Hector is one of the best professors I've had at Loyola. He lives, eats, and breathes queer theory. Hector's class is not easy. He will challenge you, he will make you think deeply and read closely, and he will hold you to a high standard. But in doing so, he will make you grow academically. He can be a little intimidating, but he's really sweet!

I enjoyed this professor, homework was organized and exams were lengthy . He gives a lot of homework so be prepared, I took this course online so reaching him outside of class was easy. He grades according and is overall informative. Would take his course again

Dr García-Chávez is AMAZING! He's so passionate and genuinely does care about teaching his students. He can be a bit intimidating but if you participate in class you'll do extremely well. He's a tough grader but gives amazing feedback. I feel very fortunate to have had his class!

Usually weekly writing assignments that are completed in class, and while it started as you writing it on your own, it eventually became in groups. He was super funny and made lectures super interesting and engaging. It really made this class amazing, including visits to the Art Museum and other very interesting movies that we watched in this class

Professor García-Chávez was a kind and caring professor who wants to see his students improve. He is strict on grading, but his feedback is what helps you improve. There was quite a bit of hw during the semester, so as soon as he posts the hw, make sure to start it asap. My one critique is that I wish he would post the estrategías earlier.

Great prof! definitely one of the few professors at Loyola that I've felt have challenged me to get better (as a native speaker). He encourages conversation and is overall very clear on what he expects for exams/assignments. Would recommend!
