Difficult class. A lot of reading material that goes unexplained.
Her class is really boring and really hard
too much material in too short of time with absolutely no explanation
I was lost from the first day. WAY too much reading, beware!!!
Boring and difficult, I don't think she cares enough about the class
Oh my! The worst class I've EVER had...no clue what's going on, boring! HATED IT
She was nice but, her exams tend to be opinionated... Maybe she should teach to the deaf instead....
I had her for General Psychology and she made it seem like a 400 level class. If you are a genius, take the class...if you are just really intelligent, don't even think about it.
She is very hard. I like her as a person, but her class is a bit confusing. Very fast pace lectures
The worst professor I have ever had. You are on your own. Memorize and understand the book. Makes a 100 level class like a grad class for psych majors.
i love her as a person, but her class is to hard, papers unreasonable, but shes a great person, doesnt explain test material with book though
This class was very hard specialty when she teach a Gen Psychology 100 level as if it was at 700 graduate class. what was she thinking?
I hate her she is very hard to fallow, change the way of teaching@#$%%^^&*((
Unclear, unmotivated, unable to teach. She's a smart lady, but a horrible teacher. She can't relate to her students and doesn't make an effort to. If you want to enjoy the class and learn, avoid her if possible. She not be allowed to teach!!!!!
guys, easy. it takes a person like heather to do what sge is doing right now
dont do it
save yourself!! i do more work for this 1 class than the other 4 put together...cant understand her and she doesnt seem to care. Good Luck!
Don't listen to the rest. She was very clear on what was expected. Exams are multiple choice and as long as you pay attention in class, it is easy. She is also fair, giving points on exams for areas that she did not explain enough.
She knows what she's talking about, just do your work, read, and study and you'll be fine. She does relate topics to the class, you just have to listen.
Heather is a great professor. She is clear on what she expects, relates lectures and text material to real life, and explains exactly what we will be tested on. Who could ask for more?
when i have asked any teacher for help i was never refused until i asked this lady.
If you are a serious psychology student you will love Dr. Snyder. She is passionate about the SCIENCE of psychology. If you are looking for a "Dr. Phil" psychology course, you may be better off somewhere else as Dr. Snyder is a serious educato
She liked to test what was not covered that much in the book or in class. She was nice and would help you if you wanted it.
I couldn't stand her or her class. She is very hard to understand. Never take her for a class!
She is a near impossible professor to deal with. I took this class last year and we started the class with around 50, and by the middle of the semester half the class withdrew. She is very difficult to communicate with and dosn't seem to care!
she's improved from the past. she actually knows a great deal about children. she also starting giving a better study guide and testing on her lectures.
She is not that bad of a teacher. She is very into her teaching, and knows a great deal about the subject. Sometimes she goes a little fast, but its not too bad. She gives a good outline to help with note taking, and a good test reveiw. if you study f
not clear on assignments
I don't care what any1 else thinks, she is a great instructor, hard to understand at first because of how she talks, but she is REALLY excited about Psychology, great professor highly recommend her, thses others only don't like her because of her being sl
Dr. Snyder was great. I've had here for three classes and would take another in a sec. Though hard to understand at first she is enthusiatsic. She is the only prof in 3 years here to ask for the students imput on her class and teaching styles. A++ prof.
I had her for both dev. psych and dev. psychopathology and i love her she very thorough and always available for help. I wish i could have her more often. she puts notes on the board and has outlines and study guides available.
I've had her for one class and I'm taking another in the spring. Though hard to understand at first she is enthusiatsic. She is the only prof in I've known of to ask for the students imput on her class and teaching styles
Very nice and enthusiastic, very knowledgable on the subject. I would have been lost without the provided note-taking outlines she offers online, though. Lots of group work.
she knows the topic really well but the tests are hard. the class was not that interseting but she gives examples to help exlpain what she is talking about. the outlines for the chapters and the test were great to have.
Pleasant woman, hard to understand at times, messy writing, sit upfront you shouldn't have a problem. I would take her again if i had to. Goes out of her way to help you understand. Test can be difficult make sure you study well. Not a bad class.
There has never been clearer expectations in a class!! She has outlines & study guides online, gives extra credit & clear feedback, and her tests were all multiple choice. If you follow the outlines/study guides you'll have no trouble gettting an A. I learned a ton, and she keeps it interesting.
HARD class.... VERY helpful teacher
great teacher, very enthusiastic, study guides, and outlines for chapters. Hard tests
Nice prof. I did not find her hard to understand. Difficult exams. Gives lecture outlines and plenty of notes but tests from the book, that was confusing at first. i learned a lot of interesting information and Dr. Snyder was always available. Be prepared to study!
Very hard teacher. she does not curve and tests are right out of the book. make sure to read the chapters. alot of notes also.tests are horrible
She can be hard, but fair. She has a lot of great stories, and is helpful when asked. Her tests are average, and she has a paper and group work.
This teacher makes it very easy to pass with a good grade. Her expectaions are laid out and impossible to misunderstand. she provides lecture out lines and study guides for each test, without ever reading, just goin to class, and studying my study guides i easily passed with a B+
Great Lady! I had her for gen psych and hope to have her for another class. Sit up front so you can better understand her. Test are a little hard, study. She is always friendly and willing to help.
Ok...she must have had a rough start at EUP. I have had her for 3 classes and i think shes awesome! Not only as a professor, but also as a person. She expects you to learn, wants you to learn and is passionate about her work. Her tests require studying. You can learn alot from her about psych AND about life and people in general. GREAT LADY!
I have her for both Dev. Psyc. and Exp. Psyc. Overall she's a pretty good professor. She can have her moments and be a little moody at times. For the most part though she is very nice. For experimental when you write papers and she writes comments on them.... GOOD LUCK on figuring out what it says. Dev. Pysc. she goes into detail which is grea
very informative and interesting
Decent class, at times a bit boring. She gives plenty examples to explain theories or ideas. Little to no extra credit offered. Tests were standard multiple choice. She provided lecture outlines and a study guide. Reading the textbook & going over notes is the best way to pass tests.
Dr. Snyder is a good intentioned professor but I feel her passion lies outside of the classroom and more toward research. While Dr. Snyder does try very hard to communicate with her class, I feel frustrated because I have a hard time understanding her. If you suffer from ADHD or need lots of stimulus for class, consider another professor!
Dr. Snyder does a great job. She's clear about what she wants and she wants people to do well. Her class is very structured but still interesting, she follows the outline she provides. Sometimes she can be tough to understand but if you ask her she's fine with repeating herself. I would take her again in a heartbeat!
She's pretty nice and tests are pretty easy. Expects you to actually read the book...gives a lot of examples...
She is wonderful proffessor!! content in the class is very interesting ,and she gives lots of examples. Tests are fairly hard but if you do the study guides before every test you'll be fine. Overall it is a great class!!!
I loved this class. At times, Dr. Snyder was a little hard to understand, because of her hearing disability, and the tests were pretty difficult if you didn't study, but the content in the class was seriously fascinating. The stories she told were great and I would definitely take her again.
Dr. Snyder is a great prof! She really makes psychology interesting! She tells stories and gives a lot of examples to help you understand! Study for her tests and it is an easy A!
Being disabled is no excuse for how bad this is. Besides the completely arbitrary grading system, the mind-numbing lectures and notes that have nothing to do with the exams, I feel like going is a waste of my time. And I actually like art. Avoid at all costs!
Dr. Synder is very cheerful and enthusiastic. Course material consists mostly of prior research studies of the topic, which becomes monotonous and hard to remember for tests. Project and presentation as final. Overall, I like her, though I've had better profs
She amazig. Yes, the class isn't an easy ride, but she will help you every step of the way if you ask--even if you don't. I would take another class with her, for sure.
Lectures were clear and complemented the text. Dr Synder was very helpful when I needed extra help. I would take another course with her.
Her lectures were easy to follow. The class was difficult but with her real life examples it was interesting. She was very helpful when I was stuggling spent alot of time helping me understand the material.
Dr. Snyder is a good teacher, she loves sharing her knowledge and real life experiences with her class. She uses both books in class and expects you to read. If you don't she'll warn you about giving pop quizes and then if peopeld till don't read she'll give them. I took gen psych with her too and loved it! Def take a class w/ her if you can.
Dr. Snyder is a fantastic teacher. She gives great examples during lecture and makes sure everyone understands everything. She gives out study guides for the test and if you go over them thoroughly you should do well. I got an A.
her exams are kind of hard but you get used to how she asks the questions. This is a wonderful class if you are thinking about working with kids. I loved it!
Interesting class. Her stories are really interesting! Tests aren't too difficult...she asks application questions. Not a psych major and I loved this class.
very enthusiastic, very interesting. i never used the main textbook, just the "adolescent portraits" one. 4 tests, 2 little papers. loved her & her class.
Hates to write on the board. Strict cell phone policies.
I adored Dr. Snyder. She was very interesting and really knows what she's talking about. She gives really good examples to aid with comprehension. She does expect you to work.
Very good professor. She gives awesome real life examples to link to the material so you can gain a good understanding right off. As long as you study the notes and utilize her study guides you should be able to achieve a pretty good grade. She made the class very interesting and enjoyable to attend. :)
She is an EXCELLENT professor. As long as you study the notes, attend class, and use her study guides, you will do fine. The book isn't used much, but it is helpful if you have it on hand. There are 4 tests and two papers. Papers are simple. The tests are application questions. So memorizing things will not help, you need to understand the content.
One of the best profs at EUP. Sticks to the syllabus. Expectations are reasonable and fair. Truly cares about students.
Quirky lady and tries to make the class interesting. I however enjoyed this class. Although the exams were ALL application questions and up to five answers to chose from, making it tricky. Read the book and know the material. She is tough on grading papers and will deduct points for poor punctuation.
The creative lab was probably like most labs... intimidating and took a lot of time outside of class to complete. You're group decides participation of each member so make sure you pull your wait and have good communication. She uses that feedback when grading the final poster. Overall the class was really interesting and a challenge. Good luck.
She is very enthusiastic and obviously loves teaching. Creativity And The Arts was a fun class. Just try and actually put in an effort towards the projects and you should at least get a C.
Dr. Snyder has, by far, been my favorite professor at Edinboro. She is an incredibly brilliant and passionate woman who genuinely wants her students to succeed. I have taken 2 of her classes, both of which I highly recommend. She is always available, conducts regular review sessions, and is VERY knowledgeable on all subjects she teaches.
She is nice and has clear exceptions. My class was test based so if you went to class you should have gotten at least a B
If you take good notes, do the study guide and study a little bit you should pass the class. She makes the class interesting by giving real life examples.
Very organized, but very strict when it comes to late work. Class was interesting and tests pull mostly from the powerpoints. She is also willing to advise you in career options later. and for those marking her as "unclear" because of her speech, please grow up, after the first day you should know exactly what she's saying.
Such a sweet lady! Always tries to keep class nteresting by giving examples or dancing around. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you miss less than 3 classes, you receive bonus points at the end. Yes, she may be hard of hearing, but she is great at what she does and NOT difficult to understand!
I thought this class was rather hard. There are several projects to do along with studying. Lots of "theory" that was only minimally related to "life". On the strict side as a professor, good teacher but I felt she was a little beyond me an not relatable.
I'm a psych major and I can say she has definitely been one of my favorite professors. I had Dr. Snyder for a two and a half hour night class and she held my attention the entire time. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I would mot definitely recommend her developmental psych class!
She is a delightlful lady with an interminably good attitude, but doesn't goof off. She expect you to be a student. She is thorough. READ THE SYLLABUS. Do the work and don't look for excuses, they wont get you far. Asks questions on test that she doesn't go over in class to make sure you're reading. Outstanding professor.
Dr. Snyder-- a very great teacher, uses real life examples, provides lecture notes, uses D2L, follows syllabus, offers extra credit options, encourages you to visit her during office hours to get help if you're not understanding content, provides study guides, reviews for tests, and makes sure you have thorough comprehension of the material.
She was very clear in what her expectations for the class were. Textbook was required, 4 tests and she gave a very detailed study guide. Tests were half mult. choice and half short answer but don't let that intimidate you. Very excellent teaching style and she knows what she is talking about. I would definitely recommend her for any psych class!
I took Dr. Snyder by recommendation from a friend and am so glad I did. She is amazing. Her tests come straight from the lectures. If you understand the material and study, you'll get an A. If you don't understand, she gives plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions. I didn't buy the book and didn't need it.
She is extremely nice and will go above and beyond to help you as long as you show an effort. In this, and any of her other classes, she makes the content relate-able to real life, so you can really get a lot out of the class.
She's an amazing professor! She really knows what she's talking about and doesn't hesitate to answer any questions anyone might have. Tests are a little tricky, but she gives study guides. There's a lot of opportunity for extra credit too. You get to raise a virtual baby, too, which is kind of fun! I'd recommend her class!
I took Dr. Snyder for Psych of Creativity, and while the class was interesting, she was not. She made the class difficult, and she's very strict. The tests require a lot of studying, so make sure you do the lecture outlines and study guides. The final project is a lot of work and only worth 40 points.
Class is mostly boring. She has a small speech impediment but it didnt effect me or being able to understand the information. She has power points that you just copy from the board. She always had a smile on her face and was a really sweet lady.
Read the book and work through the study guides before tests and you are set with Dr. Snyder. She offers easy to obtain extra credit as well. She's pretty fantastic over all and I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Dev psych with Dr. Snyder was awesome. Buy the access code to virtual child online NOT through the bookstore. Also I never bought a book and did just fine. There is only one question that comes from the book and it truly is common sense. Snyder uses a harder grading scale so beware: 93-100 A 85-92 B and etc. The class was incredibly easy.
Would definitely take her again. She is very funny. She tells you stories to help you understand what she is teaching. I never used the book but you can. make sure to complete the virtual child EARLY! You have to right a paper on it. She gives good extra credit as well. We only had 5 grades. Her exams are easy if you take good notes and STUDY!
Amazing and brilliant professor, gives real life examples examples of what she is talking about, great lectures, awesome study guides. To fail this class you would have to fail on purpose.
FAVORITE TEACHER! Dr. S is awesome! I am really sad I'm done with her class! She's ALWAYS smiling, always happy and excited, but not sappy, lol. She's just SO excited to teach, it makes you excited to be in her class, excited to learn! Her tests are application based, so they can be kind of tough, but if I could have her for EVERY class, I would
She is one of the sweetest teachers I've ever had! She is always smiling. I have extra bad hearing so her small speech impediment made the class hard to follow. It is also pretty boring and you definitely have to take good notes and study to pass the tests. The tests are rather difficult. Also DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!!!
Dr. Snyder is the sweetest! I had her online, and she was one of my favorite professors! Not only did I learn a lot, but she was also kind and understanding. I definitely recommend taking her!
Dr. Snyder is one of the most kind professors I have ever met in college. There are a lot of comments that are legitimately ablest in here, as Dr. Snyder has hearing and speech issues. She repeats herself and will clarify if you ask, does everything she possibly can to help students. She does everything she can to help you understand and do well.
Dr. Snyder is incredibly sweet and kind. Grading is somewhat lenient, extra credit is there. Only quizzes or tests cannot be changed but in some courses she offers a makeup to replace a score.I saw a post about ablest comments on here and it makes me very sad, because thats the truth, but she does everything in her power to not let it impact class.
not very helpful with quizzes and going over them, so you do not learn what you missed. there is extra credit which is helpful for the overall grade.
Dr. Snyder is very nice and I have taken multiple classes with her and done well. Unfortunately, it is difficult to learn what you missed on test/quizzes. She does not let you know the correct answer to missed questions. She will post a brief description of what the most missed questions were, but is not very helpful in my opinion. Do recommend!
She is a tough grader and it often does not make sense on why she takes points away. I had to write a paper about my personal experiences and she said my examples were wrong and incorrect. Other than that the classes are normally easy if you do the work.
If you take this class and are an auditory learner, prepare your whole week. There are times the readings alone take me 8 hours, then I have to go back and take note throughout. The quizzes all seem to be trick questions. I spent so much time reading, making notes, and studying just to get some funky grade on exams.
Dr. Snyder excels in her Clinical Skills course. She is encouraging, and VERY open to feedback/implements it! LOTS of reading, but allows notecard during exams. Drops lowest score and offers hefty extra credit. Huge help with internships. Very clear/on top of things. She is great at what she does!!
