She is the best teacher you will ever have and she will lighten your day every time your in class with her. As for the work all you have to do is do what she says and youll be fine. She is one of the best people I have ever met.

I was in her Comm b5 class this spring and for the first 4 weeks it was nothing but homework every class, but after those 4 weeks were over the semester was fun with doing all the debates. The first part of the semester was very stressful, but she kept telling us to just stay and work through it and it will get easier. It definitely did get easier and less stressful towards the end of the semester. She tells a lot of funny stories that relate to the topic. Shee keeps it real and gives us all the chance to get a good grade.

Definitely a good class to take. She is incredibly good at making the class and lessons look incredibly easy. How easy? I really recommend Mrs. Silvis for Comm B1, she made the class fun and entertaining. There is some bookwork, a couple of tests, and a few speeches but it's not overwhelming.

I took this course during summer, so it was an accelerated course just 4 weeks. However, she gives tons of extra credit to help you pass. Extremely funny, laid back, but does require you to earn your grade. Very caring, generous, and genuine. I had a great time in this course in spite of all the book work.

She is an amazing professor. Tells funny stories about her family which helps you get to know her more and makes you feel more comfortable. Attendance is everything. Extra credit is always available. Work assigned is not difficult at all. I would take her again no questions asked.

I've never seen a class become so personal. We all had shared our life stories by the end and felt like a family. I learned many valuable lessons, some about myself some from others but they all were awesome.

it was a good class. i'm not one for speeches because i'm shy talking in front of class, but it did help me get over it, somewhat. not much info for speeches, but she said she will improve on it next time, so no worries. i would recommend this teacher for comm classes, certificate classes, and it is a fun class, and one to improve yourself.

She is an absolute hoot. She has an ability to bring the classroom to gather. Her syllabus is straight forward and she give out so many extra credit assignments. If you dont pass her class you shouldnt be in college.

Overall professor Silvis is a great instructor. she is very kind and she cares for her students. she offers a lot of extra credit opportunities to help bump up your grade. make sure to be in class, its very important!!

She's a great professor! Her class is hard but if you practice and prepare you'll do fine. Her grading system is different, so do your quizzes, speeches, and reflections so you pass her class.

I took COMMB1 in a 4 week summer class. Professor Silvis makes the class supper fun and engaging, but she will make you work for your grade. Do your workbook assignments and don't lie about doing so. For your sake do not procrastinate.

The work includes speeches, text book reading, workbook homework, and preparing for speeches. She gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. I took the class while working full-time.

She's a great teacher, if you ask questions, she'll answer them in complete detail. She takes time to explain assignments to you in class. Plus she's really inspirational and makes class pretty fun with her stories. I would definitely take one of her classes again.

This class is very simple and straight to the point. She grades by rubric so if you follow the rubric youll get an A. Missing a day or two wouldnt be bad but its best to just show up so you dont fall behind. Shes very inspirational. She was my first college professor and I know I wont have any others like her.

This professor has been my absolute favorite for the semester. Her work load is not so bad, dont procrastinate. Her persona is straight and forward, but shes a sweet individual under that. Overall, shes made me a more confident person and will look forward to taking her classes in the future.

Professor Silvis class requires a textbook along with getting all 7-8 speeches done. If you dont get the speeches done you wont pass. If you miss 5 days of class youre dropped. If you get all the assignments done youll pass. Shes very stern but funny and sweet if you dont piss her off. Being there on time matters as well.

I took her B1 class in the fall and it was an experience. She's very clear on what she expects, you are given the rubric ahead of time to make sure your speech will meet the criteria. She keeps its pretty real in her class, I recommend professor Silvis. She will give you a different perspective by the end of the class.

I Definitely recommend This professor her class is challenging but fun and if you attend every day and do the work you will get a good grade. I was really close to getting a B but after switching to online classes I lost track because of internet issues. Keep Up with the home work and don't wait to work on the debates and you will do great.

Cool teacher, but she is a tough grader for the speeches. I am an A student but barely got by with a C. We did have to transition to online, but this was definitely the hardest class I have taken at BC and I have taken about 10 classes.

Professor Silvis is a real world human. She is fair and grades strictly. But your expectations are clearly outlined on day 1 of class. We organized and she generally responds within a couple of hours if contacted. I will defiantly look for her when taking communication classes in the future.

Totally recommend her, she is super fun, amazing and an essay class. All the comments that say she is a tough grader is TOTALLY FALSE. What we did in class is, kahoot, chapter assignment (answers are in the book, chapter quizzes (answers in the book) and 4 presentations. Every bad feedback about her is because that person never did the work period.

Professor Silvis is amazing! She laid out the criteria for this course on the first day of class. The syllabus had every single assignment and date listed on it. Those who weren't able to pass the class simply didn't follow directions or even bother to show up. Highly recommend! Just do the work and you'll most likely pass.

This was the hardest class I had to take for my second fall semester, I had a hard time understanding everything but she's actually pretty nice and caring, she helped me sign up to DSPS. I was really close to failing but she let me pass, it didn't helped that her class was 8 weeks but she's a true human being and I want to thanked her.

She sometimes gets distracted with stories but they are amusing and keep you engaged. She also likes when students are responsive so give her a smile.

Great professor, she was a very fun person during her zoom sessions for her hybrid class. I think all professors should be like her, yes she talks a lot about herself in class but it is a good stress reliever because we don't have to focus as much on this gen ed class. Possibly the best professor at BC. Somehow, she made a class that most people only take because they have to extremely fun and enjoyable, while also allowing us all to become more confident public speakers. If you're taking COMM B1, Silvis should be the only option you should even be considering.

Professor Silvis was the best teacher I could have started with. She is extremely funny and kind. The class goes by quickly because she tells so many entertaining stories. Speeches take maximum 2 or 3 days to write and prepare and that is the biggest chunk of work! Other than that, every assignment is a breeze. You won't regret taking her class.

It is such a good class especially the lecture since they can get personal and even relatable. The structure of homework is very predictable and easy to get the hang of. Teacher is very open minded and transparent of what is happening with her and in lectures which make it even more fun to listen.

Took this Professor in the Spring of 24'. Absolutely loved her class, incredible funny and caring about her students. There are a few speech's and you have to be prepared but she is very lenient and understanding. I'd strongly recommend you take this class for all communication classes.

Professor Silvis very clearly cares about student success. She makes everything you need easily accessible through canvas online including all the necessary reading. It's a good amount of work that you'll need to do, but she makes it very clear what she expects from you for each assignment. There are also plenty of opportunities for extra credit.

IDK How ppl dnt get an A in the class. Super easy staright fwd. Lots of xtra credit. I love that she was super confident and was a great example on how to speak in public. Everytime she shared a story it was litteraly an example on how to give a speech. If you get triggered fast dont take her class if you fall in the right wing of politics.

I really enjoyed my time with this professor. She started off so welcoming, & from the very beginning gave us an outline of what to be prepared for for the semester. She gave me a sense of comfortability to get up & do my speeches, while making sure students had the freedom to speak on what they wanted & get all assignments turned in.

I would say this was the most enjoyable class I've had. She is a great professor and person overall. She makes it very easy to open up and makes it known it's always okay for different opinions. Even though the work could be tough and it was different, she made it easy to publicly communicate and open up as well as made the assignments feel easier.
