Amazing professor. No hand holding in this class. Be prepared to think. If you stick out her class, which many do not, due to its intense and projected autonomous nature you will walk away with phenomenal confidence in writing and yourself!
Heather is very hot and good as teacher
Class is confusing and unorganized. She doesn't keep her office hours and doesn't explain things clearly.
SHE IS SO OUTGOING AND PERSONABLE SHE MAKES ENGLISH FUN
wonderful, highly organized, really makes you think. Actually learned in her classes, very enthusiatic, and shes a dave matthews fan
She is an amazing teacher! I went in loving mythology, I left loving it even more (now that I understand how to understand it better:). She made the experience fun-filled with her quirky behavior and enthusiastic presentation of her subject.

I loved her eng 200 class. I really learned a lot about writing persuasive papers and it prepared me for taking rhetoric at a 4-yr college.
Heather is a wonderful teacher. She is very committed to her students and their understanding of the course. She seems as if she's always happy and eager to teach. Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!
Heather is a nice person but she comes across as arrogant to her students. She doesn't keep her office hours and doesn't show her students the respect they deserve. The class has good content but I'd take it with another prof.
she is very clear on what she expects, but if you don't keep up with your reading you will fail. she grades on a very high level, she expects a lot for a beginning english class.
I found her insistence in working in groups to be very irritating. Other than that, she knows her stuff but demands quite a lot of work.
A very hard teacher...but the fact that you could get along with her and she was easy to talk to and ask questions is worth it!!
She is really unclear with her directions. Cannot even answer students simple questions. Doesn't respond until almost a week later. Can't even get a hold of her. I recommend to not have her. Students that had her told me to drop her course ASAP the first week. But I didn't listen.
We are supposed to have six weeks of summer classes, not 4.5. She messed up the schedule and instead of actually teaching the extra week, we are "workshopping" which means she sits in her office and doesn't teach. I'm certainly not paying for that. And what's up with signing up for office hours? That's silly and unprofessional. Never Again!
What a witch! She completely doesn't care whether we succeed or not, doesn't hold office hours, cancels class because she has crutches--who cares? She doesn't accept those excuses from us but gives them to us? SHe doesn't explain her grading or seem to give a care what we think or what we learn. She's inflexible and arrogant.

it was a great class :-)

Heather was very unprofessional. Only seemed concerned with herself. Cancelled a few classes with no warning. NEVER kept office hours. She made students sign up for hours, but even then she sometimes did not show up. Doesnt clearly answer questions, even questions on her own directives. She was a nightmare, and impossible to get ahold of.
I think she is a really great teacher! If you have/want to take Advanced Comp totally take it with her!
Heather is the most arrogant person I've ever met. It's only week five and she hasn't kept office hours yet. She flirts with the men in class and wears flip flops to class--how professional is that? She says she stressed critical thinking but doesn't demonstrate anything but plot summary.
She is no Bull****ter and if you dont do the work you will not pass. However she is a good professor and I enjoyed the content and structure of her class.
If you don't plan on doing work, don't take her. If you do your work she is a wonderfull professor. Who will teach you allot
Professor Williams is awesome! She actually makes literature enjoyable. She is fun and down to earth and you have to work for your grade. If you are a good student, and keep up on the work, you will do fine. She is very helpful and easy to understand.
Terrible and rude. Probably one of the worst teachers I have experienced.
She's a really strict teacher and very blunt. If you don't do your work, you're screwed.
The course is very interesting, tho' demanding. The final project (in an assigned group w/ 3 other students, you have 3wks to create a culture) is a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. Counts for 20% of your grade, U get a group rather than individual grade. May have sounded creative, but is a DISASTER. Any slouches/nuts in your group, & all are doomed.
She expects too much out of you and does not teach you what you need to succeed in the class. She also spends way too much time emphasizing random details. I think I get the point across about the "REALLY big eagle" and the "REALLY big bow".
Fun teacher, very energetic and very helpful. She makes group work a key part of the class, and there is always reading to do, but she ties it all in and you learn a lot. Attendance is mandatory, and reading is just as important. Reading quizzes at the beginning of each class, detail-oriented so Spark Notes won't suffice. In all, I loved the class
eh, too egotistical.
If you can handle hearing about her numerous degrees at least twice a lecture, she is a good professor. The material itself is awful, but she makes it somewhat interesting and slightly less tedious. She is pretty strict when it comes to grading though and shows no mercy whatsoever.
ENG 200: Takes a very odd view on advanced comp. Is okay during class time, but can be extremely rude communicating via email. If you are really interested in English and writing (and even if you are not) I dont' recommend taking ENG 200 with her.
Heather is an amazing professor and an amazing person. She is, hands down, one of the best I've ever had. She keeps things interesting, and isn't at all uptight. As long as you do the readings and projects, you're good. She's understanding about absences and conflicts within group work. DEFINITELY an enjoyable experience.
Honestly Heather Williams is the worst professor that I ever had. She is extremely hard and gives you no clarity as to what she is actually looking for. I loved mythology going into the class and now i absolutely hate it becuase of her. She was a terrible teacher and I honestly have learned nothing from her.
I've read many compaints about Williams and it sounds like a bunch of crybabies looking for an easy grade. The expectations are clearly defined and she expects you to be adults and not have to hold your hand. Apply yourself in this class you will improve as a writer and a thinker. An excellent teacher for students who desire stimulation.
I love her, she is a great person, who really brings out the best in her students. If you don't like her, it seems simply because she demands alot, and expects you to be able to handle things like a real person, without having her to hold your hand. For those that don't like her, perhaps college wasn't the best idea for you
Although her teaching methods are difficult, she is very clear as to what is required and I really enjoyed her class. She is also very personable and really makes it fun to go to class.
she was a nice lady and as long as you do all of the assignments you will do well. she offers a lot of extra credit. however, she goes off on tangents and her emails are kind of rude.
She was pretty approachable in class, but her emails were rude and she was basically impossible to track down outside of class. Was often not in office during office hours, VERY hard grader, assignments weren't always clear. I wouldn't take another class with her.
Professor Williams is an amazing teacher. She does expect a fair amount from her students, but her assignments are completely manageable. I took this class fresh out of high school and she helped me to adjust to college better than any other professor I've had. She wants to see you do well and WILL help you if you're willing to pull your weight.
If you actually want to learn something avoid at all costs! she doesn't keep office hours, is rude when responding to email, takes FOREVER to return assignments offering all kinds of excuses that are unacceptable and childish when student use them but somehow for her are ok, and she seems to try to use big words that she doesn't actually understand
I'm all for teachers being strict and not holding your hand through the class, but she is ridiculous. Three weeks left in the semester and i've only received one assignment back. normally not an issue, but now that we're on our third draft of the final paper, it would be nice to know what she thinks of my writing. Don't take her class. seriously
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had.Her grading is ridiculous.Avoid this class if you want to maintain a respect for English. Each class I've beento I have left angry and confused. All assignments are unclear but she expects you should some how understand. It takes her forever to hand back assignments and shes missed more classes than me.
Very nice professor! great personality and is very helpful and patient. Tends to take a while to grade papers and other assignment. Doesnt want to fail any students. Sticks to course syllabus =]
Useless Prof, takes several weeks to return graded coursework. Cancels many classes and leaves early. I am left with learning nothing! Final paper was based on one of the four written works during the year..which she still has not returned graded. when asked to clarify her terrible lecture she insist I already know it just on a subconscious level.
i absolutely loved this teacher great personality, funny and helpful. shes a great teacher and helps you stay focused. she brings you to a college level. plus she's cute.
I can't believe she is still employed by the college! She either likes you or she doesn't, and your grade will clearly reflect that. You will not get any papers back or feedback on how she grades you until the course is almost over and your assignments are already handed in. Assignments are unclear and she will not clarify them for you. HORRIBLE!
She was nice but she would take really long to hand back papers and she would tell you what to do on the papers and would do exactly as she said and still get a C on the paper if you don't hand in a rough copy of a paper you get 50% of final paper taken off 5 papers all semester all about you but she'll rip it apart in grading unless it's perfect
she is kinda nice, in a "I love hearing myself talk" kinda way. sucks at handing stuff back, I mean sucks! No feedback at all. Took a test the other day, and it woulda been nice to have my paper back to study from, that I handed in almost TWO months ago. she is prettty cute, but her teaching skills blow!.....YUK!
Just one word, stick to the syllabus, do your work and you probably get an A. Very clear about her expectations of students,go out of it, you fail. Enrolled in 3 of her classes (ENG 105, 215, 230) and i would do it again if i had to.
don't try to get help unless you can make it to office hours even for a simple question with a simple answer not a bad looking broad though
nice and sweet lady but she should NOT be a college prof. she is completely unorganized and she takes FOREVER ti hand papers back. Shes not organized but she expects her students to be on top of things. fun course though i wish she would read this and change her ways. go back to teaching kindergarten!!!
She is nice as a person, but is one of the most vague professors I have ever had to take a class with. She is very unclear about what she expects for assignments, and beats around the bush a lot. She speaks extremely fast, and never gets to the point on anything that has to do with her explaining an assignment.
I first had her for Advanced Composition, and she greatly improved my essay writing. She is tough, but for a good reason. She has clear expectations and supports students who actually want to learn. I took Fantasy Lit with her because of how much I liked her, and wasn't disappointed! Favorite teacher... highly recommend!
Professor at beginning of course seemed to have everything very much organized based upon a course packet she had developed. However, this was a terrible assumption. She never abides by what she says nor hands back papers when necessary to determine how well you are doing in the course. Material was interesting, but learn with another professor.
Worst professor I have ever had to deal with. She is very unclear about her expectations, and is annoying to listen to.
Loved having this professor. She was fun and amusing and was actually interested in teaching us instead of talking about herself. I loved the packet she set up for us. It was so helpful. I would love to take another class with her in the future!
A really great professor! She is there to help you learn, and if you put the effort forward and turn in all your assignments on time then your golden! She seems tough at first, but she's really great. Ive taken a class w/ her twice and she really knows her stuff!
She is nice to look at, but she gave me the only B-, let alone B, that I've ever earned. Minus 25 pts for not using a specific word in an essay on an exam and minus 25 pts for a mistake from a group member.... ON THE FINAL PRESENTATION!!!
Great teacher, very engaged and knowledgable. She was very helpful when I visited her office hours (2 visits mandatory and thats when you get your papers back). She grades very hard though so don't b/s he papers.
She will teach you how to write and she makes you actually put effort into it. I thought she was a great instructor. If you take college seriously, you will benefit greatly from her but expect to work, like real college. She doesn't let you BS your assignments and makes you think which ultimately helps you grow as a student.
She really really knows what she's doing, an excellent teacher.
Good teacher. She is strict but if your organized and pay attention easy A. and her syllabus is awesome can do the hw all at once and hand it in a way head of time
I've never worked so hard for such a poor grade in my life. Professor does not care that you have other classes, a family, and work commitments. I wish I'd taken this with someone else. There is no need to be this grueling in a 100 level English class.
Cool class, but the level of work was really difficult, assignments almost every class, and there was a lot of material which she didn't really go over that much. There are 2 exams which were extremely difficult and the wording was tricky. The final is a group project and the outline she gave us was really unclear, I wouldn't take this class again
She's a tough grader, so pay attention. If you want an A, keep up your attendance, read ahead, and take notes. I've had Heather for a couple of different classes now and her classes can be entertaining if you are just as engaging. She is one of my favorites, mainly because she has a fantastic "BS" radar. Bring only your A game because she will!!!
Nice, fun teacher BUT VERY HARD! I was warned not to take this class but I was up for a challenge..which was a mistake! Expect to read a book a week, which can be hard to keep up when fulltime and working. Final group project is a joke, everyone was lost and confused. The books were fun, but the course was not. Too much work for an elective!!!!
The class is not Hard per-say, but she makes it hard! Very unclear, does not explain anything and expects it to be done correctly. Grading system is ridiculous points off like it's her job. Never hands assignments back on time. Rushes though course material, just plain horrible when it comes to grading, The material is somewhat interesting.
She is not a good teacher and does not provide any help to understand what she is looking for on assignments. If you are a lit major good if not do not take her worst class ever. I would have been better off with a on line class. save your self and get another professor asap she will not help you out. You are expected to spend extra money as well.
By far the worst well teacher at MCC. I would not put her in a teachers spot. she is useless in teaching. Unless you know lit and how to write about it do not get her!!! she will not help you or tell you what she is looking for.
She is very hard but that's college. I feel like she's one of the few teachers who really teach on the level they should.
I believe she was a GREAT teacher I normally do well as an English student I am a natural writer. So when taking this class I didn't hve any worries as to passing the class. When we got into the course I realized she actually teaches and expects higher of you! She wants you to think like an adult she was great!
She's not very clear with what she wants out of you and when you ask a question she gets frustrated and tells you to refer back to the CIS although that isn't very much help either. She's a nice lady but I wont ever take another class with her again.
I hate this class. She began our semester okay but she's not clear with directions and makes many last minute decisions. Often she gets mad when people ask her questions regarding assignments. LONG STORY SHORT DON'T TAKE HER CLASS, SHE SUCKS!
I actually think she is a decent person, she expects a lot out of you which is fine. She gets real pissed off though when you ask her questions, and shes not clear on assignments ever. I personally wouldn't take her again, I really am struggling through it due to lack of understanding. If you have a life dont take the class.. Wish me luck.
She's quirky and she's easy to listen to - going to class is the best part. It's very easy to forget to turn in some assignments. Stick to the rubrics. There is a final group project.
She is a very tough grader on essays. She gives a few easy one-page assignments that will help to boost your grade. There are a couple extra credit assignments available, which are incredibly time consuming. At the end of the day, getting an A is possible in this class, but no likely and certainly not easily.
Great Professor
Probably the most confusing, disorganized professor I have had at MCC. No visual notes and unclear for the most part. Would not recommend her as a teacher, although as a person she would be alright.
She was the worst teacher I ever had, she failed me and that was the class I work the hardest in. The classes I didn't try hard in I passed smh! I was really confused by her grading process, and offended I was considering taking it to the Dean, DONT TAKE HER CLASS! YOU'LL REGRET IT!
Don't listen to what people are saying about professor williams. Lol if you just read the books you'll do fine. She requires you to come to class so if you miss a number of days she'll drop you that's probably why everyone on here is giving low rates. Just go to class and you'll be fine I did great in her class and I didn't even read all the books.
terrible communication skills unrealistic expectations for a undergrad level over enforcer of policies nit picky hard to please hard grading no visual aids very unclear with assignments does not connect with students on a personal level too busy with her own life for help after class please take with someone else very unpleasant experience
terrible even though i did well in the class she had awful communication skills no visual aids and was very strict i did well but i would have taken it with a professor who knows how to talk to students .BAD COMMUNICATION DIFFICULT GRADING POLICY ENFORCER DOES NOT TAKE ONE ON ONE TIME WITH STUDENTS
This is by far the worst professor that i've ever had at mcc. She doesn't care if you pass or fail the class and is SO unclear on directions. She is not understanding and extremely rude. I have an A in all of my classes and got a C in this class. I would never take another class instructed by her again.
she is very impatient and isn't clear on her instructions/assignments. doesn't really answer questions. only class I didn't like and I am a hard, diligent worker. Constantly threatening with "0's" if you don't do this or that. Her teaching tactics are non-motivational since she is always threatening a "0".superiority complex.DON'T take this class.
I don't understand the fuss with Professor Williams. She really knows children's literature. As long as you include all of the necessary elements in your essays, it's an automatic 100. Her tests are hard though. The final really isn't as bad as everyone thinks. And she gives extra credit. All in all, she's not that bad.
Finally a Professor that teaches a real college class - doesn't take any crap and she shouldn't- grading is exactly as it should be - you give her average work, you get an average grade - you get what you give - I really enjoyed Prof Williams and WOULD take another class with her.
This class isn't suited for anyone who will slack. She doesn't explain anything and makes you guess on everything. Worst professor I have had and the final is a oral presentation that you have to do with others for an individual grade. Won't be having her as a teacher again.
She is a VERY tough grader on essays, nearly impossible to get an A on an essay let alone the class. Her clarity on assignments is confusing but she'll be more than happy to help if you ask for it. Shes a nice lady and very cute. I would take another class with her if she didnt teach english, I hate that subject but still managed to pass her class.
This is the type of class where group discussions occur daily, prepare yourself for a final presentation so if your not a fan of those this might not be the best class. Overall teacher is helpful when you need her the only bad thing is the lack of clarity. Not a tough grader and few tests.
Don't listen to the bad reviews. She's an amazing professor and absolutely hysterical. Believe it or not, we're in college and she grades as such. Plus, she's a lit. teacher, obviously there will be a lot of reading and writing. If at any point she's unclear, all you need to do is ask her to explain. So proud to be one of her minions!
I regret taking this course with Professor Williams. She seems like a nice person, but as a teacher not so much. I did everything I had to do and worked very hard and still received a grade I feel wasn't fair. When I tried to contact her about problems, she would give choppy and unclear answers. I wouldn't take any more courses with her, EVER.
Easy assignments, 6, 2 page response papers over the semester (easy easy 100%), midterm and early final, not cumulative and not hard, final group presentation is fun and easy, easy grading again. do your readings because when you read the Odyssey she gives you 1 question quizzes (just sparknotes chapters and make it look like you read). good class!
She is a overall nice women, however she is so very unclear with what she wants from you that it gets very confusing. If she were more organized with her own thoughts then it would be much easier for you to understand her expectations for papers and projects.
Avoid Prof. Williams. She doesn't offer clear directions or grading expectations. When you go to office hours, she seems really nice but doesn't really explain her grading other than to hand a rubric to you
Expects maturity, hard work, communication. 8 YA novels (12+ age range). 2 tests, mid-wayend. 4 book responses, 2 articles, 8 hwk quizzes (one question, 3-sentence response), 1 essay, 1 group project (32% overall grade - must attend all presentations for credit). -10%ea absence 3. Engaging. Take if Soc Sci student, or interest. Read syllabus!
I love her
She is hilarious and makes it really interesting. She makes it easy to understand the literature that we go over but her directions for papers is a little unclear. directions on tests are easy. If you ask her for more clarification she will give it, easy to talk to. READ. reading quizzes are 10% of the grade and the final group project is important
This is my girl! She's awesome! Funny, and real. I highly suggest taking one of her class. She keeps you focused with her lectures by just be herself. Spontanious and wild. Again, she is awesome.
I really enjoyed the class, but if you want an A, I wouldn't recommend it. While Professor Williams is a great teacher, she is a tough grader.
Don't care for her. Wouldn't take her again. If you asked for help her response "look it up." I wouldn't take her and by the way this isn't just Greek myth its Norse, Indian, Chinese and Egyptian. So make sure your ready to learn all of them not just one.
If you're looking to learn and grow as a person, this is the class for you. If you're looking for an easy A or a class just to fill space, you might want to look somewhere else. Professor Williams cares about her students and their success. She expects them to work hard and to be prepared for each and every class. Not to mention--funny as hell!
The class breaks into small tribes, each discussing readings for the day before coming together as a whole. She steps aside, allowing students to learn from and teach other students. Brilliant. The reading and writing topics are thought-provoking and inspiring. Expect to laugh out loud! The final fun group presentation. Highly Recommend!
She is one of the funniest teachers I've ever had! I would take one of her classes again in a heart beat. If you know how to take good notes and stick up with the homework it's an easy A. Be prepared to read a lot but again, she is a lit teacher so don't expect anything less. I'm proud to be one of her minions!
She is a wonderful professor. All you need is to write a few papers and your practically done with the semester when your done with it besides the final.
I took her mythology class and loved it.
Absolutely loved taking Professor Williams English 101 class. Was it hard after being out of school for 20 years, of course, but I didn't expect college to be easy. I felt she was very clear about grading, her handbook is very clear. Show up. Feel she is not being clear, she want you to think for yourself not be fed answers.
Expect participation during group assignments, you will be doing a few peer reviews. She has a couple of methods to produce a solid grade, make sure you pay attention. Expect to be writing a fair amount both in and out of class. A Facebook account will be required sadly ;( You will be a "Minion" from the first day of class until your death.
She may looks young or a new teacher but underneath the face she's definitely wise and make sure you become a better writer. However, she is definitively a tough grader so make sure there is "no-no" words in your paper. Also, make sure you are comfortable with reading out loud there will be a presentation.
I liked her at first, she was very energetic and she is nice. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to care at all about her students and whether they understand. She doesn't give an effort to help at all, even if their doing well in her class. I'm use to my professor's giving a helping hand if you needed it and are DESERVING... she doesn't really care.
Professor Williams was great! She gets everyone into groups to discuss what was read and frequently quizzes on it (easy A just read/spark note). You'll get a huge course packet with everything needed and there's a group project at the end. Easy papers that aren't harshly graded in this class. Overall good and would probably take again
You'll learn a lot from her, passionate about mythology. Reading is a given for this class. she gives you the "text book" which is a life source for her class. Doesn't use Blackboard which isn't helpful/ slow to grade anything. Awesome material to learn and makes it interesting and fun. Would take again if grades were persistent and easy to find.
She is nice, energetic and funny. Her class moves very fast, and she takes a very long time to get graded assignments back to you, but her assignments and expectations are clear, and her class is well structured. She also talks a lot which doesn't leave much time to work on group projects or assignments, but is overall a great professor.
I have had many professors in my day, including schools like Harvard and Purdu university and Professor Williams is the BEST professor I've ever had. She is hilarious, caring and just freaking smart. I'm a science major and never really loved English but I learned so much about writing from her and sincerity love going to her class.
She grades hard but she sets you up for success. I constantly refer to my ENG 101 book she gave us for advice and I have never written essays as well. She is hilarious.
I always looked forward to this class even though I hate writing. I learned a lot and walked away with a fair grade. Totally recommend.
First off, I didn't hate her. She was nice and she seems to enjoy what she does. I liked that she gave us a book so we didn't have to go out and buy a text book But she isn't clear on what the H we are supposed to be doing in papers and assignments. IMPORTANT: If you're a person who needs instructions then don't take her class. You'll be lost.
I took this class for the 2nd time & even though, I still learned so much from prof. Williams! Being a science major English is not my favorite subject but I had so much fun taking this class. She is the BEST professor I've ever had. Anyone who has bad things to say clearly wants an "easy A " She is caring, funny & brilliant. TAKE HER CLASS!
Professor Williams is the best! Very funny and makes class interesting. She assigns lots of papers and her grading is tough, but she will tell you exactly what to do to get an A. You will know what is due and what is coming next at all times. No need for a book, she gives one out. The papers are only 2-3 pages at most. Would take class again.
She has a very organized way of running her class throughout the semester. This makes things a lot easier considering you know when everything is due starting the first day you go to class. Her grading on the main essays is a little tough but she tells you everything she take points off for beforehand. Overall great professor.
I cried. Heather is just too tough. I was 10 min late for a paper and received a 0. She goes by the book and makes no exceptions. I tried my best on my essays and got help from tutors and still got a C. Other than that her lectures are amazing. I just couldn't handle the pressure. I think the only way to survive is office hours.
2 of my grandfathers passed away during the semester 1 by NYC and another in Arizona. When I spoke to her about attending services she stated that no matter what if I missed more than 3 days she will fail me from the class. I was willing to due all the work and email it to her, even come during office hours, didn't matter.
Truly on of the best teachers!! The tests are clear, concise and there are never any surprises. Took this as a first year student... on accident, but I got an A! Do the work, listen and you cannot go wrong in Heather's class!
She's a great professor and for eng 101 I would highly recommend her over others. The work she gives is much more manageable and its easy to follow as long as you have the notebook she makes for class! It's easy to pass if you simply follow along
she is a headache. tries WAY too hard to be funny but its just annoying. very strict with her guidelines, but she is clearly confusing herself because she will mark you off for something that you did correctly (according to the course packet). makes you facebook interact with her. just a headache. glad i am out of that class
She is very demeaning to students - we are not "minions" we are adults. Talks WAY too much and talks to us like children. She is "clear" on grading but doesnt even follow her own rubric and condradicts herself. Also, makes you sit in class and HAND WRITE papers just to type them up at home. Shes a huge time waster. Glad class is over. Not cool.
I really think she is a nice human, but she is so unorganized and unclear with grading. Even when you follow everything clearly points are still taken off. There isnt much direction as well and the assignments are really random and confusing. I had to miss a few classes due to family problems and she threatened to fail me. Funny person though.
Does not give clear instructions or dates for assignments. She always says my papers need more detail and then says i put too much! She doesn't listen to concerns and will not accept any late work. Would not recommend taking ANY of her classes.
Unclear dare I say terrible with instructions, overcomplicates everything, strictly by the book. While it was an online only course other similar courses I've taken were much more well put together. If you have a question you're sent on a scavenger hunt throughout a barely set up course page.
The worst professor Ive had. She grades very hard and doesnt follow the rubrics. When you reach out for help she tells you to keep going. No help. She does not allow any room for human error, shes mean, she doesnt communicate professionally. She doesnt respect personal issues and will fail you. Tell her something is unfair, she disrespects u
Professor Williams is confusing and seems to only be a professor to give people a hard time. Very vague with instructions, isn't flexible with due dates, assigns rough drafts but doesn't always even read them, going against the point of a rough draft. Online course was unorganized and hard to navigate compared to every other professor I have had.
Seriously one of the worst professors I've ever had. I did not learn a thing from her class. She is unhelpful and a harsh grader, and expects you to understand the content with no direction. Even for an online class, I have had a lot more clear courses than hers where I was actually able to understand everything. Does not know how due dates work.
Nightmare. Finding any information is a scavenger hunt as the online class is not organized. The info provided is not proofread, so it's hard to tell what's a typo. Grading is so slow you can't really fix issues before the next assignment. Professor doesn't provide tangible help, but just tells you to look at the course information provided.
Worst professor I've ever had. You can follow every direction she gives you, but she will do everything to take points off for no reason, zero elaboration. Save yourself the trouble do no take her class. She is not clear about directions/assignments and if you ask for help she'll just reply with condescending emails that don't help at all.
Do not take this class. Worst course and professor I have ever had. She is really bad, unhelpful and the whole layout of the course is really bad.
Abhorrent. Cynical. Monster. Will purposefully dog you on minute details, grammar, and how close it is to her "template" which she provides you with but gives zero explanation on how to utilize them. The final we had to read a 200 page book for an elective. Seems nice on paper but is a witch right down to the core. Should not be a professor.
Honestly not sure why there are any negative reviews for this professor. I enjoyed most of the assignments given and professor williams is one of the nicer professors I have encountered. What stuck out the most was how she cares about students and their hobbies. I do a lot of photography and professor Williams really encouraged me to keep it up.
The syllabus is a maze. Normally an A+ student, every paper I wrote she ripped apart with no feedback. I was dealing with family issues and tried my hardest. She was rude and after making me cry with her cruel grades I dropped the course. Wanted to enjoy it but didn't. Took the same class at Stony Brook (tough school but less work) and got a 97.
Do NOT take this professor. Her directions aren't clear and her course is disorganized but she will be condescending to you if you ask for help. It's like she has super high standards for us the students but not herself. Did not learn anything.
At first I wasn't sure about her but as the course continued I grew to thoroughly enjoy taking her class. She is funny, caring, and understanding, she is always there if you need advice about things not even related to her class. She does assign a lot of work and the grading is tough but, the criteria is clear and you will succeed if you listen.
This was hands down the hardest class I've taken at MCC so far. The lectures, as well as homeworks, were very advanced and at times I wasn't sure if I understood my task completely. Having said that, Professor Williams has taught me to think more critically and properly evaluate sources and claims of any article or paper I read.
The due dates she gives are extremely confusing. In the syllabus, for example, it says something like "due before April 2" and I thought that it meant by 11:59 on April 2. Turns out she means April 1. Is it so hard to say due on April 1? This caused many missing assignments as she does not accept late work. Won't take any of her classes again.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT TO PASS SMOOTHLY!! I am graduating after this semester and I thought it would be fun to take a mythology class before I leave, SIKE. Be ready to have your every assignment nitpicked and get your "corrections" back way after you've submitted it. I would not recommend this course to my worse enemy. SAVE YOURSELF
Grades incredibly tough. This professor assign's several large essays and grades them very harshly without any help or resources on how to improve your writing skills. She is very vague at teaching and scattered. She is unhelpful and her lectures are horrendously dull.
Do NOT take mythology! I am an English Major at a different institution with a near 4.0 GPA and have never failed a class in my life... yet here I am. Professor Williams offers very minimal directions and feedback and it is near impossible to pass her class even if you do all the material and study hard for the exams. Worst class I've ever taken.
Thinks highly of herself. Do not take unless you want to get graded on stuff like whether or not you stapled your paper the right way rather on what you learned. Nit picky to the point of abuse
This was the most challenging class I have taken at MCC. Professor William is a harsh grader but does give good feedback. She gives you her free book with all the assignments and expectations. If you use certain words she does not like, she will mark off points for that.
I went into this class with HIGH expectations thinking how can this be a terrible class. This professor did understand a family emergency that came up. However, understanding what they are looking for is so hard. If you know NOTHING about religion and such, prepare to struggle. Also you are only provided very small things to read and THATS IT
Avoid this class if you can - the professor's grading is harsh and feedback is minimal. Assignments are tricky, and the online structure is disorganized. However, unstuckstudy can help with studying and prep.
English 101 with Professor Williams was an extremely hard class but she taught me a lot. You have to be in class or else points will be taken away. She is a good person and is funny. Her assignments are organized but very difficult. She is a super tough grader and will take points off for anything.
For a simple ENG 101 course, the grading standard is ridiculous. She claims if you write a solid paper and fulfill all expectations that's a C. unnecessarily nit-picky. A for her would mean you're writing far beyond the course level. If you work hard and put a lot of value in getting an A, don't take Williams for ENG 101 if you can avoid it.
One or two sentence explanation of course concepts in notes. Exams test what the professor believes you should have learned from them - pretty much impossible. 3-5 day response for Discussion posts, 6-7 day response for written assignment feedback. Might work well as face-to-face course where the professor could give detailed explanations. Avoid!
