Be prepared to get a bad grade if you don't agree with her. Worst teacher ever!
Not clear on directions, always says students are misinterpreting her, mean, spitful, and get upset easily.
Punishes students when things don't go her way. Please no more with the dentist's drill!!I will be good. Her way is THE only way or it's the highway. Never take Honors Program sections with her!!
What a miserable experience to have this dreadful instructor for a so-called honors class! Will do anything to fillher classes. It is an embarrassment for the Humanities division to have such an instructor!
An exceptional professor, especially for the serious student, who cares about his or her future.
Teacher is difficult and very hard to please. Do not take any of her classes. She will nit pick you to death. She makes you write about what she believes is correct and will down grade you for what your opinion is!
Sisto is the hardest teacher at MOTT. She is very unfair telling students that they are to present at her given point not when they signed up to present a group project. GRADES HARD !!! Has no pity on students. Cares more about what she wants, not us !

So not good! When she doesn't agree with what you say she'll ensure that you will struggle in the class. WARNING! DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASSES! You'll regret it just like I am!!!
Most narrow-minded teacher! Teaches "diversity and open-mindedness" but can't stand those who disagree with her opinions and will go out of her way to blast you in class about them.
Very nice, when i needed help was always willing to be there. The work isn't that hard if you don't wait until the last minute

She changes her mind a lot, and can be confusing. but she is soo sweet, and really wants to help you. I loved having her as my eng 101 teacher, so i purposly took her for eng 102.
Blames students because she can't handle being wrong.Will go out of her way to make you feel stupid,turns your paper into something of hers.Unclear directions,spiteful,vindictive,does not believe in the U.S. armed forces that pro-tects her rights daily.
Although seiously biased politicaly, Heather is a fundamentally good person and will help you pass her course, or excel in it, if you are willing to put forth effort.
When she wrote see me on a paper she meant it. She took time with to help me with my short comings. Heather helped me a great deal and always told me she was proud of me. I never saw her refuse when a student asked for help.
Heather is a great teacher. All of you who disagree just didn't try in the class. She's very clear on what she wants out of her students and is always willing to help you if needed. In high school, I always had trouble with certain grammer issues and Heather helped me solve them! Thanks!
Not a bad teacher. Was always willing to give me extra help and without that there's no way I would have pulled off the grade I did.
I enjoyed this class and liked the teacher. I had to work extremely hard, but learned a lot. She is meticulous for detail, so if you do things how she has explained it will go okay.
Couldn't stand this woman. Her grading was ridiculous and unfair. Before someone else says I didn't try and that's why I didn't like her.I am an A+ student who had a 1.5 at mid-term. Avoid her....

Heather is very good at communicating her directions, but tends not to give you room for writing your own opinion.She decides how she wants your papers,and tries to convince you her opinion is right.She will help you anytime you ask,but expect to do an excessive amount of writing!Very time Consuming
I REALLY LIKED HEATHER, SHE HELPED ME SO MUCH!! SHE LET ME MAKE UP THINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN, SHE REALLY WALKS YOU THROUGH THINGS, ALSO A GREAT COMMUNICATOR, ASK HER FOR HELP AND SHE WILL GIVE YOU HELP, TRY IN HER CLASS AND YOU WILL PASS!!! KRISTAL
I took her Pilates class and I thought she was great. I was a little suprised that we had to write papers (about our overall fitness/health) unitl I found out that she is the Honors Coord. and Honors ENG teacher. She is also a great self esteem booster!! I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to take a quick and easy 2 credit class.
The lady is crazy. Worst college professor I've ever had. She's probably still trying to get votes for Kerry! I was told to avoid her, I didn't listen, I still regret it to this day.

HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! Unclear on what she wants on the papers IF YOU DO take her start out with a horrible paper cause shes grades on improvments i got a 3.5 in my last english class and now i am getting a 1.5 so if oyu don't want to screw your GPA up then i wouldn't recommend taking her class
She really needs to clarify what it is she expects from her students in terms of her assignments and how she wants things done. Sisto doesn't really explain things, in my opinion. She is a fair grader most of the time if you put effort into what you turn in. She is nice, but she is also stuck in her own ways.
Overall, Sisto is a good professor. She is a little strict and could further explain directions, but she grades fair and there's not alot of homework. If you take this teacher, I definately have to erge you to be on time! She does not handle tardiness very well.
I enjoyed this instructor, but I was under the impression that she was very full of herself. She is in wonderful shape for her age. Attend EVERY class! Your grade will be lowered if not. I was humiliated to walk out with a B (shy a couple points for A)even though I had to travel to another state with my child for med. reasons. Nice and polite:)
If you need help ASK! If you don't understand an assignment ASK her to explain. She is a great professor, and very helpful if you let her know you need help. Mrs. Sisto should have all positive feedback, she is a great teacher. All the negative feedback posted is a reflection of the student who posted it NOT the professor.

She is a very demanding teacher, lots of homework. Class topics are important and interesting to most. Be prepared to give lost of speeches in front of you fellow class mates.
This was the best honors class! We had real camaraderie, due to Heather's leadership. Lots of reading, lots of writing, but it's an ENGLISH class! Some confusion on directions occasionally, but good feedback on SRJ. Willing to work with anyone needing help, just be willing to do the work!
UUGH!! Taking her class was a mistake. Very unclear in directions and expectations. Don't forget attendence. I was forced to drop this class even though I was carring a 4.0 because she was going to fail me due to attendence issues related to my family.
I love Ms. Sisto as a person and shes a great counselor but DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Her directions are unclear and if you ask for clarification she says you are asking to be spoonfed. She seems to live in a bubble where she forgets students have other classes and responsibilities. Upside: The readings we did were interesting and she does try hard.
Sisto knows what she wants, and if you want an A, you'll give it to her. Expect to speak in front of the class and share your work with others. We did have one timed essay exam on our required reading, the rest of the grading was on papers and projects. Would recommend to serious English majors w/ light courseloads.
Heather is hard but she is a good teacher. I approached her anytime I had a problem and she was always very helpful. Now sometimes she was a bit rushed for time yet she always answered my questions. I think she is a good teacher.
Ms. Sisto is an amazing teacher. She really helped me with writing papers. Actually, I graduated with honors and I owe it to her teaching. She is not for lazy students. She actually expects you to learn and holds you accountable. She cares about student learning and is accessible during office hours for extra help.
You definitely have to pander to her tastes, but let's face it - you have to do the same with most English prof. Luckily reading and writing come easily to me, and I was able to find out what she wanted early and get an A. Others weren't so lucky. If you aren't a dedicated (& slightly moral-less) English student, I'd look for another professor.
She can be strict, especially if she senses you are unprepared or are a slacker, her pet peeve I'd say. If you read the texts in advance and answer study guide questions it is a very interesting class. There are two papers, but she will work very hard to help you. She was very tough on me but I asked for it, since I wanted to improve my literary analysis and writing skill. We did a fun but stressful skit instead of a final exam where we put story characters on trial.
Prof. Sisto is a very boring teacher. To get a good grade on a paper you have to write exactly how she wants you to or else. Read the chapter before taking the quizzes and you'll be fine. Might want to bring a pillow to class though because she will put you to sleep with her lectures.
A truly fantastic and passionate lecturer. I had a great time in her class. Topics were always interesting and relevant. Assignments were challenging but she was always extremely helpful and encouraging. I consistently find that those who don't appreciate her style are lazy ones, and they were very few. Helped me to improve in every way. Awesome
Relies far too much on group work and projects. Seems like the type to think her class is the most important one you'll take. Also sometimes accidentally offensive.
All you have to do is pay attention, And you should be able to pass all of the quizzes. Go into the class knowing that the projects can be quite the challenge if you have no experience with art, and you are broke. She mos def knows the material and has shared a variety of books from her own collection. Shes an excellent story teller. Take her! :)
I had her many years ago for several classes including an honors class. Becauseof her, I went on to teach college myself. Most dedicated instructorI know.
Literature isn't easy,don't expect this class to be. Sisto wants you to succeed though & gives all the info needed to pass her quizzes/tests/papers in lectures. Read the texts ahead, show up and participate,the 4.0 is yours. Sisto is passionate about what she teaches and I learned analytic writing skills that will aid me in all future assignments!
Worst professor I've ever had. She doesn't take note that you have other classes and a job. She leaves you no time to do homework for other classes. Also, she relies heavily on group work. Professor Sisto is not a good professor at all!
You may take her class if you are a fast leaner and fast worker; otherwise, you'll have no time for other class homework. Her organization is a c-. Her teaching style is confusing. I wouldn't have her if you have a learning disability.
She is so wonderful! Her teaching skills kind of suck, but if you show her you are serious & determined to pass the class she will help you out as much as possible.
At first i was little overwhelmed by how much work she gave. But she gave you time to do it. She is an awesome teacher and is very nice. All she wants you to do is try your best and become active in the class
I do NOT recommend anyone to take her class. She is not clear with her assignments and gives you very little time to get it done. She assigns multiple assignments at a time which makes it almost impossible to get everything done on time.
Of all the Professors I have had in the past Heather Sisto was one of the best . She is very understanding with her students and loves to teach as well you don't find that much any more . At first I thought it was going to be a hard class but with in two weeks of class she turned that around .
Don't take this class if you're not prepared to do a lot of work. We did journals and assignments for each chapter of each reading. Papers and projects are expected to be near perfect, or else she will have you re-do them. Sometimes unclear about assignments. She's knowledgable and will work with you as long as you ask for help. I did learn a lot.
Heather is a very nice lady BUT she is never clear on what she expects out of you. She will hand out a very detailed paper rubric but the topic you are suppose to be writing about is very unclear and confusing. LOTS OF ASSIGNMENTS in this class. Its not a hard grade but ever class something lengthy is due.

The world load for this class is seriously way to much, i am pretty sure she is unaware we have other classes, there is like a million points possible in this class. & honestly you have NO CLUE what the assignment is about or any details. She is very UNCLEAR about everything, nice lady but WAY to much work

She doesn't explain anything or try to help. she doesn't make anything clear. every class there is something do. she always has a new calender. if you have a life, other classes, or a job DO NOT take this class. there is absolutely not enough time to get anything done.
She's an alright lady, but awkward and confusing more than anything. She doesn't explain well at all. She's obsessed with Flint and makes you do community service for a grade. She obviously thinks that her class is the center of the universe because she gives a lot of assignments and papers, not like i have other classes or a job or anything.
This teacher is not clear on any of her work especially the papers. She is a horrible teacher and I wouldn't recommend anyone to take her class. Good thing for everyone else is she isnt going to be teaching this class anymore. But dont take her storytelling class either!
If you have a life outside of school do not attempt to take this Professor. The coursework is beyond the norm and she is not organized. She is very unclear on assignments which makes it difficult to turn it in perfect as she expects every time. The only decent thing about this professor is that she does work with students on extended the due date.
This is the worst teacher I ever had, and I am just graduating from highschool. She talks about Flint alot and makes you do a community service project for ENGL101. Only take this class if you just want to work in a group when you and your partners have no idea what is going on. The only thing you may get from this class is getting organized. Sisto is not very good at answering questions or giving clear instructions.
Never gave clear information on due dates. would give out multiple projectspapers at a time without clear instruction. Class started with 32 students by midterms there were 6 students regularly showing up. She talks just to take up class time, never lets out early even if work is completed.
Prof Sisto is a good teacher, she gives you plenty of opportunity to get a 4.0! If you fail her class is simply because you didn't try! Your attendance matters with her but she's very understanding with circumstances! Will look into taking another one of her classes if I can in the future!
Very unclear with directions and expectations
i regret ever taking a class with her as my professor. This is the worst prof i've had in my time at Mott. She is very unclear on directions,a ridiculously hard grader, and just plain out rude. Try your hardest NOT to get into her class, KEEP LOOKING.
I loved having Professor Sisto! If she see's that you're trying to work hard she'll help you out and work w/ you . If you're blowing off the class she's going to fail you. Her papers were moderately tough. Expect quite a lot of reading-reflection papers for 101 then again it IS an English class. I only wish she taught 102! Highly recommend her!
Prof. Sisto is very difficult to get along with. Just stay on her good side!! Do your work and you should be okay. Lots of papers and a community service project (not of your choice) is required.
I would advise all future students to reconsider having professor Sisto as soon as possible. I thought there was hope at first, but the class was highly unorganized and very unclear. The student count dropped tremendously by the end of the semester. It felt as though we were treated like high schoolers and expected to be adults.
This class is actually the worst class that I've ever taken in my life (not exaggerating). This class is all about Flint and not an English class. She's not even from flint and says offensive things about the people. Not organized, and a lot of assignments are due around the same time that aren't related. Lots of papers! And a very hard grader.

Be prepared for a lot of homework. She is very passionate about Flint and community service. Honestly, if you just show up, participate, and do the work you will be fine. Sometimes her expectations and due dates for assignments can be unclear.
Honestly, there is a lot of work but if you put in the effort, you will pass. Even though I hated the work, I loved professor sisto as an instructor. I also received many compliments and she even offered to write me a letter of recommendation in the future if needed!
Professor Sisto treats the class as if it was high school. Not very understanding if you are late or absent. Lots of writing assignments. If you like talking about the water crisis and are wanting the teacher to pick research topics for you that you write then she's the teacher for you
Horrible professor she didn't teach anyone how to write. Impossible to get a perfect grade. She never was clear about directions so I never had time to write my papers because I ended up starting a few days before it was due.
I absolutely loved her. She is nice, gets involved and cares for her students and their well being. I also hear she teaches english so when handing in papers make no grammatical errors! She is a source of great energy and gives awesome feedback. We all respect her... Its not alot of work that she asks for so please do it. Show up and you will pass.
I received a 4.0 in the class. She has a clear syllabus which she follows accordingly, gives great feedback, and is willing to help students outside of class. Very kind, and caring teacher!
Professor Sisto is a very nice lady, and I enjoy her as a person. HOWEVER, I learned absolutely nothing from this class. This really isn't an English class. It's more of a class about Flint. You'll write 2 papers on Flint, go on a field trip (to write a paper about), and read a 34 dollar book on Flint that sucks. An unnecessary amount of homework.
