Professor Martinez is possibly the most patient teacher I've ever had. He is very knowledgeble and loves his work.

Hector is an excellent teacher. He really cares about his work and gives each student his full attention. This was my second class with him and I would defintly take more if I could.

If you like class participation and discussion with no exams. Grade is based on term papers and a research paper. Not too difficult if you like to write.

If you are smart enough to realize that Hector is an honest and caring individual, let alone a wondeful instructor, consider yourself lucky. He is one of the most devoting school-board beaurocrats that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

very easy professor, he is almost always late. In his class i only wrote three essay where i got A's withought trying too hard. He mostly forgets assignment on the syllabus - this turned out to be good for us. Easy class, and a friendly teacher.

He is a really easy teachers and cares for his students.

so hot! Want to touch the heinie. seriously, he is a great prof who knows his stuff. picks some non-mainstream films and lets students share/debate. I mean, HELLO! It's a class where you get to talk about movies with a knowledgable moderator. who just so happens to be extremely attractive, also check out his awesome poem in Sunshine/Noir.

He is definitely hot! He is a great teacher! He has good discussions, and really gets into detail. He is very respectfull, and takes time to listen and help you.

A WONDERFUL instructor, loved his class. You're able to learn a lot of interesting things without being stressed out. He's really nice, caring and has a great deal of knowledge- I highly recommend.

Great! Funny and easy to approach. Lots of interesting discussions and he relates to the students very well. I learned a ton in his class and would take any other class he teaches.

One of the most awesome professors i've ever met here at City. Really recommend every student to take him. No tests more like quizes, fairly simple, and bases class grade on essays, which are fairly easy also if you love to write!

He tries hard to get good discussions going and wants people to contribute their opinions, but his is always the last word. It can be intimidating to speak up when you're just going to be told you're wrong. The fact is, you're not wrong, he just has a different (and better in his mind) opinion.

Great professor! Very helpful and clear, despite doling out a lot of papers in a short time (during summer anyway), he ensures that students can achieve the best grade possible while actually learning something. He promotes interesting discussions and never tries to push his political views though he will challenge anything you say to play devil's advocate. Highly recommended!!!

Definitely a cool teacher. He's very funny and keeps the discussion going. He lets you speak your mind and doesn't belittle you at all. Very laid back class, very interesting. I found the midterm and final very easy as long as you paid attention and took notes. Take a class with him, you won't regret it.

Took in fall & class is way too easy. Definitely not complaining but if you want an easy teacher who still cares alot about his students and is a really funny and awesome class this is it! A few papers but nothing hard one book to read articles out of but no biggie.

Prof Martinez is a great professor. We didn't use a textbook but had a lot of handouts and movies to write about. The assigned projects are great because the force you to think about how you want to tackle the subject matter. He always has time for student's questions. I highly recommend him. Do the work and you will get an A.

I took this guy during the summer , and he is an awesome professor, where he engages his student about Mexican Culture. I was more interested in his stories and lectures, then reading the chapters assigned. Super nice, gives you time to finish your work, and he allows you to revise your essay assignment. Take this guy since he is good at teaching

Hands down the best English professor I've taken. He made things clear and easy. Interesting material and lets you revise your essays as many times as you want. Really lucky to have gotten into his class and like I said AWESOME teacher!

His classes are to pass without much effort. However, and more importantly, he is a professor from whom you can learn easily regardless of your level or prior knowledge. His class do not have to be easy if the student does not choose them to be. Various concepts are presented and expanded. Usually he has an honors' option. Recommend.

This is the BEST English teacher I've ever had. Never in my life have I gotten above a B on a test or an Essay in English. I got 100% on my Mid-term. He explains everything that he wants you to know. So if you have issues with English TAKE HIS CLASS.

He's a really cool guy and the reading material is interesting. We had a lively thought provoking conversations pretty much every day. The only problem (or perhaps it's a good thing depending on how you look at it) is that he doesn't seem to read the assignments. He just wrote "A" on all my papers and gave me no other feedback... can't complain :)

Very aproachable, easy to talk to. Very willing to help if you do not understand something. One of my favorite professors. If you attend class and pay attention and participate he makes discussions and attending class very fun and interesting. You too can receive an A.

Great teacher! I took him for my first semester of college and I'm already registered for his class next semester! He's very helpful and super understanding if you have leave early or turn things in late. I recommend him for ANY English class he teaches!!! :) but watch out seats for his classes go fast.

Professor Martinez, is a great teacher and I enjoying being in his class.

Martinez shared very interesting short stories, novels, and films that all had similar themes by Spanish writers. All of our essays were fairly easy, as long as you read and understood the material covered. This class was very insightful and I enjoyed coming to class for discussions. I got A's on all my papers. He is the honors coordinator, too!

Took him for English 101 and really enjoyed his class. He really cares about his students and is always available if you need help. He lets you correct your essays if you want to raise the grade. He also has a great sense of humor! If you don't his class there is something wrong with you.

Mr. Martinez he is really awesome and amazing person, he is very helpful, he allow u to revise essays and the attendance its not mandatory but u will never ever been absent for his class,if u really want to get an A as a grade just u have to be prepare for the class and be in time and do ur homework,but for Mr. Martinez its really great teacher

Professor Martinez is so far one of the best teachers i've experienced at City College. He is extremely helpful, explained the topics with clarity and is easy to get along with. He does not use a book. There are a few in class writings and a few Essays due throughout the semester. Gives you plenty of time to work on. I highly recommend Mr. Martinez

I loved his class and the books we read for the semester. You have to read everything in order to pass the class, it is a literature anyway. A couple of essays, journals, and two tests were done. He is very helpful when you need it.

Mr. Martinez is AMAZING! I took him for Eng 42, and 205! is far the most layed back, chill smart professor. He is very smart, interesting, friendly, helpful and peoples person. I highly recommend his class. It is not hard at all. All the work he assigns is very reasonable and as long as you turn in all your work you should pass the class.

He is a great professor and helps students in every way possible.We had to write 4 papers which were 4-5 pages long and a final research paper you do with ur group along with a presentation Lots of extra credit and you can rewrite ur papers again for a better grade.lots of nice videos and movies in class.Other professors make u do way more work A+.

I took this as an Honors course and it was great! Prof. Martinez is awesome, he makes himself available to all his students. The class is not too demanding(4 papers and a lot of extra credit + an extra paper and book for honors).

I would honestly go back and take one of his classes again. One of the best teachers in city. I recommend this teacher

One of the best and most awesome English teacher in SD City College. He cares about his students and goes above and beyond to make sure his students succeed. Willing and available to help his students at all times, and makes time even though he doesn't have time. I definitely RECOMMEND him for everyone. 5 stars given to him and thumbs up.

Prof. M is really neat. He is a fountain of knowledge. There isn't a ton of hw and the exams were fairly easy. He's really nice, friendly, and approachable. Highly recommend :)

For English 47 this dude was chill. Almost too chill but he gives helpful feedback and his grading is not heavy. Only "complaint " is that sometimes the class would go off topic and he would not take control of it like he would let students keep the class off track. I don't trip is just that other students did and they would talk bad.

Get ready to read and write a couple essays. I found this course very interesting and very realistic, everything we learn in Mr. Martinez class we tend to compare to our todays society and the way we live today. We visited a Postmodern Museum and this was my favorite part of the class to do.

This class is Chicano images in film, so we watched interesting films every class and discussed them afterwards. We had to write short journal entries about every film, along with a midterm and a final. Easy A as long as you attend and turn in the necessary work.

I totally recommend his English 205 class he is the best, all the books he gives us are very interesting.

Professor Martinez is one of the best English Professors I ever had. Even if I started as an ESL student he was pretty accessible and comprehensive with his students. He is also supportive and cares about his students. Also, he gives you freedom for your essays. His lectures and topics are fascinating.

Let me start by saying, no textbook courses are wonderful. All material was provided and assignments were straight forward. Would recommend!

Professor Martinez was simply one of the best instructors I've had in college. His lectures are great and he has a very calm demeanor and can be talked to about issues you might have or time constraints with some due assignments. Taught literary approaches to film and it was easily one of the best classes I've taken!

I really enjoyed taking Chicanx Film class with Professor Martinez. He makes really good points in our discussions of the films that make you see things in a different perspective. After each film you watch you have to write a 1 page journal about certain themes you saw in the film and you have a 3-5 page midterm and final. Such a fun class!

Amazing English teacher, we had class based more on real life things going on, 3 essays in total, but you can re-submit for a better grade, everything Is clear and to the point, do the work and you pass. He makes learning interesting.

This class was really fun! It was a break for me in between my more text-heavy courses. We watched a Chicano film every week, wrote a 1 page journal on the themes of the films, and sometimes did discussions posts. The 2 essays for the class were pretty easy, make sure to take a lot of notes and youll be good on your essays. Very nice Professor.

I took his Chicano film class and it was amazing! You just watch a film a week, write a one page reflection on the film, only two major papers and extra credit opportunities as well! I definitely recommend, I learned a lot !

Professor Martínez is just as the others described him, such an understanding, respectful, funny and kind teacher. He is very clear with what he expects with the work and the pace of his class is very calm. He does not hesitate to answer questions and during the semester he offered us up to 3 extra credit opportunities. A great teacher.

Professor Martinez adds a lot of really interesting information for all of the movies we watched in class, and all of his choices were really cool. There was more writing than I expected going in, but he's a kind grader as long as you actually do the assignment. Really great professor for a really fun class.
