had.
I took her Anatomy class and she was a fun teacher. She made the material interesting in her lectures, listens well, explains material well, and is funny. Take her class if you can, its a hard subject, but she makes it a fun class.
I really enjoyed taking this class. A typical week of work with her is reading 2 chapters, doing 25 questions per chapter, and 2 labs. Every other week are group discussions that relates to one of the chapters that week. Her exams aren't difficult, but they have an hour limit, so study those labs!
Professor Roberts proved to be a great professor when it came down to all classes being online. She makes sure her students are set up for her lecture exams and assigns clear grading criteria for her clinical consults. She is the most positive professor I have met and really wants her students to succeed! She gives great study guides as well!
You'd get an easy A with the quality of her teaching, as long as you schedule your days and really pay attention to the basics. She doesn't make anatomy any harder than it has to be. The only problem is there is only one of her.
The most lazy Professor Ive ever had. Assigned the book and gave some YouTube videos, but never attempted to explain anything in depth. There was no online lecture videos or slides. The homework she gave was easy, but she didnt teach ANYTHING.
One of the worst teachers I have experienced. She does not teach anything. You must learn everything by reading the textbook. She has no lecture videos other than some YouTube videos made by other people. Despite this, I felt like I had a good grasp going into the first exams, but I failed them hard. I emailed her and she told me, "hang in there."
Prof Roberts has video lectures that she made herself for every week of new content, except for week 5. Although the video thumbnails make you think it's a YT vid. Videos were easy to find and were extremely helpful. She has a great ability to simplify difficult topics. Make sure to use the study guide and attend her office hours before each test.
she is good, but she uses Proctor, I'm fine with the screen record but she has us do video and microphone one, I feel like its a bit much and spasificly asks to show our room and face(I feel an invitation of my privacy considering I don't like showing my space or face) and she does a lab and lecture test separate so its 2 testes very few weeks
No lecture video provided; you read the chapter and do homework but do not do a review of concepts in each chapter. The big issue is that you take a lecture exam worth 100 points. Students who need a course's lecture component will want to find a different instructor for this class—also, the Lec/lab test every two weeks is worth 100 points each.
Prof Roberts does not provide any recorded or zoom lecture for the online class. You read the chapters in the textbook and do the assigned homework. Lec exams are worth 100pts, and she does not provide the instruction required for this type of class. Her tests don't line up with the text at all. If you need a lecture-type class, take another prof.
I am taking Dr. Roberts class right now and I love it! I'm not sure why others have said she doesn't provide videos. My class has several videos each week that she makes herself. Did y'all not even look in Canvas for your videos??? She also includes other videos from YouTube. No text to buy. Super friendly.
good professor
I just finished her class and loved every minute of it. Dr. Roberts is so knowledgable - I feel like I got a ton of real-life information....not just textbook junk. You have to memorize a lot, but watch her videos and you will get all of her tips. Those helped me a ton when it came to test time.
Just like all the reviews test and the videotaping in test but she is heartless had a grade of a C just a couple points .04 tobeing a B I asked any possible way to raise it but she said no redid an assignment to boost it up but she changed it back and said "sorry I don't accept late assignments"-there was nothing on syllabus about late assignments
Dr. Roberts was awesome! I had her for Human Anatomy and she literally provides everything for you to succeed. She has homework every week, sends out announcements, has video lecture and labs, and doesn't make you buy a textbook at all. I wish she taught Physiology too!
I was afraid to take Prof Roberts at first, given a few of the reviews here. But others told me she is awesome. So I took her this past semester and I am SO happy I did. I think the bad reviews did not even look in the class. She has tons of videos and you don't have to buy a text (she provides all info in Canvas). Lab material is detailed.
I got a C in her anatomy class, but that was my fault. I jst didnt put aside the time to study. She provides her own videos for lecture and lab, plus some that other teachers made. They are very helpful, so make sure you watch them. No textbook to buy ,so that saved me money.
I took her online class in 2021. I agree with other reviews that claimed she is lazy. There wasn't much to go off on. I basically taught myself everything through the free online textbook and videos she provided. What helped the most was creating a class group chat so we could help support one another. That and completing the study guides together.
I just fnished taking anatomy this spring. Professor Roberts (Heather) was a great instructor who cares and wants you to get a good grade. It is a very intense class, but you don't have to buy a book. I give her an A+!
She's an amazing woman who's clearly used to teaching in person but neglected adapting to that online. All of her lecture is typed, there is zero textbook cost but her typing is like reading one of the most difficult to understand textbooks, and you're expected to know every last ounce of it. Amazing professor, feels like a friend, but it was HARD.
Although this was a challenging class (lots of memorization) with tons of material to master; I loved that everything was on canvas. Weekly lecture/lab quizzes. Exams every couple of weeks. Study your labs! She gives you everything you need to be successful, you just have to put in the work. I would 100% take one of her classes again. She is great!
She was great all semester! She's easy to talk to and always provides feedback on your lab exams. Her lectures are majority written and take a long time to get through. You can tell she really cares about her students and that they do well. If you take memorization seriously and put effort in, you will get the grade you want.
Awesome anatomy professor! Her lectures are entertaining, she makes the class fun. She is very caring and easy to get a hold of. I recommend taking Heather Roberts she's great!
The best teacher that I ever had! She is so reliable, flexible, and takes a genuine interest I our school work! The assignments are fun and enjoyable and the quizzes and exams are straight forward, easy, and we get study guides!
Take her! Anatomy is hard but she is very down to earth, I took the 8 week online course and although there was a lot of memoralization, the work load, was not bad! She is quick to respond to emails if you have any questions.Overall a great professor who wants her students to learn and be successful.
Heather was terrific-- very kind and understanding. She very clearly wants her students to succeed while enjoying their learning experience. The class was very self-led, which I personally found helpful; tests can be taken either on ground or online. Recommended!!
Took this as an 8-week class and professor was amazing. Class is definitely difficult & so much reading/studying (textbook provided free). She has a great sense of humor and wants to see students succeed. She's always willing to connect with students. Provides so many resources for students and great supplemental materials to the chapter reading.
